Everything was great, great desserts. The waffle and the chocolate lava cake are great. T-bone steak is highly recommended… we will be back

Food was very tasty and staff was very friendly!

Our server was terrible. Did not check on us, did not respond to getting salad bar or drinks. Was flirting non stop with bartender. There was nobody in the restaurant on 1/8/25. Maybe he should consider another professional than hipster doofus waiter with no skills.

Their red meat is really good. I asked for it well cooked and it was cooked really well. It was also very good with a French style salad. I preferred local beers. The portions are large and filling, and you can find these restaurants in every city in Germany.

The food was pretty standard and reminded me of America! I did not care for the salad. The waiter was hard to flag down for the check, but the service was great. The environment was nice and quiet. I didn't know it was a tourist trap, but I did like it.

Delicious steak in the usual good Blockhouse style. Waiters also very friendly. I was here on Friday evening and it was very crowded, so it's worth making a reservation in advance!

The meat hadnice smoky flavour but what was disappointing was the burger was not actually a burger but beef over bread. Service took long and when I picked up the bill, what I disliked was the waitress called out the value of the bill (I was treating guests and I thought this was rude and also not common practice).

We called at lunchtime to make a reservation for two people and were told to just come along and no reservation was necessary. In the evening we stood in front of the door and waited for more than 30 minutes. The conditions at the table were great. Food comes quickly, but you can notice/taste the mass processing. Steaks were medium as ordered and tasted ok.

The garlic bread is the star. And their ketchup tastes particularly good.

Very bad service of the waitress. Impolite attitude with 100% discrimination for the non German. Please be patient and do more understanding for some customers that may not really familiar with your country language.

Today we tried Blockhouse again after a long time. The steaks (rib eye and Irish prime) were good, but the wine and especially the dessert were very disappointing. When it came to the waffle, they said it was always like that and would come back the same way if I let it go back. I didn't eat them (but had to pay for them!). However, the service was really nice and we felt very welcome.

The problem is that a steak restaurant doesn't know the doneness of the steak!!!!!!!!!! I felt like this was a very bad experience. I arrived with great expectations. The steaks are very meaty. My friend originally ordered the Medrum rare steak, and it was indeed Medrum good. The waiter insisted that it was a rare medrum, much older than the other medrums. I can't imagine I planned this dinner a month in advance. I am very disappointed. Firstly, the waiter has serious service problems and, like the guests, is very impatient.

Salmon and spinach in frozen quality, with a dollop of mushy potato gratin and sauce. Reminds me of hospital food. It's a shame about the 25€, but it's your own fault - maybe you shouldn't order a fish dish in a steak restaurant.

We were offered another drink today when we arrived After we wanted to order dessert we were told that we had to leave now. You are not allowed to sit for longer than 2 hours because the table is needed. We were not informed of this beforehand. Never been like that before. Possibly new policy of the house.

My family had a bad experience yesterday at this restaurant. We made a table reservation and by the time we got there, a male staff in the reception spoke to us rudely that our reservation was being cancelled . But a lady came later and attended to us calmly . To end with the food was very spectacular

Never, ever a 4.4. Very bad wines, the meat was just tough, the fish was overcooked, the spinach from the microwave? You get what you pay for. It's better to spend twice as much and experience a hundred times the enjoyment, or stay at home.

Nice location it reminds me of an English pub. Otherwise, both our dishes were overcooked. Wine is of a very poor quality, probably bought with 3€ bottle from. LIDL. It doesn't justify 8 Euro per glass.

I've been going to this steak restaurant for twenty-five years. The steak meat is of the same high quality. The price/performance ratio is right. The service is courteous. The ambience contains American components. I like this very much. Keep it up!

Unfortunately, my impression of this restaurant has been clouded recently. The friendliness and communication skills of the employees now leave a lot to be desired. The conversations seem mechanical and rehearsed, without any personal touch or empathy. A visit to a restaurant should not only impress with good food, but also with warm service. But here there is a lack of attention and the feeling of being welcomed as a guest. It's a shame, because this has a significant impact on the overall impression. I hope that more emphasis is placed on hospitality here again, as the restaurant has the potential to leave a much better impression.

