The burger is advertised as "New York style", I was not aware of this particular type. The peculiar thing is that the hamburger is not flat, but is practically a ball of meat. They use English muffins as bread, which makes the sandwich very small, and in my opinion a little too expensive for what you get. The fries are fantastic though!

Here is a possible rating: --- **Disappointing experience** I have rarely had such a disappointing experience in a restaurant. Of the five dishes we ordered, one was completely forgotten and the fries we received were soggy and inedible. Everything was extremely greasy, making it almost impossible to enjoy. The salad was a mini portion and tasted unpleasantly of egg, which didn't fit at all. Unfortunately, the staff was also unfriendly and we didn't feel welcome. The ambience was equally uninviting and only made the entire experience more unpleasant. Overall it was a disappointment - I won't go here again.

In my previous review I was impressed with the burgers. These continue to maintain a good level. However, the fillet steak was a bit disappointing. However, the Caesar salad was a bitter disappointment: the chicken seemed extremely inferior and almost inedible. Such quality should actually be criticized. Of course, you don't go to a fast food restaurant primarily because of the salad. Nevertheless, the operation was an absolute no-go. She was extremely rude and didn't even react when she accidentally dropped an entire tray of glasses right next to us. Not even an apology or an inquiry as to whether we received anything followed. This is behavior that is unacceptable in the restaurant industry

Burger doesn't come with sauce, but the meat and brioche buns are damn good. Each burger is also available as a veggie version with Beyond Meat. The homemade fries are top notch!

An institution in Hamburg when it comes to burgers for years! We were always very satisfied, even if the burgers were a bit unconventional. There is something for every taste and the steaks and chicken nuggets are also amazing. The cheesecake is highly recommended for dessert. Always nice to be here!

The burgers are great, but unfortunately the service has deteriorated. There was no cutlery at the table and the waitress hardly looked at our drinks. Pay at the bar. Were there quite early on a Tuesday (7 p.m.), only saw one waitress.

I had a burger with cheddar. According to the menu, the patty was 250g. It was also a decent buzzer, but apart from the size, nothing particularly noticeable. The fries were very tasty. The service wasn't that good. When we tried to order food at the same time, the waitress rolled her eyes. Instead of being happy, find a way to save money. Overall she wasn't particularly friendly either. She simply placed the plates where it suited her best, not to the person who ordered the dish in question. Ambiance....well.....clean and tidy. It doesn't have to be more than that.

Two of us went for dinner and we ordered a hamburger, which comes with fries and a little salad. One of the best I've tried, highly recommended, they have a menu in Spanish and one of the waitresses also speaks Spanish.

Attention, the following information corresponds to my sole subjective opinion: The spice lies in the brevity: an up and down. Appetizers: -Chicken strips: 8/10 -Chicken wings “mild”: 7/10 -Chicken wings “hot”: 3/10 (much too hot for “medium hot” Main course: -The house burger “the bird”: 3/10 (unfortunately too salty and “way” too greasy… the burger bun was very tough, patty was way too soft and the burger “swam” in cheese and sauce - sorry but too much.) -French fries: Hands down - 11/10 (super tasty!) Service: - The orders were taken very late even though the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. - the two female service staff were unfortunately very stressed and unfortunately sometimes not particularly polite. Ambience: - The restaurant has interesting acoustics and it was “very loud”. - Typical diner atmosphere, very successful - The toilets (1/2 broken) were unfortunately not particularly clean - but the guests can primarily help. Conclusion: We'd love to come back for the fries.

We arrived 10 minutes before closing. There were only a couple of couples at the tables and a guy (who I understand was the boss) gave the go-ahead. We sat down and he turned on the kitchen to serve us. For us it was important to try the Hamburger there since it had been recommended to us. EVERYTHING GREAT THE TRUTH (Price, quantity, flavor, quality, attention).

