Block House in München

The usual Block House atmosphere. The service is great. Super friendly, nice people. Even though it was busy, they remained friendly. The food is amazing. Always fascinating. I eat there at least twice a month. Definitely a must for steak lovers. The prices are reasonable. Thanks again.

First-class service, but meat quality has generally declined at Blockhouse, and the interior design lacks fresh inspiration without destroying the traditional ambiance, not just in this branch.

We arrived at 10 PM. There was a really rude gesture from the kitchen – a "get out of here" gesture with their hands. How are we supposed to feel as customers? Instead of simply saying the kitchen was closed, they were incredibly rude. The waiter also greeted us very rudely. If you don't enjoy your job, you shouldn't be doing it. Especially in the restaurant industry, customer service is paramount.

I got food poisoned by the ribeye

I want to leave a very positive review for the entire staff at BLOCK HOUSE. Every time we come, we find a welcoming atmosphere and a team that is always kind, attentive, and professional. The food is always good, carefully crafted, and tasty: every dish confirms the quality and attention to detail that characterizes this restaurant. A special thanks goes to Filippo, who served us this evening: he stood out for his helpfulness, patience, and great professionalism. I had requested a few special items, and he, with great courtesy, made sure we received everything we asked for, always with a smile. A sincere thank you to all the staff for the excellent service, the excellent food, and to Filippo for making our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Great food, professional services, polite atmosphere

The meat is tender and delicious, my favorite place in Munich, I will come again.

I ordered a Mrs. Rumpsteak well done with herb butter bread and a potato as a side dish; there were no alternative side dish options. But what disappointed me most was that there was no herb butter with the steak. The steak was cooked through as requested, but salty and very dry.

Since the selection of steakhouses in Munich is very limited, we decided to try a chain. The service was excellent, and the meat was cooked to perfection. The meat selection is quite restricted. The side salad was very good. The team spirit among the service staff was noticeable—even the shift supervisor pitched in. The prices are very fair, but ultimately, you're dining in a franchise.

Delicious and pleasant service. The dishes were easy to understand. The steak was juicy and cooked just right. There were plenty of side dishes to go with it. The food was exactly what I'd expect from a steakhouse. The space was warm and pleasant.

We celebrated a birthday there. The service staff was very attentive. The food was delicious, the steaks were superb. The fish was cooked perfectly, and there were even vegetarian options that went beyond just a salad, such as baked feta.

I ordered the 300g steak "medium" – it was pink inside, but overall far too well-done and, frankly, dry. In Canada or Brazil, I can get a juicy, melt-in-your-mouth steak for less money; this is like comparing apples and oranges. It came with a medium-sized baked potato with yogurt sauce, a small salad, a buttered roll, a soft drink, and a coffee. The portion was far too small: As a man of average weight (184 cm), I was exactly the same hungry again an hour later – just under 1,000 kcal is more of a snack than a main course. For €50, I simply expect more meat, more juiciness, and good value for money. The icing on the cake was the service: I went to the restroom briefly after eating – when I returned, the table had been completely cleared, even though I hadn't paid yet. The staff apparently thought I'd left. The manager seems to be there purely for show. It's a shame, because Block House has a good reputation, but everything was just wrong here: too little food, too dry, too expensive, too chaotic. I would gladly come back if the portions were larger, the steaks juicier, and the service more professional. As a gesture of goodwill, I would be very happy to receive an invitation to try again – this time with a proper medium steak and without the food being cleared away prematurely. 😊 Thank you & best regards

The bomb was very good and the service was excellent.

For the past 20 years, this has been our go-to place for steak. Compared to other steakhouses, the value for money was excellent for many years. Recently, in my opinion, the steaks have sometimes been quite small (smaller than one would expect for a 230g steak), and at the same time, the prices have increased significantly. Therefore, I'm changing my rating from 5 to 4 stars. From January 2026, the VAT rate for restaurants will decrease from 19% to 7%. A €30 steak will then only be allowed to cost €27. This is what we customers expect, as increased costs are passed directly on to us, as we've seen with the recent price hikes.