The restaurant serves very delicious steak, the meat is tender but still retains its sweetness. Salad is also very delicious and fresh, very delicious. The restaurant space is also very beautiful and cozy. I've been here in both winter and summer. If you come in summer, you can choose to sit outside in the courtyard, which is very cool. The service staff is also very enthusiastic and friendly. Very impressed with the restaurant's pink checkered napkins, both classic and still very elegant and Bavarian.

I come here to eat with a friend about every 2 months. It is always very good, especially the cooking level is always perfect. The waitresses are always very friendly, efficient, there when you need them, but not intrusive. We have never been disappointed and always enjoy coming back. The only thing that's really annoying is the loud music when it's a guest's birthday! It really doesn't have to be the case that our conversations are interrupted 2, 3 or most recently 4 times in the evening just because a completely unknown person has a birthday somewhere in the other corner! You could really get rid of this childish custom, or at least massively reduce the volume of it.

We had our two classics again Hereford ribeye and the filet mignon both perfectly cooked the way we wanted Salad at the front is always fresh and crunchy And the baked potato with the house sour cream is always good too! Quality is always top and has been a clear recommendation for years!

Well organized, so you can be assigned a table without an appointment and without long waiting times.

The food was very good and we were full. Since there was no 1/2 liter wine, we took 0.75 liter bottle. I couldn't drink all of it. Service was attentive and friendly. However, the lady didn't come when we paid. She had already finished work, which we didn't know. We wouldn't be told that. We paid with a colleague.

The food is delicious, the kitchen knows how to make it. The service could be a little more attentive.

After being greeted at the table with pieces of paper that explained the management's crude political views, I unfortunately didn't go straight away and instead ordered a burger. To summarize: When I order a burger, I don't just expect to find a sad burger patty on my plate. My wife's steak, although ordered medium, was rare. And the prices aren't exactly low for what you get. The service was ok, but the staff wasn't really friendly. All in all, definitely not a recommendation from me.

We tried steak which were great, but desserts might be better.

We ate here on Sunday at around 2 p.m. in a group of three before we headed home. The greeting was ok and the order was taken quickly. From then on it went downhill. When it came to the salad, the wish not to use arugula was ignored. Of the 3 dishes, 2 were at best ok and the third was small but otherwise okay. The burger consisted of a burnt (and no, not smoky) tasting piece of meat gratinated with slightly burnt cheese on a rubbery piece of baguette. I understand different things by burger and I'm used to better things from Blockhouse. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, we could only respond with “well, that’s okay.” This was simply acknowledged with a puzzled look and without question. Since the service and food were not convincing, there was no tip (this had to be entered on the card terminal without the bill being shown). Afterwards the waiter was in such a bad mood that he threw down the receipt and walked away without a word. Absolutely inadequate, if we had had time we would have discussed it with the manager. NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE!

Very good food, reasonable prices for Leopoldstrasse. Friendly welcome, which is not always the case in the area. Service was relatively professional and quick enough despite a visit on Saturday evening. Not overly original, but a very good choice for a nice evening with good food

Every time I go to Germany, I always find a Block House

I dined at Block House with two friends on 26th September 2024 after a day of sightseeing, expecting a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor from the moment we walked in. The waiter merely waved us to a table without a word, setting a lacklustre tone. Our waitress appeared annoyed when she realised we spoke English, rudely snatching our menus and replacing them with English versions. She immediately pressed us for drink orders, even though we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu, and her impatience was palpable. Things took a turn for the worse when one of my friends asked about the salad. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, the waitress dismissively told him that it was her responsibility to prepare the food, which was completely uncalled for. Despite this rude service, we decided to stay and hope for a better experience. Sadly, the food was also disappointing. My ribeye steak was served raw inside, even though I had ordered it medium rare, the marbling was scarce and the cut was full of tendons. The salad was decent, but it felt overshadowed by the unpleasantness of the service. Dessert offered a glimmer of hope with a delicious apfelstrudel, but even that was tainted. My Bailey's Irish Cream came with unwanted ice cubes, diluting the drink without my request. By this point, we just wanted to pay and leave. When the waitress asked if we wanted the bill split, her eye-rolling response to our request for separate bills only confirmed how unwelcome we felt. Overall, the service at Block House was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. I left feeling like we were unwanted guests. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience—there are far better options in Munich.

