The dishes are great and therefore one of the top addresses in Hamburg. Absolutely a scene in the heart of Hamburg.

Always happy to go there. Delicious. I've been eating there for almost 20 years. I also drive 40km from Segeberg there. Fish platter and especially grilled sepia is a dream.

Food was delicious, but I was shocked to see they cook both fish and seafood on the same place. I am allergic to seafood and shellfish, like many people, and as a general rule, they should be cooked and handled separately. If I had not seen them cooking all together, I could have eaten my fish and ended up in the hospital. So, not really safe and professional. Also, I first paid my fish and then saw them cooking it with seafood. The guy was not very helpful, and only reimbursed me because another customer bought my fish.... come on.

We got a mix plate and a shrimp plate and Grilled Salmon plate. The food was very delicious and all type of fish were the most fresh I have ever had. We come back again and my future suggestion to all.

The fish tasted so fresh and nice. And the fried calamari?! Usually when you bread them, they lose some of their taste but not here. It stayed. Great choice honestly. I recommend going when the weather is nicer because it’s quite cool to be outside. Inside there is not so much space. It was our case, and we were able to enjoy a wonderful night with nice food. Will go back!

It used to be good. The prices have gone down abnormally. For the 5 star restaurant it's ok but not for the fish snack bar.

It took me years to come back to Hamburg and to this tasteful Imbiss, but so so worthy ! Prices have changed a bit, of course, but still a great value for money! Generous portions between 13-20€ I loved my mixed teller ! Btw, I sat inside and even though they were cooking all the time and it didn’t smelled phishy, not for Smokey. Atmosphere is local and with people whose wants to eat good fish.

Fantastically delicious fish & chips. Grilled fish is also great! Schabi is simply a classic. I was there for the first time in 2006 and I eat there every time I'm in Hamburg!

Not everything is perfect here. But whatever. The food gets eight stars from me. That makes up for the small weaknesses. Absolute recommendation. This is where you have to go! Insane shop. Yummy. Fresh. The chef knows what he is doing. Fish are fresh and very tasty. He uses fat sparingly without sacrificing flavor.

We thought it was a fish sandwich kiosk and went there on our way back from our North Sea vacation... The chef then made a special fish kebab with grilled salmon to take away. Very strong. And it also tasted very, very good 👍

Good fish, good price, very kind and heartfelt service. Very good staff and the owner. Their attitude was even better than the food. I got the fish sandwich with Salmon, salad and fries. They put some sauce as well. It was very tasty. Honestly, I was sceptical about going to a fish place at night, near closing time thinking it would be not so fresh however I was very satisfied with my purchase, had no stomach problems afterwards, and the food was delicious. I would come back again and again.

Good food made out of fresh ingredients. Basically the only thing they serve are different variations of fish&chips: one can select any seafood options available on a counter - and they will cook it. They don’t speak English and don’t accept cash. Please note: the location isn’t cheap, the price is actually an average one for Hamburg which is 10-20 eur depending on which fish option one selected. Drinks are quite expensive as well. I’d still say it’s worth visiting if it if on your way.

The portions are plentiful, the fish exquisite, the soufflé potatoes worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant. It's an imbiss with tables on the street, but many restaurants would like to serve such dishes.

Nice fish snack bar in the Schanzenviertel. We had 2 mixed plates and once the salmon. Both came in combination with fried potatoes and a small salad and were freshly prepared. It tasted very good. The only thing that could be criticized is the location right on the street with a lot of traffic and loud car posers.

WAKE UP! Schabi's Fischimbiss was my favorite place to enjoy delicious food for years. I have been a regular for many years and have always appreciated the dishes. But unfortunately a lot has changed in the last few months, so I now avoid the snack bar. The staff has become increasingly unfriendly, which really makes your visit miserable. You just don't feel welcome anymore, and that has a noticeable impact on the atmosphere. It's almost as if the owners and employees have lost interest in their own business. Instead, the service is rather cold and disinterested. In addition, prices are continually rising - to an extent that I find outrageous. Even if the food is still delicious, I'm no longer willing to spend so much money on it only to be served by unfriendly staff. It's a shame, because Schabi's Fischimbiss was a place I enjoyed coming to for a long time. But I probably won't go back in its current form.

I didn't think this justified the generally positive Google reviews. The prices are higher than the menu shown on Google Maps and I would not say it is good value. I had the Fisch und Chips and it was quite dry, served with a very limp salad. A number of the other customers seemed to know the owners and made me rather uncomfortable - one group demanded that I switch tables with them, and another sat directly opposite me staring at me until I left. I wouldn't go again.

Schabi is an absolute insider tip in Hamburg! The food there is simply delicious, especially the fish dishes and shrimps. The preparation was quick and the fish was always fresh and perfectly prepared. However, it is often difficult to get free seats there, which shows how popular the snack bar is. I think this place could be more than just a takeaway because the quality and taste of the food is exceptional. Every time I'm in Hamburg I visit Schabi and it's always a highlight. I can highly recommend this fish snack to everyone – simply delicious!

I was back at Schabis for the first time in ages. Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated. The fish tasted watery and unfortunately wasn't seasoned well. The potato chips are very soft. Although still a simple takeaway, the area where the food is prepared was very unhygienic. My friend ordered food while I was outside. If I had seen the conditions, I would have canceled immediately.

