Block House Munich – A perfect steak experience! I had the pleasure of visiting the Block House in Munich and can only say: an absolute must for all steak lovers! From start to finish, my visit was a completely successful experience. Ambience & atmosphere The restaurant has a very pleasant, cozy atmosphere. The furnishings are modern, but still rustic and invite you to feel good. Although it was well attended, you didn't feel cramped - everything seemed well organized and structured. service The service was first class! The staff was friendly, attentive and very competent. I was immediately warmly welcomed, my order was taken quickly, and I was regularly asked whether everything was to my satisfaction. That's exactly how it should be! Food & Quality Now to the most important point: the food. I ordered a T-bone steak and it was just perfect! Cooked to perfection, incredibly tender and full of flavor. You can tell that quality is really important here. The side dishes – the crispy Block House bread with delicious garlic butter, the fresh salad and the classic baked potatoes – were also simply outstanding. The drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired. Whether a good glass of wine with your steak or a refreshing beer – everyone will find something to suit them here. Price-performance I think the prices are absolutely reasonable for the high quality of the food. You really get the best meat, excellent preparation and excellent service - you're happy to pay a little more. Conclusion My visit to the Block House Munich was perfect all around! Everything is just right here: great ambience, top service and, above all, great food. If you want to enjoy a first-class steak in Munich, this is the right place for you. I will definitely come back and can only recommend it to everyone!

After 23 years as a regular guest at the Blockhouse Munich, Leopoldstrasse, I have to express my opinion after about 150-180 visits. The fact that prices are rising is unfortunately a given, just like everywhere else - but the fact that quality is falling at the same time doesn't have to be the case. It is even advertised that Blockhouse is lowering the prices, but the fact that the portions have become smaller and unfortunately the quality has suffered massively was not stated in the advertising. Today I had the American Tenderloin - like I've always ordered for years; But now it has reached a level where I can no longer justify paying around €40 for such quality. The outside of the meat was unpleasantly burnt, tough, and of poor quality. The baked potato wasn't cooked through and the Blockhouse bread was burnt all around. When I asked the Asian waiter whether it was tasty, he replied: “I've eaten better here before than this time. And unfortunately I'm not satisfied," I was smiled at with a nod and he disappeared without understanding a single syllable... I certainly don't want to tell you what to do in service, but at least make sure that people understand the guests somewhat. Overall, within 20 years, a great steakhouse has turned into a place that I can no longer eat there or want to eat there. It's a shame. The second star is only there because the people are polite and friendly, but what good is a smile if I can't stop laughing while eating?

Unfortunately I have to agree with the previous review, there are burgers on the menu and what you get is a bad tasting burger patty with a piece of baguette and a baked potato. This has absolutely nothing to do with burgers and the name on the menu is definitely misleading. When I asked the service staff, they simply said that they would inform tourists. Definitely the first and last visit to the Block House.

My buddy: sirloin steak (160g) with fries Me: Rib-eye steak (400g) - There was a bill under my steak, some of which I ate because I didn't notice it at first (it was probably a greeting from the kitchen) - My friend's cooking level wasn't right and his fries were cold - There was a strong smell of urine in the toilet. Dust was deposited on the taps (I have no idea how you do that in a busy restaurant, but that's how it was). Had the charm of a train station SchXXX house - My rib eye steak was ok; but it used to be better. Meat was good. Salad was fresh and extremely tasty, but the bread turned out really bad I would have laughed at the slip-up with the bill if everything else had worked out. Unfortunately, it only added to my poor overall picture. The waitress was visibly uncomfortable and we got a steak pepper to make up for it. I used to really like the Blockhouse and it was my steakhouse of choice. However, it has decreased significantly, which can also be seen from the reviews of other guests. Overall, it now reminds me of a fast food restaurant. The prices are ok, but the quality and hygiene are so-so...

Many might think Block House is just another steakhouse chain, but in my opinion, it’s one of the best—you always get exactly what you came for. The meat selection is great, and the menu is satisfying and filling. One of the best parts is how family-friendly the place is—if you go with kids, they get something to color on during the meal and even a small present at the end of lunch, which is a nice touch. The staff is always very forthcoming and friendly, making the experience even better. I would always choose to visit this particular branch on Leopoldstraße—highly recommended!

