The tomato soup and steak I had were average. Maybe it's better to go with the burger options. Helpful staff and quick service. Prices are reasonable.

I've known Doris Diner for a really long time and it's good that the store exists. After the cinema, have something to eat in this atmosphere. The food is not for me. Fries, burgers and fryer stuff. Pure fat and sugar. Even the salads have American dressing. Lots of ice in the spritzers... The quality of the meat and fish is……much better elsewhere. But you really can't expect anything for the prices. Very friendly service.

We asked for a table for 5 people at short notice and got a place. The group in the restaurant was of Indian origin and also talked to each other and gave instructions in their language. However, the boss spoke German very well and was very attentive. Always asked if everything was OK and if drinks were needed without being intrusive. The selection was very good. Something for everyone. The portion sizes were exactly right. Special requests were also implemented without any problems. From the inside it looked exactly like you would imagine an American diner from the movie. Very cozy. The only “negative” thing was that everything seemed to be finished products. From the can or freezer. Nothing homemade. But still everything is of good quality, so only negative in quotation marks.

Unfortunately not good. The statement “best burgers in Hamburg” can clearly be contradicted. Whether a vegetarian burger is the measure of all things remains to be seen, but this was simply one of the worst in a long time. Unimaginative, a tasteless patty made from peas etc. Two "meat" burgers were ok, but absolutely nothing special, the buns extremely boring and sticky. The fries were delicious. Then a word about the store: Renovating is all well and good, but when the dirty ladder is in the restaurant (next to our table!), hmm. The spotlights were hanging loosely from the ceiling and our bench still had the masking tape on the backrest. Hmmmm again. The toilets, on the other hand, could desperately need a facelift. All in all in a major burger scene in HH, this is not a recommendation.

The food was soooo good, I felt full from just the starter. The burger was so delicious and filled me and my husband more than enough. Fries and the coleslaw were also very good. The service came immediately and was always nice and courteous, even though we had a wheelchair with us that had to be folded up in the aisle. You have to walk three large steps to get into the store. There are parking spaces but we were all occupied. You have to look for something... Check it out and enjoy! P.s the food came very quickly 😉

Maple syrup was advertised with the pancakes and was on the menu. When sugar syrup with an artificial vanilla/butter flavor came to the pancakes, I was slightly confused and after asking twice I was assured that it was real maple syrup, which was simply a lie. I was very disappointed with it, was able to throw the pancakes away because I poured the supposed maple syrup over them and I wasn't offered any compensation. The rest was ok, but something like that sticks so much that I get upset about it again after months.

Sehr tolles Diner, ansprechend eingerichtet und sehr schneller, guter Service. Das Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker! Der Cole Slaw wird selbst gemacht und das schmeckt man! Überhaupt nicht säuerlich, sondern angenehm sahnig - wie das Original. Dann hatten wir uns zu zweit den Apple Pie geteilt, auch selbst gemacht und herausragend gut! Portionen sind generell sehr groß und preislich mehr als im Ordnung! Klare Empfehlung!

Actually a great experience! It's a very inconspicuous, almost incongruous-looking diner that isn't run in an American way. Still extremely friendly, the food was excellent for the prices. I felt very comfortable, but it's certainly not for everyone. I can recommend it 99% (but of course it's subjective).

The owner is extremely nice and food delivery is fast, as it should be in a diner. But the atmosphere feels like the owner bought an American Diner and now doesn't really know what to do with it. The food is unfortunately mediocre at best, the claim "best burger in Hamburg" is under no circumstances justified, not even close.

Highly recommended if you like things simple and no frills. Doris Diner is and does what a U.S. style diner should be and do. There is good breakfast, lunch and dinner, friendly, efficient and very accommodating staff, a simply furnished and clean restaurant and a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Nothing fancy or over the top. Instead, the store focuses on the essential things and does them well. If you are looking for hand-made burger buns, hand-formed burger patties, elaborately prepared dishes, consistently homemade ingredients or an extravagant menu selection, you have come to the wrong place. But you shouldn't expect something like that from a diner. Dinner for two: Basic Salads, a United Combo to share, a Bacon Cheeseburger, a Macho Burger, Chili Fries to share and a Brownie & Ice Cream to share. The portions are generous. But the food was so delicious that we ate it all. The salads were crisp and colorful. The appetizers and burgers were hot, juicy and very tasty. Our least favorites were the Chili Fries (the French Fries on the bottom were too soggy for us) and the Brownie & Ice Cream (more chocolate cake than brownie, and hardly any chocolate flavor). The three varieties of fries (French Fries, American Twisters and Home Fries) were all freshly prepared and delicious. With one of the burgers we got French Fries instead of the American Twisters we ordered. The American Twisters were served shortly afterwards and we were allowed to keep the French Fries. We had many little extra requests in our order, all of which were fulfilled. We also got two green teas on the house with dessert. Overall, highly recommended for what it is. We will go again.

