Super delicious food. I tried the tartare on brown bread and, as the main course, veal liver Berlin style. A little noisy because of the low ceilings, but uncomfortable.

Wow, I've rarely had such good steak. It's very o'clock in the slaughterhouse. Definitely reserve a table.

If you like good steak and delicious side dishes in a rustic atmosphere and a cheerful but friendly staff, you've come to the right place! The steaks have a hefty price, but are extremely tasty! Here the kitchen understands its product. The side dishes also tasted very good. The staff is resolute and very friendly. Great effort is made to accommodate all requests and to be present, which encourages a good tip. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the term “quaint” describes it perfectly! Unfortunately, the tables are far too small for the food served and, in my opinion, the very limited space in the rooms is used far too generously, making everything very cramped. It is advisable to make a reservation in advance so that you can enjoy the very good food in a pleasant environment! But remember to budget enough money for it. Thank you for the evening!

An interesting restaurant with lots of nooks and crannies. We had the cordon bleu from the daily menu and were disappointed by the quality and value for money.

We have been to the Schlachterbörse several times and we can easily recommend it. Great restaurant and great staff with great service. The food is of great quality and tastes great. Great atmosphere and individual furnishings. A must!

Best fillet steak I've ever eaten

Rustic ambience, perfectly prepared meat dishes with high-quality side dishes and everything is served in a super friendly and competent manner. We had ox chop and fillet tips stroganoff.

Quaint, old, winding and very good restaurant in Hamburg. Tables on several levels, in corners and niches. Very cozy and incredibly tasty. A must try is the homemade tartare. Unfortunately, the nice, open "old" boss is no longer with us, but his wife is still holding down the fort. A must when visiting Hamburg. Don't forget to reserve a table in advance. I have been there several times and am always impressed. Both thumbs up.

The various small dining rooms create a cozy and intimate atmosphere, and part of the restaurant even runs directly behind the counter - a truly original concept! The restaurant is a real insider tip. Excellent service. The starter carpaccio was first class. The food was once again delicious and worth every cent. The meat was rare, the way I like it. Side dishes were cooked to perfection.

You really are a guest here! With the greatest service, not fake friendliness, but honest and really good. You feel like you've been invited to a friend's house... the small fillet steak melted in your mouth, the fried potato was well seared and not too pale... there can be a dark one there, that's how I like it. We were a group of 5 and had different dishes. Everything came together and our visitor from Switzerland was also visibly thrilled! Simply great! A great evening among friends with friends. Every time I come to Hamburg, I make sure to have dinner at this unique place with sensational dishes, like the steak....

Last weekend the staff seemed overwhelmed by the number of guests. Our order was forgotten twice. The prices are absolutely excessive. The meat we had was rather mediocre, I know it much better at much cheaper prices. The vegetable portion for 12€ for 2 people in a bowl is actually a disgrace in terms of price and quantity in my opinion. I have never eaten so few vegetables at such a high price in my entire life. The standard side dish of spinach is not interchangeable. This means you pay for spinach, even if you can't tolerate it, and you have to pay extra for alternative vegetables. When we were asked as we were clearing away how we liked it and answered in a friendly manner that the meat was a bit tough, the criticism was not met with kindness. The boss herself told us that they had a great price-performance ratio and that the quality of the meat was great. Well, maybe she ate different meat that night than what we got. It's interesting that you meet a customer in this way. What should be highlighted positively is that the atmosphere is beautiful and very cozy. It's quaint inside, but also very narrow and therefore quickly noisy. Outside you sit in a dead end, far away from traffic. Very homely. And our dog was also allowed to come along and was given a bone as a welcome, which was super sweet and special. However, I have to say that I will not eat here again. I simply found the prices too unreasonable and the way criticism was handled very unprofessionally.

The steaks are beyond reproach. In summer you sit outside, the tables and chairs are a bit wobbly, the reason is the road surface. The waiters are all extremely friendly and can remember the entire table order, but there are a bit too few staff here too. Gladly again

I ate dinner with my family to celebrate something and the food was good, but the prices were astounding. Like really really high. The least expensive main dish on the whole menu was 35€. Also the sides were average and tastet more like 15€ max. Still nice there though.

A real experience. I can fully recommend it to anyone who is not a vegetarian!

Best meat in Hamburg for sure ! For me, its a must visit every time I’m in Hamburg. A bit pricey, but the quality of the food and the authentic feeling in the restaurant makes up for that.

The winding restaurant I know, which at the same time adds to its charm. Located in a cul-de-sac, you can eat outside or inside. The atmosphere is rustic and incredibly cozy, the waitresses and the boss are all super friendly and accommodating. You always have the feeling of eating with friends and being served with Hamburg charm. The food is super delicious. If you like to eat good meat, this is the right place for you. The side dishes are always delicious and we have never been disappointed. Reservations are necessary as the restaurant is always full. You can park either in the streets or directly at the wholesale market if you're lucky. Just say that you have a table at the butcher's exchange.

This institution is worth a visit!! The food was sensational and the ambience was unique. If I'm in Hamburg again, I'll be happy to come back.

Great place to enjoy well-kept meat. Literally. We had the Chateaubriand for 2 people. It couldn't be any better. Melts in your mouth. Side dishes are also great. Three small deductions: I was literally sitting shoulder to shoulder with the person sitting next to me from the other table. And they touched each other. So...everyone definitely doesn't like it that way...especially for the money, because: The prices are really quite steep. Especially for the starters too. 20 euros for a standard piece of bread with tartar... doll. And ordering food took over 30 minutes. Otherwise everything was great and I'll definitely be back. Just not that often...

