Störtebeker Fish Restaurant in Hamburg

Traditional fish restaurant in Hamburg. The service didn't quite understand us at the beginning, but then everything was satisfactory. A little more fried potatoes would have been great but otherwise everything was great with a good view of the port of Hamburg from the terrace.

If you like fish, this is the place for you. The ambience is great. The restaurant has two floors. The upper one with a terrace and a view of the harbor and a view of the Elbphilharmonie. But it is a little further away. The temporary road hardly bothers you at all. With a bit of luck, the really big Risen will also come along. Even if there are plenty of tables, you should reserve one in advance. The service is very good and the employees are also very friendly. The food was okay so far. My wife had the fish platter and not everyone was to her liking. Others are very good. I had the panfish myself. Unfortunately it wasn't quite my taste but I just wanted to try something different. Which doesn't mean it tastes bad. Tastes are just different. We both really enjoyed the Vorspuppe. What confused me was that there was Störtebeker advertising everywhere and it was only good for Becks. Which isn't my favorite beer. But that’s complaining at a high level 😉. Nevertheless, we really liked it here. 🙂

We had dinner here today with 4 people, there was really little on the plate, we got a fish sandwich after dinner because we couldn't get there, there were about 8 fried potatoes on the plate and they were also completely dry, salad with basically no dressing. Paid a lot of money for a bit of food which really wasn't great.

First the positive: The service was friendly and attentive – and the food came to the table surprisingly quickly. What was rather disadvantageous about the fish soup was that it tasted like bland vegetable broth with pieces of fish floating in it - in any case they didn't add any flavor. The panfish turned out to be fried fish - three identical types of fish, fried to death in clearly palatable fat. Plus a flour and mustard sauce that was more reminiscent of a canteen than a fish restaurant. When I responded, the service employee said in all seriousness: “We can’t ‘fry’ fish.” – That sounds like the best conditions for a fish restaurant 😏 So if you want to prepare fish in the style and speed of a chip shop, this is the place for you.

This was our second time in this wonderful restaurant and we were thrilled again. The price-performance ratio is excellent, the food is fresh and delicious - the fish in particular is highly recommended. The atmosphere is very inviting and the service was, like the first time, simply great. We can only recommend this restaurant from the bottom of our hearts!!!

The food was good, but the waiter was very talkative. The guests were constantly chatting during the meal. Naples here, Italy there... They remained polite but were visibly annoyed. As a waiter, you should also consider whether the guests want to know your political views (kanake, etc.).

AVERAGE TOURI LOCAL -Good location -Food was just ok (fresh salad, ready-mixed sauce / fish was relatively tasteless, fried potatoes so-so) -Drinks overpriced -Service good, attentive and quick (but the wrong drinks were brought) -Renovation in the cheapest possible way (seems a bit amateurish and you wouldn't want to have it like that at home) -Exterior appearance is a bit dingy in the corners We're a bit annoyed because we could have found something better on our trip to Hamburg.

Is a little inconspicuously located away from the entrance via a large pedestrian staircase that connects two streets, you don't expect something like that there. I think the large crowd speaks for the quality. People stood in line and waited for seats. I ate there with a bus group. I was the driver. All guests and I were very satisfied with the quality of the food

Unfortunately I can't give "zero" stars. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the place itself or the food, but: I had reserved as a precaution and added to the reservation the clear message that we were with a medium-sized, shy dog, asked for a secluded quiet spot and confirmation. Later, the system asked me for confirmation... via SMS. We arrived at the restaurant unsuspecting and with anticipation. We were greeted at the door shaking our heads with the words “...not with a dog...” and were forced out again. Why is it possible to leave special requests when making a reservation if they aren't read anyway, which the employee immediately replied by apologizing. Just super disappointing. It didn't look nice or comfortable either. So, for me a straight “six”, not interesting for me.

Bad food, vegetables like they came from the freezer! There should be 4 different types of cheese on the cheese plate. Unfortunately there was only one type of cheese available

Very nice restaurant with delicious food. The starter (soup) was served to us just a few minutes after we ordered. The fish is really fresh and well fried.

If you like fish, this is the place for you. I love fish and good wine and that was fulfilled here to my complete satisfaction. If I'm in Hamburg again, I'll definitely eat there again ❤️

Seats reserved and served very quickly after arrival. Very friendly service! Just a few minutes after ordering, a very fresh, tasty salad arrived and the main courses were also at the table very quickly. Everything we ordered was superbly prepared and tasted excellent. The fried potatoes are particularly recommended. We can only warmly recommend this restaurant.