I had a Blockhous Burger and my son a Tenderline Steak. In both cases the baked potato wasn't even lukewarm. For the price I'm used to something different in Hamburg. We were sitting near the counter and it smelled like toilet stone!😳 I told the service, there was no response. Guess he wasn't interested!

Dear Block House team, for many years we have been celebrating more than just our birthdays at the Block House. The food is fantastic and the service cannot be surpassed in terms of friendliness and competence :-) High praise. Unfortunately I was very disappointed yesterday. We had ordered 2* the 2 turkey steaks and 2 about 5 sqcm! got large pieces of meat (you almost overlooked it :-)) with a medium potato and a piece of bread for € 16.--? The portions were otherwise much larger. My mother's meat was almost raw and fibrous (you should have complained about this). Over the years we have always received a small gift on our birthdays, be it a glass of Prosecco or a dessert. The waitress acknowledged that it was my birthday. The other two birthday children in the room also reacted negatively to this. Are these now savings options? It's a shame...but again, big praise for the service.

All in all - 9/10 points It only took an hour - from being placed to paying. It was, as you would expect at prime time, very busy. The service was incredibly fast and professionally friendly. The food also tasted great, but in my opinion it was a bit too expensive. I ordered medium, but it was more in the English direction -> the only criticism of the food. The number of guests combined with the fast service made it feel a bit like an assembly line. Still highly recommended!

We went without an appointment. You need to make an appointment one day in advance. They do not give same day appointments. We waited for about 30 minutes Steaks are great. Mr. Steak is the most ideal and satisfying. I recommend medium cooked. It is also delicious when cooked well. They do not dry. If you eat in Turkey in the same environment and quality, you will pay more. Apple pies come hot and freshly baked. Extra for lovers I recommend the garlic bread dip. Steak comes with baked potatoes and salad on a large plate. Drinks and dessert are around €40 per person.

Unfortunately, I have the impression that the quality has decreased significantly. I dine at the restaurant for over a decade (ca. once a month). Given the time and experience with the restaurant, I can refer to my visit, today, as a disaster. As a welcome, be prepared to get judged and treated by your looks alone, and if thought to be a tourist await cheap and primitive "oriental bazaar"-like extortion attempts along the lines of "this is included in the price" (when it never was, and is not), rather off putting practice. I was served by an inexperienced, somewhat arrogant young waiter, shouting his responses / information to me, putting table items onto my hands / pushing my hands off the table, with absolutely no capability to understand and communicate in English: - Unable to answer a question "what's your biggest steak?" - When ordered a steak without potatoe or bread (as sides), got both served with the meat and was met by their "expressed surprise attitude" when reminded them my actual order. - Ordered green tea, got served an herbal infusion instead. When requested a green tea again, got "only one" as an answer and information about their tea selection. After a while, it turned out they also have a black tea. - Their knives (steak knives) are completely blunt. You can run them against your skin without any risk of a single scratch (did that). Good luck trying to focus on a conversation instead of the struggle to cut the meat. - When asked for a sharper knife, got "only one" as an answer. Their terrible service was, to certain extent, remmedied by a decent quality steak.

Today we tried Blockhouse again after a long time. The steaks (rib eye and Irish prime) were good, but the wine and especially the dessert were very disappointing. The problem is that a steak restaurant doesn't know the doneness of the steak!!!!!!!!!! I felt like this was a very bad experience. I arrived with great expectations. The steaks are very meaty. My friend originally ordered the Medrum rare steak, and it was indeed Medrum good. The waiter insisted that it was a rare medrum, much older than the other medrums. I can't imagine I planned this dinner a month in advance. I am very disappointed. Firstly, the waiter has serious service problems and, like the guests, is very impatient.

