Thali- Indisches Essen Restaurant Köln in Köln

I was very disappointed with the Thali Indian restaurant. The food was far too sweet, the meat was poor quality, and some of it was gristly. I ordered spicy, but the dish wasn't spicy at all. Overall, the food was barely edible. I wouldn't recommend anyone eat there.

For me, this is the tastiest Indian restaurant in all of Cologne! Authentic and honest cuisine at very fair prices. A charming little restaurant with great service. An absolute must for any fan of Indian cuisine! 10/10

We were there yesterday with a larger group. We sat outside, which is always nice on Engelbertstrasse. The dishes and the garlic bread with cheese were incredibly delicious, the drink selection was plentiful, and the staff were friendly and personable. We'll definitely be back! 😋

For starters, we had a complimentary delicious papadum with a yogurt and mint dip. For dinner, we all had the Chicken Tikka Masala. The chicken was incredibly well marinated, tender, and delicious. The sauce was superbly seasoned and, upon request, could be made a bit hotter than the standard mild. The service was excellent and very friendly. You can tell that these aren't just random student employees, but that the restaurant is run by a family with heart and soul. From the outside, it looked chic but manageable/simple. You could easily walk right past it by mistake... Luckily, the Indian restaurant was recommended to me!

If you’re looking for authentic Indian flavors, this is probably not the place for you. Most of the dishes were surprisingly sweet and lacked the rich spices and depth typical of Indian cuisine. For example, the tandoori chicken tasted more like it was made with yogurt and ketchup than traditional tandoori spices. That said, if you’re someone who prefers a very light, toned-down version of Indian food — something far from traditional — you might enjoy it. I did enjoy the outdoor seating; the street ambiance was lovely, and that definitely added to the experience.

Delicious Indian food at a fair price in Cologne. It can get crowded inside quickly. I recommend making a reservation outside. The menu selection is extensive. I advise asking the waiter for recommendations. The changing menu is a particular highlight. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, card payments weren't accepted during my visit.

The food is really absolutely delicious, one of the best things I ate on my trip to Cologne. The portions are also big. The food is definitely worth the price. However, we waited almost an hour to get it. It took 20 minutes just for two drinks (beer, cola). When we ordered Naan, we didn't even get it and the server only noticed once we had to pay. If they at least said there was a huge wait or they had issues, we could understand but there wasn't many people and they didn't say anything. Also their card payment stopped working so keep that in mind and bring cash just in case.

Well...the food is actually very good...European variety...nice people...ps: addendum to today...get in touch and bring me my garlic naan, Alta...and...4 pieces of chicken in vindaloo? I'm a bit annoyed for 25 bucks. OK, I read the reply. Exposing me to a lie is really out of line. They themselves said that unfortunately there was no naan and then brought me the flatbread. And...that there were only 4 pieces of chicken in it is true. Period. Maybe we can start again from the beginning...and not be so mean to each other. And yes. It was really very nice of them to bring me the food...so. I apologize if I said something wrong....and ...is there any feedback or not? Everyone who knows me here knows that I'm not lying. And I'm not cheeky. So. I'm waiting. To everyone here in the Veedel: Thali is and remains a great place that everyone should visit for a meal in the neighborhood. Regardless, the boss and I had a few things to sort out. So please: good Indian food...then go to Thali...thanks

I was searching for an Indian restaurant and randomly choosed this one. Went there with a friend. We didn't have enough time to ask about which one was what because the menu was full of a lot of options. We just chose the easiest one that we found a little bit familiar. (As a non-Indian I didn’t know most of the foods.) The food was awesome. It’s a restaurant but the food will give you the taste of homemade taste. It’s a family business. The owners (husband and wife) are most probably the chefs (main instructors) in the kitchen. Service was 10/10. The person (oldest son of the owner most probably) who was on the counter was a really nice person. I love it when every person in the family is involved in running a business. They never disappoint the customer. I was surprised to know that they have been running this restaurant since 1986😦. I can see now why they still exist. It’s their service and food. Going to visit again soon to try chicken items.

For lovers of Indian cuisine, Thali is a land of milk and honey. I've tried many Indian restaurants, but this one tastes best and I've become a regular here. You can order almost all main dishes here, from no heat to very hot. It is the unique seasoning of the dishes that only Thali can do that makes the food here so special. To start with, I recommend the classic Chicken Tikka Masalla, with which you can taste the direct difference from other restaurants. Small, cozy shop, with seating in front of the door, very friendly and courteous owner and very friendly employees.

I went to Thali for the first time today and had the Chicken Tikka Masala. For me it was the best Tikka Masala I have eaten in Cologne after 7 years! The cheese naan was also very tasty. The owners are super friendly and you can sit outside in front of the restaurant!

