Café Stilbruch in Jena

Wir waren bei unserem Wochenendbesuch in Jena genau 4x hier essen, weil es so gut war! Besonders die Süppchen waren toll. Großzügige Portionen, gute Preise, sehr freundliches Personal und generell ein stilvoller Ort.

We spontaneously stopped by for breakfast today and were served very nicely by Jan. Very friendly, very caring and quick. Our dog companion was also looked after excellently. Thank you very much :))

In my opinion, Cafe Stilbruch is always worth a visit. The waitresses are always friendly and the atmosphere is homely and comfortable. A lot of work was done with wood and the tables are spread over several floors. The food is very tasty and fresh, and the plates are generously filled. The breakfast is also great here and my son likes the crepes. We can also recommend the morning grouch and the Californian salad.

Super cool café pub and restaurant

I love the basmati dishes in a twist of style. This was the 3rd time I've eaten there and have never been disappointed. The service was incredibly friendly and was able to spontaneously do something for me. I was really satisfied!

The soup was simply delicious, the staff was nice and attentive.

We had breakfast with the family on our wedding day and it was fantastic. The food was, as always, delicious and without exception all the staff were very friendly and attentive. No matter what we asked for, from an empty champagne glass to more rolls to a cleaning cloth for a small mishap, everything was brought to us promptly and with a smile. We all had a wonderful time and would like to thank the team and management from the bottom of our hearts.

You can have an excellent breakfast there. Wonderful offer. There are also great dishes in the evening.

Very cozy cafe, I was there for lunch a few days ago. The food was great, the portions were very generous (almost too much) and the waiters were very nice. Absolutely acceptable in terms of price-performance ratio. I'd love to come back. Absolutely recommended.

We made a stopover here in rainy weather. We noticed the cafe the day before and that a lot of people came here. There is a nice atmosphere in the café, although there isn't much space for large groups, but that wasn't a problem. The food was very good and you get a very good portion for the price these days. I had a mushroom pan that was really delicious. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely go again.

The Stilbruch is a student cafe in the center of Jena. The easiest thing to say is: excellent in all respects. :) Even many years later nothing has changed. I still enjoy coming here.

For the high prices, the plate would have to be generously covered with salami, cheese and ham, but unfortunately that was not the case the first and last time there.

A sought-after restaurant, the milk coffee has been a legend for years and the pans are always delicious. I can always recommend it.

I was very satisfied with the food and drinks, and the hospitality was also very friendly. I would like to point out that the flagship of a restaurant is the greeting and one lady was rather annoyed. Very unpleasant! And perhaps a suggestion to reconsider your own attitude towards customers. ;-)

Reservation was very easy and we received very friendly service on site! The food tasted great and the portions are so big that you will definitely be full. And if there is anything left over, you can have it packed up without any problem. The staff was consistently friendly and present. A thoroughly positive experience 🤗

I was there for dinner. I had a cheese plate with grapes and baguette for €17.50. The cheese plate was OK. However, there were only 4 small slices of baguette - not enough for all the cheese and my hunger. The attentive service brought 4 small slices upon request. That was fine so far. An additional €1.80 was then charged when billing. When I asked why that was the case, I was told that I had ordered something extra and that would also have to be charged - seriously? I didn't order an extra glass of wine, just asked for a little more than the limited bread. I will no longer visit this restaurant.

Ich war zum Abendessen dort. Ich hatte eine Käseplatte mit Weintrauben und Baguette zum Preis von 17,50€. Die Käseplatte war in Ordnung. Es gab allerdings nur 4 kleine Baguette-Scheibchen - zu wenig für den vielen Käse und meinen Hunger. Die aufmerksame Bedienung brachte auf Anfrage noch 4 kleine Scheiben. Soweit war das in Ordnung. Bei der Abrechnung wurden dann zusätzlich 1,80€ zusätzlich berechnet. Auf meine Frage warum das denn so wäre, wurde mir geantwortet, dass ich ja etwas zusätzlich bestellt habe und das müsste auch berechnet werden - ernsthaft? Ich habe kein zusätzliches Glas Wein bestellt, sondern nur darum gebeten etwas mehr als das knapp bemessene Brot zu bekommen. Ich werde diese Lokal nicht mehr besuchen. Diese Erfahrung deckt sich mit der anderer Besucher. Fazit: Nur nichts nachbestellen!

