Schillings Hafenamt Hiddensee in Insel Hiddensee

Delicious food, a small gift shop, and the sunny spots in front of the house are the most popular. I like the soup and everything else too :-). I'll definitely be back. Sometimes you have to wait for a table.

The food was delicious. The self-service process took a bit of getting used to. The decor is inviting, and the staff is friendly.

We stopped by several times for a short break. The great atmosphere, located right by Kloster Harbor, and the friendly service will keep us coming back on our next visit to Hiddensee.

Everything was great so far. The fish was a bit too fatty for my taste. The burger was a bit dry around the edges because it was overcooked. Otherwise, it was delicious. The price is... not justified, considering it's self-service.

We actually wanted to eat ice cream like we used to. But then we decided to go for the delicious cake and coffee. The rooms are very nicely decorated.

After at least 6 years, we arrived back at the Kloster harbor and were warmly welcomed by the harbormaster. Now here's a great concert evening at the Kloster harbor.

Coffee was almost just water... Pepper sausages were like rubber... Unfortunately, only one star 😔

We were here for dinner in August 2025. The location, right on the marina in Kloster, is fantastic. The restaurant has a simple but quaint decor. Unfortunately, it's self-service only, and you have to pay when you order. But the food is very tasty, especially the organic beef dishes. The price and quality are also good. We'll definitely be back soon.

Located right on the edge of the monastery. The Aperol was okay, but it could use more Spritz. It's self-service.

A restaurant in a small harbor... you can't go wrong there, and the ambiance might make up for the quality of the food. Especially when you're on vacation. I wouldn't eat fish and chips here again; it was a lot of batter drowned in oil, not much fish. The steakhouse fries were okay, but the side salad was very tasty and crispy. The burgers were very good. The chef should google the fried potatoes again; there was nothing fried, just tossed in fat. Conclusion: Full, but not happy, but I did relax in the sun and watch the boats.

I've been coming to Hiddensee for years. Great, whether in Kloster or Vitte or at the harbor in Schaprode. It's unique how Mr. Schilling, his wife and family, run such wonderful restaurants. You feel very comfortable, and from Kloster to the office, the service is top-notch, friendly and courteous. Mr. Schilling, all the best for your business and satisfied guests like us. GOOD LUCK AND HEALTH for that. Respect for your work.

Has declined significantly over the years. Fries are no longer the same, portions are getting smaller, and prices remain the same.

Super friendly team, delicious food, we always enjoy coming here

We have been in Kloster with our boat for 8 weeks. Schillings Hafenamt is our first choice. There is great food and great service here. The service staff were always very nice and accommodating, even when there was a lot of traffic. Thank you for the wonderful time with you! We'll be back here next year!!

The wait was a bit long, and the restroom was broken. The food was delicious.

The food is very tasty, but the staff is quite unfriendly. I had a cheeseburger for €20, which was very good.

A lovely self-service restaurant that we can recommend with a clear conscience. We had the Öhe Burger and the Sunny Side-Up Burger. These were truly a feast for the palate. The staff were very friendly and the prices were OK.

Schillings' once excellent reputation has fallen by the wayside. The quality of the food has declined year after year. Today, there's little love and taste in the food. It's just another self-service restaurant. Hitthim, just 100 meters away, is now significantly better.

The place looked pretty good at first, but it started with the prices, which were a bit high for what you get. The ambiance also felt a bit fake, with numerous copies of some baroque oil paintings. The music was also a bit inappropriate. They were playing 2010s radio music, which, as I said, didn't suit the look of the establishment in my opinion. The food was also bad; the meat and fish portions were OK, but everything else left a lot to be desired. The side dishes, in my case the fries, were far too few and very mediocre, to put it mildly. The salad tasted strongly of dirt, and the dressing was very unevenly distributed. My 60-year-old mother had a carrot and goat cheese soup, which she had to leave because it tasted awful—and that for €8.90, and for not even a large bowl. Overall, the meal was a complete disappointment and not recommended, as it was tasteless, too expensive, and not even filling. The restaurant must have had a change of management, because compared to last year, it was very disappointing.

Excellent food, great service, very tasty punch (but be careful, it’s quite heavy ;) )!

We ate here almost every day during our vacation. Whether it was an aperitif, coffee and cake, or dinner, the food was delicious and the service was always friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter, pay, and take your drinks to your table. The food is brought to you. There's plenty of space inside and tables outside as well. Highly recommended.

The port authority punch is super delicious

Nice restaurant by the Kloster harbor. The ambiance is pleasant. The food is generally not bad, but they use a bit too much oil, which isn't really necessary and sometimes overpowers the flavor. Reservations are recommended for the evening.

