The food came to the table lukewarm. What we weren't told was that we only had the table for 2 hours. The bill was brought to our table without being asked and stated that the table would be reserved for someone else in 10 minutes. An absolute NO GO jm!!! Unfortunately, spending a cozy evening with friends is not possible in this restaurant.

An institution for meat lovers in Munich and particularly known for its spare ribs. If several people decide to have spare ribs, they are served generously in the middle on a board. Personally, the seasoning of the ribs was a bit too sweet for me - but that's a matter of taste. Service was very committed and routine.

Dear long-time friends and guests of Rusticana, Today it was that time again after a long, tiring day and we're looking forward to sensational spare ribs at Rusticana and making our way through the traffic-clogged city full of anticipation for a delicious meal. After having enjoyed coming there as a guest for 25 years, today I was completely disillusioned and disappointed! They were kind enough to reserve a place for us at the bar, which was very friendly and attentive because the crowds are really big every day. Based on my last experiences as a guest there, when I ordered, I asked that the spare ribs come fresh and hot from the grill onto the plate or the wooden plate, because I have had the problem with lukewarm to cold spare ribs several times. This is due to the situation that there is only a small grill and a lot of "preparation" is done there and then temporarily stored in a warming oven. The ribs from the grill used to come to the table straight away! In addition to the spare ribs, we also ordered a salad and a baked potato, which were very tasty. Unfortunately the spare ribs didn't come for ages and so the baked potato just got cold. Then the spareribs finally came and I realized again that they were unfortunately only lukewarm. What a disappointment despite previous announcements and requests to serve these hot from the oven. Now I had to ask for the spareribs to be heated again and they disappeared back into the kitchen. The result after 10 minutes was totally dried-out, bad-tasting spare ribs that probably just ended up in the microwave to heat the whole thing up again. Since I'm actually not a fan of posting negative reviews on the Internet, I of course tried to talk to both the kitchen and the lady behind the bar, at a distance from the guests. As to whether any solution could be found, this was answered in the negative and thanked for the tip. No replacement, refund or anything similar. We then paid immediately after we were asked to vacate our seats, which was justified because more guests came. When I paid, I was advised not to visit the restaurant again. A true masterpiece of hospitality after 25 years of loyalty. I think that if you are no longer able to serve your core business, namely spareribs, which you have known for decades, hot and fresh to the table, then you should look for another field of activity. After 25 years, this was my last visit to Rustikana. As I said, I was also advised not to enter the restaurant again. I tried to solve everything in a direct, communicative way. However, they weren't open to that, so I'm now writing here what all Rusticana visitors should pay attention to in the future. Watch how long your spare ribs disappear from the grill into the kitchen and when they are served, check whether they are really hot. Otherwise I would let them go back. And of course I was very disappointed with the food, but even more disappointing is the way you are treated as a guest and the fact that it was not possible to find a satisfactory solution for everyone in a communicative, human way. Put the receipt here so that you can see that I actually visited the restaurant today. I'm curious whether there will be any reaction from the restaurant.

This is the secret place in Munich. A very tiny Restaurant with the best ribs in town. You need a reservation to have dinner here, it's always full. The food here is great and for Munich affordable. Not a Luxury place at all, but a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Service is friendly and swift, but you need some patience when it's very crowded.

I went to book online, but left it perhaps too late. Tried my luck and ubered to the spot whereupon I informed the staff I would dine alone and that a friend may join later. Staff were accomodating even though busy. They found me a spot at the bar. I ordered a dunkel, the spare ribs, pan-fried champignons and onion rings. Ribs were done on charcoal so smoky and super tender. All the food was tasty and fresh. Was also good value for a Munich eatery. Place was cosy but had a great traditional atmosphere with friendly staff. Very pleased with my dinner choice for my last night in Munich. Bravo Rusticana

Ordered 6 portions of spare ribs on Sunday and no 6 portions were simply cheated. Delivered cold although picked up on time. No meat, just bones, it wasn't barbecue sauce but ketchup. 3 out of 4 probably order the spare ribs here, we ordered steaks and a few side dishes and that was a mistake. My steak medium was raw inside, the beans were cold and the bacon was indistinguishable from coal. My first attempt was to eat steaks somewhere else, but it was nothing.

Steaks were tender but way too spicy, so ask them to save on the spice. Spare ribs were ok, but the BBQ sauce was too sweet. Country wedes were far too large and soft, and with the same spices as the steaks. Service... we don't talk about that, it was almost as if we weren't welcome. The atmosphere was very limited in the outfields. So I can't recommend the place.

