The ambience was good, and the service was friendly. I had high expectations for the restaurant because it looks good from the outside and it is always busy. (I have mostly seen non-Indians eating there.) Everything we ate: - Veg Pakora – 2/5 (Portion size: Good) It was oily. - Paneer Butter Masala – 2/5 (Portion size: Small) The waiter asked if we wanted it spicy; we said medium spicy. But the dish ended up being sweet. I have never had a sweet paneer butter masala before. The paneer itself was good. - Palak Paneer – 2/5 (Portion size: Small) The spinach was chewy and a bit undercooked for our liking. The paneer was prepared in a bhurji style, and it was okay. - Garlic Naan – 5/5 (Portion size: Good) It was delicious and exactly what we expected. - Mango Lassi – 3.5/5 (Portion size: Small) It was good but a little too sweet. We ordered only vegetarian food. The menu had only a few vegetarian options. We don’t know how the non-vegetarian options taste, though there was a variety of them. To be honest, the price was on the expensive side. Verdict: It is an Indian restaurant for non-Indians. (Review based only on vegetarian food.)

Since I wanted to order tikka masala like my friend, the (very friendly) waiter persuaded me to order butter chicken instead. The side dishes were great, but the butter chicken was unfortunately much too sweet. When I tried the tikka masala, I was jealous and disappointed. Nevertheless, the meal was great, and at least I was full.

Very good restaurant with delicious food, especially the butter chicken garlic naan and raita. A bit pricey, but absolutely fine for the price + friendly service. Highly recommended! 😀

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here with the best wife of all and our daughters, as we love Indian food. The food was truly excellent. Just one example: the daughter's onion bhajis. Usually, the onions are overcooked, tasty but overcooked. Hers had a bite, not very firm, just enough so you could still feel the onion ring. Of course, our plates looked immaculate after every course. A small deduction for the music. If it weren't a three-hour drive, I'd be a regular, even if the bill was more than a handful of yen.

For me, the Taj Mahal Frankfurt is by far the most wonderful and beautiful Indian restaurant I know. The food is delicious, the service stylish and understated, and the ambiance simply beautiful (the ceiling lamp is a real eye-catcher). I come here with my family, friends, and business associates and always feel warmly welcomed. The food is absolutely delicious. I've even shared it in various LinkedIn posts because I just love it here. Oh yes, my favorites: Butter Chicken, Mango Chicken, the various vegetable dishes, and not forgetting Butter Nan. :-) PS: The location in Sachsenhausen, not far from the banks of the Main River, is also very nice for a stroll before or after.

The Taj Mahal in Sachsenhausen on Schweizer Straße is a true culinary highlight for all lovers of Indian cuisine – and a place you absolutely must experience when visiting Frankfurt. The warm, inviting atmosphere immediately greets you upon entering the restaurant. The decor is tasteful, authentically Indian, yet modern – you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. The service is extremely attentive, friendly, and competent – questions about the dishes are answered gladly and in detail, making the decision much easier given the wide selection. The butter chicken was an absolute highlight: The meat was exceptionally tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The sauce – rich, buttery, slightly sweet, and full of spices – was a dream and a prime example of this classic North Indian specialty. It was served with fluffy basmati rice, which perfectly absorbed the flavors, and fresh naan bread, which was wonderfully soft and slightly crispy – ideal for soaking up the delicious sauce. The appetizer platter was also excellently composed: a selection of various small delicacies, including samosas and pakoras – all freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. Particularly noteworthy was the raita, a refreshing yogurt dip with cucumber and spices, which perfectly balanced the intense flavors of the appetizers. The rogan josh was also a real treat: a robust, aromatic lamb dish with a deep, spicy sauce. The meat was buttery soft and harmonized beautifully with the combination of cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. Here, too, the high art of Indian spice cooking was evident without it seeming over-seasoned. Never forget to order the mango lassi. Perfect and creamy. Overall, the Taj Mahal impresses with true craftsmanship, quality in every component, and great attention to detail. The portions are generous, and the prices are absolutely reasonable for what is offered. If you are looking for authentic Indian food of the highest quality, this is the place for you. I will definitely be back – and I’m really looking forward to it!