Hello team from the bird hamburg, from the outside it's a lot of fun and with the right sociability, you could very well end up with you. We recommend that you prepare well for your visit and have some previous knowledge of American food. The beef and cheese sandwich is really cool, as are other dishes in this diner, very comfortable and the rustic furnishings allow a good flair to come through here. It is the first time outside the US that someone has asked me if I want the meat inside of the hamburger rare, medium or well-done. The foods arrived a bit later than we expected but we loved the taste.

Cheap toasties from Aldi as a burger bun are a joke... Food and drinks took a long time. Fries were very tasty.

We were there with a larger group and when we made the reservation we were quickly shown to our seats. The drinks were brought to us after a short time, we had to wait for the food and then we all got it at the same time. We got almost all citizens and were asked whether we wanted the burgers well done or medium. It is a big mistake to eat burgers, i.e. minced meat, partially raw, as they must be completely heated to kill potential germs. I wanted my burger through a few and ordered it medium rare. The burger patty at The Bird is a very wide, large meat patty, so I ask the kitchen to pay more attention to preparing the meat more intensively. The core of my burger was medium rare and some of our burgers were still bloody and only partially eaten; they couldn't eat the rest of the patty. When the waitress came back to us to clear away, we mentioned it and were told that next time we could ask for them to be put back on the grill, but that was quite late at the time when you bit on the spots and those affected got short ones offered as compensation, which speaks for the service. But as a harsh criticism of the kitchen again, the minced meat needs to be prepared more carefully. Some of us became sick during our digestive walk and one person vomited, which was a major setback for the evening we had planned. Actually, we intended that if someone “pooped” or vomited it would be because they consumed too much alcohol and not because of a burger that came off the grill too quickly. The fries were good but more mayo for larger groups would be better.

Ordered the burger medium and received it raw, not edible. Because a nightcap was offered as compensation, there are two stars instead of one… The burger is not recommended!

I got the crispy chicken sandwich. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. It came with pickles and a huge portion of fries. They offer menus in German and English. We went with a large group and the food was too everyone's order and service quick for what you'd expect.

Unfortunately, the hoped-for taste explosion with the BBQ burger did not materialize. Either the barbecue sauce wasn't on the burger at all or the barbecue sauce didn't taste good. Unfortunately, some of the fries weren't crispy, but rather limp. The service was friendly and at least the drinks were delivered quickly.

The burger buns are COLD toasties, game over for me! The patty was a thick ball and the satat, which actually belongs to the citizen, was lying next to it to cover the plate. If I then have to ask for ketchup with my fries (in a burger shop), well... I unfortunately don't like the canteen at all.

The burger paddies are very very thick. Smash burgers are really in right now… that would be a recommendation. The chicken wings were delicious and my salad was ok too. The location is suitable for groups and perfect for grabbing something to eat before a neighborhood evening with friends. Very nice waitress!

When “The Bird” was still one of the few burger restaurants, people were still enthusiastic. Now it is being overtaken by the competition left and right. There are now much better addresses within walking distance, both in terms of the quality of the food and, above all, in terms of service and warmth. Service during three visits was once snooty, once listless and once overwhelmed. At least that's how it seemed. And please... All self-respecting burger restaurants now bake their own rolls or work with bakeries that have developed something special. You still build your burgers between a toasty. :(

Unfortunately only a digital menu, the drinks came quickly. The food took a long time to arrive, even though there weren't 6 tables there on Sunday evening. After the wait, the food was a complete disappointment except for the sandwich. We didn't touch the Caesar salad after two bites; it simply tasted very greasy. The Buffaloes too. Unfortunately, we were at least unable to complain or return the salad because no one asked during the meal whether we liked it. All in all rather disappointing, it's only worth it for the sandwich.

Overrated. The place has a slighlty south german feel to it. Service was totally overwhelmed by the sudden arrival of guests (on a friday evening, who would have thought) with our waitress getting a bit of a temper when we addressed the matter. The food wasnt great, the chicken tasted like it was all put in the fryer and just served without any seasoning or other taste incentives. All in all a pretty disappointing experience. The only plus was the other waitress who also took charge of the bar that evening and tried to help our waitress out but in a very friendly manner.

