Impeccable on every level. We had reservations for 16 people. Very hearty meal, quickly served (despite the crowds) and good value for money. Very attentive and really friendly staff. Plus multilingual. A big thank you to Cica, really very kind and very professional. We recommend.

Good breakfast on a Sunday, I enjoyed the scrambled eggs and the crispy bacon. I also like the sweet pancakes. The bread assortment was great. The breakfast deal did not come with orange juice or any beverage. The price is almost the same as the hotel's overall. Even with reservation we were seated next to the kitchen, which made are clothes smell like bacon. Nothing special done like a Sunday brunch, just the same standard breakfast dishes. The location is great!

GOOD FOOD BJT CHECK YOUR BILL - THEY ADD A 10% TIP ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!! We've been coming to Schwan for awhile. This was our first time though during the Christmas rush. The food was really good; the veggie burger and fries. The service was strictly okay; starting with confusion over which tables were reserved/ not..it would be ideal if they'd have a sign saying 'Please wait to be seated'. Anyway we got a table and enjoyed the meal. I was a bit shocked by the final bill: that seemed a lot for 2 burgers and lemonades. I still tipped €2 and then asked for the bill..annoying that the bill is delivered via a QR-code. Clearly the bill said €50, I was charged €55 and I paid €57. Go figure! The waiter tried to tell me that this wasn't deliberate but reading some of the reviews below make me believe otherwise. Honestly, I challenged it of course and got my €5 back. As someone from the retail industry, I'm shocked that restaurants are stooping to new lows to rip off customers. The service was barely ok, the waiter even forgot to give me my takeaway of leftover fries. I sincerely request Schwan to correct this bad, non transparent practice and give a proper bill to customers / show them the bill on the phone..it's annoying on so many levels. A - how do I know you've billed the right products when you don't show me the itemised bill? You could either bill me more or even less? Also stop expecting me to use my private phone for scanning your QR codes. This is getting out of hand really. What if my battery is dead, will I not get a bill then? B - It's Rüde and ridiculous to add a tip on your own..sorry can you please pay your staff the right salaries? also the waiter trying to cover it up by saying the system made it €52?! Doubt everything can be blamed on IT Haha C - the entire experience left a bad taste and I don't see why I'm expected to automatically tip 10% when the prices have already been increased. €18,90 for a veggie burger is finally ridiculous! D - looking at the below reviews complaining on this, clearly it's bothering customers E - is this a bad practice to dupe international customers? My gut tells me yes and if that's the case that's even worse. I'm sad since I like(d) this restaurant and the food quality seems to have gotten better..but if this is the current standard of service, please make it clear that a service charge of 10% is mandatory..do not try to rip off customers in a hard economic environment. It's not only your restaurant that's facing inflation. I'm hoping for the restaurant to stop this business practice of duping customers and actually focus on improving their service.

We asked for a receipt, which we received via a QR code and the receipt stated 10% tip of the total amount without consultation. We had to ask for sandwiches that were supposed to be included but were not. It all turned out fine in the end.

Unfortunately the cordon bleu is out of the deep fryer. This ruins the desired taste of veal. For the price you can expect correct preparation. But the service was very good.

The schnitzel was pounded so thin...only consisted of breading...it was cozy for my family...

Very rude/disproportionate and a rip-off, because I didn't click on tip when I paid, but the waiter clicked on tip without my knowledge and more money was debited from me without my knowledge. So be careful when paying by card. We also sat in a draft and very cool rooms. The doors were open due to defective ventilation

Unfortunately the breakfast buffet was very limited. There was only one type of cheese, hardly any fruit (only watermelon) no vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers); Too little choice at all.

Unfortunately I don't understand the many good reviews at all. Drinks came after about 30 minutes (waiter had to ask 3 times). Food came after 10 minutes. Schnitzel absolute disaster. Tastes like ready-made frozen food. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Nice place on a square with a large outdoor terrace. We had the Flammkuchen Klassik and Halloween for lunch and both were well prepared, sufficiently large and correctly priced. The place was quite full, but the only waiter really did his utmost to serve everyone quickly and he succeeded wonderfully.

Unfortunately not a good experience. The potato pancake with salmon was soggy due to the oily fish and not at all crispy. Then also a tiny portion. The meatloaf was served with a warm potato salad but cold vegetables! The waiter was hectic in serving us.

I had dinner with my team for the first time two years ago after a trade fair. Including a vegetarian and a vegan. Everyone had an absolutely fantastic meal and was super happy!! & Even today after 2 years I ate great food, everything was fresh and very tasty! Great service, great ambience. We would love to come back to Düsseldorf for that!!