So, I recently ate there based on a recommendation, but I was unfortunately very disappointed. I felt nauseous after eating, and when I got home, I had to go straight to the bathroom 🧻 and, judging by the reviews here, I wasn't the only one! So, I'm definitely not eating there anymore! There are some really good Indian restaurants, but something like this has never happened to me. P.S. I'm used to spicy food, so it's definitely an intolerance or something!

I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants, but this was by far the worst. The mango lassi was as runny as water; when I asked, the staff told me to use milk instead of yogurt. All the sauces were so runny and watery, whether it was butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. I'm so disappointed 😢

WORST INDIAN RESTAURANT. Don’t waste your money here. Never go. The food is absolutely tasteless. Despite being an Indian named restaurant, there is no Indian taste at all and no hospitality. The Waitress Sofia is very rude and has no courtesy.

We came here with high expectations and we were very disappointed. We ordered Onion Bhaji as appetizer but the batter was not crispy at all, and the onions were almost raw. The garlic naan was ok but nothing special. The samosa with vegetables was just one samosa so a bit expensive 9€ for one samosa and a couple of fried vegetables. The butter chicken that everyone talks about was super sweet so totally out of flavour. So in the end the best thing was the mango lassi. The price is over the roof for a totally standard Indian food.

Unfortunately, this food is not to be recommended at all. We were a large group and ordered a lot of dishes. Among them was a tandoori mix platter. When the food arrived, I was shocked. The mix platter cost €30 and there were only five pieces of meat on it. The taste was below average (just like the rest of the food) and it didn't taste like it came from the tandoor. The paneer nan was rubbery and was filled with some kind of cream or sour cream instead of cheese. The chicken tikka masalla and butter chicken had nothing to do with authentic Indian food. They might be good for a German palate, but India fans who know their stuff will know that it is not authentic. Overall, the food was far too overpriced, below average and inauthentic. We won't be coming back.

The restaurant is modern and elegantly decorated. It's certainly pleasant to eat in, but I ordered for pickup through Wolt. The food is quite expensive, so my expectations were high. The quality is good, as are the portion sizes. The Shahi Paneer is good, but I've had better for less money. If I had the chance, I'd probably eat in again.

Good service and a pleasant ambiance (compared to many other Indian restaurants). That said, the food which was the reason we went, wasn't anything to write home about and rather expensive for what it was. Unfortunately, the onion bhaji resemble onion rings and whilst the tandoori was good, the rest of the food left quite a lot of my taste buds unactivated. This is not what Indian food is supposed to be and anyone that claims this is good (or better) Indian food must have very different taste or never had a good Indian meal before. Despite the good service, I can't say that I would recommend this place. But perhaps I am also spoiled from having had access to very good Indian food in places where I have lived.

The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. I had the Vegetable Korma. Unfortunately, it tasted of almost nothing; they certainly could have done a better job. Considering the price, which is higher than other Indian restaurants, it was a disappointment.

Beautiful experience! Really great food, we tried many dishes including chicken tandoori, lamb tandoori and chicken butter, best dishes ever tasted. Generous and tasty portions! One of my absolute favorite restaurants! As soon as you enter this restaurant, you will be greeted by pleasant smells. The furnishings are elegant and modern. The service is very accommodating - on some days your coats are even taken away and taken to the cloakroom. Most of the waiters speak in English. There is a great selection of starters, main courses and desserts. The mango lassi has never disappointed me. The garlic naan is nice and fluffy. I like eating chicken here because the quality of the meat is great. Chicken Tikka or Butter Chicken are my favorites, but we have tried other versions too. You can always order more rice if necessary. The dishes are expensive, but every euro is worth it.

