XO Seafoodbar in Hamburg

XO Seafood Bar Hamburg Leider sehr enttäuscht! Warum? Der Service war sehr unaufmerksam. Die Gänge haben jeweils sehr lange gedauert. Wesentliche Dinge bei den Speisen haben gefehlt. Reservierung online empfohlen. Bedingung: Man muss mit einer Kreditkarte die Reservierung vorher bestätigen. Wenn man nicht 48 Stunden vorher storniert, weil bspw. kurzfristig krank, wird die Kreditkarte mit 90 Euro für 2 Personen belastet. Wir haben in der XO Seafood Bar einen Tisch reserviert, weil sie schon lange auf unserer Wunschliste stand. Nicht nur, weil sie im Frühjahr von Tim Mälzer bei Kitchen Impossible war. Wir hatten zu 18:00 Uhr einen Tisch bestellt, wurden freundlich begrüßt und zu unserem Tisch geführt. Die Speisekarte hatten wir vorher bereits online studiert und hatten schon einen Plan, was wir bestellen wollen. Meine Frau hat sich die Pasta Krabbe gewünscht. Für mich lasen sich viele Angebote in der Speisekarte sehr gut, letztendlich habe ich mich dann für drei Vorspeisen entschieden, die ich gut aus vielen Restaurants oder selbst zubereiten kenne und auf die ich mich sehr gefreut habe. Zwei davon als Vorspeise für uns zwei, die dritte zum Hauptgang meiner Frau, bei dem wir uns beides teilen. Als Starter gegen den ersten großen Hunger haben wir das Sauerteigbrot mit Miso Butter und Algen Kaviar (10,- €) bestellt, welches auch „prompt“ 45 Minuten später, gegen 18:45 Uhr serviert wurde. Das Sauerteigbrot ist sehr lecker, die Miso Butter ziemlich sehr salzig, der Kaviar aus Algen … hmm? ich weiß nicht, geschmacklich nicht meins und braucht man nicht zum Sauerteig Brot. Zwischendurch (ca. gefühlt 15 Minuten) mehrmals versucht Blick Kontakt zum Service herzustellen, um von unserem bestellten Wein etwas nachfüllen zu lassen. Habe ich dann selbst übernommen, macht man eigentlich nicht, war für mich dann aber okay, weil sich unser Service nicht darum gekümmert hat. Als Vorspeisen haben wir Skana Gyoza: Catch of the day, shrimps, pointed cabbage, garlic, chili; Classic 16 € und Sashimi Crudo: Catch of the day, red shiso, pink ginger elderflower capers, beetroot-wasabi 22 € bestellt. Die Gyozas (5 Stück) kamen leider ohne wir es kennen mit einem passenden Dip oder Sauce dazu. Für das Sashimi vom Kabeljau haben wir nach Stäbchen gefragt. Die gab es nach Nachfragen vom Service in der Küche leider nicht. Sashimi mit Messer und Gabel? Hat aber sehr gut geschmeckt. Gegen 19:15 Uhr (halbe Stunde nach dem Sauerteig Brot) habe ich nach bereits etwas längerem warten unserem Service gesagt, dass wir jetzt gerne bereit für unsere Vorspeise sind. Die Teller für das Sauerteig Brot mit den Resten der Miso Butter drauf blieben für die Aufteilung der beiden Vorspeisen für uns beide liegen. Kann man aus umweltgerechten Gedanken machen. Alles ok. Diese kam dann auch „subito“ 30 Minuten später gegen 19:45 Uhr. Pasta Krabbe 28 € und BBQ Clams, grilled clams, miso sesame mayo, bitter salad, char caviar 23 €. Pasta Krabbe hat meiner Frau gut geschmeckt. Mir leider gar nicht. Aber/und: Das Gericht heißt „Pasta Krabbe“. Wir haben die große Portion für 28 € bestellt. Hier waren maximal 10 Minikrabben, dafür viel Forellenkaviar aber leider nur maximal ca. zwei Esslöffel Bisque drin. Hier stimmt das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis nicht. BBQ Clams (23 €): Das waren ca. 9 Miesmuscheln (das Kilo kostet ca. 4,99 €) auf Radicchio Salat waren lecker! Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis passt auch hier ebenfalls nicht. Service: im Vergleich zu dem, was wir kennen, leider sehr unaufmerksam und nicht gut. Wartezeiten: sehr lange. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis: zu teuer. In Summe: Leider sehr schade! Wir haben uns sehr auf diesem Abend in der XO Seafood Bar gefreut, sind aber leider nicht wirklich glücklich und auch nicht satt nach Hause gefahren. In Summe hatten wir mit drei, vier Vorspeisen, einer Hauptspeise, Wasser, Wein, ein Espresso 164 Euro auf der Rechnung. Vielleicht liest Herr Haebel unser Feedback und macht etwas daraus, wenn er meint etwas damit anfangen zu können.