The burgers are okay. Meat patties could be tastier compared to other burger places. Fries tasty but not crispy. Delicious beer selection on tap.

Strong taste and diverse menu. Original American taste. The three of us were there on a Saturday evening and ate and drank very well. The chicken wings are great and I was particularly happy that there were also buffalo hot wings, which taste like they do in the USA and are rarely found in Germany. Perfect! The cheesesteak sandwich was also perfect. There are a lot of options for the burgers, but I didn't find it particularly successful. It was a small but very thick patty. Well fried, but I personally like it a little flatter and wider. These would also be easier to eat. But everything tasted OK. Only the fries could have been crispier. But I really liked the brilliant ending with the best cheesecake. We will be back.

Unfortunately our order was forgotten. After 45 minutes we asked. The drinks were on the house and the food came after another 30 minutes even though we were the only guests who got something to eat. Burgers were average good.

Even if the place looks a bit like a canteen, the burgers and the rest of the food have been good for many years. Unlike other stores, I like it. My absolute recommendation is the cheesecake - definitely share it, it's not a real bomb!

We're particularly fond of the Da Woiks, it's so incredibly delicious! And if burgers aren't your thing, they also have some amazing steaks, like their flank steak. It was incredibly juicy, tender, cooked to perfection, and didn't feel greasy at all. It's a must-try for any steak enthusiast. The portions are generous, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. We highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as the place gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends. Moin, leckerer fleischklops auf Toastie. Wie haben 3 Bürger medium bestellt und 3verschiedene garstufen bekommen, einer war leider komplett roh,den hätte man zwar nochmal raufmachen können, aber diejenige, hatte leider kein Appetit mehr. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, kleiner Gruß aus der Küche hatte gut getan,wenn wir schon den vollen Preis bezahlen. Trotzdem nett die Leute und deswegen ein Grund mal vorbeizuschauen.

Einfach ohne Worte...habe ich so noch nie erlebt. Habe ein Burger bestellt der komplett Roh angekommen ist. Habe direkt im Restaurant angerufen...die waren extrem frech und unfreundlich. Haben nur abgewiegelt und gesagt das das nicht sein kann, mich als Lügner dargestellt und aufgelegt. Danach nicht mehr erreichbar. Wolt hat mir das Essen netterweise ersetzt...aber es bleibt ein fader Nachgeschmack...werde da definitiv nie wieder bestellen.

Das essen war sehr gut. Bis auf die Fritten die echt nicht knusprig waren und etwas zu kalt waren. Das Steak war gut gegrillt und hätte etwas mehr Würze gebrauchen können. Die Steak Sauce war dafür echt köstlich. Der Laden ist sehr laut und könnte etwas gemütlicher sein. Und er ist etwas zu teuer. Bei der Lage überraschen die Preise aber nicht. Die Portionen sind sehr groß! Die Burger gewaltig!

The best burger restaurant in town, I am a local and I regularly visit it. And I really like the very friendly staff, good music and food & drinks quality. And the shop is owner-managed and doesn't belong to a large chain like the other food restaurants in St Pauli

Das Steak war außergewöhnlich gut! Die Bedienung hat etwas länger gebraucht, es war aber auch gut besucht und viel zu tun. Komme gerne wieder!

War ganz nett, aber den Hype nicht wert. Die Starter waren gut, aber der Burger nicht mehr als Durchschnitt.

Freitagabend, der Laden war brechend voll, Service und Küche kamen nicht ganz hinterher. Ambiente ist nüchtern, könnte ein wenig mehr Ideen vertragen. Der Burger war richtig lecker, da gabs nicht zu meckern.

