Let's be clear, the star isn't for the food. The quality of the meat in a place like this is always guaranteed. What isn't guaranteed in places like this is seeing cockroaches on the floor. Not small ones, no, but so big they barely fit in the glass I used to pick them up. The waiters, embarrassed, picked them up and threw them out onto the street (although they clearly came from the kitchen area). The most absurd thing of all was that when the bill arrived, after waiting 40 minutes for two seared steaks, the waiter pressured us to pay a "tip," something that isn't mandatory in Germany. The term "Bedienung," which is the service charge, is already included by law in the bill, as is VAT. The thing is, they saw we looked like tourists and thought, well, if we push a little, we might get away with it. Well, we didn't get away with it, and after the lamentable cockroach spectacle and without them having offered us any kindness, I don't see the need to leave a tip. Is it not nice to leave no tip? Yes. But it's also not nice to take the bill, look at it with disdain, and say, "No tip?" To slam the tab and angrily tell us, "Happy holidays!" Then I'll send you the health insurance bill.

The food was good and we also liked the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the positive impression was severely marred by the service. After our meal, we weren't asked about drinks for over an hour. When we brought this up, the waiter even started arguing instead of addressing our criticism professionally. It's a real shame, because with better service, the visit would have been much more enjoyable. I think the waiter's behavior doesn't reflect the standards of this restaurant.

We went to El Gaucho at the Viktualienmarkt for lunch today and tried their new business lunch menu for €19. The combination of starter, main course, and dessert was a really pleasant surprise. We started with a creamy pumpkin soup, which was perfectly seasoned – just the right amount of spice, not too heavy. For the main course, we had a rib-eye steak on a skewer with roasted potatoes. The meat was cooked to perfection, beautifully juicy and flavorful, accompanied by crispy roasted potatoes – truly excellent. To finish, we had a pumpkin tart, which was surprisingly light yet packed with flavor. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The atmosphere is modern, cozy, and just so well-rounded – you immediately feel at ease. All in all, very good value for money and definitely a recommendation for a high-quality lunch right in the city center. We'll definitely be back.

Finding a good quality restaurant in Munich is very difficult or hard to find. The meat is high quality and the dishes are beautifully presented. Not recommended for families with children. The music is too loud to enjoy a quiet meal.

Fantastic food, disastrous timing and table concept The food was undoubtedly excellent – absolutely top-notch in terms of taste, and the atmosphere was great too. The waiters were friendly and attentive; I would give them 5 stars for that alone. But the business concept ruined the entire evening. The tables are far too small, so there's hardly enough room for all the courses, drinks, and side dishes at once. At the same time, you only have a fixed two-hour time slot. If the service takes 30 minutes just to take your order, you effectively have an hour and a half to eat three courses for around €750. And then you're simply ushered out without any consideration. Even after asking, there was no leniency, no extension – nothing. You can clearly tell that turnover is more important here than customer satisfaction. It feels like a system: in, out, as long as it's revenue. Sustainable thinking? Wanting guests to want to come back? Nowhere to be found. Sustainable thinking? Wanting guests to return? Forget about it. *Sustainable thinking*? *Wanting* guests to come back? Not a chance. **Sustainable thinking* My conclusion: • Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Service staff: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Concept & customer service: ⭐️ It's a shame, because the culinary potential would be fantastic – but this leaves a bitter aftertaste.

We had another very pleasant evening at "El Gaucho" – we were served very warmly by Elias in the side room and treated to a very smooth, dry Rioja, the usual excellent meat (everyone was very satisfied), and a few sweet desserts. I would come back anytime and have been several times already. The meat is truly excellent, especially the filet steak – you can never get enough. Add to that a sophisticated yet unpretentious atmosphere, without any pretentious airs or forced rustic charm. Reservations are highly recommended!

