Roku - Japanese Dining & Wine in Düsseldorf

We took the menu, including almost all the options offered, and were very satisfied with the quality. The price was quite high; this is challenging.

Unfortunately a disappointment. It was my birthday - as stated on the reservation. And we deliberately chose a la carte to explore the interesting variety on the menu. After two hours and some sushi, sashimi and appetizers we had to call it quits. So before we could even get to any of the main courses. It only seemed to happen upon request, not to mention some sort of birthday gesture. However, it was clearly noticeable that other tables - probably with menus - had a normal service pace. So dozens of sushi walked past us before something stayed with us. The food was quite good, yes, but I would have expected more for my birthday.

I would give more stars for the food. The high prices are well known. Wines are exorbitantly expensive 0.2 euros for open Pinot Gris 19.00 euros, which is clearly excessive But what bothered me the most is the fact that all the employees work at the preparation counter without gloves and reach into all the decorative containers that are available. Every now and then their ears get itchy and then they continue to decorate the plates. The service staff also goes behind the counter and works with them That doesn't work at all Unfortunately, I was sitting right in front of it and was able to watch everything closely

If you want good Japanese food, love sushi and Nagaya is too expensive, you should definitely come to Roku!!! Quality, service and finesse at a very high level without a star chick...yet ...so get there quickly, otherwise it'll be like Yoshi.....unexpectedly quickly * and that's it again with the insider tip in Düsseldorf😉

Light and shadow... We ordered various dishes across the menu and while some of them were tasty and well made, there were unfortunately also a few disappointments. When we asked the boss that we found the dish inedible because, in our opinion, it was spoiled, we were only answered incomprehensibly that it just tasted that way. Unfortunately, this way of brushing off customers and not caring about their opinions is not possible at this level of restaurant. At least an alternative should be offered at this point, or something similar. The service wasn't particularly friendly either, especially since communication was also challenging... that's much better in Düsseldorf compared to the competition. All in all, I unfortunately have to say that considering the demanding prices (over €250 for 2 people), the Roku didn't live up to its demands and we didn't leave the restaurant with a great feeling. Very unfortunate.

Definitely the best Japanese food of this kind I've ever had! Everything was excellently seasoned and, above all, there was something rare like Toro on the menu! What was particularly surprising - at least for me - were the very tasty desserts, which for me are not common in Japanese restaurants! The service was also great - an all round recommendation! Gladly again at any time!

Food was good but obviously restaurant needs more staff - one of our orders was forgotten. Food was served , plates and soya sausage not - we had to ask. Eventually soya sauce was brought but one for 5 persons. We expected more from a Michelin recommended restaurant. It was a bit awkward because we invited friends who came from another country.

Phantastische Speisen und guter Service. Gerne wieder.

Neben einem hervorragenden Menü, war der Service großartig. Alle waren sehr freundlich und haben großartig die jeweiligen Gänge erklärt. Das Omakase ist sehr zum empfehlen.

Das Roku ist eines der besten japanischen Restaurants in Düsseldorf. Das Sushi ist sehr gut. Die Bedienung außerordentlich nett.

Das Essen war recht ordentlich. Es gibt eine riesige Auswahl an kalten Vorspeisen meist fisch und jeweils drei hauptgerichte Fleisch und Fisch. Bedienung und Ambiente sind jedoch unzureichend für ein Restaurant dieser preisklasse. Offensichtlich hat das servicepersonal überhaupt keine Ausbildung genossen und das Ambiente dieses Lokals mit dem billigen Resopal Tischen passt auch nicht so richtig.

We were two people there for dinner and got the table next to the toilet. We reported to the chief that the red schrimp has the strange and strong smell which is similar to being stale. But the chief explained as the schrimp has being marinated. For a 260€ dinner, the service and food quality are not qualified as expected.

Das Menü ist immer wieder ein kulinarisches Highlight !

