Gin Seng Koreanisches Restaurant in Düsseldorf

Wie jeden Monat wenn wir unseren Stammtisch haben sind wir hier vor Ort und wie immer was es lecker und der Service war klasse. Ich hatte diesesmal Na So Yuk und muss sagen genau so wie ich es mag und ich bin froh das ich so eine klasse Auswahl habe und immer was anders zum futtern habe. Dazu habe ich spontan weil ich kein Tofu Fan bin ein Bild von der Miso gemacht ;-)

We were really hungry for bibimbab and found it at Gin Seng, as well as our highly sought-after kimchi pancakes. Served on a hot stone, it tasted excellent, and the appetizers were also truly amazing. Pleasant and fast, attentive service. Highly recommended! We'd love to come back next time we're in Düsseldorf. Gamsahamnida!

We requested a reservation for 8:45 p.m., but at 8:50 p.m., the table for 18(!) people was simply reassigned. We were then put on hold and left after an hour of excuses. The food is generally very tasty there, but making reservations is a disaster. Very unpleasant.

Just had my meal on 31.5 My friend wanted to try Ramen and the waiter said they could make ramen for us although its not in the menu. But what he brought is just instant noodles, so unacceptable. the waiter even could not distinguish coke and coke zero. My friend ordered coke zero but its too sweet. Plus, we ordered Bibimbal (2 portions) but the sauce (the soul of the dish) was not initially served. So we had to eat half of the bowl with a terribly bland taste.

the food is always fresh and warm, you can recognize the quality straight away. very cozy atmosphere and the service is super. quite a friendly staff.

I don't think the person cooking is Korean. It's my first time eating such a tasteless soft tofu stew. When I looked at other tables, they all had a lot of food left. It's a place where many foreigners visit and there's a line at dinner time, so it would be a shame if it became known that this is Korean food...ㅜㅜKoreans, don't go. You'll be disappointed.

We had a reservation and were very happy, but it was suddenly no longer valid. If it's not possible on that day, you shouldn't accept reservations.

Terrible servicio. Nunca encontré algo así. Hemos hecho una reserva para asegurarnos de que no necesitábamos hacer cola en un sábado ocupado. Hemos recibido 2 emails para confirmar la reserva. Una vez que llegamos dijeron que no tomaron reserva para esa noche. Había muchas personas con reservas y nos dijeron que hiciéramos una larga fila y esperáramos. No hubo disculpas ni nada. Actuaron extremadamente groseros. No vayas a este restaurante. El interior se ve terrible. Sin decoración ni ambiente. También olía mal y no se veía muy higiénico. ¡Aléjate de este lugar!

Ordered bulgogi , for sure the beef has been frozen for a long time . Not tasty , the side dishes also taste like not so fresh.

Even though it's not exactly cheap for the portion size, we had one of the better experiences with Korean food in Düsseldorf.

It was our first time eating Korean food and it was very good. The starters tasted delicious and the selection we had was also great. The service was friendly and excellent. We will definitely come back again.

It looks very inconspicuous from the outside, but it is a great restaurant with mixed Korean/Vietnamese cuisine.

Absolutely avoid this place because it has nothing to do with the photos that you see. My guess is that the quality has taken a dump during the years. Dishes were not fresh, over saucing to cover the taste, even Kimchi was really dry and bad. Ambience was acceptable but dark.

This is my favorite restaurant every time I visit Düsseldorf and miss Korean food. The favorite dish here is the tripe hotpot, which boasts a depth of flavor that is difficult to find in other parts of Germany. The six side dishes that come as standard are each neat and delicious, putting you in a good mood even before the meal begins. Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong are also better than expected.

Authentic Korean food. Super tasty and very nice owner and service. Recommend the 8 from the lunch menu. Spicy rice with squid. Bulgogi is of course also a hit.

Everything tastes delicious in Gin Seng. Especially the dishes in the hot stone pot. A little expensive but worth it.

