A sensational, charming restaurant right behind the dunes on Hiddensee beach! An unbeatable menu (lots of fish)! Friendly and attentive service!

The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and you immediately feel at ease. The owner, Tommy, seems very genuine and passionate. He and his team were really friendly and attentive, and the value for money was excellent. The food was delicious and varied. We highly recommend it. Unfortunately, my pike was quite rubbery and not very fresh... and for nearly 26 euros, it was a disgrace.

Without a reservation, we were seated in the heated "tent." Friendly and quick service. The room was nicely decorated. The prices reflect the high standards we've come to expect in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern :+( The food was plentiful and tasty. Card payments accepted.

We went for a drink at this really nice place, a beer and a large Coke, and then we got a big surprise when we got the bill. The large 0.5l Coke came to €7.50!!! We thought there was a mistake on the bill. But no, there wasn't. We were honestly shocked. It's an absolute disgrace and a rip-off. We'll never go there again.

The service is 5-star-plus: super friendly, super fast, and the food is super delicious. We'll definitely be back... They accommodate special requests without fail – absolutely perfect. You should definitely make a reservation. Probably the best restaurant on the island!

Beautifully situated in the dunes. The vegetarians among us had a bit of a limited selection, but the pike-perch, salmon, and hamburger schnitzel were very good. The waiter was friendly, but he was having some internal problems and came across as very nervous. All in all, good, perhaps even better at other times.

No. The food looked delicious, but when the fat green flies came and landed on my meat, I wasn't hungry anymore. The sea buckthorn cake was a regular sponge cake with cream and sea buckthorn syrup. The atmosphere also looked very dirty.

Review Summer 2025 The service staff is still on top form and makes excellent use of the available capacity. They try to please all guests. My zander was well-cooked, but the fried potatoes weren't so good – they felt like they weren't tossed long enough in the bag. The roasted flavors were missing for me. The side salad is nice, but nothing more. I'm guessing it's been done this way for the past 20 years. That's probably why my parents like it so much? 27 euros for a plate is also a statement that, in my opinion, isn't justified!!! The children's schnitzel for just under 9 euros is okay in terms of price, but the yield wasn't quite right for us. The rice pudding was a lot for the price. We've had less here on the island. The taste, however, wasn't up to our standards. Payment only by cash or debit card. We went there right after our day at the beach in Vitte. A quaint restaurant right behind the dunes. Lots of fresh fish on the menu, but also other home-style dishes. Simple, delicious, and reasonably priced! The staff is very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back.

Great location, right behind the dune. Its maritime ambiance is very inviting. Even without a reservation, I got a seat at a private table. Unfortunately, they were all out of pork steaks, but there were plenty of alternatives to choose from. Very friendly and competent service.

We had a delicious meal and received friendly service! The ambiance is quaint, the decor rather mismatched, but it has charm. We'd love to come back if it works out during our vacation. Otherwise, just the next time we're on Hiddensee.

The food was really great, and reasonable for the price. But €7.50 for a 0.5-liter Coke Zero is pretty cheeky. Unfortunately, it's not listed on the menu. Just the small one for €2.80. I don't need that again.

Anyone who considers the staff's sometimes boyish demeanor to be native humor can tolerate disrespect better. Nearly 65 euros for a fish platter for two people speaks for a progressive Syltization of the island.

The food was really delicious, and the service was super friendly. But charging an extra €8 for four fish fingers because there were only three on the children's plate is a real disgrace!

The taste of the dishes is merely average. The price of 0.5 liters of water from a carafe at €6.50 is outrageous (equivalent to 1 liter = approximately €13.00).

Very cozy, delicious ice cream or hot chocolate. The menu also had many great fish dishes, which we'll try next time :)

Unfortunately, the €28 fish platter was inedible. Three types of fish were overcooked, without any seasoning, and the fried potatoes were burnt, just like my money.

Very friendly, informal, and attentive service. The decor is rustic with a Hanseatic charm. The menu is presented at the table, featuring a variety of regional and fresh fish dishes. All dishes (gurnard and plaice) were very well prepared. The fish is freshly caught.

I’m torn – the food and service at Buhne XI are absolutely excellent – but of course, it all comes at a price 😄 With four drinks, two adult meals and two kids' portions, you’re quickly looking at €100. But hey, it’s holiday time 😉 To be fair, that kind of pricing seems to be the norm in most restaurants on Hiddensee. That said – we’ll definitely be back next year!

It's nice that the restaurant is busy, but it's a shame that guests are being turned away despite plenty of free tables. The schnitzel was very tough, and our food overall was below average.

The restaurant's location is wonderful, as is its design. Therefore, guests should expect higher prices – also due to the island location. Our fish dish was delicious!

Vegetarian dishes are advertised. The results are mediocre. Spinach Gorgonzola on toast for €20. Or maybe a salad. Disappointing. Otherwise, the prices are reasonable—no, honestly: completely overpriced! Wheat beer and water for €12.10.

