Strandhaus Döse in Cuxhaven

I'm absolutely thrilled. We were there for the lunch buffet on October 3rd, but since it was a holiday, they only offered the large buffet. But it was absolutely fantastic. The food is truly amazing, with a fantastic selection. Steak, scallops, shrimp in various forms. There's a wide selection of desserts. Ice cream in several flavors, and the highlight was the soft-serve ice cream machine. I definitely give it the highest number of stars, and we will definitely be back.

If it wasn't permanently closed, one could judge it.

The buffet had a large selection and was very tasty. It was always refilled quickly. Great view. Always happy to come back. Keep up the good work.

In principle, a change of ownership or tenant doesn't have to be viewed negatively. But in this case, it does.

Was there a change of ownership? They had fish and sausage rolls, as well as burgers. They used to have craft buns, but now they only serve cheap wheat rolls. The currywurst sauce was also just a simple tomato sauce, nothing to do with currywurst. Too bad, we can't do it any other way.

Unfortunately, it's hard to understand and you have to repeat your order several times. Even then, it still comes out wrong. Prices, especially for drinks, are outrageous. It's no wonder then that more and more customers are staying away.

Nice beach and playground. Good selection of food, and the taste is also very good. Self-service food inside, and drinks and ice cream outside.

Today I had a currywurst with fries. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for drinks a few times during our vacation. You sit outside with a lovely view of the North Sea.

The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is pleasant. The selection is decent.

Here you sit in the front row overlooking the North Sea. After a day at the beach, it's a wonderful place to end the day...prices...a vacation spot, after all...the new owners are nice and friendly...

Ate in the snack area. Unlike last year, I was disappointed. The tables outside weren't particularly clean. The fries were great, the burger wasn't hot, and the cheese wasn't melted. Restrooms...well, okay... watching the sunset was perfect.

After the new tenant family took over, a breath of fresh air is blowing. Everyone is very committed and friendly! Prices are OK. We look forward to continuing the renovations. Good luck!

We ate another huge burger with just as many fries here. It was great, as always. And now they're open Monday and Tuesday, too.

Unfortunately, the crepe didn't taste good at all, so I threw half of it away. The same goes for the herring roll (the roll was old, but the topping was fresh and delicious). The fries, on the other hand, were a dream 🤤🤤🤤

Unfriendly staff, poor organization since the change of ownership. The food is terrible; even a bockwurst was sold as a deep-fried "bratwurst" 🤣. Save your money and eat somewhere else!

Were stalled at the self-service window when ordering... now it's break time and suddenly the window was closed... we didn't get a deposit... I don't know how it is there, otherwise it was always nice there

We've been coming here at least once a year for years. The change of tenant definitely backfired. Very unfriendly and unmotivated students at the crepe window. Small children (years old) are simply not served at all. Prices are all outrageous and the organization is very disorganized. We'll prefer to use the restaurants on the right or left in the future.

To avoid any confusion, let's get this straight: You have to order food inside; at the outside windows, there are "only" drinks and ice cream. We had two fried fish sandwiches and two fries. The fried fish sandwiches were absolutely divine, both in terms of taste and toppings. I've rarely eaten such a great fried fish sandwich. The fries were so delicious that we considered buying another portion afterward. All in all, a truly fantastic snack.

I can't recommend it... Having to queue three times at different places if I want a snack with my drink????? No thanks. Rude and expensive, too. Definitely not going again.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any food (crepes) today. A very unfriendly older woman shouted at me because I apparently hadn't queued up properly. Then, after waiting ten minutes at the crepe counter (it wasn't clear that it was just the counter), I had to queue up again to order a separate order. I'd rather go to the crepe stand behind the dike, where the service is friendly and quick!

Never had such a bad meal. Gray schnitzel meat Fries froze twice Flies everywhere. Gravy too salty Waste of money.

What happened here? There seems to have been a change of tenant. We come here several times a year and were really unpleasantly surprised. The service team is completely overwhelmed. Orders were often issued incorrectly, and sometimes incorrect prices were charged. Apparently, the closing time here is now 9 p.m. It used to be different.

Good day, dear beach house team, We wanted to spend a nice day at the beach today, but unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side. After a quick search, we wanted to have dinner with you to make the rainy day more pleasant. Unfortunately, you're renovating or closed. Even after checking your website several times, I couldn't find any information. There are other ways to do this.

Good small selection of drinks and food. Unfortunately, there are no ice cream (scoops), fruit cups, etc. You can almost always find a spot and sit outside in a lovely spot. Communication can sometimes be a bit difficult.

