It was a beautiful day. Even though we didn't book for lunch, we got a table with a sea view. Just relaxing and enjoying our drinks. Beautiful 😊☺️

Enjoy tea (with fresh mint and fresh ginger) and the amazing view. The service staff were exceptionally friendly. The price was enormous.

Unfortunately, we were also very disappointed. It was supposed to be a great birthday dinner. But the grilled sea bass was more than ordinary (I can make it much tastier at home), and the side dishes were nothing special. The same was true of the salmon. If it weren't for the incredible view and the friendly service, I wouldn't have given it a star. Sorry, I hate to write this, but it has to be said. At these prices, we wanted something special.

A thing like that on stilts in the middle of the mudflats, with the right crew and their love of salt and herring gulls, just has to be good.

We were initially a bit unsettled by some of the critical reviews, but we can only strongly disagree. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, the service was friendly and pleasantly relaxed, and the food was excellent from starter to dessert! We've been to several Michelin-starred and gourmet restaurants in Europe, and Salt & Silver offers really good value for money. The products used are very high quality (we happened to be visiting two suppliers the day before, so we know the prices of the products), and the entire preparation was also very well-crafted. It was simply soul food that was enjoyable. The drinks are also top-notch (from the signature Spritz to the very good Überquell Hell to the Espresso Martini). And on the subject of portion sizes... we were both quite full, and at over 1.90m and a good 90kg, I'm not a bad eater. ;)

A fantastic ambiance with a kitchen that uses high-quality products with exceptional craftsmanship, offering the kind of enjoyment you'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. We were truly disappointed this evening. The location and view from the terrace are, of course, great, but the food and service were disappointing for the extremely high price. As often before, we had the sea bass; both fish were tiny, super flat, with hardly any meat on them. For comparison, see picture 2, the sea bass from a few years ago, which was considerably larger. Service was almost nonexistent; unfortunately, none of us were satisfied and don't understand the good reviews. We also lacked the creativity in the dishes, which is to be desired at such a price.

Sensational. High above the water, enjoying the sun and the sea with exquisite food. Perfectly balanced, of the highest quality, carefully selected and not available everywhere. All ingredients are sourced locally, some of which we even had the opportunity to try. We opted for sheep's cheese as a starter, followed by a dry-aged steak and turbot. Be careful! Both dishes are sold by weight, and that can be misleading. You should expect at least 600-700g. In both cases! We knew what was going on and still enjoyed it. We'd happily go back and it's still an absolute insider tip.

We just ate something here and enjoyed the view. The location and the outdoor terrace are, of course, fantastic. But €14 for an espresso martini, and then there aren't even any coffee beans on it. €10 for a fish sandwich, and everything else, is incredibly expensive. Here, you pay for the view. We were rather rudely relocated to the terrace because the back area wasn't supposed to be occupied, even though the terrace was already packed.

A very nice experience. The fantastic location on stilts on the beach is something special indeed. The service was very friendly and attentive (sharing an appetizer was no problem at all) and the cataplana was delicious (we enjoyed the sauce until the last drop). The prices here are what they are, but you know that beforehand. The value is good. We'd be happy to come back. Too bad: dogs are only welcome until 5 p.m.?!

The prices are high, but I already knew that. The portion size of the French fries was disappointing, even for children. A price of over €8 for this portion is unreasonable. The competition offers much better options. Apart from that, the food was high quality. The view is impressive. The glass walls in the outdoor area provide protection from the wind. Unfortunately, dogs are only allowed until late afternoon. The service staff was professional and friendly. There are many stairs, so the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. There will be an additional charge for those arriving by car.

A colleague from Hamburg recommended that I eat here without fail. The Fish Fingers Royal for €24.50 were the most expensive fries, comparable to McDonald's, with five fish fingers I've ever ordered. The "royal" was just the price; a complete rip-off! As for the staff, I'm giving them five stars and only tipped based on that. For lunch with a glass of white wine spritzer and a tip, I paid €35—definitely too much. The ambiance is more like a snack bar, which wouldn't bother me if the prices weren't so steep and the menu promised gourmet quality. Conclusion: I won't be returning to this restaurant, and every cent is worth it for the amazing view and attentive service. It seemed like a few other people had a similar experience that evening, and the ratio of potatoes to fish seems to often outweigh the fish. Very disappointing.

