Simply fantastic! Being served a fresh beer at 12:30 in the morning on Hiddensee is truly unique. A super relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and exactly what you want at that moment. Highly recommended!

A great place; it's best to book a table in advance, as the restaurant gets very busy in the evenings. The food is delicious and served quickly. There's a mini playground and a large plastic chess set nearby, and board and card games are available upon request. I recommend it 100% and we will definitely be back.

The food and ambiance are truly fantastic and delicious, and highly recommended. Unfortunately, our youngest child's food was brought to us but completely forgotten. When we asked for it, it arrived about 10 minutes later. Apart from a brief apology, not even a lollipop or anything similar for the youngest, nothing came, hence the deductions. The playground and chess board are right next door, making it very child-friendly.

A beautiful hotel in itself. Good location, great food. The whole hotel has been lovingly constructed. You can see and feel it, BUT most notably, I went there for a drink with a colleague. The owner was very nice and sat down with us straight away. The bottles were empty, and towards the end, he tried to take advantage of our lack of attention and rob us of an additional €80. He took the money that was on the table and left. It struck me! When I spoke to him, he said, "That's for the guys in the kitchen!" I demanded my money back, which he was reluctant to give back. I suspect that his colleagues hadn't seen any of it. The situation completely changed my view of the hotel! We were also surprised by the extremely high prices for the whiskey, which, strangely enough, wasn't on the menu. A real shame!

We've been coming here for several years, and it's always lovely. A warm welcome, friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, especially the fairies who prepare it. Gesine is the kindest soul. Always friendly, thoughtful, and helpful. We thank the wonderful hotel team for the wonderful time. We'll be back.

Highly recommended and what the kitchen conjures up is delicious. The menu used to be more typical of the island. Still, the food is delicious. We would be happy if simple cuisine came back, e.g. Bread and toppings etc.

We were there for a few days. Location and rooms are absolutely great. Breakfast is great. But you can't come to dinner if you're hungry 😅 The quality is great and the taste is A1. The chef does a great job, just a little bit 😋 Complaining on a high level. We'd love to come back.

We were guests at GODEWIND for 5 days. Apartment 5 was very nice and more than sufficient for a family of 4. The staff around the entire facility is very friendly and helpful. The location in Vitte is ideal because it is almost exactly in the middle of the island. We would have liked to book again for autumn, unfortunately nothing is available anymore. Nevertheless, we will come back at some point, whether you like it or not.😄

We chose the Godewind in Vitte for our last short vacation on Hiddensee. This holiday was our first visit to Hiddensee but perhaps not the last... Vitte is centrally located on the island and is therefore a good starting point for excursions... We booked the Godewind with breakfast, which offers a lot of choice and is plentiful. During the day we went on excursions and went hiking. However, you can also rent bikes here. What is very pleasant and relaxing is that there are no cars... In the evening there was delicious food in Godewind. There was a new daily menu here every day. It's very comfortable to sit here and you're served by friendly staff... Unfortunately Wednesday is a day off... All in all, you feel like you're in very familiar hands and we'd love to come back...

Wir waren nach 20 Jahren wieder mal auf der Insel Hiddensee. Das erste Mal über mehrere Tage mit Übernachtung im Hotel Godewind. Vom Empfang am Abend (20 Uhr) über das wunderbare Frühstücksbüffett bis zum Abendessen im Restaurant waren wir sehr positiv überrascht. Das Frühstücksbüfett empfängt einen mit selbstgemachten Salaten, Hausmacher-Schmalz und Leberwurst, Brot vom Bio-Bäcker und frisch aufgeschnitten Obst. Die Betten waren angenehm auch wenn eines der Kissen leider kein Federkissen war. Die Bedienung im Restaurant war freundlich und schnell. Das Essen sehr geschmackvoll angerichtet und lecker.

Ordered a fish plate... Unfortunately the fish was lukewarm at most. Reported to operator. He took the plate with him. After a short while I got the same plate back. This was apparently made hot in the oven/microwave. That's not possible. When I paid I was asked if everything was tasty... my answer was no, it wasn't. No reaction from the waitress. Not a word of apology for the situation or anything like that. 2 types of fish were rather neutral in taste. Fried potatoes very greasy. Absolutely not recommended.

