Very nice surroundings and attentive and friendly staff. Drinks are delicious and the food is also great.

A very cool place with a direct ocean view in Duhnen. In our opinion, this is the only restaurant with a sea view. Great service, cool decor, and delicious food! Watching the sunset from the lighthouse in the evening is an absolute highlight.

We had a wonderful evening at Leuchtfeuer yesterday! The drinks were delicious, and the super friendly waitress Lucia was extremely welcoming! We felt very comfortable!

Very tasty food in a nice atmosphere with a view of the beach! The outdoor area is protected from the wind. Unfortunately there was little service at the table, even if the glasses had been empty for a while. Otherwise everything is wonderful!

Incredibly bad and overwhelmed service! The service inside was diligent, but the outside catering was consistently ignored! Only when I asked was the order taken after 20 (!!!) minutes. After that, no one showed up. Many guests left the terrace early because no staff showed up! It's amazing that you can afford the significant loss of sales! In addition, the music was far too loud to have a pleasant conversation. Prices completely overpriced! Conclusion: This catering company has nothing to do with “guests” and only scores points with its beautiful view of the North Sea!

We had dinner there 3 days ago, a farewell dinner because we were leaving on Saturday. First of all, we were also amazed at the prices and our expectations were correspondingly high. We ordered the cheeseburger with non-alcoholic beer and the crazy duck burger with a white wine. The beer and wine were really good and better than most other places on the boardwalk. The burgers tasted ok, but at least the Crazy Duck is still "improvable", it's just too mushy and the taste still needs improvement, that's hard to describe. Overall, we simply expected more for the price.

I arrived unannounced at a time when there was a lot of activity. They still found a single place for me. The service was extremely friendly and the rump steak was grilled to medium perfection within a quarter of an hour at my place. The drink came a minute later. Met nice people...a perfect evening. Gladly again and again.!!!😋

Phew. This is probably my hardest review. First the positive: the service! The people there try very hard to ensure that their guests have a good time. That is nice! The location with a view of the sea is very beautiful and lovingly furnished. The map is complete without being too extensive. And the food is overall delicious. Unfortunately, in my opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. The prices are around 15-20% too high. I understand that the location costs money and that high-quality ingredients are used, but a cheeseburger and fries for €22.50 would have to be something outstanding. It's delicious, no question, but unfortunately it's not a high-end cheeseburger either. More like a €15 including fries burger. The fish and chips were also okay (even if the breading tasted a bit musty). Unfortunately, the Kaiserschmarren for dessert disappointed us. €10.90 for a really small portion is really too much! 7-8€ would have done it. A restaurant earns money from its drinks. You know that. But here the Porsche seems to have to be paid for. Blackcurrant spritzer 0.5l: €5.35 Non-alcoholic wheat 0.5l (Maisel's): €6.50!!!!!! The milk bar on Norderney is really cheaper and not worse. Unfortunately, we didn't document any of this with photos because we wanted to concentrate on the food. The sad highlight was paying: despite the high bill amounts, this restaurant only accepts cash or EC cards!!!!! No debit or credit cards. Sorry, that's so 2005! The 0.89% fees of the invoice total should be included in these prices! So after a relaxing and delicious evening, you rush hectically and alone, because you left your companion as collateral, to the ATM and then back again in order to pay in cash in the retro style. And that leaves a stupid feeling! According to the service staff, the boss knows about the situation, but does not see himself as responsible for doing anything about it. It's a shame actually. Hopefully he won't get caught up in this at some point. It would be a shame. So if you are looking for a very nice location with nice service staff and a normal menu without any exotic surprises and for whom money is not an issue and only pays in cash or with an EC card, this is the right place for you.

Great restaurant/bistro right on the dike.

What can you say🤔? Service was simply overwhelmed. Drinks only arrived after what felt like an eternity after the cake and Kaiserschmarren were slammed onto the table. The Kaiserschmarren was more like pieces of cake and was only lukewarm.

Nice restaurant with friendly service. The rump steak was cooked to perfection. Very happy again. (Toilets could be cleaner - no more soap/disinfectant in the dispenser).

We were in Cuxhaven for the first time. Found this great shop on foot from the Kugelbake on the promenade. Super nice staff, ingenious and delicious dishes for everyone. Particularly friendly to children too

Prices unfortunately more expensive than Gosch, ambience good, as it is on the dike. Tables are not cleaned, only previous dishes are cleared away. The fries for more than €7 are no bigger than at other snack bars, but they are completely fried and not of good quality. Here too, in my opinion, you should consider whether you come here...