Today's visit to Blockhaus was unfortunately very unpleasant. I've been a regular customer for 20 years and have visited almost every branch across Germany. Consistent quality and unfriendly staff are the hallmarks of this restaurant chain, but all these positive attributes were completely absent in Munich today. The server was rude when confronted about her rudeness, and even more rude when she did. The men's restrooms were in acceptable condition. The women's restroom, however, was in a deplorable state. I spoke to the restaurant manager, who, when the restaurant is full, isn't even present in the middle of things but has to be called by phone and come upstairs from the office. The response was that the restrooms are checked every three hours, which, in my opinion, is simply appalling. And unbelievably, restrooms should be checked at least every 15 minutes, especially the women's restroom. Otherwise, they should just hire a restroom attendant. The minimum wage is really low these days, plus tips. Surely someone can be found. It's the only branch in Munich. Surely there must be enough customers to cover the costs. If things haven't improved by our next visit, we won't be going back to this restaurant. You want to feel comfortable and not be afraid that when you need to use the restroom, you'll have to walk out backwards the way you came in.

A great steak restaurant with competent, always friendly, and fast service. It's usually quite busy, but the staff makes every effort to find a seat quickly.

The service, ambiance, and taste were excellent. We tried the Hereford Rib Eye and the Mr. Rump Steak – both were delicious and perfectly prepared. The salad ingredients were also extremely fresh. Overall, a very successful experience – highly recommended!

Sensational. Master cut as always, the best in Germany. I've been going to Block House since 1984. Eugen Block is a friend of the family. One star deducted because, quite honestly, and as much as I'm sorry, the restrooms in this Blockhouse are clean, but the smell is terrible. Any restroom in a major central station could do better. It's amazing that there isn't some kind of system to at least mask the smell?!

I just want to express my sincere appreciation to the team at Block House on Leopoldstrasse. The employees there are truly exceptionally friendly – ​​you're always greeted with a smile and immediately feel welcome. This atmosphere makes every visit a pleasant one. The food, as you'd expect from Block House, is simply top-notch. The steak is outstanding, and the baked potato with sour cream is one of my absolute favorites. No matter what city I'm in – if there's a Block House there, I go. For me, the brand simply stands for quality and taste. A quick side note: The portions have gotten a bit smaller recently, while the prices have increased. This is a general trend, of course, but I hope that once the economic situation improves a bit, Block House will return to its previous portion sizes (or at fairer prices). Nevertheless, Block House remains my first choice if you want to enjoy a really good steak with the best baked potato and sour cream. Highly recommended! 🥩✨

I've been to Block House Munich a few times now and have been absolutely satisfied every time! The steak was cooked to perfection – juicy, tender, and superbly seasoned. The sides (especially the Block House bread and the fresh salad) were also truly delicious. The service is always friendly, attentive, and never rushed, even when the place is full. You can tell the team enjoys their work. The ambiance is cozy and well-maintained, making you feel immediately at home – the terrace is especially lovely in summer. With the right company in the right shop, it's beautiful everywhere

Excellent meat... Unfortunately, going to the bathroom required a mask and pee-proof boots. I had to go home to use the bathroom. The unpleasant smell of pee wafted all the way up the restaurant. Service is as important as the food.

2nd attempt Unfortunately, no service at the outdoor seating in the bright sunshine. So, no Blockhouse again. What a pity... Long wait, mediocre friendliness. I can't say anything about the food; I didn't have much time.

Atmosphere was horrible. Block house me want to leave the minute I walked in. The music selection made it even worse, I genuinely could have asked a toddler to play music, and it would have better. The ambience of block house vs the food and atmosphere clashed on a level that I couldn't comprehend. I will never be attending block house attending

The quality of the Block House is unmatched anywhere in Germany. Here, the service was very accommodating, the food arrived quickly, and, as always, was first-class.

It was very loud, and the rump steak for €30 was heavily laced with tendons, making it hard to chew and very flimsy. The price/performance ratio was absolutely terrible. The staff was very friendly!

