We were here several times at longer intervals. I can highly recommend the food! It tastes like my grandmother's, in modern German: pure soul food. The first bite of the potato salad puts a smile on my face!

We went on a non-peak weekday, I had no trouble finding a seat, the food was served quickly. The place is nice, the employees are attentive, there is a children's menu and they also bring painting, so the attention is high and they are kind. The food is delicious and sufficient. You should definitely make time for meals every day.

I didn't drink fish soup =) but I tried grilled salmon. Very close to the square. The ambiance of the place was nice. We tasted our seafood at the bistro.

Great place to try the fish bread. The employees are very friendly and prices are yood. Beware that you can't have the fish bread in the actual restaurant, only in the area by the entrance. There you can also try different fried fish and sides.

Food was good, and the staff were polite and nice, which I didn't like because you have to pay to use the toilet if you want...

The food was nothing special. There was a lack of spice in various things. The price-performance ratio was fair. The portions were large. Something small, fresh (parsley or some coleslaw perhaps) would be nice on the side of the plate. Regarding the staff: Several employees argued throughout our stay. We were still treated relatively friendly, but a little more communication would have been appropriate. For example, we didn't know that if you order your food at the counter, you can't eat it in the back of the restaurant but only in the front. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.

Nach langer Zeit wollte ich mir heute mal wieder etwas Fisch gönnen und das Essen ist hier ja eigentlich auch lecker. Was mir heute passiert ist verschlägt einem aber glatt die Sprache. Gut das ich mit dem Essen fertig war. Ich hatte mir dazu einen schönen Riesling bestellt und auch schon fast ausgetrunken. Ich wollte gerade mein Glas ansetzen und dann sah ich gerade noch rechtzeitig 2 Kakerlaken im Weinglas. Meiner Tischnachbarin gezeigt und den Kellner gerufen . Der meinte als er das Glas vollgemacht hätte wäre nichts drin geschwommen. Zeigte nach oben auf die Lüftungsrohre ... Keine Entschuldigung und ein neues Glas Wein wollte ich nicht . Ich werde das wohl dem Gesundheitsamt melden müssen. Es schüttelt mich immer noch ....

Regarding the ambience: due to the rents in the city center, you can understand it, but the restaurant is far too cramped. This also makes it a little louder.

A visit to the old traditional fish restaurant Daniel Wischer is simply part of it. Quaint with old pictures from back in the day, when a portion of fish only cost a few pfennigs, go there and have a delicious meal while enjoying Fassbrause, just great. We were thrilled. The service was very good and attentive, we will definitely come back 😊

I've traveled to about 15 countries and eaten in all sorts of restaurants, but I've never had such an absurd and disrespectful experience. On January 23rd at 2:20 p.m., after we paid the bill by card, the waitress (who had her hair tied back) literally threw the receipt on the table. She completely shocked us with angry looks and an aggressive attitude. The reason for this behavior could either be that we didn't tip or it was pure discrimination. We only had fish soup (made from seafood and mackerel – fish soup with mackerel? Totally tasteless!) and tap water. Additionally, they charged €2.80 for a glass of water that clearly came from the tap. I asked to speak to the manager or someone in charge but was told there was no one in charge today. If you don't manage your employees, such behavior will only embarrass you in the center of Hamburg. I looked at the general reviews and realized we weren't the only ones; This team has apparently often attracted negative attention. What right do you have to treat your customers – nay, people in general – like this? I absolutely cannot recommend this place. Whatever you do, don't go and stay away!

Cool restaurant 😂 Gastro & SB. They came just in time. Then it was packed. Food is made fresh. It's very good. Large selection, prices are okay. Service very friendly, on both sides. We decided on self-service, but still got space. I can highly recommend it. When I'm back, I'll come back 😍

So the food is delicious, as I (75) have known it since my childhood. Plus the traditional barrel shower. Prices appropriate for the location. Ambience funny and rustic. Service: well, a mistake when paying, which could have been expensive for me, was corrected without apology. I didn't like that at all.

We ordered fried fish platters with fried potatoes twice and were disappointed with what we got. The breading on the fish was very greasy. The fried potatoes had no taste and were also greasy. You should take more time when preparing the food. Price/performance doesn't match. We've eaten better at Wischer's. The service was very nice and accommodating.

I love this establishment. If you are looking for a quick and tasty place to eat, this is the place for you. Fish and potatoes are quickly prepared here. I like to eat on the terrace with a view of the Rathaus in the summer.

I'm from Hamburg and have always been there about twice a month for lunch when things have to be done quickly. There are 2 areas, at the front a snack style without service and at the back, a larger restaurant-like area. Snack quality okay but way too expensive, fries mostly small and squishy. Staff often disinterested and disinterested. The rear area is a little nicer but significantly more expensive. There are better shops in the area for the money, but the tourists seem to be enthusiastic.

The food was excellent. Fried fish plate and barrel shower, classics. The staff was super nice and the dog was allowed in and was even petted afterwards. One star deducted for the ambience because it is very narrow. Otherwise nothing to complain about.

When we are in Hamburg, it is always our first stop for delicious fried fish! Nice, courteous service and great quality of the food, keep it up 👍 We'll be happy to come back

The prices are relatively affordable (the takeaway section is more affordable) and the flavors were very good. We tried the calamari and fish plate and liked them very much.

Fish soup was one of the best soups I've ever had; We went two days in a row and started the day by drinking fish soup. It contained fish, shrimp, squid, clams. It was truly magnificent. I also recommend you to eat Hamburg style Pannfisch and potato salad. The grilled shrimp was also cooked very well, I think you should try that too. Also, their baguette bread is amazing.

