Really well cooked and presented fish. We had the scholle and it was cooked to perfection. Don't be fooled by the cafe/takeaway at the front - restaurant is nice and casual - this is a gem and far less expensive than the tourist venues around the Hauptbahnhoff. Highly recommended.

En riktig pärla! När man kommer in kan man beställa mat över disk och sitta på träbänkar, men det finns även bordsservering. Vi valde det senare. Vi tog en mycket god öl och fiskfrikadeller som var mycket goda. Remouladsåsen var himmelsk! Vi återkommer gärna till denna fina restaurang.

Aggressive service, bland and tasteless fish and chips

Best fish and chips in Hamburg. Fresh

I didn't feel welcome here. To sit outside, you have to grab cutlery from one of the tables in the building. In my opinion, the portion of fish & chips was far too expensive at €12. The specially ordered mayonnaise, which was forgotten at the first attempt, had already dried out in some places. I also personally don't like it when chefs eat directly from the pan with their fingers and then immediately touch the food for the guests with the same hand, even if they are wearing gloves.

Excellent fried fish, especially delicious with potato salad and the mashed potatoes are wonderful! Wine list is okay. At the front you can get smaller "snack" portions in self-service at the counter - do that! Price-performance is better here in my opinion, everything is easily €5-8 cheaper with slightly smaller portions. When you sit at the back of the restaurant For the two of us, we dropped €60 for a bottle of water, a glass of wine and two main courses.

From the street with a bar stool and a board at the window as a dining table, you can't imagine that behind it there is a large, spacious dining room with tables with a variety of seats. Lots of tables for two on the back wall. Toilet one floor higher, very clean and hygienic. Service when ordering is quick, very friendly and can give good recommendations. Food, golden perch fillet with tartar sauce (extra price), potato salad and the legendary Fassbrause. Quality and quantity, service and friendliness don't seem to have changed since my first visit (albeit on Steinstr. back then). Unfortunately I can only give it 5 stars. 10 would be appropriate.

We used to love eating there, especially fish n chips. But the fries are really no longer convincing at all, and even with fish rolls the bread is by no means crispy and therefore everything is mushy. Not ours anymore.

Un sitio de pescado correcto, muy variado (la platija y la gallineta nórdica estaban buenas), con opciones para probar los platos típicos (el Labskaus está bueno y es muy ortodoxo; el Pannfisch lo hacen con la salsa de mostaza muy suave). Vale la pena por las quisquillas grises, de las más frescas que hemos comido en Hamburgo. No está mal de precio, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que está en plena plaza del Ayuntamiento.

The food is really great, but the service is catastrophic. The lady at the food counter is unfriendly and doesn't even look you in the face. You don't get any answers to questions. A real shame as the fish and chips are good.

I went for fish and chips on a Wednesday around 6 p.m. No waiting time, unfortunately, because then the fish and chips would probably have been freshly fried. So it was bad canteen level. Leaky fries and soft batter around the fish. You get this better at the jetties. It's a shame, I probably won't come back.

The order was deliberately intended to be misunderstood so that the more expensive one could be sold. When asked, a poor explanation was given. The place is very loud and often crowded, so sometimes it's only ok clean. But the fish tastes fresh and delicious.

The interior design is nice, the prices are affordable, we loved our food, the salmon was very good. The staff was very sweet and caring. I saw a clean toilet here for the first time in Germany.

The food is great, but today one of the employees treated my mother and me very unkindly. We were about to order and she almost shouted at us that we weren't allowed to sit at a table with a sofa because it was for 4. Argument is self-evident but there are better ways to say it, with kindness.

Seems to be a very famous seafood restaurant in Hamburg. There were alot of people going in and out of the restaurant and when we were done, there was a long queue waiting to be seated. Food: I had seafood soup and it had so much seafood. It was fresh and delicious I enjoyed my lunch here. Service: Great service. The waitress was very friendly and they automatically give coloring pencils and paper to every kid to keep them entertained. They also gave our child a lollipop after the meal but first asked us if it was ok to give the candy. These little gestures mean alot to parents like us. Atmosphere: Alot of tables inside but there were more people wanting to sit. If you use the toilet upstairs, be ready with a coin for the lady by the toilets.. Highly recommended in Hamburg.

I like the (small) Fish Soup which has plenty of fish in it. I take it from thr bistro/imbiss at self service, but you can habe it seated and served. Service is basic but you het what you need.

After a year I have to update my review. The food is very oily , fries are dark because of using obviously an old oil . The place is very tourist .

Ordered the redfish. The batter wasn’t thin but tasted nice. In fact the fries had a similar taste. I didn’t really like the redfish honestly but I think a different fish type might have tasted better. Service was excellent and the restaurant part was great. One confusing thing for foreigners is there is actually a more affordable menu at the cafe in front (same shop) on the right. It offered fish and chips at EUR12. Seating is limited there though.

As we were in Hamburg, we knew we wanted fish for lunch so this place looked ideal. The food was pretty tasty (fish soup and the mustard fish). Unfortunately the service seemed cold and the set up of the restaurant is kinda odd - there is the restaurant area where you can sit in and dine, and there is the front area where sandwiches are presented in a fridge for takeaway. The restaurant side doesn’t offer any of the sandwiches on its menu, however, if you go to the front end to order there, you are reminded that you cannot eat the sandwich in the restaurant and its take away only. This is weird as for a fish restaurant and a city that’s famous for fischbrotchen, I would expect to see sandwiches on the main menu. It’s all one business so at least offer us the option to buy from the front end and eat in the restaurant with the other dishes we ordered. Finally, the waiter asked for a tip at the end of our experience. He never checked in with us once or did anything above the bare minimum so it wasn’t justified, and came across as rude.

