Pros - Nice atmosphere. You can sit outside. - Several restrooms for men. - Food came quickly. Taste: 7.5 out of 10. Cons - Credit card payments only accepted for orders over €50. - Prices have gotten more expensive. A dish is about €20 now. - Not good value for money. - No kimchi as a side dish in a Korean restaurant. - Gyoza was small, but crispy. I expected more filling.

I stopped by Koreanisches Restaurant Gusan recently and had a really great experience with the food. I started with the Gunmandu (meat dumplings), and they came out hot, crispy on the outside, and filled with savory, well-seasoned meat. They were served with a really tasty soy sauce that balanced saltiness with a touch of sweetness — it made the dumplings even better. For my main dish, I ordered the Dolsot Yachae Bibimbap. It came in a sizzling hot stone bowl, which kept the food warm the entire meal and gave the rice that perfect crispy texture at the bottom. The vegetables were fresh, the seasoning was spot on, and when I mixed everything together with the sauce, the flavors blended beautifully. Honestly, it’s the best Bibimbap I’ve ever had — and even though I’ve only had it twice in my life, this one set the bar high. The service was okay — not overly attentive, but polite and friendly enough. They got the food out in a reasonable time, and everything was presented well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and it felt like the kind of place you could comfortably eat alone or with friends. Overall, the food here really stood out, especially the Bibimbap, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Korean dishes in the area. I’m already thinking about coming back to try more of the menu.

I try not to write bad reviews, but I will. First of all, I live in Berlin, but I had to go to Dusselt for a short while on business, so this was my first meal after arriving on a 4-hour train. Three things bothered me: 1. The male owner's attitude made me feel like he was too wary of me, like he was talking to me like a tourist? 2. It didn't taste good. It looks like it would have a deep flavor in the picture, but it had no flavor and was bland. This is definitely not food you should eat for this price. 3. But still, I went to the counter to pay with my card because I wanted to tip, but they said that card payments of 50€ or more were allowed. Otherwise, they asked me to pay an additional 1€ in card fees. This was the first time I'd heard that in Germany, so I didn't tip and paid 1€ by card (I think they thought I was a tourist). This was the first restaurant in Germany that asked me to pay a card fee. When I asked my friends who run restaurants in Germany, they were all shocked. (I don't know if it's because I don't think I'll tip or what) Conclusion: Get something better for this money

Sehr nette Gastgeber und schneller Service. Das Essen war ok, die Portionen grosszügig und der Preis dafür fair. Wer noch nie Koreanisch gegessen hat ist sicher begeistert. Wir sind wohl etwas zu verwöhnt, was den Geschmack und die Präsentation angeht. Die Banchan dürften etwas mehr gewürzt sein und vielleicht etwas vielfältiger.

The food was first-class and delicious; I had Gusan chicken. The dish was very light and not too spicy. We were served by very charming, friendly staff. The kitchen is open, making it a bit noisy. Reservations are recommended, even during the week.

I went there during lunch and ordered a rib soup. It came with rice but no side dishes. Since the staff didn’t speak English, the owner came to take my order. There’s no English menu and no mobile signal inside, so it might be a good idea to check online beforehand. I’m not sure if it’s normal that solo meals don’t come with side dishes — the place was quite busy, so there wasn’t much time to ask. The ribs were very tender, the atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly.

The best Korean restaurant in Düsseldorf! Outstanding bibimbap, great appetizers, and a lovely terrace in the summer. All my friends who visit me in Düsseldorf are immediately invited to Gusan (so far, everyone has been thrilled). The owners are super friendly, and most of the customers are regulars. If you're looking for authentic Korean food in Düsseldorf, this is the place!

We happened to be there on Saturday. The food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the meat. Even better was the staff. They were so nice and friendly. We'll definitely be back :))) Highly recommended!

