Restaurant Leuchtturm in Hamburg

Phew, where do we begin? Perhaps at the beginning: while searching for a location for our wedding, we came across the Leuchtturm restaurant on the recommendation of our best man. The banquet brochure at the time was already very convincing, so we scheduled a preliminary meeting with the event team (then Nadi and Chayenne). The service was fantastic from start to finish – we simply felt at ease and were welcomed – not just as a customer, but more than that. So we decided relatively quickly and without hesitation to get married here. For every meeting we had on-site, we ate there and were always given excellent advice and support by the service manager – Lukas. Some time passed, and the event team changed (now Nadi and Sonja); a new face equals excellent service. Final planning was done, and everything was implemented excellently by the Leuchtturm team – even our somewhat unusual requests (like cutting a wheel of cheese instead of a cake) were accommodated. In the evening, Janina looked after us, and she was able to fulfill our every wish before we even knew it. It was simply wonderful and fantastic. We recommend everyone to plan their celebration here. The venue has already become our favorite in Hamburg. A clear recommendation!

Four of us were at the restaurant and ate outside on the terrace overlooking the outdoor mill pond in beautiful weather. The restaurant's interior is also attractive and cozy. The service was friendly and corrected any minor errors quickly and courteously. (4.5 stars) I had already pre-selected my desired dish online due to the very extensive menu: White halibut with a herb crust on lobster foam and a bed of spinach, served with a mushroom risotto. Unfortunately, the halibut was already sold out when we ordered at 6:50 p.m. However, they accommodated me and served the zander dish instead at my request. For my starter, I ordered lobster soup, looking forward to a light, delicate soup. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as hot as I expected; it was very peppery, almost completely drowning out the delicate lobster flavor. The zander was perfectly cooked. The herb crust went well with the zander. Perhaps a faux pas for a non-fish expert, but I was still surprised when I pulled two fish scales out of its mouth. So I turned the pike-perch over and removed the skin and a few remaining scales to avoid spoiling the taste experience, as the fish, spinach, and lobster foam were well-balanced. I also had a risotto that I hadn't eaten before. It consisted of small pieces of vegetables and a few mushrooms in a rather dark risotto. Unfortunately, I found it extremely disturbing that the pepper mill was very active on the top layer of the risotto. The very dominant, hot pepper gave my palate hardly any chance to savor the individual nuances of the risotto, so I unfortunately had to leave most of it. All in all, we had a lovely evening at the Leuchtturm restaurant. The other guests were very satisfied (except for the pepper used heavily on the vegetables, too). The portions were good and generous. I actually expected a bit more for the price range, but I give every restaurant a second chance and will visit again (unless it was absolutely terrible, which was definitely not the case here). Absolute plus points: Accessibility, children's menu, view of the pond, parking at the restaurant. Very attentive service, pleasant ambiance. In short, if the chef prefers to serve the pepper mill at the table upon request rather than in the kitchen, this restaurant has 4.8 star potential.

The food (we had two set meals, pasta, schnitzel, and dessert) was really good, which is why it gets 5/5 stars. The tables are covered with a fine-mesh plastic tablecloth over the cloth tablecloth, which leaves painful pressure marks on the parts of the body where you rest on it, forcing you to constantly adopt rather uncomfortable positions. I find that very unfortunate. The service staff seemed very inexperienced. I understand that new staff need to be hired and trained, but with every drink order, I had to remind them of the missing drinks after partial deliveries, and when dishes were delivered from the set menu, they couldn't tell me what the current course contained when I asked. I see significant room for improvement in many areas and expect better service and no plastic covering on the tablecloth at a cost of approximately €65 per person.

Excellent cuisine and service, but when there are three parties in the room, the noise level is completely different...