Große Enttäuschung… Es sollte ein besonderes Geburtstagsessen mit 4 Personen werden. Wir haben a la carte bestellt. Man hatte uns zwar eingangs darauf hingewiesen, dass a la carte etwas länger dauern würde als wenn man ein Menu bestellt und die Gänge möglicherweise etwas asynchron sein wuerden, was uns aber recht war, da wir die einzelnen Speisen miteinander teilen wollten. Aber was dann passierte ist ungeheuerlich und haben wir in der Form noch nie erlebt: Die erste Vorspeise kam erst nach mehr als 1 Stunde !(Edamame…), die weiteren Vorspeisen und Hauptgänge kamen nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen im Schneckentempo. Man muss hier Vorsatz unterstellen, da es sich nicht um aufwendige warme Speisen, sondern eine Mischung aus kalten Speisen handelte. Unerklärlich also was hier so lange dauern soll. Der Nebentisch mit Menu hatte mehr Glück, da war ein gewisser Flow drin. Insgesamt haben wir fast 3 Stunden dort verbracht, aber der Höhepunkt der Enttäuschung war, dass leider auch die Qualität des Essens bei weitem nicht den Preisen angemessen war. Der Bonito schmeckte / roch als hätte er seine beste Zeit schon hinter sich, auch die Sushis und Nagiris waren lauwarm und eher lasch im Geschmack. Das konnte auch der separat bestellte, frische Wasabi nicht mehr richten. Da gibt es in Düsseldorf für weniger Geld deutlich bessere Qualität. Auch war es für einen Samstag Abend nicht sehr voll, im Gegenteil, umso unverständlicher der ganze Ablauf. Das Servicepersonal war zwar freundlich & bemüht aber leider überfordert, es fehlte die Leitung und der Blick dafür, dass hier etwas im Timing gar nicht rund läuft. Das ist bei einer Rechnung von am Schluss 340€ indiskutabel. Zusammengefasst also eine immense Enttäuschung und sicher unser letzter Besuch im Roku. Never ever again!

Hoch angepriesen haben wir uns zu viert aufgemacht, eine kulinarische Erfahrung im Roku zu machen. Sagen wir so: es war ok. Aber: der Service hat uns selten am Tisch besucht. Einer der Servicekräfte war darüber hinaus begrenzt freundlich, die andere Servicekraft sprach grenzwertig gut englisch, deutsch dagegen nicht. Eine ausführlich besprochene Sakebegleitung erreichte nie den Tisch. Sushi und Sashimi waren gut, im Vergleich zum Preis allerdings wenig innovativ. Fazit: Schade!

Essen war super lecker. Habe selten so gutes Sushi gegessen. Auch die Empfehlungen waren auf den Punkt! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Das Essen war wie immer ein Genuss. Wir sind jedesmal aufs Neue Überrascht .

It was our first time at ROKU and we are very satisfied, both with the great service and with the great, delicious specialties of the house. If you're in the mood for Japanese food again, you'll always want to go to ROKU.

A truly exceptional experience - ordering across the menu and following the wine recommendations, this became the best experience of Japanese cuisine. Expensive but definitely worth the price - in my eyes and with my palate. In addition, there is a very competent and attentive service with an interest in the guest's reactions. An all-round successful evening that will definitely be repeated once the piggy bank has recovered.

Very high level of service. They made sure that my water glass stayed full by itself. Food includes rare imported ingredients and the place is lovely in general. Highly recommended.

We had a great evening with the Omakase Menu. The food was of top quality, the service was very friendly and the presentation and composition of the plates were a feast for the eyes.

We had excellent food and drinks at Roku on June 28th at 6pm. The service was very polite and competent, and extremely attentive. We had a delicious Riesling and lots of different types of sushi. Afterwards we had an excellent chocolate cake with ice cream in it. Overall it was a great experience. We will be back! The Roku is a clear recommendation!

Wir haben einen sehr netten Abend im Restaurant Roku verbracht. Das Essen sehr lecker, die verschiedenen Kombinationen toll. Die Weine sehr lecker. Der Chef des Restaurants ist sehr Wein affin! Alle Empfehlungen waren vom Sushi und Wein herausragend! Es werden alle Weine geöffnet, so das man die Vielfalt genießen kann. Danke für den schönen Abend!

Everything was fantastic - we just suggest to have options on the goysa and the miso soup. Bothe variants are very special and therefore it might make sense to offer the regular options of both too.

