THEOS in Hamburg

So many steakhouses advertise premium quality. Most of the time, it's just marketing hype. Not so at Theo's; the porterhouse, with all the trimmings, was truly first-class. We'll definitely be back.

The three of us dined at the restaurant on December 27, 2025, and our bill totaled approximately €460. We started the evening at the cocktail bar. We waited about 40 minutes before a waiter took our drink order. Then we waited another 15-20 minutes for the cocktails to arrive. Both Cosmopolitans tasted watered down, and the Negroni was far too strong. We asked the bartender, who seemed completely overwhelmed and lacking in bar expertise, if he could remove one drink from the bill. He responded arrogantly. We then moved to the steakhouse. There was clearly a shortage of staff, resulting in very long wait times. The food was tasty. The waiter emphasized that this was a 5-star hotel after we pointed out the unsatisfactory service. He confirmed a staff shortage. When paying, we asked to have the bill reduced by the amount of one drink. We still left a €20 tip. This wasn't enough for the waiter, who said, "I'll just leave this here." Overall verdict: Expensive, good food, significant shortcomings in service, arrogant staff.

It was an experience I can highly recommend. We ordered the rump steak, it was fantastic.

For the past seven years, our group of friends and I have met there for a meal just before Christmas. And every time, the food and drinks are a delight!

We had a 700g and a 900g dry-aged ribeye. The best steak of my life. All of the restaurant manager Levent Tarhan's recommendations were perfectly tailored to our needs. Many thanks also to the numerous service staff.

A very tasty steakhouse. Unfortunately, the service didn't live up to the excellent quality of the food. We arrived a bit early and were asked to wait at the bar, which wasn't a problem in itself. However, even there, we weren't asked if we wanted a drink for 15 minutes. Once we were seated at our table, it took another 15 minutes and then we had to ask if we could have the menu and order drinks. The food was delicious, but the service was also slow during the main course, and it took several minutes for the side dishes to arrive, which meant the meat was almost cold again. It's a real shame the service was so poor, because the food itself was very tasty.

The food was delicious, BUT... the fact that Mr. Levent Tarhan, the host, was constantly berating and belittling one of his employees at the table next to ours is very unprofessional; this shouldn't happen, especially not in front of guests! The wait for our food was over two hours, and then the birthday child's meal was forgotten—in such a fancy restaurant? Never again.

We were looking forward to a lovely, exquisite evening and were truly disappointed by the service. The waiters were overwhelmed, unfriendly when mistakes were made, and inattentive. The appetizer was superb! The meat in the main course was very average to tough. Unfortunately, overall, a below-average steakhouse that doesn't live up to its reputation. For the price, there are many other restaurants in Hamburg that are simply better. What a shame!

We dined at the restaurant last night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary – and unfortunately, the service did not live up to the standard one would expect at this price point. While the service was friendly, it was overall far too unprofessional. We encountered difficulties right from the start: The reservation my husband had made by phone using the official number on the company website could not be found. We received a brief apology from reception, but were then advised to "book online next time" because the internal communication between the hotel and restaurant apparently wasn't working properly. Giving us such advice, when the error was clearly not ours and the problem was evidently known there, simply seemed inappropriate. While we were ordering our appetizers and still undecided about our main course, the waiter informed us that our table was only reserved until 8:30 p.m. This "limited time" was, in my opinion, perfectly normal and not a problem – but the announcement was unnecessary and irritating. Ironically, it took the restaurant almost 45 minutes to serve our main course (two beef fillets with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes). The situation became unpleasant again when it came time to pay: the bill included drinks we hadn't ordered. Instead of discreetly clarifying the issue with his boss and then simply giving us the correct, amended bill or a refund, the waiter returned to our table twice with the bill still incorrect. Being dragged into this process as guests, while other guests witness everything, is simply unprofessional. It was also disturbing that the head chef repeatedly reprimanded his staff in front of the guests. This created a hectic and chaotic atmosphere. It's a shame, because the food itself was really good. Due to the overall unprofessional experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant – especially for special occasions.

I love this steakhouse. I eat there every time I'm in Hamburg. This time I had a salad and an 820g porterhouse steak with vegetables. The service was absolutely top-notch. A fantastic evening.

A truly exceptional sensory experience where everything is perfect: food, drinks, service, advice, and ambiance. It's expensive, but worth every penny. I'd gladly return.