We were looking forward to the visit, but were unfortunately disappointed. The hygiene left a lot to be desired: there was clearly visible dirt on the table, and there was dried sour cream in the cracks on the burner. At first we ignored it, but it became unpleasant when we ate. The meat was very tough and the taste was not convincing. What was particularly annoying was the large number of fruit flies that even sat on the food. After a few bites we lost our appetite. In the end we paid €70 and left without anyone asking us if everything was ok. Otherwise we would have addressed the issues directly. Unfortunately no recommendation.

We actually came here by chance and treated ourselves to something really tasty: a traditional beef dish and a delicious duck with vegetables. The dishes were super fresh and very tasty, the service was very friendly and attentive, and the glances at the other guests' dishes only showed us beautifully presented, appetizing delicacies that also seemed to be tasty. We will be very happy to come back when we are in the area. It's worth it.

For soft tofu, here is the answer.

Great experience. We entered this restaurant by chance because there was an empty seat. We are delighted with the fried chicken. You have to try it. Everything you see in the picture cost 35 euros.

Today we ordered two portions of O-Bento to take away from Gin Seng (€25). The food was handed to us in a paper bag. After about 10 minutes, on the way home, the paper bag tore and the food fell onto the street. As it turned out, the bowls weren't sealed properly, so the sauce spilled out and the paper carrier bag was soggy. When I got home, I called Gin Seng and described the incident. On the phone the gentleman said that he was sorry, but when we asked about compensation he said that unfortunately this was not possible and that we had received the food in an undamaged condition. Our objection that the sauce shouldn't have run out was ignored. We are very disappointed and will definitely not visit the restaurant again.

We were very disappointed with the service as the waiter repeatedly ignored us throughout the entire visit and we had to wait 20 minutes for the bill. The food was good but unfortunately we wouldn't come back due to the poor service.

We were probably unlucky. The kimchi pancakes had too much flour. The gimbap had no meat and the jaepchae had meat, but not really well done. Actually, I don't like to complain, gastronomy is a tough business. Nevertheless, next time I will go one door further.

Despite reservations, 8 other couples waited at the entrance for 45 minutes before being seated. Absolutely uncool to treat Friday evenings and people's time like that. When asked about it, I was ignored, there wasn't even a sorry.

Insanely delicious food. But much more important: incredibly nice service and perfect advice for gluten intolerance. All the other shops in the corner turn you away. Here dishes are modified until it suits you. A person who really knows his card and knows what goes where. Thanks!

Food was amazingly delicious, we got free apetitizers. However, staf were running around so it took time to take the order.

Food was delocious but their banchan are only on small portions and potato was overcooked. Cattle Knee soup was delicious and with generous portions or meat/ tendons. It was also seved in stone bowl which maintained the soup hot althrough our meal. Pork kimchi is also delicious, a little bit of oily but its ok. Spicy but can be tolerated, good for the winter.

The cuisine at this restaurant is simply outstanding. Every dish impresses with its excellent taste and quality, which always remains at a consistently high level. It is precisely this reliability that keeps us coming back here again and again. The service also leaves nothing to be desired: the staff is not only friendly, but also quick and attentive. You feel completely welcome and well looked after. A place where you can experience culinary delights in a relaxed atmosphere - absolutely recommended!

Very good Korean food and a friendly waiter. The menu for 2 people is a great cross-section of Korean classics: beef soup, kimchi pencake, BBQ...

Unfortunately the visit was disappointing. In my opinion, Korean cuisine is one of the best. Unfortunately the food was the worst I've ever had. I always thought bad Korean food didn't exist :D. No comparison to the food in Korea or other restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting. The bibimbap is completely tasteless. Chicken was good, but €14.50 for this small portion is really crazy. Despite a reservation, we waited half an hour until we got a table. Another half hour passed before we were served and the food came. The atmosphere seemed dingy to me. The dirty dishes were piled up on the wall next to the bar. Service seemed overwhelmed because everyone was doing everything. What was also exciting was the fact that there was no proof. After we did the math, we were charged €4 too much. Of course we couldn't understand that anymore, see above :) We came here because of the good Google reviews. Kind of a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, like many things on Immermannstrasse: overhyped.

The dishes we ordered, including Jokbal, Samgyetang, Jjajangmyeon, Ogingoe Dupbap and Japchae were all disappointing. Food does not taste authentic. The service was also unsatisfactory. The staffs did not speak Korean. Overall, it was a bad experience, and I would not return.

