I had the great pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant, and I'm still thrilled! The warm welcome begins the moment you step inside – the service is attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. You can immediately sense the genuine passion that goes into their work. The food was excellent. You can taste that only fresh, high-quality ingredients are used. I was particularly impressed by how harmoniously the flavors complemented each other – a delight from start to finish! The ambiance also contributes to the overall positive experience: cozy, stylish, and decorated with attention to detail. You simply feel at ease. In short: A fantastic restaurant that sets standards in both cuisine and service. Highly recommended – I will definitely be back!

Very high-quality dishes, some served in pans. I had basmati rice with turkey fillet, herbs, and fresh bell pepper strips. The quality and taste were excellent; the sauce was creamy and flavorful, and the turkey fillet was plentiful and cooked to perfection. The rice was cleverly arranged beneath the sauce and turkey, which I personally really appreciated. The herbs and bell peppers were lovingly arranged in the outer ring of basmati rice. I also ordered a homemade orange lemonade with lavender. This was garnished with blackberries and blueberries, also very attractively presented. The service was very professional and friendly. Despite the restaurant's location, the order and delivery of the freshly prepared food were very quick. Highly recommended; anyone in Jena should definitely check out this café/restaurant. The café boasts an exceptional interior design with a mix of styles. It's very popular, so there may be short waiting times. A wide selection of food is available: from breakfast and lunch specials to cocktails, there's something for everyone.

We had crepes with vanilla ice cream and applesauce for coffee – they were delicious! The people were incredibly friendly, and they even seemed to enjoy seeing our dog. We only visit Jena twice a year, but we usually come back here. We highly recommend it. See you soon! 👋

I had fried eggs with bacon, salad, and a cappuccino, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food arrived quickly, hot, and perfectly prepared. The servers were extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The café’s interior is cozy, warm, and beautifully classic — a great place to relax and enjoy a good meal. Most remarkable for us: the atmosphere. Located over at least 3 floors (as far as it was open when we were there) it is very unique in Jena. The layout of the restaurant however is the only downside for the service: it's really not that easy to get the attention of a waiter. Nevertheless, the staff was very friendly. I don't really know how to describe the food. You could say that they really try to give the name of the restaurant some meaning (just Google Stilbruch) but I can't say if that's really good or bad. My food was nice, but something I would have cooked myself as a student, looking what is in the kitchen and what can we do with it. Portions are very big.

I highly recommend this place if you're in Jena. Right by the Jen-Tower is Wagnergasse, where you'll find Café Stilbruch. Delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner – I'd gladly go there again.

I had dinner here with a group of friends and we received excellent service. The restaurant has three floors and several spaces, located on a street that concentrates about 14 other bistros, cafes, and restaurants. To drink, I ordered a lemonade with raspberries and, to eat, spaghetti à la "professore". The menu indicated that this dish was a house recommendation, which is why I chose it. I must confess that, in a month living in Germany, this dish was the most delicious I've tried here, and it was a generous portion that satisfied me (I tend to eat quite a lot). In total, I paid about 22 euros.

We enjoyed a superb breakfast in a comfortable atmosphere. The service was perfect. We'll be back.

I just stepped in for a beer and will certainly be back for the food. I checked out the menu and it looked very good. Traditional dishes in a sort of contemporary format. Place has a lovely and almost historic feeling. The ambience is warm and cozy. My server was very friendly and also spookable English. Thank you, Jan.

We ate here as part of a short break. The reservation worked perfectly. It was almost as if we were transported back in time to France in the 1960s. We were greeted lovingly at the door and escorted to our table. Our coats were taken and put away, and we were greeted and cared for. The guest is king here. Great food, all at the same time. Highly recommended, etc. We were also given a warm farewell. You don't even get service like that in a 4-star hotel. Huge praise to the staff and the kitchen. We would definitely recommend you. Best, the old ladies.