How dare they sell such tough, old steak? It's unbelievable! It's as old as the steakhouse itself, a century-old steak. 😪😪 The chef who made the steak must have never eaten homemade steak. I can't even give it one star! I invite the owner to try steak in Shanghai, Tokyo, or New York. You'll understand my disbelief. Warning to Asian customers: Don't eat steak at this restaurant.🤢🤢🤢

We went there on Saturday evening around 6:30 p.m. As soon as it got busy, the chef couldn't keep up. I had to send my meat back for the third time because it wasn't cooked. It's really annoying because the others were already finished, and you still had to wait for your food.

There's a separate menu for children with reasonably priced dishes. The restrooms are okay, and the large terrace is especially nice. Overall, this is a restaurant I can definitely recommend. Update from August 24, 2025: I was here again today and would like to give a little update. The food was good overall, although my salad had a piece with some dirt on it, and the steak was slightly burnt around the edges. Otherwise, it was fine. I've noticed a few times in the past that the salads aren't always washed thoroughly. Perhaps the owners could improve this a bit in the future.

Very attentive service, everything was served quickly. The steak was underseasoned for our taste; a simple herb butter would have helped. The fries were unseasoned/unsalted. Bottom line: a simple steak in a noisy atmosphere.

The steak and especially the side dishes are really excellent (for the price). The shop is also very clean; you get the feeling that Block House branches are often very well run.

Staff untrained, very inept, and unenthusiastic at work. -> "Mastercut" comes raw and with a lot of sinew. -> The sirloin steak is completely dry and never medium-rare.

I'm an absolute log cabin specialist. I've been to almost every branch across Germany. It's the exceptionally friendly service and consistent quality in every branch that sets this restaurant chain apart! I ate at the Leopoldstraße branch today on Sunday. A branch I've visited several times, but not for two years because I was stationed in Hamburg for work. The service is a disaster!!! I order my meal together with my partner. The food is brought to the table. No sauces, no quark, no ketchup, nothing. Meaning I have to wait minutes before it's served when the restaurant is busy!! I'm only used to these things being brought out first, for example, with the salad. Furthermore, when I asked for the bill, I wasn't asked if I enjoyed my meal. The waiter wasn't even interested in making eye contact or smiling. My child wasn't even asked if he wanted something to draw! Of course, there was no tip for that. The waiter didn't even thank me for the payment. I usually tip at least 15%. But since I noticed that the service was unfriendly, there's obviously no tip for that either. The Nuremberg branch was really, really weak in this regard a few years ago, but it has improved dramatically. I've been there several times in the last few weeks and I must say that things have improved a lot.

We visited Block House in Munich for the first time yesterday. Since I enjoy eating and preparing steak myself, I was very disappointed with the prime rump steak (300g) for €36. It was medium-rare, and the 300g was definitely not worth €300. The burgers on the menu are confusing, as they only serve bread with the patty on it, and the €14 turkey salad was barely bigger than my side salad. The service was very friendly, but visibly overwhelmed (the restaurant wasn't even half full). We would have liked more to drink with our meal, but they only asked us quickly if it was okay. If we wanted to say something, they were already gone. During the time we were there, at least two other guests felt the same way. In conclusion: if you're really hungry, you should go to another restaurant. Unfortunately, they don't offer much for their money.

My choise Hereford Rib-Eye medium raw was juicy and tender, more juicy and tender than Mr. Rumpsteak of my partner. She mentioned to take the Rib-Eye on our next visit. Yes, there will be next visit. Had a chance to check the mighty T-Bone: would have been a good choise also! Salad: juicy but somewhat regular. Super service: was a jolly friendly move to bring sekt glasses with birhtday song of Stevie Wonder to celebrate one of us! :-)

Very nice family oriented restaurant. The first time I expirenced such service. The kids got something to paint, and then almost immediately after ordering food they got their dishes. The food was, as always, top-notch! But I'm used to a different kind of service. First, I had to wait 20 minutes before I could order a drink, which I was understanding about since it had just started pouring and everything had to be put away safely. But then: Ordered the meat medium/well, got it cooked in English. Ordered a second loaf of bread, which was questioned twice. We also asked for a second portion of sour cream, but we only got one, so we ordered again. The meat, of course, was changed! It's certainly not easy working there, but it would have been good if the young man who served us had a bit more confidence in the language and didn't have to question everything.