We spontaneously stopped by on a Thursday evening and were seated quickly. The dishes are sophisticated, offering classic fish and meat dishes, as well as vegetarian options. The open kitchen, aquariums, and decor in the dining room are very appealing. We ended the day wonderfully with a view of the lake. My partner and I each had a wonderfully seasoned starter salad. For my main course, I had the wild garlic risotto, and my partner, who also eats meat, had the BBQ-style veggie steak slices, which we both enjoyed. The service was welcoming and humorous.

Great location, especially in the summer when the weather is nice, outside. Yesterday, June 21, 2025, at table 72, I was totally disappointed with my white halibut and also with the lack of reaction.... The thing was grilled to death, you could only eat it with sauce or the puree; the texture was a bit like chewing gum. As you can see in the photo, the remaining protein was already seeping out of the fish. Our waiter, possibly a trainee, asked about the food. I said the fish was too dry. He wanted to pass it on to the kitchen. Nothing happened. Another waiter asked how the food was, the fish was too dry. His answer was, that can happen. I do, but not in this restaurant... It can happen that you lose track of a piece on the grill and it gets dirty, but in that case, I don't pass it over the pass and grill a new piece. My partner's black halibut was flawless. By the way, I trained as a chef at Jahreszeiten in Hamburg from 1979 to 1982...

We were greeted warmly and immediately sent away. The terrace was barely half full at 1 p.m., but there's no room for guests who "just" want drinks and cake. The fact that I was obviously heavily pregnant and would have liked to take a short break with a snack didn't bother the waiter either. I simply don't understand these establishments. I'll never go there again.

The food was outstanding, and the service was absolutely professional. Even during the planning phase, the team was always available, solution-oriented, and incredibly patient – ​​even with me, although I certainly wasn't always easy 😉 They truly accommodated every request. A solid fish restaurant, beautifully located at the Außenmühle in Hamburg-Harburg. The food and service certainly do justice to the upscale price range. My tip: the changing menu offerings.

Unfortunately disappointing – rude and absolutely not hospitable On a sunny early evening, the four of us just wanted to have a coffee, maybe a drink, and enjoy the beautiful weather outside. The terrace was almost empty, there were plenty of free seats, and it didn't look like anything had been reserved. Perfect conditions – we thought. But what followed was an absolute disgrace: The reception was cold from the very beginning, even dismissive. Without a smile, without any interest in welcoming us. When we asked if we could sit outside, we were only met with a brusque reminder that they only serve diners. No "Sorry," no attempt to remain polite – just a resounding "No," almost as if we were disturbing them. In a restaurant that apparently has little to complain about when it comes to customers, you'd think a few paying visitors who want to consume something would be welcome. But apparently not here. Hospitality? None. Such behavior is a no-go in the restaurant industry. Anyone who treats potential guests so arrogantly shouldn't be surprised if the seats soon become truly empty – and not just visually. In conclusion: If you just want to enjoy a coffee or a drink, save yourself the trip. The only thing that matters here is who brings the big bill. And even then, you apparently can't expect respectful treatment. Not recommended.

Was uns aber sehr störte, schon mehrfach, ist , dass weder der Besitzer, noch seine Gattin es für nötig halten, die Gäste im Vorbeigehen zu grüßen noch ein Auf Wiedersehen beim Hinausgehen über ihre Lippen bringen. Passt nicht gerade,um ein gutes Vorbild zu sein. Da sind die Service Kräfte freundlicher.

The restaurant's upscale price range is evident in every corner; everything is very clean and attention to detail is paid. The view from the terrace is magnificent, and the food was delicious and plentiful even for a very hungry guest. The only drawback was the waitress who served our table. He didn't respond to customer requests and seemed rather arrogant toward us. Other guests who were dressed more elegantly also seemed to be given preferential treatment.