Delicious fish dishes in a local setting. The cod fillet with sea buckthorn butter is especially recommended. The dessert is also impressive. If the food alone isn't enough, a helicopter ride over Rügen and Hiddensee is also on the menu. The sightseeing flight with the owner was spectacular; we felt very comfortable and safe. The food was great, especially the fish soup, which was excellent! Highly recommended! The service was excellent, and the ambiance was averagely "delicious." We were impressed by the price… for a small, light lunch (the two soups were listed as appetizers on the menu!), we felt around €50 was a lot. However, that wouldn't stop us from coming back again!

It was difficult to book seats, but when you're on vacation and can plan, you're flexible. A cozy, rustic restaurant completely adapted to “sea life”. There are all kinds of fish and the preparation time is okay. The food is so delicious. The staff is quick and friendly, we asked questions every time we went around... And no, you don't have a view of the Baltic Sea from Groyne XI. Why only 4 stars? It was the toilets. They were super clean, but unfortunately very narrow and only designed for one person. Both men's pelvises in one room is not possible. I know, but unfortunately crap.

Overall “OK”. You could say grade 3. You get full. Rather expensive, especially the drinks. Spritzer 0.5L €7.50! Fish (cod) is delicious in itself. Portion also sufficient. But for €26.90 per portion, that certain something is missing: salad rather bland and with ready-made sauce, fried potatoes dull, without seasoning. Sea buckthorn butter with fish seems like a finished product and doesn't go well with the fish. The menu is very large and also includes hearty meat dishes - actually too long to expect everything fresh and handmade. Service: fast and friendly-flaky; also OK. Ambiance: A hodgepodge of maritime things, overloaded and without a clear line. A little nicer inside than outside. Location is great, in the dunes. We expected more given the many positive reviews. Well-intentioned 3 out of 5 stars.

Well, there are probably nicer places on Hiddensee. Here, a hefty price is charged for the rickety, not really well-maintained atmosphere (rhubarb spritzer e.g. €7.50! or lentil soup for €14...etc.). Overall, the service staff tried very hard, but even though it wasn't full, we waited longer than 20 minutes for the drinks. In any case, the price-performance ratio is not right. Since we're on vacation, it didn't matter to us ;-) But in retrospect we would have preferred to go somewhere else.

We have been enthusiastic about this restaurant on Hiddensee for years - and we are happy to come back every time we visit. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and ideal for combining a walk by the sea with a relaxed meal. It's wonderful to sit outside, listen to the sound of the waves and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Behind the dunes you can smell fresh fish from the super fisherman - the dishes are simple but very tasty and there are often additional daily specials. The staff is friendly and uncomplicated, which makes the whole thing even more pleasant. If you're looking for honest, down-to-earth cuisine in a prime beach location, this is the place for you. A clear recommendation!

Nice fisherman-style pub, delicious food, fast service

The green herring was very broken down, oily and had a lot of bones. The included fish knife could hardly separate the fish flesh from the skin and bones. The potato pancakes were frozen, with some applesauce on the side. For just under 20 euros I would have expected a lot more in terms of decent fish. Shortly before Easter hardly anything was open here, at least it was warm in the hut. All in all, I will not come here again if possible.

The food was great. We (4 people) each ate something different, everything was plentiful and very tasty. The service was super friendly and knows how to entertain his guests, with humor and charm. It's always worth a visit!!!

The island is beautiful, but this location is amazing!!! The selection of food is phenomenal, and it tastes exactly the same! From small dishes to various salads, soups, meat and fish dishes, everything is available at really fair prices! Top 💯🤌👍 What is very cool..... the service!!! such excellent service!!! This deserves the most points!!! If it were possible to give multiple stars or points, you would have earned them all! Really great! 👍

Location and ambience is good. We used to go there regularly, but it has slowed down. Eating e.g. Frozen and put in the deep fryer... not as tasty anymore, now mass instead of quality. Wherever the causes can be found.

We had a really delicious meal here. The service was simply great, competent and friendly.

You definitely have to go if you are on Hiddensee

We were at Buhne 11 in 2024 the week before Easter. We ate delicious plaice and enjoyed the friendly service. For dessert, we had a coastal fire and a beautiful sunset.

Large selection, fair prices, cozy furnishings and top quality. Unfortunately, it's hard to do anything without a reservation, which definitely speaks for the Buhne 11 team!

