Koreanisches Restaurant Gusan in Düsseldorf

Went there with friends and ordered the Korean chicken and Cheyuk bokkeum. The Cheyuk bokkeum was actually very tasty although a bit oily, but the chicken was unfortunately a bit dry and not very tasty :( Overall, the prices are very expensive even by Düsseldorf standards (€21 for Kimchi Jjigae? 😭)

Sobulgogi and bibimbap were very tasty. A lil bit hectic at the restaurant but overall, it was a really good korean restaurant. Unfortunately they don't have free flow side dishes 😋. It was not enough for 4 people imo.

Certainly one of the best Korean restaurants in town. Tried various dishes here, including Bibimbap with beef, spicy pork belly over rice, Ox tail soup. The veggie and meat all seem quite fresh. The restaurant updates their hours on Google according to their vacation/holiday schedules, which is not always the case with other restaurants. Reservations are always recommended with Gusan, especially for weekend nights. The wait could be over 30 min long if one chose to do walk in on a Friday night. It would be even better if they could provide free cold veggie appetizer dishes.

I ordered kimchi stew and stir-fried pork, and I was very impressed because the kimchi stew tasted almost the same as the pork kimchi stew my mom made. The seasoning of the stir-fried pork was really delicious, and the meat had fat in it, so it was just my style!! I will definitely go here the next time I come to Düsseldorf!! If you are wondering which Korean restaurant to go to, I recommend Gusan!

Have been here many times already! Each time I’m in dusseldorf this place is one of our must visits spot! It’s not one of those fancy eateries, but as long as the taste is great it is fine with us! Galbitang is great!!! Even better than most places in Korea…😅😅😅 Kimsambok is also great, as we usually don't eat Pork back in the Netherlands due to the smell. This place made it perfect! highly recommended!!

The service was very friendly and attentive. Before the dishes were ordered, there was a delicious greeting from the kitchen. I liked the food. Maybe not culinary flights of fancy, more like (Korean?) home cooking (although I have no idea what Korean home cooking really tastes like.) Anyway...it was good and I had a nice evening, thank you very much!

Not a kid friendly restaurant, the table is kinda wobbly, the 2 main dishes took quite long to make (1 hour), my dish was quite okay but quite pricey. But my husband's chicken was really really dry, which surprised him because he took the Gusan special dish. It looked good, but it was so incredibly dry.

Discovered by chance, in the immediate vicinity of the Leonardo Hotel on a side street. Everything is prepared lovingly, quickly and very well. Just seeing and smelling it will give you an appetite. The portions are very large, hardly manageable. Everyone who works there is super nice and friendly. It is very busy at lunchtime, and from 2 p.m. you have the chance to get a seat outside

This restaurant with a somewhat unassuming exterior is one of the highlights of Düsseldorf. During a short stay, we dined there a couple of times and every single time the restaurant was full which is always a pretty good indicator of its quality. Service was swift and the menu, although not overly extensive, catered well for different tastes, including vegetarian. Spicy dishes are indicated in red ("Scharf"), but are pleasantly hot and don't obliterate your taste buds. Main courses are preceded by vegetable entrées. The ambiance is rather minimalist but the seats are comfortable, letting you concentrate on the food and conversation. All in all, a great Korean culinary experience at a very affordable price.

Good food, very nice staff and good ambience, but a little more expensive. On busier days you should definitely make a reservation. The fried chicken can only be recommended.

Authentically delicious bibimbap. But the atmosphere is restless because it is too loud and the tables are too close to each other. You can't take the leftovers with you :(

If you don't have a reservation, be sure to arrive as soon as it opens, otherwise you won't be able to get a seat soon. The beef bone soup and bubble tea pot are both to our liking. I also like this kimchi restaurant. Although the price is on the high side, it is worth a try. I want to come back next time!

I ordered stir-fried pork and it was really delicious. I went to another restaurant yesterday and it was so bad that I didn't want to go to a Korean restaurant again, but it was a good thing I came here.

The BiBimBap was so so delicious! In a hot stone bowl. This meant the dish stayed hot throughout and the rice was slightly crispy. Simply delicious! Unfortunately, I had to change after visiting the restaurant. I like the open kitchen, but unfortunately the air smells a lot like food ;) But would never stop me from going again. Really tasty!

The food was very tasty. I can highly recommend the glass noodles with vegetables. However, the rice was unnecessary. The waiters were nice, but a bit inattentive. It would be great if they would take a look at the door every now and then to see when new people come in.

We have always been super satisfied here. The food is so delicious! However, you can't go into the restaurant before 6 p.m. and the staff isn't always that friendly, but that's probably a cultural difference. We will always be happy to come back.😋🍝

I ordered beef rib stew, but I was surprised to see that there was no beef stew and only a little bean sprouts. I expected a spicy and refreshing soup, but it wasn't at all and it was a localized taste (I can't remember, but it was similar to the one from Ottogi). I was surprised that the side dishes were localized so you had to pay separately and didn't even get water. The galbitang didn't have a deep, refreshing broth and was just salty. The hall is small, but there are too many tables, making it difficult to sit, and there are few food menus. I went to this restaurant on purpose after seeing good reviews, but an hour later I was walking around the area with my family and went back, but I was very disappointed.

