The only positive aspect was the beautiful location on the dike, with a view of the mudflats and the island of Neuwerk. The food we ordered, including a vegetarian burger with fries, is definitely not recommendable in terms of taste and especially price. The price of €24 (!!) for the served meal can only be considered absolutely outrageous.

A wannabe trendy restaurant. Prices are overpriced. The staff seems arrogant. We were last here three years ago and enjoyed a nightcap. This year we were really disappointed. After many years, we wanted to try again. Today, the potential customers on the terrace were even ignored. Despite looking at the staff at the counter, we were unfortunately not served, even though it wasn't full. Guests at two other tables left the terrace with us. What a shame.

The food was really very good. We would have expected a bit more friendliness from the service, and our seat outside on the terrace was suboptimal because the wind blasted across the window so hard that our food got cold very quickly, and so did we. A small tarp in that spot would have quickly remedied this.

The food was consistently delicious, and the menu was sometimes refreshingly different from the "standard" dishes offered in every restaurant in town. The ambiance, especially outside, was very pleasant, with a great view of the Wadden Sea. It was quite drafty for sensitive people, despite the existing, but open-topped, glass windows. We've visited several times in recent years, but this year the service (we can only speak for the outside area) has noticeably deteriorated. Waiting times of 20 minutes or more between being seated by the staff and the first contact to order are simply too long, especially when only half the tables are occupied. Then, at times, the service staff behaved erratically. For example, an order was taken (electronically) at the next table and, without responding to our attempted contact, they rushed back into the restaurant. Then a few more minutes passed, and food was brought out; once again, we were ignored. It was only thanks to my wife's patience that we stayed seated. We saw at least two tables get up and leave without being served. It's not due to a lack of friendliness, but the service staff seems quite overworked. It's a shame; I don't think we'll be coming back.

Nice ambiance, at least for watching the sunset. Tables were sticky, and the service didn't come, so we left. The prices weren't really our cup of tea either, but that's probably due to the location and the place! Well, at least we know where not to go again!

We came here on our vacation to celebrate my birthday. The seating is lovely, and outside you have a fantastic view of the North Sea. The food was delicious; we highly recommend the loaf of bread, especially as a starter. We had the tarte flambée schnitzel. It was tasty but a bit dry; for us, it lacked the typical creaminess of tarte flambée. The wildberry Lillet was delicious; we would definitely come back.

I haven't waited this long for food in a long time. I was there with my family, and we all ordered something, which shouldn't take much time. People who had ordered a few minutes earlier got their food much earlier. We then asked how long it would take, and no one even listened to us (but that was only one person, the lady was super nice). Then finally, the food arrived. The food itself was good, except for the Coke, I wasn't expecting syrup Coke 🤷🏼‍♀️, and the interior was much too small.

Only the lady with the glasses and the lighthouse hoodie was friendly and accommodating! The wait was long, more than an hour after ordering. It's a shame, we won't be back.

In good weather, it's a great location and offers a view of the sea and the mudflats. You can even see the island of Neuwerk and the ships coming and going. The herring was very good, and the fish and chips were good. The service was okay. The seats were so-so.

We were here with a group of 10 people, and it was absolutely perfect! All 10 dishes were excellently prepared and tasted fantastic. Our service was extremely friendly, attentive, and warm, without being intrusive. We felt very comfortable and would gladly return.

The young waitresses were really friendly. They had a pleasant demeanor and were prompt. The ambiance... difficult. It wasn't my cup of tea. High benches, a sticky table, a bit cramped for my taste. I didn't eat anything; the prices were too high for that, personally. Example: a regular fruit tea... And we're talking about tea here. Nothing extraordinary. Just hot water in a tea glass (not a pot) with a few herbs for €4.50? Again, we're talking about water with a few herbs. I'm aware that everything is getting more expensive, but this? That's exaggerated. Just for comparison, their rum grog is the same price. And there was nothing special there. Just water and a tea bag. Too expensive for my taste.

Perfect espresso, super clean restrooms, and delicious cake. Highly recommended, and the staff is also very friendly and accommodating!

Whether you want to eat or drink something delicious, the amazing view of the sea is simply fantastic.

Things didn't start off so well: being told "cake is sold out" at 5 p.m. on a summer Sunday made you wonder about the kitchen planning. The "Hot Apple Crumble with Vanilla Sauce Shot" I chose from the dessert menu for €8.90 initially seemed very modest in terms of quantity (crumble can also be translated as "crumbs" and "shot" as a shot glass – so it wasn't a lie at all). The first time I tried it, the cute little pot arrived mostly refrigerator-cold. When I politely complained, I was told "it has to be that way." When I then decided to have it warmed up anyway, the heating on the second attempt had probably triggered a chemical reaction, which now revealed a pungent, bitter taste of something like old frying oil (?). The whole experience came with a latte macchiato for a total of €15. Conclusion: Nothing & no one is useless. He/she can still serve as a bad example.