After being put off by another steakhouse chain and still craving steak, we decided to go to Block House Leopoldstr. We don't regret this decision at all! The service was prompt, the food was prepared quickly, and it was delicious. We'll only be going here from now on. They even gave my child a beach ball.

It's located on the road leading to Marienplatz, an avenue lined with restaurants. The place is very cute, and the staff is friendly and smiling (which is unusual in Germany, so it's appreciated). The meat is delicious. Recommended

The steak wasn't tender at all, but had a decent flavour. The potato wasn't thoroughly cooked and not edible and then you get some cheap toasted bread. No greens, no nothing. Overall disappointing experience, can't recommend, we won't come back!

Raw steak even though I ordered medium

We ate there today. Getting a table was no problem at all on a Friday evening at 6 p.m. The food was mediocre: we ordered and received a medium-rare steak. The side dish was a very dry and overcooked baked potato with a tiny dollop of sour cream. It was served with a tough piece of garlic baguette. The salad was okay. All this for €25 is okay, but not a bargain. Drinks were normal Munich prices. I would describe the service as "they always made an effort"... not exactly overly friendly and at times inattentive. (Empty glasses could mean someone would like another drink!) All in all, no reason for us to go there again.

We had really great and friendly service, the steaks were OK, but I can't understand how everyone can praise this steak house! Then you've never really eaten steak before, everything was carelessly prepared, the fries were soggy, and the gratin and sauces tasted like canteen food! It's a real shame 😖 for us it was the first and last time.

The food was delicious. You're served quickly, and you don't have to wait long for your food or drink. The atmosphere is nice, too. The only real downside is that the waiters throw the dishes into their serving carts like there's no tomorrow. The noise makes eating no fun, and you just gulp it down. What a shame.

The food was great; about €25 for a super juicy steak with two side dishes and a large salad seems more than fair to me. The lava cake with ice cream and raspberry sauce was a bit small for €7, but it tasted fantastic. The young waiter was very friendly and accommodating.

Dear Block House team, we visited you again and it was, as always, absolutely fantastic. Today, we have to highlight: Abdel had our table. According to the name tag, he was a trainee. He was simply great with guests, very polite, extremely helpful, and with a clear eye for the guests. Keep it up. We'll be happy to come back.

A solid restaurant with a nice rustic atmosphere. Very good quality meat, recommended for all steak lovers. Large selection of dishes, including lunch menus and weekly specials, are offered. Fast and friendly service. The only point of criticism is that the cheese burger unfortunately doesn't have much in common with a classic burger, this should definitely be mentioned in the menu!

We're regulars and always celebrate our birthdays here – this was the last time. We waited over 2 hours for the food. When I complained, they 'doubted' it because "they have to check the system to see when we ordered." What a disgrace! We were also here with a small child, who, of course, didn't sit still at the table and wait for 2 hours... Thanks for no service.

I've been going to block house since 2012 and honestly love the food and the quality is still perfect after 13 years. The filet Mignon medium rare is just always perfect!! But today I've had experienced the worst service ever. I might not be accustomed to the German way of drinking beer during work, but when my waiter stands there drinking beer at the bar and talking to his colleagues literally ignoring all his customers and im left trying to pay so i can leave for 10 minutes. Thats just not acceptable. (Pictures added to the review) Please do a proper check on the quality of the people hired, your food is too good to be ruined by a bad service experience.

Ι was recently in this restaurant which is a chain restaurant in Germany . We had burata tomato salad( very fresh) and a Rib-eye master cut which was really great...The meat was very well cooked and with a side baked potato really tasty ..The desert chocolate lava with ice cream was also very good . But I would really like to mention the excellent service of Vasiliki our waitress was very efficient and warm ..A great dinner in conclusion...Prices are reasonable 30-50 euro depending on the wine or beer you will have

Every time I go to Munich, I go at least once for lunch or dinner. Good food, great service and a place to go with kids.