Ich hab lang nicht mehr so toll gegessen! Wirklich ein Highlight! Mega Ambiente, tolle Kellner, sensationelle Küche! Wenn wir wieder in Hamburg sind, kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder!!

All the food was excellent but portions were a bit small for the money spent. Particulary the "gambas a la plancha"

The food was wonderful as always. Unfortunately the service was only mediocre. We mostly had to refill the wine ourselves and there was sometimes a very long wait between courses. We're actually more used to that. But despite everything, a nice evening

Service and ambience (whether inside or outside in the lively St Pauli Flair Paul-Roosen Str.), top! The food and wine were also very good, 1 star deducted because our main course was unfortunately cold when it was served. Service solved it easily and we got it again without any problems, including the supplements. In this respect everything is great and we would be happy to come back! 😇

I prefer to write positive things, but unfortunately that will be difficult here. The best thing was the cocktail (Negroni) The concept is called minimalism, which in itself can be a good thing, but it directs the focus on the food like a stage spotlight. If you look at the prices, it's not a normal spotlight but a particularly bright one. If the stage performance is not right, then the disappointment is great. What did we have: Drinks (Negroni, passion fruit juice, water and a Chablis) everything OK... nothing special but OK Starter: Sardine and crudo from the day's catch, both technically ok, but not something that makes you say wow. Main course: trout and a side dish of roasted potato salad. Both are ok in terms of craftsmanship but nothing that makes me fall out of my chair with excitement. as well as Squid and as a side dish Risotto Milanese. The squid would turn in its grave what had been done to it, it was like rubber, the craftsmanship was not OK, the risotto was also not OK, it is clear that you cannot prepare the risotto fresh every time, but it looked good like the day before and tasted the same too. I don't know if I was just unlucky, but for the whole €155 there's just not enough craftsmanship or innovation or whatever. It was expensive and not even tasty. Sure, that could have been a snapshot, even a chef has a bad day and maybe the other dishes are much better, but to be honest I don't feel like doing an experiment like that again.

Great seafood restaurant in urban Hamburg. Chef's Choice menu is a real recommendation. For foodies, a seat at the counter is a must, close to the young, dedicated kitchen team. Relaxed, attentive service.

We were actually looking forward to a nice evening to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately our visit was a real disappointment. It started with the women's toilets: dirty, no soap and one toilet was blocked - something like that really shouldn't happen. The service was also disappointing. Even though the restaurant wasn't full and there was enough staff, no one was really attentive. Our aperitif was completely forgotten and only came when we had almost finished the starter. Then the main course: We had ordered hake and trout, but the dishes came without any side dishes or sauce - the plate was simply empty. We had to wait a whole 45 minutes, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly full. Overall, the evening was unfortunately quite disappointing, especially since we were celebrating a birthday. We won't be going back here any time soon.

An absolute highlight for visitors to Hamburg - 5 stars! This restaurant is a must for every visitor to Hamburg and guarantees a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and deserves 4.5 stars. The dishes were deliciously prepared, even if one option was unfortunately no longer available at first seating - a shame, as it would have been my first choice. The service was the absolute highlight of the evening and deserves a full 5 stars. The staff was attentive, friendly and professional. They made sure we felt completely comfortable. The ambience also contributes to the overall experience and gets 4 stars. The atmosphere was inviting, perfect for a special evening. A small suggestion for improvement: When specifying a special occasion during the reservation, it would be nice if this were included in the greeting or during the course of the evening. Overall, an excellent experience that I would recommend to everyone. This restaurant definitely sets standards in the Hamburg gastronomy scene.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The diverse and varied menu has something for every taste if you like fish and seafood. It's best to let the friendly cellars guide you through the menu. There are many reasons why I am a regular.

Mega evening! We had a place right next to the kitchen (chosen) which we can totally recommend for anyone interested in cooking. We had the 6-course menu and were thrilled from course to course. We were accompanied by wine, which worked great.

We love this small fine restaurant. Sit in the evening sun in the heart of St Pauli, watch the hustle and bustle and enjoy the best food. Summer salad? Fantastic; complemented with fermented vegetables and favorite pasta with crab. A “delicious” evening.