The staff is very friendly and offers great service. However, we miss Ivonne and her cheerful personality. Nevertheless, I would still recommend the restaurant.

So the food was good, great shop with great products, self-service takes away a bit of the atmosphere with the queues but there is no deduction because of the 50 minute waiting time for matjes, bismarck and fish and chips.

Absolutely recommended. Today we were the first visitors of the 2025 season. Super friendly and everything was just perfect. We'll definitely be back. 5 stars

Very tasty vegetarian burger (unfortunately the fries are becoming less and less every year), relatively friendly staff. Unfortunately, the operators can't do anything for the arrogantly staring visitors to the port authority, but unfortunately they sometimes come across as snobby.

We felt comfortable and the service was super nice. The location and view are of course great.

Update: We were there again on October 15, 2024 and it was worlds better than the last time. The plates are full, the taste is great, the service is very good and the price is ok. After we failed miserably here on Sunday evening (it was full... but the staff wasn't able to release expired reservations either), we tried again on a Thursday and got seats, food and drink. The last time we were here was about 3 years ago and in comparison you can say: the food is good, it has been better and it feels like there is a little less on the plate. The cozy atmosphere suffered greatly. We were sitting inside and the loud and inappropriate music and the fact that the dish basket right next to our table was being emptied very noisily meant that we ate quickly and left.

Highly recommended! Great ambience, friendly staff, the food tastes very tasty and no matter whether veggie, meat or fish - everyone will find what they are looking for here.

We stopped by for a few drinks while our family explored the island. The Cuba Libre is mixed very well and professionally. The service is friendly and quick. If we come back to Kloster at some point, we will find ourselves here again. DJ Chris Pam wishes you greetings from Rostock

Dear Schilling family, Your gastronomy is a real enrichment for our favorite island. We were able to enjoy your service and cuisine at the harbor office, at Aunt Hedwig's and at Stranddistel. I would like to give a huge compliment to your service teams. ALL of the ladies we met were consistently lovely, courteous, funny and service-oriented. At least I can say that the fish & chips are really delicious! Even though I now find the price of almost €20 really outrageous. However, the portion is really big. Unfortunately it was so big that I had to return half of it. Then smaller prices and smaller portions are welcome! The service is always really great!

Modern atmosphere, a kind of small farm shop with various organic products integrated, beautifully located directly at the harbor, but self-service. The food is, as far as we can judge so far (we had salad, fish soup and two different burgers), very good, the wine is good and at the right temperature, which is unfortunately not a given on the island. The same applies to the extremely friendly service. Many of the other restaurants on the island can be hidden behind this. Ergo: definitely a recommendation.

We ate well, including a delicious salad with vegan shrimp. Unfortunately, the vegan range of coffee specialties is not continued. There is no milk alternative🙁

I'm excited! We wanted to try out the harbor dam because we didn't know it yet. The food was delicious, the portions were more than sufficient and the food was very nicely served. We had the salmon trout, the fish and chips and the goat cheese salad. We also liked the concept of self-service, as you could simply order when you decided and leave when you were finished. In addition, the restaurant at the harbor is in a great location and there is a nice, quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the evenings. Definitely a recommendation, we will definitely be back next time we visit Hiddensee!

Well, the food was good but the price was quite intense if you got there 2 minutes after opening time and were told that the door was still closed like the shop SORRY But according to the opening times, you would rather have a fish roll than eat there. You could only choose between cinnamon & sugar OR with a rice pudding Choosing applesauce is just a CHEEK, in my opinion

Very tasty, freshly prepared food, great view of the Kloster harbor, you can sit very comfortably.

Only 4 stars because it is self-service. But the food always takes us back to Kloster. Fish & chips are unbeatable. There is none better in England. Ambiance, you sit in the shade under parasols with a view of the marina and the ferry docks. Worth a trip to the monastery.

Were there today. The food was very tasty and the staff was very friendly. When we asked, we found out that the food was regionally produced. After tracking this on the internet I wonder why it isn't advertised anymore. It's very trendy and more information would be good. However, it is very busy all day long. We'd love to come back.

Raspberry yogurt cake 🍰🍰, simply recommended. It's really nice to sit there by the harbor. Self-service, but everything was great. The stairs are very high for older people, especially since you still have a full tablet in your hand. But as I said, highly recommended

Great place to stay. Delicious food and the portion is really huge (2 out of 3 didn't finish their portion). The staff is very friendly. Two thumbs up and highly recommended.