The store simply has tradition! The Doris Diner has been at home in Grindelhof for as long as I can remember. There are American classics and lots of charm to discover here! The food tastes good, even if the products are, admittedly, sometimes purchased. The burgers taste great, the milkshakes even more so and the breakfast is always impressive. Added to this are the absolutely fair prices and the fantastic service. The service here works with a lot of fun, wit and passion. Certainly also a success factor, which is why the store has existed for so long. The diner is and remains one of the top addresses for soul food in Hamburg. Often up very late, good atmosphere and delicious food! I keep coming back!

American restaurant at Grindelhof in a quiet side street. Recommended! Had dinner on Saturday evening without a reservation. You can sit outside which is perfect given the weather. Were greeted and served by the owner. I haven't experienced such friendly and courteous service in a restaurant for a long time. You can tell that the boss still works himself here. For the meal itself: good selection of American dishes and snacks. Changing daily menu. The steak was very tasty and everything was prepared fresh and quickly. The price is also completely okay. Conclusion: we had a great evening here and will definitely come back. An absolute recommendation from me 👍

First of all there were the onion rings which were delicious. We had a burger fries and an extra salad. The quality is absolutely fine, there's nothing to complain about. In terms of taste, however, it is very ordinary, without any aha effect. With a really tasty dip, the burger and fries could have been a treat. As I said, the quality was good, but what was made of it was a little disappointing.

I was here again today after a long time and was a little disappointed. The charm from before is no longer there - I found it dark and uncomfortable. I think that's a shame because there aren't many diners like this in Hamburg. The food was ok for the price quoted. Hopefully the store will make more of itself again.

I can't explain the many positive reviews. The burgers don't deserve the name. A tough, gray beyond recognition. Cheap sliced ​​cheese. Greasy, limp fries. The ribs were tough and tasted strong and old. The “barbecue sauce” that came with it was steak sauce from a bottle.. We didn't eat them, but our four-legged friend at home was happy about the patties. At least one. Only the interior is reminiscent of a diner. Despite it: I feel sorry for every American who comes here. Never again.

Had a really nice experience with Doris Dining. They were very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to stay and work there (even though the restaurant is not really meant for that) and helped us charge our devices. They were very flexible. We changed tables halfway and dropped a glass, which they all took very well. They were very friendly all the way.

Mixed feelings… The ambience is great. Very cozy. Nicely decorated. You feel good. The service is competent and friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn't really impress me. To me it tasted like a mixture of frozen food with a few fresh ingredients. Burger was too dry and the meat didn't really taste good. The starters similar. The prices are again good. Unfortunately I miss the taste and quality here. Otherwise, the restaurant is definitely very nice and has a lot of potential.

Ein Burger-Restaurant das mal nicht ist wie diese hippen aktuellen fancy Burger-Restaurants. Ein Muss für jeden. Zu Empfehlen ist ganz klar der Cheeseburger, welcher aber mit der Zeit leider etwas schlechter geworden ist, ich weiß nicht genau was sie verändert haben, aber seit ungefähr letztem Jahr ist der Burger etwas leider schlechter als vorher. Die Curly Fries sind auch sehr zu empfehlen, die schmecken überragend. Zum Nachtisch esse ich auch gerne den Apfelkuchen. Hier stimmt der Preis im Verhältnis zur Leistung wie in keinem anderen Restaurant mehr. Dazu kommt noch das der Kellner immer sehr Nett und zuvorkommend ist. Mit dem klassischen amerikanischen Ambiente ergibt das Restaurant wirklich ein gutes Gesamtpaket.

Bestelle hier ab und zu den Veggie Beyond Burger. Im Vergleich zu den „fancy Burgerrestaurants“ kann dieses Diner da echt gut mithalten! Bin jedes Mal positiv vom Geschmack des vegetarischen Pattys überrascht und komme gerne immer wieder. Der Besitzer und sein Team sind ebenfalls sehr zuvorkommend und nett, das macht es umso attraktiver!

