Went there for the first time a few days ago. The view of the North Sea or the mudflats is simply a highlight and can be seen from almost every position in the restaurant itself and in the outdoor area. The service is on point and very friendly. We ordered the bacon-wrapped monkfish and the Argentine king prawns twice. I also tried an apple crumble with vanilla sauce and various drinks. Everything was perfectly presented and beautifully decorated, even if the friend's daughter had already eaten half of the decorations on the plate before the first photo was taken. We all enjoyed it very much and we will go there again when we are in Cuxhaven.

The 3 tapas as a starter. For dessert, an apple crumble with vanilla sauce, a cocktail, double espresso and a Belgian sour cherry beer. Conclusion: The food was really tasty, the service was attentive and on point. The seating was extremely comfortable and the view of the North Sea or the mudflats was clearly visible from almost every position in the restaurant itself and in the outdoor area. When we were in Duhnen, we went to the Beacon for a burger. The staff was very attentive and very friendly. The great location on the beach is also excellent. We were only disappointed with the burgers. The taste was average for the price. The fries on the side didn't look appetizing with all the brown specks. It's a shame, you can do more with it. Too expensive.

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, the glass of tap water was charged for, which I can't understand given the other rather high prices. And unfortunately card payments can only be made with EC, which is no longer up to date as most banks now charge extra for these cards and usually only Visa is free of charge.

There were four of us in the beacon. Reservation recommended. Fast and friendly service at the table. The selection on the map fits so far. We had burgers, schnitzel and redfish. The taste is great so far. However, the selection of side dishes could be better and the consistency of the fries was unfortunately not optimal (half a star deducted). The prices of the dishes are in the upper third compared to other places - hence another half star deduction. Unfortunately, Kaiserschmarrn wasn't fluffy and wasn't rated.

We have been visiting the beacon again and again for years, but it gets “worse” from time to time. The map is getting smaller and the quality is decreasing. The two of us got a table for dinner, which would perhaps have been enough for a coffee at most. Credit cards are still not accepted, but given the high prices this should soon be possible. Finally we sat outside on the terrace, you could tell that the male waiter wasn't in the mood. 5 drinks took so long that we considered leaving. You can tell that there is a problem somewhere, you would never get a place on the bridge day, the remaining guests are probably looking for alternatives, a good location is probably no longer enough.

Beautiful ambience with a sunset view! It's a little pricey, but I recommend the children's meals - very tasty and enough for adults too :)

We have known the beacon for years, this time we were very disappointed. Unfortunately the food was lukewarm, the meat was heavily seasoned and everything was way too expensive. Food was carelessly placed on the plates. Toilets very dirty

Unfortunately I deleted my review 5 years ago. There were four of us there At first I was shocked by the steep price increase, which in my opinion is not justified For 4 small baguettes of bread with spread 12€never So the starter was left out. The service was very nice and friendly. Otherwise we are at the beacon very often during the year It was definitely the last time Unfortunately it was very cold and it was totally Tasted overcooked (Kikok chicken) Our friends had puree with truffles and chicken (cold and a very small portion) so we are of the opinion that either the owner has changed or the supplier has changed We are just disappointed!!! It's a shame but then we'll have to go to the cliff in Sahlenburg where the price/performance ratio is more reasonable. Conclusion: totally overpriced and not worth the price! Even if the cold dish ended up being 30 percent off Toilets absolute disaster There are public ones that were totally dirty We are younger but especially for older people!!

I think the prices are excessive. The vegan burger costs ~24 euros with fries. That's really not much for the portion size. The patty is such a mushy patty. Vegans know what I mean. It's made from sweet potatoes. You can eat it, but it's not outstanding. If meat-eaters want to eat here, even vegans have a small choice.

Top location and good food. The selection is also good. There is also craft beer here.

Very nice shop but everything is priced a bit too high. The food looked and tasted great. Actually 4* but the vegetables were still pretty hard and for the high price I expected more.

Die Currywurst ist nicht zu empfehlen! Keine hausgemachte Soße, sondern fertiger nicht schmackhafter Curryketchup aus der Flasche. Das dazu gereichte Brot 🥖 war nicht wirklich frisch und trocken 👎🏼

A great location with a great view of the sea/Watt from the terrace. Coffee and cake are a must in the afternoon. And in the evening enjoy the sunset with a good selection of drinks. A visit is worth it 👍

We weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink or if we wanted dessert. We had to wait 20 minutes for payment.