Went there with a group of 35 people and everything went perfectly: we made the reservation online and after great communication via email, we had given all the food in advance. Everyone ate at the same time, no food was forgotten and the service was very attentive. The waiter was able to assign all the drinks correctly - very impressive! We'd love to come back!

We were there yesterday, it was packed in both the old town and the Schwan, I think they were at capacity. What was noticeable, however, was that the correspondence with the kitchen was very professional. Yes, you had to wait a bit, but everything was bearable, the staff was very friendly and (successfully) tried to make us happy. All the dishes at the table were good, the portions were absolutely fine and the drinks were at the right temperature. Because of our waiting time (which I didn't think was that bad), we each got a schnapps/coffee at the end). Gladly again, I think it wasn't my last visit to the Swan.

Unfortunately, one of our most expensive dishes (veal cordon bleu) was completely dried out.

Very bad food. I ate a salad bowl. The dressing was very bland, probably a finished product. The bread is old. It's a shame, I ate there a few years ago and loved it. Back then there was delicious potato salad with the schnitzel.

For the city center, this restaurant is very nice with a quiet location. The food was very good, my normal size Turkey Schnitzel Hot Sister was a lot. The service was on point, super friendly and attentive.

I generally like the idea of ​​dividing the breakfast buffet into a basic portion (€10.90) and additional add-ons. I find baked rolls, ham and cheese like in the youth hostel less cool. The add-ons we ordered all arrived one after the other and it took quite a long time...there are certainly much better breakfast options in the city.

Unfortunately, five years after my last review, I have to completely revise it. Maybe it's due to the Corona period that you are treated carelessly, I don't know. I was a regular guest at Burgplatz for years (before 2020) and knew the employees and management beyond work. That was nice. You could talk shop and exchange ideas. Up until that time, I was also employed in the catering industry and was a passionate lover of gastronomy. Applications, both written and oral, ended in empty promises or were not even accepted. My recent visit was the last at the Swan. Forever. In addition to the fact that a dollop of ketchup costs just 1.20 (it used to be free!) and drinks prices are on a motorway service station level, unlike before, mass processing was the order of the day, even though the European Championships are over. Have you eaten and don't want to drink any more? Then make room for the next ones! Such and similar behavioral patterns, including substandard working hours and poor pay, led me to turning my back on the industry in 2022. You can no longer afford to go out to eat anyway, but the employees still only get 12.41 EUR (gross, in Düsseldorf!!!), where you could take a two-week vacation for the rent. And then you complain about a shortage of skilled workers. They are always the same. From now on I'll be cooking myself. For the 4.30 for which I got a small bottle of Coke, I can manage the starter. 🥲

Nice terrace under the trees. We came here two days in a row for the breakfast buffet. Excellent price-quality ratio with the option to order all kinds of extras.

The staff is friendly but they have no idea how to make Flammkuchen. The schinkenspeck were uncooked bacon strips. When I asked the waiter, he said perhaps other restaurants make it this way. The flammkuchen in the google maps pictures look delicious, but mine was simply unappetizing. I wish I had taken a picture

The food was quite disappointing, with the currywurst the fries were still body warm and therefore not crispy. The Currywust sauce tasted very ketchup-like and was more sour than the cucumber salad served with it. The other dishes were ok. The service seemed overwhelmed. Far too much time between drinks and taking the food order. The food itself took forever to arrive. We even had to wait quite a while for an opportunity to pay. Everything should be better organized.

Well worth it to try the place. Good service. Good atmosphere.

The restaurant was booked as crew catering during the construction and dismantling phases of the EM Fanfest on Burgplatz. I am very happy that we were able to finish work a day earlier and that the hunger while working on site has finally come to an end. Unfortunately it was not possible to cook a pot of pasta during the regular meal times and we were only treated to sauce and salad to ensure we had enough energy for work throughout the day. Why do many stomachs remain empty? Because the food in front of the counter was open to everyone for self-service without any control of authorization to eat by the service staff and completely different people also served themselves here, so that there was nothing left for the people who had actually booked and you were simply making a miscalculation on our side and preferred to leave the people hungry. A few examples of many that I unfortunately had to experience in this restaurant and that piled up - until the very last day, the situation really didn't change in the slightest and they just continued like that. Wristbands or a service person handing out food would have solved the problem overnight. Instead, every day there was only a half-friendly shrug of the shoulders. Unfortunately, that was the worst food and service experience I have ever had in my entire professional career and also in my private life. I myself regularly work and am responsible for crew catering and I cannot understand in any way how one would want to offer and sell such a service while ignorantly refusing to solve the problem and preferring to continue observing it. Unfortunately, I cannot give a representative assessment of the food itself, as I never received a full plate at any time during the meal.