Komme seit Jahren gern ins The Bird, um dort die fantastischen Hot Wings & Fries zu genießen. Wir haben auch schon etliche Burger getestet und waren immer sehr zufrieden.

Bester Cheesecake der Welt! Ein Muss den mal probiert zu haben. Nehmt die Doppelburger auf der Platte mit Briochebrötchen - sehr lecker.

Ich kann nur über einen Burger mit "Guacamole" (Fat Gonzales o.ä.) drauf berichten: Mir wäre neu das Guacamole aus Aubergine besteht. Das hat mir zusammen mit der "Salatbeilage" nicht wirklich geschmeckt. Die Pommes haben mich auch nicht überzeugt. Aus irgendeinem Grund war die Bedienung auch sehr stark gernervt. Aber gut, jeder kann mal ein schlechten Tag haben

Betjeningen er ikke ligefrem imødekommende men maden er til gengæld ret god. Min burgerbøf var lækker og perfekt stegt! Jeg synes dog det er lidt en skam at den ikke blev serveret i en ordentlig briochebolle. Det havde den fortjent. Fries og øl var OK. Prisen er i den høje ende i forhold til måltidets størrelse.

Insgesamt ein annehmbarer Laden. Leider steht das Bird anderen Burger-Restaurants unserer Zeit in den Alternativen für Vegetarier enorm nach. Zwei vegetarische Burgervarianten, die beide nicht auf Protein sondern auf Gemüse basieren, hat mich persönlich leider enttäuscht. Das extra Fleischlos bestellte Sandwich war in Ordnung - aber leider nicht mehr. Dazu möchte ich gerne anmerken, dass unsere Fleischesser*innen sehr zufrieden waren. Ansonsten zur regulären 18:00 Zeit sehr voll und mit für mich überdurchschnittlicher Wartezeit.

Fassbier und frisch zubereitete Burger, was will man mehr! Die Burger gehören zu den saftigsten und geschmacklich besten, die wir gegessen haben. Durch den hohen Fleischanteil sind die Portionen genau richtig von der Größe. Der Steak and Fries Teller ist geschmacklich auch sehr zu empfehlen, vor allem die Sauce.

Ich war schon öfter im Birds, gehörte immer zum Standard Procedere wenn es auf den Kiez geht. Aufgefallen ist mir das es kein echter Bürger ist. Das klitzekleine Stück Muffin als "Brötchen" ist ein absolutes no go. Hab gleich mal geguckt ob das neu ist und musste zu meiner Überraschung feststellen das dies schon seit ein paar Jahren so ist. Also werden echten Bürger will muss 1,50 Euro drauflegen um ein vernünftiges Brötchen zu bekommen. Die eigentlich voll Katastrophe sind die pommes. 0 knusprig, vollgesogen mit Fett. Geschmack absolute Hölle. Bestellt bloß keine pommes. Ich habe noch nie so schlechte pommes gegessen, bzw. Nicht angerührt. Die waren wirklich ekelhaft. Das Fleisch bzw. Party ist aber tatsächlich super lecker. Das ist ne glatte 1. Witzig war das die Bedienung durchsichtige Leggins trug. Gott sei Dank konnte die Dame es tragen. War also okay aber sehr merkwürdig

Der "da birdhouse" ist für Einsteiger unbedingt zu empfehlen. Der beste Burger den ich je gegessen habe. Die Wings auf jeden Fall nicht in der höchsten Schärfe-Stufe bestellen, der brennt bei mir immer noch und medium ist immer noch ordentlich pikant. Der New York Cheesecake sucht seines gleichen - echt gut! Der Service ist zwischen OK und ganz gut, hängt aber stark von der Bedienung ab. Ohne Reservierung geht da selten was, außer man ist zu zweit und geht auch gerne mal an die Theke. Update 2023: Starker Service, Rest immer noch geil

