Kaari Pakora was a standout spiced curry gravy with wonderful pakora soaked inside. Tikka Biryani was an amazing experience. Biryani with smoky chicken tikka pieces was simply an amazing combination. As for Tikka BBQ, the meat was tender, and marinated in bold, tangy spices. A must-order for anyone who loves smoky, juicy grilled perfection! Highly recommended.

Authentic Pakistani-Indian Cuisine at Its Best! We had an amazing meal at Royal Punjab, truly a taste of authentic Pakistani-Indian flavors! The Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, perfectly spiced, and melted in the mouth.The Kaari Pakora was crispy on the outside and tender inside. And the Mango Lassi? Simply refreshing. Every dish was bursting with authentic taste, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Pakistani-Indian cuisine! We’ll definitely be back for more.

A wonderful Indian shop with an authentic atmosphere and delicious food. The food is freshly prepared and full of flavors. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive waitress Nahida, who always has a smile on her face and rounds off the service perfectly. Absolutely recommended!

Very poor food quality: We ordered chicken tika biryani but the rice was not well cooked and there was also smell in meat. Had stomach pain after some time of eating food and had to vomit.

As someone from India, I can confidently say that Royal Punjab serves some of the most authentic Indian food I’ve had outside of India. The flavors, the spices, and the traditional preparation methods are spot on—every bite takes me back home! The menu offers a fantastic selection of classic dishes, from rich and creamy Butter Chicken to perfectly spiced Biryanis and mouthwatering Tandoori specialties. The naan was fresh and fluffy, and the curries had the perfect balance of heat and depth. Beyond the incredible food, the service is outstanding. A special mention to Shaki, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. His friendly demeanor, attentiveness, and knowledge of the menu made us feel truly welcome. The entire staff was warm, professional, and genuinely cared about providing excellent hospitality. If you're looking for real Indian flavors and top-notch service, Royal Punjab is the place to go! I highly recommend it and will definitely be coming back soon.

Top food, nice service, the ambience is a bit run down and boring. Nevertheless, we would like to come back. Allergens (no wheat flour, no dairy products) are taken into account and the dishes are adapted.

I had an outstanding experience at Royal Punjab Restaurant, a 100% halal Pakistani restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic spices that brought out the true flavors of Pakistani cuisine. The owner was extremely cooperative and welcoming, greeting us warmly and ensuring we had everything we needed. It’s impressive to see that he has been running the restaurant for seven years with such dedication and passion. The quantity of the portions was generous, and the pricing was very reasonable. The aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant were also fantastic—clean, cozy, and beautifully designed, making it a perfect place for families and friends. Das Essen war grundsätzlich OK, wobei wir nichts großartiges bestellt haben. Die Bedienung war aber nicht gut. Der Kellner stellte das schmutzige Geschirr von dem Nachbartisch auf unseren Tisch vor unseren Nasen und lächelte dabei. Sowas habe ich auch in Indien selbst nicht erlebt. Auch die Reste vom Essen liegen auf dem Boden am Eingang zur Küche, also ganz hygienisch scheint das lokal auch nicht zu sein. Es gibt definitiv bessere indische Restaurants in Köln.

A brilliant place to have your lunch. Food tastes awesome over here. The atmosphere is very nice as well. Neat and clean place with a very well behaved manager. Price is good only as in Cologne such good dishes are tough to find. I had non veg thali which had both chicken and lamb.

Its a small restaurant but service is very quick. The quantity of food is good enough to eat. Taste is very good and delicious just like the Pakistan. Saag chicken is their very good dish for those who missed Pakistani Saag. It can be found here. I recommend it try a good food at a small and affordable place in original Desi food.

100% authentic Indian food. My Indian friend was here with me and confirmed that the food was served 1:1 in New Delhi. 5/5 stars. But be careful: If you can't eat spicy, order mild (!). Medium is already very spicy for Europeans. One of the best Indian restaurants I have visited in Germany.

It's no exaggeration to say this was by far the worst dining experience in terms of service that I've ever had. My expectations aren’t particularly high, neutral is usually good enough for me; but the behavior of the maître d’ (and that’s being generous) was outright appalling. From the moment I walked in, it's like she decided I didn’t fit the ambience. She seated me at the table farthest from the window and then spent the rest of my visit barely acknowledging my existence, as if I was beneath her. (At first I thought she might just be cranky, but she was noticeably friendlier to groups, slapping on that fake smile quite effortlessly.) The tipping point came when I stopped her after placing my order to ask a follow-up question, and I saw her actually roll her eyes. I’m no body language expert, but surely a paying customer deserves at least the *pretense* of respect?… Maybe I’m being overly sensitive, but nothing like this has EVER happened to me. Bad meals are one thing—where at least the staff make an effort but something just goes wrong—but this felt horrendous in a way which seemed both deliberate and yet entirely avoidable. I left feeling deeply sad and humiliated. On the bright side, the man who brought me the receipt was lovely, genuinely warm and enthusiastic. He even got me a small complimentary shot of mango lassi, which, while a simple gesture, did help lift my mood after such a miserable hour or so (though it was probably less than that—I really left as fast as I could). As for the food, I could be petty and complain about the slightly clumpy rice or the soggy texture and faintly acrid, stale smell of the roti, but in fact the food was basically fine. The rice was pleasantly fragrant and the lamb was soft and well-seasoned. The portions were also very generous—I couldn’t even finish my meal because I was so full. Overall, this place is a mixed bag: decent food with a toxic vibe. If you have a thicker skin than me and don’t mind being treated as little more than $$, come with friends—at least then, you might get a smile (albeit a fake one).