I was visiting friends in Hamburg and wanted a good fish restaurant. Daniel Wischer was an absolute hit. As soon as you walk in you notice the cozy atmosphere. This natural brick with the slight industrial flair was just right. The service was attentive and also fulfilled special requests. The food itself was absolutely delicious, I had pollack fillet with rosemary potatoes and the house-made chili mayo dip. The portion was more than enough, 4 pieces of fillet, plus a whole bowl of rosemary potatoes. The price-performance ratio was very good for this excellent fish. The next time I'm in Hamburg I'll definitely stop by again.

The best fish and chips in Hamburg!

The waiter was definitely discriminating against Asian faces, which I understood since I sat in the restaurant for over an hour and didn't see a single Asian face. We waited for a long time and no one ordered us, we tried to ask and didn't get a polite answer, it's hard for me to imagine that in such a modern time something like this could happen.

The worst service I‘ve ever had in Germany. The cashier woman was extremely rude and disrespectful, laughing on our face and discriminating my party for asking a question. As if it couldn’t get worse, we saw the same cashier picking her nose while she walked through the kitchen.

Very good fish restaurant. Seems like it is an old name opened a second spot. Young and lovely staff, friendly but quick. The fish doesn't smell, so it seems fresh. They have tasty beer and the potatoes were fried on spot. All in all we were very positively surprised. Highly recommend! If you like fish, this is the place to go in the centre of the city.

Great fish soup. Came here twice and got the same experience. Definitely the service is sub par for such a location... Payment clerk clearly lacks training, no greeting and attitude of doing the customer a favor. All assembly kitchen staff working with food without hair cover.

Long-established, I've been there with my grandma. Is a must for every hamburger. The fish is bliss, we also love the potato salad and the tastiest mashed potatoes there. In addition, there is always cucumber salad, mmmh... and finally hamburger grits, the Fassbrause is also a must. Bon appetit

This place in Hamburg is pretty popular. Its spot near the Rathaus draws a lot of tourists, but plenty of locals love it too. The seafood is super fresh and tasty, with the fish soup being a highlight. Portions are big, and the prices are fair. The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome. The back of the restaurant is a bit dark, but the seating up front is really nice. If you’re in Hamburg for a short trip, definitely give it a try .

The food looked good, but the fish and chips were completely overpriced and unfortunately the fish and chips were old and dried out like at Nordsees Ablage :(. Remoulade tasted good. It's a shame that such leftovers are sold instead of being cooked fresh. I can't recommend it for the money. The dark-skinned waitress was also extremely unfriendly to another customer, so much so that I could even hear it outside.

Fish & Chips never disappoints here. Is very good for a quick snack. Super crispy fries and fish also tastes very fresh and juicy. Plus some tartar sauce. The portion is large and you will definitely be full. Small minus: if you want to wash your hands upstairs, you feel like you have to pay for it because someone is sitting in front of the toilet. A bit of a shame for a restaurant business. Service at the counter is quick. Food is served hot. Would come back here again and again for fish and chips. Found the bread for the fish rolls to be a bit too dry.

Vegan review. I could only have the chips and then only with ketchup. Vegan fish alternatives are available and would be a great addition to this restaurant. FYI - My fish eating friends bloody loved it.

Fish soup was very good. Service rather mediocre. It's like being on the train platform. Given the sales, you should expect a gluten-free bread alternative. Unfortunately there wasn't...

The fish dishes are great, the service is fast and friendly. A good spot for a quick lunch in the center of Hamburg. Not only for tourists as you will see with the crowd in this restaurant. You will always see locals, especially older German pensionists who come here for lunch. The restaurant has a dine-in street food part and a normal restaurant part further in the back. Food is largely the same.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Eine übersichtliche Speisekarte, die keine Wünsche übrig lässt. Vorzügliche Küche und eine tolle Service Crew. Ein ganz tolles Lob an die junge Dame, die an unserem Tisch serviert hat. Donja, du warst einfach nur hinreißend "klasse". Wir empfehlen euch gerne weiter!

Cool restaurant near the town hall. Absolutely the best fish sandwiches in all of Hamburg. The whole thing is a bit expensive, but it's fresh and good.

Great, price and performance were ok. Nice service. Only the toilet wasn't wiped after use. Then why should you pay for it? Either way, I don't understand why you should pay for a human one!!

Delicious herring, good service and very nice location

Very nice service, food was brought to the table very quickly and the fried fish plate was really mega, was a really big portion and tasted really delicious!

We were lucky enough to get one of the few seats outside, the fish & chips were fresh and the prawns were fried to perfection. The only small criticism is that if you want to eat outside, you first have to look for cutlery etc. together. Self-service is recommended in the front area; a note here would be helpful, especially for older guests.

Caution ! Unfriendly tourist trap... We were just in the bistro area. The gold perch portion without anything for €14 was a joke. It's a shame that all the old values ​​and the former concept have now been thrown overboard. The other branch is cheaper, better, fairer and friendlier. The restaurant was a tip from my colleague. And lo and behold - super delicious food! We were lucky and got a table. I would have liked to order everything, but I limited myself to the fish plate. It was also very sufficient, I almost burst. The service was friendly and nice, but everything seemed very hectic, so you had the feeling that you had to leave quickly. But we didn't let that bother us. Insider tip in HH!

The food tastes delicious, but the portion size is disproportionate to the prices. We sat outside and the service was excellent. The order was prepared quickly. It was very nice to have a baby area in the bathroom.

Despite the waiting time, the queue was worth it! The fish was tender and juicy, the fries were crispy and flavorful. It would be great if more seating was available, but overall the food was great.
