Ginti and More Bar & Restaurant in Köln

It was my first and last time at Ginti & More Bar in Cologne and I initially had a good impression: The restaurant was clean, the kitchen was visible - something I know differently from Indian restaurants and found positive. I ordered butter chicken and two small starters. Unfortunately, the chicken in the butter chicken was not tender, but rather riddled with tendons, making it barely edible. When I mentioned this to the service, I was simply told that this was "normal" - definitely disappointing for €22.90, especially as there were only four pieces of chicken in the meal. The real shock, however, came with the bill. Instead of paying at the table, you pay at the front - and here numerous dishes and drinks were added to my bill that I hadn't even ordered. Despite my repeated warnings, I was assured that the cash register system "knew what it was doing". In the end, I paid over €40 for things that I didn't consume. Only afterwards, when I read the Google reviews, did I realise that I was not the only one who had had this experience. It seems to be a common practice that I find absolutely dubious. In addition, the service seemed unfriendly and rushed - I felt like I was being pushed away from the table because they were constantly clearing the table and asking me if I was finished. Overall, a disappointing experience that I will definitely not repeat. Anyone who eats here should check the bill carefully!

I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful Indian restaurant and it was an absolute taste explosion! From the first to the last forkful, every dish was a delight. The spices were perfectly balanced, the ingredients were fresh and the preparation was masterful. Especially the butter chicken and the homemade naan were to die for! The service was also outstanding - friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with an authentic Indian flair. If you love real Indian cuisine or want to get to know it, you shouldn't miss this restaurant. I'll definitely be back! 5 stars!

Simply great! I had dinner at “Ginti and more” today and I was really impressed. The butter chicken was incredibly tasty, perfectly seasoned, creamy and simply great in terms of taste. One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to so far! The atmosphere is cozy, the service is super friendly, and the quality of the food speaks for itself. Definitely in my top 3 favorite restaurants. I would love to come back!

We ordered lunch. When we went to pay, they said cash only when they had card readers there. I was overcharged for my dish and they said it was a printer mistake on the menu and I still needed to pay. When I said that was illegal, they gave me the menu price. Shame, the food was good but they will take advantage of you.

Ginti is over rated. Overpriced and quantity is so small. Special shoutout to that short weird waiter working there. He is passive aggressive. He doesn't have much patience and come out rude. The waiter is very unwelcoming which automatically makes your experience not good enough.

For those on a small budget, only the day ticket from Monday to Friday is probably worth it. The service is very accommodating. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it's expensive there and even for a small snack (street food), which according to the manager was appetizers, we paid €50 including drinks for two people. If you order naan bread, you should know that the sauces also cost an extra €3.90. Unfortunately, payment with EC card was also refused. Please take cash with you.

I was traveling in Cologne for work and was looking for something to eat with my colleagues in the evening. We turned into the street which was totally inconspicuous. We then saw this restaurant and went straight in. We wouldn't be disappointed, the service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. Just something different.

Food was average but the respect to the Indian from the owner is zero ..they mostly focus on the local Germans crowd as customers for food and service...theowner speaks rudely to Indian customers...will not recommend to go here..food taste is also avg.

I've never had such a strange experience with service. Somehow three people served us at the same time and none of them could really speak German. In itself it wouldn't have been a problem to communicate in English, but it would have had to be mentioned first that you didn't speak German. We wanted to sit for a while after our meal and were asked five times if we were ready. Once is still ok. But they just wanted to throw us out. And we didn't sit there for 5 hours and blocked tables. There were still enough places available and we were there for less than an hour. I just thought that was cheeky and somehow totally stressed us out. Then I wanted to have something packed for me, which almost went wrong because I wasn't understood properly again. Ultimately I was allowed to do it myself. Weird shop and the food was also mediocre at best. Butter chicken is supposed to be tender, right? I would definitely avoid the store.

The food tasted very good, but it was far too crowded and the workers were too overworked. In addition, you don't need to make a reservation at all because you have to wait anyway.