We had extremely bad experiences in the blockhouse at the main train station. The meat smelled like our cat's bad breath. So the Blockhaus restaurant died for us. When we felt like having steak one day, I told my husband that we would give the restaurant on Leopoldstrasse a second chance. Starting with a unique service from Natajia Haimerl, the negative experiences slowly began to disappear until the main course came and the meat, when there were really no negative experiences at all. We're extremely fans of Block House again. We also have this one waitress to thank for that. Such waitresses are far too rare. If I had a restaurant, I would recruit this woman immediately. During my last visit in July I probably would have given a better rating. Today the steak had a slightly burnt taste. Decoration on the plates is overrated, but we know that from chains like this. The service was subpar. Even though the restaurant wasn't even half full at lunchtime, I had to ask for the menu twice. Likewise, it was a challenge to get the bill. Das preferred chatting with several people at the drinks buffet. Yes, such annoying guests can ruin your working day... For me: I'll definitely be in a block house again on a business trip if I don't know my way around. In cities I know, I prefer to eat higher quality food for not significantly more money.

Dear Block House team. I found the filet mignon to be average at best. BUT: A few days ago you commented positively on a review by Luis Jovanovic. I wonder what was eaten there? What do I have to order to get the same thing as in the photo posted? Looks delicious. I'm looking forward to an answer.

The Blockhouse here in downtown Munich is really fantastic! I would like to once again specifically highlight the employees who make the experience even better, super super friendly, and like the last few times, “YAN” served. It's noticeably emptier than other places and it's very clean and tidy. As always, the food was the same and the meat was simply great. We always take the tenderloin, potato gratin and coleslaw as a starter, the carpaccio and the carpaccio also has a pesto on top with fresh herbs and radishes, which really highlights the whole thing, something we hadn't had in other Blockhouses. With 2 specials 129.00 euros, what more could you want? You'll be more than full for a dessert, it wasn't enough anymore 😅 we rolled out. Absolutely recommended. There was only a children's birthday party in the steakhouse that day, it was relatively empty, maybe 10 guests and the family probably knew the manager(?). There were few guests there, but for many it was a lot of money and the guests simply felt loudly confiscated Half the shop and there was loud music for a while, we just found it a bit inappropriate compared to others who want to eat their food in peace, even if they know each other, others spend a lot of money and want to enjoy the moment in peace for themselves. We just wished we had been a little more considerate of other tables, we were just a bit unlucky but nonetheless we would continue to visit the shop.

You wait 5 minutes in front of the door, even though there are 6 free tables outside. Under no circumstances order hamburgers or cheeseburgers. The kitchen has no idea about it. Service is slow and frustrating, drinks are often forgotten. Side dishes are too few or too expensive. Hardly any parking spaces.

Excellent for those who love quality meat

Pros: The waitress was nice even after our complaint about the food. If you only order the main courses from the steak menu, you will get very tasty meat. Negative: The side dish of potato gratin is a joke in terms of quantity. 1 1/2 tbsp for 5€ is “pretty” little. A steak with mushrooms was stringy. In one dish the spaetzle was cold, little and partly already dried out. In my opinion, the dip for the potatoes tasted purely of glutamate and was anything but a tasty fresh product, which surprises me, because salting the quark and mixing it with a few herbs doesn't take that much effort to do yourself. It's easy to prepare even in advance without having to buy it ready-made (I'm assuming that's the case, otherwise I don't understand why you only get the dip with the kilo of preservatives). And we had to wait an hour for food, but I think the staff was at full capacity, so that can happen. I've been there twice before and always thought it was really good. Unfortunately it has worn off quite a bit. Unfortunately, the ambience cannot diminish the fact that the food was not good. I would also prefer to give one star, but because of the service, who tried not to let us see the stress in the store and looked after us nicely. Gives a plus point.

Amazing steaks! It worth a visit if you are in Munich.

Been a regular customer in various cities for almost 20 years. Regular customer in Munich for 10 years. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly in the last few months. Orders are forgotten (salad was forgotten before the steak), waiters don't know who ordered what and go from table to table with the plates, chefs prefer to look at their cell phones rather than at the steak. Order steak medium and it arrives half raw. Have to have it returned to the kitchen, which I really almost never do. I also often ordered the French onion soup...significantly less onions and less cheese than in previous years. Not so tasty anymore. Unfortunately it has happened to me here several times and so I had to write a review. It also seems as if there are fewer staff and they are naturally overwhelmed and can't do anything about it. Management should rethink personnel planning here - especially on weekends! It's no longer the experience it used to be and I think it's time to look for something new.

