That was a really great evening at Robert's Bistro. Great atmosphere, excellent food, and friendly people. Reservations aren't possible; we waited about 15 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth it. We'll gladly come back.

Excellent food, attentive and prompt service, and a vibrant atmosphere with great acoustics. All in all, a fantastic place with a welcoming feel and delicious food. It was my first time, but definitely not my last.

I went there for the first time today, accompanied by a friend who's been there many times before. We sat outside – a small, simple wooden table, but that made it quite charming. Frank served us; he was polite, amusing, and just a real character. The quality of the food we ordered was excellent. I had the lobster bisque and spare ribs (I've never had such tender ribs anywhere else). This restaurant is highly recommended. However, the owner doesn't seem to value feedback. There was no response to an email sent directly to the restaurant.

Very good food, varied, and reasonably priced. The ambiance is both cozy and chic, and the service is friendly, though it could be improved at times. It's nice that there are no reservations required, so everyone has an equal chance of getting a table 😁

We were at Robert's for the first time after years of being loyal to Robert's Bistro. We both had the fish soup and were delighted to discover it was the same. Not exactly cheap, but considering what's on offer, it's a good-value fish soup (a large portion for €28.50) that fills you up. The seating is just as tight as in the old bistro. You have to like that and not be afraid of physical contact. We like it and would gladly come back.

Very busy, service struggled at times to keep up with the rush, but the food was so delicious that we keep coming back. Thanks to the kitchen.

Unfortunately, the enjoyment of the good food is diminished by the rude behavior of the service, which seems to date back to a time when the motto was "only cups outside." I don't want to do anyone an injustice – it's primarily a specific male force that has long given guests the unpleasant feeling of a service desert, leading to a downgrade. The ladies are very friendly. Perhaps some additional training would help him? The guests would be pleased, and I would also like to increase the points so that next time I don't have to get annoyed and can instead enjoy the food. Addendum 03.25: The service has noticeably improved. Reservation options would still be welcome. Nevertheless, the points should be upgraded.

The food was good, but the service was unfortunately patchy. You get the feeling that the ladies are trying hard, while the men are less so. It's also a shame that reservations are still not available, and you have to wait outside before a waiter has the grace to let you in.

Although it has a unique flavor, bouillabaisse is incredibly delicious with its generous amount of seafood stock. You can also change the flavor by adding plenty of cheese and alioli. The white fish used is monkfish or cod, and it is likely to be cod in winter.

I don't understand why anyone would want to eat at a restaurant like this—it's crowded, noisy, the food is terrible, and the service is awful. We were greeted by a tall, thin waitress. When I asked her to recommend a dish, she said she didn't know it and had never tried it. Since we hesitated, she ignored us and walked away. Later, when I took my order, she ignored me as well. I waved my hand, and she angrily said it was rude. When she was clearing the table next to me, she even dropped her knife in my lap. And worst of all, I told her when I ordered that I didn't want alcohol or raw food because I was pregnant. The scallops were burnt, so I asked if they had been overcooked. She immediately got angry and said, "Your husband told me to cook them a little more." I thought, "Fine," and said, "Okay." But she persisted and confronted my husband. He was in the restroom, so I complained to him when he came back. When he sat down, she came back and said it wasn't her fault. Could they please hire some professional servers? What could have been a wonderful meal turned into something annoying. I ordered two appetizers and two main courses, and except for the mushroom and coleslaw, which was okay, everything else was very salty. The onion soup wasn't authentic at all, and the scallops were mushy. It was inedible. I will never return.

You're seated. Nice. Then you wait for minutes for a waiter, only to be told that it's a restaurant and you should please leave. They could have said that sooner. A complete waste of time.

The service is terrible, they discriminate against Chinese people. The three of us went in and were asked to wait at the door, while the other locals went in and were told to sit wherever they wanted. I stayed there for 5 days and this was the first place that asked for a tip (without service), and they turned their backs on me if I didn't give it.

I came here on a recommendation and, unfortunately, I have to say I'm only moderately impressed. My first impression was disappointing, as the decor and ambiance didn't match my idea of ​​a trendy French restaurant. The service was quite friendly, but everything took a long time. This was probably because, given the nice weather, all the outdoor seating was taken, and the few occupied tables inside were served less attentively. The menu read very well, but my Iberico Careé was unfortunately quite dry. Thanks to the generous amount of sauce, it was still quite edible. The value for money wasn't good for me, but I'll definitely give the restaurant another chance. The other dishes I was served looked very good, and I like the selection.

The queue in front of the gate is horrible. You have to be that submissive. And the staff are all pretty incompetent. The food is also terrible. There's a huge hair in the salad. Unpeeled potatoes! Everything is just terrible. You don't need to go there anymore.