My wife and I ate at Stilbruch this evening. And we'd like to say thank you again. We had fantastic service☝🏼 I ordered the beef fillet with Gorgonzola, medium rare; the meat was cooked to perfection, and the rosemary potatoes were incredibly delicious. My wife had the pear casserole, which was delicious, and the appetizer plate with a variety of bruschetta and olives. Everything was a complete success... A lovely evening... We remember it from our student days. We often came here and enjoyed it. It's still very cozy. But a 50-minute wait for breakfast and then a completely carelessly prepared cheese platter with stale bread makes it no longer worth coming here. The value for money wasn't right on this day.

I used to enjoy coming here. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and the service have declined. My meal, the baked mushroom pan, tasted okay. However, a friend's salad had chicken that was still raw inside, which he promptly pointed out to the server. The meal was not corrected, there was no discount, and not even an apology.

A very cozy cafeteria serving hearty and varied meals in a comfortable atmosphere. You can also sit outside. One star deduction because my pasta was drowning in the delicious arrabiata sauce. My companions enjoyed all the other dishes.

We enjoyed the "Morgentraum" (morning dream), a sumptuous breakfast. The abundance and outstanding quality of the food, as well as the friendliness and flexibility of the service, completely won us over. High praise!

We were there as a girls' group and had a wonderful evening! The cocktails (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were delicious. My picture shows a non-alcoholic cocktail with rhubarb. I had a salad with fried potatoes and a fried egg. The other girls had baked dishes. Everything was delicious. We sat inside, to the right of the main entrance on the ground floor. It was crowded and therefore a bit noisy. The decor was quaint, and so were the chairs. A bit hard considering the long hours, but still OK. The price-performance ratio was good, in my opinion.

Even though it was already very busy, they still managed to get us a table. The service was super friendly and quick. We had a cheese, a sausage, and a sweet breakfast. All three were delicious and the portions were plentiful. At €70 in total, it was also quite expensive. If you like something special and still have enough money, this is a great place to go.

We first went to Cafe Anders. But we didn't feel comfortable there, so we left after a drink. A few meters further on, we hit the jackpot at Café Stilbruch. We felt very comfortable there. The ambiance could be described as artistic/rustic. The service was extremely friendly, and, unlike at Café Anders, there were no long waits. The food was delicious and plentiful. My two girls and I had three pan dishes, and my wife had a salad. The pan dishes were absolutely amazing, and I was really embarrassed when we had to send the pans back more than half full. But after a day in the car, we just couldn't get enough of them. The prices were really reasonable! We were completely satisfied.

We last visited Café Stilbruch about 27 years ago, and it's still as iconic as ever. The food was very good, and the service was very busy but still attentive. We won't wait quite as long for our next visit.

Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed 😞 We came here for lunch based on a recommendation and don't really understand the recommendation... The fried potatoes were heavy on caraway, cut into large cubes, and not properly fried, the crepe batter was limp and bland, the vegetable pan had a lot of liquid in it, and the pear pan simply didn't have enough meat. Overall, everything was tasty, but it wasn't a total hit. The portions are definitely generous, though!

We had a rump steak and turkey breast fillet. The fillet with side dishes was absolutely delicious. However, the rump steak didn't come with our desired side dish. After we pointed this out to the very friendly waitress, the correct side dish was served very quickly. Despite the minor mishap, it was a wonderful evening. We'd love to be back soon!

If you like spicy food with a little sweetness, you should definitely try the pear pan. It tastes surprisingly good. The Californian salad is good. If we're ever back in Jena, we'd definitely stop here again. It's a great combination with the Botanical Garden!

I went to "Stilbruch" with three friends. Everyone ordered something different, and everything was delicious. We'd especially like to highlight Jan, the waitress, who is extremely kind and friendly to his guests.