Unfortunately, we had an extremely inexperienced waitress. When I ordered my steak medium rare, she recommended medium, as the fat would otherwise be "not tasty." I insisted on medium rare—after all, it wasn't the first rib-eye I'd ordered. It arrived and was more like medium-well. When I informed her this, she came back with the order slip and showed me that she had ordered medium rare—but didn't change anything about my steak. I then pointed out to her that my steak was still much too well done and I didn't like it that way. The waiter then came and replaced it immediately. Since everything else was already on the table, I naturally got cold sides to go with my steak. My friend had ordered a fillet. I tried it while I waited for my steak and found it extremely tough and dry—but I didn't say anything because my friend seemed happy. When my steak arrived and she tried it, she said hers was very tough and dry, in comparison, and she didn't eat it. So we didn't eat the fillet, as it really tasted like stewed meat. I tried to politely tell the waitress this, without wanting to offend her or anyone else. Her reaction was: "Yes, with fillet you sometimes get lucky, sometimes unlucky." Then she came back and said that with fillet, it's just like that: it's dry and tough. Well, in the end, we paid for everything and were very disappointed. I think this restaurant has enormous potential, and I think they can make good fillets, too – but this was a really bad experience and unfortunately somewhat spoiled the evening we were supposed to celebrate a special occasion. We're still young and not particularly wealthy, so a restaurant like this is actually an absolute highlight for us, one we don't treat ourselves to often. We also particularly like good restaurants because of the service – which was, unfortunately, really disappointing here.

Food was very good, but service was totally chaotic!

Really great food and excellent service, up until dessert. We were brought the wrong dessert. Mistakes happen. We said we didn't want it. The waitress said that she may as well leave it then rather than take it back, especially as the desert we ordered was going to take another 15 minutes. We all picked at the dessert that was wrongly brought, but it wasn't great. We just wanted to taste it. Fast forward 30 minutes and the bill comes. EUR 480 for three people, but the dessert is on there. We query it and explain the waitress said it wouldn't be charged. The poor waiter looked nervous and said the manager insisted we pay because we ate most of it. Never in my life have I been charged for a dish we did not order and told them to take back when it arrived. We obviously insisted it come off, which was purely academic because either way with a tip we intended to pay the same amount but it was the principle. We could sense the atmosphere shift with both waiters involved who had done so well all night. The older manager in a suit needs to reconsider whether a 14 euro dessert mistakenly taken to a 500 euro table is really worth tainting an otherwise great night. We won't be back unfortunately. If the wait staff involved are at all penalised then they should seek employment under a better manager as they were both great.

To summarize: The receptionist is a disaster, the food is very good, but not recommended for special occasions lasting longer than 1.5 hours! First, the positive: The waiter himself was very nice, and the food was absolutely excellent! We had 2 filets, 1 rib-eye, and 1 910g porterhouse steak – all cooked to perfection. Now, unfortunately, I also have to say: Generally, it was very nice. I celebrated my birthday at the restaurant. The lady at the reception was unfortunately awful… quite unfriendly, and my parents were very unfriendly when they arrived slightly late to the table and were overjoyed to congratulate me on my birthday. Unfortunately, we were asked to leave shortly after the meal, which is a real shame, especially on a birthday, especially after paying such a hefty price.

One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The food was fantastic. One deduction is the long wait for a table! 40 minutes for a table in the second round at 8:30 p.m. is unacceptable! The guests from the first round also have to leave their tables.

An absolutely fantastic experience at THEO's Restaurant Hamburg! From the moment you enter, you sense the special atmosphere – stylish, cozy, and yet full of energy. The food was of the highest quality: perfectly prepared, flavorful, and lovingly presented. The special highlight of the evening, however, was the service provided by Levent Tarhan. With his charm, charisma, and warmth, he made our visit unforgettable. His attentiveness, humor, and passion for excellent service perfectly rounded off the evening. Eugen Block's upscale steakhouse is truly in a class of its own. I've rarely eaten such a good steak, rarely felt so comfortable, and rarely been served so well and with such wit. We had a legendary evening.

An excellent meat restaurant in Hamburg that always reminds you of outstanding New York-style meat restaurants: Competent and fast service, very good quality meat and side dishes, and an interesting and inspiring atmosphere. The wines are too expensive, as everywhere. The two-seater tables are too close together. The restaurant management should change this. More tables where you can sit at an angle! I can't understand any bad reviews here. Yes, the restaurant is "expensive." Yes, it's more upscale. If you want a great atmosphere, extremely delicious food, and great service, you have to go here!

