Local beer, service quick and friendly and always a must for a piece of cake and delicious food..

Was there on a Friday afternoon in perfect summer weather. It was very crowded, but it was perfect for a freshly tapped house ale with a view of the sea. Service was difficult, but everything was handled well and was always friendly, even if it took a little longer. Location is great, beer too, I can't judge the food. But definitely a refreshing modern alternative in Dunen, I'd love to come back for a beer! Especially since it is one of the few places where you can look out to sea without a spa pass. The terrace behind the house is also worth it...

Hello dear Beacon team, The visit to you last Monday was just great. Service +++ Food +++ Drinks +++ All 3 dishes were great and we'll be back... Although not until our next vacation 😉😄 The only drawback are the beach toilets... e.g. Sanifair would greatly upgrade the toilets. Update August 13, 2024 Even 2 years later everything is still at the same level and it was incredibly tasty! Top! 👍👍👍

It wasn't possible to walk past the attractive house with hunger and children. There was something nice for everyone, the prices were totally okay. The little ones were given children's cutlery and were pampered like the adults. With delicious food, friendly and caring service, a day at the sea just makes you even happier. Thanks for the hospitality.

I couldn't try the food because even though they closed at 9pm and we were there at 8.30pm they no longer served us food, the service wasn't one of the best, they weren't very kind, the place is nice and the also local, at sunset it's really nice to sit on the terrace and enjoy the view, but to eat I had to go to McDonald's since in that little town by the sea they close at 9pm, sad, very sad for a tourist going on holiday.

Great location with a view of the Wadden Sea and super friendly staff. The food is super tasty and economical. After a mudflat hike you will definitely feel full, whether with cake or a warm meal. Can only recommend the location.

However, credit cards are still not accepted 👎 April 2022: Good views and good food November 2022: Always great, the rump steak with fried potatoes, the friendly service and the view of the ships sailing into the Elbe to Hamburg. We sat on the sun terrace for the first time. From there you have a beautiful view of Neuwerk. The path for beach guests leads around the terrace to the changing room and toilet. We shared the starter and then each a main course. Very happy again.

Once again a highlight. Food was great, the sweet potato fries were by far the best we ate. The salmon tarte flambée was a poem. Always my pleasure

We stopped in for lunch followed by coffee and cake. The food tasted very good for everyone, and an error in the order was resolved immediately. The coffee but also the cake tasted great. Unfortunately, at 3:30 p.m. (Sundays) the selection of cakes was somewhat limited. Nevertheless, we had eaten very well and were looking forward to the walk on the beach afterwards

The service is very attentive, the location is a dream, but the cocktails are expensive and contain less than a beer. We won't be coming back

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the visit that much. The acoustics in the restaurant were very loud and uncomfortable, the chairs were uncomfortable. The toilets were very dirty. The service wasn't particularly friendly. About the food: the side dishes tasted good and the food was also very nicely prepared. However, the steak was too seasoned for me personally and unfortunately a bit dry. We probably won't come again.

Unfortunately, we can't say anything about the food and drinks, as we were greeted at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in high season with the words that we still had 20 minutes. Sorry, but that doesn't work at all. We then left straight away. It's actually not my thing to give out such a harsh criticism, but it really wasn't ok.

Wir waren zum Abendessen hier. Das Essen war durchschnittlich. Es hat den Anschein das viele verendete Produkte Convinience Produkte waren . Leider waren viele Gerichte mit Kartoffelbrei gereicht wurden. Dient wohl der Vereinfachung in der Küche. Service sehr umsichtig und freundlich. Für derartige Küche ist das Preisniveau hoch.

Schön gelegen, mit Blick über Strand bis zur Insel Neuwerk. Durch Glasscheiben teilweise etwas windgeschützt, gilt aber nicht für alle Plätze. Keine sehr umfangreiche Speisekarte, aber für verschiedene Geschmäcker was dabei. Mit/ohne Meeresbewohner, leckere Burger, Indisches Curry (hätten wir hier nicht erwartet), ....... Service kam schnell und auch die Speisen liesen nicht lange auf sich warten. Burger waren lecker, auch das Curry war angenehm gewürzt. Was ein NoGo im Jahr 2024 ist, nur EC-Zahlung. Kreditkarten wären laut Bank teurer, immer diese Ausreden!!! Was machen Ausländer, die keine EC-Karte haben?