The relationship between price and performance is not right for me. Food was ok but not without flaws. The cooking point wasn't hit for me and the savoy cabbage had no resemblance to the underlying vegetables for me. The spinach was good to eat. The view of the industrial plant or the street cannot be called “good atmosphere”. Added to this were the neighbors, who often drowned out their own conversations with their loudness. I've had much better evenings in Hamburg that cost significantly less.

Recommend to eat everything is great, local beer, and enjoy the time.

We were in Hamburg on a short trip. Looking for a steak house we ended up in the Schlachterbörse. Rustic atmosphere, charming service (Simone 😉) and great food. 1. Crab salad a must in Hamburg 2. 500g t bone steak, the top hit!!!To the point 3.creme brulee also had to be added. There were 4 of us and we paid almost 100 euros per person including drinks! Price performance completely justified!!! An absolutely great shop where everything is harmonious. We will be back definitely!! LG from Dresden

Today was the first time and certainly not the last time I ate there! The service was very good. Here you can feel comfortable. Very friendly and courteous waitress. Even the owner came to our table personally to greet us. The food tastes indescribably delicious. My steak was grilled to perfection. There really isn't anything more. Thanks again for this taste explosion. The prices are higher than other steakhouses. But I'm happy to pay more for this experience! Quality has its price. Thank you very much and see you next time!

Service a bit overwhelmed. Right at the beginning, a drink was forgotten and two too many potato side dishes were brought during the meal. At the end, after ordering the dessert menu, they said, "But please order promptly, we're pressed for time," but then it took them 20 minutes for an espresso and a latte macchiato. Food was ok, but not good value for money.

If you're in the mood for really good meat that's perfectly prepared, go to the butcher's exchange.

A steak restaurant with tradition and a history going back over 100 years. The food is great, the service is quick and friendly and it's definitely worth a visit. But make a reservation beforehand! The tartare as a starter is highly recommended.

Food was great. Really delicious. High prices. The waitress was super good and cool, the waiter was a bit dreamy. We had a discussion about supplements. They didn't bring enough, 1 bowl for two people, they said (it came twice with fried potatoes and once with spinach) for six people and then when they asked for more they were charged... That was outrageous, especially given the price of the tickets. But the food was extremely good.

What else is there to write about a cult restoration? I have valued the Schlachterbörse for over 25 years, the quality is consistently high and the waitresses are, as always, very attentive. All in all, my 5 stars are very well deserved. Keep it up.

The atmosphere is always worth a visit, the staff was committed, but the food was “only” good across the board this time. We paid €420 for this with 4 adults and 2 children.

My colleagues were thrilled! And although the selection of vegetarian dishes was manageable: Top quality even without meat! (I'm a vegetarian)

Excellent quality for 40 years, friendly service and great atmosphere

Unfortunately we had to wait outside for an hour for our reserved and confirmed table. Finding an alternative on Saturday evening without a reservation is virtually impossible, so we had no other choice. The steaks are good, not world class, ordinary restaurant quality. However, side dishes and starters are prepared like they were 30 years ago. Fried potatoes in a worn metal bowl, without bacon. The appetizers were simply served on a plate. This is what it looks like when I spread myself some bread for dinner. The mayonnaise for the fries is not homemade (a chef wouldn't need 5 minutes to make it), but is passed from table to table in Helmann's squeeze tube from the supermarket. Like in a snack bar... In principle there is nothing wrong with that. Unless you charge between 50 and 70 euros for your steaks, which is the case here. Then something has to come, which is not even remotely the case here. In that sense, this place seems to have had a very bad day, or to be completely overrated. The two stars belong solely to our waiter, who took excellent care of us. It's a shame that his commitment wasn't reflected in the food.

My boyfriend and I just had dinner there for his birthday. The staff was super friendly. The ambience is cozy, rustic and with a certain charm. When we asked, we were immediately recommended the right dishes to suit our taste, and we were not disappointed. The fillet of beef was crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside, it melted in your mouth and was really a treat for the palate. It tasted really delicious, even though I don't usually eat much beef and am very picky. My friend was served vanilla ice cream with a candle on the house when I mentioned it was his birthday. That was very attentive and we were really happy. So we recommend it 100 percent.

Unchanged after 20 years. Not everyone can do that either. Very nice staff, friendly and attentive. The steaks were great. When it came to side dishes, we found the leaf spinach to be the best, followed by bacon beans and at the end the savoy cabbage.

A must visit imo. Fantastic interior (lets call it old fashioned, but in a nice way). Service really friendly and impressive (we were a table of 8 and the waitress took our entire order without writing it down and it was all correct!). I had a filet steak, medium and it was cooked to perfection (as was everyone's else so I was told). Very tasty. The menu is of course very meat heavy due to the background of the immediate neighbourhood. They also had two vegetarian dishes on the menu. Seems also a popular place since it was a Wednesday and it was full. Best reserve a table if you are more than 2 people I guess. Almost forgot. We had the tartar as a shared appetiser and it was the best I ever tasted.

We had some great steaks in here this week. The service is a bit slow, but very friendly and this is not a place for q quick meal anyway! We shared mixed starters, and tartare for starters which were delicious, then most of us had the fillet steak cooked medium. Very very nice! Accompanied by fries, potatoes, and spinach. Would recommend.