Highly recommended. It was simply fantastic. The food was excellent, the drinks were excellent, and the decor was fantastic. The birthday song and fireworks for my mom were also amazing! We'll definitely be back.

We really had a wonderful evening at Beacon. Everything was perfect! The quality of the food, the service and the ambience! Great wine list, delicious cocktails and above all excellent fish! But burger lovers will also get their money's worth here. Likewise the open kitchen system where you can watch the chefs at work!

First of all, the food was really good. We had two burgers with really good meat, absolutely delicious 👍. Highly recommended! Since we were sitting outside, we had to wait 30 minutes for a server, along with others! So the first drink didn't arrive at our table until 40 minutes after we arrived... Well, it just looks like they're understaffed. The ambiance with the sea view in Dhunen is unique, though.

Wir waren mal gerne hier aber bereits 2024 war es erheblich schlechter als früher. (2024 : Ofenkartoffel musste wegen fauliger Stellen getauscht werden. Die zweite war dann auch nicht ok. Bedienung überfordert.) Dieses Mal wollten wir der Pfifferlingssonderkarte eine Chance geben. Aber an jedem Gericht war die selbe Pampe aus Pfifferlingen, zu viel Speck und Rahm. Geschmacklich nichts bemerkenswertes. Der Rest der Gerichte war durchwachsen. Das Gemüse auf dem Veggie Flammkuchen teilweise so hart, dass man es mit dem Messer nicht schneiden konnte. Die Optionen, in Duhnen gut zu essen, werden immer weniger. Location weiterhin top. Ggf halt nur was trinken. Der optisch attraktive Kuchen war schon immer nicht sonderlich lecker.

The Leuchtfeuer enjoys a fantastic location with stunning views of the Cuxhaven Wadden Sea. The restaurant serves delicious food and cocktails, and also offers top-notch live music.

Attentive service ♡, pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the €25 schnitzel, which was dripping in fat and no more than 0.5 cm thick (excluding breading). A real shame.

We spontaneously visited Leuchtfeuer last weekend, and based on the prices, we expected a lot more...two drinks, two portions of fish and chips, and a baked goat's cheese (which we shared as a starter) came to around €65. We really enjoyed the starter, but the fish and chips clearly had the fat from the fryer (it's not the best way to do it), the breading on the fish was much too hard because it had been fried for too long, and the fries were unfortunately still very wobbly on the inside. The atmosphere is really nice, but unfortunately, we won't be back for the food, but we'd be happy to have a drink.

Super Ausblick, freundliche Bedienung, gutes Essen, leckeres Brot mit Dips! Preis/Leistung passte aber nicht bei allen Gerichten…

Located right on the promenade, with a view of the Wadden Sea, you can enjoy excellent food, coffee and cake, or simply a cold drink. Even when the place is packed, the service remains calm and friendly. We've been coming back here time and again since 2014.

As always, it was wonderful to stop there. We ate ice cream and had something to drink with our grandchildren and were very satisfied.

They didn't feel like serving me. I approached several employees to get something to drink. Then I got two Cokes in plastic cups for almost €8. I could have overlooked the price, as I was simply thirsty. But the rudeness wasn't necessary. Maybe it was the heat, maybe the stress, I don't know. But it's the tone that counts.

Amazing in every way, the food on every plate was a feast for the eyes and the palate. We were there with a group of 16 people. The staff was very attentive, the service was great, and in all our eyes, the cuisine was top-notch. The view is worth it, too.

Basically, a lovely restaurant with a great location, a stunning view of the mudflats and the beach. The seating is comfortable and sheltered. Unfortunately, the prices are quite exorbitant, and you think twice about what you order. The waiters are attentive, although sometimes a bit overworked, but we're there on vacation, so we should allow ourselves some time. What bothered me personally was that they only serve beers from the Sauerland or Bavaria, as well as some very exotic varieties. It would be nice if they also offered something from Bremen, Hamburg, or Flensburg.

The prices are quite high for what you get. A vegan burger with fries for just under €25 is too much, and the tarte flambée dough isn't homemade, which is a shame. You pay a lot for the view.

Location: Great location on the beach. Beautiful view of the water. Ordered a cheeseburger. The beef was really tasty, cooked as ordered, and cooked medium-rare. The brioche bun was very good, and it had real cheddar. The Lore of Lighthouse Fries was really nice. I'll be back, keep it up.

Shocked by the extremely expensive menu. The waiter outside didn't really feel like serving either; one couple left, another sat down inside to be served. We waited a long time to order drinks. After looking at the menu, we left the food. It used to be €5 for a loaf of bread with dips, but now it's €13.40. That's absolutely insane. We used to really enjoy coming here, but not anymore.