Puh ne, irgendwie nicht. Ich hatte den "Filthy Harry" Burger und fand den gar nicht lecker. Das ist einfach nur ein dicker, gegrillter Fleischklops auf nem Supermarkt Toastie-Brötchen mit etwas Käse. Dazu liegt ein Salatblatt und ne Gewürzgurke mit auf dem Teller. Auf dem Burger war 0 Sauce, kein Ketchup, keine Mayo, gar nichts. Das hat die Angelegenheit ziemlich trocken gemacht. Und das für 16€!? Wenn ich hier in den Bewertungen "bester Burger in Hamburg" lese frage ich mich, wo diese Leute bisher Burger essen waren? Mir würden auf Anhieb fünf Läden einfallen, wo es besser geschmeckt hat. Naja, vielleicht hatte ich auch nur Pech und die Burger sind ansonsten fantastisch, aber mich hat der Laden (trotz netter Location & Bedienung) nicht überzeugt...

Wer auf authentische Amerikanische Küche steht, ist hier mehr als gut aufgehoben. Und ich rede nicht von den klassischen Burgern, sondern von echten Buffalo Wings :-)

Kurz und knapp gesagt: Wenn ich in eine Lokalität gehe, welche einen amerikanischen Touch hat, erwarte ich einen Burger, wie man ihn sich vorstellt. Hätte ich einen McMuffin gewollt, wäre ich zu McDonalds gegangen. Wieso man hier den Burger zwischen ein English Muffin macht ist mir ein Rätsel, gut essen kann man diesen völlig überladenen Muffin dann aber jedenfalls nicht. Geschmacklich war der Burger selbst ok jedoch war der English Muffin etwas zäh. Die Pommes, es tut mir leid das sagen zu müssen, aber diese haben nach allem geschmeckt. So als würde in der Küche alles in der Fritöse zubereitet werden und die Pommes nehmen dann diesen geschmack an. Vielleicht sollte hier mal ein anderes Öl/Fett verwendet werden, als wie das jetzige? Das Personal machte einen freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Eindruck. Zum Ende hin wollte man aber keine Kritik entgegen nehmen. Schade, dann hätte ich mich nicht hier äußern müssen.

Perfecta opción tras el paseo por San Pauli. Es una hamburguesa diferente, consistente, con poco pan y acompañada de patatas. Te pueden incluso atender en castellano. Aconsejamos reservar porque se llena.

Ich musste leider einen Stern vergeben, weil es nicht möglich ist, keinen Stern abzugeben. Wir haben in unserem gesamten Leben noch nie eine derartige Respektlosigkeit und Aggressivität in einem Lokal von einem Kellner erlebt. Nachdem der Kellner sehr unaufmerksam war und wir sehr lange ohne Getränk gesessen sind, haben wir beschlossen kein Trinkgeld zu geben. Mein Freund hat beim bezahlen daher nur den Betrag aufgerundet und daher nur 50 Cent Trinkgeld gegeben. Als er sich umdrehte und gehen wollte, hat der Kellner die 50 Cent genommen und auf den Kopf meines Freundes geworfen. Heutzutage ist es schwierig gutes Personal zu finden, doch einen solchen Kellner haben wir noch nie erlebt. Er war von Anfang an sehr unsympathisch und unfreundlich. Trotzdem waren wir höflich und respektvoll und es gab keinen Grund ausfällig zu werden.

Service war überfordert.. Cola ohne Kohlensäure. Wer auf amerikanische Burger steht ist hier fehl am Platz. Der „Ghetto Burger“ ist einfach eine Bulette im Toastie wie man ihn bei jedem Discounter im 4er pack für +- 1 € kaufen kann. Dazu gibt es ne Hand voll Pommes , eine Scheibe Tomate, 1 Salatblatz und 1/4 Gewürzgurke für11.40€. Für 1.50€ mehr bekommt man sogar noch eine Scheibe Schmelzkäse in discounter quali oben drauf. Fleisch Qualität war ok sonst würde ich 0 Sterne vergeben. Nie wieder….