The main course was forgotten, but came very quickly after remembering. Sitting outside in the area is often eventful and you are always spoken to (loose change etc.) The food and drinks are great and I would go there again.

We ate in the restaurant for the first time yesterday and will certainly be talking about the great evening for a long time! We decided on a four-course menu - Chef's Choice and were super happy with the selection and we were full too. The prices are high but commensurate with the quality. The service is super friendly and accommodating. We felt very comfortable and we really liked the atmosphere. Even though we don't want to eat here regularly due to the price, we will definitely come back for special occasions. Here you can truly experience a culinary sensory journey.

Unique flair and outstanding cuisine. The service leaves nothing to be desired and we were served exceptionally well and in a friendly manner. The pasta crab is the hit of the restaurant. Keep it up.

The XO Seafoodbar impresses not only with its culinary seafood highlights, but also with extremely good service that is rarely found in this form. Davide Elstner from the kitchen team and our service Janis were always on hand and asked after each course exactly how satisfied we were with the fresh, elegant and cleverly prepared dishes. The modern ambience offers an atmosphere to feel good. The pricing is absolutely reasonable. We can only recommend the XO Seafoodbar and thank you again for the perfect evening. Keep it up!

We had a fantastic evening at XO Seafood. Every dish not only tasted delicious was beautiful as well! The servers were excellent! And we had fun watching the chefs in the open kitchen. Highly recommend!

Food was really, really nice and special🤩 not the usual fish restaurant. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the style of the place. Service could have been a bit more attentive although it wasn‘t too busy.

We had empty glasses, cutlery wasn’t changed before desert and the beer was a little too warm. Nonetheless, great dinner experience and I’d definitely recommend going there! I’ll go there again.

We saw the restaurant on Kitchen Impossible and since we are big pasta fans we had to stop by. The staff is very nice and accommodating and the food is excellent. The pasta crab was to die for and the desserts were to die for. We will definitely come back when we are in Hamburg. Greetings from Austria

We sat outside at a high table. Wine was delicious, oysters were great as a starter. Trout with roasted potatoes was very good. Unfortunately there was a 1.15 hour wait between the starter and the main course. When asked when the main course would arrive, the answer was “we are not a fast food restaurant”. You can do it if it was meant as a joke, but it wasn't like that. I think that you can serve some bread in between if the kitchen can't make it in time. So we were already excited about the late main course! It's quite nice too

We were in the restaurant on a Saturday evening from 9 p.m. Our second table was in an unlit corner. After we sat down, we were completely ignored until, after 10 minutes, we asked one of the many service staff to at least bring us glasses and water. The rest of the service was ok, but superficial. We only found out what we had on our plate when we asked. Only one young Lithuanian (only English-speaking) stood out positively among the five service staff who looked after us throughout the evening. The food was good, reasonable value for money. In many restaurants in this price range there is a wine accompaniment to the menu, unfortunately not here. Overall, we don't regret the visit, but we won't be coming back either.

Great food, sophisticated cuisine in terms of the selection of high-quality ingredients, preparation and presentation. Attentive service and nice ambience! If there was a fly in the ointment, it would be the somewhat exaggerated “tripping over the sharp stone” and overly hamburger-like nature of the staff. But that won't prevent us from coming back completely convinced.

We were at XO yesterday and we are in love ❤️ we sat at the kitchen counter and could watch our food being made 🥰. The food was incredibly good 😋. The service was super good, great recommendations of drinks and great wines 🍷. The decor is beautiful, the staff is refreshing, relaxed and extremely competent. Our son (6) was there and he ate a lot 😂. It was a fantastic evening with the best host Lutz 🫶🏻. Thank you for allowing us to spend it with you.

We sat outside. Starter excellent, then unfortunately we were forgotten. After an apology, things should move on. Then unfortunately the next mistake, our main course was prepared even though the intermediate course was supposed to come first. Here is the second apology. The main course was almost cold when it came. We couldn't complain about this because no one came to our table anymore, and drinks couldn't be reordered since the second apology. I spoke to the head of service about the problems at the end of our stay. Approximately 1/3 of the invoice amount was canceled. However, there was no real problem-oriented behavior towards us. In summary, the ambition here does not match reality. Service really bad this evening, food very good, but unfortunately affected by the very poor service. The service response to the problems was incredibly poor considering the level of the restaurant.

