Bombay Palace in Frankfurt am Main

Friendly owner with a good sense of humor. Generous portions, but the standard spiciness is high, even in mild dishes and despite our explicit request for "very mild." The naan, at almost €5, is not worth the effort. Overall, 4 stars for a solid, higher-priced Indian restaurant, whose incredibly high ratings we find hard to understand.

I often visit the Bombay Palace with a good friend. So far, our experiences have always been excellent. We consistently enjoy the food, as well as the red wine. Therefore, we will be there again tonight to indulge in culinary delights and stimulating conversation. A review further down mentions dissatisfaction with curry stains on a tablecloth. However, anyone who enjoys cooking spicy food is familiar with this issue. Some curries and chili pastes that I regularly use don't come out even after a 90-degree wash—or only gradually after many washes. This has nothing to do with poor hygiene; it simply demonstrates how cotton can be dyed with natural substances, even unintentionally. For my impression of the cleanliness of a restaurant whose kitchen is not usually accessible to its patrons, the condition of the restrooms is just as important as the overall ambiance of the dining area. These are exceptionally well-maintained at the Bombay Palace. It appears that the restrooms are cleaned after each use or at short intervals. I don't know of any comparable clean restrooms in restaurants in Frankfurt. Further down, I also read a review about the wait time. Well, since the Bombay Palace doesn't open until 6:00 PM, it's not really geared towards a quick lunch, nor is it in the evening. Luckily, for a quick bite, there are plenty of pubs nearby with typical pub atmosphere. However, properly prepared food takes time to be served. Elsewhere, a little further down, the owner's behavior towards his employees and guests is criticized, even his somewhat peculiar sense of humor. In my opinion, "evaluating" the way employees are treated requires a proper understanding of their motivations, expectations, and experiences. However, the owner doesn't behave contemptuously or humiliatingly towards them—at least not in my presence. The way the owner treats his guests is clearly aimed at creating a welcoming atmosphere that will turn customers into regulars. This approach might seem a bit odd to some people, as the owner often acts as if you've been close friends for years. However, I prefer it to being treated by staff in some other restaurants as if the guest's presence disturbs their idleness. I find the owner's humor, which doesn't always resonate with me, so amusing for precisely this reason. It's so quirky and funny that it's a joy to experience. In closing, I'd like to ask the owner not to offer us a free fruit shot after the wine this evening; we still have to get home. 😉 See you at 6:00 PM. Cheers, Robert

I am writing this about Bombay Palace and I rarely leave reviews, but this one is deserved. From the moment we walked in, the owner was extremely rude and visibly stressed, and he made sure we felt it. One of us has difficulty walking and standing is painful, so we slowly approached a table. Instead of welcoming us or offering us a nearby seat, the owner immediately started acting irritated and anxious, clearly more concerned about finishing setting up the table than showing basic courtesy to customers. Once seated, one chair was noticeably shorter than the others. We moved it slightly closer to the empty neighbouring table. A normal restaurant would simply adjust it or explain politely. Instead, the owner rushed over and started complaining aggressively, as if we had done something wrong. As customers, we are not supposed to guess where extra furniture should go. Ordering was even worse. We ordered starters first and politely asked for a few minutes before choosing the mains. When he came back, he was already stressed and abrupt. As soon as we started ordering the mains, he walked away mid-order to serve another table. We waited 5–10 minutes, then calmly called him back. He returned, acting annoyed, as if we were rushing or bothering him, which was absolutely not the case. At that point, his attitude became openly hostile. He was dismissive, impatient, and rude to the point that we felt uncomfortable staying. We decided to pay and leave without even ordering the mains. No apology. No professionalism. Nothing. On top of all this, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Not “slightly chilly”. Cold enough to make the experience even more unpleasant. This was some of the worst service I’ve experienced in years. A rude, stressed owner who clearly should not be dealing with customers. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome. This place does the opposite. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Avoid it.

The staff is very friendly and witty, offering helpful advice and ensuring you feel welcome. The prices are reasonable, and the cozy atmosphere completes the experience. The service is exceptionally attentive and warm – you immediately feel welcome. We were particularly impressed by the child-friendly atmosphere: Our children felt so comfortable that they immediately asked when we would be back. The food was also excellent – ​​the dishes were freshly prepared, very aromatic, and of a high standard of taste. We would be happy to return and can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant.

Nomnomnom;) The two of us were at the Bombay Palace this evening. We had a lovely table by the window and ordered an appetizer, naan bread, and two main courses. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. After all, eating isn't just about eating! And the portions were so large that I could take some extra to go. The owner is very friendly and enjoys joking with his guests. The only downside: since he likes to take his time with each guest, it might take a little longer. In any case, I highly recommend this restaurant!

I had the great pleasure of dining at the Indian restaurant – and it was a true delight! My dish, Chicken Mango, was simply outstanding: tender chicken, perfectly seasoned, with a fruity, exotic flavor that danced on the tongue. What truly makes this restaurant special, however, is the chef himself. With his warm manner, he greeted us as if we were long-time friends. You don't just feel like a guest here – but like a welcome visitor in his home. He takes time for each individual, engages in conversation with the guests, and ensures that everyone feels completely at home. A place I can recommend to anyone who not only wants good food, but also appreciates genuine human contact and warmth. I will definitely be back.