Located right in the city center, just 5 minutes from the nearest parking garage, Rieger City, the restaurant is tastefully decorated in a compact yet cozy space. There's plenty of comfortable seating. Outside, there's even a comfortable table with an ashtray, bar stools, and a patio heater for those waiting or smoking. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table. The menus were beautifully bound. The service was friendly and helpful. The dishes were lovingly presented; I especially recommend the starter soup with mushrooms and truffle ravioli, and the steak tartare. My wife had a ribeye as her main course, which was excellent and had the expected smoky crust. I tried a dry-aged ribeye, which was very tasty, but less dark on the outside than my wife's and therefore a bit bland. Next time, I'll order the regular ribeye. The side dishes of pimientos, sweet potato purée, and spinach with Swiss chard were delicious and not over-seasoned. ... Aside from the somewhat bland searing of my dry-aged steak, I was very impressed with the overall experience and would gladly return. I found the prices reasonable. The exceptionally friendly staff deserves special mention!

For a restaurant in this price range, and one that claims to be exclusive, our visit was unfortunately very disappointing. The service left much to be desired: The waiter seemed unpleasant, unmotivated, and stern. His tone was rather arrogant and unfriendly, and a smile was nowhere to be seen. The presentation of the food also fell short of expectations. It was plain and unappealing – a hot stone or some other presentation would have been appropriate. We ordered one dish "medium rare" and one "medium," but both were served "medium." Especially in a meat restaurant, one expects precision. We were particularly shocked on our way to the restroom: A table had been placed directly in front of the stairs. Guests at this table were sitting extremely close to the toilet, and every visitor had to walk right past them. Because of the proximity to the stairs, the passage was also very narrow – unpleasant and completely unacceptable. Luckily, we weren't assigned this table; otherwise, we probably would have left immediately. How can a restaurant with such high standards treat its guests with such a lack of care and respect, just to fit in an extra table? Overall, we were very negatively surprised and disappointed. We will not be visiting this restaurant again.

We were at the restaurant on Saturday evening, and although it was full, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist and our waiter. We had a wonderful steak tartare followed by a tira de ancho, which the waiter recommended (because we both wanted ribeye). The meat was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented on a wooden board. The recommended Austrian red wine was a perfect complement. The service was incredibly attentive and always cheerful, even though new guests were constantly arriving and they were clearly very busy. A truly lovely evening, and we will definitely be back!

We were a group of eight at the restaurant and were unfortunately disappointed across the board. The waiter was very unfriendly and rushed from the start. We even had to wait an unusually long time for the menus. When we didn't order wine, the waiter reacted with obvious incomprehension. Throughout the entire evening, the waiters argued loudly amongst themselves in a foreign language – very unprofessional and disruptive. Some of the food arrived incorrectly; the steak was "okay" at best, but far from a top-quality steak. The burger was alright, but nothing special. What was particularly annoying was that we weren't allowed to pay separately, even though there were eight of us. Only one bill was accepted, with the explanation that we should sort it out amongst ourselves. When we then tried to split the bill together at the table, the waiter was visibly irritated and became even more unfriendly. The final straw: The bill included approximately €50 worth of food that we hadn't ordered and hadn't eaten. After we inquired, we received only unintelligible mumbling, then the amount was corrected without comment. Even when paying – we left a small tip – there was no "thank you," no "goodbye," no apology. Just an annoyed departure. Conclusion: Poor service, unfriendly staff, incorrect billing – we certainly won't be back.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing visit. The staff was consistently unfriendly and didn't exchange a single friendly word upon arrival or departure – not even a simple "goodbye." Furthermore, we were brought the wrong food, and the bill included approximately €50 for dishes we hadn't ordered. After pointing this out, there was no apology or attempt to resolve the situation amicably. It's a shame, because the ambiance actually has potential – but with such treatment of guests and so many service errors, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. Hopefully, management will take this criticism to heart and provide staff with training in customer service and accurate billing practices.

