George Prime Steak and Raw Bar in München

We received a very friendly welcome, our jackets were taken from us and we were shown to our table. A waiter came very quickly and we were given a bottle of water. After that, however, we sat for 15 minutes and waited until someone came so we could place our order. We had a turnip salad, a classic tartare, a porterhouse steak and a white mousse chocolate lava cake for dessert. The food was excellent across the board. I really liked the ambience. However, I found the sommelier and the sex leader's clothing to be too casual. The service loses one star because we waited an incredibly long time for the food between courses. We also waited a very long time to order dessert. 3 hours for three courses. That's a very long time. Of course you don't want to be rushed, but something in between would have been good.

Very good, but not exceptional. We were at the GPS on a Friday evening and spent a lovely evening together. For the price level, I would have expected a little more. Nevertheless: We had a beet salad (€19) for starters, which was very tasty and visually excellently presented. Also a tartar - also of the finest quality. The stunning 1st class porterhouse steak (€159) was excellently prepared, had a very nice roast (roasted aromas) and was also beautifully carved by the service. There was also a manageable portion of fries (€8) and broccolini (far too little for €13!). For dessert, there was lava chocolate mousse - a sophisticated preparation in which warm chocolate is poured over a white ice cream/mousse ball. The chocolate tasted a bit like chocolate coating from the supermarket. The rosé wine from California was something, perhaps a little too dry, but overall a positive experience. Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time between courses. That could have gone quicker. Most of the staff are also in jeans, which is not appropriate for a place like this! As for the ambience, you can sit comfortably at small round tables in the center of the restaurant, which are far enough apart. Overall, it's an appealing and pleasant atmosphere.

Wonderful experience and great steaks. Portions were big though, would have preferred it if there were smaller portions priced accordingly so that we could have more sides or try other things too.

The meat (New York strip) was great, starters and side dishes were good so far. The interior is also beautiful. However, the service during our visit was extremely poor, which cannot be judged otherwise given the price. There are no professional staff working here, just untrained staff who apparently haven't even learned the basics of being a waiter. In addition, 3 steak dishes from the limited menu selection were not available at all, which is a joke for a steak restaurant to say the least. Overall, not a positive experience, we definitely won't eat here again. Word of the poor price-performance ratio seems to have already gotten around; the restaurant was at least half empty on a Saturday evening, which in Munich speaks for itself.

Sensational! Perfect steaks, great side dishes, served in a pleasant atmosphere. Wines by the glass from the USA and that is very fitting. Absolutely recommended.

Steaks are decent, but not the best I’ve ever had. Our waiter was very attentive, but they tried to seat two grown men at a tiny singles table and when we asked to get a two person corner booth, they moved us to a completely empty and cold part of the restaurant. They also made us wait outside for 30min. prior to opening even though all the staff was just sitting at the bar on their phones and it was -10C outside. Not the most welcoming or hospitable way to treat a new guest. Seems like they don’t really care and the owner obviously has checked out. Food was decent though.

A great restaurant with a somewhat sophisticated wine list. Nice ambience, various opportunities to sit, the staff is super attentive. I had a filet mignon medium, it was to die for as well as the beef tartare with Perigord truffle.

We tried a new restaurant again. It was worth it. The food was very good, as was the wine from the USA (white wine, we like to try wines from other countries that we don't know that much). The service was top, very nice attentive waiters. And we also liked the ambience because you don't sit so close to other people, we also had a nice, quiet place.

Absolutely first class experience last night at George prime steak only fault I asked for more butter and forgot to bring it other than that great food great service and will return when I return to Munich

To be cheated at a completely absurd price-performance ratio is cheeky! I eat a lot of steak and know many of Munich's steakhouses and their prices! Presenting a naked, completely dry piece of fillet for 77 euros has to be evaluated! The rest of the side dishes also tasted irrelevant! We had dinner on a Saturday evening and were almost the only ones there! You could have made an effort, but instead you get ripped off with the bill! Conclusion: Worse store! Bad audience! Outrageous prices! Bad food!

Unfortunately, our experience was catastrophic! We stumbled into the restaurant because of the Fine Dine Box 2025. The starters (onion soup, tartare) were great. Unfortunately, things then went steeply downhill. The main courses were very bad. The fillet was ordered medium rare but arrived very marginal. We then accepted it - unfortunately it wasn't okay in terms of taste or consistency. Very dry and tasteless. In my opinion it was cheap meat. The price of €77 must be highlighted here - all the steak houses we know in Munich are cheaper and taste much better. At this price, the customer shouldn't have to complain about the doneness in the steakhouse. It was still of good quality. I just forget about the side dishes - eating bread at home is a good choice. Potato gratin terrible. We ordered a bottle of wine for the 4th. The advice did not respond to our wishes. We ended up paying with at least 0.1 of the wine still in the bottle. We had empty glasses. We took the bottle ourselves and refilled ourselves before leaving. Clear inattention and rip off. We were also very surprised why every table was set with a bread plate with a butter knife. Neither we nor our neighbors received anything from it. Standard in other restaurants… Overall the store is completely overpriced and bad. Never ever! Money trap - don't visit if you're going out for a nice evening.