I'm giving this review in hindsight after speaking to a friend today about similar experiences. We visited the restaurant last October. The food wasn't bad. Unfortunately I have to say that I am very disappointed with the service of this restaurant. We had brought a cake for a birthday and were informed that we were not allowed to put it in the restaurant fridge. When we wanted to eat the cake after the meal and asked the restaurant if they could provide dessert plates, we were asked to pay one euro per person. We were also asked not to cause smoke from the candles if possible. I'm not usually someone who is quick to give negative reviews, but I would still like to share this experience with people who are considering visiting this restaurant. It may be that everyone has different experiences at this restaurant, but unfortunately for me it was a disappointment.

This place reminds me of my friend's Korean grandmother's home cooking. Since I've moved away from them, I've had Korean food many times, but there was always something missing, like it was "restaurantified." This is the first time in 20 years that I had food that reminded me of those good times. This is Korean home cooking at its finest. It really is like having your buddy's oma cook you a meal, and in that sense I think it's one of a kind here in Düsseldorf. To all those are Gusan: thank you for the amazing meal and the trip down memory lane. This is one I will remember. PS. I had the kimchi and pork belly spicy stir fry, and my wife had the japchae. They were both amazing, so amazing that we forgot to take pictures and dug in.

Very good food, would come again

I came here just two weeks after i came back from Korea, because i kept missing their foods so much. The place was super full during the dinner time, luckily i reserved the table beforehand, so make sure to do the same! They don‘t have many options on the menu, which i like it, so i know that they specialize these menus. The service was kinda slow i could say, i‘m not sure maybe i have to try to come at some other time to compare. The Bangchan i didn‘t really enjoy tbh, i expect more things and more flavor, but wasn‘t that bad. I had the spicy ribs soup Galbi Ugeojitang (8,1/10), i got a lot of ribs which is generous, the spice was totally okay for me, i don‘t specify is at spicy, i probably was used to real Korean taste so it was okay for me. But that price and that portion is totally a worth to try. Personal were okay but some of them looks so stressed out, i understand the situation though. Anyway, give it a try!

A real discovery. Super delicious Korean food with some vegan options (e.g. rice cake, bibimbap). Great selection of organic wines. The service is very nice and helpful. You should make a reservation on the weekend as it is very busy.

The staff here is very friendly and lovely. Although it is usually busy and needs an appointment, but a girl still arranged us a seat and we could have our delicious dinner within about 1 hour( totally enough) A girl asked us kindly 好不好吃 The dishes: non-spicy beef soup, pork kimchi, bibimbap are all good. (I have been to Duesseldorf third times, these dishes should be definitely on the lists)

Service was exceptionally poor. We had booked a table for Friday night in advance, only to be told upon arrival that we had just one hour for dining as there were other guests afterward. However, this was NEVER mentioned during our phone reservation, and when confronted, they falsely claimed it was explained. Despite accepting the one-hour limit, we were then informed that most dishes, including appetizers, were off-limits as we couldn't finish them within the time frame. What kind of restaurant can't serve an appetizer in an hour? If there were no available seats, why didn't they inform us during the reservation? Why don’t tell customers the one-hour dining limit in advance? If they accept reservations, why restrict customers in ordering, even for appetizers? I can't comment on the taste as the restaurant didn't give us that opportunity. From the moment we entered, the Korean waitress showed no smile, and there was no apology until we left. I won't recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.

My friend and I made reservations for this restaurant in advance, but as soon as we arrived at the restaurant door we were informed that we had to leave within an hour because another guest had made a reservation. However, this fact was not told over the phone. We felt she was very rude and the place was very crowded so it was difficult to move between people. Since more than half of the menu wasn't provided when we ordered, the Korean waitress thought we couldn't finish our appetizers in an hour, but as soon as she said that, she turned her head and left without an apology or response. I will never go to this restaurant again. This experience left me feeling callous and rude in this restaurant, and I hope to avoid repeating this situation with other guests.

Kimchijjigae for 17,90€ felt overpriced, probably because it was too sour and I didnt really enjoy. if you want to order some more of the side dishes they cost extra. Yuzu tee was also a bit bland and more on the watery side. Quite dissappointed tbh all in all. Wouldn’t come again.

Not baby friendly, we come in with a kinderwagen and want to use the table for 4 because there is space to park the wagen next to that table, but we are not allowed by the waiter because that table can be only used for 4 persons, apparently we are only 3 persons..............so we are driven out.

One of the most delicious Korean food in Germany

It is Korean food but just Korean food which you can have anywhere. During dinner time it was crowded because of exhibition and I and my partner had nightmare with yelling from worker in the restaurant. And they bring bills even we did not ask for it, I feel like we have to leave, so we leave before our food finish. If I come again in this city, I will choose another restaurant to have better experience with food and warm greeting.