My husband and I always enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately, today was the first time we were truly disappointed. The atmosphere has always been "clean," cramped, and somehow okay. Just practical. The food, well... The small extra side dishes seem to be getting fewer and fewer over the years. Now there are only three small plates. Years ago, there were six... The kimchi pancake, there was hardly any kimchi in it. Charging €16 for something that only consisted of a lot of dough and vegetables, well, vegetables seem to have gotten very expensive. We ordered two appetizers and two main courses, which was too much for me. I wanted my main course, which I only had two bites of, to be packed away. No, they don't. I had to either force myself to eat it or have it thrown away. What a waste...! Well, except for the three small extra side dishes and main courses, the rest had gotten worse. The cook also seemed overwhelmed (my impression). Let's talk about the service: it took a long time between our drinks, two appetizers, and two main courses. The guests next to us had arrived after us and received many of their dishes before us. When you're really hungry, it's unpleasant... I think that was the last time. The value for money just isn't right anymore.

The service is a fraction slow, but this matters not one iota as the food is prepared from fresh in full view, and when it arrives it is absolutely beyond reproach. It gets very busy here so book, and they only take card payments for balances greater than €50.

The small restaurant is friendly and simply decorated. The atmosphere is casual, the menu is small but offers a good selection for vegetarians and meat lovers. I had a portion of kimchi and the gusan chicken. As a small greeting from the kitchen, there are delicious vegetables to nibble on. The kimchi is fresh and not too spicy. The gusan chicken is piquant and very crispy. The slightly sweet soy sauce goes perfectly with it. It comes with rice. Everything is beautifully presented, the chicken is juicy and the accompanying vegetables are cooked to perfection. It is accompanied by delicious, cold Korean beer. The service is very attentive and charming. For two beers, a main course and kimchi, the price is 35 euros. That's perfectly reasonable for such a large portion.

Very beautiful rich food with a lot of flavor. Dont worry about your belly getting filled it will be topped up to the roof. Only downside is you cant take away leftovers. Thats a huge bummer

The bibimbab is served in a hot bowl so it kinda still baked when served and is awesome. You can get it with or without meat and/or egg and it's just really gooood.

This restaurant has similar vibes to restaurants we went to in South Korea, so the experience is quite authentic. Our family of five had a reservation but our table wasn't available when we arrived. However, the waitress brought us warm yuzu tea free of charge and 10 minutes later, we got our table. The owner was very polite and attentive and the waiting time for the food was not long. The opinions about the food were mixed: bibimbab was tasty, the gusan chicken was just ok, the octopus dish was for some just ok but for others tasty and the galbi-tang was tasty ( Tip: add the soy sauce in the broth to elevate the flavour). However, what we all agree on is that the rice portion is way too small; male customers might need to order an extra portion of rice.

2 stars tops. Food was mediocre to not good, no specific taste, could have been prepared from can. Waiters medium freindly, the more it gets late the less they cared about the customers. Overall, we were not satisfied and will not revisit.

Beef bone soup is so delicious. Have a bowl of it on a winter night and mix it with rice. It’s amazing! The stir-fried vegetables and side dishes taste okay. I want to try bibimbap next time. It’s best to make a reservation when it’s crowded!

We discovered the restaurant by chance and were lucky to get a seat. The outside area was already completely occupied and there weren't many free tables left in the visible inside area either. As you walked past, you could smell a delicious smell that made you want more. The menu is manageable, which we like very much, and offers everything that fans of Korean cuisine would expect. Mega authentic. Staff is super friendly and very accommodating. The food and its presentation are fine without blowing us away. Somehow it was missing that certain something and didn't get the great smells. Tends to be on the sweet side. We missed spiciness and umami. But as long as the Western tongue likes it, you've done everything right.

I liked it, fast and friendly service, open kitchen. Minimal environment, not the classic oriental "tacky". Just be careful if you don't like spicy food very much, make sure what you eat: some dishes are quite demanding in this sense!

We had Gusan chicken, Sobulgogi, and Tokbokgi for entrée. I enjoyed the chicken but would have preferred Sobulgogi. Tokbokgi is quite spicy and is an interesting dish, but I wouldn't order it next time. The soju here aren't flavoured so can be a bit strong.