Wir haben das Restaurant mit gemischten Gefühlen verlassen: Der Empfangsherr war nett und hat uns die Jacken abgenommen. Anschliessend hat er uns an einen kleinen runden Tisch für 2 Personen gesetzt. Der nächste Kellner konnte kein Deutsch und hat auch nicht Servus oder Guten Abend gesagt. Man schaut sich im Raum um und ist bisschen verwundert, dass das teure Restaurant in diesem Zustand ist. An unserer Eckwand hoch ein dickes Staub / Spinnengewebe, am beleuchteten Tisch vor uns liegen unten überall sichtbar die Kabel herum, die Tapete schlägt überall Blasen, die Ledercouch Möbel sind so weich und tief dass man nicht richtig am Tisch sitzt. Der Sommelier ist wenigstens nett und hilft uns prima bei der Weinauswahl. Ausserdem sehen wir noch den Manager der in Blauer Jeans und grauem Sakko herumläuft, nur leider ist das Sakko viel zu klein für seinen Körper und auf so etwas sollte man als Manager eines sehr teuren Steakhauses achten. Wir wählten ein Steak für 2 Personen und keine Vorspeise. Man hätte nach der Bestellung das Vorspeisenbesteck direkt abräumen müssen…aber wahrscheinlich zu viel erwartet. Als das Steak dann kam und auf dem Servierwagen stand wurde dann erst auf dem kleinen Tisch Platz geschaffen so dass der grosse längliche Teller hingestellt werden konnte. Vorher beim Schneiden des Steaks durch einen sehr freundlichen Kellner klapperte das grosse Holzschneidebrett auf dem Servierwagen sehr laut was eigentlich auch ein Unding ist!! Eine Kellnerin (wahrscheinlich in Ausbildung und sehr schüchtern beziehungsweise schweigsam => sie grüsste auch nicht) wollte das Salz vom Tisch räumen (wegen Platzmangel) ,eine andere erfahrene Kellnerin stellte es wieder hin. Alles Dinge,die bei so einem Toprestaurant mit gehobenen Preisen nicht passieren dürfen. Das Essen war sehr lecker aber der Gesamteindruck zählt mit. Und der war bei unserem Besuch „sehr ausbaufähig“. Andere Steakhöuser in München machen es insgesamt viel besser!Deshalb war es unser letzter Besuch hier

As part of our Xmas celebrations we went to George's for steak. Service, food, and ambience were excellent. Even the coffee surprised us which was made by a barista.

The wait staff, food and atmosphere were all amazing. We are from the US and have traveled to many places. Strongly recommend dining here for a delicious experience.

Overall is was a great experience — food was great. But was wasn’t an outstanding experience for two main reasons. 1) My first impression was that the restaurant is very unwelcoming. The door is painted black and there is no clear way to get in. It looks like it’s closed or abandoned. Even inside, it has an austere and cold feel to it. Maybe I was expecting more since it was a Christmas Eve meal and I was hoping it to be a little warmer or more festive. However, what bothered me the most was that there was a continuous upsell of products. They asked me what we wanted and I said we will have wine with dinner. They push the cocktails. So we tried one of their signature cocktails. And then they continued to push the wine. When we said we didn’t want dessert, they insisted on giving us certain menus. We had had plenty, including appetizers and four meals. So there was no need to upsell.

We arrived late to our reservation, moments before the kitchen was about to close. Despite this, the manager and the kitchen staff served us with incredible hospitality, service and food. The attention to detail and friendly service truly elevated the taste of the incredible food that we ate. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Food and service was good. For the price of my steak, it could have been cooked evenly. I had portions of my steak that the texture wasn’t the same. Some portions I bit into were like butter and others were chewy.

We literally just had dinner at this restaurant recommended by our lovely Hotel The Bayrescher Hof. The food was very good but not sure about the service . It takes forever for your food to arrive which I guess I understand as they probably would like you to stay longer and order more drinks. We didn’t end up ordering any desert because we were afraid it would take forever to arrive . The lady at the front desk is lovely and so are the two people serving you the food . Waiter , not sure how to rate him . We made a mistake by ordering something which had ham on it ( we don’t eat ham ) and when I asked the waiter what that was and he confirmed it indeed was ham, his attitude was not the best in customer service but then again this is NOT the US or London where even it was your mistake , they would not point it out and say :” well you still have to pay for it if I order another one for you “. Again, not the waiter’s fault as it was our mistake for not paying attention but I would have expected a bit better service and attitude from the waiter. Would I go back to George Prime Steak ? Not necessarily.