We already knew one of the cookbooks and were keen to try the restaurant. We thought the food was really good! My favorite was the roasted feta cheese – combined with kumquat, red pepper cream, and yellow beetroot chutney, unusual and delicious! But the rest of the dishes were also really good. The steak was also perfectly grilled. The service was also very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely 😊

A dream wedding. Our expectations were exceeded. And the chef went the extra mile. A cool atmosphere with a stunning view. Every course was explained beforehand. Pictures say more than 1,000 words. The staff is friendly and our tables are served quickly. We had two meals, one very good, the other good (the vegetables were still too firm). The view is very nice.

Ambiguous. On the one hand: You get upset about the prices if you don't check online beforehand. Otherwise, you stay away or remain silent. So we deliberately "swallowed" €52 for a 450g steak (including bone). The quality wasn't outstanding either. On the other hand: The Salt & Silver Spritz and the Salt & Zero Spritz were excellent as aperitifs. So was the salmon fillet and the Mille Feuille for dessert. And you can't complain about €6.50 for a liter of sparkling water and €2.90 for an espresso. The service was very attentive and helpful despite being fully booked. Regarding the (unique) ambiance, I refer you to the other reviews to avoid repetition.

Really the worst thing I've eaten for that price in a long time. We had steak for 80 euros and three of us wanted to eat it - two children and me. The portion consisted of 30 percent bones. The meat was nothing special and there wasn't much of it (which wasn't a bad thing as it didn't taste good anyway). For that price you expect an explosion of flavor....the salmon with leek and mashed potatoes for 33 euros was also completely tasteless. At least the fries were tasty. But in the end, with tip, 280 euros without alcohol for 3 adults, including 2 women and 3 children, and then such a strange meal was very disappointing and even with the best will in the world you can't understand these reviews.....I mean, I also go to McDonald's on the highway and I'm not complaining because I expect and get McDonald's food there. And here I was expecting the highest level of cooking, but it could hardly have been done much worse....so extremely disappointed.

We wanted a bite to eat here in the evening. Despite what we considered to be a rather steep pricing policy, we found the portions to be very small. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed with the food overall. The ambiance, of course, thrives on its magnificent view and the location itself, but everything inside is a bit dated.

Average experience and nothing special! We reserved upfront, but were offered any random free table. Entrees were nothing special, mains/ fish was fresh and cooked on point prepared. However, overall it was too salty in my opinion, both Cataplana and sea bass.

The first visit was really good, but this time, unfortunately, things weren't quite as good. Little things were constantly forgotten, and the table wasn't clean – it's no fun getting your clothes dirty. Some dishes were really tasty, while others were noticeably weaker. Dogs are allowed during the day, but not in the evening... so silly! Sorry, I don't understand the beach concept. We were sent away in the evening, even though we were there with our dog at lunch... (The incident happened a while ago, but I just got upset about it again for a reason.)

The location is great! We received a very friendly welcome. The first waitress at our table was unfortunately a bit grumpy, but the second waitress was great! The cake was good. There are too many dogs there for our taste, which was unfortunately noticeable in the cleanliness – dog hair everywhere, both on the seats and on the table.

Really nice staff. The ceviche and the red wine sauce with the chicken were a dream. And then there was the view of the sunset by the sea. A perfect meal with a delicious espresso martini.