I love meat such as pork belly, there is no place like this in Dussel. The soup tastes strangely like the one I had in Korea. I heard that the owner worked at a Korean restaurant for a long time and became independent. Although all the employees are foreigners, it feels like a strangely Korean alley restaurant. All menus are medium quality. My favorite was the pork belly and soft tofu stew.

As a tourist, my experience was bad, they have a great menu in German and only 4 dishes translated into English, the service was good but in the end they rushed us to eat and took away our plates so that someone else could sit down, we still had the drinks. The food is nothing special.

Came in and waited 10 minutes. Then we waited again until we got a table. Waited half an hour for the card, then asked for one myself. Ordered food and drinks. Drinks came quickly, food took an hour. Then had free drinks. Black hair in my food. Tried to make eye contact with the waiter, but they had blinders on and looked away. Walked to the bar myself, explained. Plate was taken but nothing was said. Afterwards we received new food quite quickly. Big portion, not bad. Wanted to take the rest with me, asked for a doggy bag. Received a Styrofoam container and immediately the ATM machine. It was cold there, the door was always opened. 0 atmosphere. 0 customer friendliness. All in all, preferably 0 stars.

We are still waiting for 2 friends due to the train delay. But the waiters weren't happy with it and showed bad attitudes.

On a réservé sur internet, arrivé sur place ils nous disent qu'ils ont "égaré" notre réservation (bien sûr...) et on a dû attendre plus de 30min dehors. Ils se sont trompé plusieurs fois dans les plus servis (ils ont complètement foiré lors de la prise de commande) et nous prennent de haut quand on a demandé un geste commercial. Et la cerise sur le gâteau lors de l'addition il se sont trompé de plus de 100€ (à leur faveur bien entendu), heureusement qu'on a vérifié et réclamé ! À fuir, très mauvaise expérience !

The restaurant didn’t quite meet my expectations. To compare with other Korean spots, we usually order the same dishes: Mandu, Fried Chicken, and Bulgogi. Unfortunately, the Mandu didn’t seem homemade—the dumplings were open, much like frozen ones you’d cook at home. The fried chicken was alright but lacked flavor, and the sauce tasted artificial and lacked depth. On the positive side, the Bulgogi was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere felt like a typical cheap Asian restaurant—nothing special and rather dull.

I was pretty excited to eat Yuk Hoe (Korean Tartar) since it's one of my favorite Korean dishes. I lived for a year in Korea and I'm pretty used to how it should taste. The Yuk Hoe came drenched in sugar, like a dessert. It was sweeter than the Makgeolli. There was so much sugar that the sugar grains couldn't dissolve in the sauce and were cracking under my teeth. This is not how Yukhoe should taste at all. It was completely uneadible. The waiter was not Korean and had no clue how it should taste, but still tried to justify it, saying that Japanese like it that way. The Japanese group next to us confirmed that in Japan Yukhoe is not sweet like that either, and the waiter looked surprised. After not eating it, I was still charged the 17€ for it.

I've been to Ginseng a lot and no matter if it's a quick lunch or a longer dinner with bbq, it's always delicous with amazing service!

Pretty average food, the soups a little too greasy and some dishes a little tasteless, although the service was fast and friendly. It gets one star in total because we have seen mice running inside the dining room while we were dining, which makes us think about the healthiness of the place...

My heart is bleeding 😕💔 I was promised starters and there were big main course prices without them being visible on the menu. Sorry but €17 per Tobukki is really bottomless. Then it came to payment, the bill was rounded up without consent. What's that supposed to mean?! WE WILL NOT COME BACK!

I am leaving a review after my fourth visit. My favorite menu item is tripe hotpot! It was a taste that soothed the joys and sorrows of living in a foreign country 🥹 The food was delicious and the owner was very kind. Jjajangmyeon, sweet and sour pork, and dogani soup were all delicious, and the portion of dogani soup was plentiful. In the cold winter, I packed dogani stew and ate it for two hearty meals at home.