Fine dining in a beautifully relaxed atmosphere. The porterhouse steak in particular impresses with its perfect preparation and excellent taste. The wine selection is also excellent and rounds off the menu harmoniously. Admittedly, the prices are high, but the quality and ambience make it worth the visit - after all, you have to treat yourself sometimes. An ideal place for special occasions and a piece of luxury in everyday life.

Für besondere Anlässe sehr zu empfehlen - das Essen und die Getränke waren wirklich lecker, mit überraschenden Elementen. Der Service war sehr angenehm, kompetent und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente war entspannt, man konnte sich sehr gut unterhalten - an den Bänken sitzt man vielleicht etwas tief, aber man gewöhnt sich daran und war nicht unangenehm. Preislich ist es definitiv obere Preisklasse und man muss schon tief in die Geldtasche greifen, aber im Gesamtpaket lohnt es sich absolut und ist ein Erlebnis!

Our starter (lobster croquette) was amazing (the price too) and the steak was excellent. The sauces and side dishes were also fine, although not outstanding. But overall food excellent. The big deductions come from the ambience: The cushions on the benches are so soft that you feel like a child whose high chair has been stolen. Table approximately at shoulder height. The room is extremely high, the interior is very beautiful, very reduced. Ambiance EXTREMELY sober and reduced, as there are no loosening elements. No candle, no flower, no plant, no splash of color. Nothing. Even the pepper mill on the table was immediately stolen from us. We were here for our annual Christmas dinner. Since there were of course zero Christmas decorations, the festive atmosphere unfortunately suffered greatly. Very unfortunate. Unfortunately, just good food is not enough.

Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Qualität und Zubereitung des Fleisches: Es wurde genau so serviert, wie wir es bestellt hatten – auf den Punkt gegart und herrlich saftig. Die Aromen waren wunderbar ausgewogen, und man merkte sofort, dass hier mit viel Liebe zum Detail gearbeitet wurde. Auch die Beilagen waren ein echter Genuss. Sie ergänzten das Hauptgericht ideal und überzeugten durch ihre Frische und Raffinesse. Jeder Bissen war ein Erlebnis, das man nicht so schnell vergisst. Dazu kam eine ansprechende Präsentation der Speisen, die das gesamte Erlebnis abgerundet hat. Es war nicht nur köstlich, sondern auch optisch ein Highlight. Der Service war ebenso makellos: freundlich, aufmerksam und mit einem echten Gespür für die Wünsche der Gäste. Man fühlte sich willkommen und bestens umsorgt. Das Ambiente trug zusätzlich dazu bei, dass wir uns rundum wohlgefühlt haben. Alles in allem war dieses Essen eine absolute Spitzenleistung. Ein großes Kompliment an das gesamte Team – wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

As I've had my eyes on the restaurant for quite some time, I was very much looking forward to my first dining experience here in December 2024 - also given the rave reviews and excellent standing the George apparently enjoys, mostly in the German-language gourmet & hospitality special interest press. The restaurant's overall style and interior design are upscale and smart, creating a timeless, elegant and subdued ambiance. (It may sound odd, but I particularly loved the (marble?) staircase leading to the downstairs bathrooms). There were minor hitches, i.e. the proportion between tables and the (heavily cushioned) seating is off. As a result, even somebody like me (I'm 6.1 ft) needed an extra cushion to be able to sit comfortably. While the service (our young Munich waiter and the George's Indian GM were simply brillant: extremely charming and smooth) was great, and the wine selection (a really appealing and surprisingly wide selection of U.S. wines on a level I've rarely seen in Germany) was a real treat, the food itself was a very mixed bag. For example, our appetizers (CRISPY NOVA SCOTIA LOBSTER CROQUETTE and ASSORTED SHUCKED OYSTERS) were delicious and well-prepared - but the main dishes, i.e. the STEAKS - were not. I had ordered a New York Strip (medium), my partner a filet mignon. As the George is using a gas-based Montague grill, the meat's outer edges (such as mine) are exposed to the grill's heat for quite a long time in order to get the core parts of the steak nice and juicy. But that only works if the meat is really thick and not thin (2 inches max.) as my New York Strip. As a result, my meat was totally dry - the Filet Mignon was ok (as its thickness measured an estimated 3-4 inches). Unfortunately, the George doesn't believe in seasoning - making my steak pretty much flavorless. The side orders were so-so: The scalloped potatoes au gratin simply were a non-eatable disaster, the maple-glazed carrots pretty al dente. Being a native German myself (but one who has lived in the U.S. for a long time), and being aware that Germany doesn't have a tradition of steak food culture, the dining experience nevertheless was underwhelming. Would I return? Yes - but next time, I would order some seafood from the raw bar and a filet mignon.