Great rustic atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food

We just wanted to try out the Buhne XI again after many years. The quite high prices gave hope for good things. We had reserved a table for two in the evening. We arrived, the table was reserved, the service was quite friendly. The menu was ready. Unfortunately there is no paper map for the rest. We then asked each other around. The drinks came very quickly, as did the food afterwards. There is praise for that. However, the dripping wet glasses (beer and wine) seemed a bit strange. Maybe that's a quality feature. I would have preferred them dry. We ordered fried cod and pike fillet, each with fried potatoes and some salad. So the fried potatoes were heavily overrepresented on the plate. I would have preferred a little more fish for the price. The fried potatoes went like this. Unfortunately, quite a few of them were very cross. The cod was OK but the pike was not. Yes, pike can be a bit boney. But I expect a little more knowledge from a fish restaurant. I just expected that and was really looking forward to the fish and a nice evening. Pike can also be prepared in such a way that the bones are kept to a minimum. It starts with the size of the fish. And if the fish is bought already filleted, then you should pay a little more attention to the goods when purchasing. The goal should be to satisfy the guest… so that they might come back or report on their good experiences. We weren't happy today and in my opinion the food wasn't worth the price. When the waitress asked if everything was OK and I raised the problem of the pike fillet, he simply said that fish can have bones. This is known. Thanks. So we ate fried potatoes and fish differently. With a little sensitivity for the guest, one could have reacted differently to save the situation. Ultimately, the service cannot reflect the quality of the cuisine. Maybe that's not necessary as long as the stage is and continues to be well attended. Unfortunately we won't be back anytime soon. Too bad. But please let everyone decide for themselves...

We went on a day trip to Hiddensee. At lunchtime we stopped by the Buhne restaurant by chance. Casserole with mushrooms and spinach gratinated with Gorgonzola, small port. € 19.90 !!!, a maximum of 8 slices of mushrooms and spinach, on top of 2 half tomatoes. The casserole was also too salty. Plaice with fried potatoes and salad (all on one plate!!) We were expecting plaice served perfectly on a fish platter, fried potatoes in a bowl, salad separately in a small bowl and then € 27.00. We've never had such a bad meal and we definitely won't be coming back. The restaurant is not recommended.

Unique, trendy restaurant with a brilliant menu.

As always, our visit was in the Buhne XI class. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was friendly and quick. Despite the somewhat high prices, a visit to the groyne remains an absolute must for us on every Hiddensee holiday!

If I could, I would give 10 stars👍 Food great. Here it's fresh to the table. No matter what dish, it is prepared with love and skill. The service is competent and very hospitable. Anyone who is a guest on Hiddensee should have been a guest at Buhne 11.

Unfortunately it doesn't live up to expectations. Fried potatoes were not edible and the fish was drowned in the sauce. Unfortunately, the prices for the dishes are overpriced. Simply too much for 115€ for 4 people. Tip eat better on the ship, better and cheaper.

Great location, nice atmosphere. Staff quick and very friendly. The main courses we ordered from the rather large menu were very tasty. Everything fits so far... BUT: In our opinion, the price-performance ratio has some problems. To say 7.50 for a 0.5 cola is a bit cheeky. And to charge 7.90 for 1 piece of baked Camembert, which comes from those unspeakable packs of 4 from the discount store and is fried quickly, you need a lot of imagination to justify the price... We stayed at Buhne 11 based on a recommendation. Unfortunately, for the reasons mentioned above, we were only partially satisfied!

I passed stage XI by chance. After a short wait I got a table even without a reservation. The waiters were very friendly. The card was on a board or was given electronically via a QR code. The food was good but not exceptional. The portion (Baltic Sea plaice) was really very large. The ambience and the location directly in the dunes are great. Card payment is no problem.

We came across Buhne XI on our way to the beach on vacation. We particularly liked the atmosphere, rustic, smoky, pub-style. ;) The food was delicious, the staff was nice and smart. :) We would love to come back next time we visit the island. :)

The fish dishes were good but not as I expected the qualify to be. Apparently you need to order very quickly once you get there so please keep that in mind. With kids, it was not always easy over there but if they are big enough then they can head to the beach just across the bike/walking path along the beach.

We love the ambience. The Hamburger Schnitzel was delicious. The starter was also tasty. Yesterday we had a Swedish ice cream sundae, which was the best on the island. We would love to come back so we can try the other dishes too.

We ate there yesterday and were very disappointed. The salad consisted only of iceberg, a piece of tomato, canned corn and canned beans. The yogurt sauce came from a ready-made package. The fish was okay, but not great. Staff often cursed and seemed stressed. The almost illegible board was placed at the table. We were informed that we absolutely had to make reservations in the future. Even our twelve-year-old daughter immediately liked the fact that the schnitzel sauce came out of the package only mixed. We found it outrageous to pay 7.50 euros for 0.5 liters of cola. Since there was no drinks menu, we weren't aware of this beforehand. Our mistake, we could have asked beforehand. So for us the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right! Prices are unreasonable for the quality of the food!

Service and maritime flair were good, as was the location, unfortunately the food couldn't keep up. Overall, it was rather bland, the plaice was ok, the fried potatoes were unfortunately unseasoned and the schnitzel was not breaded and fried. Overall ok, but unfortunately not anymore.

We have been going to Hiddensee for years and always visit the groyne. This time total disappointment. The lentil stew turned out to be canned soup, and pretty bad too. That will be 15!! Euro called. If they don't feel like it anymore, they should stop.

Really very very expensive and not really recommended! Frozen cake from the microwave, large amounts of water bubbled up from the tap, service extremely educational... you come straight from the beach on half a dune of sand in front of the entrance and are warned that you should put on shoes on the terrace! Well, everyone can test it for themselves!
