Serways Raststätte Remscheid Ost in Wermelskirchen

I'm only reviewing the men's restrooms here. I just returned from a four-day music festival and unfortunately discovered that every portable toilet there was cleaner than the men's restrooms at this Serway. Four out of five were extremely dirty, and the last one was occupied. I don't understand why I should pay the extra euro.

One star because at least the pay machine in the restroom worked and issued a voucher. Paper towels for drying hands were also available. The restrooms were in an unbelievably dirty state! Until now, I'd always happily paid the rather hefty fee of €1 because, in return, I'd always found a clean restroom. Today was different. Absolutely terrible! The comments from the shop employees were also very annoying; they were the only people I could complain to. I did so very politely – after all, these employees weren't to blame for the situation... But their comments were truly annoying: "We're not responsible for that – it's Sanifair, and ultimately, it's the users who make the restrooms so dirty." Simply unbelievable! When I then wanted to exchange three of my now-collected "vouchers" for a cookie for a mere €2.99, it wasn't possible because only ONE voucher can be redeemed at a time. THAT'S BAD SERVICE!!! I can't say anything about the catering, but about the ladies' restrooms: an absolute mess: out of 5 toilets, 2 are cleaned, the others are locked because they haven't been cleaned for years, see photo

The restrooms were very clean and the cafe had everything you could need, even if you had special requests.

We came for breakfast, I ordered omelet and black coffee, omelet was oversalted and overfried, seems like they don’t cleaning pans that often. They didn’t asked which size of coffee I want and added to order biggest cup possible.

Unfriendly staff simply disrespectful

Of the five women's restrooms, three were locked or broken. So there were only two women's restrooms—which meant a long wait on a Saturday... and you pay €1 for that.

Parking is difficult there. The restrooms smelled a bit. The gas station itself was clean when I was there.

Clean and fragrant air .. nothing to complain about

One of the worst rest stops I've ever seen or visited. Getting from the parking lot to the rest stop is extremely dangerous, as there are no decent sidewalks. They then charge you €1 for using the restroom. However, these vouchers can only be redeemed for individual products. So, if the family goes to the restroom after eating, they have to buy five overpriced products, which the €5 restroom fee can then be credited to. Grade 6 - sit down

This was by far the dirtiest rest stop. Overflowing trash cans and trash everywhere. You have to send someone out to collect it, even if other idiots just throw their trash there. It works at other places, too.

The rest stop is beautifully located. Right next to the dam. The food and drinks selection is adequate. Unfortunately, the quality is only at the level of a snack bar. The dam is a great place for a walk. You can walk around it comfortably in 45-60 minutes.

Very crowded and not very clean.

The service was okay, but the curry sauce was a disgrace. A liquid broth with no flavor. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

On August 16, 2025, around 1:40 p.m., we wanted to order something. The employee wanted more money than indicated. When we asked her why we had to pay more, she said, "I don't want to argue. Either you pay what I say or you don't get any food!" Unbelievable.

The parking spaces were so dirty that we only changed drivers. Sorry, dear Tank und Rast, but why should I stop here when there's trash everywhere? Think about it for a moment. I'd be happy to hire security to point out where to park or where the nearest trash can is. That kind of public image is detrimental to business.

Typical of Serways' unkempt facilities. The chaotic parking lot is noisy, littered with trash, and there's no shade. Restrooms aren't particularly clean, and the sausages are greasy. Very crowded.

Even one star is too many. The toilets were beyond substandard. Dirty and clogged. Having to pay €1 for this is a disgrace. We've always stopped here in recent years because the toilets have always been clean, but today was completely unacceptable!

There were huge queues at McDonald's, while the other snack and takeaway vendors didn't have a single customer. But if you just want fries, the ones next door are also very good and made fresh...it only takes half as long and is cheaper too.

Just a quick restroom stop. It's extremely dirty there at 6:30 in the morning.

The rest stop is already pretty rancid

If there were zero stars, these would definitely be them! It's unbelievable how unfriendly people can be! Both ladies who served us were so irritated, rude, and condescending! Constantly sighing at everything we asked for, misunderstood twice despite clearly stating "LATTE MACHIATO WITH WHITE CHOCOLATE," and then rolling our eyes! We would have liked to eat something, but THANK YOU, NO, for such treatment! Sad!

Relatively small rest area with not a lot of parking spaces.

Sunifair is the worst! Dirty and littered. Not a single toilet is clean and functioning. Plus, McDonald's is closed. Why is there a rest stop there?

The rest stop is perfectly fine. It's not huge, but it doesn't need to be. Restrooms are clean. The cost is typically €1 for Serways, which you get back as a coupon. Whether I'll ever redeem the coupon or just forget it in my wallet forever? We'll see.

Everything was great, would go again

Hardly any parking for cars, more like a gas station with a McDonald's. And that one didn't even have ketchup...

Over 15 min tabilo is empt serway shop also.

There's not enough space. Try to find a parking space before you go in. After 5 p.m., you don't need to stop at the rest stop because the trucks block everything.

COFFEE FELLOWS: The lady there handles the Franzbrötchen for customers with bare, unwashed hands (no tongs, gloves, or anything like that)... after also touching the toilet deposit vouchers. And she's even rude when she addresses them. Really below all hygiene standards...And the service, too.