Extremely friendly employees who are also attentive. Unfortunately you don't find it that often anymore. Actually everything was 5 stars but still 4 stars overall because payment with debit cards and my credit card was not possible. With so many tourists here, that shouldn't be a problem!

Service was excellent, from the welcome to the choice of seating, dealing with children and advice on drinks. Food came super quickly, everything was very, very tasty. Only recommended!

The portions are very, very small for the prices. The fried potatoes weren't cooked through and weren't really seasoned. Unfortunately disappointing for the price.

Beacon is really no longer a recommendation! We were 14 minutes late. Space allocated. Had to go to some people's table. A great table was free. That's what I asked for. I was told it was reserved at 7 p.m. When I pointed out to the waiter that you could only make a reservation at 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m., he said the boss had reserved it. The table was unoccupied the entire time. As I was leaving I asked again why the table wasn't occupied yet. Answer: The boss spontaneously wanted to sit outside. I really can't think of anything else...

Wir waren im letzten Jahr schon ein paar mal hier und sehr angetan von der tollen Aussicht und dem guten Essen. Leider wurden inzwischen einige Speisen von der Speisekarte genommen und man hat nur noch eine kleinere Auswahl. Aus Unternehmerischer Sicht ist dies ja oft nötig, aber wir hatten etwas mehr erwartet und waren gegenüber dem Vorjahr etwas enttäuscht.

We were there last year and definitely wanted to come back because of the great view. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was disappointing. Basically, we are willing to pay more for such a beautiful view... Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us. We will try other restaurants next year.

The burgers are (still) very tasty, even if the crispy chicken was probably no longer crispy. The minimalist arrangement doesn't bother me, even though I'm a fan of the obligatory handful of salad that's often served on the plate in restaurants. I think it's nice that you don't have to call to make a reservation. But why do I have to download an app specifically for this? And then I can't even find the menu, I have to download it as a PDF from the homepage. Why not integrate the reservation request on the HP? Unnecessary, especially for holidaymakers, as the app basically has no functions otherwise (including in a restaurant). Seems a bit overenthusiastic to me, but the very nice waitress welcomed my comment about the lack of a menu in the app in a friendly and open manner. However, in my opinion, the prices are already very high. I don't accept that "you pay for the location"; by the sea it shouldn't be a bonus that the restaurant is near the sea. I go there for the food, not for the view, I also get that from the beach chair. And when we make a reservation, we are always seated inside - of course, whoever walks by shouldn't think that everything is full, when actually all the tables outside are occupied and everything inside is free. So will I get a cheaper meal if I have to stare at the wall instead of looking at the sea? Nope. (The drawings are wonderful though!) Ultimately, for me, this is a restaurant where I like to eat once (!) on my vacation if something is available. But if everything is filled, I won't shed a tear, but instead think to myself "then we'll just eat somewhere else and we'll even save a little". It's delicious here, but somehow I never come here with the same excitement as I do at other restaurants we like to visit on vacation. For me, the beacon is this thing that you like to take with you on vacation, even though it is overpriced, because spending too much money is part of vacation. Which is actually a shame because there's more to it than that.

A good restaurant serves warm plates, as does the Beacon. Food very tasty, service A1, ambience great 👍🏼 There was a display with sauces for the burger with fries - we love it!

The food was good. What bothers me is why can't you pay with a debit or visa card! If you want it that way, write it at the entrance!

We regularly travel to Dunen and really enjoy stopping here. Always nice staff, the food is always delicious (spare rips are highly recommended), everything is just right. We always like to come back.

We ate here with our dog at sunset. We were able to sit outside with a wonderful view of the sea. We found the service to be very friendly and attentive and the food to be delicious. We'll be back🫶🏻

The cocktails are well mixed and appear to be a bit expensive, although they are a bit expensive. The service was nice and despite the bad weather you have a great view.

Perfectly located on the dike, depending on your space, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Wadden Sea. It was tasty, our service was friendly. The price wasn't overpriced, we didn't pay more here than anywhere else. A good end to the evening.