The food was fantastic. The presence of several Korean guests confirms this. The service was totally friendly. The relatively small restaurant has an open kitchen and is nicely and friendly decorated. You feel good. Unfortunately I forgot the photos, but it looked great.

Forgotten side dishes, staff attitude, didn't want to welcome guests. I came to eat a meal and a drink for €20 but the staff acted like I had asked them for food, didn't help when I needed it and didn't bring any side dishes.

Yesterday we were in the restaurant with a larger group (9 people) and had a really great evening. The service was quick and very friendly. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was well filled - for me it's always a sign that you've come to the right place. The food was really tasty (Gusan chicken + rice - €19.80), and the starters were appropriately selected and excellently prepared. A small negative point - and that's really a matter of taste: with the open kitchen concept, it can happen that you smell a bit of food after your visit. This is something you should know beforehand, even though it may not bother many people. Apart from that: a clear recommendation!

The service was very friendly and attentive. Before the dishes were ordered, there was a delicious greeting from the kitchen. I liked the food. Maybe not culinary flights of fancy, more like (Korean?) home cooking (although I have no idea what Korean home cooking really tastes like.) Food is not bad, just very average. If you had Korean food in other more cosmopolitan cities or in Korea itself, you would find the food here pretty average unfortunately. Ventilation was poor, therefore our clothes had the terrible after smell of a Korean BBQ, even though it was not a BBQ restaurant. Heads up, you can't use credit cards unless you have a minimum spend of 50 euros...

Pros: The bibimbap is delicious and the staff is friendly. Disadvantages: There are no free side dishes, and you can only use your visa card if you spend more than 50 euros.

Went there with friends and ordered the Korean chicken and Cheyuk bokkeum. The Cheyuk bokkeum was actually very tasty although a bit oily, but the chicken was unfortunately a bit dry and not very tasty :( Overall, the prices are very expensive even by Düsseldorf standards (€21 for Kimchi Jjigae? 😭)

Sobulgogi and bibimbap were very tasty. A lil bit hectic at the restaurant but overall, it was a really good korean restaurant. Unfortunately they don't have free flow side dishes 😋. It was not enough for 4 people imo.

Certainly one of the best Korean restaurants in town. Tried various dishes here, including Bibimbap with beef, spicy pork belly over rice, Ox tail soup. The veggie and meat all seem quite fresh. The restaurant updates their hours on Google according to their vacation/holiday schedules, which is not always the case with other restaurants. Reservations are always recommended with Gusan, especially for weekend nights. The wait could be over 30 min long if one chose to do walk in on a Friday night. It would be even better if they could provide free cold veggie appetizer dishes.

I ordered kimchi stew and stir-fried pork, and I was very impressed because the kimchi stew tasted almost the same as the pork kimchi stew my mom made. The seasoning of the stir-fried pork was really delicious, and the meat had fat in it, so it was just my style!! I will definitely go here the next time I come to Düsseldorf!! If you are wondering which Korean restaurant to go to, I recommend Gusan!

Have been here many times already! Each time I’m in dusseldorf this place is one of our must visits spot! It’s not one of those fancy eateries, but as long as the taste is great it is fine with us! Galbitang is great!!! Even better than most places in Korea…😅😅😅 Kimsambok is also great, as we usually don't eat Pork back in the Netherlands due to the smell. This place made it perfect! highly recommended!!

Not a kid friendly restaurant, the table is kinda wobbly, the 2 main dishes took quite long to make (1 hour), my dish was quite okay but quite pricey. But my husband's chicken was really really dry, which surprised him because he took the Gusan special dish. It looked good, but it was so incredibly dry.