The food is great, the chef really does his magic in the small kitchen. The service behind the counter was also extremely on the ball, friendly and quick. If you want, you can still buy Hiddensee souvenirs. Unfortunately you are not served (ordering), the shop is self-service. But the food is brought.

A great place to eat, drink, feel good and listen to exciting stories from the neighboring table (mature, interesting, humorous people, often Hiddensee lovers and or sailors), so child-friendly/painting materials, books and casual, fabulous, tough, always friendly staff. The food is delicious, regional, seasonal and appetizing. The principle of self-service is modern, sociable and participatory. Once you've been there, you'll come back. The children's menu is great, selection, quality, love.

It is well known that many reviews are influenced by sensitivities and is not helpful. In my opinion, it doesn't matter what the stars say (including my rating) if you haven't tried it. Here the food is regional, fresh and yes, sometimes the preparation takes a little longer. Enjoy it

Bathroom dining. A burger for 23.90 euros or a few euros cheaper. Fat chips and boring burger composition. The carrot soup was sour and barely flavorful. The meat may be of high quality, but it still needs a proper cook who knows how to use it. Well, hardly anyone expects a proper kitchen next to the harbor toilet. A bit trendy for Berlin tourists. I'd rather go to Willi Drei Kutter and prepare myself a delicious fish. The store has one good thing: regional operators (here: a chain) get a slice of the rather small pie. The next shop from the same operator in Vitte in the Red House sells dried-out baked goods. Whoever likes it...

The positive first: The fish soup is fantastic. And now I'm taking a break. Everyone who came after us had already eaten. We still didn't have any food. There is self-service here, but only when ordering. The food is brought or not, as in our case. After a good half hour when I asked if we had been forgotten, the answer was a quiet grunt. When the food came, there was no explanation, certainly no apology, but an explanation as to why we didn't help the waiter (the one with the quiet grunt) to distribute the food correctly. I'll spare myself any further rudeness. Just saying, my hash browns were warmed up at least once, probably more often. It's a shame because the fish was really good. There was probably only one reason for all the discontent. There was no tip beforehand. I would have gladly given that if the service had been good. And as the saying goes: Don't praise the day before the evening and don't tip if the service is terrible.

Overall harmonious - if you like Aperol, definitely try it!

I had salmon fillet, I really like eating fish but it was very very greasy with everything. I've never had such a bad meal at this price.

I don't like to complain often or often....but unfortunately I have to say that apart from the ambience there wasn't much that was right....For that price I would have liked to have eaten something tasty....but unfortunately the burger was really bad... and the waitress couldn't tell me which burger was which...even after asking three times...

Always worth a visit. Excellent beers from the bottle - but also on tap. Very good fish dishes that are very well arranged. Nice service despite self-service. Belongs to the Schilling “empire”. But this is a guarantee of high quality.

Tasty food near the harbor, with a wonderful outside table. the best food among several restaurants I visited in Hiddensee.

The water buffalo burger is simply incredibly delicious. The French fries as well, although I don't like burgers or fries. The best meal in a long time.

Be sure to go there when you're here. Above all, the water buffalo burgers, which are bred in the immediate vicinity on the small island of Öhe, are a dream. Everything else here is also very tasty. There are even quite good wines. In my opinion, self-service isn't a big problem since the store isn't very big.

Went here for dinner and can only say good things. Great ambience...so lovingly decorated. The food was very tasty and the waitress was super friendly and on the ball. If you eat on Hiddensee then only at Schillings 👍😁

A good place for old and young! Even a table for little ones. Everything is uncomplicated and good value for money!

We were always happy in the harbor office but this year on October 12th the last time the portions are getting smaller and smaller as prices rise. But the crowning glory was the service staff, they were treated like supplicants, a few selected guests were served at the table despite self-service. Definitely a two-class society. A pity.

We've been here for dinner the last two days and absolutely love it. Nice staff, good food and a nice atmosphere - we felt comfortable and welcome at all times. The self-service didn't bother us at all - on the contrary, you decide for yourself when and whether you want to order something else. Fish & Chips are absolutely top notch - but we can also recommend the other dishes.

We were guests at "Schillings Hafenamt" for lunch with 6 people and can only report good things: very attractively furnished, good selection of food and drinks. Everything was very tasty, especially the burgers. We were also lucky with the service: because the house wasn't too full, food and drinks were delivered to our table.

The Schillings at the harbor in Kloster is always worth a visit, for example if you still have time before the ferry arrives. Here you can have coffee and cake, but also warm food. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. We have a clear recommendation from our side.