Today my wife and I went to Godewind for dinner. We had expected a lot from this evening and were very disappointed. Beforehand we thought, well, is this really something for us? We were brought back to the real world while eating. The cod was anything but perfect. The fried potatoes were anything but tasty, I'm not talking about the fact that a lot of them were black. Accompaniments were 4 sprouts, half a small mini tomato and 2 tiny pieces of lemon. The pepper sauce didn't taste like anything. The disappointment was very big, especially given the price. We can give a maximum of 2 stars for this meal. We won't be going to the Godewind Restaurant again.

Last week I was on Hiddensee and in the GODEWIND for the first time. I booked a small single room with a bathroom/toilet and was very happy with it. Cozy little room under the roof. The breakfast buffet was very varied and had a huge selection. Staff friendly, all processes run completely smoothly. I'd love to come back!

I rate the room and the restaurant. Rooms: we have been guests at the GODEWIND over Christmas for several years. The prices rise and rise - unfortunately nothing changes. In 2023, defects in the room were reported so that they could be repaired. In 2024 we will notice the same defects - either not repaired or broken again. For 185€ per night, the deficiencies could perhaps be remedied. The room is worn out. Only the beds seem to have been modernized. The breakfast is still great and the service staff are pearls of gold! Unfortunately, there are apparently big changes in personnel every year - I can't say why. Restaurant: excellent cuisine, prices on the upper level, but understandable. Attentive service. The huge Christmas tree with wax candles creates a wonderful ambience. Unfortunately the room was not decorated at all. There used to be small trees or a bouquet with decorations. Maybe a lot is stolen - but it's still unfortunate. We went out and collected the pine branches lying below and made our own decorations. We understand that a catering company has to work economically. We think it is now at the expense of quality!

5 stars for the room, which was clean, the heating was running and there was also warm water with good pressure. Breakfast was also great with a large selection and strong coffee and even oat milk! Top! BUT big deduction for eating in the restaurant. The staff is super nice but the food wasn't good. The cod was soggy and there was no salad or anything fresh with it (to be expected for the price!) The sauce tasted like Knorr and the matjes also had no fresh side dishes (potatoes are not included). The prices are steep! You can tell that a lot of things are closed, especially in autumn/winter, and the restaurant has no competition. It's actually a shame, since the restaurant was really cozy.

Nice location, cozy atmosphere BUT the food is a disaster and way too expensive. The solyanka is as sweet as strawberry jam and costs 14.50 euros for five slices of beetroot. It's a shame because the restaurant is cozy and the service is friendly. If the cuisine and the prices are right again, we'll be happy to come by. Until then, we'll just stop by for a drink.

Wie jedes Jahr habe ich die Dorschpfanne bestellt, ich war sehr erfreut, daß ich die auch als kleinere Portion bekommen konnte. Wie immer einmalig lecker, wirklich eine ordentliche Portion Fisch drin, sehr zu empfehlen. Das Ambiente und der Service ist sehr gut, eine Reservierung aber auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert.

After reading some reviews about bad service, I was a bit skeptical about the place but it was totally the opposite for us. We were served by a very patient man although we were a big family eating there. The fish was excellent and the kids get to play outside on the playground. It doesn’t get better than this.

We were guests on site as a restaurant. We didn't have a reservation and had to take a quick seat at the beautiful bar. But it didn't take long until the innkeeper took us to a free table. I chose the corn-fed chicken with fried potatoes and peas. Here's what I want to get rid of: The service is just perfect. Everything is somehow made possible and the owner is very accommodating and really has everything in mind. He doesn't overlook anything and that makes the service perfect. The inn is beautifully designed and invites you to stop by. The food was okay but could be improved. Unfortunately, the chicken was a bit too dry, which the very tasty pepper sauce made up for it. The peas were on point and had a nice buttery note. The fried potatoes were okay but nothing special. There was just some sophistication missing. The chicken could have been refined with a little rosemary and garlic, as well as a little paprika. The fried potatoes could have used a little more salt. But overall it wasn't bad and with the service and ambience it was a nice evening. I give the food 3/5 stars, the service a 5/5 and the ambience 4.7/5. So I get a good 4.3 to 4.4 stars. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The Godewind restaurant in the hotel of the same name is great! The dishes are typical of the region but freshly interpreted. The children's meals are also really great! We went there with friends and were not disappointed. Stews, fried dishes and fish - everything was perfectly prepared with great ingredients. The ambience is great inside and out. The playground next door is also a highlight for the kids. We'd love to come back!

