The Sanifair toilet was dirty and unkempt, something I've never seen before from Sanifair! The coffee in the run-down, dingy restaurant was lukewarm at best, the only thing that was great was the price

The toilets weren't clean. The smell almost took your breath away. I'm happy to pay €1 to use the toilet if it's clean, but not if it smells like urine. Today September 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Unfortunately I have to give one star for this mill stop, otherwise you can't write your anger about such a situation. It was the most disgusting rest stop I've seen in the last 20 years. Stinky dirty toilet facilities and they charge €1 for that. You should stop by the hygiene office send them to close this mess🤮🤮

Disaster, landed at 2am and we felt so uncomfortable. Never again, I can't write the reason why.

In short: I had never experienced anything like this before. Completely overcrowded parking lot, lots of people, toilet line all the way outside, pungent smell and overpriced restaurant. You're happy to finally be back in Germany...

Actually, I'm not the type of person who writes reviews, but the gentleman at the checkout in the restaurant at this rest stop almost pissed me off today and made me do this. The man at the checkout was extremely unfriendly and became loud and aggressive when I expressed my opinion about prices and the redemption of Sanifair vouchers. Completely inflated prices. I would have liked to give zero stars, but unfortunately that's not possible.

Old and run-down rest area. There is trash everywhere in the parking lot. The toilets were partially broken, the toilet paper holder was torn out of the wall. The gastronomy is not up to date. Espresso for 3.39!!! The employee at the checkout hardly speaks any German and is unfriendly. The young colleague no longer has any teeth in her mouth. Welcome to Germany at the first rest stop after the border.

Sie wollten sich schon immer einmal einen Reisetag verderben? Dann sind die Raststätten "Donautal Ost" und "Donautal West" genau richtig für Sie. Es erwarten Sie dort nicht nur komplett vermüllte Parkareale und peinlich ungepflegte Toiletten, sondern auch das wohl unfreundlichste Servicepersonal, das Ihnen jemals untergekommen ist. Mit etwas Glück dürfen Sie sich sogar von einem Tankwart nach allen Regeln der Kunst rundmachen lassen, weil Sie z. B. nicht auf Anhieb wissen, welche Maut man für den Karawankentunnel benötigt. Und ganz nebenbei können Sie auch noch problemlos Ihren Tagesbedarf an "Muntermachern" decken. Es dürfte Ihnen oder Ihren Kindern ein Leichtes sein, rund um die Parkplätze achtlos weggeworfene kleine Tütchen mit seltsamen Inhalten zu finden, weiße Pülverchen, diverse Kräutlein oder hübsche bunte Pillen. Was wollen Sie mehr? Ach, Sie halten das alles für übertrieben? Dann probieren Sie es doch einfach aus, nur Mut! Sollten Sie hingegen zu den langweiligen Zeitgenossen gehören, die Fahrtpausen gerne zu Erholung und Muße nutzen und auf gepflegte Umgangsformen Wert legen: Die nächsten Rastanlagen sind (in beiden Richtungen) gar nicht so weit entfernt.

Very dirty and unfriendly staff

A subterranean, poor rest stop, filled with rubbish to the point where it's no longer possible. When I visited on September 2nd, 2024, the Sanifair urinals were all defective and covered with garbage bags. There was no employee anywhere to be seen who cared. The toilets were also extremely dirty. Soap and towel dispensers were broken or empty. What should you pay €1 for? There doesn't seem to be any employee responsible for the extremely littered outdoor area either. It looked like a garbage dump, only less sorted. It's an absolute shame that we offer such a picture to guests traveling through our country. The operator should be ashamed of himself! During subsequent stops at other rest stops, I saw a similar picture. Rest stops on our highways are becoming more and more of a disaster. Broken, dirty, no quality of stay, no service and totally overpriced! It's better to leave the motorway and find a nice, clean and inexpensive inn a little away. You'll definitely find an inexpensive gas station this way!