A nice atmosphere but it is self service

Recommended for a short break after a walk on the beach - the food is also OK 👍 !!

Delicious currywurst with fries and fried fish with bread roll

New owners recently. Very, very nice and they served super delicious herring sandwiches, as well as good music.

You walk into a snack bar and get snack food. The Chinese noodles were delicious. So were the currywurst and fries. The fried fish, however, looked quite unappetizing; it was a squashed lump and very greasy. The tables were dirty, the dining room uncomfortable, and there were leftovers on the floor. Anyway, we were full, and it tasted good.

Very nice gentleman behind the counter in the galley. The food tastes good. I'll eat here again.

Oh dear, a so-called cappuccino that tastes like a long coffee with water. €4.00.

The food has deteriorated considerably compared to last year. What a pity!

It was my first time there, and you have to queue inside for food, drinks at the first window, ice cream at the second window, and that's even going alone with a walker. Oh well. I had a fish sandwich (matjes in a roll) for 4.50, and later an ice cream. Both were delicious, and I sat comfortably. The restroom is barely accessible with a walker. Only the restroom door itself is wide enough; the two doors in front of it are a bit narrow and cluttered with junk, like boxes and umbrella stands.

Such a warm staff!!! Everyone is extremely nice, friendly and accommodating! You can tell that the work here comes from the heart. We particularly liked the mini spring rolls. Food is very good here. We'd love to come back!

Good snack bar with a decent selection of dishes, from fish rolls, currywurst with fries 🍟 to burgers 🍔 and schnitzel with potato salad you can order. For on-site consumption or to take away. Drinks must be ordered separately.

Unfortunately, the snack bar staff were completely overwhelmed by the rush on May 1st. The usual organization didn't work. Things progressed so slowly that after queuing for 30 minutes, we left in exasperation without making much progress.

Our family has lived in Bremen since grandfather Ottomar H. - since 1918 (since Kaiser Wilhelm lost the First World War), and with a second home in Cuxhaven for over 8 years. This means that we have known Bremen for over 100 years and the North Sea for decades. The entire Strandhaus Döse building looks a bit “out of time”, like from the 1960s and 70s. It could do with a major renovation. It seems “old”; It lacks any modern flair. The question is, in the next few months/years (??) of less money for gastronomy (in the wallets of customers/tourists), will a comprehensive renovation flow back in a reasonable time? On the other hand, the building appears “older” and even more out of time with each passing year. The products (food/drinks) are "the usual" in terms of price/performance ratio at reasonable prices for the "normal citizen" (Cuxhaven is not a renowned place like Kampen/Sylt etc., but for normal earners...). If you expect average food, average tourist products at reasonable prices, you will be well served in the beach hall. Now a kiosk, will at least a kiosk still be open in the summer of 2025? There are now restaurants in “Duhne 1” and “Duhne 2” at usual restaurant prices.

At the self-service counter, coffee and cappuccino are very expensive, but of poor quality.

The food is average and really expensive, but of course the atmosphere is great Great beach! Squid rings from the deep fryer for 10€/8 pieces with a lettuce leaf & a baked roll & some tartar sauce. 🫤

Generally a very nice place. Super friendly staff. We had ordered fish rolls - super crispy rolls, fresh lettuce as well as tomatoes and cucumber (which have no place there for me), but unfortunately it wasn't fresh herring! That's what the packaged one from the supermarket tastes like - whatever it was. It's a shame, because delicious fresh fish was our reason for traveling.

We had a great time sitting in the “tent” and drinking warm drinks. The coffee, the Lumumba and also the egg grog were very good.

Unfortunately it was temporarily closed, what a shame!

The food was sufficient and tasty for a snack. Of course we were annoyed that we didn't take the matjes roll. But currywurst and fries and burgers were completely okay.

Unfortunately due to a lack of staff the deductions. The prices are also a bit too high. For a glass of wine 6.50 is too sporty if the bottle is bought for a maximum of 3.00.

Restaurant itself was completely fine, chef was very “charged” and easily irritated. One of the chefs then served the food without using tongs or anything similar. prepared, in between he turned the fish in the pan with tongs and with the help of his unwashed hand and then opened the other people's food again with his unwashed hand, e.g. the salad, etc. I have no idea whether that's correct, I thought it was nice not…

Very nice beach house, with restaurants. Lots of outdoor seating and some covered. A playground for children is also available. Direct lake view of the Elbe and North Sea. The price is okay, it's the North Sea.