This is one of the most unpleasant service stations I've experienced in Germany! Filthy pumps! No paper towels at the pumps! Minutes of waiting (bistro or snack bar has priority!) before you can finally pay! Not enough parking for cars!

Fuel was drained on the night of 5-6.07.2025. We worked on 2 trucks. The first one stops next to and drains, and the second one stops behind the first one, with the hazard lights on, and blocks both the view and the passage. I didn't see the numbers on the trucks, but the semi-trailers (Refs) had Spanish ones. Peace and goodness to all!

Review – McDonald's Remscheid (Service Area): Unfortunately a Disappointment Today I visited the McDonald's at the service area in Remscheid for the first (and last) time – and I have to say: It was an absolutely disappointing experience. I've been to many McDonald's around the world in my life, but this visit unfortunately stands out as a negative. The employee, a younger, heavier blonde woman, was so unfriendly and indifferent that I seriously wondered why they treated paying customers this way. It seemed as if they had completely lost all sense of customer service – perhaps thinking that you can't "afford" regular customers at a motorway service area, since most guests only come once anyway. But that's exactly what shouldn't be the attitude in a service-related business – especially not in one that claims to deliver global quality and consistent service. Unfortunately, this indifference was also reflected in the food. My burger was poorly prepared, cold, and simply unappetizing. The overall impression was: no enthusiasm, no effort, no quality. I sincerely hope that McDonald's trains its employees better – especially in terms of friendliness, motivation, and service skills. Because regardless of whether they're a regular or a passing customer, every guest should be treated with respect and be able to expect a minimum level of quality. For me, this visit was unique – in two senses of the word.

Highway rest stop...very expensive

It's very well equipped for resting and eating along the way. The worst thing is the prices: €3.50 for an espresso and €3.50 for a Coca-Cola seem a bit steep to me. On the plus side, the euro you pay with your ticket for using the restroom is deducted from your coffee bill.

We arrived around 4:30 a.m. The toilet was very dirty, and we paid €1 for it. Coffee was only available from the machine; there was no explanation of how to enter the toilet receipt.

Stop here and eat before the traffic jam in Dortmund. The currywurst with fries is served on fine dishes. A real eye-catcher.

Bad. Breakfast at 8:45: 2 scrambled eggs with very bad rolls (from yesterday, it simply can't be fresh) and 2 coffees for more than 20 euros... All the tables were very sticky and dirty. A disgrace...

WOW, what can I say? Restrooms clean, sinks dirty. Gas station employees very nice and attentive. The seating area was terrible. We were there on May 16, 2025, at 8:15 PM. It wasn't busy. All the tables were dirty, smeared with ketchup and smeared with scum, and there was dirt under the tables. Dirt in the deep window sills. Very unpleasant.

Serways paying for the toilet OK, I stood for three days, you can't use all the tickets at once for Sanifar. Tragedy. I don't recommend, unpleasant sellers !!!!!!!!!!

The most disgusting Sanifair toilets I have ever seen. One of the ladies' toilets was completely blocked up, the floor was completely wet, there was toilet paper everywhere, there were no towels, and the toilet paper holder in one toilet had been torn down. To charge 1€ for this is an impudence.

Like all highway gas stations, very expensive and tasteless. In Germany I would avoid motorway meals as much as possible

Very good service, friendly, fast and reliable! You feel like you are in good hands and receive competent advice. Appointments are kept and the atmosphere is pleasant. This is exactly how customer service should be – honest, direct and with a smile. Absolutely recommended!

Just wanted to go to the toilet for a moment, I'm happy to pay €1 for it, but I'd also like it to be clean, Cw's service was brilliant and there wasn't any soap... then I don't have to pay extra for it

The rest area is extremely dirty. The catering industry is also very dirty. Some of the furniture is missing seat cushions. Very disappointing and disgusting.

You can find everything you need for a break inside. The problem is outside... The parking situation is always a disaster... other car drivers stand at the bottom of the curve (in the case of the weekend also in the 2nd row) because you are simply too lazy to drive up to one of the parking spaces and have to walk more than 10 m.

Soccer game in Cologne or not... but if I have to pay 1 euro for peeing, then that's what I expect 1. The toilet is not clogged and 2. That I have towels to dry my hands. Unfortunately, neither was the case. I'm used to something different from Serways Sad

By far the most expensive gas station I have ever experienced. In addition, extremely overpriced defective and electrical items are sold.

3.99 for a bottle of water and 7.10 for a chiabata mozzarella. Avoid the store!

You pay €1 for Sanifair only to come across toilets that are peed on, shitty and completely filthy. You can redeem the coupon at the gas station, but for what? The prices there are already overpriced, and the poor condition makes the whole thing even more absurd. One can only feel sorry for the staff, they neither caused this mess nor do they set the prices. The responsibility lies with the people who leave the toilets as they are, or with the operators who don't take better care of them. To be honest, I wouldn't want to clean a daily battlefield like that. Welcome to Germany, that's all I'm saying. Behave the way you would want yourself to behave.

I think making a pee for one euro is too expensive because some people simply slipped under the turnstile