Today we wanted to "enjoy the afternoon with a fine selection of cakes and tarts from the pastry shop on the lakeside terrace" (as advertised on their website). However, they immediately tried to get rid of us at reception. When we mentioned that we wanted to have coffee on the terrace, the only response was "No. We don't do that on the weekend." After explaining to the waiter that it was Friday, we were allowed to sit down, but were unfortunately treated almost like lepers. Perhaps you have to order from the upscale menu to get the good and competent service that so many people here write about. Unfortunately, we didn't see any of the fine selection of cakes and tarts. When I asked, "Do you have cake?", the only response was a rude "There on the back," where they then offered four slices of cake to choose from. The cake wasn't great...but at least it was lovingly presented. All in all, unfortunately, very unfriendly and also significantly overpriced (a really small cappuccino for 4.90€).

We came here spontaneously, without a reservation. The service was quick. I ordered pike perch. The presentation of the dish was attractive. The fish was fresh and tasty. I didn't like the mashed sweet potato (with a smoky taste and smell). I didn't like the olive oil and green onions with the sweet potato. The ice cream for dessert was delicious.

We were privileged to celebrate our wedding at this dreamy venue and are absolutely thrilled! From the very beginning, Sonja and Nadja provided us with warm and professional support. The organization ran smoothly, and we felt well looked after at all times. On the day of the ceremony, everything was perfect – the atmosphere, the attentive team, the fantastic food, and the smooth running of the event. Our guests were just as thrilled as we were! A huge thank you to the entire team for this unforgettable day. We can wholeheartedly recommend the venue and the team!

We had reserved a table. And even though there were a lot of staff and very few customers, we had to wait almost 10 minutes before we were even shown to our table. Unfortunately, the food selection was simply "not my thing." But that's certainly a matter of taste. We left without eating anything. What a shame.

This location is located right next to the Aussenmühle (mill). The service was friendly, attentive, and really easygoing. Our reordered drinks arrived promptly. We had carpaccio (very tasty), veal schnitzel, and Labskaus (a kind of sausage). Everything was excellent. Highly recommended.

Restaurant in a really nice location and very attractive from the outside - but: As long as there are fireworks there (against nature), I can unfortunately neither visit nor recommend this restaurant. Even small fireworks scare animals. Not just with 'Rhine in Flames'.

The location, yes, the completely overrated and sugary tomato soup is definitely a no-taste and the main course and the service took a long time.

Very well maintained, nice and helpful staff, nice view of the outer mill, right on the lake and the outdoor terrace, food partly with high prices but great and therefore worth the price, lunch on weekdays a little cheaper with a smaller selection. We don't come here often but we really enjoy it. Small current deduction: Unfortunately last time (Easter 2025) the delicious lemon salt with the bread with olive oil was not included as an appetizer, according to the menu we ordered extra bread and oil, lemon salt wasn't there at all 🙁

I'm shocked. At the entrance, me and my two friends were asked what we were going to eat. I was a little confused because I didn't know it myself. The lady at reception made it clear in a very unfriendly manner that we could either order warm food or not be allowed to enter the restaurant. I've never experienced anything like that before. I will never visit this establishment again and cannot recommend it under any circumstances. PS: We had our first unpleasant experience while driving into the parking lot when the parking attendant came up to us with his pit bull and said: “You are only allowed to park here if you are eating and you don’t look like it!” Very wrong and really embarrassing.

If you want to have a nice restaurant visit - please find another local! The first hurdle is a parking lot attendant who blatantly assumes that you just want to visit the lake and haven't come to stop off. And really 3 times! A little tip: don't recruit good staff for this job in front of the Kitz club. Anyone who thinks things have to get better from now on will be proven wrong as soon as they enter. Assuming that you are a welcome guest at 3 p.m. on a sunny afternoon with a desire for coffee, desserts and soft drinks, you are caught up in the lighthouse style at this point and are told that unfortunately nothing is allowed to be ordered here apart from warm food! The terrace is not intended to be used to enjoy a café in the afternoon and look out over the lake and thus potentially occupy a spot for hungry other guests! A way that really cannot be surpassed in terms of unfriendliness and arrogance. If I weren't so stunned, I wouldn't be writing these lines. PS: If you're a restaurateur who doesn't want to serve guests with such requests, you unfortunately don't even begin to understand your business model - let the market sort it out. The only unfortunate thing is that you can't give out minus stars, so much would have to change to earn one - hopeless.