Food top, service top but... toilets a TOGO Dear restaurant team - the toilets don't work at all. On the one hand, the flush didn't work and the ladies' sink was broken. For me the rooms were just dingy. Please urgently do a basic cleaning including corners on the floor and repair the defective devices. For me, the location is always an important indication of the quality of cleanliness in the store and provides an indication of the general cleanliness. The ceiling hangings and pictures on the walls should also be dusted off. That's why I would only order to-go and not eat there again.

I recently dined at Royal Punjab and was thoroughly impressed with Onion Pakoda, Bhindi Masala, Dal Tadka, and Mango Lassi. The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was beautiful. The curries were rich and aromatic, showcasing a perfect balance of spices that made each bite enjoyable. However, I found the butter naan and garlic naan to be a bit disappointing. They lacked the soft, fluffy texture I expected, and the flavors didn’t quite stand out compared to the other dishes. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious entrees, but I would skip the naan on my next visit.

Yesterday I got to try the original Indian cuisine again and not just take photos. A pleasure. I tried Karahi chicken. Very tasty with a pleasant spiciness. Nice atmosphere with outdoor area. The friendly service makes the restaurant highly recommended.

Ordered a gin and tonic and the waiter brought it mixed from the counter and holding the glass in his hand and fingers close to the brim of the glass without using a tray 🤑No ice ,no Lemon nothing. When pointed out he tried to pick it up again using his bare hands. All the service was done without using trays. I hope the management will buy some trays and teach the staff to use it like you expect in a decent restaurant. Chicken tikka masala had too much color and not so good taste. Overall bad experience

Our favorite Indian restaurant! I've tried many others but none of them came close to this one in terms of food. We always enjoy eating here and can recommend it 100%!

The mix pakoras were good, but the chutneys were not. The mint chutney was with sweet vegan yogurt, so inedible. Tamarind chutney boring, no cumin just thick sour ketchup. The Paneer Korma is too convenient… Wouldn't eat there again especially because of the very high prices, just under €25 for a main course and a starter (no drink).

Don't go here unless you are a fan of very spicy food. I was forced to eat here. Despite the fact that the polite waiter asked and I confirmed "no pepper, no spicy" they brought good but very spicy meat. I couldn't eat it.

Really very tasty. We had lamb do piaza and royal punjab tandoori. Lamb Do piaza was very tasty, the tandoori was good and impressive (arrived smoking and boiling) Tandoori comes with a naan and a tomato masala sauce and the lamb do piaza with naan or rice. All in all, very good and friendly service.

My meal was very tasty, well seasoned and the naan bread was also delicious. The advice from the waitress was very good. The ambience is ok. A bit old-fashioned, but cozy 😉

I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Palak Paneer and it was the best I've ever tried in Germany. Such an amazing place that I accidentally found while walking past and thought I would give a try. I will definitely return! Also the Mango Lasee was great! Wow!

Wir hatten eine winachtsparty dor organisiert . aller dinge waren perfekt. Die Essen war sehr lacker.

Ich war dort im Rahmen einer Weihnachtsfeier. Es war ein total entspannter Abend mit klasse Essen (Lamm Tikka Masala), auch der gewünschte Schärfegrad wurde genau getroffen. Für Vegetarier gab es auch eine gute Auswahl oder einfach mit Service sprechen, Sonderwünsche wurden völlig unkompliziert berücksichtigt. Ein Kollege hatte sich mit scharfen Essen total verschätzt ,was überhaupt kein Problem für den Service war. Das Essen wurde neu gebracht,diesmal in "milder Version". Bei übrig gebliebenen Speisen wurde gefragt,ob das eingepackt werden soll. Hier hat alles gepasst,daher gebe ich gerne für Essen und Service volle Punktzahl. Hier wird man mich in Zukunft sicherlich öfter antreffen.

I visited this place with my friend and found it really amazing. Best place in Köln and surroundings to get Indian food in a cosy, traditional ambient. We went there on weekend it was full packed but service staff were kind enough to offer us a table so it’s better to book a table on weekends. Authentic Indian cooks. Essen war eine 10 von 10 und der Service war super! Wir hatten beide eine Gericht mit Hähnchen und dazu noch Reis und Knoblauch Nan. Ich kann den Joghurt Minz dip dazu sehr empfehlen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr aufmerksam und super freundlich. Nur bitte arbeitet an euerer Toilettenhygiene :/ wenn man einen so hochfrequentierten laden hat, dann ist es immer von Vorteil, wenn man regelmäßig schaut ob auf dem Klo noch alles sauber ist und evtl. Toilettenpapier fehlt.

Sehr große Auswahl an Gerichten. Eigentlich gut, aber Auswahl fällt schwer und ich habe mich gefragt, ob man so viele Gerichte immer frisch zubereiten kann. Beide Gerichte waren lecker, für perfekt fehlten aber Akzente, die das Ganze zu etwas Besonderem machen. Schade, dass es eher normal scharf war, obwohl ich explizit sehr scharf bestellt hatte. In England hätte mir bei dieser Bestellung alles gebrannt ;) Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Ambiente: klein und schon etwas älter. Aber trotzdem gemütlich.

I have lived in Cologne for 4 years and eaten from about 10 different Indian restaurants but after visiting here there's no reason to visit another one. All of the plates we tried were phenomenal, esp. the Royal Punjab mixed tandoori plate. The service staff was extremely friendly and warm as well. We'll certainly be visiting again in the near future.

Excellent food and wonderful service! They even gave our daughter a complimentary mango lassi!
