Man, I haven't eaten such good fish in a long time. It was so delicious 😋 and the service was super friendly. I can only recommend it.

We had a fish sandwich with fried fish. The staff was friendly. You could eat inside, but drinks had to be fetched at the restaurant counter, which meant a bit of a wait. The sandwich wasn't particularly fresh, the remoulade was sparse, and the fish was lukewarm. It tasted okay.

Plenty of seating in the dark restaurant and on the terrace under the awning. The fish restaurant also offers vegetarian dishes, but there could be more. Wait times for ordering and serving are reasonable.

Very attentive and friendly service (a young Thuringian man stranded in Cuxhaven). Very good food with generous portions; we only missed a slice of lemon.

Bad food: baked fish is dry and not juicy, the potato salad probably comes from a bucket and the tartar sauce is almost tasteless. Service is not friendly, therefore not recommended.

Hello everyone, After a nice trip to Heligoland, we went to the little fish box based on a recommendation and crazy, it was worth it! The waitresses were very accommodating and took their time with us. All wishes were taken into account and at the end there were even gummy bears for the “too big” children. There were four of us eating and we all had different versions of fish. I had salmon with fried potatoes, butter and shrimp. I have often eaten salmon and grilled/made it myself, as well as prepared and eaten shrimp, but the culinary experience was special! I highly recommend this meal. The rest of the table was also very satisfied, although my wife made her own mistake when ordering and therefore only looked at our food with envy, but of course she was allowed to try it .. ;) If we were in the region again, we would like to come again. Until then, we wish you all the best and a successful time! The history of the house can be read in the menu and is also very exciting.

If you want to eat delicious fresh fish, you've come to the right place. Simply delicious no matter what you order. We'll come back to the little fish box on our next vacation 🥰

Huge selection in the bistro at usual prices. We had delicious fried fish sandwiches. The evening menu was promising, unfortunately we didn't make it in time 🤷‍♀️

Fish cake with bun and tartar sauce, always good.

Unfortunately that was nothing. 2x redfish with beer batter - 2x the beer batter didn't go through properly so the 'casing' had to be removed because it was inedible. The potato salad was good, the Remo was very interesting and good too. Despite informing the staff, no deduction on the bill! People please: if I order redfish from the fishing port in CUX for €20, it has to be perfect. Very unfortunate!

I have never had such unfriendly service in my life. My wife wanted to switch from vegetables to salad, which cost €3.50 and the waitress was already bitching about it. She offered more grilled vegetables, everything was burnt and floating in oil, I had redfish with fries for €20, but every snack bar does it better. The amount is just a joke, no normal person can get enough of it. My mother-in-law had plaice Finkenwerder style, which was very good, I have to say to be fair. But that was it. When asked, I said it tasted very poor for 20 euros and the oily, burnt vegetables weren't either, not a place to come back to. Then the waitress got really hot-tempered. She slammed the plates together (if they break, she probably won't have to pay for them) and steamed off. I want to pay, the receipt came with €88.20. I put down 100, no tip, I only do that if waiters are unfriendly, otherwise I always round up. Now she rummaged through her wallet and gave me the smallest thing she had, I don't care, I collect hard money and you won't get hit with it, batch. Next time we'll go one door further. We have been visiting the little fish box regularly for almost 10 years after a trip to Heligoland in the spring. This time it was great again. Unfortunately the service took a bit long and the beer batter was more like pancake batter. But we will definitely come back next year because the ambience, the opening times and the quality of the fish are simply excellent.

Hello Tohoop. Fish meatball 4 euros, proud price! Fish goulash tastes similar to canned solyanka. It rained yesterday and the bench was still wet from the day before, so wiping it over would have been a good idea. I ended up driving out of the yard dissatisfied with wet pants. Have a nice day 😀

Super tasty smoked fish, the fish soup is great and you should definitely try the fish cake with the homemade tartar sauce. The staff is nice and very funny.

I would have liked to eat here. I can understand why the cook would like to leave a day earlier. But if I'm supposed to come back a day later and the hospitality is then promised to me and I'm unloaded again 75 minutes before closing time, that's where the understanding ends.