We can't rate it because they didn't want to serve us or four other couples outside despite the good weather. Too bad

Nice location closer to the beach

A very nice location with delicious cocktails.

The menu has changed significantly from last year. Almost no fish was offered. No soups, which the bistro was known for in the past. Instead, several burger dishes have been added to the menu. The burgers all > 20€! A bitter disappointment for me!

I arrived unannounced at a time when there was a lot of activity. They still found a single place for me. The service was extremely friendly and the rump steak was grilled to medium perfection within a quarter of an hour at my place. The drink came a minute later. Met nice people...a perfect evening. Gladly again and again.!!!😋

There was a misunderstanding at the beginning of our vacation. Misunderstood a reservation. So that we didn't have to leave again, the waitress did everything possible so that we could still stay and ultimately had a great seat. Top service. Rarely found. Food was great and the Leuchtfeuer beer tasted great. We liked it so much that we stopped there again for an evening drink. ❤️ TOP

The beacon on the beach in Duhnen naturally impresses with its beautiful view of the sea. You can enjoy this indoors (but not from everywhere) as well as outdoors. The ambience inside is also very good and the service was very friendly. Regarding the food, the starter (beef tartare) was very good. There was nothing wrong with that. For the main course we had twice the fish plate (current recommendation) and twice the cheeseburger. The fish plate was delicious, also quite large. Everything was fine. Unfortunately, when it comes to the burger for €22, you have to note that the meat on both burgers was a bit overdone, so it was a little dry. The taste is good in itself, but unfortunately not ideal. The fries were good, but subjectively a bit salty. The non-alcoholic cocktail we ordered was very tasty. We also ordered a non-alcoholic beer, 0.0 according to the menu. The beer was alcohol-free, but not 0.0 but with the small amount of residual alcohol that is found in standard non-alcoholic beers. This should definitely be changed because it is not 0.0 and certain groups could not drink it and it would then have to be returned open. In addition, when we ordered a small cola, a large one was brought. In the end it didn't matter to us, but it still shouldn't be for full stars. Positive, there was a changing table and high chairs. Overall therefore only 4/5 stars due to the somewhat dry meat and things regarding the drinks. It wasn't bad by any means, but we were hoping for more.

Unfortunately, totally inattentive waiters. 20 minutes until you get a card and another half an eternity until you can order. Poor overview of customers. No hello or anything. Waiter briefly and succinctly: “Please, what do you want?” As I looked around, I wasn't the only one feeling the wait.

Ate deliciously (fish & chips) and drank (cocktail). Great view and geocachers can also find something here.

I wouldn't go here next time. I don't think the food is worth the price. The fries too salty.

Delicious food, modern but cozy atmosphere!

Like every time we are in Cuxhaven, this time we were in the beacon again. The view of the water or mud flats is simply wonderful. The staff is friendly, quick and has an eye for the guests. The food was delicious, the cake was a delight!

The only thing nice about the beacon was the view. The food: 0815 and totally overpriced. The drinks are not poured. For 4 small slices of baguette with dip you pay €10! We were very surprised, but not positively.

Unfortunately, the food is not edible due to the loud smokers on the outside terrace... otherwise, from what was left, it was okay in terms of taste, I think... A non-smoking outside area would be desirable

A beautiful view over the North Sea

A beacon is intended to show the correct and safe path. Here you are being led onto a price rip-off reef. e.g. Aperolspritz 0.2 ml for €8.50???? Kitzbühel is cheaper and fancier than this snack bar.

DJ fills half of the beach with booming bass so that around 30 paying guests can enjoy the beacon.