We were there on a Friday evening and the restaurant was almost empty! The service was very quick and very friendly! The food was average for us, we've eaten better! The plaice was actually very tasteless and the fried potatoes were a bit burnt! I think the lighting in the restaurant is very special, it has a bit of a nightclub feeling! But that’s what you’re in Hamburg for 😉!

Food was great, the atmosphere in the dining room was rather sober. Unfortunately it was too loud for us because there was a larger group at the next table (the landlord can't do anything about it)

Good seafood restaurant with a good menu. I had the shrimp pan and plaice Büsumer style. The fat with the garlic in the shrimp pan was still bubbling when it arrived. Looked cool and smelled great too. The downside was that the prawns were very cooked after a certain amount of time. But it was still my favorite. The plaice was tasty, only the crabs could be more. You could then add 2€ to it so that the price fits. I would just work on the look of the plates and food. I would use larger plates and serve the food better. You can quickly gain a few more points without having to do much more work. It would also have been good if Störtebeker beer had also been offered. Was disappointed that it was only Becks. The service was always very quick and attentive.

Price/performance with the worst restaurant where I was. In addition, very expensive drinks, and I understand every store that has to increase prices due to inflation, but when you sell water for 8 times the price of the supermarket it really becomes bottomless.

The fish was actually relatively well received (there were 9 of us), except that the plaice was only seasoned on one side. The side dishes and the dishes without fish were a bit bland and could have used a bit of a kick. But overall we actually felt quite comfortable and the location is also quite good.

Food was okay, but unfortunately way too expensive.

I decided on 2 stars because the price/performance ratio wasn't right for me. Eat: The salad and salmon were tasty, but not worth €28. I opted for fried potatoes instead of potatoes - unfortunately they weren't good. Fried potatoes need to be slightly crispy and not mushy and limp. The amount of potatoes was also small, as were the vegetables: A piece of broccoli and a piece of cauliflower. I imagine fish with vegetables differently. A 0.2 cola, which wasn't even a full glass, just under €4 is a lot, 0.75l of water for €8 is a disgrace. It was clear that the dessert, a cheesecake, would be small. It was very tasty, but 9€?? It's probably only for rich people. What's missing from the menu is hot chocolate and decaffeinated coffee. This MUST have a good restaurant, especially with the prices. Also reasonable sizes for soft drinks. I wouldn't recommend anyone I know to go there because of the food, there are really better restaurants with better food and a better or larger selection. Service: The service was very friendly and quick. Unfortunately, too quickly: It is a NO-GO that the table is already covered on one side while people are still eating on the other side. That bothers me and makes me very uncomfortable. Please wait until everyone is finished! Ambiance: The restaurant looks clean and well maintained, the location is great. But I was still a little irritated: The shop is called Störtebeker... My expectation was to come into a well-kept but rustic room that was reminiscent of seafaring and the sea and pirates. The interior design could have been done better. There are pictures of the harbor and a few model ships. The overall picture is characterized by white furniture and colorful LED lights on the ceilings, as well as electronic music. Had a bit of a club feel. Sailor music, thick ship ropes on the walls, a large steering wheel and a fat pirate treasure that immediately catches the eye would be cool. The store is too modern and too expensive for me with far too small a selection. Unfortunately there is no reason to come back.

Service was friendly and on the ball, the food was solid. The ambience inside is dignified, but you can hardly sit outside because of the street noise. And unfortunately the view is only mediocre because it is built up.

The redfish was ok so far, it really shouldn't have been less, as were the fried potatoes. The vegetables that came with it were a piece of broccoli, a piece of cauliflower and 3 pieces of carrot. Everything wasn't done properly and unfortunately it was cold. The Dorade Royal had the same side dish and it was also undercooked and cold. The sea bream itself was absolutely carelessly prepared and didn't really have any taste. There is absolutely room for improvement. We wouldn't eat here again.