Sunday, September 1st, 2024 The Donautal service area is a complete garbage dump. How you can make money here with a non-existent service is unbelievable to me. The entire facility, including the toilets, is in a dilapidated condition and dirty. Unfortunately, I cannot judge whether the service staff is overwhelmed or not available. The employees on site tried to create some order, but apparently the chaos arose over time and was no longer manageable. If you can at all, avoid the rest stop - it's worth it!!

I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. All toilets broken and a garbage dump outside. 👎🏼

Rest area closed. You can only buy something in the gas station, but at exorbitant prices. e.g Bag of potato chips EUR 4.99.. Dirty and disgusting toilets, cleaning lady on site but not active..

Absolut letztklassig und dreckig. Tankstellen- bzw. Kassenpersonal total unfreundlich. Ein Teil des Restaurants geschlossen, der andere vollkommen versifft. Das Essen trieft vor Fett, einfach ungenießbar. Am Zapfhahn gibt es nur widrig süße Getränke, kein Wasser. Eigentlich sollte man vor der Abfahrt ein Warnschild aufstellen.

On August 30th, 2024 around 8:00 a.m. we drove to the rest stop. The outside area was unkempt and dirty. A traffic jam in the entrance to the toilet caused by a defective payment machine. The men's toilets were only moderately maintained. The paper towel containers were overflowing. My wife's description of the ladies' room exceeded my worst fears. Everything dirty, urine on the floor. The usage fees are an outrage. You should receive compensation. Not recommended.

August 28, 2024 - 1:20 p.m Rest area closed, although according to the internet it should be open 24/7. The visual condition of the facility resembles a garbage dump. Sanifair toilet system is bottom drawer. Most of the cisterns are out of order, dirty is putting it mildly and you pay one euro for that. Pure disgust. We refrained from trying to buy something to eat or drink at the adjacent gas station. You have to be afraid of getting something...

Disgusting. Everything full of rubbish. Most of the toilets are broken and the rest that work are dirty. Soap empty. The rest area is closed and the mountains of rubbish are piling up in front of it. Only the toilet, for which you have to pay €1, was open. Actually you should be paid the euro to go there, although it would still be far too little. And something like that in Germany...

We were there yesterday. It's the worst rest stop I've ever been to. Dirty, germy, etc. Absolutely not recommended, keep driving and don't stop.

In my opinion the rest area is too expensive. Pricing is inflationary. Anyone who pays the price of 17.89 euros for a schnitzel with a roll has only themselves to blame. The schnitzels are from wholesalers and the rolls too. The soda at the motorway gas station is too expensive and so are the offerings on the menu here. So keep driving...

Zurückkehrend von einer Wochenendtagung in der Steiermark, wollte ich an der ersten deutschen Raststätte eine kurze Pause einlegen: das Restaurant geschlossen, an der Toilette eine ewige Schlange, der Verkaufsraum der Tankstelle überfüllt. Müll überall.

No cleaners to be seen. Very dirty and smelly place. Not the best for kids and pets.

The worst rest stop I have ever visited. Charred chicken wings, the staff doesn't understand my language and I don't understand theirs. Complaints are ignored and the Sanifair receipts are scanned. The ADAC bonus posted outside is also ignored without any response - not even a shake of the head. If I hadn't been so hungry, I would have left everything behind Under what circumstances do employees live that they have to accept such a job!

I was there today (8/12/24) to get gas. Conclusion: There were no gas pumps at any gas pump. No towels. No bucket of water to clean the window. No POURING WATER. Facility very dirty and run down.

I was at this rest stop on 8/8/24 around 9:00 p.m. I am aware that a restaurant that is open 24/7 must have different (= higher) prices, but what I experienced here was unacceptable. The staff was cleaning the kitchen and I was perceived as a disruption. When I asked if I would get something, I was actually served. The food came in disposable packaging and not on a plate. Disposable packaging is an absurdity when you eat in a restaurant - disposable packaging is only for to-go. None of the tables were cleaned by the staff - there was enough staff there who were chatting to themselves. The benches are all broken - and not just since yesterday. The condition of this rest stop is simply shameful: there is an urgent need for action.