We stayed at Godewind for 3 weeks as part of our wedding. We can only highly recommend the Godewind. The location is perfect for the beach and also for people with dogs or nudists, as the beach area is also close by. For shopping there is an Edeka just around the corner. The harbor is about 7 - 10 minutes away. The food in the restaurant was very good and the ever-changing daily menu meant there was no chance of boredom. The apartments are clean and very tidy. The kitchen is well equipped for a bit of self-catering. However, we recommend that everyone brings something against mosquitoes, the beasts were very annoying, but that doesn't matter where you are on the island. Service was absolutely awesome. The staff is super friendly and supportive, even if you make a last-minute request as a somewhat stressed wedding couple, they always see what works. The preparation with the rooms for the guests and the food also went very well. We were immediately given a permanent contact person who organized everything with us. Even last-minute changes were still possible and it made the whole wedding so much easier. The wedding day went very well for us and everything went as planned. At this point we would like to thank Godewind again and we will definitely come back next year for our wedding anniversary. Absolute recommendation and if you book here, you haven't done anything wrong and can look forward to a great holiday.

We ate at Godewind and it was phenomenally delicious. Both the fish and meat dishes we chose were perfect! The waiters were also very friendly and accommodating. In all, an absolute recommendation!!!

We took the sailboat to Hiddensee Vitte. After a long day of sailing, we returned hungry and were well looked after.

Stopped by for a family dinner and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Service was very fast and efficient. We had a Lovely time. Recommend the pan fried Dorsch filet and I wanted to try Spargel before the season is over so they were nice just to do a side. Also, portion size is huge. Come hungry.

We were here to eat. A positive highlight is the very good, nice and friendly service. Therefore at least 2 points. The food, however, is not worth mentioning. I had a cod pan baked with cheese. The cod, well, good. Not enough cheese. And then there was an incredible amount of frozen vegetables with old potatoes in the food. A no go, especially in this price range. We won't be coming back again.

Ich war mit Freunden und Familie das erste Mal dort. Dass wir überhaupt dort waren, hat schon eigentlich nicht wirklich niemanden interessiert. Mit unseren Wintermänteln standen wir schön mitten im Raum und niemand wollte uns wohl an den Tisch weisen. Insgesamt rustikaler in die Jahre gekommener Charme. Das Essen war tatsächlich gut. Warum werde ich keinen Fuß mehr in das Restaurant setzen? Ich habe noch nie ein Restaurant erlebt, wo man sich so unwillkommen fühlt und augenscheinlich sogar stört. Ich habe aus der Not heraus für meine Tochter einen Apfelsaft am Tresen bestellt, weil mehrere vorherige Ansprachen gerade wohl nicht gepasst haben (im Sinne von gar nicht reagiert oder signalisiert, dass er gleich noch mal kommt). Daraufhin hat mich der anscheinend sich wieder zuständige fühlende Kellner mit dem Apfelsaft bringend dermaßen lautstark angegriffen (ich hätte ja wohl sehen müssen, dass er gerade Getränke abräumt etc). Ich wusste nichts mehr darauf zu erwidern… noch nie erlebt, möchte ich nicht und brauche ich nicht. Da ist mein Imbiss zuhause freundlicher wenn ich mir eine Pommes hole. Ich habe mich eher noch geärgert, dorthin Geld gebracht zu haben, weil man mit einem schlechten Gefühl nach Hause ging und das den eigentlich schön angedachten Abend überschattet hat.