I've been here several times and have generally been very satisfied. Today, however, I experienced the absolute lowest point. A 30-minute wait until I was served (and only after asking). The food was served at different times, and the porterhouse was served twice, cooked incorrectly, and was also sinewy. I waited to see what they would charge me for the evening on their own initiative - I was charged a full house and they were uncooperative. The rude responses from the supposed service manager. There seems to be no correlation between quality and standards here. We're happy to pay appropriately for good food, but I expect service and quality in return. The bright spot, however, was a young, dedicated waiter who constantly tried to salvage the evening.

We had a very pleasant evening and enjoyed a delicious meal. We really enjoyed the Caesar salad as an appetizer, thanks in part to the show cooking. The avocado tartar was delicious, but the portion was a bit small for the price. The steak was excellent – ​​top quality! The side dishes were also impressive: the chanterelle mushrooms were unfortunately a bit bland, but the spinach was surprisingly creative with a slight spiciness, presumably from the ginger. Very successful. The dessert was also a delight. Overall, a solid steakhouse with a small, fine menu, good service, and a charming atmosphere. Thank you for the lovely evening – we'd love to come back.

Let me start by saying, Theos as been one of our favorite restaurants for the last 5-6 years. Over this time, we have been there over 30 times at least between work and personal meals. I wanted to share this background to set the years of experiences we have and the level of continued loyalty we have continued to have for Theos. In the last months they have continued to make what I would classify as disappointing decisions on the menu. They have reduced the number and variety of sides and taken away a few sides that were very popular and very healthy like the carrots. They changed the bread you get at the beginning of the meal and they also seem to have changed in the last year the bearnaise sauce from a nice homemade version, to what appears to be a box or carton type sauce. Tonight, we visited with a big group, we were very excited to have our group experience this historically great restaurant. For years and years, we have been able to request the hot butter plate for our steaks, we are well aware this plate is hot and helps the steak continue to cook the longer the steak sits on the plate. For me this is common sense and this has never been an issue. Today, I requested this hot butter plate and was told as of last week it was no longer offered for “non-bone” type steaks. The waiter explained this was largely a byproduct of people requesting this and then complaining their steak was overcooked. I spoke to the manger Mr. Tarhan, he explained it was not allowed anymore and abruptly shut the conversation down and walked away. I tried to explain that I would completely assume responsibility for the steak and absolutely would not ask for a return, he had not patience for this talk and simply said no and walked away. The rest of our evening , he simply avoided our table as to avoid having to discuss it further. The other issue, we had with today’s visit. We booked our table at 6pm. We arrived at 6:02pm, there were staff standing around waiting for guest in the main restaurant. The hostess, then said we had to first go into the Theo’s Bar / Lounge area and wait to be seated. I said, wow this is odd, as the restaurant is totally empty, so this made no sense to me. You go into the Bar / Lounge and you feel pressured to order drinks that you might not want. So we sat, waiting for our table. After 5-10 minutes we felt compelled to order drinks and as soon as the drinks came they said our table was ready. In the end, we waited 15+ minutes in the bar area, ordered drinks that we did not plan on ordering, to wait on a table that was 100% ready when we walked in the door. Then after coming to this restaurant and spending “Thousands” of euros over the last years, we are treated like we should be “lucky” to eat there and just be quiet. The steak was great, the sides were great, and I must give the credit for this part of the meal, however after the complete dismissal from the Manager and walk away and did not care of our request at all. I likely will not be back to Theo’s under this management team. Disappointing as this is or was, one of the better steak restaurants in Hamburg. A few years back it was hard to get a reservation, however my last 2-3 visits have been half empty. I guess I am starting to learn why.

We had an evening with delicious food and drinks. Unfortunately, the chanterelle mushrooms were disappointingly bland. Otherwise, the food was very good. The service, however, was not good. When we entered the restaurant, a waiter half-walked around us and didn't offer us a choice of gram for the steak. When we then actively asked if we could have the 700g version, we were snippily told that they only had the 980g version anyway. We felt like we had done something wrong. At the same time, the waiters repeatedly argued among themselves and gossiped about their colleagues. Unfortunately, the service ruined our evening. What a shame.