Well, I don't know what to say. Tasty but overcooked fish. Dirty and untidy. Toilet disaster. How crowded they are, they could arrange the space better.

Schanze Urgestein it's delicious I recommend the scampi plate with fried potatoes if you're in the Schanze and come to discover Hamburg you should definitely make a stop here.

I've always been satisfied so far. Unfortunately, I was eating there today and the “cleanliness” of the kitchen really disgusted me. Now I'm sitting at home and all the fish come up and unfortunately I'm busy using the toilet the whole time. I will never eat there again.

Delicious fish & chips in the Schanzenviertel

The same concept for years. Fresh fish (it's not always the same, it's best to ask) with salad and potato chips. Fish itself is great, salad too (pomegranate dressing available at the table), and the chips are okay too. Unfortunately there is no ketchup (for years), only Asian Siracha sauce from a bottle, which I don't quite understand. Friendly employees who make sure to wipe down the tables, etc. even when it's busy.

Do yourself a favour and order the shrimps in the creamy sauce with crispy potatoes. You’ll be dreaming of coming back for more🤤

Best fish in the Schanze... A must when you are in Hamburg

The food was very tasty 😋 My husband and I ordered 2 mixed fish plates, one with fries and one with fried potatoes.

I don't know if we ordered the wrong thing, the chef was having a bad day, or we just have different tastes, but we can't quite understand the good reviews. We were at the Neue Flora theater and came across this snack bar while looking for a fish shop nearby and decided to eat here based on the good reviews. We found the prices very high for the snack bar atmosphere. The fish plates cost between €18 and €20. We chose by far the cheapest dish, fish & chips for €13. Thank God the weather was good because there is no seating inside. Unfortunately the fish had a completely lackluster taste. It tasted like it was completely unseasoned, just like the breading. There were also fried potato slices and some green salad. Unfortunately, the two components couldn't make it work either. It was okay but we won't be back.

It's very tasty here! There are benches outside or inside on a gallery overlooking the kitchen (seats 6).

Simply a highlight for Hamburg. 100% recommendation. Everything is very simple, characteristic and authentic. The staff are very friendly. We were so happy that we discovered the shop by chance and left Hamburg with a great memory, but we will definitely come back 😉

Sitting outside is also a lot of fun. Since I had breakfast not long ago, I asked if half a portion would be possible. A spot that should always be on your list! Completely limited to the bare minimum and best, therefore rather less service and ambience but a great price for very good taste and quality!!

The place itself is quite small & doesn’t look like much from the outside and yet the food here is incredibly mouthwatering and superb value. Had the Mix Teller (mixed seafood plate) for €20. We got 6 fish-fillets plus 1 squid and salad of course. Every fish on the plate was quite tender. The potato chips are also so tasty. Would definitely come back next time. Nice place for a quick bite if you are into seafood.

Leider ist der Lack ab.... Mag wohl auch daran liegen, dass das Konzept inzwischen gewechselt hat und oder der Besitzer. Früher wirklich ein Anlaufpunkt für wirklich gutes Fisch Fast Food, mit fairen Preisen, ist die Schere zwischen Preis und Qualität mittlerweile zu weit auseinander.

Fischimbiss mit richtig gutem Fisch. Leider war am Nachmittag die Auswahl bei unserem Besuch schon eingeschränkt. Trotzdem empfehlenswert, da es sehr lecker war.

Eine gute Location für eine Lunch-Pause

Hier geht man wegen des Essens hin und nicht wegen dem „tollen Service“ und das „tolle Ambiente“. Das Essen ist wie immer eine Bank! Schnell, gut und günstig… Alles in allem ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Wir hatten die Garnelen aus der Pfanne und die Fish and Chips. Für 18,5€ waren es jedoch etwas wenig Garnelen. Die Sauce dazu war aber wirklich super lecker und hatte engenehme, leichte Schärfe. Die Fish and Chips hatten leider nur wenig Remouladensauce, hier konnten wir uns aber mit der Sauce der Garnelen aushelfen.

Wenn ich in der Schanze bin und Fisch essen will führt eigentlich kein Weg vorbei bei Schabi's Fischimbiss. Die Portionen sind sehr großzügig, die Fischauswahl ist groß und die Preise sind auch fair. Ich empfehle den Mix Teller da hat man von allen etwas. Dazu gibt es einen kleinen Salat und knusprige Chips mit einer Remoulade. Falls ihr zu Stoßzeiten kommt solltet ihr Wartezeit mit einberechnen, der Imbiss hat nicht soviele Sitzplätze.

Frisch gut fair und damit einfach gut!

War tatsächlich einmal besser und einer,meiner Lieblingsfischimbisse. Wir haben 3 verschiedene Gerichte bestellt, einmal war der Fisch zu lange gebraten und bei mir überhaupt nicht gewürzt.

Der Lachs war viel zu trocken und zu ölig. Der Salat war ölig und die Kartoffeln auch. Ich werde dort nicht noch einmal essen.

Sehr, sehr guter Fisch. Leider jedoch wenig Sitzmöglichkeiten, deswegen muss man manchmal Wartezeit draußen einplanen. Ich empfehle den Mix-Teller.

Nice place for a quick bite if you are into seafood. We ordered the Mix Teller and the portion size was quite big considering it's 20euros. The fish and squid were quite tender, except for the salmon which was on the dry side.