We were visiting Cologne and ordered from Thali for the first time. I have to say, we have never had such excellent food. The food was super hot when delivered and we were also thrilled with the food. The naan was a hit. Unfortunately, one star deducted for the €35 delivery requirement, but delivery is also made to the opposite side of the Rhine, which is rare these days, so it evens out again. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this. 👍

I didn't like Indian food until my friend dragged me to the Thali and ordered the Butter Chicken. This was 20 years ago and I have tried various Indian dishes since then. The butter chicken at Thali is still my favorite. Maybe it's also because of the warm service from the operators. Both 5 stars ⭐️

Oh it was so sad. I've never (!) had such bad Indian food and I'm seriously wondering how the place gets such good reviews. The pakoras were not individually fried vegetables, but old (?) bone-dry meatballs and almost tasteless. The shahi paneer was even worse, instead of a special sauce with herbs you get a tomato cream sauce like you would get at a bad Italian restaurant, without any special ingredients or herbs. You can eat the rice. You can put your understanding answers somewhere else. I hope stores like this just finally go bankrupt. Please drive to Nippes to Chennai Chef (5/5) or order from govardhan (if you like whole foods) or Saravanaa Bhavan (the only thing to complain about is the rice), but this is ugh ugh ugh! EDIT: Wolt didn't give any money back, not even partially.

Rediscovered after 20 years and worth recommending today as then. I love this little restaurant. The food is really delicious and fresh. The incredibly warm and personal service cannot be topped. You feel like you're at home, even the outdated interior doesn't hurt. We will be back definitely.

Nach 20 Jahren wieder entdeckt und heute wie damals eine Empfehlung wert. Ich liebe dieses kleine Restaurant. Das Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker und frisch. Die unglaublich herzliche und persönliche Bedienung ist nicht zu toppen. Man fühlt sich wie zu Hause, dem kann auch das in die Jahre gekommene Interieur nichts anhaben. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Wir gehen oft und gerne indisch essen. Wir sind uns einig:das ist das beste und authentischste indische Essen in Köln. Wir hatten das Menü aus 3 verschiedenen Spiesen-einmal mit und einmal ohne Fleisch. So lecker und Preis-Leistung super. Die inhabende Familie ist sehr gastfreundlich und sympathisch. Werden sicher jetzt öfter kommen.

Habe rohes Essen ohne Sauce geliefert bekommen. Dieses Essen war eiskalt und roh. Fehler passieren. Die exakte Beschreibung müsste sein, kalter Drehspiess ohne Sauce mit kaltem Reis und Tomaten- Zwiebelsalat.

Ich hab das erste Mal hier bestellt - das Essen ist wirklich lecker. Ich würde definitiv nochmal bestellen! Butterchicken & Tikka Masala waren lecker. Das Raita ist nicht so unser Ding erinnert mich an Tzaziki. Das einzige was mich davon abhält öfter indisch zu bestellen sind die „Hohen Preise“ obwohl es noch teurere Läden gibt.

Ok, dem Restaurant sieht man die Vor-Nutzung als China- und Balkanrestaurant an. Die indischen Geriche sind auf jeden Fall sehr ordentlich und die Preise vernünftig.

Angefangen mit der Bedienung wo wir sehr sympathisch & herzlich aufgenommen worden sind, bis zur Bestellung die reibungslos funktioniert hat und das Essen was sehr lecker geschmeckt hat alles in einem 1 A

Mein Freund verbringt Stunden in diesem Restaurant eine klare Empfehlung!! Entweder liegt es am guten Essen oder an der Tollen Bedienung. Oder vielleicht beides… kann auch gut sein.

Hallo zusammen, ich bin Atheist, aber wenn ich in dieses Chicken reinbeisse, dann glaube ich wieder an Gott. Überragender Service mit immer tollen Sprüchen auf Lager, sehr redegewandt und setzt sein charm bestimmt auch an anderen Lokalen gut zum Einsatz. Gerne wieder. ❤️

Für meinen Geschmack hätte das Mattar Paneer gerne spannender gewürzt und scharf sein dürfen, insbesondere da ich es scharf bestellt hatte. Zudem war das Gericht sehr ölig. Die Erbsen waren schön knackig und der Paneer ebenfalls lecker. Auch das Garlic Naan hat gut geschmeckt. Ich würde hier nochmal bestellen aber ein anderes Gericht probieren. Freundliches Personal sowohl am Telefon als auch bei der Auslieferung.

Die Bestellung hatte eine halbe Stunde Verspätung. Das Butter Paneer Masalla war faktisch halbgare Zwiebeln in undefinierbarem Fett, absolut ungenießbar. Das war wirklich schlecht!