Blockhouse is a bit more decadent, but not proportionally better. Service is a bit pushy.

The champagne and wines were excellent, and the service was very friendly. The ambiance was very stylish. We were somewhat disappointed with some of the food. The shrimp were a bit overcooked, and the filet mignon was unfortunately a bit overcooked. Surf and turf was great, and the beef fillet was also very good. The seat near the kitchen was a bit noisy, but there were no smells of cooking.

Certainly one of the best steak restaurants in Northern Germany. From the initial consultation to the entire service throughout the evening, everything was perfect. The food is incredibly delicious. The Caesar salad being prepared at your table is something truly special. It's not exactly cheap, but the overall package is worth it. I'd be happy to go back anytime.

Perfect Steak 🥩 at Theos This was my third visit to Theos in Hamburg – this time with friends – and I was absolutely thrilled again. My steak (medium well) was cooked to perfection, which is truly rare. Many restaurants can't quite pull that off, but here it was perfect! The service was attentive, quick, and well-trained without being overly pretentious. You feel completely well looked after. The side dishes were also delicious – the fries were nice and crispy, and the truffle mashed potatoes were super flavorful without being too heavy. Everyone at the table was absolutely thrilled – a successful evening. We'll definitely be back!

We ate at Theo's with the whole family, and it was an all-around fantastic experience. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we received a warm welcome, which immediately created a pleasant atmosphere. The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and professional – we felt truly in good hands. For starters, we had oysters and a Caesar salad – both were fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The highlight, of course, were the steaks: we had a rum steak and a rib eye, both grilled to a perfect medium, wonderfully juicy, and cooked to perfection. The quality of the meat was outstanding. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. If you want to enjoy a good steak in a pleasant atmosphere, this is the place for you. We would definitely be back!

Matching side dishes and a great wine selection rounded off the whole experience. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and always available without being intrusive. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair for this quality. For us, one of the best steak restaurants in Hamburg – we'll definitely be back!

The quality of the food at Theos is solid – the fillet steak was cooked to perfection, and while the appetizer and side dishes weren't exceptional, they were flavorful. Unfortunately, the service doesn't live up to the standards a restaurant in this price range would like to convey. My husband wanted a larger steak than the 200g steak offered on the menu. Due to the unavailability of a 300g steak, we were offered two steaks instead – without any explanation that this wouldn't be treated as two separate dishes: Only two side dishes were served, even though the menu explicitly states two side dishes per steak, and both steaks were charged in full. An error that we ourselves only noticed during the payment process. When we asked about it, the mistake was acknowledged – but the lady initially defended herself with a false explanation ("Two side dishes are allowed per person"). After looking at the menu, she admitted the error and then came up with the unhelpful offer to bring the missing side dishes later. In a restaurant of this price range, we expect transparency in ordering, a professional approach to feedback, and attentive, confident service – even in stressful situations. Unfortunately, the staff seemed consistently under time pressure and more concerned with speeding up the visit. However, in an establishment of this category, attentive treatment of guests should be a given, even under stress. We also received no response to a subsequent written response, which further reinforced the disappointing impression. Overall, the food was interesting from a culinary perspective, but with significant weaknesses in the service, communication, and hospitality – a shame and inappropriate given the standards and price level.

We've been to Theo's several times, but yesterday we felt extremely uncomfortable. The food was, as usual, truly excellent; however, the dining room was so hectic and loud that it was practically impossible to have a conversation. Our waiter seemed rushed and annoyed, and this was only 15 minutes after the restaurant opened at 6:00 PM. Our aperitif (by the way, €16 per glass) took an extremely long time to arrive – when we asked about it, we were told it was due to the high volume of orders at opening – does this happen every day? The drinks menu was quickly taken away from us after we ordered our food; which would have been fine if at least someone had been attentive enough to notice our glasses were empty by then. When we actively asked for more drinks, our waiter seemed rather irritated… The steaks arrived, but the side dishes didn't arrive at the same time – "Just get started, the sides are secondary"…?! Finally, he suddenly and without asking placed the bill on the table and simply said, "Two seatings." We felt like we'd been thrown out. A tip of €22 for this poor service was accepted without a word or a thank you. Sorry, but at these prices, we expect decent service, which is what we've always experienced at Theo's.