Now when the weather is as nice as we were able to enjoy today, it is very cozy in the beacon 🔥. My burger 🍔 came exactly how I wanted it! Service Nordic good 👍

We have been guests at the Leuchtfeuer during our Duhnen holidays for many years. First as a father, then with one child, now with two children. The food tastes very good, the ambience and the location are outstanding! Along with two other restaurants in Duhnen, the beacon is also a must-visit. We would like to come again.

After "just" drinking the great tea here last fall, I came back this year to eat. The Iberico neck teak was nothing short of bombastic. From the taste to the portion size and presentation, everything was excellent The service staff are very friendly and well trained, paying attention to quick service, order and cleanliness I'll be back next year at the latest

The beacon is perfect, behind glass you are protected from the wind and you have a beautiful view of the Wadden Sea. The service here is also very good. The dishes are delicious and came very quickly, so a nice greeting to the kitchen!

They are repeat offenders but you have to be honest, here you pay for the location and not the quality. Meat was tough and fried to death, fish was more of a crust and totally dry, simple children's plate turned upside down twice and returned. The espresso was only lukewarm, also returned, then hot. Staff uncoordinated and not focused, every smile for the guest was probably only celebrated in the basement. The best location is of no use if the price/performance ratio is not right and the prices here are significantly higher than in other restaurants with a nice atmosphere. We will now take a break and go to other places because it feels like the beacon is fading more and more every year!

Unfortunately, some of the food was very bad... the schnitzel was completely dry with tendons in it and the chicken wasn't cooked through. Unfortunately, I'm very disappointed because many people had recommended it.

Top location: great view over the Wadden Sea, very tasty food at reasonable prices and attentive and friendly service. This was our second visit: the first time in October and the second time in May - each time a different feeling and good each time.

Waren heute zum Frühstück aus Sahlenburg gekommen. Kannten das Restaurant von einem Besuch vor ein paar Jahren und wollten immer mal wieder hin, weil es uns dort so gut gefallen hat. Heute war es dann soweit und ich war ziemlich enttäuscht. Hatte das Lokal als urig in Erinnerung, man saß im Freien, unter ein paar Sonnenschirmen in der Sonne und im Wind, mit allen Geräuschen und Gerüchen, die zur Nordsee dazu gehören. Heute sitzt man abgeschirmt von nahtlos aufgestellten riesigen Schirmen, abgeschottet von Glasscheiben ( wobei ich das wegen dem Wind noch ok finde). Das Schlimmste aber war die Beschallung mit lauter Clubmusik aus gleichmäßig an den Schirmen befestigten Boxen. Das am frühen Morgen zum Frühstück war extrem nervig. Nicht alles, was moderner ist, ist gleichzeitig schöner. Sicher gibt es viele junge Gäste, die das super finden, wir fanden es schade. Das Frühstück war ok. Das Positive zum Schluss: Die Dame vom Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Für sie und die Aussicht die Sterne

We were lucky three times to get a bench by the window with a view of the mudflats. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and always friendly. There are many types of beer here that are unknown to us. We'll definitely be there again next time we're in Duhnen.

Das Leuchtfeuer liegt oben am Deich mit einer tollen Aussicht auf die Nordsee. Das Ambiente ist gut und angenehm. Wir saßen draußen. Windschutz, Schirme und Decken sind vorhanden. Unsere Fischgerichte waren lecker und ansprechend serviert. Ansonsten die übliche norddeutsche Küche. Die Auswahl an Bier und Cocktails ist vielfältig. Der Kuchen sieht gut aus, wir haben ihn aber nicht probiert. Der Service war gut und freundlich. Die Preise der Lage entsprechend etwas höher. Wir können uns vorstellen, hier noch einmal zu essen. Empfehlenswert.

Mega great location. You can relax and look out over the Wadden Sea and enjoy delicious cocktails. The menu is extensive and the staff is fluffy. Always worth a visit.

The restaurant thrives on its exposed top location on top of the dike with a wonderful view. The prices are accordingly, but the food is also worth it in terms of taste, although the portions are small in my opinion. The fries deserve to be highlighted, as they were very crispy and tasty. In terms of beer, there is a large selection, although unfortunately the house brand is not Nordic beer, there are beer specialties from the Veltins brewery.