Wir haben uns auf einen Urlaub auf Hiddensee im Godewind gefreut, wurden aber etwas enttäuscht. Alles fing auf der Fähre nach Vitte von Stralsund an: wir kamen spät an und riefen deshalb die Küche an, um zu fragen, ob wir noch essen können und uns wurde VERSICHERT, dass die Küche dann noch auf hat. Als wir dann doch etwas früher ankamen, wurde uns gesagt, dass die Küche 15min früher zugemacht hätte, da nichts los war. Wir konnten nurnoch Suppe bestellen. Als wir auf die Zimmer sind, war die Enttäuschung groß. 170€ pro Nacht für ein 12m² Zimmer. Vor den Fenstern überall Spinnennetzte, sieht aus, als hätte da niemand die Fenster geputzt, seit 100v.Chr! 😜 Keine Ahnung was sich der Architekt des Badezimmers dachte, aber ich finde, dass man nicht durch eine Badezimmertür durchgucken können sollte. Diese Glastür ist außerdem so schwer, dass sie so schnell zufällt wie ein Wanderfalke bei seinem Sturzflug. Man sollte für 170€ pro Nacht wenigstens Klopapierhalter bekommen. 😂👌 Außerdem geht es gar nicht, einen Mini-Kühlschrank in den Schrank einzubauen, da sich der ganze Schrank dann erhitzt, wie in der Sahara, das heißt, dass der Schrank (die einzige Verstaumöglichkeit im Zimmer) nicht nutzbar ist. Außerdem erhitzt sich nichtnur der Schrank, sondern auch die ganze Wohnung. Die Ecken der Glasnachttische sind so spitz, wie ein geschärftes Schwert. Auf dem Tisch stehen zwei Gläser, aber keine Wilkommens-Flasche. Das Schöne am Hotel ist das Frühstück und die Einrichtung beim Wartebereich. Die Auswahl ist nicht wirklich groß und die Preise relativ teuer. Sachen auf der Rechnung sind aufeinmal teurer als auf der Karte. Wenigstens ist das Personal sehr nett. Empfehlen würde ich nur die Ferienwohnungen, nicht das Hotel! Leider hat das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis beim Godewind stark nachgelassen, wie alles auf der einst sehr schönen Insel...😕 Der Eigentümer und das Personal sind allerdings sehr nett (wie bereits erwähnt).

Sehr freundliche Bedienung durch Chef und Kellner. Essen fein zubereitet und schmackhaft ohne große Wartezeit in der Nebensaison. Bratkartoffeln könnten crosser gebraten sein, aber sonst sehr gut. Preise nicht übertrieben für einen Touristenort. PS: Kartenzahlung nur „EC“, keine Kreditkarte, keine Möglichkeit, per Karte Trinkgeld zu geben, daher nur 4 statt 5 Sternen.

Toller Ort, tolles Hotel, tolle Gaststätte; im November hat ja sehr viel zu auf Hiddensee, da freut man sich umso mehr, diesen Ort zu besuchen. Geht ja fast nicht besser, nah am Hafen, nah am Strand, nah an Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und dann noch super netter Service von allen MitarbeiterInnen.

Das Essen ist sehr gut. Die Preise leider heftig. 3 Matjes Heringe mit etwas Bratkartoffeln 21,-€ Den Empfang der Gäste würde ich als merkwürdig bezeichnen. Und wenn es richtig voll ist wird alles getan so viel Gäste wie möglich zu bedienen, wodurch die Gemütlichkeit leidet,aber die Kasse gefüllt wird.

Keine Frage: es handelt sich um ein gemütliches Restaurant. Das Essen ist gut. Die Speisekarte bietet Fisch - und Fleischgerichte, Salate und eine kleine Auswahl an vegetarischen Gerichten. Wir sind seit mehreren Jahren wiederholt Gäste im Restaurants gewesen. Die Speisekarte ändert sich bezüglich der Gerichte leider überhaupt nicht. Im Sommer gibt es es allerdings eine Tageskarte. Was sich in diesem Jahr signifikant geändert hat, sind die Preise. Die Steigerung ist weder nachvollziehbar noch angemessen. Ein Kindergericht kostet 3 € mehr als in den vergangenen Jahren. So auch bei Eisbechern. Das Hamburger Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln und saurer Gurke für 26,50 €. Wir sind Stammgäste und wurden trotz Reservierung erstmal im Gang geparkt. Die Bedienungen sind freundlich und bemüht. Der Chef benimmt sich zuweilen übergriffig. Hier wird ausgenutzt, dass es nur wenige Restaurants auf der Insel sind. Das ist sehr schade.