I recently visited the restaurant "Theos" in Hamburg, and overall, it was a very pleasant evening! The cocktails are simply excellent. The service was also great, friendly, and attentive. The food was very good overall, although my steak was unfortunately not cooked perfectly and was a bit dry. That spoiled the experience a bit. Everything else, however, was perfect, and I'm looking forward to returning soon and trying the rest of the menu.

I was truly pleasantly surprised: Even though it was a Friday evening and THEO'S is usually fully booked, I managed to get a seat on the terrace at very short notice – a perfect start to the evening. The service was consistently excellent: extremely friendly, attentive, and above all, knowledgeable – the staff know exactly what they're talking about when it comes to meat quality and preparation. I opted for the American Prime Rib Eye (medium) – and what can I say: it was a dream! The dry-aging process gives the steak a distinctively intense flavor, the crust was spot-on, perfectly caramelized, and the meat incredibly tender and juicy. An all-around harmonious experience where everything really hit the spot. Conclusion: THEO'S is not just an upscale steakhouse, but a true recommendation for connoisseurs. The steak was worth every penny – I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, I can't let my review below stand – constructive criticism via email goes unanswered. We won't be back. This was in 2023: We went here for dinner based on the very good reviews. It was fantastic! Beautiful ambiance, very friendly service, excellent food – truly everything was perfect. We did notice two very minor things, but they didn't detract from the evening at all: no one noticed the empty bottle of water – we had to order a replacement. And the bill was incomplete – the wine was missing. We had it corrected. But this didn't ruin the evening in the slightest. We will definitely come back and highly recommend Theo's!

Very friendly staff, always smiling and attentive to serving drinks. The food is of excellent quality, which is naturally reflected in the price. It's definitely worth repeating. I would like to point out that I thought it was great that we waited for dessert until other guests were seated next to us.

Top Steakhouse in Hamburg! If you want a truly excellent steak, you have to go to Theo's! The restaurant is located in the Hotel Grand Elysée, but is open to the public. Due to the limited number of seats, reservations are recommended. The attentive staff will take your coat, and the table service is prompt, efficient, and always at the right moment. You can order from the menu or ask for advice on the various options. For example, you can have different cuts of meat prepared to order or order a complete à la carte meal. The food itself is fantastic and incredibly delicious. A nice touch is the Caesar salad prepared at your table. The special preparation of the meat makes it incredibly tender and crispy on the outside; you can, of course, specify your desired level of doneness. A variety of side dishes and sauces are available. If you still have room, you can finish with a sweet treat. There's also an extensive drinks menu and a selection of fine wines. Naturally, this comes at a price, but it's worth it. One small note regarding timing: There are two dinner slots. We had the first one in the evening and had to move after dinner, which shouldn't have been a problem. However, we were told that a table had been reserved for us in the hotel bar, which unfortunately wasn't the case. Despite this minor, avoidable inconvenience, it was a fantastic evening and therefore highly recommended for all steak lovers!

Theo’s impresses with first-class food, great drinks, and a stylish atmosphere – the perfect place for a delightful evening in Hamburg. The dishes are cooked to perfection, high-quality, and truly delicious. The service is friendly and pleasantly discreet, though it could be a bit more attentive and proactive at times. There's also room for improvement in the wine selection – a little more expertise and knowledgeable recommendations would be welcome. Our insider tip: Be sure to try the New York cheesecake – it's divine! And the South African grapejuice is an excellent non-alcoholic alternative with real character. We'll definitely be back!

The best rib-eye I've ever eaten (and there have been many): perfect meat, perfectly prepared in a very friendly and cool atmosphere

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and our coats were stored in a cloakroom. The staff was very well-trained and attentive to our needs. I must especially commend Madeleine; she was with us throughout the evening and always went out of her way to make us happy. However, I do have one negative point: when our dessert arrived, we were asked if we could move to another table. In my opinion, this was unacceptable, as a table for four became available just five minutes later. We did receive an amuse-bouche, but this too was disappointing, as it contained alcohol, which was quite unpleasant for someone who doesn't drink alcohol. Nevertheless, the food and the ambiance were both excellent. We would gladly return.

One of the best steak restaurants - if not the best - in Germany. I love „The Grill“ in Munich and some other lovely places, however the very nice bar aside with great cocktails as a start and then perfectly grilled meat and tasty wine - with fresh and willingly service - makes this venue a very special place. P.S. also oyster for starters are delicious!

