Great food with a beautiful panorama, for this price range the waiters could have a bit more style, the cutlery was thrown to us so to speak (not placed), the great food was served like it was at a chip shop...it's a shame

Always worth a trip, we had a visit from Lake Constance and had an eventful evening there, with delicious dishes and good wines. A restaurant with high quality and good service.

Service by untrained Asian girls, Riesling is not wine as an aperitif. The oysters are denigrated, very much in the style of Schicki-Micki! The pan fish was good, the fried potatoes were soggy. It used to be more rustic, but also better.

Vegetarian buger, with salad and coffee. Yummy. It was clean.

Atmosphere manageable when the sun is shining and ships are arriving. The Schulauer panfish was cleverly made - next time I would like to bake it a little more glassy. Gladly again!

The view makes up for it a lot, especially outside in summer. Food is tasty, service is friendly

It's a shame that the ship's welcome is so reserved. The declaration and national anthems can hardly be heard! The restaurant won a lot. Delicious food, very friendly waiters. A wonderful trip when the sun was shining. Also the fish sandwiches on the corner... very fresh and delicious.

The rooms, the large terrace on the Elbe, the ship welcome area and the entire ambience can be rated positively, but the quality of the lunch dishes did not match the exorbitant prices in any way. The variety of Glückstadt herring (the 3 fillets were passable) was due to a confused, visually unappealing pile of salad mix on the same plate. The amount of sauce for the fish was perhaps a tablespoon. But the fried potatoes were an absolute no go!! We found a small handful, maybe just 2-3 small potatoes, without bacon or onions, apparently ready-made potato slices, without any taste, possibly just briefly dipped in the deep fryer, for an extra €5.50 as an impudence!! A chef in a supposedly upscale restaurant should be able to at least produce sensible and tasty fried potatoes. We complained about the price for the small quantity when serving, but the waitress didn't respond. No fish knives were uncovered and when they were uncovered, the waitress didn't ask whether you were satisfied or whether you enjoyed it. She probably feared the answer. It's a shame, it's a nice restaurant, but we won't be coming back here to eat!

We are disappointed with how much the restaurant has lost quality in recent years. The food is average at best, sometimes even below average and "poor" considering the very high prices. Even the "so-called" fried potatoes, which you have to order as a very small portion for a whopping EUR 5.50, have the quality of a snack bar (without bacon and onions and not crispy). The service staff seemed bored and wasn't even interested in how we liked the food. Unfortunately, we will no longer visit the Schulauer Fährhaus and will not reserve it for business meals. Too bad.

Very expensive but there are 2 good alternatives (snacks) nearby.

The location is of course beautiful and worth a visit, you can safely save yourself a visit to a restaurant! Unfortunately, the food was an incredible disappointment - almost 30 euros for a veal schnitzel with fried potatoes and salad - given the price, expectations were high. Unfortunately, the food was unimaginative. The breading was boring, the fried potatoes had no flavor at all (I can't actually find the words for it) and the salad was a collection of sad leaves with an even dreary dressing - the radish carved into little flowers couldn't save this expensive disappointment either... I have rarely been so disillusioned and was almost glad that no one asked if it tasted good...

Once and never again! Or just for coffee and cake. It's really nice to sit right on the Elbe. Hence the four stars for the ambience. The cake was supposed to be good, but we didn't have it! We had the starter etagère for €23.50 per person. There was: a shrimp, a scallop (unseasoned), a perhaps 3x2cm large dried slice of smoked salmon, a 3x1cm slice of mackerel, a tablespoon of herring tartare and one dead oyster per person. Oh yes and a few leaves of lettuce and a few cocktail tomatoes. That doesn't work at all! The waiter probably didn't understand our criticism because of the existing language barrier. The wine wasn't refilled, the waitress looked at you and thought it was funny that you were waving your arms, but they didn't come! And if that wasn't disappointing enough, the sanitary facilities for the men and women were dirty Incidentally, yesterday in Hamburg, on the large Elbstrasse, we also ordered a starter etagère, which was a little lower in price but was fantastic in quality and very rich. With great service. So there is another way! Too bad!