Essen top aber Service leider nicht. Keiner spricht deutsch. Bestellung musste 2x wiederholt werden und dann war sie immer noch fehlerhaft. Wein kam mit der Vorspeise. Wasabi kostet extra, hatten wir so auch nicht.

Sehr zuvorkommender Service, tolle, authentische japanische Hoch-Küche, entweder à la carte oder als Menü. Die Weine sind durch die Bank zu teuer für die Qualität (aber zumindest gut ausgewählt), aber es gibt ja Kirin-Bier und Sake.

‘Omakaze’ was more like a mixed sushi plate for €60+. No special sauces, like omakaze typically has, the server did not explain which fish where which until I asked and did not know or explain in which order to eat them. Nothing like a true omakaze experience.

Amazing service and food It's just a shame that it isn't affordable for all budgets

This was my first visit, but they have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, including wine and sake. It was a nice restaurant where you could relax and enjoy food and drinks in a calm atmosphere. At an event related to Wine Messe that started last weekend, we received a special menu called SAKE Pairing, where you can enjoy the combination of alcohol and food. Not only were the dishes exquisite, but the tableware and pairing glasses were well thought out, and I really enjoyed the taste as well as the appearance. The staff were very thorough in explaining the dishes, so I was able to thoroughly enjoy each bite, including how the flavors felt. food, performance, service, atmosphere, I was very impressed by all of them. I look forward to hearing from you again.

A fundamentally nice shop. The service was very good. The food was delicious with the exception of the Goyza. What unfortunately wasn't right was the price-to-performance ratio. In my opinion the prices are set too high for what is on offer. There are enough alternatives in Düsseldorf in particular that deliver better in this regard.

There is really no arguing about this: Japanese food at a very good level. The three of us really enjoyed that immensely. This place could be a little more spacious, but that really pales in comparison to the delicious food. The service is okay: we had 5 servers at our table, which is a bit much. But the delicious food is what comes to mind first and I would definitely recommend Roku.

Gute Alternative zu den noch hochpreisigeren und edlen Partnerrestaurants von Roku - vor allem, wenn man mal unkompliziert und auf die Schnelle sehr gut und stilvoll japanisch essen möchte.

Das Essen hat seinen Preis, ja. Aber es ist es absolut wert. Die Qualität ist überragend und der Service ist sehr freundlich. Wenn es mal ein besonderer Abend in einem japanischen Restaurant mit toller Atmosphäre sein soll - dann ist man hier richtig.

Wir hatten einen unvergesslichen Abend im Roku das Wagyu steack und das Tuna steak waren 1a Qualität und die Themen drumherum waren einfach nur klasse. Uns hat über nicht gestört das die Bedienung kein astreines hochdeutsch spricht . Wir können ja auch kein astreines japanisch! Der Service war sehr gut. Zu diesem Japaner werden wir auf jeden fall nochmal gehen, es gibt noch viel zu endecken!!!

Alles perfekt und rund...unbedingt die Weinbegleitung dazu nehmen, dann ist die kulinarische Reise überraschend und rundet die Sache harmonisch ab. Respek , wirklich ein toller Abend.

We were there in the evening and ate the menu. The set-up is of course different than in Nagaya and Yoshi; the quality, presentation and innovation of the dishes - albeit with different accents - were certainly close to the usual Nagaya quality. The service was very nice and the atmosphere was relaxed. Gladly again!

Das Essen war in Ordnung, aber auch nicht mehr. Man gibt sich extrem wenig Mühe bei der Präsentation der Speisen. Bei diesem Preisniveau darf man auch mal einen Gruß aus der Küche erwarten.

Es war phänomenal gutes Essen mit einem hervorragenden Service. Der Schwerpunkt lag bei uns auf dem Sushi, aber auch die Fleischgerichte waren unübertroffen. Der Abschluss waren perfekte Desserts. Fairerweise war es nicht das günstigste Essen, welches wir je gegessen haben, aber tatsächlich in allen anderen Bereichen (Qualität, Ambiente, Service) unter den besten Drei. Wir waren das erste Mal dort und werden definitiv wieder kommen, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und jede Sekunde genossen und sind dafür sehr dankbar.