Unfortunately, my impression of this restaurant has been clouded recently. The friendliness and communication skills of the employees now leave a lot to be desired. I come here to eat with a friend about every 2 months. It is always very good, especially the cooking level is always perfect. The waitresses are always very friendly, efficient, there when you need them, but not intrusive. We have never been disappointed and always enjoy coming back. The only thing that's really annoying is the loud music when it's a guest's birthday! It really doesn't have to be the case that our conversations are interrupted 2, 3 or most recently 4 times in the evening just because a completely unknown person has a birthday somewhere in the other corner! You could really get rid of this childish custom, or at least massively reduce the volume of it.

After being greeted at the table with pieces of paper that explained the management's crude political views, I unfortunately didn't go straight away and instead ordered a burger. To summarize: When I order a burger, I don't just expect to find a sad burger patty on my plate. My wife's steak, although ordered medium, was rare. And the prices aren't exactly low for what you get. The service was ok, but the staff wasn't really friendly. All in all, definitely not a recommendation from me.

We ate here on Sunday at around 2 p.m. in a group of three before we headed home. The greeting was ok and the order was taken quickly. From then on it went downhill. When it came to the salad, the wish not to use arugula was ignored. Of the 3 dishes, 2 were at best ok and the third was small but otherwise okay. The burger consisted of a burnt (and no, not smoky) tasting piece of meat gratinated with slightly burnt cheese on a rubbery piece of baguette. I understand different things by burger and I'm used to better things from Blockhouse. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, we could only respond with “well, that’s okay.” This was simply acknowledged with a puzzled look and without question. Since the service and food were not convincing, there was no tip (this had to be entered on the card terminal without the bill being shown). Afterwards the waiter was in such a bad mood that he threw down the receipt and walked away without a word. Absolutely inadequate, if we had had time we would have discussed it with the manager. NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE!

Very good food, reasonable prices for Leopoldstrasse. Friendly welcome, which is not always the case in the area. Service was relatively professional and quick enough despite a visit on Saturday evening. Not overly original, but a very good choice for a nice evening with good food

I dined at Block House with two friends on 26th September 2024 after a day of sightseeing, expecting a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor from the moment we walked in. The waiter merely waved us to a table without a word, setting a lacklustre tone. Our waitress appeared annoyed when she realised we spoke English, rudely snatching our menus and replacing them with English versions. She immediately pressed us for drink orders, even though we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu, and her impatience was palpable. Things took a turn for the worse when one of my friends asked about the salad. Instead of providing a straightforward answer, the waitress dismissively told him that it was her responsibility to prepare the food, which was completely uncalled for. Despite this rude service, we decided to stay and hope for a better experience. Sadly, the food was also disappointing. My ribeye steak was served raw inside, even though I had ordered it medium rare, the marbling was scarce and the cut was full of tendons. The salad was decent, but it felt overshadowed by the unpleasantness of the service. Dessert offered a glimmer of hope with a delicious apfelstrudel, but even that was tainted. My Bailey's Irish Cream came with unwanted ice cubes, diluting the drink without my request. By this point, we just wanted to pay and leave. When the waitress asked if we wanted the bill split, her eye-rolling response to our request for separate bills only confirmed how unwelcome we felt. Overall, the service at Block House was reminiscent of Fawlty Towers. I left feeling like we were unwanted guests. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience—there are far better options in Munich.

We had extremely bad experiences in the blockhouse at the main train station. The meat smelled like our cat's bad breath. So the Blockhaus restaurant died for us. When we felt like having steak one day, I told my husband that we would give the restaurant on Leopoldstrasse a second chance. Starting with a unique service from Natajia Haimerl, the negative experiences slowly began to disappear until the main course came and the meat, when there were really no negative experiences at all. We're extremely fans of Block House again. We also have this one waitress to thank for that. Such waitresses are far too rare. If I had a restaurant, I would recruit this woman immediately. During my last visit in July I probably would have given a better rating. Today the steak had a slightly burnt taste. Decoration on the plates is overrated, but we know that from chains like this. The service was subpar. Even though the restaurant wasn't even half full at lunchtime, I had to ask for the menu twice. Likewise, it was a challenge to get the bill. Das preferred chatting with several people at the drinks buffet. Yes, such annoying guests can ruin your working day... For me: I'll definitely be in a block house again on a business trip if I don't know my way around. In cities I know, I prefer to eat higher quality food for not significantly more money.