Wir sollten beim Strand Hotel übernachten und den Schlüssel holt man sich beim Hotel Godewind. Wir kamen mit der Abendfähre an, holten den Schlüssel, hatten Hunger und haben uns einfach ins Restaurant Godewind gesetzt. Der Kollege, der zuvor hinterm Tresen stand und wie ein Betriebsleiter wirkte, setzte sich gleich an den Tisch neben uns, ich denke er und die Gäste kannten sich. Gemeinsam unterhielten sich diese Herren (da saß auch eine Frau aber sie hat nicht geredet), dass sie jetzt ihrem Schnitzel und ihrer Sauce keine rassistischen Bezeichnungen mehr geben dürfen. Sie haben das Wort natürlich ausformuliert aber das spare ich uns jetzt. Und dann kamen sie schnell zu dem N-Wort. Erst sagten sie "Gott sei Dank sitzen hier keine N****" und dann "N***** dürfen wir ja auch nicht mehr sagen, aber hier nicht, hier sagen wir es". Also wirklich eine krass gehässige, feindselige Atmosphäre, ein Albtraum. Nie wieder.

Hervorragende Küche! Fisch, Wild. Die Soljanka zur Vorspeise sehr zu empfehlen, die Fischsuppe mit viel frischem Fisch ein Genuss. Der Chef sehr zuvorkommend und trotz vollem Haus am Samstag gut gelaunt und bemüht um jeden Gast. Ein muss hier zu essen, wenn man auf Hiddensee ist. Wir haben reserviert- das war notwendig.

Eines der wenigen Restaurants, die im November noch geöffnet haben, die Coronaregeln werden strikt eingehalten, die Platzierung von Einzelgästen ist etwas ungemütlich direkt am Eingang. Kleine, aber gute Auswahl an Gerichten. Ich hatte Hering, der sehr gut war, die Bratkartoffeln waren aber eher lasch.

Traditionelles Haus mit guter Küche und stark umsatzorientierte Ausrichtung. Man wird trotz Reservierung gefragt ob einem 90 min zum Abendessen reichen. Die Gerichte sind überschaubar und durch eine Tageskarte ergänzt. Wir haben hier 2 mal gegessen und die Qualität der Speisen waren durchweg frisch und gut. Die Bedienung war soweit in Ordnung, jedoch merkt man den Druck und das Bemühen dich schnell abfertigen zu wollen. Die Dame am Empfang, deren Aufgabe uns bewusst ist, wäre mit einem Kurs in Kommunikation und Freundlichkeit zu bedenken.

Eine Katastrophe wenn der sogenante Chef sich am Einlass versucht. Das Chaos ist dann perfekt, weil er nur dummes Zeug quatscht und die Gäste keinen Platz zugewiesen bekommen. Bei der kleineren schwarzen Einlasskraft klappt es in kürzester Zeit sofort und freundlich. Da ich nun schon 30 Jahre dort hin fahre, kann ich dies glaube ich einschätzen. Essen und Getränke jedesmal immer Bestens. Wenn nur dieser Quatschkopf nicht wäre. Bis Septemmber ! MfG

Ich komme jedes Jahr nach Hiddensee und immer essen wir mind. 2-3 mal im Gedewind. Diesmal nur 1x Leider war durch die Corona Situation bereits um 17:30 das Team scheinbar im Stress... es war zwar noch nicht viel los, aber es lief nicht ganz so geschmeidig wie früher. Dennoch, das Essen wie gewohnt lecker und ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Freundliche Bedienung, leckeres Essen, Ambiente könnte Mal modernisiert werden, allerdings macht das Essen und die Freundlichkeit des Personals dies wett.