I'm not much of a fish eater. There were five of us. So I ordered a schnitzel (Vienna style), which I have to say was absolutely fantastic. My friends enjoyed the fish just as much.

For us, it's the go-to fish restaurant in Cuxhaven. We eat there every time we're in the area and have never been disappointed.

Restaurant sehr gut besucht; Reservierung ist ratsam. Essen war sehr lecker, auch wenn im Bierteig der Rotbarsch im Gegensatz zu früheren Besuchen etwas dürftig ausfiel. Bedienung schnell und freundlich-- für die Damen gab es viel zu tun- danke!

Our first route after arriving in Cuxhaven. The fish soup with 2 spoons :)), plus a herring roll for each. For us the best in Cuxhaven. 2 large herring fillets, finely diced onions (and not the thick rings that you get elsewhere). The soup is very rich and very tasty. On the day of departure we also buy smoked fish and fresh fish there to take home. It is packed with ice in a Styrofoam box that can be purchased there for a few euros.

The food was great, hake as a daily special was really great👍🏼However, the service was quite slow and preferred to clear tables instead of taking orders (even though several were still free), the table was not wiped down (we did it ourselves). We are used to everything better from our neighbors.

Everything fits here. From Limandes fillet (fine fish from the North Sea) to pollack fillet and redfish fillet in beer batter. The salad is also great. We have to stop back to try the fish soup. It's also a really nice place to sit and the place is equipped with nice things that you can also buy as decorations etc. All in all, absolutely recommended. 5 stars! See for yourself.

No longer recommended The beer batter coating could be compared to a soggy, soaked pancake....terrible. The service was nice until it came time to pay. Paying with a card is ok.....please add the tip into account is not possible. We only take tips in cash, said the lady... it's a shame, unfortunately we didn't have one. Then she became rude and couldn't get rid of us fast enough. But it's a shame for us never again.

A great fish restaurant with great employees. Rich offer. My favorite is the plaice stuffed with salmon and crabs. A poem...mmmhhh Even after many more visits, I can only say it's great. Whenever we drive home, we stop beforehand and pick up some fresh fish.

Wer Fisch mag sollte hier speisen. Durch Empfehlung im Guide unsere FEWO sind wir hier zum Mittagessen gelandet. Die Scholle in all ihren Variationen ist sehr zu empfehlen. Die Kinderportionen sind groß und lecker. Es gibt eine Kinderspielecke. Die Preise sind fair, geringe Wartezeit große Portion. Geht mal hin und überzeugt euch.

Perfect. Go and see for yourself. The plaice in all its variations is excellent. The prices are fair and there is a play area for children. The preparation was pretty quick.

Yes, friendly service and delicious food

We are thrilled because it is not that easy to eat out in winter, as many restaurants take a winter break to be fit for the coming season. Another point is that we have our dogs with us. Requested in the fish box so that we weren't sitting right in the middle and the dogs had room. The young man in service was super nice and very competent. The kitchen delivered very well and the restaurant was great and very cozy. We were completely satisfied. If you want to eat fish, this is the right place for you. We'll be back.

Einmal "Kleine Fischkiste" immer "Kleine Fischkiste". Dafür fahren wir auch gerne 50 km (einfache Tour). Schnelles zuvorkommendes Personal und ein Superessen. Sind hier noch nie enttäuscht worden! Im Grunde wäre eine Namensänderung in "Spezial-Fischkiste" angebracht.

We have eaten here many times and have always been satisfied. I eat lemonade fillet every time because I can only get it here on the coast. It is served with a bowl of crabs, a very good remoulade sauce and a really tasty salad. This time there was a non-fish eater in our group who ordered chicken schnitzel. This dish consisted of small chicken schnitzels, a bowl of fries and nothing else. No vegetable side dish or sauce, let alone a salad. The sachet of ketchup was charged an additional €0.50, so the whole thing cost €19. Even taking into account the generally increased prices, this doesn't seem entirely appropriate for a rather spartan meal, especially in comparison with the really good fish plates. Conclusion: Fish lovers are probably in good hands here.

