Taj Mahal in Frankfurt am Main

We visited for the second time and again found it very good. The servers were very friendly and the food was excellent. Definitely order the cheese naan.

The restaurant is modern and elegantly decorated. It's certainly pleasant to eat in, but I ordered for pickup through Wolt. The food is quite expensive, so my expectations were high. The quality is good, as are the portion sizes. The Shahi Paneer is good, but I've had better for less money. If I had the chance, I'd probably eat in again.

Good service and a pleasant ambiance (compared to many other Indian restaurants). That said, the food which was the reason we went, wasn't anything to write home about and rather expensive for what it was. Unfortunately, the onion bhaji resemble onion rings and whilst the tandoori was good, the rest of the food left quite a lot of my taste buds unactivated. This is not what Indian food is supposed to be and anyone that claims this is good (or better) Indian food must have very different taste or never had a good Indian meal before. Despite the good service, I can't say that I would recommend this place. But perhaps I am also spoiled from having had access to very good Indian food in places where I have lived.

The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. I had the Vegetable Korma. Unfortunately, it tasted of almost nothing; they certainly could have done a better job. Considering the price, which is higher than other Indian restaurants, it was a disappointment.

Beautiful experience! Really great food, we tried many dishes including chicken tandoori, lamb tandoori and chicken butter, best dishes ever tasted. Generous and tasty portions! They were very kind, it was our birthday and they surprised us with ice cream and candles! Thank you, we will definitely come back when we pass through Frankfurt!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants! As soon as you enter this restaurant, you will be greeted by pleasant smells. The furnishings are elegant and modern. The service is very accommodating - on some days your coats are even taken away and taken to the cloakroom. Most of the waiters speak in English. There is a great selection of starters, main courses and desserts. The mango lassi has never disappointed me. The garlic naan is nice and fluffy. I like eating chicken here because the quality of the meat is great. Chicken Tikka or Butter Chicken are my favorites, but we have tried other versions too. You can always order more rice if necessary. The dishes are expensive, but every euro is worth it.

So if you want to eat really good and authentic Indian food...then you should give this restaurant a wide berth. Okay, the look of the guest room is very appealing (personal taste), there is no shortage of staff (even if they either rush through the guest area with tunnel vision and overlook the guests or, on the other hand, want to clear away half-full plates), but that's where the positive aspects end. Let's get to food. I have never (!!!) been served such bad, yet extremely overpriced Indian food. And I know what it tastes like, having had the pleasure of enjoying it in some Indian cuisine hotspots. Nothing fits here: no matter what we ordered: neither seasoning nor spiciness, small portions, presented carelessly and then expensive. I have no idea who's in the kitchen, but it definitely can't be Indians. Any food truck is a better choice. Once and never again.

Hello everyone, I've eaten at the Taj Mahal several times and am thrilled every time. I love the location and the ambience – both are just right. The food is super tasty and always freshly prepared. The service also leaves nothing to be desired: always friendly and attentive. I always enjoy coming back!

So by far the best Indian cuisine in Frankfurt for my taste. Seldom eaten such tender chicken and lamb. The sauces and the bread are simply fascinating. At the same time a great ambience and great service. If you wish, you can even order Halal here.

We had lamb vindaloo, which was very tasty and tender. Butter chicken was okay, but it was very sweet. The service wasn't particularly attentive. They forgot part of our order twice.

This was my second time there. The service is very friendly, tried hard, sometimes professional, sometimes not (still practicing) Unfortunately the food is hardly seasoned. There are no spices at all, the mint sauce hardly tastes like mint, the same with the mango chutney, and there are no spices to taste in the other dishes such as cardamom, ginger, cumin, garlic, chili... we also missed any Indian inspiration in the desserts. SHAME. I had promised myself more.

Food didn't convince me, too sweet for Indian cuisine and not spiced enough. Otherwise relatively nice.

I used to be very impressed with this restaurant but I have to say that unfortunately it has declined significantly. The food doesn't taste as tasty anymore and the service messed up half the order. The cleanliness here also leaves a lot to be desired. I probably won't come back for a while.

As main courses we had Chicken Tikka Masala (€20.50) and Bhindi (Okra, €17). Plus butter naan (4€) and raita (6€ (!)). Unfortunately, both main courses were tasteless and have nothing in common with the actually sophisticated Indian cuisine. Everything tasted very Germanized and really bland. After all: Raita and Naan were good. Service and ambience are quite nice, prices are ridiculously exorbitant. There really are much better Indian restaurants in Frankfurt. You can ignore this without missing anything.

Food and ambience great, service really bad. While serving, the waiter broke my glass of wine. Result: Two full glasses of wine and water at the table had to be cleared away and replaced. The bill included both the bottle of wine and the bottle of water. Despite a complaint, no apology and no compensation. Apparently they are too arrogant to care about customers. I've been there twice now. The first and the last time!

Absolute risk of repetition! My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and we were totally spoiled. We had the mixed vegetarian starter plate, the chicken ginger soup and as main courses cheese naan, garlic naan, butter chicken and tandoori salmon 🤤 The service was super nice and very attentive. Top Indian in a prominent location. Good selection of dishes at fair, albeit high, prices. Even beginners to India will find what they are looking for here. Picked up food for 4 people, portions are not small. Everything was very tasty

The “Taj Mahal” offers an inviting and cozy ambience with warm colors and atmospheric lighting. The interior is tastefully decorated. The tables are generously spaced, allowing for pleasant privacy. A plus point: the gentle background music that perfectly accompanies the meal. The menu offered an authentic selection of Indian classics, such as biryani and similar. The prices are in the upper mid-range, but completely justified given the quality of the food and service. The portions were also generous. The “Taj Mahal” is a real gem for lovers of Indian cuisine. It impressively combines high-quality food, a beautiful ambience and excellent service. I can definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to spend an authentic and enjoyable evening.