Everything is great! A special thank you for the excellent hospitality and first class service. From start to finish everything was perfect – friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and an all-round great experience. Gladly again!

Amazing vibe of the restaurant and a great place to eat Nalli Nihari

This restaurant is a disgrace! Only cash is asked here. The service is a disaster - if you want to have a great evening without a headache you should avoid this restaurant. Something is going very wrong here. We were even tricked while eating - the staff don't care about your concerns. Piece of meat was stale and tasted rancid. We were assigned a prepared menu and were told that only these 3 dishes were available today. Others were told something different. Completely deception!

Disappointing experience – beware of hidden costs and questionable service! Unfortunately, our dinner at Ginti & More was a complete failure. The service was inattentive and unfriendly. The staff showed no effort to ensure guests had a pleasant stay. The price-performance ratio was absolutely not justified. Another annoyance was billing. We were not given an invoice, only a verbal sum was given. We had the strong impression that they were overcharging. Warning to future guests: Be sure to insist on an itemized invoice! It seems like opaque prices are being used here. In addition, they tried to sell us dishes without giving any information about the price. Only after repeated inquiries was the price given, and it was unreasonably high. And as if that wasn't enough, we asked to take an uneaten portion with us. The waiter reluctantly brought us an empty cardboard box, simply placed it on the table and told us to pack the food ourselves - completely unprofessional behavior. Overall, an absolutely disappointing experience. Unfriendly service, hidden costs and lack of transparency – we cannot recommend this restaurant under any circumstances and will definitely not be coming back.

Atmosphere and reception were very good, but the service was very poor. No German spoken and generally no good understanding of gastronomy. Food came very quickly, was nicely prepared but not particularly special.

3-4 stars! To eat: Really tasty, authentic and nicely prepared. The portions were rather small for the price. The fact that there was only one bowl of rice for 4 dishes was very little. When we asked, we got new ones straight away! Unfortunately I cannot say whether we were charged for the additional rice. If not absolutely great! About the service: The owner of the restaurant was very attentive and accommodating, the staff needs night training. Empty plates were cleared away even though others were still eating, and there was always no demand for anything else to drink. The ambience was nicely decorated, modern, elegant with a slight Indian touch. No classic Indian furnishings or anything like that.

The restaurant could have done better if the owner was perhaps more honest. I did the math and even though a bowl of rice that we didn't order was added to us and we didn't even touch it, the owner wanted more than €10 off the original price. In addition, he urges guests to take more when ordering. We still had half of it on the table because we added a little. My conclusion is that unfortunately I will not come again. FYI: you won't do anything, the countless comments about it have existed before and continue to exist. It's a real shame, but you probably want to keep it up with your customers.

The food was outstanding! The lamb is super tender and the Indian white wine was also very good! It was the first but not the last time there. Really highly recommended!!!

Very tasty food, love coming there! Unfortunately we were sitting in the passage and a birthday was being cleared at the same time... it took a long time. But it's always worth going back for food. The vegetarian selection is especially great!

Butter chicken was tasty, but a little too spicy for us. Maybe you could have asked how spicy you wanted the whole thing to be. Music was a bit loud at first, but was turned down a bit when asked. The restaurant itself was nice. Communication was a small drawback: card payment was not possible that day, which was not communicated beforehand. This is unfavorable when the bill is higher, so you had to walk to the nearest bank. However, there was a small discount because a fee was charged for withdrawing money at the nearest bank. All in all: solid

The food is really tasty, the owner is a very rude man, because I know when you have overstepped your boundaries. Usually you should treat your customers with respect. However, you don't have that case here. The service is completely overloaded and things are being included in your bill that you didn't actually order. Transparency has no place here. I wouldn't visit this store again.

I wanted to visit the restaurant with a 50% voucher and asked for a small adjustment. Unfortunately the service was very inflexible and unfriendly. It was immediately rejected without offering an alternative. Unfortunately not good customer service.

Known this place since 2022, and it’s still have the highest quality of indian food, It became our favorite restaurant in Koln.I would recommend the butter chicken, papri chaat and the butter naan.Highly recommended.

