I made a reservation and visited. Because it was Friday evening, there were many customers. I ordered steak and shrimp and it was very delicious. You have to pay extra for the sauce. The desserts are delicious, the food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly.

We were eating in a larger group. First of all: every dish was served according to the order and nothing was swapped. The waiting time was relatively short. Personally, I had Obazda with pretzel as a starter which was homemade and very tasty. The main course was schnitzel, which the majority of the group also had. It was a decent homemade schnitzel but certainly not worth over 20 euros. The breading was not souffled like you would expect from a Wienerschnitzel. You can do the same thing at home! In addition, the fries on the side weren't really crispy, which is a shame. When we asked the service whether the optional potato salad was prepared with mayonnaise or the classic Austrian style with vinegar, the wrong information was given. It was Austrian but the service called it mayonnaise. Bad information, otherwise I would have ordered this. Overall OK. But I don't have to have it again.

Service is reasonably good, but nothing more. For dinner we had a snack (veal sausages and Obazda) - it was at best supermarket quality, including the pretzels. This tasted like it came from the baked goods shelf in the discount store. In addition, when we arrived, there were reserved signs on virtually all of the tables, even though all of the tables were still free for at least 2 hours. So we almost left right away. Had a great evening at the new Hofbräu am Johannistor. Mutzbraten super tender, knuckle juicy and crispy. Beer is great anyway. Waiting times reasonable. Staff friendly and quick.

Attention, the reviews also include those from the previous steakhouse! Old location, new concept, not very successful. We spontaneously went to the Hofbräu and wanted to grab a bite to eat. The tables outside were all empty, and they all had a reserved sign at 4 in the afternoon, even though the reservation was only valid in the evening. It's not inviting and we wanted to leave straight away. Next we were informed that there was nothing to eat at the moment, no hot food. Another way to sell it better is to have a typical Bavarian snack instead. I decided on a small portion of Obazda with pretzel. And then, people, 8.50 euros for a supermarket pretzel with a manageable portion of ready-made cheese, no thanks. Pretzel dry, Obazda tasteless. Never again. The service was nice, but seemed to have little experience.

Many thanks to the team at Hofbräuhaus Jena! So far I haven't been able to find anything on the menu that wasn't tasty! Today we had the Resche pork knuckle, very tender meat, nice crust. The four of us had a great evening! The service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. We all found the food really tasty and the price was right. Depending on the dish, the portions aren't that big, but that's good if you want to eat an appetizer and/or dessert. I was definitely full after my main course and dessert. Even as a vegetarian or vegan you have a good selection of dishes. We'd love to come back!

Great food and pleasant ambience in the new Hofbräu am Johannistor. After, for me, the negative development in the city center - especially in view of the rarity of local inns/restaurants - this is an absolute necessity and a joy at the same time.

Tonight, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at around 8:45 p.m. we took a seat in the well-attended beer garden (right next to the main entrance). Every minute up to 4 different service staff appeared in the beer garden or looked out the door. There was neither a greeting nor our order taken. We were very happy to be able to test the new Hofbräuhaus in Jena after our summer vacation in Bavaria. After about 20 minutes, we asked a waiter if we could order, but he simply pointed out that the kitchen closed at 9 p.m. No drinks were offered. Too bad!

Burger for 20€ and then you get an old, flaky bun that has been swollen with water and has been baked again. That's quite a disgrace.

Die Steaks waren sehr gut und auf dem Punkt gegart. Die Beilagen Ofenkartoffel mit Saurer Sahne war nicht so der Knaller, aber es ging. (War nicht wirklich warm) Die Toiletten waren sauber aber nichts für geruchsempfindliche Menschen. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich.

Very nice restaurant, pleasant atmosphere. Without a reservation you definitely won't get a place on the weekends. Due to its size, it is very cramped with small tables in some corners. (2 person table) Service was great, nice and quick. You have to like the menu, which can be accessed digitally with your cell phone. I don't normally take my cell phone with me to a romantic meal. (I didn't ask for a real card) Ordered starters for 2 people, beautifully prepared, very tasty. It was quite a treat for the palate. Main course rib-eye steak with garlic bread and pan-fried Duroc schnitzel. So the “Pfannenschnitzel” looked like it would never have seen a pan, was far too dry and blandly seasoned. Ordered medium rib eye, it wasn't fried to perfection. Essentially English, so more raw than medium. Beautiful roasted aromas, completely absent. Meat was moderately tough. Very firm to the bite, but juicy. Impossible to cut with a “normal” knife. Not really anything special in terms of taste. For a “steakhouse” I definitely expect something better for this price. The selection of steaks wasn't great either, there are many special cuts, types etc but three types...hm. In any case, you can buy the meat from the butcher around the corner and it doesn't taste any worse. After all the top reviews I'm a little confused, but maybe it was one of the worse days. Conclusion: you can visit but you won't miss anything. Price performance, not appropriate for me.

I haven't been there for a while and was really looking forward to the steakhouse burger and then... no more salad with it (and the dressing was always really good), other, perfectly normal, unfortunately quite dry fries and the burger itself is just mediocre of the taste. Why do you have to change such a great dish so much? Two stars less for the taste and also one star deducted for the high price. It's a shame, but that's why I don't go to the steakhouse anymore.

The overall impression of the steakhouse in Jena was good. The service was very friendly and attentive, high praise for that. The best part of the meal was the dessert, rarely have I had such a good chocolate cake. The steak itself was very tender and tasted good. Now it comes to the but. Unfortunately, the roasted flavors of our 700g ribeye were missing; it was more cooked than seared. I've never had that in a steakhouse before. The tartare was of good quality, with a bit of a taste of its own, but bread was provided free of charge. Overall, it was very comfortable and clean and the flaming of the steak was something to look at, even if the flaming didn't do anything to seal the surface.