Wir waren früher öfter da und haben das Frühstück sehr genossen nach dem Besitzerwechsel hat sich viel verändert. Die Liebe zum Detail ist verloren, ebenso wie unsere Besuche dort. Aber im Einzelnen: Croissants wären gut gewesen, hätte man sie ohne die dicke Schicht Puderzucker serviert. Milchkaffee mit Zimt. Marmelade Supermarktqualität, kein Vergleich zu früher. Das französische Frühstück war alles andere als französisch. Es war voll, der Service langsam und überlastet und der Rest, naja. Die guten Zeiten im Café sind für uns vorbei, wir suchen uns eine Alternative.

We were at the Planetarium on June 19, 2025, and wanted to have a good meal afterward. Because of the many positive reviews, we deliberately chose the "Cafe Stilbruch." Maybe we were unlucky, maybe the chef was sick. I don't know. I would describe our meal like this: You buy the cheapest thing you can get at a discount store and arrange it so that it looks roughly like what the customer expects from the menu. It was the cheapest convenience food, not even properly warm. There was quite a lot of it, but the quality of the food was very poor.

Highly recommended. We went there for breakfast. The breakfast selection was excellent, and the service was friendly and good. Good value for money.

Yes, I can recommend it. We went there spontaneously and didn't even have to wait longer than five minutes before a table was free. If you want to be on the safe side, make a reservation. We had the vegetarian breakfast for two people and it was delicious. And the energy juice, so for a morning grouch, was really great.

Nice atmosphere, very good service, but the food was inadequate: e.g., the Burgundy pan was poorly seasoned and lacked "Burgundy" wine, and the spaghetti arabada tasted only of bacon without garlic. We won't be eating there again.

Yes, when Mom's along, there's bound to be something for the son. In my case, a pair of new Air Max sneakers and a pair of shorts found their way into my wardrobe. ... Even in Jena, it's hard to find decent clothes. "Can we order them online?" is the answer you hear everywhere these days when discerning customers criticize the selection. Anyway, we found what we were looking for and enjoyed the bustling activity of the many young people... what a pleasant contrast to Rolscht, even if our little town is worlds more tranquil. In the evening came the most important part of the day... THAT'S RIGHT! We went out for dinner! It's simply unbelievable how exhausted you can be when you go on a shopping spree with a woman by your side. I, usually used to long, brisk walks, was completely wiped out when we arrived at Stilbruch after, according to my pedometer, 8.2 kilometers of "getting shops." It's incredible how tiring shopping can be. But hey, at Stilbruch, one of my favorite cult pubs in Jena, there's plenty of food to fill your stomach. We recharged our batteries as follows: 🥘𝘿𝙞𝙚 𝙈𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙞 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙚: 𝙀𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙛𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙚! Delicious strips of beef, sautéed with mushrooms and spring onions, deglazed with fine Merlot, garnished with sour cream, chicory, seasonal vegetable sprouts, and fresh parsley... A DREAM! 🥗𝘿𝙚𝙢 𝘼𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙚́ 𝙬𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙚 𝙠𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙯𝙩: 𝙂𝙧𝙪̈𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙩 Amazing! Fresh, roasted green asparagus with country ham, feta, on a bed of what felt like a ton of arugula and other greens, cress, fruit, and so much more. The enormous salad was a spiritual experience in green... I couldn't finish it! The food at this place is excellent; I can't praise it enough. The friendly young staff were quick and competent. Satisfied, refreshed, and full, we rolled out of Stilbruch and headed home!

Unfortunately, the price was too high for this disappointment. Unfortunately, the food wasn't entirely convincing - the fried potatoes were undercooked and quite dry, and the tomato paste in the pasta didn't taste convincing. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Vegan Options: The two of us had the vegan breakfast + original bruschetta. The hot chocolate with oat milk was the best I've ever had! The bruschetta was also amazing! The vegan breakfast itself was very bland, a bit boring. However, there are other vegan options available, such as vegan pulled pork, which we didn't try. Accessibility: Unfortunately, the café is not wheelchair accessible and has many narrow stairs. The restrooms are also very cramped. Larger people will have real difficulty using them.

We had reserved in advance otherwise we would have had bad cards with six people. With the service and the ambience as well as the great food, that's no wonder. Please keep it up.
