Hotel Restaurant Eschbachtalsperre in Wermelskirchen

It was a nice place before seerways took over. I'm here 26/7, I've been traveling a long way and thought we would eat but there was a shortage of staff so we didn't get any food. It's the worst place now, I'll never go back. But the surroundings are great with a freshwater pond and forest, nice walk around the pond.

Service is very slow. You wait an hour for your food.

Slow, disorganized, and the €3.20 espresso served lukewarm after 10 minutes. No business, two young ladies completely overwhelmed... We are lost... Germany, wake up...

Overwhelmed and unfriendly, I left after waiting 10 minutes

We were there for the breakfast buffet. In summary: the worst breakfast buffet I've ever had. We had to fight for cups (the shelves next to the coffee machine were empty). The cheese was already curling, it was so old, the cereal was gone and wasn't refilled, the scrambled eggs were cold, but the egg whites were warm. It was simply a very simple, very small, and very unloving buffet with little selection. There was no clearing service in between, nor was there even a question about whether everything was okay. Hospitality definitely needs to be improved.

Dog friendly restaurant with great food and service.

We were always regular customers and were there regularly and were always happy with the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately not anymore, depending on the employee the service really deteriorates. Everything was dried out (cheese, sausage, etc.) Jams were empty and were no longer refilled, as were crossaints, which we always enjoyed eating here, were empty and were rudely denied when asked. It's a shame, we probably won't come here anymore.

The room was quiet and perfectly adequate for one night. Unfortunately, the restaurant is disappointing; the prices on the menu don't match the prices on the POS system. Beware of this trap. Furthermore, they served Sauerbraten instead of roast pork. After this experience, we decided to skip breakfast at the hotel.

Great view if you want to take a short break and have a bite to eat; you don't even notice that you're at a motorway service station.

Terrible service... Never again even though the food was actually quite tasty

The ambience and the food were good 👍. The service was overwhelmed and not attentive...🤷‍♂️

We were there on a public holiday and wanted to order coffee and cake. Occupancy was perhaps 40%. We weren't served for about 17 minutes. Guests who arrived after us had already placed their orders and we waited Still. When asked whether we could also order at the counter, the only answer was: you see, there are only two of us and you can't order at the counter, you come to the table. It took another 10 minutes before someone came. The order then arrived again in an acceptable time frame. However, how could it be otherwise, both waffles we ordered did not come with the topics that were ordered. Summary: we probably had a very bad day and will prefer to choose another restaurant nearby in the future.

One star is still far too many. After twenty minutes, my husband got us a menu himself. The waitress probably saw this, but other people who came after us were still served. After five minutes my husband got angry and asked an older waitress when it would finally be our turn. She just looked indignant and unfriendly so we left. Not recommended this restaurant. 😡

Waffles with cola and iced coffee are only available from 5 p.m. when the kitchen opens.

Worst service I've ever experienced. When my mother asked who was the boss, she was hissed at and treated disrespectfully. We waited 45 minutes with a family of 10... believe it or not. We received neither menu nor service. Unbelievable...!!!! The very last!!! Pooh!!! Many other guests were also upset and left the restaurant at the same time.

Update as of October 30, 2022: One star is still too many, but unfortunately you have to give it, we wanted to enjoy the beautiful autumn day again today and spontaneously met up with 10 people here on the restaurant terrace, but that was probably a shot in the oven, we drew attention to us several times, but the extremely unfriendly service staff didn't care. After waiting for a good hour we were fed up, this would-be restaurant won't see us again. The food is ok, even if it is of a higher service station standard, but the ambience is better, the outside area also invites you to linger, but only if you don't let the nearby highway noise bother you, the service is friendly, the food is good served quickly.

Das Hotel liegt idyllisch oberhalb der Raststätte, direkt an der ältesten deutschen Teinkwassertalsperre. Sehr nette Terrasse mit Wind-/Lärmschutz zum verweilen nach einem Rundgang um die Talsperre. Das Hotel liegt in Fahrtrichtung Dortmund an der A1 Raststätte Remscheid, ist aber auch aus Fahrtrichtung Köln über eine befahrbare Brücke zu erreichen. Unmittelbar am Hotel befinden sich ausreichend Parkplätze sowie einige Ladesäulen für E-Autos. Darüber hinaus gibt es eine Haltestelle des ÖPNV der Remscheider Stadtwerke von der man das Remscfeider Stadtgebiet bzw. die Innenstadt erreicht.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, die Bedienung jedoch leider eine Katastrophe. Anfangs wurden wir ignoriert. Nach zweimaliger Nachfrage kam dann jemand und bediente uns mit ziemlich grimmigem Gesichtsausdruck und unfreundlich. Bei jedem weiteren Getränkewunsch mussten wir zur Theke gehen und bescheid sagen, dass wir noch etwas bestellen wollen damit nochmal jemand zum Tisch gekommen ist.