I can't really say anything other than that we were thrilled. The meat was excellently grilled, the fish was perfect, the desserts were a dream, the aperitif was highly recommended by the waiter, the wines were a delight, and the service was exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this class. This was our first time at George Prime Steak. To put it bluntly, it is worth every penny. The service perfect, the steaks great, the wine - my wife loved the wine. And that may mean something! We will come again.

What a successful evening! As soon as we arrive at the reception we feel more than welcome. The aperitif at the bar gives us an insight into how difficult it is to open fresh oysters... Then over to the restaurant - we're early and there are still few guests - this should change soon. A little trip and the right bottle of wine for the evening is found. Tartare, steaks and desserts with a show effect make the evening unforgettable. The service is always attentive and friendly. Of course, all of this has its price, but we didn't come here to save money. Gladly again at any time...

We took the porterhouse steak to share along with a side and the volcano chocolate desert and of course a great wine suggested by Otakara himself. George Prime is a fantastic restaurant in the city center of Munich. If you are looking to branch out from the traditional Bavarian fare, a steak dinner here is hard to beat! Just make sure to save room for desert - they have unique options like baked Alaska and a choc lavaball!

Horrible experience. Ordered porter house for 2 - medium. Came out medium-rare. After the server has cut it into pieces, says we'll heat it up more since it's going to take forever to cook a new steak. Comes out 10 minutes later and it's well-done. Offers discount or desert. I don't eat sugar or wheat and wife was full so we wanted a discount. Another server has no clue about a discount or complimentary desert. They decide not to charge us two glasses of wine but forget to bring out the bill. We finally had enough, got up and dinner night out was completely ruined. Unbelievable that a steak house charging these prices cannot get the basics like the temperature of the steak right TWICE IN A ROW. Talked to 3 or 4 different people during the night and nobody is aware what each other is doing and once the problem was voiced nobody wanted to take ownership and fix it.

If you want to treat yourself to a particularly high-quality beef steak, you've definitely come to the right place. But you also have to be able/want to treat yourself to the prices that are available. But that's worth the money.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the George and I highly recommend it. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The starters were excellent and continued with the New York strip steaks. These were perfectly cooked, medium rare and full of flavor. All in all, it was a fantastic experience that I can recommend to every meat lover.

For service 10 of 5. Never experienced better service than in George Prime Steak. We had mostly seafood and a tartare, some extras like mushrooms saute and pure with lobster. Everything was delicious. Cocktails are tasty. Tea presented as it should be with lemon and honey. Very helpful and careful staff. I can only recommend this place to have a nice evening with friends or a date.

Porterhouse steak was delicious and the table servers were beyond excellent. We will return next time when we're in Munich.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich vom Restaurantleiter empfangen und konnte problemlos den Tisch wechseln, unser Kellner hätte nicht besser sein können. so eine Freundlichkeit und Professionalität sieht man selten. Nach einem Aperitif wurden die wirklich hervorragend Vorspeisen serviert. Das Tatar war etwas ungewöhnlich gewürzt - sodass der Eigengeschmack nicht mehr herauskam. Die Steaks sind gut - im Prinzip aber ihr Geld nicht wirklich wert. Der Brokkoli bestand eigentlich nur aus Stiel was geschmacklich aber gut.Die handgeschnittenen Pommes waren sehr gut. Wir hatten einen hervorragenden Weißwein - wobei auch hier das Preisleistungsverhältniss nicht ganz gestimmt hat. Insgesamt ein gelungener Abend mit Abstrichen - was bei einer Rechnung von 400 Euro für 2 Personen nicht sein darf.

Excellent staff and Service. Food was fantastic and wine was delicious.

Amazing service. The steaks were amazing. Prices are a little high for portion sizes on the sides. While the servers were amazing i think there was a small language gap as I don’t speak German. We ordered sauces for the streaks we didn’t get. But they weren’t on the bill so I don’t think they realized we ordered them. Drinks were amazing as well. But slow to hit table which is surprising as most places keep the drinks flowing as it makes them money.

Great steak and seafood selection.

This was the second time that I dined at Georges’s Prime and it confirmed that it’s the best steakhouse I’ve been to in all of Europe! The beet salad, T-bone steak and all of our sides were perfect. When you are tired of Bavarian food and want a steakhouse like NYC or Chicago, this is the place!

Very clean service. Booking is straightforward, great online management system, the atmosphere in the restaurant is really comfortable and the tables well spaced out. Would recommend almost anything on the menu but the Spinach side dish was really extra good!!

Steak is good. Sides are ok, fries are too dry. Wine quality is not good, Overpriced. Service is good. Ambiance is ok.

This was an excellent dining experience, demonstrating that Munich supports fine dining as well as its traditional German offerings.
