Unfortunately, we were charged €3 for tap water, which I found a bit cheeky. Considering the otherwise very pleasant experience, I can overlook it.

When no one's open at the airport on a Sunday, you naturally head straight for an Italian restaurant… But that's not a bad thing at all, because it's really, really good. Admittedly crowded. But really good. A great selection and good quality. And lots of things you wouldn't normally find on your average Italian menu. The atmosphere is very nice, but as I said, it's very cramped and therefore feels very crowded.

An absolute insider tip near the airport! You'll be warmly welcomed upon arrival – the staff are not only friendly, but also incredibly smart, attentive, and have a good sense of humor. The food was simply fantastic – fresh, authentic, and prepared with love. You can taste Italy in every bite! 🍝🍷 We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness – even the restrooms were immaculate (unfortunately, this isn't a given). Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the price. The pizza wasn't bad, but unfortunately, it wasn't particularly good either, and it was simply too expensive! The pana cotta wasn't good either. But then again, most people don't manage that! The server was very friendly, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is also nice and cozy. The fresh orange juice was delicious, but unfortunately, it was the best part of the whole meal. It's a shame about the prices.

I ate there with friends and family for the second time yesterday, so I can now rate a total of seven dishes. This will also be my last visit, as the experience wasn't any better than the first: An Italian restaurant where the chicken burger tastes better than pizza and pasta—find the mistake! The lasagna consisted of a single sheet of pasta, and the sauce was questionable. The pizza was sloppy. The dish with the black pasta and shrimp was pretty bland. The Frutti di Mare sauce was sour/bitter. Guys, tomato sauce needs sugar, tell your kitchen that! The food came so quickly both times, there can't be any quality behind it. It's simply too expensive for that! Stars are given for the very friendly waiters and the cozy atmosphere. But that's not the reason I go to a restaurant...

Italian restaurant in Gateway Gardens. If you're staying overnight and don't want to drive into town, you'll find a solid Italian restaurant here. The pizza and pasta dishes are good. Unfortunately, the service was a bit overwhelmed due to the high demand. The restaurant has modern decor, but unfortunately, it's a bit noisy and therefore not very cozy. We travel to this airport hotel area annually for work and always frequent this restaurant at all times of day! They have some of the best non-alcoholic drink options in the area with many sparkling fruit juice options and coffee choices. Their breakfast options are a little disappointing but their lunch and dinner menu are phenomenal. Wait staff are very friendly, chairs are very comfortable, and the atmosphere is light and lively late at night. We highly recommend the fruit juice drink options - the fresh squeezed orange juice is amazing and something we can not find many places back home in Florida where oranges are grown all over! Their margarita pizza is also very good and flavorful!

I've never had such fast service. We ordered two drinks and two pizzas. The drinks arrived within two minutes. And the pizzas also arrived after ten minutes, even though the place was packed. The atmosphere was very nice; we immediately felt at home. We'd like to thank you for the service and especially for the delicious pizzas. The Italians in the Ruhr area should take a leaf out of their book.

Little bit loud, food was tasty and service fast

The waiter brought out a chicken burger instead of the beef burger we ordered but my wife was very hungry and ate most of it. The minestrone soup was way too salty. My risotto had no flavor and the shrimp was overcooked. We would not recommend this place

A very cool location with a diverse selection of dishes – there's something for everyone here. We chose tuna salad with garlic pizza sticks and tortellini de la casa. Both portions were generous and delicious! The service was friendly and attentive, both at the reception and at the table. The prices are above average, but also reasonable. It's a great place to treat yourself to something delicious before your trip starts ;-)

After my dessert, I was completely ignored for over half an hour, despite being near the kitchen and server station. When I finally got my server's attention and asked if it was customary to ask for the check, he said, 'Yes, in Germany.' But in my two weeks in Cologne, I've never had to do that. It felt like they were only interested in taking my order, and showed no interest in checking on me or providing a good dining experience. Their service felt very cold and impersonal.

We were here twice – before and after our vacation. It was kind of nice, but also kind of not. We were asked to move to a table for two. The tables were so close together (outside) that we had no privacy. The pizza was okay, the salad was small and unexciting. We enjoyed the Montepulciano and the coffee.