Our visit to El Gaucho in Munich left us with mixed feelings – with a clear tendency toward disappointment. First, the positive: The meat quality is of a high standard. Anyone looking for a good raw material will generally find it here. Unfortunately, the praise essentially ends there, because what followed was unsatisfactory in several respects. Food: The chimichurri, which one expects to be an aromatic, herby accompaniment, tasted and looked more like a cucumber salad – miles away from the original. The Gaucho skewer, on which several types of meat are served, unfortunately showed serious errors in its preparation: It was ordered medium-well. One piece was cooked all the way through (well over well-done), while another was still raw and ice-cold in the middle. This one was grilled again, but came back tough and dry, and above all, well-done. This is simply unacceptable for a restaurant specializing in meat. The other dishes were fine and tasty. Service: At first, the drink service was friendly and quick – but then it was nonexistent. Empty glasses were left standing, even though we would have been perfectly willing to order significantly more. I don't see it as my job to ask for drinks – attentive service recognizes such things automatically and also sells the guest something. During the serving process, it was also noticeable that drinks were served "in front of us" while we were ordering our food. Instead of waiting briefly in the background, people preferred to push in between. Even small details like this left a rather poor impression. The low point came when paying: When we mentioned the amount to pay, the waiter bluntly asked if the difference should be the tip. After confirming that, he replied bluntly and cheekily that that would be insulting. When we asked if the money wasn't wanted, we received an equally surprising "I'd rather not." ``` Such an attitude raises questions: What exceptional or excellent service was provided here that justifies a proactive, inappropriate demand for a tip? In any case, attentiveness or genuine guest orientation was not evident. That's not how you talk to guests, no matter how much or how little you tip. Conclusion: What remains is a restaurant with great potential – but one that disappoints due to its poor execution in both the kitchen and service. For the prices charged here, you should expect not only good meat, but also professional procedures and service worthy of the name. 2 out of 5 stars – for us, this was our first and last visit.

Should have been a lovely evening and a test for my next company party (it was really great there last year) but unfortunately the service went wrong from minute 1. The drinks menu didn't arrive until I asked again. Then the place settings were cleared, the chosen starter was forgotten and then only one could be brought (due to a system error) and the salad was supposed to come with the main course - ok, it can happen. Then the two main courses came straight along with the first starter and minutes later the second starter (there's generally hardly any space on the tables, let alone for a starter and main course at the same time). When clearing the table, I was immediately asked for an espresso on the house, which I didn't want at that moment straight after the meal and would have liked to order dessert too. Well, no one paid any attention to us after that and I asked for the bill. Despite the poor service, I took the liberty of leaving a tip, but unfortunately I didn't get a thank you or a conciliatory farewell. Things can always go wrong - quality depends on how you handle it as a host. It's a real shame that an evening that was supposed to be enjoyable was left in negative memory because of the service.

Came here for some awesome steak and was met with pure disappointment. When we walked in there was no one there. No one to greet us and no one to care. We said hello a few times before anyone even bothered to show up. Waited around 3-4min before someone came to greet us and seat us. Then we decided to get one of the special big cuts. I asked for medium rare / rare as that’s my preference and was told no that this steak has to be medium / medium well. I wanted to change the cut but my friend said that’s normal in proper places so I said fine. Then was talking to my friend that it’s weird I normally prefer medium rare / rare and the waiter chimed in (without being asked just jumped into our conversation) saying if we want he can change it but it’ll be bad and has to be done medium. We said it’s fine do it. Then when the food came out we also got chimichurri and cream peppercorn sauce. Chimichurri was some chopped up vinegary pepper and definitely not chimichurri. The steak was chewy and stringy. Definitely not going back especially that we paid €80 for it. Waste of money.

A very pleasant customer service. 10/10 to be precise. Ambience was not too bad too and the food (the steak) was chunky and delicious. 4/5 because of the space. Specifically tailored to the inside dinning. It appears there are more seats outside the restaurant (ideal for the daytime All in all, I definitely will recommend.

The food was average. I ordered medium, but it arrived medium rare. The service was extremely bad. Don’t come here unless you are white. They seated me at an isolated table even though the restaurant was almost empty, and every five minutes they checked on me—not to ask if the food was okay, but just to see if I had finished eating so I could leave! Horrible experience!