Interessanter Stop an der Autobahn. Saubere Toiletten, freundlicher Service, gute, einfache Küche. Kommen immer wieder gerne vorbei.

Wir waren bisher immer auf der Terasse, um etwas zu trinken, daher können wir zum "Essen" leider nichts sagen. Aber die Bedienung war bis dato immer flott und sehr sehr nett. Dazu sind die Getränke, wie Kaffee und vor allem der Eiskaffee sehr lecker !

Wir waren Heute mit Freunden ( 5 Person) im Restaurant essen. Wir haben zimlisch schnell Getränke bekommen,leider auf Speisekarten 15 Minuten gewartet -alle waren bei anderen Gästen unterwegs ob wollen Restaurant war noch nicht halb voll. Auf Rechnung genau so lange. Essen war lecker aber an den Salatbuffet darf man nur ein mal was aussuchen. Ob wir nochmal kommen bleibt noch in Gespräch.

They kept us waiting more than one hour for lasagne from the micro. No excuse for this was attempted.

Hotel keine Ahnung... bin da immer nur um den Stausee gejoggt

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich Und das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Die Preise sind angemessen. Das Restaurant befindet sich direkt an einer Talsperre die zum Spazierengehen einlädt.

Leider kann ich zur Qualität von Speis' und Trank nichts sagen: als die Bedienung unsere Bestellung aufnehmen wollte, brach sie mit den Worten "ich muss erst mal Getränke machen" mitten im Vorgang ab... Da sind wir (bis dahin hatten wir eh schon 15 Minuten gewartet), ohne was gegessen oder getrunken zu haben, gegangen. Ich nehme es ihr nicht übel, ein Reisebus voll älterer Generation, von denen jeder einzeln zahlen möchte, ist wirklich nicht das schönste. Da wäre eine zweite Bedienung, quasi von der Ersatzbank 😊, gut gewesen. Schade, die Lage ist schon schön: Blick auf die Talsperre und so weit weg von der Autobahn, dass man die kaum noch wahrnimmt. Die Einrichtung des Restaurants sah auch gut aus, was man nicht zwingend vermutet hätte nach dem äußeren Eindruck des Gebäudes (60er/70er Jahre Klotz).

Haben hier mit unserem Wohnmobil auf dem Weg von Paris nach Berlin Zwischenstopp gemacht, das Restaurant mit angeschlossenem Hotel aber nur durch Zufall auf der Suche nach einem ruhigen Parkplatz gefunden. Es liegt etwas oberhalb der Tankstelle und dem Serways Imbiss. Super-freundliche Bedienung, Essen prima, moderate Preise und wunderschöner Blick auf die Talsperre. Sehr zu empfehlen.

An der A1 von Köln nach Dortmund befindet sich ein Rastplatz von dem man zu diesem Hotel/Restaurant kommt. Offensichtlich bleiben viele an der "unteren" Autobahnraststätte, denn in dem Restaurant Talsperre war recht wenig los. Man sitzt sehr schön auch im Freien, die Autobahn ist nicht so laut zu hören und man hat eine schöne Aussicht auf den Stausee. Das Salatbuffet ist übersichtlich und nichts besonderes, das Essen ansonsten ordentlich und für eine Raststätte an der Autobahn recht günstig. Service freundlich aber nicht sonderlich aufmerksam. Gehört für mich zu einem der Besten Restaurants an Deutschen Autobahnen.

Tolle Umgebung abseits der Autobahn, direkt an der ältesten Trinkwassertalsperre Deutschlands. Im Hotel freundliche Bedienung und gutes Angebot.

Schöne Lage, war dort auf einer Tagung und kann zum Hotel selber nicht viel sagen. Der Tagungsraum war angemessen und gut ausgestattet. Das Essen , als Buffet, war okay

Schönes Hotel mit toller Lage mit Blick auf Eschbachtalsperre Remscheid. Und viele Möglichkeiten an joggen...Fahrrad fahren...spazieren und danach leckeres Bier genießen....Viel Spaß