We now come to Cuxhaven a few times a year. On the last day we always buy our fresh fish to take away from the small fish box. First of all, of course, the obligatory fried fish with tartar sauce! Kurz vor Weihnachten noch einen Ausflug nach Cuxhaven gemacht und diesmal in der Kleinen Fischkiste zum Mittagessen eingekehrt. Labskaus und Scholle Finkenwerder Art mit Bratkartoffeln haben wir ausgewählt, dazu gab es jeweils einen Beilagensalat. Der Salat war vielfältig, mit verschiedenen Blattsalaten, Kirschtomaten, Radieschen, Mandarinen und einem sehr leckeren Joghurtdressing. Der Labskaus war würzig und die Spiegeleier perfekt (das Eigelb noch leicht flüssig), die Scholle so gut gegart, dass sie sich leicht von den Gräten lösen ließ, jedoch nicht seifig war. Bratkartoffeln und Scholle norddeutsch salzarm, aber dank der schönen Salz- und Pfeffermühlen auf dem Tisch leicht nachwürzbar. Der Tee ist von Tee Gschwendner und das Bier von Steuermanns, einer kleinen Bremerhavener Brauerei. Steuermanns gibt es nicht oft, das Bernstein und Schwarzbier sehr lecker. Die Linie zum Abschluss war eisgekühlt, wie es sich gehört. Fazit: absolut empfehlenswert, da der Service schnell und sehr norddeutsch-freundlich und das Essen einfach gut war.

Sehr gemütliches Lokal an der Fischmeile von Cuxhaven. Freundliche Bedienung, gute Fischauswahl und faire Preise. Wir waren im Frühjahr schon einmal dort und beide Male wurden wir nicht enttäuscht. Das Limandenfilet.ist sehr zu empfehlen. Und die Fischsuppe war klasse, reichlich Fisch !

Four of us went there for lunch this week. Pre-ordering even outside of the season is a must. Very attentive service. The main course took a little longer. Not for office breaks. Food was very tasty. But the price is quite ambitious. Sure, fish is expensive. But the price was also shocking, even for city dwellers, given the rather rustic (but it fits well) ambience.

Today I found myself standing in front of a closed door for the second time after a long hike, even though the internet and website said it was open. There are no opening times listed on the door either. Apparently the operator doesn't care about his guests. This is not how you treat your guests. That was the last time. We can also spend our money elsewhere and there are plenty of alternatives. We also thought the measly plaice for 28 euros was brazen last time.

Food too expensive, portions manageable. No decoration or salad. It's a shame. Otherwise the food was delicious

The salmon breakfast in the fish box is simply a must when staying in Cuxhaven. All other breakfast variations are of course also recommended.

In the evening I ordered the dish of the day: redfish fillet in beer batter with boiled potatoes, spinach, egg. The fish was cooked to perfection, boneless and extremely tasty! The spinach went perfectly with it. The beer selection is very large: there are all sorts of varieties from “ Steuermann’s “. The “Bernstein” is also highly recommended. The service is quick and very friendly. The ambience fits the name perfectly and invites you to linger.

I have never been so disappointed and annoyed with the staff at a restaurant. I have celiac disease (an autoimmune disease) and have to eat gluten-free. I wanted to eat a shrimp skewer with boiled potatoes. Unfortunately, the skewer should be fried in the same pan as other breaded fish. Using a clean pan seemed impossible. What a shame! I have never experienced such uncooperative and uncomprehending staff… Then I left without eating...

Delicious food, but the waitresses are so rude and you have to wait about an hour for someone to take your order.

3 waitresses who were totally overwhelmed. Waiting over 30 minutes for a small beer. Rude service. 20 minutes waiting time for the bill. But the food was very tasty. I wouldn't visit again and wouldn't recommend it either.

For lunch on a Saturday with 7 adults and a 4-year-old child, we were lucky and managed to get a place even without a reservation. But you should definitely make a reservation - even at lunchtime. Unfortunately, our reservation request via email remained completely unanswered. Unfortunately, we only realized after we ordered that the fish sandwiches from the bistro could also be eaten in the restaurant. A note on the restaurant's menu would have been helpful for us. Ultimately, the small fish box remains a recommended place to go for a delicious fish dish. We'd love to come back!