We had an all-around wonderful evening at this restaurant. We started with a refreshing Negroni, a cold beer, and a delicious appetizer: oven-fresh Gaucho bread with a delicate blend of spices, butter, a smoky note, and a spread – a perfect start. We also enjoyed a few select bottles of red wine, which paired perfectly with the dishes. For the main course, we had fillet steak with shrimp and creamy mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and perfectly served – truly a delight. The ambiance is very inviting and makes you feel immediately at home. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. All in all, a truly successful evening. If I'm in the area again, I'd love to come back.

Excellent Argentinean meat We went to this restaurant for our last dinner in Munich. The restaurant is just steps from the market, so it's very centrally located. The staff is very courteous and friendly, finding us a table even though the restaurant was almost full and we'd made the wrong reservation. For an entree, we had a tartare to share. It was very good, although tartare should actually be pounded with a knife, not minced. For the main course, we had a 400-gram sirloin to share. It was well cooked but not exceptionally good, as I've had better. For the side, the fennel was good, but very little in quantity.

I didn't eat anything there, but I can comment on the friendliness and the ambiance. I was treated very kindly, even though I just wanted to use the restroom. The ambiance is very pleasant. Furthermore, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I can imagine that the service and food would be similar as a regular guest.

Very expensive, but also delicious. €2.80 each for a portion of ketchup and mayo with fries is unfortunately excessive. If the customer opts for a €25 Birger, both sauces should be included. A real shame!

We were there in the summer, and of course, you can reserve a table online. The staff is very friendly and does a great job, so you don't have to wait long to be served. You don't feel like you're in the city, and you feel at home. Highly recommended.

We reserved a table online for August 15, 2025, at 7:45 p.m. – the occasion is our wedding anniversary. The reservation is for 7:45 p.m. Is it common practice in Munich to be allowed to stay in a restaurant after the usual two-hour reservation has expired, despite a late reservation? We arrived at the restaurant on time. However, the "nice" lady at the front desk immediately said, "You are only allowed to stay for two hours – it's fine until 10:00 p.m.." By 10:00 p.m., however, the restaurant was almost empty. As a Munich resident, I was disappointed by how this restaurant treats its guests. Never again! There are more thoughtful and much better options in Munich for a pleasant evening. Therefore: Never again at El Gaucho at the Viktualienmarkt

What a shame, it's gone downhill so much!!! Our first and second visits to ABACCO'S were in Ulm, and we were very impressed and satisfied, so we looked for and found a similar location in Munich! However, the ABACCO'S in Munich has unfortunately declined significantly. We've visited it four times in the last six months, but the last two times we weren't as impressed with the quality or quantity of the food. Yesterday we were there, and what can I say? The price/performance ratio is no longer right. Since the prices are somewhat higher, one expects better quality food, especially the steaks. The 400g beef steak (€49.90) had at least 10-15% gristly meat that was inedible, unfortunately. The two corn on the cob we ordered were relatively small and arrived without skewers to hold them. When we asked how we were supposed to eat or handle the bread, they brought us two toothpicks to stick in it, but they were so thin that they broke relatively quickly. They really need to come up with something else! The house salad tasted old and wilted, as if it had been sitting on the plate for hours, and the garlic bread isn't what we remembered from the beginning (especially from Ulm). It's a shame; you can tell that the initial enthusiasm faded quickly and that the restaurant is either lacking management or simply not doing its job. The waiter who served us was very friendly and tried his best, but some people, including those behind the bar, clearly didn't want to work. Three of them stood chatting animatedly while a huge table wasn't cleared after the guests (around 20 people) left until we did. The service of bringing or even offering a fresh, hot lava stone was also missing. A real shame! Unfortunately, I already noticed the declining service and lower quality during my last visit, and I hoped it was just a one-off experience, but I guess I was wrong. If the 7% tax isn't passed on to the guests and you have to pay the full 19% on everything, then you at least expect good quality and decent service – that's not too much to ask, is it?

The usual Block House atmosphere. The service is great. Super friendly, nice people. Even though it was busy, they remained friendly. The food is amazing. Always fascinating. I eat there at least twice a month. Definitely a must for steak lovers. The prices are reasonable. Thanks again.

A high-quality steakhouse in Munich's city center. Delicious food and truly attentive service. The ambiance, both inside and out, was truly impressive. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back.