An excellent excursion restaurant on the Elbe. We took the ship from Lühe Pier to Schulau across the Elbe. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. A nice little boat tour. The NEW Schulau ferry house with a ship greeting system at the Welcome Farm. is quite an experience, especially for our grandchildren. The staff is well trained in gastronomy and is very attentive but not intrusive. The entire complex invites you to linger. The outdoor dining area offers space for many guests. We were here on a weekday and there was enough space on the terrace with a very nice view of the Elbe. But on the weekend when the weather is nice, things can get a little crowded. The food is of excellent quality. and were on the table quickly. Prices are completely acceptable for this lovely place. Everything is top notch here

Repeat visit for breakfast: Nice place by the window with the best view on the Elbe and on incoming ships traditional greeting ceremonial. Even until unique today! The breakfast details offered were versatile and entirely geared towards the curiosity of visitors. On a gallery Smaller dishes were specially prepared offered individually. Just like you don't prepare breakfast at home... Very tasty. All in all, with one followed by a walk along the Elbe a memorable day during Easter.

For dinner for two.Ordered plaice, pure catastrophe, yellowish meat, complained, answer from the chef: It belongs like that, Matjes totally gray, I don't know Glücksstädter Matjes differently. No apology and no discount or possibly a drink on the house. Don't come back. We are currently at the Isi snack bar next door.

Parking only costs 80 cents per hour for restaurant visitors... That's totally ok now...

Located directly on the Elbe, the Schulauer Fährhaus offers a great view of the ships arriving and departing, which are greeted from a “wheelhouse” in the center of the restaurant by ex-captains with an anthem and interesting facts about the ship. A nice restaurant with a restaurant, large beer garden/terrace and great rooms for events, such as weddings, etc. Varied menu with “must have” fish specialties from the north, such as Hamburg panfish, plaice, herring, Labskaus, variations, all very good and tasty. A good and varied wine list and very good service complete the positive picture.

Unfortunately only three stars even if the service and ambience are top. We were there for brunch on August 18th, 2024 for a whopping €49.99. Breakfast was really great, everything was already ready at the table, freshly prepared egg variations were very tasty. But the warm offerings were the opposite, there was fish (hard underside), a type of meat (without taste), broccoli with a long stump, beans (a little too firm) wrapped in bacon, potatoes and a kind of rice risotto. I will go there again but only take the breakfast offer (coffee, orange juice and water included) for €28.99. Extras such as a glass of champagne are also offered as well as cappuccino etc. but are charged extra so that with two people it can quickly cost an extra €30. The lunch (warm food) for an additional charge of €20 urgently needs to be worked on.

It is located directly on the Elbe with boat connections to the Altes Land as well as to Hamburg to the Jetties. As always, the food was very good and plentiful. Since it is usually well attended, it can take a while to eat. There are indoor and outdoor areas. At first we were served in a nice and friendly manner. Then we were apparently continued to be served by a trainee. We received the three 0.7 water bottles we ordered, but no glasses. After our complaint we received this. Our food order for 7 people didn't work either. Although we ordered together, two of us got their food first. When they were almost finished, the rest got their food. Something like that is somehow uncool, even though people have apologized for it. And with the roast beef, the tartar sauce was initially forgotten. And I've had better panfish too. And significantly cheaper, but that is probably due to the location and the ship greeting system. It's OK.

The location of the Willkomm Höft on the Elbe is very nice. However, the view is severely limited by the vegetation on the water. A significant step backwards would be a big win here. Unfortunately, on the covered terrace, the explanations and music can only be understood in fragments. The acoustic concept should definitely be revised. The food itself was good and tasty, but the panfish was extremely heavy on the stomach. The service itself was quick, but not very attentive.