Unfortunately the service is totally bad and chaotic. We ordered together and all received our food differently. One person was already finished and then the next person's food came. So there is no trace of eating together. Won't come anymore.

Although the food was good, I can unfortunately only give this restaurant 2 stars for the methods. - They tried several times to persuade us to have a starter plate. I'm in a restaurant, not a bazaar. Recommendations are fine, but the manner in which they are made is not. - Sauces were simply placed on the table in front of us and then tried to charge us for them afterwards. This is a method that simply doesn't work and that's why it gets these 2 stars. I want to eat what I order and not have the bill pushed up through the back door.

It was an unforgettable evening with a very good friend. We enjoyed every moment so much - the food couldn't have been better! Really top class 😍 The nice thing is that in addition to Indian food, there are also other specialties, such as Ashak (Afghan style) or the truffle fries were incredibly good! Heartily recommended. Food was okay but I ate at many better indians places in my life. Service was terrible, it felt like they did not want to be there.

So far we have always eaten really well here, especially the tandoori dishes and the butter chicken are super tasty. Today we ordered the Wagyu steak twice and it was very stringy and absolutely not a good steak… definitely not worth €45. The rest of the dishes were very tasty!

Very tasty dishes and a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. I always like to come here and enjoy the friendly service.

Only thing good was the ambience. The bhindi kurkari, which is supposed to be a speciality was horrible and was smelling of old oil usage. On raising the issue received a very lacklustre response from the owner. Got tap water filled in glass bottles but was charged for a mineral water. Overall taste was bad, would not recommend

Although chaotic, the food was delicious.

The VIP menu and chicken tikka masala were really excellent. Spicy with finely differentiated aromas, spiciness just right. Super tasty paneer pakoras as a starter, very fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The portions are absolutely HUGE and I was so happy that I only ordered the menu once. Not exactly cheap, but absolutely worth the money. There are also dishes for guests who don't like Indian food. The only negative point is the acoustics. It gets very cool when it's full.

Unfortunately I'm a little disappointed. The service seemed very nice at first, but things were "sold" to us without it being clear that they were or how much they cost. In addition, at the end we were charged for things that we didn't even get (we only got raita, we were also charged for mango chutney). Unfortunately, the butter chicken was a bit dry, but my friend's lamb kebab was absolutely dry. He couldn't finish it and I shared my butter chicken with him. The sauce that my friend recommended for the kebab cost €6.5 extra without this being mentioned. All in all, we were very disappointed with the below-average food and the very high price (90€). Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

The food was OK, the service was not: 1. Instead of the ordered drinks, more expensive drinks were served and charged for. 2. Almost 50% more glasses of wine were charged than were ordered and served, probably in the hope that this would not be noticeable in a larger group. 3. Parts of the VIP menu didn't come at all or came very late, after repeated requests. 4. We kept being pressured into ordering food we didn't want to order. Too bad!

We were at Christmas dinner there with approx 50 people, food was okay,but dessert totally destroyed whole impression 😔 it was some fried pastry,very greasy taste,with pastry balls soaked in sugar syrup. Very bad, if you are not into sweet things in your cuisine,you should consider and try to serve fruit platters.

The food itself was okay. However, the service was intrusive and unfriendly. They always wanted to offer us other things like appetizers, coffee or certain drinks and a friendly no was initially not accepted. When the waiter realized that we only wanted a main course and 1-2 drinks, he basically ignored us.

Absolutely crazy! The food and the location were fine. But what is not compatible at all is lying to your customers and ripping them off. A decisive reason for me never to eat there again. First he tells you something about individual dishes on the house as a gift and in the end he turns the bill so that you pay even more than you actually ordered. We don't care about the €10-20 the guy pocketed. But what we don't care about is his dishonest and wrong way of dealing with his customers and lying to them coldly just for a few euros. I will never eat there again and don't recommend it to anyone.