Very good food, friendly, courteous service, cozy atmosphere, extensive wine list. There is one small drawback: the window seats are a bit uncomfortable due to the ventilation.

Actually in a very nice location, but the reception was quite arrogant, which is why we decided on another location. The interior is pleasant. There are very few associated parking spaces for the capacity in the restaurant, but there are more along the street.

If you prefer a quieter environment, you should be prepared for a rather noisy environment. Overall, a restaurant with excellent cuisine and very good service. Very nice view of the lake.

Were there for Christmas brunch. It was great, nothing was really missing

Wir waren mit den Familien unserer beiden Söhne am 2. Weihnachtstag zum Brunchen im Leuchtturm. Der Preis pro Person erscheint auf den ersten Blick hoch zu sein; die Vielfalt, die Qualität und der Service rechtfertigen jedoch den Preis. Wir haben keinen Euro der Ausgabe bereut. Dabei muss auch der hohe Personalaufwand sowohl von der Anzahl des Personals als auch von den damit zu den Feiertagen sicherlich erhöhten Kosten berücksichtigt werden. Wir sind auch außerhalöb der Feiertage gerne zu Gast im Leuchtturm, genießen neben den Speisen die Lage mit der Wanderung um die Außenmühle.

Went to Christmas break on Boxing Day. Great atmosphere, made with love. The staff greeted you with a smile and a juice/Prosecco. The food was great, I've rarely had such a delicious duck and the selection didn't leave much to be desired. We were sad that we couldn't eat anymore and will definitely come back again. What was best, however, was the friendly service staff and the chefs. Despite all the work, they were super friendly, fulfilled special requests, and always had a nice smile. Was a great day. I had a 4-course menu and every course was a poem :-) The service was very friendly and accommodating. I can recommend the lighthouse 100%!

Due to public transport travel times, we got there a quarter of an hour before the restaurant opened and huddled around under an umbrella in front of the glass door in the rain and cold wind, clearly visible to the reception staff behind it. Although seating is provided, we were not invited in to wait in the warmth. This is not what hospitality looks like. There is no canopy or shelter in front of the entrance or anywhere else on the house. We were served by three different people, one of whom was not characterized by appropriate friendliness... it was the same person who had left us out in the rain. The food and wine were delicious; Unfortunately, I didn't get full from my dish (I'm not overweight).

We had a wonderful evening in this restaurant! The atmosphere was cozy and perfect for a lovely evening for two. The food was excellently prepared and the menu offered a great selection - from fresh ingredients to perfectly balanced flavors. A small downside, however, was that we unfortunately couldn't try the olive oil on offer, which you can also buy there. A small tasting before the meal would have been a great opportunity to experience the quality and taste directly. It's a shame that we were denied this experience. Still, the service was attentive and friendly, the dishes were of the highest quality, and we will definitely be back. Maybe the olive oil tasting will work next time!

Sugar as a flavor enhancer - not my taste! I appreciate Frank Wiechern, with whom I enjoyed eating in Hittfeld before. But his current cooking style no longer suits my taste. Some time ago I had the duck-based Labskaus. I missed the subtle, bitter nuances, but it was prepared with a lot of sweetness. Wir wollten gerne einen Kaffee trinken und ggf. Etwas essen . Wurden unfreundlich daran erinnert, dass doch draußen dranstehe dass es heute nur warme Küche gebe. Auf die Bitte einmal die Toilette nutzen zu dürfen, wurde uns der Weg zur nächsten öffentlichen Toilette erklärt. Schade, dass dieses Restaurant für mich jetzt nicht mehr in Frage kommt!!‘n