After a boat tour, we looked for a fish restaurant that was close to the jetties and ended up in Störtebeker. We didn't like the atmosphere. Overly large and uncomfortably furnished rooms with red and blue ceiling lights and painted bricks. Maritime flair is different. The service was very friendly and attentive. We also had a nice table by the window. I wouldn't want to sit in the middle of the room. The food was okay for a fish restaurant, but not a highlight. The fried potatoes were fried pieces of potato and some of the fish tasted like frozen food. For what was offered, the price/performance was still okay. Because of the cool atmosphere, we wouldn't go there again.

We stopped by spontaneously on a Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m. We were greeted nicely and ordering drinks was quick. We had philosophized about what exactly panfish was, the waitress noticed this and explained it to us. So we ordered pan fish with fried potatoes and mustard sauce. My first time panfish and definitely not my last time. Insanely delicious. When we wanted to leave again, a gentleman kindly pointed out to us that the stairs were super slippery and that we should be careful. All in all, a nice pick-me-up after a cold one. And a terribly wet harbor cruise. Thanks

It was soooooooo delicious. We ate our dinner on Friday evening and then our lunch again on Saturday. When we are in Hamburg again, we will dine there again.

The service was extremely friendly and the view was sensational. The hamburger panfish wasn't crispy enough for me and the fish was soft and unstructured. My wife's herring was fresh and a little salty. This nuance wouldn't have bothered me. We'll come back and try other dishes.

The two of us were there on New Year's Eve. Very nice service. We ate very well and tasty. There was fish soup and bread with salmon and the main course was the Störtebecker Mixteller and octopus.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good, we expected much more. The side dish "boiled potatoes" were fried and salty potatoes that don't go well with fish. The vegetables were hard and almost cold. The quantities were also very sparse for the high price (1 potato, 2 slices of carrots, 1 broccoli floret, 1 cauliflower floret as side dishes). Some of the fish was too salty and lukewarm (with the Störtebeker Mix). Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right at all. We won't be coming back. Plus point: nice waiter

Unfortunately the food wasn't good. It arrived at the table only lukewarm and was not lovingly prepared. For the price I imagined something much better and tastier. The tables are far too narrow. It's like mass processing. It's a shame and a waste of money.

We came without a reservation and found a place immediately. We were served very quickly and nothing was left to be desired. We ordered pan fish, which was super tasty, only the side dish (fried potatoes) could have been a little more. But all in all 5 stars.

I had booked about a week in advance. A half hour delay wasn't a problem. The restaurant has a nice ambience with lots of window seats on 2 floors. The staff were unanimously super friendly. The meals were very tasty. I deducted a star because I would have liked a little more variety. All in all, we really liked it and we will definitely come back here soon. Best regards.

Honestly I can't understand the hype about this restaurant. The drink was so cold that my tablemate put it on the heater. The food was lukewarm at best. The panfish was breaded with something indefinable and tasted of nothing. He was sloppy and looked warmed up. The food also came very quickly. Too fast to be really fresh. I don't even want to talk about the lukewarm fish soup. Someone next to me said loudly that the food was only lukewarm, and the innkeeper, who was not even a meter away, didn't react at all. Definitely not recommended. I've never eaten so badly. OK. The side salad was good. Sorry for the blue cast in the picture

My recommendation this time, the Störtebeker fish restaurant in Hamburg. Good food, nice staff, fast service. The entire bus group was served within a very short time. We ordered queer beet and everyone was very satisfied. We'll be back.

There's not much to say about the ambience. You have a great view right at the harbor. The restaurant is nicely decorated. What I liked best was the service, everyone was incredibly nice, even when it got busy. The food is super delicious. We enjoyed a few drinks afterwards. My highlight was the crab soup with crabs. Absolute recommendation!

Online reservations with special requests were implemented excellently, food was served at the same time, hot and very tasty, service was always attentive but not intrusive. Störtebeker... my expectations were higher than what was offered. We had panfish that lay on top of the mustard sauce so that the breading was soft. The fried potatoes served were too soft and sometimes very salty. A small salad with "counted" cucumbers and tomato slices was served with 2-3 small pieces of pepper and red cabbage on top. The salad was very sour. The waitresses were attentive and nice, but seemed fake. The furnishings are simple and lack coziness. The prices of the food are a bit too high for what is on offer.

This restaurant is a must for everyone! Especially for all tourists. The starter soups are to die for and the fish is simply delicious! I have never eaten such good fish in my life. I fell in love with the fried potatoes that were served as a side dish and I actually hate potatoes. The view is just beautiful too! We are definitely looking forward to the next time!