My visit to “Ginti and More” had light and shadow. The restaurant is modern and simple, but lacks the typical flair that you would expect from an Indian restaurant. The atmosphere appears rather neutral and less inviting, but contemporary. The service is attentive, but tables are cleaned and glasses cleared right in front of the guests, which makes the impression a bit restless. What should be highlighted positively, however, is the cleanliness of the restaurant, especially the toilets, which are very well maintained and attractively designed. The meal itself was a highlight of the evening. The dishes, especially the meat dishes, tasted excellent and were very well prepared. However, the prices for some dishes are rather high, which may not be suitable for every guest. Customer requests were not always taken into account when ordering, which was a bit disappointing given the longer waiting times. In summary, “Ginti and More” impresses with delicious food and a clean ambience, but could still improve a bit in terms of atmosphere and individuality. Anyone who appreciates modern Indian cuisine will get their money's worth here.

This restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere, modern, relaxed, and perfect for unwinding. I tried the VIP meal, which offered a selection of starters, a beautifully crafted main course, and an quick small dessert. Every dish was of high quality, pickles and Naan bread were top tier. with flavors that were perfectly balanced and memorable and not too spicy. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste truly sets this place apart. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great Indian food with a dining experience!

First of all I have to say that the food was delicious. But now to the service. The employee tries to sell the VIP menu to every new guest. Even for people who can't eat much. When ordering, you were asked directly which starter you wanted to order. Instead of letting the guest decide for themselves whether they even want one. After drinks had already been ordered, we were asked if we also wanted water. No, otherwise we would have ordered it. The offers on the board were not even pointed out. I also think it's inappropriate to use dirty tablecloths. Both at mine and at a table that was newly set. A new tablecloth arrived, but it was clearly stained. If you don't mind the flair and ambience of this tourist shop, you won't be disappointed, at least in terms of taste. I went there because I know the original Ginti. For me, however, it means “never again”

I didn't give it a five, since I made a reservation through TheFork, they tried to cancel the reservation on the same day after having made it more than 10 days ago, they told us that it was canceled because they did not apply the discount without offering us a new reservation. When we insisted that they reserve the table for us, they did so. So stay tuned if you book for such an important date with The Folk, because here are comments from people who have done the same thing. Otherwise, the food was very good and abundant. That is if they force you to eat the menu without having previously notified us, a menu that is not adapted for vegans.

Be careful if you have a nut allergy!! I specially ordered the “Mango Chicken” dish because there were no nuts listed in the ingredients or in the allergen list. Luckily I noticed it after a few bites and was able to prevent something worse from happening. Unfortunately there was no apology from the employees! I had to wait over an hour and 12 calls for someone to tell me that all sauces contain nuts. That might be important information for ALL dishes :)

Food was okay, but not recommended if you have a sensitive stomach… Waiter quite pushy, you could think he works there on commission.

Terrible experience. Waited 45 mins to have any service. The owner/ manager was rude and aggressive when we asked if you could order drinks. Do not visit us you want to eat within 2 hours. Table and cutlery dirty. Would recommend going anywhere else than here. Especially when for special occasions like NYE

Enjoyed the VIP menu today. A bit overpriced at €49, but ok considering New Year's Eve!

Be careful, very sales-oriented waiters who recommended starters to us that later cost €60 (starter only). I find that outrageous, even if I could have asked for the price (who seriously does that when recommending the hotel). In total, the three of us lost €190. If you can do that, you would definitely get better food and ambience somewhere else. The urbanized design is hip and well-received, but it shouldn't hide the modest selection of real Indian cuisine. Customers could be trusted more these days. Overall: well suited for customers who are willing to pay and are looking for hip pseudo-Indian food.

Unfortunately the butter chicken didn't taste good at all. The meat was tender but the sauce had absolutely nothing to do with butter chicken. The waiter was extremely pushy. Really wanted to sell the menu. When this was refused, they tried to force a starter plate on us. If you are a tourist, move on! The boss and staff all rush you throughout the meal and make you understand that you are not welcome. Being Belgian, me and my wife managed to understand the menu but the waiter didn't give us much time to read it and choose. I ended up taking the "vip menu" because the waiter insisted (fortunately the food was good). The waiters are always looking over their shoulders so that we can eat more quickly, as soon as the last fork is in my mouth, they snatch my plate to serve me the dishes. And when I asked him to bring me the bill, he told me it was in the cash register. Well ok no worries I was planning to finish my drink but the boss “kindly” let me off the table because two customers were waiting behind me. In short, good food but unpleasant boss and staff.