We were very disappointed. The food was lukewarm. The ingredients...the cheapest of the cheap. Sorry, there's no other way to say it. We had a chef with us who had an idea. The schnitzel = cheap schnitzel from the discounter. Pressed meat with industrial breading. The stamp is not fresh and also cold. Only the Altbier onion and the burger were tasty. Food is a matter of taste, but everyone can tell the difference between Ruck Zuck products and fresh products. What's more, at prices like these. The waiter was super friendly but is probably the least responsible for the work in the kitchen. Unless it was the boss himself. All in all, we cannot recommend it.

Grandma's style schnitzel was a ready-made product from the freezer, still half raw and practically without cheese. Price performance and service very poor.

Cozy restaurant near the Rhine! Service was fine! Veal cordon bleu was not a hit! Lots of breading, little schnitzel, but lots of ham and cheese on the inside! But I wouldn't want to eat it again! The colleagues' burgers looked good and the taste was also recommended.

The waiter and boss were somehow completely off track, watching the Germany game was a catastrophe. No decent seats, no air in it and the transmission was a disaster. Left straight away...

Super delicious food paired with a wonderful atmosphere right in the heart of Düsseldorf! I would go there again any time I'm in town. The staff is still by far the best thing in the whole store, unfortunately you rarely receive such a warm welcome these days! It's definitely worth a visit.

The Schwan is a traditional café/bistro/restaurant in the middle of the old town of Düsseldorf. The ambience is traditional and stylish at the same time, as well as very attractive and cozy. The employees were very friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a good selection. Access is barrier-free. There is a beer garden. The prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Visit on Japan Day. It's completely okay that things can go haywire on a day like this. Hence understanding for a slimmed down map. However, almost only really expensive dishes and, as a cheap alternative, pasta salad with turkey schnitzel. The smallest schnitzel ever was served with pasta salad that was floating in its own broth. And the toilet dilemma. It is written very large on the board that the toilet is only for guests OR 1 euro. The toilet attendants still insisted on the money. My companion was kindly allowed to use the toilet free of charge because he had already paid and could show the receipt - but he had to hand over the receipt. As a restaurant guest, I still had to pay before paying. I used to be used to something different.

I was there yesterday with my friend, on Japan Day. Japan Day is a very well-attended all-day festival that extends over a large part of the promenade on the Rhine. It was very busy and there was a special menu for that day. We ordered quite quickly and the food came within 10 minutes. That's far too fast for a restaurant, so the food tasted good. My friend had the Oberförster Schitzel with mushrooms and I had the Düsseldorfer onion mustard burger. The burger was just fine when served lukewarm, as were the fries. The same was the case with my friend. The schnitzel didn't taste like it was freshly made. (Probably warmed up the convection oven.) I'm disappointed and ashamed for recommending it to my friend because I already ate there once a year ago and the food was commensurate with the price. We paid about €55 yesterday, but yesterday's meal wasn't worth it in my opinion. It would have been nice if the restaurant had placed more emphasis on quality that day instead of sales... Nevertheless, despite the rush, the service staff were very nice, polite and quick. (Try to trick the customer by intrusively explaining where you can tip and not very subtly, well... it doesn't have to be that way)

Generally nothing special but quite nice. However, you have to accept waiting times here and expect that staff will bring the wrong thing and then tell the customer that they showed it wrong. So there is still a lot to learn when dealing with customers. You should also perhaps train the staff a little before letting them loose on customers. Food is ok... Ambience is quite nice. You can't go wrong with drinks ;) Toilet isn't exactly clean.

The fries were okay 👌, the drinks were cold 👍, the service was absolutely unacceptable. After 30 minutes no service, waited another 15 minutes after asking at the counter. Waited 30 minutes for drinks. Further service was only provided upon request at the counter. You had to get your own straws. Payment was no different. The store won't last long. In any case, we are no longer guests. - We rate this location as “No Go”.

Food overall not particularly good. My Berliner Currywurst was - even though I asked specifically - not made with a good bratwurst, but with another sausage (reddish on the inside).

The breakfast was a disaster! For the price I'd rather go to a bakery around the corner and only pay half the price for much better quality and better taste. We just got MINI BAKED BUNS! which is an absolute disgrace for the price! and the food looked like it had been sitting around somewhere unrefrigerated for hours. The service wasn't good either. Half of it was forgotten and came way too late. We had to say 5 times that we wanted to pay and had to wait 30 minutes until someone finally came. NEVER AGAIN!