Spaghetti crab was of course an experience, our bisque was really tasty and really good. Now unfortunately for the constructive feedback: 1) Prices for the catch of the day are too high, 30.- for a piece of hake the size of fish fingers is too high, 2) Side dish that was not available was still charged for, unfortunately only seen on the bill at home, 3) Although we still wanted to order, the restaurant had already been put together, armchairs were put on the tables, and when we first ordered it was agreed that there would have been a main course and a dessert (no information about the kitchen closing early!), when we then wanted to order the succinct answer was: it was It's been a tough week, there's nothing left, sorry. In this price range, communication with guests needs to be improved!

Cozy little fish restaurant with an attractive interior. Delicious dishes, cool chef, top products. The food is all delicious and fresh. A few small negligences in the service such as the salt shaker being empty and not being refilled upon request, empty plates being left on the table for a bit too long, and the fact that the bottle of water is charged at 4 euros per person and you can drink as much as you want - that's it We only find out when paying.

We were really looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the price does not justify the service provided. To start with, we had a French 75. Both glasses had clearly visible water stains. We thought “it could happen” and took the 4-course menu. Only one course was convincing (dry aged halibut), the others were just ok and just not adequately outstanding for the price. We included a wine recommendation for the menu. Unfortunately the recommended wine was out and we had to take another wine. In summary: We wouldn't come again, we expected more.

Excellent food and service. Very interesting wine list where someone really did a good job. Was not expecting the overall quality in that area. price wise significantly higher compared to the surroundings but worth every penny. Strongly recommended. Reserve a table, walk-ins can be tricky.

A visit to this restaurant is truly something special – a different kind of experience! The service was super attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. The food was just fantastic. I was particularly impressed by the dry aged halibut and the zander carpaccio from the region. Really unusual dishes that you don't find everywhere. If you don't want to decide, I recommend simply choosing "Chefs Choice" with 4 or 6 courses and "Bartenders Choice" for the drinks. This takes away the pain of choice and you can sit back, relax and enjoy. Clear recommendation from me - here you get a culinary experience that you won't forget in a hurry!

The environment in Altona is unique when you sit outside and experience street life. However, it can quickly get cold at night and a restaurant of this class should offer blankets to warm up or alternatively a seat inside. Otherwise great!

Empfohlen von Freunden, gefunden inmitten St.Pauli, war die Erwartung aufgrund der Lage und auch von außen wirkenden Größe nicht so hoch. Aber bereits die Begrüßung durch den Chef machte klar: Hier wird sich um den Gast gekümmert. Ja, es ist recht hochpreisig, aber die einzelnen Produkte sind es auf jeden Fall wert. Die anderen verrissenen Rezensionen lassen den Schluss zu, dass die Verfasser sich sonst auch nicht in diesem Metier tummeln. Schade, wenn man keine Ahnung hat, sollte die Schuld nicht bei anderen gesucht werden. Ich empfehle es auf jeden Fall weiter, auch wegen des Ambientes, das such beim Betreten bietet. Und wir kommen wieder, bestimmt 👍

delish food. everything we ordered were just spot on! definitely a must try their ceviche, the mussels, the pasta! even the side dish of potato salad is to die for! service is impeccable. Try their natural wine as well that is recommended by their somm. Yes it is pricey, but well worth it.

Unfortunately disappointing. The food was okay, but nothing more. I had the crudo of the day (zander) and the North Sea squid. Both dishes were served with a lot of chive oil, which masked the actual taste of the dishes with its dominant taste. The crab pasta (I only tried it) was relatively tasteless apart from the caviar. But the table that was assigned to us was really bad. Right at the entrance opposite the drinks counter, as the only table, you are completely isolated from the rest of the restaurant and you don't notice anything from other guests, let alone the restaurant's ambience. You just see the waiters ordering and picking up drinks at the counter and you feel like you're on the sidelines. The service took some getting used to, maybe it's St.Pauli, but it's not my case. If I want to hear a stupid saying, I go to the brewery in Cologne and order a cola at Köbes, not to a restaurant with upscale standards. In the end no one asked if we liked it or liked it ;)

I have rarely eaten better. The service was fantastic. The service employee was excellent and has very good knowledge of his guests!

Seafood restaurant with very friendly, calm service and very tasty food. Yes, it's expensive, but it's also thousands of nautical miles away from the fish sandwiches at the jetties😀

Long waiting times for the aisles Bread was very good After a long wait, the first and second courses were served at the same time, but the cocktails hadn't even been received - they were forgotten Oysters were completely dry, without water and without the lamellae, and had probably been prepared "mise in place" for a long time Shrimp skewer completely dry and therefore very fibrous and unpleasant to eat Spaghetti with shrimp was ok unfortunately not again

The food was divine. The hake was a poem, the pasta was to die for and the dessert was fantastic. Plus relaxed, great service. This will never be forgotten.