Das Gusan ist für alle Feinschmecker unter uns ein Muss! Auch vegane Speisen finden sich auf der Karte. Ich bin immer wieder sehr gerne hier. Authentische koreanische Küche in einem eher unscheinbaren Lokal. Es ist „fast“ ein Geheimtipp! Bekocht wird man vom Wirt und seiner Frau persönlich. Sie sind unfassbar freundlich und die Qualität der Speisen ist seit Jahren einfach nur großartig. Zur Begrüßung gibt es immer einige Appetithäppchen, die große Lust auf mehr machen. Unbedingt mal ausprobieren!

Samstags unbedingt reservieren, Reservierung nur über FB Business account möglich, ans Telefon ging niemand. Parken im Parkhaus, direkt davor ist es nahezu unmöglich einen Parkplatz zu finden. Sehr leckeres essen, Personal freundlich mit Empfehlungen falls man sich so gar nicht entscheiden kann. Wir hatten Vorspeisen und Hauptgang. Die Portionen sind eher groß. Wir kommen gern wieder.

A small but cosy restaurant. Open kitchen, so you can even watch them preparing the food. The food is authentic and tasty.

Zufällig über das Restaurant gestolpert. Essen kam schnell. Große Portionen und sehr lecker. Etwas befremdlich war der Bezahlvorgang: auf die Rechnung haben wir trotz mehrmaliger Nachfrage mehr als 20 Minuten warten müssen.

Essen war hervorragend, und kam sehr schnell obwohl es ziemlich voll war. Der Service war teils gestresst und demnach ein wenig unfreundlich.

Das Essen war leider etwas wenig aromatisch. Ansonsten war alles super.

Sehr schönes Restaurant mit netten Service und Ambiente. Leider hat Kimchi Jjigae über die Jahre den Geschmack verloren. Ich war vor einem Jahr dort; damals hat sie mir viel besser geschmeckt, es fehlt an Geschmack und Umami. Die Preise sind meiner Meinung nach auch etwas teurer, als vergleichbare Koreanische Restaurants. Bibimbap hingegen war sehr lecker, vor allem das Rindfleisch hatte einen sehr schönen BBQ-Geschmack. Mir ist auch aufgefallen, dass die Gerichte, bei denen normalerweise schön saurer Kimchi für den guten Geschmack sorgt, leider ziemlich jungen Kimchi verwenden, welcher nicht den Kick hat. Sehr schade, dieses Restaurant war vor einem Jahr noch mein go-to für kleinere Koreanische Restaurants, wer aber gutes Bibimbap mit gutem Fleisch haben will, ist hier genau richtig.

Das Essen ist super, leider ist das Drumherum verbesserungsfähig. Die Stühle sind ein unzusammenhängendes Sammelsurium und als kleiner Mensch klebt man ggfs. mit dem Kinn auf der Tischkante. ^^ Reservierung ist empfohlen, aber es gibt nur eine Handynummer. Karten-/EC-Zahlung erfordert einen Mindestbetrag, aber so hat mir ein Kollege das Getränk gesponsert, weil er kein Bargeld hatte und für die Zahlung mit Kreditkarte noch 2,50€ brauchte 😂🥸 Fazit: Essen top, Ambiente solala und seltsame Zahlungsregeln

I felt very disappointed and discussed. In my food there was fake eyelashes omg I never saw Sth like this before. I don't recommend this at all. How can this be possible ??!

Als wir im Restaurant ankamen, fragte der Kellner, ob wir drinnen oder draußen sitzen wollten, und wir sagten draußen. Zuerst saßen wir ganz in der Nähe in einer Ecke und auf einem beengten Sitz, dann stellten meine Partnerin und ich fest, dass es sich um den Küchenabzug handelte und die Dämpfe uns direkt ins Gesicht bliesen, so dass wir nicht mehr atmen konnten. Also entschieden wir uns für einen anderen kleinen Tisch, und der Besitzer kam zu uns und teilte uns mit, dass er von jemand anderem gebucht worden war. Wir versuchten dann, an einem anderen Tisch in der Ecke Platz zu nehmen, der sehr klein war und nur zwei Stühle hatte, nur um von einer Kellnerin mit einer aggressiven Haltung darauf hingewiesen zu werden, dass der Tisch nur für drei Gäste geeignet sei! Und forderte uns auf, sofort zu gehen! Aber er war wirklich sehr klein und hatte nur zwei Stühle! Wir fühlten uns dadurch nicht respektiert. Da eine meiner Freundinnen große Erwartungen an das Restaurant hatte, beschlossen wir, dort zu bleiben und unser Essen trotzdem fortzusetzen. Aber offensichtlich hatten wir zu viel erwartet.

Koreanische Küche, mit freundlichem Personal. Die Küche ist offen im Gastraum integriert. Man kann also sehen, was später auf dem Teller zu finden ist.