At that time like today. A meeting place for “meat worshipers” in a rustic atmosphere. The landlady is a friendly hostess, the staff is attentive and quick despite the high number of guests, and the food is great. Pleasantly mixed audience: from families to study groups (zero chic). They all have one thing in common: they love Rusticana spare ribs. Reservation in advance by email is recommended. But even without it you will receive a friendly welcome. Prices are moderate for Munich standards. Parking is available in the Werksviertel car park. Then another 10 minutes on foot or one stop by bus.

Told the host that we had somewhere to he and only had 45min to eat they said it was fine. It took them 15min to take the order and another 45min to cook it. At the 35min mark I told the server that I would pay for the appetizer and the drinks but I had an event and had to leave but she said that “by law” in Germany they can take 45min to cook the food and the ribs were dry. Don’t waste your time coming here.

Furthermore, the side dishes that are offered at an additional cost are quite ordinary and do not stand out. However, what really disappoints is the lack of adequate facilities and services. The lack of air conditioning is particularly unbearable on a hot summer day and makes you sweat profusely while eating, turning the wine into an unwanted version of mulled wine due to the stifling 30°C room temperature. Furthermore, the service was rudimentary at best. The staff unceremoniously placed the plates on our table and asked us to distribute them ourselves. They were also difficult to reach and seemed eager to leave immediately after any brief interaction. This lack of attention and basic service further detracted from the entire dining experience. --- English: The ribs were tasty but fell short of being remarkable. For those accustomed to authentic smoked BBQ ribs, these might not meet your expectations. Additionally, the sides, offered at an extra cost, are fairly ordinary and don’t stand out. Unfortunately, Rusticana is no longer what it used to be. Waitress very strange but at least tried hard. Ordered a small and a large naturally cloudy apple spritzer, only the small one was naturally cloudy. When asked, it was said that only the small apple spritzer is naturally cloudy; this is not possible with the large one because the large one comes from a barrel. Unfortunately the steak was cold. At the end I ordered a cappuccino and the waitress replied: Unfortunately it's no longer available because there were too many complaints because the milk was sour too often.

We were very impressed with the Rusticana in Munich! Very nice, Bavarian local with extremely quick staff. For consumption, as you can see in the picture, we had a pork spareribs BBQ platter for 4 people and potatoes as a side dish. The meat was extremely juicy and tender and was super easy to nibble off the bones. Afterwards, with the potatoes as a side dish, we were more than pleasantly full. In the end, we paid around €40-45 per head with a beer and a glass of red wine each, without a tip, which was completely fine. We will definitely stop by again in the future.

Loved this place. The ribs were excellent - tender with a bite and the tangy BBQ saucy was slightly vinegary and very moreish. Reserve in advanced as it was fully booked. Important: usually nothing works here without a reservation. It's difficult to drop by spontaneously and snag a table if you're lucky. The food is sensational, the service is quick and friendly. The restaurant has been around for almost 50 years now and its rustic style is ideal for eating the best spare ribs and steaks. The spare ribs are very juicy and the sauce is awesome, a little smoky and spicy. My 500g RibEye Steak was ordered medium and arrived perfectly medium. The side dish, a large potato, is also very tasty, as is the dessert. I would like to come here again. Conclusion: If you're in the mood for really hot, juicy, delicious meat, you definitely have to go to Rustikana. Update after Corona: Remained true to its concept even after years. Became a little more expensive due to inflation. But the spareribs evening with the boys was great. Still recommended

I finally managed to reserve a table here on the Saturday before Pentecost and go out to eat. The ambience is a bit rustic and the Rusticana isn't really that big inside. I was invited and had goulash soup, spare ribs for 2 plus side dishes and dessert. I think the waitress was the boss. Very nice person by the way. We (me and my son) were quite surprised by the portion size of the ribs. There were more than 2 large racks. We (more like me) had a bit of trouble eating it all. The taste was well crafted and the side dishes we chose ourselves were also delicious. My son was missing a bit of salt on the beans, but that's something you can add salt yourself. It is important that the beans are fresh and crunchy. I really liked the corn on the cob in the butter sauce. It was really really tasty. At the end there was Kaiserschmarrn and chocolate souffle (I think). Both as you can see from the pictures, beautifully decorated and definitely very tasty. The price-performance ratio was definitely great, even for Munich standards. As I said, we didn't expect so many spare ribs.

The meat quality of the spare ribs was very good, but you almost didn't taste any of it after the spare ribs were drowned in BBQ sauce. In this case it doesn't suit my taste and unfortunately the art of the grill is lost. Somehow you couldn't order more drinks and when we wanted to pay in a large group, where it was clear that we weren't paying together, the bill was placed on the table without comment and then the waiter ran away straight away. And then we sat for another quarter of an hour to pay. It was ok but I don't have to go back now.

We've been to Rusticana a few times and it's always been delicious. Munich average price. The ambience is quite acceptable but unfortunately also very loud when it's full, which has always been the case so far. If you like meat, this is the place for you.

