Prince of India in Mannheim

It was our first time here and certainly not the last.

From the outside, the restaurant appears rather unassuming, but inside it's cozy and tastefully decorated. The butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and the mixed salad were delicious and fresh. A pleasant atmosphere and a friendly feel – we'd be happy to return.

Highly recommended, the food was delicious. We'll be back.

We spent a day in Mannheim. Towards the evening, we looked for a suitable restaurant for dinner. We passed through the Schlemmerblock restaurant and arrived at the Prince of India. We received a friendly welcome. The ambiance is beautifully decorated. The food was prepared quickly and freshly. Changes to the menu were easily accommodated. We enjoyed the food immensely. We would gladly return.

We ordered April Spritz, and it just tasted like water. Sparkling water comes in an open glass, not a sealed bottle. The food tasted quite good, but it was a small portion for two people.

Very delicious Indian cuisine. We had a mixed platter for two called "Journey to India" for starters, along with naan bread. We chose Prince Mixed Grill Masala and Chicken Makhani for our main courses. We also treated ourselves to dessert. Absolutely delicious.

All the side dishes (tikka) taste the same because they only changed the meat and not the curry, which initially disappointed me a lot. Second, the service isn't that good; they're customer-focused. I prefer them; there are so many good Indian restaurants with good service and good food.

There were four of us at the dinner buffet today. There were only two tables occupied, so it was pretty quiet. The food tasted good despite the rather small selection. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was rather unpleasant. As we took our plates to serve ourselves at the buffet, a person (probably the owner) was staring directly at us, including our plates. It was really awkward. None of us wanted to get a second plate afterward. We even asked each other if anyone was going back, simply because it was so awkward. In the end, they said it would cost €24.50 per person. However, they charged €25 per person straight away. Everyone paid, but no one wanted to tip. I then asked why €25, and the answer was simply: it cost €24.50, and whether I wanted to pay €24.50 or €25. I had already given €25 and, to be honest, didn't feel like saying anything else. In retrospect, we're a little annoyed that we just paid. The second waiter was actually really nice!

We arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes before opening and were let in without any problems. The food was excellent, the value for money was good, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained.

A lunch buffet for the price of a doner kebab is excellent value for money. And incredibly tasty!