There were four of us there and we were warmly welcomed and served. The food didn't take long to be brought out either. Furnishings and toilets are all neat. The tables have a stove inside for BBQ or hotpot. It wasn't that busy when we were there (around lunchtime) and there were still plenty of places. I can recommend it👍

Great food. And the only reason there's no line in front of the door is because it's not hip like the other shops nearby. But at least as good!

We didn't make a reservation but still got a table straight away. I thought it was nice that you got small side dishes with the meal. There is a large selection of food, with vegetarian dishes at the back of the menu.

Very very tasty food :) The dishes taste very traditional Korean and there is a wide variety of dishes. The staff is also very friendly, which I also liked!

Despite having a reservation, the staff insisted there was none. After a long discussion we finally got a table. The food was mediocre and the portions were tiny. The prices are excessive. The service was slow and overwhelmed, we had to wait forever for our order to be taken. Overall a very disappointing visit. Not recommendable.

The restaurant says it supports VISA, but when I tried to pay with my card, they told me I need to pay by cash. I insisted paying by card, but their pos machine just did not work, and they told me it is my card's problem. Luckily, I brought some cash and was able to pay the meal. But then I went to another shop, my card worked just fine. Quite disappointed.

Whenever I'm in Düsseldorf, Gin Seng is a must. The food is simply delicious and spicy.

I would say average. Got the ziaziangmyeong noodles, portion was good and filling but there was a flavour missing. The banchan were all really delicious. Atmosphere was like an Imbiss.

1 star for the bartender who was friendly, everything else and the Korean BBQ was a failure, many dishes and side dishes were simply covered over so that they no longer have to be offered and the taste was only spicy.

We are there regularly, with a journey of around 100 km. Dishes from the hot stone pot are great at moderate prices (5 stars). Update 2023: Inflation has an impact everywhere, of course. But increasing prices and reducing portions at the same time (soup/spring rolls are no longer available at lunch) is not very encouraging. Update 2024: More and more expensive and less and less. The photos of the ramen soup on the menu look great, but the soup is the economical version. A pity.

The interior of the restaurant is old. The owner doesn't speak Korean very well, but if you order in English, he answers in Korean. Strangely enough, they were selling Chamisul with a Korean label. I ordered 3 servings of pork belly, but it seemed like there were 5 servings. The side dishes were very similar to Korean ones. I think the person in the kitchen is Korean. Perhaps because Dolsot Bibimbap is so famous, many locals eat it too. Instead of pork belly, I had stone pot bibimbap and soft tofu stew. Those who like seafood soft tofu will not like it. This is pork soft tofu stew. I drank 3 bottles of soju and 4 bottles of beer and the total cost was 145 euros.

The service was relatively good, but the frame was very VERY spicy, you couldn't eat it at all.

For me the first address. Price-performance and service are great. Small but nice.

The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't wow either. Rather in the middle range, there are - in my opinion - better Korean restaurants. :) The atmosphere didn't blow me away either, it was a bit lackluster. Service, on the other hand, was good. But I don't think I would eat there again.

Takeaway order. The food took a very long time to arrive and when it did some of it was cold and some lukewarm. Not very authentic, it did not taste like Korean food at all. Chicken was dry and tasted like it had been re heated (though only lukewarm when it arrived). Can't imagine that I will order from there again.

We came here because all other Japanese restaurants were booked out or had long lines. We normally also like Korean food but we were rather disappointed here. We had a bibimbap with dinner set (incl. a soup, 3 sides and few pieces of kimchi pancake) and Jokbal. The sides were made very loveless and tasteless and cold. The soup was a simple bouillon with lots of chopped veggies (didn't taste great) and the kimchi pancake was too oily. The dolsot bibimbap was lacking taste too and was also too oily. We Jokbal was okay. I barely finished my bibimbap and we had to pack the Jokbal but we barely touched any of the sides and the soup. Definitely would not recommend ordering the dinner set. Including drinks we paid about 50€+ Their toilet was also not very clean and walls and floor are all sticky. Service was also not great. We didn't get our cutlery until we asked for it after our food all arrived. We would not come back here 😔

The restaurant was very full, so we recommend making a reservation for the evening, even during the week, it was very clean. The staff was very friendly. A sufficient selection of dishes and the food was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit and the price/performance ratio is perfectly fine.