My son particularly liked the currywurst, and the baked potato with a really great salad was also great. Unfortunately, only the tarte flambée was completely dried out and slightly black in some places. The ambience was great, there were a lot of drinks to choose from and the service was good

Definitiv unser Highlight während unserem Aufenthalt in Duhnen. Es gibt sicherlich einige tolle Bars/Restaurationen in Duhnen aber zumeist wirkt bei vielen die Zeit angehalten. Im Leuchtfeuer wird der Gast mit einem frischen Ambiente empfangen. Das Konzept geht auf, spielt mit neuen, frischen, hippen, lustigen Designs und macht Lust zum verweilen. Die Karte ist durch und durch stimmig und mutig interpretiert. Weg von der langweiligen Standardkarte, hin zu Inovationen. Hier wurde sich was getraut. Die Preise sind für heutige Zeiten angemessen und dazu wichtig ist das auch das drin ist was drauf steht. Wir hatten gehaltvolle und optisch schöne Getränke. Zudem war der Service gut organisiert und immer freundlich. In Zukunft unsere erste Anlaufstelle. Zu den Speisen können wir noch nichts sagen.

Auf Empfehlung eines Freundes dieses Restaurant aufgesucht! Leider war heute das Wetter nicht so gut (ansonsten tolle Aussicht , bis Neuwerk) , so dass ich mich ganz auf das Essen und den Service konzentrieren konnte😀! Habe das Gericht von der Tafel gewählt: Grünkohl! Portion voll ausreichend, geschmacklich gut und der Service nett!

Service was quick and friendly. Kitchen also quick. Ox cheeks (4 tender slices) with mashed potatoes, 1 narrow slice of carrot, 2 small pieces each of Brussels sprouts and broccoli for just under 30 euros. Unfortunately I (woman, slim) couldn't get enough of it. Pale Ale 0.33l for Euro 6.50. Everything is becoming more expensive and ambience/service has its price. Understood and completely clear. Unfortunately, not all employees' income increases to the same extent as their expenses. So with these prices I lose the desire to go out to eat. We saved ourselves - in the truest sense of the word - sitting longer, having something to drink or dessert. In any case, we won't be going to the beacon again. The price-performance ratio is simply no longer right.

A very nice and modern restaurant. The staff was totally friendly and attentive. The food (we had the spare ribs, crazy duck burger and the hot apple crumble.) was very tasty and the portion size was also appropriate. We can definitely recommend the restaurant! In addition, the location - right on the promenade - is very nice!

Have been a frequent guest in recent years. Back then, for example, there was still a breakfast buffet. There are now We rarely go there because the price-performance ratio (portion of fries over 7€, but a manageable portion) no longer fits. The view in the restaurant is partly sensational of the mudflats/lake, but unfortunately these days it's only for selected guests. Service is mostly friendly and good.

Unfortunately, the Beacon does not offer breakfast. The place would be ideal for this.

Update 3.12 - Dinner For two, with starter, main course and dessert, 2 beers, bottle of red wine and an espresso each - €137 Kudos to the chef, we expected good food, what we got exceeded our expectations (cheeseburger and steak) - simple “classics” but presented with so much love and our own touches Also “bread” with dips - this was homemade and was already impressive. In everything we were more than happy and enthusiastic. Even made the fries myself, that was tasty :). The service was variable and therefore difficult to rate, from friendly, quick and attentive to the opposite. So far the only place with water for espresso. We would have liked this one. We went here for dinner out of peak season, had three courses and a bottle of good red wine. The food was a pleasure from start to finish, much of it was home-made and of high quality, even the bread for the starter was most likely home-baked. Burgers with lots of homemade ingredients and high quality meat, preheated plates. Dessert Apple Crumble very nicely presented and delicious. Unfortunately, one waitress seemed a bit listless, but the other one who served us in between was even friendlier. We would also have liked the service to be a little more attentive, e.g. If you've had empty glasses on the table for a while. And the cappucino at the end, at least with such a high final bill that we had after three courses and a fake wine, could have been on the house. Otherwise a successful evening, we would like to come back.

The Beacon has the BEST and DELICIOUS hot chocolate in Cuxhaven! The ambience is of course wonderful by the sea and beach. Card payment via cell phone (debit) was not possible, but everything was made possible to make it easy. Thank you again for that!

The cocoa with cream, simply delicious.

The three of us ordered three drinks for a total of €11.85, including coffee, Cola Zero (Pepsi Max) and cocoa. Unfortunately, the coffee was very sour and the enjoyment was not enough. Cocoa tasted almost exclusively like milk and the cola was obviously stale and wasn't served fresh at the table but came in a glass. We would have liked to order burgers afterwards, as they looked very good when prepared and with the other guests, but after this first round of drinks we wanted to continue. In general, we found the menu to be a bit too expensive in terms of price. Unfortunately there is no option to pay by credit card/debit card.