We have visited the Schulau ferry house a few times. Every visit was a special experience. The dishes are very tasty. The service is great. The ship welcome facility is unique and something very special.

I can highly recommend going to the snack truck.

Disappointing experience at the Schulau ferry house Tourist trap? Above average prices! Below average quality! On my last visit to the Schulauer Fährhaus, I was unfortunately not very impressed by the quality on offer, which was disproportionate to the high prices. The chanterelle cream soup was disappointing: it was not thick, neither with cream nor with starch, and tasted more like water than chanterelles. In addition, the chanterelles were not fried as described in the menu, and the announced black bread croutons were missing from the soup 🫤 and there were none under the soup cup. My father tried the fish stew, but there was no spice at all. There was also a familiar smell of lobster paste, and the color of the stew was very reminiscent of it. As experienced chefs, we know that there are numerous ways to add false intensity to a dish, and it's disappointing to see so much potential go untapped. Unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the preparation doesn't make the overall picture any better and leaves little room for enjoyment of the food. The schnitzel was acceptable, but rather disappointing for a Viennese schnitzel. It lacked the desired airiness and the taste was also not convincing. Perhaps the dish should simply be offered as "schnitzel" as it lacked that classic character. The attractive presentation should be highlighted positively, but unfortunately the entire meal was quite bland and lacked basic seasoning. The herring was a real disappointment. Unfortunately it was not the authentic Dutch matjes as stated in the menu. In addition, the housewife sauce had a taste that was reminiscent of a ready-made product and was also far too sweet! I have many positive memories of the Altes Schulau Fährhaus from my childhood, but my current visit was a bitter disappointment and makes me want to distance myself from it. The service was tried hard, but the language barrier seemed to be an obstacle. Overall, I find the prices to be unreasonably high considering the performance offered. The highlight of our lunchtime visit was without a doubt the selection of tarts and cakes. If only we had stuck with it from the start! 🙃 The four of us paid 270 euros at lunchtime.

Had a 3-course menu with soup there for lunch yesterday and didn't regret it 👍very well prepared and very tasty, but a bit more expensive. We really liked it there and so we went to the house's beer garden to have coffee again today. This time too we were treated and served nicely and courteously. Definitely thumbs up 👍

Cool location. Food very good, but in the higher price segment. Very good view of ships passing by. Unfortunately, there is no advance notice as to when which large ships will pass by. Service only 4 stars because no free choice of seats was possible. It was only served in one half of the terrace.

Anyone who likes the wonderful location, the view of the Elbe, Welcome Höft and the Schulau harbor pier will be happy to be a guest here. The prices are Quite high. However, the selection and food are good. We were a bit surprised that you pay a parking fee as a guest.

Interesting approach that people from Vietnam complete a two-year training here. We really liked that :) The fish sandwiches we ordered at the snack bar were very tasty, would be happy again!

Fantastic. A great stay is possible in any weather, both indoors and on the weather-protected terrace outside or in the beer garden. The restaurant has excellent quality food and presentation. The turbot was filleted at the table. The big highlight here is of course the ship welcome by experienced captains, who pass on a lot of interesting information via loudspeaker to all the "pots" that pass the Elbe and welcome each ship with the national anthem.

A very outdated traditional house with an impersonal, unfriendly service employee of eastern origin who directed us to the Isi Fisch Imbiss (which is good and the employees are attentive and friendly) because this QR code beer garden doesn't work, we were told in the most unfriendly manner "If you can do it then do it. No WiFi internet here" IF something doesn't work, why don't you close this area? Is it too far for the service??? Such “PROFESSIONALS” are more harmful than a pandemic

Large fries €9.80 which corresponds to a small portion at McDonalds, which is an extortion!!! Asked 3 times for an empty water glass with a spoon. 1 time when ordering 2 times when bringing the order 3 times in between. 30 minutes later nothing happened, poor service

We celebrated our wedding there. It was beautifully prepared and carried out. Unfortunately it was very warm but it didn't dampen the mood.

