Original, very tasty food, friendly staff

They serve very nice food. Especially the thalis are very good. I really like the lamb curry with paratha. Before they served it with coconut chutney but now only with sambar. Overall a very nice experience

As a South Asia traveler I can only say, very authentic food, very tasty… All that is missing is the noise of the street food #kottu!!!!!

A change from the many surrounding kebab shops in the district. The dishes also differ from the usual Tandori Indian, so you have to try something new. Small minus, the "mild" is already very spicy, but if you ask, you can add yogurt to tone it down. Then it is also acceptable for German palates. The ambience is very functional, very open, decorations only on the walls. But we were there to eat and not on a cultural trip.

Nice staff and good food for the price. However, the dishes are quite spicy, which is not necessarily a bad thing. However, if you're looking for classic tandoori dishes, you've come to the wrong place.

The waiter was friendly and patiently explained some things on the menu to us. I can't rate the food quite as positively. My starter was extremely dark on the outside, I would say burnt (see photo). The main course was interesting, I just don't know why it's called "vegetable curry" when there's only a handful of chickpeas in the end and only sauces. Particularly bitter: my wife specifically ordered her meal mild so that our 1.5 year old son could eat with him. It was so spicy that he could only eat the plain rice and obviously didn't enjoy it. The Indian drinks were interesting, but unfortunately half of the menu was "sold out". Unfortunately there were no individual dishes either.

The foods were too spicy and tasted not good. Prices were much higher than the prices listed at the entrance. Service was very low and I received my food after waiting 45 min. You can find much better restaurants at the area for the same price

I rarely write reviews but this place is worth it. If I could give it a thousand stars, I would. I keep coming back here again and again. The quantity is large, the price is cheap, the taste is authentic - the biryani here is to die for! Best Indian place in Mannheim - or even Germany for that matter as I've tried other Indian restaurants all over Germany. 💙

The restaurant offers authentic South Indian food, but the service is slow and the bathroom facilities leave a lot to be desired. The atmosphere overall is not particularly comfortable.

Das Mittagbuffet ist wahnsinnig lecker und hat mich an Kerala erinnert. Ich komme immer wieder gerne!! Auch das Personal ist sehr herzlich.

Sehr sehr lecker und toller Service! Sehr grosse Auswahl an Currys und Beilagen! Geschmacklich und auch optisch einwandfrei. Die Preise sind mehr als fair!

Preislich absolut in Ordnung. Geschmacklich auch. Leider musste man sehr lange auf sein Essen warten. Bedienung konnte weder gut Deutsch noch Englisch, was die Bestellung etwas erschwert hat.

I and my friend had buffet today. There was not much options in non veg section. The fried chicken was stale and the same meat was added to the curry as well. I would visit other restaurant with the price and quality they quote.

Dosa and sambar tasted like home food. The food tasted good and was worth the price. Must place if you are craving South Indian food.

Good south Indian restaurant. I have visited this multiple times.The chefs change many times. There is a little authentic south Indian taste. Plus 100 points for providing south indians a chance to at least to experience home in Rhein Neckar. However it's very expensive compared to savanna bhavans in Germany. TBH you can make ready made dosas at home in five minutes and almost all of the times the dosa tastes better than here.

Poor and unattentive service. Food was Ok but too spicy. There was no communication as to what to expect and what modification is required in our meal (e.g., spiciness). Food came after nearly 45 minutes of waiting time, without warning us that it could be this delay. Some rates in the menu didn't match the bill.

Essen war wenigstens alles frisch und selbst gemacht! Viel zu scharf für normale Leute. Service war nicht so toll, es wurden nie die Teller abgeräumt, nur nach mehr fachen Aufforderungen wurden dann mal Teller und leeren Flaschen abgeräumt. Insgesamt haben wir dort 3 Stunden verbracht bis wir alle unser essen hatten.

Tut mir leid aber das war nicht wie erwartet. Zu Hause koche Ich besser mit Curry.