Unfortunately the restaurant has been closed since March 2024 and this is not mentioned anywhere. Cheap trick to lure guests into the bistro (which doesn't deserve the name). Overpriced bad chip shop. No thanks.

Everything we tried there was delicious. It's self-service, you don't have to wait long, the staff are friendly and the tables are always clean. Great view of the beach. Always happy to come back there.

Impossible behavior, hand out defective glasses and then the guest doesn't get his deposit back!!!! We won't be coming back!

Nicely located but you have to be careful with the young staff. Ordered beer from self-service, price €6.80, paid with a 20 and said "...back to 7." Get €7 back!!! ???? Explained again that I get back to 7!!! So €13 back. Remaining tip. Is sufficient for self-service. Hope he understood.

Food delicious! What's annoying is the noise at the weekend, we live opposite and the music on Saturday and Sunday is a disaster!!! Now it's 7:30 p.m. and people are still loudly singing and playing the trumpet.

Well located house directly on the North Sea beach. Self-service for drinks and consumption. Plenty of seating on the adjacent lawn. Can only be reached on foot as it is directly behind the dike.

According to their own statements, it's a snack bar, but with the level of a solid, good restaurant. Schnitzel and fried potatoes very good and absolutely freshly prepared.

Great for a final drink after a day at the beach... The fish sandwiches are very tasty. Also highly recommended at lunchtime to treat yourself to a beach break

Self-service beach bar, only had drinks, Hugo was OK, but has anyone tried the Aperol? It tastes completely different than anywhere else.

Waiting times are a little longer but everything is freshly prepared and delicious. The staff is friendly but you tend to be processed on an assembly line. But you don't need anything more on the beach.

Unique view and lots of play opportunities for children.

A self-service restaurant on the wind-protected terrace. Very cozy, inviting furniture, simple accessories and background pop music create a bright, relaxed atmosphere.

We ate well today (burgers, fries, currywurst, vegetable schnitzel, ice cream/soft ice cream) and we all enjoyed the food we chose. Drinks are available quickly. The team was friendly. The chef worked quickly and yet seemed relaxed, and he was also friendly despite the long line of waiting customers. The owner, Mr. Reichenbecker, helped us a lot without thinking and without conditions in providing the electricity we needed for a medical. Aids. Thanks alot! We had a great day at the beach.

Our family has lived in Bremen since 1900, since grandfather Ottomar H, and we regularly visit the North Sea, Cuxhaven. We like being on the North Sea because of the fresh, salty sea air, and that's why we know the Beach House Doese🙋🤗 It's a bit out of date now. Maybe that's part of its charm? It's better to have something out of time and "North Sea" rather than modern "08/15" architecture 😎

When the weather is nice you can sit on the terrace and look out to sea and marvel at the ships passing by. We had a currywurst that tasted good, just like the Stanberger Hell. The staff is friendly and quick. We recommend.

Just like you know from a snack bar. You can eat anything but it's just standard fare. There are fish rolls and fried fish, but I can't say anything because I haven't tried them. The selection of drinks is quite good and there are also a few different cocktails. When the weather is good, of course you mainly use the ample outdoor seating. Here you can sit "directly" on the beach and enjoy the view.

Been here on Monday and Wednesday. We were told twice at around 7 p.m. the kitchen was already closed... it says on site that the kitchen closes at 8 p.m. We then ordered 4 drinks for €33. 8€ deposit… At 7:19 p.m. - 10 minutes after ordering, the staff came to us and said that they would be closing soon. An impudence!

Was there on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. on June 6th, 2024, unfortunately closed.

Open until 9 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. we couldn't order anything, even though it was busy because we wanted to call it a day. The service staff wasn't accommodating after the glass burst, but the boss was, but that's why the 2 stars. Aperol tasted good. 🧡

Always a point of contact right on the beach, only for Schicki Micki guests, families have tears in their eyes, a small bottle of Mezzomix (around 60 cents in the supermarket) costs EUR 4.90 here. Only one word comes to mind: tourist rip-off

Currywurst with fries tasted very good. Given that it was self-service, I think €5.90 for a large Pilsner is borderline.

Ate a fried herring fish roll again today. It was super tasty, freshly prepared, generously topped with large fried herring, tomato slices, cucumber salad, leaf lettuce and onions. The bun is fresh and crispy. Always my pleasure!

The coffee ☕️ is very good. The right place to take a break.

The fish stall in Cuxhaven on the lift bridge to the harbor is simply great with its fresh offering. The fried fish roll is real fish (not pressed sausage) totally delicious and huge. Just great.