Fish is always possible! Since I was a child at Daniel Wischer's - everything here is delicious, including Fassbrause. A good start into the new year!

The fish soup at Daniel Witcher in Hamburg is absolutely amazing! 🐟 The taste was truly amazing and a must-try taste. Fish and Chips is also just right, the portion is quite large, you can easily share it with two people. 🍟✨ If you love seafood, this place is definitely worth a visit!

I still think back wistfully to the shop on Spitaler Straße. Luckily the original still exists. The new shop on the Rathausmarkt has become a permanent destination for me when I attend events on the Rathausmarkt or go for a stroll in Hamburg. The modernized recipes at fair prices and the new barrel brew fully meet the expectations of a lifelong regular customer. If fish and chips were served with mushy peas and gravy and gravy, everything would be even more perfect! Thank you for all the love you give!

Daniel Wischer (fish specialties) restaurant is located on Große Johannisstrasse in Hamburg. Service was uncomplicated and friendly, we got a seat without a reservation. It was clean and toilets are available upstairs. The food came quickly and was delicious. I can recommend the pan fish with rosemary potatoes and mustard sauce. Price/performance top. We were tourists in Hamburg for a few days, and of course eating fish was part of it for us. First at the town hall square (very nice and very good, prices for fresh fish absolutely okay, quality very good! The next day in the fast food restaurant, the ambience was old but there was also great quality and also highly recommended. If you're in Hamburg is a MUST!

The service was good although a little hasty, and unfortunately I found the way in which the tip was asked for when paying the bill a bit insistent. I understand that it's a matter of different habits but I would much prefer to have the tip already calculated as a percentage and just pay. That said, very good food, really, worth a visit. High prices, small portions. Positive experience overall.

Absolutely snotty service, there were three of us and we wanted a specific table, which was free. But not possible. I wanted to order a fish sandwich and eat it at the table. Not possible either. Insanely bad service. Then we left again. We were there the day before. Everything was fine there.

If you're looking for a really decent fish restaurant in the center of HH and don't mind crowds, this is the place for you! The many extremely good reviews distort expectations and ultimately reduce the consistently good performance in the middle of the hustle and bustle of HH with many tourists and guests from the surrounding offices/stores. So it's understandable that the seating in the relatively small restaurant is a bit cramped. But the cuisine is good, especially the fish soup. The portions are again quite manageable, e.g. pan fish = 2 pieces of fish, served on a small (!) plate. Price-enjoyment ratio for HH melting pots is okay. The service is usually quite quick and attentive. The toilets are on the 1st floor, so not easily accessible for some people. Conclusion, try it out, according to the motto: Eat fish, then you stay healthy & fresh ;)

Wanted to try Labskaus as my friends who are from Hamburg said it was a must try. O M G! Amazing. The fish soup was also incredible could eat that everyday! My husband had the 3 fried fish platter and said it was also delicious! Service was great and I can't wait to come back for more soup!

We were very disappointed. The pan fish was dry, the rösti tasted like frozen and fatty. The fried potatoes were good. Unfortunately there were only 200ml drinks apart from water and beer. The waitresses were fake friendly. However, what shocked, touched and angered us the most was something else. An older, unkempt gentleman who didn't smell very good came into the restaurant. First he was seated at a table. When the gentleman looked at the menu for a while and wanted to order, one of the waitresses asked him to leave because he didn't smell good. Surely there would have been another option.

Solid fish restaurant with quick service

We wanted to eat comfortably and got a table straight away. The service was very friendly. The food was brought quickly. It looked good and tasted good. When I was in the toilet and I looked into the kitchen, I was horrified. If I had seen the condition of the kitchen before ordering, I would have left immediately. Unfortunately, the nasty surprise came later. We both got stomach cramps and couldn't tolerate the food. Our health was very bad. I would never eat in this restaurant again. I would like the health department to check things here too.

A good place with two ordering options: take-out and on-site. There is a takeaway counter where you can choose a dish. The preparation is quick and the prices are cheaper than in the restaurant. Therefore, I recommend this option if someone wants to eat something quickly. The portions in the restaurant are large and filling. The prices are above average.

Ambience was nice, service was very nice. The food didn't blow us away. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a meal that would make us say, "Wow, we haven't eaten something so delicious in a long time." We found the food far too expensive for the little fish we had. Potato salad was no better than at home, fried potatoes were ok. I don't understand the hype, but I don't have to. Fortunately, tastes are different.

I always have a bit of a teary eye here, I know DW from the 70s, where you paid 8 or 9 DM for the golden perch fillet with potato salad. Different times now and DW has of course moved with the times. But: the classics are still there and the ambience is of course chic and the service is (still) on point. In terms of price, of course, it's now in a different league, but it's always worth a visit.

Premier repas à Hambourg et belle découverte de la cuisine hambourgeoise. Poisson à gogo. Nous avons goûté les harengs. Ils étaient excellents et hyper frais. Les plats sont très copieux, nous n’avions faim pour tester les desserts. Service efficace et sympathique. Excellent rapport qualité-prix.

Ich bin sonst sehr gerne und oft hier gewesen. Leider wurde ich von der Bedienung ohne Grund dermassen unfreundlich und respektlos behandelt. Vor allen Gäste wurde lautstark geschrien. Sowas ist mir noch nie passiert.

We got the fish platter and it was okay... Nothing outstanding. The service wasn't great. It was really hard to get their attention and they seemed to avoid us because we could not speak german, even though we were actually being polite and just pointed to stuff on the menu. She forgot the salad we ordered too. There is also a weird setup where they guilt you into "voluntarily" paying for the toilet, even though it's part of the restaurant. The location is good if you're waiting for a tour outside the townhall... But that's about it.