We had one of the worst experiences at this restaurant. We arrived around 9 PM and asked if they did takeout. At first, the staff member (an Asian man, possibly the owner or manager) said they don’t offer takeout. As we were leaving, he stopped us and said he would “find a way” and offered to serve us at a table, then give us boxes to pack the food ourselves. From the beginning, he pressured us to order drinks, saying they wouldn't take our food order without drinks. Then, we asked about the pizza sizes, and he told us they were individual-sized – only enough for one person. Based on that information, we ordered five pizzas. We were tourists and unfamiliar with the area, so we trusted what he said. When the pizzas arrived, we were shocked — they were huge and clearly meant for multiple people. We could barely finish two of them and had to give the rest away at our hotel because we had no way to store or transport them. On top of that, they brought the boxes before the food arrived and made us pay and tip upfront, which felt very pushy. After the food came and we questioned him about the size, he just smiled and kept saying, “Okay, thank you, you can leave now.” It felt dismissive and dishonest. We ended up spending over €100 on a meal we couldn’t even finish because we were misled. The whole experience felt like a scam, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Be cautious — especially if you're not local

I usually never leave bad reviews, but my experience with one of the extremely rude staff members has led me to write this. We were sitting at our table when the waitress, after taking an order from the table next to us, came over and asked if we needed anything. I asked for a menu at the same time the gentleman from the other table also requested something. Instead of handling the situation politely, she grabbed a menu from the table behind her, slammed it onto our table, and said, “I can’t split myself into two and serve two tables at the same time, can I?” The attitude was completely uncalled for, especially since she was the one who asked if we needed anything. Very disappointing experience — would not recommend.

The sliced pizza with bresaola and burrata was better, with good-quality ingredients. Recommended for a quick stop.

Friendly place and especially convenient because it is located in the Frankfurt airport area. The service is excellent. The meals are average.

The pizza Caprese was very small and quite pricy for its size. On top of that the pizza really wasn’t good. It tasted mostly neutral and was average on a good day. Also I don’t like paying 20 bucks including tip on a meal and an espresso that leaves me as hungry as before. Just my two cents.

I had to spend a day in Frankfurt and I discovered this restaurant by coincidence. There weren't halal restaurants nearby however this restaurant had many suitable vegetarian and vegan options so I went there for dinner and breakfast. Food was so good that I finished the whole plates which usually doesn't happen. Prices were very good too. I couldn't speak German but the staff spoke English and Spanish which was very convenient for me. The location is great is next to so many hotels and near the airport so you can watch planes if you chose the outdoor seating area.

I went there with my wife for dinner, and it was delicious. The food was delivered quickly, and we received very friendly service. Our table was on the terrace, and it was very loud there. We were unlucky enough to have people next to us talking on the phone for an hour on speakerphone. But even without it, it was very loud. For a romantic, quiet evening, I'd rather go somewhere else. It's very suitable for a good atmosphere or a business lunch. I want to mention the good food again :-)

Parking in Frankfurt is generally difficult, especially in this area. We were staying at a nearby hotel and went to this bistro because they didn't serve breakfast after 10:30 a.m. We liked the concept: You can eat there anytime – with no time limit, which is nice. It's really nice and cozy inside, and okay outside. The chairs outside didn't seem particularly sturdy to me, but they served their purpose. I had a beef burger – it tasted okay, but rather small for the price. A positive was that I could get vegetables instead of fries. My wife's meal was much better – delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service was poor: hardly any eye contact, no one asked if we wanted anything else – overall, it seemed as if the waitresses weren't particularly interested. This significantly tarnishes the overall impression. Conclusion: Three stars. The food and ambiance were okay, but nothing special. The service was disappointing. Overall okay, but not convincing enough to come back or recommend it.

Food is mediocre at best and the service is almost non-existent.

Disappointing visit from an unfriendly, almost aggressive waiter. After a long day at work, my colleague and I wanted to relax and enjoy a pizza at "The Italian." Although the restaurant was at most one-third full, a waiter (with long brown hair in a braid) asked us to leave our chosen table for four by the window and sit at a smaller table for two – citing a "rule." When we asked why other guests were allowed to sit at four-person tables, the answer became contradictory: Outside, it supposedly doesn't matter where you sit. This made the rule arbitrary and difficult to understand. The way we were spoken to became increasingly brusque, the tone unfriendly, almost aggressive. After ordering, we felt so uncomfortable that we left the restaurant. Other employees seemed irritated; apparently, our impression wasn't entirely unfounded. If rules are more important than treating guests with respect, especially in a nearly empty restaurant, something is fundamentally wrong. Friendliness costs nothing, but it scares away fewer people than unnecessary strictness or rules. What a shame!

The Italian is located near the hotels in the Gateway Gardens area and was a great place for lunch during an overnight stay in Frankfurt. Despite the concert-related crowds that day, we easily got a table for two. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. The service was excellent: Despite the busyness, the staff were relaxed, friendly, and happy to have a quick chat. The food arrived quickly, was attractively presented, and very tasty. The Italian will be on our list for our next visit.