Although not far from Jena, yesterday was my first time in this wonderful café. You can come at any time of the day and you are guaranteed to find something that is right for you. Whether it's a big or small breakfast, lunch or in between, everything has been thought of. The staff, committed and very friendly, helped us get places quickly. It is advisable to reserve in advance as places are always in demand. I wish the young team all the best!

Always worth a visit. Large menu with delicious dishes at fair prices (for the quality offered). A service that really deserves the name! The furnishings are a bit unconventional but still very comfortable. However, it is difficult to get a seat at peak times. It is advisable to reserve in advance, but there are usually hardly any tables left, especially for breakfast on the weekend. The only thing that helps is to be there at 9 a.m. and then it will work.

We went to Cafe Stilbruch as a group for lunch. The cafe was quite full and we were initially assigned the wrong table (too small). It took quite a long time until we were served. The menu is very extensive, many dishes rely on fat as a flavor carrier (pan dishes). Most of us were quite happy with the food, especially the smoothie (morning grouch). My salad Stilbruch consisted of lettuce and chicory leaves, cucumber and tomato slices, fried potatoes and a fried egg. I missed a salad dressing that rounds the whole thing off/makes it a salad. So the Stilbruch salad was a bit boring.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in Jena. Very difficult to get a seat without a reservation. The food is also very good. I can highly recommend the homemade goat cheese.

Very cozy, great staff and the menu is absolutely outstanding. We ordered a farmer's breakfast on the day of the visit and it was the best farmer's breakfast I have eaten. It was also very rich. It doesn't get any better. So many thanks to the Mediteran and its employees.

A beautiful café on three floors with an outdoor area, at the beginning of a small pedestrian alley. Very well attended. Large breakfast selection. Good prices. Friendly and quick service. The Sunday breakfast for 2 is highly recommended! The homemade lemonades are also particularly delicious.

It's lovely to sit outside in the summer. The interior is also cozy and invites you to linger. The selection of drinks is very diverse. The service is attentive. Unfortunately, the food hasn't impressed me so far. Unfortunately, the fried dishes known from Café Stilbruch were not convincing in terms of taste.

So far we only knew the outstanding breakfast. It was our first time here for lunch and we were well advised to reserve seats in advance. The taste was really good. I had a beef stir fry and would want to eat it again and again. The delicious sauce flavored with Merlot, delicious.

Even if you don't see it in the restaurant - there are enough seats for groups of 20 to 30 guests upstairs on the 2nd or 3rd floor - just ask! The food is delicious - the menu is varied. I had a Thuringian Rostbrätl with fried potatoes for €21. I was confused by a small bowl of mustard - it's supposed to be put on meat before roasting - but it lacked a bit of flavor. The fried potatoes were definitely fried too spicy - but the onions were tasty and plentiful. The service is careful and very, very attentive. You can eat very well for two people for €50 - provided you order the right thing.

I went there several times during my business trip! It's voluminous and delicious! The menu was in German, so I gave up and asked the staff for recommendations! Both the beef penne and the coconut roux with fruit were delicious! The building was nice and had a great atmosphere!

I had breakfast here today. I was given a very friendly welcome and quickly assigned a seat. The waiter didn't wait long. The cafe and food came quite quickly. I chose 3 scrambled eggs with ham and tomatoes, along with a side salad, wholemeal rolls and butter. It tasted very good and was appetizingly prepared. I also liked the interesting ambience of the restaurant. I'd love to come by again :-).