Wir fühlten uns sehr gut aufgehoben in dem Restaurant. In der Speisekarte gab es kein veganes Gericht, der vegetarische Burger wurde für den Veganer sehr freundlich angepasst. Das Essen hat sowohl dem Veganer als auch dem Nicht-Veganer gut geschmeckt.

Das Essen hat prima geschmeckt, alles frisch zubereitet und keine lange Wartezeiten, der Preis war in Ordnung.

Lecker war es.. french Toast, John Wayne und Western Scramble war unsere Auswahl. Haben Doris Diner auch nur gefunden aufgrund den Bewertungen und Empfehlungen. Es hat sich gelohnt und kann ich nur empfehlen. Service ist sehr aufmerksam und sehr freundlich.

Der Laden hat ein sehr schönes amerikanisches Ambiente und die Bedienungwar sehr freundlich. Die Auswahl auf der Karte ist sehr groß und da ist für jeden etwas dabei der auf amerikanisches Essen steht wie z.b. Milkshakes jeder Sorte oder einfach Pancakes mit Ahornsyrup und Bacon. Auf Anfrage wurde mir sogar eine eigene Zusammenstellung serviert und es war super lecker haben weshalb ich auch gleich an zwei Tagen hintereinander dort war. Die Auswahl ist sehr groß und man fühlt sich schon fast wie in den USA. Bei meinem nächsten Hamburg Urlaub werde ich dort direkt wieder frühstücken 👍

Aufgrund großen Lobes eines Freundes besuchten wir (2Personen) heute “Doris Diner“ zum Mittagessen. Das Lokal war um 14Uhr gut besucht. Sofort bekamen wir einen Tisch angewiesen. Wir wählten à la carte das einzige Steakangebot “Rumpsteak“ - medium-rare -, da andere Steaks (z.B. Huftsteak oder Rib-Eye-Steak) nicht lieferbar waren. Das einzige amerikanische Bier auf der Karte, “Miller“, war auch nicht lieferbar. Ich nahm schwarzen Tee. Der wurde umgehend serviert und war sehr ordentlich. Die Steaks kamen nach kurzer Zeit. Nach mittigem Anschnitt und Druckprobe konnte man einen - medium-well bis welldone - Garzustand feststellen. Der Biß war fest und zäh. Auf Bitte um Nachbesserung wurden klaglos, nach wiederum kurzer Zeit, zwei neue Steaks gebracht, die in meinem Fall einen besseren Garzustand aufwiesen, wenn auch nicht medium-rare so doch wenigstens medium. Die Fleischqualität war leider genauso wie beim ersten Versuch, unangenehm zäh. Mein, mich begleitender, Freund gab nach mehreren Beiß- und Kauversuchen auf und nahm das Fleischstück für sein Haustier mit. Der Service war freundlich und zugewandt. Die Einrichtung wirkte ziemlich old-fashioned und etwas “abgegessen". Ein Espresso am Ende, aufs Haus, war schmackhaft und in Ordnung. Wären Fleisch und die Zubereitung nicht so mangelhaft gewesen, hätte auch der Preis als angemessen gelten können. Insgesamt also etwas enttäuschend. Deshalb glaube ich nicht, dass ich wiederkommen und einen zweiten Versuch machen werde. Zum Tee- und Kaffeetrinken gehe ich doch besser woanders hin.

Ich habe kürzlich versucht, den ‚Doris-Deluxe-Kotz-Burger‘ zu probieren. Und oh Junge, hat er meine Geschmacksnerven buchstäblich überwältigt! Wenn du auf der Suche nach einer einzigartigen Geschmacksexplosion und einem intensiven Magen-Workout bist, dann ist der ‚Doris-Burger‘ genau das Richtige für dich. Es ist wie eine Achterbahnfahrt für deinen Gaumen, nur ohne den Spaß. 😅

Das Ambiente und der Service sind super, jedoch hat das Mittagessen uns leider nicht überzeugt und war zu trocken.

Gutes und deftiges Essen zu einem sensationellen Preis. Und der Service ist so gut und die Mitarbeiter sind so nett! Essen mit Freunden in einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre - was will man mehr! Ich bin begeistert!

Ein tolles Diner. Etwas mehr Gemütlichkeit hätten wir uns gewünscht. Aber das ist ja immer Geschmackssache. Das Essen und die Getränke kamen schnell. Kaffee war heiß das Essen auch. Dazu noch sehr lecker. Der Service war schnell und aufmerksam. Da gehen wir gerne wieder hin.