A unique place that has unfortunately completely lost its flair since our last visit. Rarely have we had such a bad meal at such an expensive price. Even when asked, there wasn't even a piece of bread with the oysters. The Alster water was not cold. There was also no bread for the Glueckstaedter Matjes selection. The starter and main course were served at once. The whole thing gives the impression of having become a typical “tourist rip-off”. Unfortunately, the famous announcements to welcome the ships were no longer carried out. When we asked about the service, different employees gave different answers to both the food and the announcements. Never again!

The best fish sandwiches in the area are available here. Here, too, the price is a bit high, but still within reason. You can do it when you're there. The only negative thing is that there is no such thing as wet wipes to get the smell out of your hands. That would be an advertising measure of a few cents that would be well received, just as a tip.

Restaurant on the banks of the Elbe. As a curious note, it usually greets every boat that navigates the river with the raising and lowering of flags from its mast. Friendly, polite and correct treatment. We just drink.

We were surprised to find that sea going ships are welcomed into the river elbe hamburg....they explain the shipping situations, play a piece of music as part of the welcome and goodbye wonderful experience which we would like to do again time permitting.

You can really eat very well there! You can also get great cake there in the afternoon! A very nice view directly onto the Elbe! You will see us there more often! Highly recommended!!

I actually wanted to take photos of ships but due to low tide there are only two Kuemos to photograph. You can eat well here, You can also relax here. Although there was a bit of a lack of ship activity. I had to go to Bremen for 3 days on business. Bremen is so disgustingly dirty and full of drug addicts. You can only recommend going to the provinces, everything works here and it is Clean and a pleasant atmosphere.

On our wedding day we wanted to eat there in peace and spend a few quiet hours, the Asian service staff were inexperienced and certainly not skilled workers. My water came without a glass, no fish cutlery, my special request (plaice without crabs) was ignored, the salad was drowned in vinegar dressing and was not edible, unfortunately the Wedel harbor festival was taking place, which finished us off.

First and foremost, you look at the ships and the ambience. However, the dishes are not only visually and qualitatively very well prepared. Prices are in the high to very high segment. The service is always attentive. Occasional language problems with Asian backgrounds. Very lucrative festival and social rooms. As an old Hamburger, the location has “cult status” for me. People usually go there with valued guests or for special occasions.

The banquet hall looks very nice, everything has been well modernized. The lower terrace is only for online and app orders, so the question is who? The upper areas are suitable for wheelchair users, but unfortunately the lower areas are not. The beer garden was closed. You, prices for cakes are extremely high.

An impression of Hamburg that the average tourist probably doesn't get to see. We were here with friends not in the ferry house, but at the adjacent ship welcoming area Willkomm-Höft Wedel and watched the ships go by while enjoying delicious fish sandwiches. If a larger cargo ship comes by, a small welcome serenade in the form of the national anthem is played here. A nice tradition 😊

I expressly do not rate the beautiful restaurant, but rather the touristy place Willkomm Höft: not worth it. There is neither a display board on site that announces arriving ships nor on their homepage. We took two public buses to get there from the center for a long time. No arrival for several hours, so no greeting, no anthem... Without that, the place is nothing special.

A great place to unwind on sunny days. When it rains and leaves cold wind, it is better to have a jacket with you. Because on the terrace, which is well protected, you freeze. The breakfast can be expanded for the price. The cake stand is ok, but the special delicacies don't cut it. The buffet for eggs etc. was really well done, unfortunately the fried eggs and poached egg on toast with avocado and hollandais sauce were really tasty, unfortunately cold. Rolls were baked and not fresh from the bakery. Plus point 1l carafe of water, orange juice and coffee. That hardly exists anymore. Please try it anyway.

Unfortunately no longer recommended. Were there for coffee and cake. Unfriendly and unmotivated waiter. The napkins were stuck on the plates under the cake, so they were smeared. We asked for new napkins but they weren't brought to us.