Sehr nettes Personal hier, die Küche ist auch sehr lecker und immer frische Produkte. Was ich ein bisschen schade finde ist, die Selbstbedienung. Für manch einen älteren schwer zu schaffen vom Tresen bis zum Tisch mit einem schweren Tablett.

Das Essen war wirklich gut. Fisch und Gemüse waren gut gegart und Qualität und Präsentation stimmen. Auch die Lage direkt am Hafen ist super schön. Leider gibt es keinen richtigen Service, sprich Selbstbedienung. Des weiteren waren nicht alle Tische sauber und man musste das Geschirr selber abräumen. Das wäre bei einem Imbisskonzept ja völlig in Ordnung, allerdings werden relativ hohe Restaurant Preise verlangt, was einen gewissen Service meiner Meinung nach voraussetzt. Das Personal war leider auch nicht besonders freundlich. Außerdem war eine Katze im Innenbereich am Nachbartisch, die nur auf Nachfrage und nicht selbstständig aus dem Restaurant / Imbiss gebracht wurde. Also alles in allem gutes Essen, super Lage, starkes Verbesserungspotential im Service.

Preislich für die Lage in Ordnung der Seelachsburger besteht zu 70-80% aus Panade, für meinen Geschmack to much. Kartoffelecken sind top.

Self-Service-Konzept ist immer ein Minus beim Service und manchmal Ursache für Missverständnisse. Das Essen war gut. Fish&Chips ist absolut zu empfehlen, der Fisch war genauso saftig, wie der Preis.

Ich bewerte nicht oft, aber heute ist es mal wieder so weit. Das Essen war lecker, aber das war’s auch schon. Selbstbedienung, 35 Minuten anstehen um Essen zu bestellen, dann ist das Essen auch noch aus….. was anderes bestellt….dann nochmal 1 Stunde auf das Essen gewartet…. dann nochmal 15 Minuten für ein neues Getränk angestanden….. beim anstehen hat man Zeit und kann in die Küche und die Lagerräume schauen, was da so auf dem Boden liegt…:-(und dann soll ich auch noch mein Geschirr abräumen…. Servicepersonal völlig überfordert, schade um das schöne Restaurant.

Tolle Lage am Hafen, leckeres Essen, grosse Portionen, freundliches Personal, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und mehrmals hier :-)

Der beste Ort in Kloster, um Mittags oder Abends gemütlich zu Essen und zu trinken. Direkt am Hafen gelegen verfügt das Hafenamt über einen relativ grossen Aussen- sowie Innenbereich. Sonnenschirme und Stuhlkissen sind vorhanden. Die Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen ist beachtlich und alles schmeckt hervorragend. Besonders loben möchte ich, das es einen Fixpreis für eine Tasse Kaffee und ein Stück Kuchen nach Wahl gibt, 6 Euro, dies habe ich so auf Hiddensee nirgends gesehen. Ansonsten sind die Preise moderat. Das Personal gibt immer ihr Bestes, ist freundlich, super flink und hübsch. Eine Toilette gibt es auch. Einzig genervt haben mich Urlauber, die sich 2 Stunden lang an einer Flasche Limonade festklammern und anderen den Platz wegnehmen, aber dafür kann das Hafenamt nichts, man muss dies eben nur berücksichtigen wenn man draussen sitzen möchte, Platzangebot ist ja nicht unendlich vorhanden. Ich kann somit diese Lokalität uneingeschränkt enpfehlen.

Ein Ort der Erholung, nach dem die Hürde der "Selbstbedienung" genommen ist & die Getränke ohne größere Schäden auf dem Tisch stehen, stellt sich ein Gefühl der Zufriedenheit ein. Nach wenigen Minuten bekommst du die volle Aufmerksamkeit... Deine Belohnung, auf eine sehr charmante Art wird serviert. Spätestens jetzt weiß man, eine sehr gute Entscheidung . Wir kommen sehr gern wieder.

Hier waren wir zwei Tage nacheinander um auf unsere Fähre zu warten. Trotz der Selbstbedienung wurden wir an der Theke schnell und freundlich bedient. Neben Kaffee und Kuchen gibt es auch allerhand warmes Leckeres zu essen. Dies wir zur jeweiligen Bestellnummer raus gebracht. Beim Kuchen war der Mandeltardes und der KirschSchokoKrispy Kuchen echt lecker und zu empfehlen und der Fischpott bei den warmen Speisen ebenfalls. Uns haben die Liegestühle in der Sonne sehr zugesagt. Also unbedingte Empfehlung!