Overall, the restaurant makes a very good impression. The food not only looks delicious, it also tastes excellent! Kudos to the kitchen. The portions are truly more than ample. I was particularly impressed by the pumpkin loaf with three dips. Heavenly! Unfortunately, the service during our visit left a lot to be desired. The place was packed, and the evening was certainly very stressful, especially with the large (very loud) group. Nevertheless, the other guests also want good and, above all, friendly service. If someone requests a meal, the suggestion to "move it to another plate" is very rude. This isn't about disliking, but rather about allergies and intolerances. We found the reaction very unfortunate, especially since we ourselves come from the restaurant industry and are used to friendly nods and saying, "No, of course we'll do it for you." Overall, however, both the drinks, the appetizer, and the main course arrived very quickly. The ambiance is cozy, and we had a lovely seat by the window with a view of the sea. So if you're not as picky as we are, you'll definitely be able to spend a lovely evening here with delicious food.

1st visit on May 17th. We sat outside, no waiter in sight, waited 15 minutes, there were other people at four tables with us. When we asked inside, we were told we would be served at our table. After another 10 minutes, the waitress finally came. We ordered wine first, then a burger with fries. The burger was okay, the fries were good. 2nd visit today on May 18th. We sat outside for 15 minutes, the waiter came to a single table, everyone else was ignored, and one occupied table was just cleared. We left and drank our wine somewhere else. Don't go if you can't handle it, or if customers are a nuisance to you.

Overall, not recommended. A very nice location, but it's not worth it if you're not served, or only very occasionally, at least outside. I would have gotten the wine myself from the counter inside, but I was told someone would come to the table outside, after which we had to wait a good quarter of an hour. Regarding the food we ordered, there was still plenty of room for improvement, and the wine on offer wasn't bad. On our next visit, we weren't the only ones who weren't served promptly outside. We won't give this place another chance.

My favorite café and restaurant with a breathtaking view of the North Sea from the dike when the weather is high! I also love the feel-good atmosphere, the very friendly service, and the well-crafted, high-quality dishes.

We enjoyed a great sunset with a delicious drink. We also went there a second time to have something to eat. We tested the burgers. These were very tasty. For dessert there was a piece of gooseberry meringue cake. 😋 Since it was the last piece, which was actually 2 pieces, we got that as one piece.

Update 2025: Expensive, more expensive, beacon. What was our absolute favorite restaurant a few years ago has now turned into an exorbitant price. But if you want to consume 0.5l of beer for €6.80 or fish and chips (excellent as a snack) for €18.90, please. Update 2023: The prices were a bit high back then but still ok. The prices were justified for the ambience and the quality of the food. Unfortunately, prices have risen sharply. In addition, with fish dishes, for example, there are no longer two side dishes of your choice; you now have to pay extra for these. Even in the “little things” there is a negative change. Fish and chips came in 2 sizes, small and large portion. Nowadays you can only get one large portion for just €15. Too expensive (and too much) for a little something. The quality of the food no longer convinced us 100% compared to previous years. Beer prices of €6 - €6.50 for 0.5l can no longer be justified. All in all, the beacon is now significantly too expensive for what you get. Too bad! 2021: The restaurant has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Duhnen. Directly on the sea with excellent views (inside and outside). Very cozy facility. The service is attentive and very nice. The food was always great, the quality of the fish dishes was excellent! The chicken burger is also highly recommended, as well as the best fries I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. During Corona times you can “register” at the table using a QR code and also open the menu on your smartphone. Top! The only small point of criticism: the menu displayed does not seem to be completely up to date, because lemonades from a certain company are no longer offered, but are still on it.

You can eat and drink well here and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Wir wollten nach einem Wattspaziergang nur was trinken und sind zwei Stunden geblieben. Das sagt eigentlich schon alles. Hatten einen wunderbaren Ausblick aufs Meer, hervorragende Bedienung und selbst draußen zu Ostern dank Heizstrahlern nicht gefroren. Preise sind völlig in Ordnung und wir haben dann spontan für unseren letzten Urlaubstag noch einen Tisch reserviert. Die Snacks die wir hatten waren schon erste Klasse sodass ich fürs Abendessen keine Sorge habe enttäuscht zu werden

We had reserved and had to wait a long time for the table that was assigned to us. Our request if we could sit at another table, which was also marked as reserved and also had 5 seats, was laughed at and rejected. After a long wait, the drinks were brought to us, but unfortunately the wrong ones. The food came quite quickly and initially looked delicious. The schnitzel is definitely not recommended. Unfortunately, it is not breaded and fried on site, but arrives at the restaurant already ready. Unfortunately it tasted like industrial schnitzel from the supermarket. Anyone who has ever breaded schnitzel and fried it in butter or lard will be disappointed by the oil-soaked result. But the fries were ok.