Netter Service. Deutsch war überhaupt kein Problem (nur zur Info, weil das in einer anderen Rezension kritisiert wurde) Das Essen ist lecker, reichlich und frisch. und anders als man es kennt, in Deutschland wird in indischen Restaurants meinst eher nordindisches essen serviert, wie wir erfahren haben (tandoor, palak paneer usw). Die Gerichte waren insofern eine Abwechslung die wir gesucht hatten und bei sj gefunden haben. Gutes Preis-Leistung Verhältnis.

Das Restaurant sieht vielleicht unscheinbar aus, aber wer wissen möchte wie in Indien gegessen wird, der wird hier fündig. Dort gibt es traditionelle indische Küche, die Mitarbeitenden sind sehr freundlich, alles ist sauber und vorallem günstig. Die Portionen sind gut, sodass jeder satt wird. Der Mango Lassi war super lecker und ist zu empfehlen. Wer es gerne scharf möchte muss es nur sagen und kommt voll auf seine Kosten.

Jedzenie dobre chociaż nie ma dużego wyboru. Stosunek jakości do ceny ok. Najbardziej przeszkadzało mi to, że były metalowe tacki zamiast zależy.

Leckeres und authentisches Essen. Das Büffet bietet für den Preis (Mo-Fr 13€ & Sa-So 15€) ein gute Auswahl an frischen Grrichten. Für jeden was dabei. Es steht eine A'LA carte auswahl zur Verfügung. Preis Leistung Top,Sauberkeit und Freundlichkeit auch. Gerne jederzeit wieder.

Wußte gar nicht dass es das in Mannheim gibt. Südindische Küche. Heute habe ich nur Dosa probiert. Sehr lecker. Auch das Buffet sieht ansprechend aus. Werde ich beim nächsten Mal ausprobieren. Schmeckt wie im Urlaub in Kerala. Toll.

Leckere Sri Lankanische Küche mit einem all you can eat Buffet. Wer dort nichts findet, kann in der Karte bestellen. Service ist sehr freundlich und der Preis absolut in Ordnung.

Good food with real Indian taste

Nice restaurant in which you can have a real fulfilling meal for a reasonable price in the centre of the city of Mannheim. Enough variaties for vegetarians/vegans. +++

It's okayish Imbiss. The buffet selection was not warm which was our only disappointment otherwise decent variety and flavour.

Das Essen hier ist sehr lecker und es gibt eine große Auswahl, auch für Vegetarier! Alles ist gepflegt, außerdem wird man sehr freundlich und aufmerksam bedient, alles bestens, wir kommen gerne hierher!

Pro: Die Personal ist freundlich. Con: Das Essen ist 👎 Hinweis: Man muss Englisch kennen. Deutsch geht leider nicht. In Fotos sieht alles super aus, aber fehlte leider den Geschmack. Sehr enttäuscht! 🙁 Dosa: sehr fad, sah nicht frisch zubereitet zu haben. Die Füllung hatte Erbsen drin, die nicht rein gehören. Übergefüllte Dosas! Hätte sie ordentlich gefüllt. Die Suppe (Sambar): Yuck! Das Kokosnuss Chutney war in Ordnung. Habe trotzdem mich nicht beschwert, weil der Junge der mich bedient hat, sehr sympathisch war. Never again.

Parking is little bit tough to get here. But the food and the service is really great and the prices are also good.

habe heute ein auf der Karte für 8,99 ausgezeichnetes Lamm Curry gegessen , der inhaber verlangte danach 11,99 - nie wieder komme ich! Das Essen war auch keine 8,99 wert. Vom Lamm war vielleicht 30 Gramm drinnen

Perhaps we chose a wrong day to visit this place which otherwise seemed to have high recommendations. There was very littel authentic about food that day. My masala dosa was one of the most tasteless, boring, bland dosa ever eaten, my vda was a thick lump without any feel-fluufy lightness, the accompanying sambar was quite OK, and the chutneys were fine. The service with friendliness and smile was the main compensation for the food. Maybe I should choose another day at some other time to try again.

Das Essen war unglaublich lecker. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist ebenfalls super. Das Personal hat uns hinsichtlich der Menukarte sehr gut & nett beraten. Wir würden jedem einen Besuch im SJ empfehlen. Dieses Restaurant bekommt von uns 5 von insgesamt 5 möglichen Kochlöffel.