The food and the ambience are the only thing that convinces. Drinks weren't necessarily the best in terms of taste either. The service was only partly okay, the price-performance ratio wasn't right, I expect reasonable service for the prices (for example, we had to pack our own food and we were often ignored). There was obviously a language barrier, it wasn't bad, but we weren't even asked whether the food was tasty or whether everything was okay with us.

I have reserved a table for dinner for myself and my family for Christmas (December 24th). Three days beforehand I received an email informing me that the reservation had been cancelled. When I asked the restaurant, I was told that a large group of around 50 people had reserved. The employee couldn't answer me why existing reservations were canceled for this. He only had space for a reservation at the other location. After I declined, I simply hung up without an apology or goodbye. Service is different.

Amazing Indian food, love this place

The waiter was an imposition - pushy, assertive and provocative in tone. He urged us to order quickly and tried to tell us what and how much to take. We've never experienced anything like this before. The food was okay, but not great, and the noise level in the room was way too high. Prices not cheap. We expected more. A visit we will not repeat.

They also have outside seating for non-winter months with heating - All in all, a must-visit restaurant any day of the year!

Food & ambience 10/10 Service & especially the boss are just unfriendly. Too bad

First of all: The food was very tasty, sufficient and priced at a normal, high level (€22.90 for a chicken curry or similar dishes). Ambience also very nice. BUT: There were two of us and we were put at a mini table at the entrance, even though a sufficient number of normal-sized tables were unoccupied the entire time. At first we sat there all alone and felt forgotten. After 15 minutes we had to get up ourselves and go to the waiter to say that we would like to order. Unfortunately the order was forgotten, so we had to wait about 50 minutes for our food. Mind you, this was only because we went to the waiter to ask. It was very suspicious that according to the card a 0.33l San Pellegrino lemonade was advertised as a can. I got a 0.275ml bottle. When I asked the waiter, they said that only the 275ml would be charged. If this had been noted directly when ordering, it wouldn't have had a strange aftertaste. However, the price for the 0.33l was charged at the checkout. When I pointed this out, I was handed a euro in cash. To be fair, the two stars go to the chefs who conjured up a delicious meal. The rest of the service was not appreciative for the reasons mentioned above. They could have accommodated us by, for example, charging the two drinks on the house or something similar, but in the end they didn't even apologize for the incorrectly billed bottle. As we left, we gave exactly this feedback and hope that it will be taken to heart and future guests will experience more appreciation. PS: Forgetting your food order can happen, but the rest of it is what prompted me to write this review.

Reserved a table for two three weeks ago, was assigned a cat table in the passage, everything else was occupied. In fact, some of them remained unoccupied all evening. The serving plate wasn't clean, a new one didn't come, instead, when the food was served, I made do with what was offered at the neighboring table. Loud, crowded and far too few staff. Food (system kitchen) was OK. We skipped dessert because no waitress showed up. Cash payment expressly requested.

We had dinner with 5 people. The food was tasteful. However much more negatives than positives. The service was really bad. We had to wait for 20 minutes at the desk to receive the bill. The next day the owner contacted me and informed me that the payment was unsuccessful. Without any excuse or explanation. It was way too busy in the restaurant. They should consider to serve not all tables as long as there’s a lack of employees. We had to wait 45 minutes to see the menu for a dessert. Food was good however not enough. We received just one bowl of rice for 5 people. We finished the rice soon and had to pay for another bowl of rice. For the chicken dishes (like chicken tikka masala) they only use 1 kebab skewer, with 5 pieces of chicken. It was a small meal for €23. They reuse bottles for water. The sparkling water was not sparkling anymore.