Discovered by chance, in the immediate vicinity of the Leonardo Hotel on a side street. Everything is prepared lovingly, quickly and very well. Just seeing and smelling it will give you an appetite. The portions are very large, hardly manageable. Everyone who works there is super nice and friendly. It is very busy at lunchtime, and from 2 p.m. you have the chance to get a seat outside

Durante una corta estancia, cenamos allí un par de veces y cada vez el restaurante estaba lleno, lo que siempre es un buen indicador de su calidad. El servicio era rápido y el menú, aunque no demasiado extenso, atendía bien a diferentes gustos, incluido el vegetariano. If you don't have a reservation, be sure to arrive as soon as it opens, otherwise you won't be able to get a seat soon. The beef bone soup and bubble tea pot are both to our liking. I also like this kimchi restaurant. Although the price is on the high side, it is worth a try. I want to come back next time!

The BiBimBap was so so delicious! In a hot stone bowl. This meant the dish stayed hot throughout and the rice was slightly crispy. Simply delicious! Unfortunately, I had to change after visiting the restaurant. I like the open kitchen, but unfortunately the air smells a lot like food ;) But would never stop me from going again. Really tasty!

The food was very tasty. I can highly recommend the glass noodles with vegetables. However, the rice was unnecessary. The waiters were nice, but a bit inattentive. It would be great if they would take a look at the door every now and then to see when new people come in.

I ordered beef rib stew, but I was surprised to see that there was no beef stew and only a little bean sprouts. I expected a spicy and refreshing soup, but it wasn't at all and it was a localized taste (I can't remember, but it was similar to the one from Ottogi). I was surprised that the side dishes were localized so you had to pay separately and didn't even get water. The galbitang didn't have a deep, refreshing broth and was just salty. The hall is small, but there are too many tables, making it difficult to sit, and there are few food menus. I went to this restaurant on purpose after seeing good reviews, but an hour later I was walking around the area with my family and went back, but I was very disappointed.

I'm giving this review in hindsight after speaking to a friend today about similar experiences. We visited the restaurant last October. The food wasn't bad. Unfortunately I have to say that I am very disappointed with the service of this restaurant. We had brought a cake for a birthday and were informed that we were not allowed to put it in the restaurant fridge. When we wanted to eat the cake after the meal and asked the restaurant if they could provide dessert plates, we were asked to pay one euro per person. We were also asked not to cause smoke from the candles if possible. I'm not usually someone who is quick to give negative reviews, but I would still like to share this experience with people who are considering visiting this restaurant. It may be that everyone has different experiences at this restaurant, but unfortunately for me it was a disappointment.

This place reminds me of my friend's Korean grandmother's home cooking. Since I've moved away from them, I've had Korean food many times, but there was always something missing, like it was "restaurantified." This is the first time in 20 years that I had food that reminded me of those good times. This is Korean home cooking at its finest. It really is like having your buddy's oma cook you a meal, and in that sense I think it's one of a kind here in Düsseldorf. To all those are Gusan: thank you for the amazing meal and the trip down memory lane. This is one I will remember. PS. I had the kimchi and pork belly spicy stir fry, and my wife had the japchae. They were both amazing, so amazing that we forgot to take pictures and dug in.

I came here just two weeks after i came back from Korea, because i kept missing their foods so much. The place was super full during the dinner time, luckily i reserved the table beforehand, so make sure to do the same! They don‘t have many options on the menu, which i like it, so i know that they specialize these menus. The service was kinda slow i could say, i‘m not sure maybe i have to try to come at some other time to compare. The Bangchan i didn‘t really enjoy tbh, i expect more things and more flavor, but wasn‘t that bad. I had the spicy ribs soup Galbi Ugeojitang (8,1/10), i got a lot of ribs which is generous, the spice was totally okay for me, i don‘t specify is at spicy, i probably was used to real Korean taste so it was okay for me. But that price and that portion is totally a worth to try. Personal were okay but some of them looks so stressed out, i understand the situation though. Anyway, give it a try!

A real discovery. Super delicious Korean food with some vegan options (e.g. rice cake, bibimbap). Great selection of organic wines. The service is very nice and helpful. You should make a reservation on the weekend as it is very busy.