A truly heartfelt recommendation – I treated my fiancé to dinner and we were absolutely delighted. The staff was incredibly attentive, the meat quality was second to none, and the atmosphere was lovely. The value for money is truly excellent.

I'd like to describe our experience from April 18, 2025. It was phenomenal. Reason: I've been to steakhouses all over the world, but in Germany, there isn't a single one that truly has the character of a NYC restaurant. At Theo's, it's different. What a wonderful meal. For starters, we had a Caesar salad, prepared at our table. The flavors were perfectly balanced. Then we each had a 350g rib eye. Perfectly cooked, wonderfully seasoned, with optimal roasted aromas. As a side dish, we had fries and broccoli. The broccoli was extremely good. For dessert, I ordered an espresso. Even here: that's exactly what an espresso should be. Very strong and aromatic, almost syrupy. Almost forgot: the wine list is very extensive; you're sure to find something you like. I had a good wine from California, wonderful. The service is also good. A very nice young lady at the reception. At the table, the young blond waiter, as well as Savas and Levant, served us. The wine and espresso took a while, but it wasn't bad. The ambiance was first-class, lots of wood, not too bright, and black-and-white photos from the States on the wall. You could turn the music up a bit with Frank Sinatra and the like. I sat there and simply enjoyed it; my wife was happy too. I'll be coming from Paderborn more often now, taking a stroll through the city, and then eating with you. The food was truly delicious, and I'd like to give a special shout-out to one of the waiters at the bar – he was very attentive and helpful, even though he was clearly very busy. Overall, however, the service left a lot to be desired: During the main course, they didn't even ask if everything was OK. The staff was friendly, but seemed unattentive. Overall, the value for money wasn't right for me. Perhaps we were just unlucky – or the hotel's standards have changed since then.

Good restaurant. The fillet steak was very good. The puree was unfortunately too runny. The website menu unfortunately doesn't match the one on site. I'll be back anyway.

I ate the best rib-eye steak of my life in this restaurant – and that's no exaggeration. The marbling, the perfect crust, the intense flavor… I honestly don't know if it can be topped. Even days later, I still think about it – simply fascinating. The service is also of the highest standard. You're guided through the menu, whether it's meat or wine. Everything is explained competently, with attention to every detail. You feel completely in good hands. The ambiance also fits the overall picture perfectly: luxurious, stylish, high-quality – but not pretentious. I would go back anytime for this rib-eye – and I really recommend everyone to try it for themselves. Full marks, without question!

Best steak restaurant in Hamburg!

Unpleasant clientele, speaking in slang and talking loudly on the phone. Service was unfortunately overwhelmed (we waited 30 minutes to order, and then my wife's drink was forgotten). Virtually no apology or consideration. The food was good, though! Used to be our absolute favorite restaurant. Currently, it's just disappointing.

Wow! The meat was perfectly prepared, and the service was very attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable, and the kids also had a great time with the little surprise bags from the restaurant. There's also a small children's menu! All in all, we had a great and, above all, delicious evening. Thank you!

A truly excellent restaurant! Top quality, top service, top ambiance! We had an excellent meal, received very courteous and professional service, and felt very comfortable. We arrived a little early and were very kindly escorted to the bar. Our table was ready faster than our cocktails, which were then, of course, served to us at our seats in the restaurant. We had three starters, a fillet steak, and a lobster. Matching wines were recommended.

The porterhouse steak was amazing! The price is quite high, but the evening was still worth it.

Despite having a reservation, we had to wait a good 10 minutes at the bar. The cocktails were good, but nothing more. Service was initially good, but later became rather slow because people at other, larger tables were happy to chat longer (not a problem in principle, but it would be nice to keep an eye on the other guests). We even sat there for a while without drinks, couldn't reorder, and then it took a really long time for anything to arrive. Maybe we were just unlucky. When it's full, it can get a bit noisy in the large room. It didn't bother us, but depending on the occasion, it might have been too much. The food was excellent; we had steak and lobster (which could have been prepared a bit better in the sophisticated setting, or perhaps they should have asked the guests if they really wanted to handle lobster tongs and the like in evening attire) with various side dishes. The bread that was served beforehand was also very tasty and had a wonderful crust.

I tried various steak restaurants, but in the end, this one was truly the best. The service was a bit overly friendly, but it was OK. I'll definitely be back.