My parents and I chose this rest stop on the way home from Croatia because, according to Google maps, the restaurant is open all day and has a charging station. Arrive here and find that the restaurant is closed, but according to maps it is open. I understand that even a restaurant like this can be closed at times, for whatever reason, but then it should be clear in advance

Unfriendly staff at the Aral gas station, both tire pressure inflators were defective, the staff didn't care.

Incredibly unclean. It would be enough to sweep with a broom. The menu is also very clear. In summary: if you have the opportunity to continue driving then you should avoid this rest stop.

Women's toilet (paid 1€ for cleanliness): toilet seat smeared, the toilet in another cubicle is clogged, water is up to the top of the bowl. Nobody cares, staff lock themselves in the staff cabin. Hygiene is also unacceptable in the restaurant: cobwebs everywhere, dead flies en masse on the window sills directly behind the benches, tables dirty, curtains dirty and not fastened properly, window panes very dirty! The only plus point: the e-charging stations work perfectly. There is a star for this. Everything else is an imposition!!

Employees were friendly but that was it. Poor food, broken benches everywhere, but many people don't understand trash. There are plenty of trash cans.

If you want to see the dirtiest rest stop in all of Germany, stop here. On July 27th, 2024 we took a break here surrounded by mountains of garbage from cans, bottles, paper and residual waste, food leftovers right at the entrance to the rest stop, in the entire parking lot and in the rest stop. The persona, 4 people, with 100 percent micration background, was standing around behind the counter. When I pointed out the mountains of rubbish and overfilled bins, I was of course told that they were not responsible for that. What happened to beautiful Bavaria? You should definitely not stop at this rest stop because of the dirt.

Poorly maintained toilets for €1, you can only redeem one voucher per purchase and really outrageous prices, even for a motorway rest stop.

I don't normally write reviews but this station shoots the bird. Incredibly rancid, stinky, sh... costs 1€ (!) and the espresso costs a whopping €3.39, you've never seen anything like it...

Just used the toilet. They were clean, nothing to complain about.

This rest stop is an absolute scandal. Going to the toilet costs €1 and there is only enough toilet paper in a single cubicle. There is no trace of cleaning and hygiene. €5.50 for a monster is also cheeky. So you can't and shouldn't support such cutthroats

Fairly clean, we stopped for Nord see, they didn't have anything at 6pm.

On the way home from Austria we stopped at the rest stop. UNFORTUNATELY. Of the 2 existing coffee machines, only one was in operation and it only had two coffees to choose from. We had 2 cups of coffee for a whopping €7.98. I have to say, I've never drunk such expensive "water" before. The food on offer was also unappealing and totally overpriced. It's really not worth stopping here.

Toilet at €1 is overpriced. Likewise, a cappuccino with cheesecake for just under €10. There was no fish and there were no cheaper dishes around €10. Fries were rather soft and I didn't find the food good. All self-service. I wouldn't recommend.

Very nice man served. I ordered a roll with meatballs, one with bratwurst and one with meat loaf. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I had prepared it that I saw that each roll with toppings cost almost €9. This is outrageously expensive. North Sea was closed.

WC for women: a door cannot be locked, the smell of urine is acrid. 3:30 p.m. on a normal Thursday - Nordsee Restaurant closed, no one there. Outdoor area completely neglected. Several seats in the restaurant demolished, seat covers destroyed - no one cares, see photo. Small schnitzel with fries 16.99 euros. Person tank & rest - are you serious?

A bratwurst roll for €9, are you still clear in your head? Something bordering on fraud and usury. Sorry, not borderline but that is cheating in my opinion.