Great location right on the south beach of Sankt Peter Ording! We were there in the evening and had a fantastic sunset 🤩 The food was excellent and the service was friendly and fun! There were small dishes for the grandchildren. We'll be back 😊👍

The food was manageable in terms of quantity. I would have left hungry without an appetizer. Some of it was overseasoned for my taste. The staff was very friendly. I definitely recommend this restaurant. I had a kind of stew with muscles and catch of the day served in a bit hot tomato and pepper Sufo and potatos. Really delicious! Service was very frendly. The best food / price ratio we had in this area so far! A must have on your to do list

My husband was extremely happy with the steak, even though he would have ordered a smaller amount (if it had been possible) (not in retrospect, but in advance). I wasn't really full, so I would have had to order an appetizer. Everything is expensive, though. The view is great, but unfortunately, the many puddles also cause mosquitoes. Nice logo, nice water bottles. Very friendly staff. Card payments accepted.

Reservations are essential; it's easy to book through OpenTable. Service is very attentive and courteous. Wine and Jever Pilsner on tap are very good. You can also eat outside when the weather is nice.

Delicious food with a great view!

It was actually fully booked on Sunday evening, but even though I was alone, I still got a table on the terrace with a sea view. Service was perfect and fast. And the food hardly needs any words – simply perfect! The price and quality are spot on. Whenever I'm in St. Peter Ording, I eat there – even with large groups. The owners put their heart and soul into their work! Keep it up!

Great view overlooking the sea. The food is really delicious. Unfortunately, my steak wasn't medium as ordered, but English. Upon request, they recooked it, but unfortunately, the fries got cold in the meantime.

The atmosphere is great, the staff very friendly. The price-performance ratio and quality are abysmal. We had four pieces of cake, which were supposed to be apple and plum for €6.50 each, more pastry than anything else, and not even an eighth of an apple or plum on the slices. Two lattes, one of which was just below lukewarm and even then barely touched the coffee, an Aparol (not good at all), and two small cold drinks. All together, €60. I understand that you have to pay for the atmosphere, but this was absolutely terrible... any cookie or coffee at McDonald's is far better...

I was there with my family. It was a little expensive, but luckily I didn't have to pay. A great view, friendly and reliable staff, and the cappuccino was delicious. I also really liked the milk foam art. I'd love to come back. xx

The drinks are good. However, it takes forever to get anything, and if you dare to ask if your order was forgotten, you'll be treated like shit. Not recommended!!!

The ambiance and location are top-notch, and the service is also perfectly fine. However, the prices are really steep. If they're going to be so high, at least the quality and quantity should be right. €20 should be enough to fill you up, but unfortunately, that's difficult.

Best spot in SPO! Super friendly service, incredibly delicious food, and one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. Plus, that stunning view... Simply perfect! We only had a latte macchiatto here - the service was friendly, the view of the sea is beautiful, but paying €5.50 for a lukewarm latte plus glasses only 2/3 full is really steep.

We've been to Salt & Silver in SPO several times this year. The service team is always super friendly and excellent. Nice people with relaxed service… the food is consistently excellent and always delicious. Great starters, good main courses; we love the Cataplana – a delight. The ambiance on the beach in Sankt Peter Ording is wonderful with its panoramic view of the sea and beach. The restaurant is one of the wooden houses built on stilts, with the charming charm of a beach hut, with all the positive attributes. We absolutely love the place. Dogs are allowed until 5:00 p.m.

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The service was friendly, but the kitchen is closed from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – something that wasn't clear beforehand. Dogs are only allowed until 5 p.m., and a few hours before our 7 p.m. reservation, we suddenly received a message that our dog wasn't allowed. We just wanted a drink, but despite waiting over ten minutes, we weren't able to order anything – while the table next to us had already been told that we had to leave with our dog at 5 p.m. sharp. The overall situation was simply unpleasant. For us: 1 out of 5 stars. What a shame.