After we had internalized the almost entirely positive reviews, we wanted to find out personally. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We expected a corresponding meal in a beautiful atmosphere. That wasn't the case. Carelessly prepared, blandly seasoned, which is completely unusual in Indian cuisine. The chicken korma was tasteless. A yellowish, tasteless sauce with some tough chicken pieces. It seemed as if a few remaining pieces of meat had been hot with sauce because there was nothing else on hand. A big disappointment with completely inflated prices. Not for us again please.

The Taj Mahal is a very nice restaurant on Schweizer Straße in Frankfurt that I visited on Christmas Eve. Friendly, courteous service, delicious food and drinks and a very attractive ambience characterize this restaurant.

Reserved for 4 people at 5pm. Arrived at 5:01 p.m. and first waited for the menu, then waited for drinks, then waited to order food. Overall, MUCH WAITED. At 6:20 p.m., we have just finished eating, we are told the next table is waiting and we should then get up. Why should I get up 40 minutes early if I have a reservation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Very rude, service subpar and food just average.

Viel zu große vorbereitete trockene Lammwürfel, nicht in der Soße gegart, sondern nur in einer solchen,viel zu fetten, erwärmt.Das Fleisch schmeckte nach nichts. Es fehlte außerdem auch in der Soße die übliche intensive indische Würzigkeit. Das Geflügel Curry war nicht besser. Der Service war nicht sehr aufmerksam.

The atmosphere is fantastic, I have been twice in Frankfurt and both of time, I have had dinner here, the grilled chicken and fish is really a piece of art. Awesome customer service and in time order delivery is quite impressive. Authentic Pakistani and Indian taste . A must try place for sure 👍

The service was exceptional – attentive, friendly and incredibly accommodating. The entire staff made sure that we felt completely comfortable. Small important details, such as the fact that each plate was only touched with a clean cloth, are not visible everywhere. The dishes were fresh, aromatic and served promptly. All in all it was a perfect evening with service that went above and beyond the usual.

There were three of us and we are all very satisfied. The food was delicious, the service was a 10/10, extremely hygienic. I would always love to go there again. Price performance was very good, we had chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, mixed vegetables, garlic naan, rice was free with unlimited refills, plus 3 drinks and a large water bottle for a total of €77. Very creamy butter chicken, the cheese naan was very, very good and chicken jhalfrezi is also worth recommending. Value for money for 2 people is also very good.

If you are looking for authentic, flavorful Indian food, this is not the place for you. The food was highly “localized” and bland compared to other Indian restaurants. The restaurant itself is very stylish and offers a good selection of drinks, but the service from my waiter was mediocre.

The food was a 10/10. The meat was very tender and tasted very tasty. The service was top and the staff was very friendly and commendable. Location was very nicely decorated and everything looked very hygienic. I can only recommend the restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the tandoori chicken, as well as the Indian tea at the end.

This place has been in this place for many decades and after the renovation it has a very nice atmosphere. Reservations are required in the evening because the restaurant is so popular. Food is well portioned and tasty - by no means too oily or greasy and the spiciness can be adjusted if desired. I've eaten there many times and I like the small price increase compared to... worth it to other Indians in Frankfurt.

The food was really very good and the ambience was fine. At the beginning, the service staff were there in a reasonable time and took the order. Unfortunately, after the food came, no more questions were asked about new drinks. Even after the empty plates were cleared away, we sat at the table for over an hour without any waitress making any effort. We also had to call someone to pay and then had the bill placed on the table within seconds. As I said, the kitchen was very tasty, but unfortunately the service was no longer a placeholder in the room.

My first experience with Indian food in an Indian restaurant! We had a lovely evening, with attentive and consistently friendly service from our waiter - a genuinely kind person. The Chicken Tandoori arrived sizzling hot, with a balanced, intense spiciness. The accompanying mint sauce was subtle, and the rice, likely enriched with butter or oil, added a pleasant flavor. The recommended Palak Paneer was excellent: creamy cottage cheese paired with spinach and onions, enhanced by seasonal herbs for a satisfying dish. The Garlic Naan was crispy yet soft, with a garlic flavor that perfectly complemented the spices. Another great recommendation was the Mango Dream. Though we were already full, we shared this dessert, which made for a perfect ending. The vanilla ice cream had a wonderful, natural flavor, and the mango purée was intensely fruity and refreshing. The drinks paired well: the Mango Lassi was cool and not overly sweet, and the cold beer balanced the rich flavors of the main dishes beautifully. The restaurant atmosphere is cozy, modern and inviting - a place we’d gladly return to.

So far we haven't tried a dish that we didn't like. Whether on site or to take away, the quality of the food is impeccable! Portions are more than adequate in size.

The food was very tasty, the meat was nice and tender, we ordered chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and the samosa/pakora plate as starters. Everything great! And what we found best was the service. Very attentive, there for you very quickly. So we felt very comfortable and welcome. A little more expensive than other Indian restaurants, but also fancier. Despite this, everyone is welcome as long as you are hungry ☺️

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal, an Indian restaurant located in Frankfurt. The service was exceptional for sure. I am not a fan of Indian cuisine, because I have some problems with spiced (seasoned) food, but the waiter was great and had recomand a good solution for it (please, don't ask me why I've chosen Indian restaurant, if I don't eat their food, it was a misunderstanding between me and my colleagues). The waiter recommended me a salad and a fish cooked on gril, it was not bad, as I expected, but fish was too dry for me. If you have no problem with spiced food, I recommend this place, because of great service and a cozy atmosphere!