Bestes Butter Chicken, super Mittagstisch

Angenehm schlicht gehaltenes Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem Service. Die Vorspeisen fanden wir insgesamt gut -die Hauptgerichte sehr lecker. Etwas enttäuscht hatten mich das Mango Lassi (sehr süß) und der sehr unscheinbare, sehr trockene Reis - beim nächsten Mal werde ich wohl eher das alternativ angebotene Naan als Beilage ordern.

Seit über 25 Jahren bin ich treuer Anhänger der besten Currys in der Stadt... perfekt in Konsistenz und Geschmack! Tipps: Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Palak und Daal Fried; abends auch mit Roti oder Nan aus dem Tandoori-Ofen!

War zwei mal kurz nacheinander da. Hab mit einem Freund insgesamt 4 verschiedene Gerichte probiert. Alle Gerichte waren überragend. Es hat enorm gut geschmeckt. Nirgends hab ich in Köln besser indisch essen können als hier. Der Service ist super. Der Kellner ist freundlich und sehr angenehm.

Mein Chicken Jalfrezi hatte einen sehr starken chinesischen Einschlag. Indisch war es leider nicht wirklich und auch der Preis war für das, was geboten wurde eher zu hoch. Vielleicht sind die anderen Gerichte aber typischer.

EIN Stück Naan für 3,90€?! Totale Frechheit. Portionen sind ein Witz für den Preis, Malai Kofta sind drei (!!) Bällchen. Das ist einfach unverschämt. Damit jeder von uns ein Stück bekommen hätte, hätten wir für 16€ Naan bestellen müssen. Zur Inhaberantwort: es stimmt auch nicht, dass man sowohl Reis als auch Naan auswählen kann. Reis war dabei, Naan kostet 3,90€ - und der Knoblauch oben drauf rechtfertigt auch nicht, dass ein bisschen Mehl mit Wasser 3,90€ kostet.

Das Essen war lecka und es wurde auf unser Wunsch eingegangen das wir eine Mahlzeit für 2 Personen auch zu dritt verzehren dürfen. Dee Service ist Klasse. Es fühlt sich klein und Familiär an was eine nette Abwechslung ist und man fühlt sich gleich befreundet. Der Laden gibt nicht die schönste Atmosphäre, aber das Essen lässt ein das vergessen

Essen war absolut superrrr habs geliebt. Der Service,Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und total freundlich, hätte beinahe meine Nummer zurückgelassen👌🏾 Das Restaurant bietet eine gemütliche Atmosphäre, man fühlt sich direkt wohl, großer Wiederholungsbedarf !!! Im allgemeinen sehr zu empfehlen👍

Essen hat unnormal geschmeckt, und hat auch satt gemacht . Der Preis passt sehr gut da es wie schon gesagt voll gemacht hat und auch geschmeckt hat . Bedienung war auch sehr nett und höflich. Nur zu empfehlen!!

Wir waren zu Mittag bei "Thali" und haben ein hervorragendes Vindaloo und Butter Chicken serviert bekommen. Der (ich nehme an) Inhaber war sehr freundlich und gesprächig, das Essen absolut preiswert. Wir kommen sicher wieder :-)

Wir waren mit der Familie in Köln und waren auf der Suche nach einem Inder . Zum Glück haben wir uns für das Thali entschieden. Das Essen sowie der Service waren top . Das war aufjedenfall nicht unser letzter Besuch !

Ich habe schon bei vielen verschiedenen indischen Restaurants gegessen, aber das Thali Restaurant ist eine ganz andere Nummer. Service top, Geschmack mehr als top und die Preise absolut fair! Wirklich super, gäbe es 10 Sterne würde ich am liebsten 11 geben. Mein Lieblingsrestaurant 🤩

Kleines Restaurant mit gutem Essen und sehr freundlicher, kommunikativer Bedienung (Häufige, aber auf keinen Fall aufdringliche Nachfragen; Am Nachbartisch wurde mitgeteilt, dass das Hauptgericht etwas später kommt, da der erste Versuch etwas misslungen sei) Zum Abschluss gab es sogar einen leckeren Kichererbsen "Brownie" als Dessert aufs Haus. Das Ambiente könnte noch ein bisschen stimmiger sein, aber ein Besuch lohnt sich trotz allem auf jeden Fall!

Das Lokal ist klein aber dennoch gemütlich. Das Mobiliar ist zwar etwas durch, aber das super leckere Essen und der freundliche Service lassen das schnell vergessen. Das Essen ist würzig und super lecker. Der beste Inder in Köln, mit Abstand.

EDIT: Nachdem ich wie gewünscht angerufen habe, hat das Restaurant eine Rückerstattung oder einen Ersatz der Bestellung abgelehnt. Das sind keine ehrlichen Leute. Ich würde es gar nicht empfehlen. Die Bestellung kam 2 Stunden später, kalt und verschüttet und es waren nicht die richtigen Gerichte. Am Telefon war die Person überhaupt nicht freundlich. Ich werde nicht mehr zurück kommen.