Had a burger with fries and a beer. The beer was delicious and the burger was unfortunately below average. The fries were actually a joke and it was more of a sample portion. The prices here are really steep and are not justified given the quality. We often go to Cuxe but we will be late here in the future because it is far too expensive.

To get straight to the point, the food is absolutely great, even if it's a bit expensive, but it's good - it's a tourist hotspot. The ambience is of course really nice due to the location, but the interior design is rather functional and it quickly becomes very loud inside Only the rest is really underground and frightening and makes it really impossible for me to recommend this place. Service an absolute disaster. There were three or four tables to serve with two servers. And they seemed so awkward and overwhelmed as if it were their first day. We were first seated at the wrong table. The service sometimes didn't know the dishes and drinks on the menu, lost orders, etc. That was really shockingly bad. And it's an absolute disgrace that no credit or debit cards are accepted and this is not mentioned anywhere, neither on the menu nor at the entrance, which is not legally permissible but is given for free. It's fucking 2024 and we're the only country so backwoods that won't accept any of these cards in a tourist area. Because there are guests from abroad and they don't have an EC card and cash is also a thing. There were five of us and if I hadn't had an EC card, my friends from abroad would have looked pretty stupid because they didn't even have €200 - €300 in cash to invite the whole party and pay the bill. Everyone could probably have paid in cash themselves, but it is simply impossible and complicated. And no one should say yes, but the fees are included in the prices and there are good offers for companies so that is no longer an argument.

Super location to “stop off” Even in the autumn off-season, the beacon was an inviting way to end the evening in a cozy atmosphere. Great selection of drinks, friendly team, nice atmosphere and top location. You don't need anything more than that! Highly recommended for *young* & old!

Food was okay so far, unfortunately no debit cards that are common today are accepted. If you want to pay by card, you need the long-outdated EC cards.

Enjoyed hot chocolate outside protected from the wind, the right thing for a hazy day after a walk on the beach in autumn. Service nice and quick.

Service was a bit unmotivated and you had to wait some time for your order. No milk or sugar was served with the coffee (quite small for €3.90). Maybe it was due to the end of the season, but it cost like the season.

We had vegan burger and vegan curry. Both incredibly delicious. I don't even like curries, but this was good. My girlfriend wanted vegan mayo with the fries and got more than enough 😂 Of course a few more vegan dishes would be great, but it would be better to have fewer and be tasty 🙌

Greatest fries and best cakes in all of Duhnen

I enjoyed sitting here, enjoying the view and eating something delicious. I had waffles with cherries and cream and various fish dishes. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The waitresses were always friendly and attentive. I can highly recommend Beacon.

When we were in Duhnen, we went to the Beacon for a burger. The staff was very attentive and very friendly. The great location on the beach is also excellent. We were only disappointed with the burgers. The taste was average for the price. The fries on the side didn't look appetizing with all the brown specks. It's a shame, you can do more with it. Too expensive.

We ordered the bacon-wrapped monkfish twice and the Argentine king prawns once, although our friend's daughter had already eaten the decorations from the plate before the first effect of the food. The 3 tapas as a starter. For dessert, an apple crumble with vanilla sauce, a cocktail, double espresso and a Belgian sour cherry beer. Conclusion: The food was really tasty, the service was attentive and on point. The seating was extremely comfortable and the view of the North Sea or the mudflats was clearly visible from almost every position in the restaurant itself and in the outdoor area. Here we come again! 👍🏼

Everything was perfectly presented and beautifully decorated, even if the friend's daughter had already eaten half of the decorations on the plate before the first photo was taken. We all enjoyed it very much and we will go there again when we are in Cuxhaven.

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the glass of tap water was charged for, which I can't understand given the other rather high prices. And unfortunately card payments can only be made with EC, which is no longer up to date as most banks now charge extra for these cards and usually only Visa is free of charge.

There were four of us in the beacon. Reservation recommended. Fast and friendly service at the table. The selection on the map fits so far. We had burgers, schnitzel and redfish. The taste is great so far. However, the selection of side dishes could be better and the consistency of the fries was unfortunately not optimal (half a star deducted). The prices of the dishes are in the upper third compared to other places - hence another half star deduction. Unfortunately, Kaiserschmarrn wasn't fluffy and wasn't rated.