Das XO war mal hervorragend, aber seit frühere Mitarbeiter gegangen sind, ist es leider nur noch ein Schatten seiner selbst. 200,- zu zweit ohne nennenswerten Alkohol wenn das Essen nicht mal mehr halb so gut ist wie früher, ist schlichtweg dreist.

Delicious food and friendly service. Overall very courteous staff. Our three-year-old son was lovingly cared for and we never had the impression that he was a disruptive factor. Thank you and see you next time

You can come whenever you want - you will always be treated in a friendly and warm manner and you will feel very comfortable with the great team! The food is consistently delicious - dare to try something, the wine selection is special and let yourself be inspired here too! A nice start to a head over the night or a nice end to a fantastic day - book in time and go!

We were at the XO Seafoodbar on July 19th. Price of the 6-course menu a bit too high. Apparently either the greeting from the kitchen or the bread was counted as a course, which we couldn't understand. My friend's salad had scales in it and the clams we got to replace the oysters were sandy. The pike with broccoli was very tasty. The dessert was nothing special. The wine selection was good and the service was ok. Overall, we had to wait too long for the courses - sometimes 30 minutes passed between two courses.

We chose the 6-course “Chef Choice” menu and were thrilled. Each course had its own little highlight and was rounded off by the very attentive service. All of this has its price, no question, but every cent is worth it. The evening ended after 3 wonderful hours full and happy

Today we treated ourselves to the “Chefs Choice” 6 course menu. I have to say that I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Bread with lemon butter and seaweed caviar... pasta with crab... summer salad... hake... and all of this with a view of the charming kitchen staff. With the greeting from the kitchen you can roughly guess what awaits you over the course of the evening. Super nice service completes the overall package. Event kitchen has its price and is worth every cent. We were there for 3 hours...full and happy. well done

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal dort und wieder stimmte das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für mich nicht. Die Vorspeise Crudo vom Tagesfisch enthielt maximal 30 g Zander, dazu 10 rohe Erbsen, 2 Himbeeren für 19 €.Ebenso das Dessert, winzig und überteuert. 9 Euro für 0,1 l Sauvignon Blanc nenne ich sportlich. Das Essen schmeckt gut, aber keinesfalls überragend.

Service and food were really great and super pleasant. I just liked coming to a restaurant with great food and drinks without a lot of frills. There were 8 of us there and we felt really comfortable. I never usually do reviews, but since you were so great, you had to. Thanks for a great evening

Super nice peeps, fresh vibe and top service. Everyone in the kitchen has fun doing what they do and radiates a lot of joy. You immediately feel comfortable. Great recommendations - great food. Drinks 🍸 Special! 10 out of 10!

We saw the restaurant in the series “kitchen immopossible” and were immediately impressed - a few months later we visited Hamburg and the XO Seafoodbar and enjoyed the 6-course menu. Each course was consistent and surprisingly tasteful. The service is friendly - warm - accommodating, very service-oriented in keeping with the restaurant's standard.

Food was great! It was very interesting to watch the work at the counter. Staff was top notch. Gladly again. Crab pasta was very good. Best walk!

One of my favourite restaurants in Hamburg - it has a great aesthetic and contemporary style which feels both relaxing and special enough for an occasion. The staff are the loveliest and happy to give recommendations and chat everything through with you. I had a wonderful meal here, amazing produce and ingredients, experimental cooking and the stickiest, tastiest tart with vanilla chantilly cream for dessert that I can't stop thinking about! Loved it and will go again.

The food, including the meat option, was really good in terms of craftsmanship, taste and appearance. In particular, the dipping sauce for the artiahock was exceptionally good. The only criticism here is that I still had a little sand in the intestines of the bamboo mussels. Ambiance is more for staying for a short time, because the chairs are uncomfortable and the atmosphere itself is more reminiscent of Dean & David in a train station. The service was actually the most disappointing thing about the whole evening. Always just polite enough not to be unfriendly, but warm and enthusiastic is something else. We had 2 bottles of wine for the two of us on a Saturday and 4 times I was left stranded for 5 minutes. Then don't offer bottle service if you're overwhelmed. All in all it was okay and the food is really good.