The best steak house in Munich! Friendly people and delicious food!

A celebratory meal which was everything we could have hoped. The steaks were just perfect - fresh, juicy, beautifully cooked, and with the signature jacket potato they were delicious. The linguine dish was also excellent. The only issue we had was that it was a challenge to attract our server's attention but I believe he was being newly trained on the job. Otherwise a great experience, a wonderful meal on the terrace, on a lovely warm evening.

Good meat in the center of Munich

Good steaks and have been for many years.

For the steak we ordered on August 4th. The pan-fried vegetables ordered with it were not served. When I asked later, they said that there were no more vegetables and that the cook would not prepare anything. I will never enter this restaurant again!

Avoided the hamburger as suggested here and ordered the Fillet Medallions with Vegetables. The meat (2 pieces around 5-6cm x 4cm) was very juicy and cooked nicely. The gratin and vegetables were fine, but not amazing. "American dressing" is something like French dressing or like thousand island without the pickles.

This time too, perfect steaks, delicious salad and excellent service. Many thanks to Julia! We would love to come back.

The Block House was something of a revelation for me. I was there by chance, the visit was not planned. The menu appealed to me and I spontaneously decided to try the "Mr. Rumpsteak". OK, American cuisine isn't for everyone. The portions are generous, the taste is excellent for my senses, but what particularly surprised me was the feeling of satiety. It's often the case that when I eat out, I feel empty in my stomach or I'm actually really hungry. This means that the food has no real nutritional value and my body cannot utilize it. It was different here: I felt really full, full of energy, stronger and stronger than before. The side dishes were also more than satisfying not only visually but also in terms of taste. The lady who served me really made an effort. Although she had some difficulty walking, she was always smiling and friendly, as if she really enjoyed her job. She deserves the tip! The only thing that left something to be desired was the decoration and the ambience. I come from a different (food) culture, we often have music playing, things are a little more relaxed, people talk more and are louder. It was a bit "cool", but that's probably normal with a guest you don't know. Edit: Can someone explain to me why I can't choose "Mr. Rumpsteak" from the dishes I would recommend? All I see is "Mrs. Rumpsteak"

The French fries were disappointing, as they tasted more like McDonald's fries. The steak was far too hard and tough, making it difficult to enjoy. The burger was just mediocre, with nothing particularly special about it. For a meal that cost 50 euros, I expected a much higher quality. It wasn't the worst meal I've had, but it certainly didn't live up to the price. Wouldn't recommend it for the value.

I would have said that eating in this restaurant is a matter of taste. My rating would be 3.7/5.

Unbelievable unfriendly - asked if I can order something for take away and that I had forgotten my bike lock and therefore would like to order from outside. After a unfriendly eye roll I was left waiting 10mins until I decided to walk in and all of a sudden I was surrounded by 3 staff memeber who explained to me that they are busy but somehow all 3 had time to tell me to wait outside and that some would come in that moment - rude just unbelievably rude staff - very disappointed. There are other better Block House restaurants - go there instead… The manager who was just as rude

The meat was juicy and well seasoned. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. The ambience was very nicely decorated. The tables were not placed so close together and I found that very comfortable. Definitely a clear recommendation.

Giovanni is a very attentive and friendly service person. The food was very good and the price was still acceptable for Leopoldstrasse! Nothing has changed with the facility for almost 15 years!

Very tasty food in the usual Block House quality, friendly staff and food on the table quickly. Good portions. A must for every stay in Munich. Easily accessible by subway or a walk through the English Garden. Thanks also to Natalija for the nice service.

We were at the Blockhouse today (Saturday around 2:30 p.m.). The food was a delight! The steak was perfectly fried, the baked potato was delicious and the sour cream was a poem! The salad and garlic bread were also delicious. The waitress, Mara was her name, was very friendly and accommodating. However, what completely convinced me was the following incident: There was a misunderstanding when ordering and a different steak was brought to me without any discussion. With complete side dishes, even though I had already eaten them. Additionally, I was served a free bruschetta as an apology. I haven't received service like this anywhere in years. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend it to all customers. Thank you for this experience!

The fillet steak with grilled vegetables was very good. The baked potato would have needed 3 or 4 minutes more. We can't recommend the chicken at all - it's way too dry. Conclusion - better order steak in a steakhouse. The service was attentive, quick and good.