Hallo Wir waren auf der durchreise nach Dresden vor 2 Tagen. Hatten uns das Gastronomie Kaffee in Jena rausgesucht zum frühstücken. Von aussen sehr schön , von innen echt Rustikal mit guten Speisen Angebot. Bestellten Frühstück für 2 Personen. Die Frühstücksplatte war gut bestückt es fehlte zur Saison Salat Blatt und ein,zwei Tomatenscheiben. Bei dem Preis sollte es doch möglich sein. Es waren dabei 2 kleine weiche Doppelbrötchen, 1 Mehrkorn Brötchen und 2 kleine dunkle Mini Chrosaints. Die Brötchen für 2 Personen zu wenig bei der Beilage Wurst/ Käseplatte. Bestellten noch 2 Doppelbrötchen nach. Als dann die Rechnung kam musste ich erstmal kräftig aufstoßen. *** Wucher*** Für 2 weiche kleine Doppelbrötchen nahm das Gastronomie Unternehmen 5.40 € Also pro Stück 2.70€. ***Eine absolute Frechheit und Abzocke.*** Bei Edeka gibt es aus der SB- Klappe schöne knusprige Doppelbrötchen für 0.40 € das Stück. Einfach enttäuschend. Man sollte dort nix nachbestellen. Schade.

A pity! Unfortunately, the quality of the breakfast and friendliness of the wait staff have steadily declined in recent years. Once THE place for a great breakfast, other restaurants have now caught up or overtaken in terms of creativity and quality. Unfortunately, crepes and the like are only available from midday onwards. The friendliness of the service was also rather average on our last visit. A roll was missing from our large group, but we didn't notice it until some time later. When asked whether this roll could still be brought, the waitress said that she could no longer understand whether a roll was really missing. So she just offered to buy us a roll. A pity! Next year we will look for a different location for our annual meeting.

We sat outside, ate well and were served friendly, quickly and perfectly.

If you're there on time when the store opens, you'll get a spot outside. For us, a break in style is always part of a visit to Jena! Super fast service, excellent and rich breakfast and with the many variations and options for ordering there is definitely something for everyone! Toilets are located in the basement and are therefore not barrier-free. The toilets themselves are very clean and well equipped.

Wir waren spontan mit 2 Kids und einem Kinderwagen zum Brunchen. Es war ein ganz toller Service. Für alle individuellen Anliegen von uns wurde sehr aufmerksam und wirklich freundlich zugewandt eine unkomplizierte Lösung gefunden. Das ist echt selten in Deutschland und ist uns sehr positiv aufgefallen. Das Essen hat gut geschmeckt, wie immer🙂

We treated ourselves to Sunday breakfast at the end of the semester. When we arrived, we were immediately offered the opportunity to put together tables; the outdoor area is also suitable for very large groups. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. Particularly noteworthy is Jan, who served us excellently.

I tried again after several years. But unfortunately nothing has changed. Bad service and even worse food. Never again. Sorry, the people of Jena don't understand why they all go there. Probably due to a lack of alternatives...

Unfortunately we couldn't rate the food because we didn't get a table despite making a reservation. We showed up 10 minutes before making our reservation and found that although there were 5 free tables, none of them seemed to be intended for us. We also find a one-hour time slot for telephone reservations rather unfavorable. It may be more customer-friendly to switch to online reservation systems so that such a situation can be avoided in the future.

Simply good. Friendly service and good food 👍. In terms of price, I would say it's still within reasonable limits for Jena. For the main course we had Mediterranean vegetable rice and spaghetti 🍝 a la Chef.

Went to Stilbruch for lunch today. With 2 children and baby. The food was great. The service was super friendly and accommodating. Breastfeeding wasn't a problem either. The children were also provided with toys to tide them over until the food arrived. We were very satisfied overall. Price-performance fits. Staff unbeatable. We always enjoy going there again and again.

Pleasant surroundings, nice service and good food

I was recently on business with my team from the Philippines in a style break, as it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Jena. As always, we received a super friendly welcome, the menus were in English and everyone was pleasantly surprised that the portions were so large. All in all a great evening and I can only recommend it.

Never again! After about an hour, the rump steaks we ordered arrived for €38 each. Not only was the food lukewarm, but one steak was tough as a shoe sole in places. Both dishes were returned. After about 5 minutes the same plate came back with the statement "The chef has reheated the steaks" These were actually a little warmer on the surface. The potatoes get colder after this time. I thought I was in the wrong movie. Conclusion; Goodbye forever!