Top quality, both food and service

Staff prefer 0 stars. When asked which beer is native here, the answer was: "I don't drink beer and I don't come from Germany". After a second waitress brought our drinks, we asked nicely if she knew where we could rent bikes here. Answer quite annoyed "Oh man, why is everyone asking me about bicycles these days. Just use Google". We saved ourselves ordering food.

Worth a visit on many occasions. Food and drinks are prepared here with dedication. This becomes clear right from the entrance: it's a bit narrow and you're immediately at the kitchen. We had currywurst and burgers for lunch. Every detail was right. The burger's cucumber and tomatoes were juicy and fresh, the bun was fluffy and the chicken was tender as butter. The currywurst had a unique taste and the house fries were the icing on the cake. Next time I visit I'll try the little craft beer tasting!

Overall okay, but nothing more. The prices have gone down for the small portion of fish n chips. I was surprised at how small the portion was. Service top!

You can politely turn away a guest if there are no more seats available. However, the staff in the beacon should still be trained on this point.

Leider waren wir nicht so zufrieden, 2 mal über Ostern mit Reservierung dort gewesen…Karfreitag hat die Reservierung wunderbar geklappt, Ostersonntag nicht. Keinen Fensterplatz zum Meer. Unser Name stand zwar im Buch, aber nicht auf dem Tagesblatt. Die Sparerips war zäh und knorpelig. Fiel nicht vom Knochen. Hätten angeblich sofort Bescheid geben müssen, danach könnte man keine Reklamtion mehr akzeptieren 🤷‍♀️Mehr Schein als Sein und die Lage punktet. Schade ☹️

Unfortunately we weren't so happy, we were there twice over Easter with a reservation...The reservation worked out wonderfully on Good Friday, but not on Easter Sunday. No window seat facing the sea. Our name was in there Book, but not on the daily paper. The ribs were tough and gristly. Didn't fall off the bone. They supposedly should have let us know immediately, after that we couldn't accept any more complaints 🤷‍♀️More appearance than reality and the situation scores points. It's a shame ☹️

Coffee and cake were very good. The employees were very friendly and the order was taken and service was prompt. However, it is overcrowded and there is a lot of noise.

We have been loyal Beacon fans since 2006 and have eaten there several times during our holidays. The fact that the prices are higher than in surrounding restaurants has not deterred us so far, as in our opinion the ratio of ambience, service, friendliness, attention and taste was still right. We also “smiled away” the energy flat rate per person that had been charged in the meantime. We were really looking forward to our visit yesterday and had already reserved a table on Sunday. Unfortunately, we couldn't reserve our desired spot because there are only two of us and reserving this spot is only possible for 4 people or more. OK, we thought. It's already the holidays and it will probably be well attended, so we'll just sit somewhere else. No problem ! When we arrived, the table we wanted was free and we were able to sit there. Excellent ! The menu was brought and we just managed to inform the waitress that we would like to order our drinks directly before she left again. Then we had enough time to look at the map. Tables were set, lights were handed out, potential guests were turned away because no table was free or unreserved. --> The store was almost empty!! We noticed that none of the Beacon team looked familiar. Up to now we always recognized one or two people, now the team was completely new (for us) and no longer as young as before (which isn't necessarily a bad thing!). We knew exactly what we were going to eat beforehand because the ribs at Beacon are awesome and we've never eaten better anywhere. As always, I had planned to order a baked potato with it. In the new menu, however, the ribs now come with fries and red cabbage coleslaw for €29 (!!) No matter, you could definitely have reordered. ... If at some point we had been approached by the service staff constantly running back and forth between the empty tables. As always, my husband would have chosen the catch of the day, but unfortunately it is no longer on the menu. The fish dishes were also very attractive in terms of price. At some point our beer was empty (0.5l wheat beer for €6.50) and our overall impression made us decide that we didn't want to stay. When we were able to draw the service person's attention to us and expressed our desire to pay, she asked in surprise whether we didn't have time. “Yes!” was our answer, “but apparently not you.” -->Astonishment on the lady's face We really had time. And we always spent a lot of time in the beacon with plenty of drinks and food. We don't want to "save" either and we are aware that ambience, service and quality have their price. As mentioned at the beginning, this has always worked so far, but now the proportionality is no longer there for us. A pity ! We'll then take a beacon break.