The location is unbeatable, no words 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I recommend listening to the story of Salt&Silver via various interviews/podcasts. It's been an incredible amount of effort and trouble to winterize the restaurant. After a walk on the mudflats, it's definitely worth stopping by and enjoying some delicious baked cake... Or other dishes...😉🤩

The food itself is good; you can't complain about the quality (although it is sparse in places). But it doesn't match the prices at all. In our opinion, it's completely overpriced. A child's portion of fries costs €7.50, chicken nuggets an extra €9... and we got a whopping three (with two small children). A carafe of filtered tap water cost a mere €6.50. The staff were friendly, but our first drink order was completely overlooked; it didn't arrive until well after we'd already had our food. Our second drink order only came partially. We canceled the missing portion because we wanted to leave. There are plenty of other restaurants in SPO with much better value for money. We certainly won't be coming back.

The staff here were great - very warm and welcoming, and accommodating! Our meals were incredibly tasty! And the views from the restaurant is breathtaking.

07/19/25 We actually wanted to have dinner together. The menu didn't appeal to us. I thought the menu used to be much more varied, two or three years ago, and, to be honest, cheaper. However, I didn't think it was good service that it took about 40 minutes for a pilsner and a coke. Therefore, only two points for service.

Not recommended! I long for the days of the "Seekiste" (Sea Chest). There, there was something delicious for everyone at normal prices. And the selection was huge! With almost the same expectations, we stormed into the "Salt & Silver" and were quite unpleasantly surprised. The menu is very small and the prices are significantly inflated. I'm happy to spend a little more money for good food. But these prices are out of this world!!!

Very tasty and perfectly prepared. The main course was excellent. The bread in the starter was a bit dry… but the main course really made up for it 🤩. The fish and meat were excellent and generously sized. Service was 3-stripe-friendly 👍

The stilt houses in Sankt Peter-Ording are incredibly relaxing, so this location is absolutely unbeatable. We haven't eaten this well in a long time; all three courses were handcrafted and of excellent quality. All the dishes tasted truly amazing! That's why I'm giving it a full 5 stars. I'm deducting one point for the ambiance, as the tables weren't clean and the seat cushions were stained and had burn holes. Even though this is a beach restaurant, the ambiance could reflect the sophisticated menu a bit. A glass with a candle would certainly add to the atmosphere of the location. I'm deducting two points for the service. We made a reservation for my 50th birthday via OpenTable. Here, you can state the reason for your visit. My husband did this and also wrote in the notes field that we were celebrating a birthday. This question creates expectations for the guest: a nicely set table or perhaps even an aperitif on the house. None of these things happened. Coming from a family of restaurateurs, I value good service with good communication skills. The two young waitresses here still have room to improve their customer interactions. A smile and a slightly less bored attitude would have been more pleasant for the guests. We certainly would have ordered more drinks if the service had been more attentive. This is, of course, just my personal perception of how welcome I felt as a guest; it may be different on other days. Overall, Salt & Silver by the Sea is an absolute recommendation if you want to enjoy a truly good meal. We'll be back!

Great food Top service It's possible to park on the beach, a great experience :-), but there's a fee, but it's a one-time fee.

The food was okay, but a bit bland and nothing special for the rather high price. The cleanliness of the restrooms left a lot to be desired.

The location is great, but the food has unfortunately deteriorated. We had a fresh, grilled halibut. The fish was no longer of the quality we were used to. It's a shame. The value for money has become negative.

A lovely ambiance with great seating; we sat on a lounge bench with a direct view of the beach and sea. The rhubarb spritzer was delicious, as was the homemade soft serve ice cream. It wasn't as sweet as other soft serve ice creams.

An ideal spot right on the beach. Since we didn't eat, I can't comment on the dishes. However, there was an interesting daily and evening menu. The staff was very friendly and attentive, something some in the restaurant industry could take a leaf out of their book.

I'm only giving it one star because the very tasty food was overpriced and the portions were too small. I think paying €40 for a main course plus a glass of beer is unreasonable. It was also very noisy inside, making conversation difficult.

The food is delicious but completely overpriced. A steak that costs €59 and isn't served hot isn't appropriate. You have to understand that the price is mainly for the amazing view.

Disappointment. We ordered turbot for three people, but unfortunately, we only got a small bowl of potatoes for three. The next table served the same portion for one. We couldn't reorder, and there was no apology.