So if you want to eat really good and authentic Indian food...then you should give this restaurant a wide berth. Okay, the look of the guest room is very appealing (personal taste), there is no shortage of staff (even if they either rush through the guest area with tunnel vision and overlook the guests or, on the other hand, want to clear away half-full plates), but that's where the positive aspects end. Let's get to food. I have never (!!!) been served such bad, yet extremely overpriced Indian food. And I know what it tastes like, having had the pleasure of enjoying it in some Indian cuisine hotspots. Nothing fits here: no matter what we ordered: neither seasoning nor spiciness, small portions, presented carelessly and then expensive. I have no idea who's in the kitchen, but it definitely can't be Indians. Any food truck is a better choice. Once and never again.

So by far the best Indian cuisine in Frankfurt for my taste. Seldom eaten such tender chicken and lamb. The sauces and the bread are simply fascinating. At the same time a great ambience and great service. If you wish, you can even order Halal here.

This was my second time there. The service is very friendly, tried hard, sometimes professional, sometimes not (still practicing) Unfortunately the food is hardly seasoned. There are no spices at all, the mint sauce hardly tastes like mint, the same with the mango chutney, and there are no spices to taste in the other dishes such as cardamom, ginger, cumin, garlic, chili... we also missed any Indian inspiration in the desserts. SHAME. I had promised myself more.

I used to be very impressed with this restaurant but I have to say that unfortunately it has declined significantly. The food doesn't taste as tasty anymore and the service messed up half the order. The cleanliness here also leaves a lot to be desired. I probably won't come back for a while.

As main courses we had Chicken Tikka Masala (€20.50) and Bhindi (Okra, €17). Plus butter naan (4€) and raita (6€ (!)). Unfortunately, both main courses were tasteless and have nothing in common with the actually sophisticated Indian cuisine. Everything tasted very Germanized and really bland. After all: Raita and Naan were good. Service and ambience are quite nice, prices are ridiculously exorbitant. There really are much better Indian restaurants in Frankfurt. You can ignore this without missing anything.

Food and ambience great, service really bad. While serving, the waiter broke my glass of wine. Result: Two full glasses of wine and water at the table had to be cleared away and replaced. The bill included both the bottle of wine and the bottle of water. Despite a complaint, no apology and no compensation. Apparently they are too arrogant to care about customers. I've been there twice now. The first and the last time!

Tandoori chicken, chicken chili, butter naan and mixed platter. Everything was amazing. The best meal we had while in Frankfurt. From Houston, TX we have AMAZING food. This place is great!

After we had internalized the almost entirely positive reviews, we wanted to find out personally. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We expected a corresponding meal in a beautiful atmosphere. That wasn't the case. Carelessly prepared, blandly seasoned, which is completely unusual in Indian cuisine. The chicken korma was tasteless. A yellowish, tasteless sauce with some tough chicken pieces. It seemed as if a few remaining pieces of meat had been hot with sauce because there was nothing else on hand. A big disappointment with completely inflated prices. Not for us again please.

Reserved for 4 people at 5pm. Arrived at 5:01 p.m. and first waited for the menu, then waited for drinks, then waited to order food. Overall, MUCH WAITED. At 6:20 p.m., we have just finished eating, we are told the next table is waiting and we should then get up. Why should I get up 40 minutes early if I have a reservation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Very rude, service subpar and food just average.

Viel zu große vorbereitete trockene Lammwürfel, nicht in der Soße gegart, sondern nur in einer solchen,viel zu fetten, erwärmt.Das Fleisch schmeckte nach nichts. Es fehlte außerdem auch in der Soße die übliche intensive indische Würzigkeit. Das Geflügel Curry war nicht besser. Der Service war nicht sehr aufmerksam.

There were three of us and we are all very satisfied. The food was delicious, the service was a 10/10, extremely hygienic. I would always love to go there again. Price performance was very good, we had chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, mixed vegetables, garlic naan, rice was free with unlimited refills, plus 3 drinks and a large water bottle for a total of €77.