Dear Block House team. I found the filet mignon to be average at best. BUT: A few days ago you commented positively on a review by Luis Jovanovic. I wonder what was eaten there? What do I have to order to get the same thing as in the photo posted? Looks delicious. I'm looking forward to an answer.

The Blockhouse here in downtown Munich is really fantastic! I would like to once again specifically highlight the employees who make the experience even better, super super friendly, and like the last few times, “YAN” served. It's noticeably emptier than other places and it's very clean and tidy. As always, the food was the same and the meat was simply great. We always take the tenderloin, potato gratin and coleslaw as a starter, the carpaccio and the carpaccio also has a pesto on top with fresh herbs and radishes, which really highlights the whole thing, something we hadn't had in other Blockhouses. With 2 specials 129.00 euros, what more could you want? You'll be more than full for a dessert, it wasn't enough anymore 😅 we rolled out. Absolutely recommended. There was only a children's birthday party in the steakhouse that day, it was relatively empty, maybe 10 guests and the family probably knew the manager(?). There were few guests there, but for many it was a lot of money and the guests simply felt loudly confiscated Half the shop and there was loud music for a while, we just found it a bit inappropriate compared to others who want to eat their food in peace, even if they know each other, others spend a lot of money and want to enjoy the moment in peace for themselves. We just wished we had been a little more considerate of other tables, we were just a bit unlucky but nonetheless we would continue to visit the shop.

You wait 5 minutes in front of the door, even though there are 6 free tables outside. Under no circumstances order hamburgers or cheeseburgers. The kitchen has no idea about it. Service is slow and frustrating, drinks are often forgotten. Side dishes are too few or too expensive. Hardly any parking spaces.

Pros: The waitress was nice even after our complaint about the food. If you only order the main courses from the steak menu, you will get very tasty meat. Negative: The side dish of potato gratin is a joke in terms of quantity. 1 1/2 tbsp for 5€ is “pretty” little. A steak with mushrooms was stringy. In one dish the spaetzle was cold, little and partly already dried out. In my opinion, the dip for the potatoes tasted purely of glutamate and was anything but a tasty fresh product, which surprises me, because salting the quark and mixing it with a few herbs doesn't take that much effort to do yourself. It's easy to prepare even in advance without having to buy it ready-made (I'm assuming that's the case, otherwise I don't understand why you only get the dip with the kilo of preservatives). And we had to wait an hour for food, but I think the staff was at full capacity, so that can happen. I've been there twice before and always thought it was really good. Unfortunately it has worn off quite a bit. Unfortunately, the ambience cannot diminish the fact that the food was not good. I would also prefer to give one star, but because of the service, who tried not to let us see the stress in the store and looked after us nicely. Gives a plus point.

Been a regular customer in various cities for almost 20 years. Regular customer in Munich for 10 years. Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated significantly in the last few months. Orders are forgotten (salad was forgotten before the steak), waiters don't know who ordered what and go from table to table with the plates, chefs prefer to look at their cell phones rather than at the steak. Order steak medium and it arrives half raw. Have to have it returned to the kitchen, which I really almost never do. I also often ordered the French onion soup...significantly less onions and less cheese than in previous years. Not so tasty anymore. Unfortunately it has happened to me here several times and so I had to write a review. It also seems as if there are fewer staff and they are naturally overwhelmed and can't do anything about it. Management should rethink personnel planning here - especially on weekends! It's no longer the experience it used to be and I think it's time to look for something new.

I was eating alone for lunch on Sunday, April 9, 2025. I was immediately offered a great seat outside. The waiter who served me was extremely friendly and competent! I ordered a 400g ribeye steak. The steak was nicely marbled with fat, super tasty, and the fries were really good. They even included dessert with the fries for no extra charge. The only thing I didn't like was that the steak had to cook for a long time on the stone. I needed a second stone, which arrived immediately. I actually needed a third, but I didn't want that, and it was just about medium. Next time, I'd order it medium so I don't have to cook it myself for so long. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. Best wishes from Heidiland (Switzerland).

Amazing Experience at El Gaucho in Munich! I recently dined at El Gaucho in Munich, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish.