This is the best service you can get in Jena. The meat is seared exactly as desired, the spices and amount of salt match the dish perfectly. If you want to enjoy high-quality food, especially high-quality meat, go here. Wine recommendations are professional and tailored to the wishes of the guests.

War sehr, sehr lecker! Wir sind in Jena nur 3 Tage geblieben und hier hier zweimal gekommen. Super cooles Lokal!

Wir waren mit den Kindern (5 und 8 Jahre) hier essen. Wir haben gleich für die Kinder Stifte und Blätter bekommen, Getränke kamen auch schnell und wir wurden sehr freundlich und auch geduldig (Kindern können sich manchmal schlecht entscheiden) beraten. Das Essen war lecker und auch wie bestellt, die Portionen waren wirklich ordentlich und das Fleisch 🥰✨. Es war wirklich ein angenehmes rundum Paket. Jeden Cent wert...

das am besten gebrate Filetsteak das ich in letzter Zeit gegessen habe hab Surf and Turf bestellt, wenn die Garnelen mit etwas mehr Knobi gebaten würden, wären sie meiner Meinung nach perfekt

Essen nicht schlecht aber Gasthaus ungeheizt, wir waren danach völlig durchgefroren. Im Eingangsbereich riecht es nach offenem Abwasser Kanal. Bei den Preisen völlig unakzeptabel.

Die Fleischqualität ist super auch die Auswahl ist gut. Der Service passt und ist auf Zack. Bei den Beilagen und Salaten könnte es mehr Auswahl geben

Wir hatten nicht gebucht und bekamen einenTisch in der oberen Etage. Die Speisekarte war über das Handy einzusehen. Das Steak war perfekt Medium rear gebraten, der Burger saftig und der Salat knackig. Und endlich mal ein sehr guter Service. Rundherum passt alles in diesem Restaurant. Ich kann es nur weiterempfehlen.

Als Außendienstmitarbeiter besuche ich täglich die verschiedensten Gaststätten und so wie ich heute in diesem Steakhaus behandelt wurde, habe ich in meinem Leben noch nicht erlebt. Ich betrat das Restaurant und wurde von einer älteren Dame unfreundlich in Empfang genommen. Sie begrüßte mich sofort mit zwei Fragen: "nur eine Person?" und "sind Sie geimpft?", jedoch ohne zuvor "Hallo" zu sagen. Nach Beantwortung der Fragen, wurde ich an eine jüngere Kellnerin übergeben mit dem Stichwort "Hochtisch". Diese begleitete mich zu einem Platz, der mir Verkauft wurde mit "der Hochtisch mit Blick in die offene Küche"... ein Einzeltisch zwischen Treppe und Pfeilern mit Blick in die Küche plus Geruch und Krach, einfach unglaublich. Da bat ich, ob ich nicht einen angenehmeren Platz bekommen könnte, hier wären ja ziemlich viele unbesetzt, daraufhin kam die Antwort, dass ich als Einzelperson leider nicht an einem 4er Tisch sitzen könne... das wäre wohl unmöglich. Dann bekam ich Anweisungen wie, mich in die Luca app einzuchecken und mir die Speisekarte im Internet anzuschauen. Ich beschloss das Restaurant zu verlassen und gab der älteren Dame mein Feedback, dass sie mit Lachen erwiderte und unfreundlich "Tschüss" hinterher rief.

Wer ein saftiges, medium gebratenes und fettfreies Rinderfilet mit groben Salz und Pfeffer in einem absolut schicken Restaurant essen möchte, muss hier her kommen. Das Ambiente ist rustikal, aber gleichzeitig auch elegant. Die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich. Mein Mann und ich essen hier alle 3-4 Monate, immer das medium gebratene Rinderfilet und können es zu 100% empfehlen.

Zum Hochzeitstag zufällig in der Stadt entdeckt und spontan noch mit etwas Glück einen Tisch bekommen. Reservieren macht auf alle Fälle Sinn! Der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, dabei aber keinesfalls aufdringlich. Fragen zur Speisekarte wurden kompetent beantwortet. Das Essen war qualitativ sehr gut, das Fleisch top und auf den Punkt gegart und zusammen mit den Beilagen preislich angemessen. Zu den Beilagen: Angenehm empfanden wir, dass zum Steak "nur" gemischter Salat gereicht wird und man sich für geringen Aufpreis weitere Beilagen nach Wahl dazu bestellen kann. So hat jeder etwas Individualität, ohne dass die Speisekarte unnötig aufgebläht wird. Zum Ambiente: Wir konnten im hinteren Außenbereich an der efeubewachsenen Stadtmauer sitzen. Abgeschirmt vom größten Lärm und windgeschützt. Sehr schön. Vielen Dank und gerne wieder!

Innen ist es ein sehr schönes Lokal mit einem tollen Charme und Steakhouse Atmosphäre. Die Bedienungen sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Offene Küche, man kann sehen, wie alles gekocht, gegrillt wird. Die Steaks waren sehr, sehr lecker. Ebenso die Beilagen. Immer wieder sehr gerne.

Das essen was wir bestellt hatten war heiß gut zubereitet und lecker .Das Burgerfleisch war nach Wunsch gegrillt. Beilagen waren frisch und ausreichend.

But everything else like the “Tataki” or the “Steakhouse Burger” are soo good, too! Staff is beyond friendly and tries to read you wishes from your eyes! Das Restaurant bietet für 100 Personen Platz. Allerdings sollte man am Wochenende oder bei Platzbedarf für Gruppen größer 6 Personen , Plätze reservieren. Das Steak war sehr gut .Die Bedienungen freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Preise für die angebotenen Speisen und Getränke ok.