Very tasty spare ribs where the meat almost falls off the bone. All the side dishes were also super tasty and fresh (potato wedges, side salad, mushrooms). Our waiter was also very friendly and funny 😊

I'll start with food, amazing 9.5 nothing really to add there. My issue is with the waiter, this will be long : First of all tip culture is toxic and it damages first of all the waiters, look at examples like america it promotes the "underpaying" of the stuff because they get tips, so it's not like you'l be making lots of cash eventually if that happens your wage will be reduced. So what actually happened, we are on a business trip, so we need to pay with company Credit Card, thats what we did, we wanted to leave tips, not because it's how it works but because the waiter was nice and friendly. BUT after we payed we didnt even have time to do that that he already started being rude about the tips, like you didnt leave any tips why should i make you split cheques and so on. Honestly we were a bit surprised because with this he didnt gain anything and you wont be leaving anything after that, so instead of just doing his amazing job till the end he said what he wanted to say. Conclusion : it's my opinion it's what i disliked and why i wont came back, i'm sorry that this seems to be very common occurrence tbh and i think again this tips thing is bad first of all for the waiters themselves.

Big disappointment. The steak first came almost raw (waitress didn't ask beforehand), and then it was medium rare but very dry and fibrous. She then completely forgot about the beans and bacon. The ribs and side salad were fine. When asked “whether everything went well” I replied “it works”. No questions asked about what was wrong and no farewell when we left the restaurant. So little interest and service mentality.

Was not as good so I stayed away. Gave it a chance in April 2024 - and was really disappointed. I ordered ribs which were always the best (steaks were always less consistent). The ribs are not cooked enough to be tender, the sauce is mediocre. No need.. For reference, thats what I wrote some 5 years ago: Probably best for ribs in town. I like the American school, where ribs are so soft you can chew the bone so I can't give a 5...

Anyway, like so many restaurants in Munich, they are only open for 3 days, unless they close completely. Everyone knows the reasons. I'd rather spend my money in "Little London", a different class in every way!

What can you write about a place like this? Cult... Institution... Father Abraham probably had his famous sausage cauldron here. At least it feels like Rusticana has existed in an unchanged form since the beginning of time. Actually, this fact alone should be the downfall of the restaurant. Just not at this steakhouse. Here they successfully defy modernity. The name says it all: everything rustic. The dining room is quite small, has dark paneling all around and is not lavishly furnished. You can also eat at the large bar. Everything is quite tight and sitting down is a tradition at the larger tables. Anywhere else it would be unbearable, here it is comfortable. I can't explain why exactly. It just feels like that and you quickly start talking to your neighbors. After all, the audience itself is a reason to come here. A good mix of expectant regulars and their surprised companions. Always peppered with a few Americans. No wonder. Despite the traditional Bavarian feel, the offerings at Rusticana are very close to a typical American steakhouse. The service is also friendly and rustic, although it's not surprising given the crowds. It is always warm in the Rusticana. Warm to very warm. This too would be unbearable anywhere else. But here the heat comes from the charcoal grill. All the wonderful delicacies are sizzling away here, clearly visible between the bar and the kitchen. The sight allows a lot to be forgiven. Which brings us to the real reason why there is always so much going on here. Meat! My only real requirement is met here. The product is treated with respect. Nothing is overloaded or fried to death. And since you're far from the clichéd posh steakhouse here, you can also pay for the pleasure. How could it get any better? As a group you should definitely try the spareribs. Quite a large portion for just one person, and all the ribs for this table are served on a large board. There's always a big hello and a real mess with the newbies. That's why paper bibs and lemon water are always served. That's why I simply make Rusticana a cult institution.

First of all: I love this shop and we really enjoy going here and the food is always very good. Unfortunately today the service was subpar. We waited a long time to be able to place our order, asked several times about the wine list, we would certainly have ordered drinks and dessert, but were then forgotten and not asked again. In general, I would certainly have given a better rating if I hadn't overheard the staff complaining about the “low tip”.

The food here is really good! The bartender was extremely welcoming to us even though we don’t speak German. He even taught us some German traditions when entering and exiting restaurants. He also taught us about schnit! If you are ever in Munich go here, the food is great and the friendly staff is even better.

We went here because we had a voucher. The ambience is nice and the service is top! You can only get a seat if you reserve in advance, which definitely speaks for the restaurant's good reputation. Unfortunately, my steak wasn't quite as convincing, so in retrospect the price of €50 was too high for me. However, my companion's spare ribs were great. The ribs are definitely recommended. We'll definitely come back to eat ribs :-)

We LOVE Rusticana! We’re lucky enough to live close by, and the rumors are true - these are the best ribs in Munich. Sitting at the bar with a wonderful warm team (thank you Moritz and Norman!), this is a gem in München. We recommend the Grill Platter too!