Zum Essen kann ich gar nichts sagen, dazu kam es gar nicht. Ich wollte einen Tisch reservieren - auf der Webside steht „Nutzen Sie bitte die App“ - also habe ich die App runtergeladen und einen Tisch für 21:00 Uhr reserviert - es kam die Antwort „Ihre Reservierung wurde angenommen“ dann ein Status mit der Angabe von Tag/Uhrzeit/Personenzahl. Wir kommen pünktlich ins Restaurant und hören „das geht nicht, die Küche ist zu“ ! Wir sagen, wir haben aber doch reserviert (mit Angabe der Habdynummer!) da wird mir gesagt „ ich habe dir doch heute Nachmittag eine Mail geschickt“ eine MAIL! Ich bin im Urlaub und sitze nicht am PC - man hätte mich doch anrufen können - noch dazu, wenn man weiß, dass ganz Duhnen um 21:00 Uhr schließt und wir woanders definitiv nichts mehr zu Essen bekommen. Der Mann an der Theke grinst mich an und sagt „hättest du anrufen sollen“ dabei wird auf der Webside extra darum gebeten, per App zu reservieren - nicht nur dieser Umstand, sondern auch noch der Ton und das überhebliche Grinsen geht gar nicht in der Gastro und wenn man eine bestätigte Reservierung plötzlich stornieren möchte, dann ruf mich doch an und schicke keine Mail - sag mir, komme bitte früher oder es geht gar nicht, damit wir an diesem Abend noch woanders hingehen können, aber angrinsen, weil wir jetzt gar nichts mehr zu essen bekommen, ist unterste Schublade - geht gar nicht. Hatten uns auf das Iberico Schwein gefreut, aber in diesen Laden setze ich/wir keinen Fuß mehr, obwohl wir jedes Jahr für eine Woche in Duhnen sind. Da geht man besser zu El Greco oder zum Duhner Strandräuber - sehr gutes Essen zu vernünftigen Preisen und sehr aufmerksamen, nettes Personal.

As requested in the app, we found ourselves standing in front of closed doors in July. Very annoying. We didn't try again as there are enough good restaurants in Duhnen.

Unfortunately the food was just OK! For the price quoted you would expect a lot more! Not offering credit card payments these days is a disgrace! Very dirty toilets! This needs to be cleaned more often.

Ziemlich happige Preise für die Portionsgröße die man bekommt. Schade, dass die Pommes Portion beim Kinderessen größer ist als die Beilage bei den Hauptgerichten. Das Essen war Ok aber nichts spektakuläres, da auch zu fast allem nur Pommes gereicht wird. Ziemlich teure Getränkepreise, 6,15€ für eine große Cola… Leider sind die Toiletten sehr dreckig und müssten öfter am Tag gereinigt werden! Das unschönste Erlebnis ist, dass man nicht mit allen Karten bezahlen kann. Kreditkarte wird nicht akzeptiert! Bei der Preislage sollte das Standard sein und wegen ein paar Cent deswegen das nicht anzubieten ist unverschämt! Vor allem in der heutigen Zeit ein absolutes Armutszeugnis!!!

Good burgers and craft beer at high prices, visited twice, once 1 hour wait, too much for burgers and schnitzel, the second time 15 minutes, although a similar number of visitors.

The crab soup was delicious, the bread also tasted very good. Today I was in the beacon again. The food was delicious and the service was very, very nice! My friends were thrilled too!

We had dinner here with the sunset. We were able to get hold of one of the beach chairs and really enjoyed the super friendly service and the excellent cuisine.

Unfortunately we first had a nice waitress and then a completely listless one with terrible eyelashes....she didn't have more than one drink...no interest in serving. It's a shame...we were thirsty and might have eaten something.

Was there on a Friday afternoon in perfect summer weather. It was very crowded, but it was perfect for a freshly tapped house ale with a view of the sea. Service was difficult, but everything was handled well and was always friendly, even if it took a little longer. Location is great, beer too, I can't judge the food. But definitely a refreshing modern alternative in Dunen, I'd love to come back for a beer! Especially since it is one of the few places where you can look out to sea without a spa pass. The terrace behind the house is also worth it...

Hello dear Beacon team, The visit to you last Monday was just great. Service +++ Food +++ Drinks +++ All 3 dishes were great and we'll be back... Although not until our next vacation 😉😄 The only drawback are the beach toilets... e.g. Sanifair would greatly upgrade the toilets. Update August 13, 2024 Even 2 years later everything is still at the same level and it was incredibly tasty! Top! 👍👍👍

It wasn't possible to walk past the attractive house with hunger and children. There was something nice for everyone, the prices were totally okay. The little ones were given children's cutlery and were pampered like the adults. With delicious food, friendly and caring service, a day at the sea just makes you even happier. Thanks for the hospitality.