We have been visiting the beacon again and again for years, but it gets “worse” from time to time. The map is getting smaller and the quality is decreasing. The two of us got a table for dinner, which would perhaps have been enough for a coffee at most. Credit cards are still not accepted, but given the high prices this should soon be possible. Finally we sat outside on the terrace, you could tell that the male waiter wasn't in the mood. 5 drinks took so long that we considered leaving. You can tell that there is a problem somewhere, you would never get a place on the bridge day, the remaining guests are probably looking for alternatives, a good location is probably no longer enough.

Beautiful ambience with a sunset view! It's a little pricey, but I recommend the children's meals - very tasty and enough for adults too :)

There were four of us there At first I was shocked by the steep price increase, which in my opinion is not justified For 4 small baguettes of bread with spread 12€never So the starter was left out. The service was very nice and friendly. Otherwise we are at the beacon very often during the year It was definitely the last time Unfortunately it was very cold and it was totally Tasted overcooked (Kikok chicken) Our friends had puree with truffles and chicken (cold and a very small portion) so we are of the opinion that either the owner has changed or the supplier has changed We are just disappointed!!! It's a shame but then we'll have to go to the cliff in Sahlenburg where the price/performance ratio is more reasonable. Conclusion: totally overpriced and not worth the price! Even if the cold dish ended up being 30 percent off Toilets absolute disaster There are public ones that were totally dirty We are younger but especially for older people!!

I think the prices are excessive. The vegan burger costs ~24 euros with fries. That's really not much for the portion size. The patty is such a mushy patty. Vegans know what I mean. It's made from sweet potatoes. You can eat it, but it's not outstanding. If meat-eaters want to eat here, even vegans have a small choice.

Die Currywurst ist nicht zu empfehlen! Keine hausgemachte Soße, sondern fertiger nicht schmackhafter Curryketchup aus der Flasche. Das dazu gereichte Brot 🥖 war nicht wirklich frisch und trocken 👎🏼

A great location with a great view of the sea/Watt from the terrace. Coffee and cake are a must in the afternoon. And in the evening enjoy the sunset with a good selection of drinks. A visit is worth it 👍

We weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted dessert. We had to wait 20 minutes for payment.

We can't rate it because they didn't want to serve us or four other couples outside despite the good weather. Too bad

Nice location closer to the beach

The menu has changed significantly from last year. Almost no fish was offered. No soups, which the bistro was known for in the past. Instead, several burger dishes have been added to the menu. The burgers all > 20€! A bitter disappointment for me!

There was a misunderstanding at the beginning of our vacation. Misunderstood a reservation. So that we didn't have to leave again, the waitress did everything possible so that we could still stay and ultimately had a great seat. Top service. Rarely found. The beacon on the beach in Duhnen naturally impresses with its beautiful view of the sea. You can enjoy this indoors (but not from everywhere) as well as outdoors. The ambience inside is also very good and the service was very friendly. Regarding the food, the starter (beef tartare) was very good. There was nothing wrong with that. For the main course we had twice the fish plate (current recommendation) and twice the cheeseburger. The fish plate was delicious, also quite large. Everything was fine. Unfortunately, when it comes to the burger for €22, you have to note that the meat on both burgers was a bit overdone, so it was a little dry. The taste is good in itself, but unfortunately not ideal. The fries were good, but subjectively a bit salty. The non-alcoholic cocktail we ordered was very tasty. We also ordered a non-alcoholic beer, 0.0 according to the menu. The beer was alcohol-free, but not 0.0 but with the small amount of residual alcohol that is found in standard non-alcoholic beers. This should definitely be changed because it is not 0.0 and certain groups could not drink it and it would then have to be returned open. In addition, when we ordered a small cola, a large one was brought. In the end it didn't matter to us, but it still shouldn't be for full stars. Positive, there was a changing table and high chairs. Overall therefore only 4/5 stars due to the somewhat dry meat and things regarding the drinks. It wasn't bad by any means, but we were hoping for more.

Unfortunately, totally inattentive waiters. 20 minutes until you get a card and another half an eternity until you can order. Poor overview of customers. No hello or anything. Waiter briefly and succinctly: “Please, what do you want?” As I looked around, I wasn't the only one feeling the wait.

Like every time we are in Cuxhaven, this time we were in the beacon again. The view of the water or mud flats is simply wonderful. The staff is friendly, quick and has an eye for the guests. The food was delicious, the cake was a delight!

The only thing nice about the beacon was the view. The food: 0815 and totally overpriced. The drinks are not poured. For 4 small slices of baguette with dip you pay €10! We were very surprised, but not positively.

Unfortunately, the food is not edible due to the loud smokers on the outside terrace... otherwise, from what was left, it was okay in terms of taste, I think... A non-smoking outside area would be desirable