We had a great evening at Theo’s in early January. The meal was excellent. The USDA Prime T-Bone and the Scotch beef fillet were cooked to perfection, the side dishes were high quality and tasted excellent. The selection of drinks also impressed us. Unfortunately, there was a small glitch at the beginning with the starter plate, which was served with bread, even though we had asked several times for gluten-free food. After a friendly inquiry, the restaurant manager solved the situation professionally and attentively and looked after us excellently throughout the evening. Overall, an outstanding culinary experience with first-class service (from the management). We'd love to come back!

I visited the Theos restaurant in Hamburg on January 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. for a relaxed dinner for two. The restaurant's ambience is stylish and upscale, like a classic American steakhouse. The furnishings are elegant and the generous spaces between the tables ensure a pleasant level of privacy. The evening began at the bar, where a wide range of aperitifs and cocktails were offered, before we were escorted to our table. The menu focuses on seafood and steaks, which is reflected in the quality and preparation of the dishes. As starters we chose the Caesar Salad and Surf & Turf, which were prepared at the table and both tasted great. For the main courses we chose a filet mignon and a rib-eye steak, where the friendly waitress competently helped us select the pieces. The side dishes – Theo Fries, mushrooms and leaf spinach – rounded off the taste experience perfectly. A special highlight was the crème brûlée with nougat ice cream as dessert. We were also impressed by the extensive wine list, which offers open wines. The waiting times between courses were ideal and everything was always accompanied in a friendly manner. The service was consistently young, friendly and professional. The service was attentive, informative and pleasantly unobtrusive, which created a relaxed atmosphere. During our visit we felt very comfortable and relaxed, despite the well-filled restaurant. Thanks to the generous table spacing, we never had the feeling of being cramped or having to compete with the table next door. The Theos impresses with its stylish furnishings, excellent meat quality and attentive service, which sets the restaurant apart from others. I particularly recommend Theos for couples or business lunches, although you should definitely have a preference for steaks and seafood. It's definitely worth a visit and I'm looking forward to coming back soon!

Great! I had one of the best meals of my life here. We were there on time at the reserved time and were shown straight to our seats. The service was good and attentive, we have no complaints. It was a great, special experience eating at Theos and we can absolutely recommend it.

Unfortunately, I can't quite understand the hype surrounding this place. When we arrived we were kindly escorted to the bar by the lady at reception. We got there about five minutes before our reserved time. However, we had to wait 15 minutes at the bar before we were taken to our table. The room was neither full nor fully booked, so I suspect this was an attempt to encourage us to buy cocktails or other drinks. Once at the table, we were seated at a nice, large, round table with plenty of space. The orders were taken quickly, but we had to wait a long time for the drinks. While the starters were served quickly, the main course took a long time. About the food itself: It was solid, but by no means outstanding – especially not for the price range. The steak was only lukewarm, but the side dishes tasted very good. However, the portions of the side dishes were small and the dips, which were intended for six people, were clearly too few. All in all, it was an acceptable experience and the prices were right for what was offered. However, I would not describe the kitchen as high quality, as it is marketed on the Internet. Unfortunately, I can’t fully understand the hype around this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and escorted to the bar. For me the best steakhouse in Hamburg and perhaps in Germany. Best quality, great waitresses and waiters. The only improvement of the evening could have been my company.

A very stylish atmosphere with incredibly friendly and courteous staff. Great service complements the excellent food. The steaks are perfectly prepared, as are the side dishes. A minimal point, it was full and therefore a bit noisy. But that's complaining at a very high level.

We had to cancel our reservation because Theos is dog-friendly. We are better off with Henriks and Claas. It's a shame that you can't tolerate a little mini Pomeranian.

Food was nice, wines too. However the general behavior and service of the people were not that level of the restaurant they advertised and priced. There are other places in Hamburg in that class with way better service and atmosphere.

Food was OK for a house of this category, nothing more and nothing less. Quite a nice atmosphere, although the seating is cramped and the entrance is a bit confusing. The service is lowlight because it seems quite fake and therefore not very authentic. The best came for last - immediately after paying the bill of >400 EUR, in the middle of a conversation and after only about 1:50 hours, we were asked to leave the (reserved) table because it was needed for other guests. That's embarrassing for a house in this price range. We're definitely not coming back.

Unfortunately, Theos is no longer what it used to be! Service has dropped significantly, portions have become smaller and prices have increased. Too bad!