Great location with a view of the Wadden Sea and super friendly staff. The food is super tasty and economical. After a mudflat hike you will definitely feel full, whether with cake or a warm meal. Can only recommend the location.

I couldn't try the food because even though they closed at 9pm and we were there at 8.30pm they no longer served us food, the service wasn't one of the best, they weren't very kind, the place is nice and the also local, at sunset it's really nice to sit on the terrace and enjoy the view, but to eat I had to go to McDonald's since in that little town by the sea they close at 9pm, sad, very sad for a tourist going on holiday.

We sat on the sun terrace for the first time. From there you have a beautiful view of Neuwerk. The path for beach guests leads around the terrace to the changing room and toilet. We shared the starter and then each a main course. Very happy again.

Once again a highlight. Food was great, the sweet potato fries were by far the best we ate. The salmon tarte flambée was a poem. Always my pleasure

We stopped in for lunch followed by coffee and cake. The food tasted very good for everyone, and an error in the order was resolved immediately. The coffee but also the cake tasted great. Unfortunately, at 3:30 p.m. (Sundays) the selection of cakes was somewhat limited. Nevertheless, we had eaten very well and were looking forward to the walk on the beach afterwards

Waren zu zweit dort und waren schon darauf eingestellt ,dass das Essen teuer sein wird, hat uns nicht überrascht das es wirklich teuer ist. Bürger und Fisch waren sehr lecker und kamen nach ca. 15 Minuten an den Tisch. Der Nachtisch war auch sehr gut. Würde empfehlen zu reservieren da Abends ordentlich was los ist. Komme gerne wieder.

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the visit that much. The acoustics in the restaurant were very loud and uncomfortable, the chairs were uncomfortable. The toilets were very dirty. The service wasn't particularly friendly. About the food: the side dishes tasted good and the food was also very nicely prepared. However, the steak was too seasoned for me personally and unfortunately a bit dry. We probably won't come again.

Unfortunately, we can't say anything about the food and drinks, as we were greeted at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in high season with the words that we still had 20 minutes. Sorry, but that doesn't work at all. We then left straight away. It's actually not my thing to give out such a harsh criticism, but it really wasn't ok.

Wir waren zum Abendessen hier. Das Essen war durchschnittlich. Es hat den Anschein das viele verendete Produkte Convinience Produkte waren . Leider waren viele Gerichte mit Kartoffelbrei gereicht wurden. Dient wohl der Vereinfachung in der Küche. Service sehr umsichtig und freundlich. Für derartige Küche ist das Preisniveau hoch.

Schön gelegen, mit Blick über Strand bis zur Insel Neuwerk. Durch Glasscheiben teilweise etwas windgeschützt, gilt aber nicht für alle Plätze. Keine sehr umfangreiche Speisekarte, aber für verschiedene Geschmäcker was dabei. Mit/ohne Meeresbewohner, leckere Burger, Indisches Curry (hätten wir hier nicht erwartet), ....... Service kam schnell und auch die Speisen liesen nicht lange auf sich warten. Burger waren lecker, auch das Curry war angenehm gewürzt. Was ein NoGo im Jahr 2024 ist, nur EC-Zahlung. Kreditkarten wären laut Bank teurer, immer diese Ausreden!!! Was machen Ausländer, die keine EC-Karte haben?

Extremely friendly employees who are also attentive. Unfortunately you don't find it that often anymore. Actually everything was 5 stars but still 4 stars overall because payment with debit cards and my credit card was not possible. With so many tourists here, that shouldn't be a problem!

Service was excellent, from the welcome to the choice of seating, dealing with children and advice on drinks. Food came super quickly, everything was very, very tasty. Only recommended!

The portions are very, very small for the prices. The fried potatoes weren't cooked through and weren't really seasoned. Unfortunately disappointing for the price.

Beacon is really no longer a recommendation! We were 14 minutes late. Space allocated. Had to go to some people's table. A great table was free. That's what I asked for. I was told it was reserved at 7 p.m. When I pointed out to the waiter that you could only make a reservation at 6:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m., he said the boss had reserved it. The table was unoccupied the entire time. As I was leaving I asked again why the table wasn't occupied yet. Answer: The boss spontaneously wanted to sit outside. I really can't think of anything else...

Quick service, very nice and friendly staff, tasty fish and chips. Thank you for having us while it was stormy outside!