We love going to Hülsmann's in Oberkassel and often do, and we really appreciate the restaurant. Now we wanted to try Roberts, too, as we thought this restaurant was still run by the Hülsmann family. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case, as Robert (the restaurant's namesake) has since passed away. So we weren't surprised by what we considered the dismal service conditions there. We weren't served at all at first. Then a waiter finally came and brought us a menu and, after a while, took our order. Unfortunately, after what felt like a long wait, it turned out he had forgotten our order and came back frantically to ask for it again. Unfortunately, it seemed like he only remembered half of it, as we had to remind ourselves several times of the order and the correct order (starter and main course). When we asked to speak to the manager because we wanted to complain about the service, we were initially told that he didn't have time. Well, after some time, he finally came, but it seemed to us that he wasn't at all interested in our complaints and criticisms, saying that whatever the waiter was doing was fine. We were very surprised by this. We were also surprised by the organization in the restaurant: instead of each waiter serving a "station," each waiter randomly serves a table, sometimes here, sometimes there, and everyone runs around like a madman. If you then ask another waiter to inform a colleague that you have another request, the only response you get is "I'm not interested." Wow, you definitely don't need to spend the evening there and should go to Hülsmann instead, we thought. However, for the sake of completeness, let's also say that the kitchen here does a great job, and the food tastes truly excellent. But that's all for nothing when the service is so poor.

A very stylish brasserie in Düsseldorf's old town. We had bouillabaisse, seafood pasta, and a steak with marrow bone – all very well prepared and of a high standard. The steak was particularly outstanding: perfectly cooked and richly flavored. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a French bistro, and the service was friendly and attentive. In nice weather, the terrace is a real highlight. A place that is highly recommended – not only to tourists, but also to connoisseurs from the region.

An outstanding guest experience with charismatic sensory guidance

Beautiful rustic venue near the river. Staff were friendly, food was tasty. The portions might be a bit small by American standards but for me it was Perfect. The lobster soup in a tiny cup was very tasty, so was the octopus salad and chicken breast. Will visit again!

Great menu and a relaxed atmosphere. Seafood was superb, which is not so easy to find in Düsseldorf. Beautiful and vibrant spot directly at the Rhein. Lots of classic dishes with a twist. Bouillabaisse soup is to die for…very rich! The veal cheeks were succulent served in a rich port sauce. My friend had salmon and risotto and she also really enjoyed it. The wines were also great! Good choices. There is usually a queue at the entrance but don’t be discouraged…it moves fast.

Very tasty cafe. Lots of people, but no one bothers. The food is amazing. The portions are good, we ate our fill. The staff serves quickly. The prices are very reasonable.

It's difficult to rate. The fish tasted very good at first. But when the urge to vomit set in that evening and the next day was a lost day with stomach aches for both of us, something wasn't quite right with the food. The atmosphere is great. The service was also very polite and friendly. However, we reordered drinks, which didn't arrive until we were ready to pay. The wait time wasn't right. We were told we shouldn't have ordered from a different server, as they couldn't accommodate our table... They should have communicated. So, we have mixed feelings, and we don't know whether we should try again.

Robert is a permanent fixture in Düsseldorf. Excellent quality products. Good wines. Very friendly service.

It was very warm in the restaurant; the starter was delicious. It was tuna tataki, but the main course of beef entrecôte and Thai salad was unfortunately a bit too salty due to the teriyaki sauce.

Overrated. Food is pretty good, a tad on the salty side. Little wait on food as there is always a crowd. However, we got a rather arrogant waitress who wasn’t much help when asked for recommendation and then have the audacity to ask for tip. Not sure if it is due to the fact that we are tourists or our skin colour or not. People need to realise tip is discretionary and reflect on their own attitude.

The only real downside is that word of the excellent quality seems to have gotten around, and you often have to wait for a free table. But that's actually what speaks for ROBERT. The quality of the food is outstanding, and so is the location directly on the Rhine. However, the seating is relatively close together. Highly recommended!👍

Upon entering, it looks like a small restaurant, but the impression is deceptive once you're inside. Outside, facing the Rhine promenade, there's a small terrace. I don't know exactly when it opens. Unfortunately, there's no way to reserve a table, but we've always been lucky and found a spot. Robert has a fantastic menu; there's definitely something for every taste. We've tried several dishes already; the food is excellent. The wine selection is decent, and there's also something for beer drinkers. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. We'd love to go back.

We recently went to Robert with a friend, we just wanted to grab something to eat and both ordered currywurst with fries. The sausage was okay, but the fries were completely inedible for both of us - fishy taste, just disgusting. We told the waiter, the fries were cleared away, but nothing came, no replacement, no apology. In the end we had to pay the full price and the waiter was even rude because we didn't leave a tip. Unfortunately, a completely disappointing experience - absolutely not recommended!

Simply delicious! It's a mystery to me why a label like "French cuisine" has to be attached to this diverse culinary offering. There are certainly some dishes that can also be found in France, but there are also German, Belgian, Italian or Spanish influences. What they all have in common are excellent quality components, well prepared, tasty and reasonably priced. The service is quick and friendly.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Unfortunately the service was a bitter disappointment. I had the impression that the waiter treated me with noticeable prejudice, which negatively affected the entire experience. Because of this, I would not visit this restaurant again and unfortunately I cannot recommend it to people with an international or non-European background. It's a shame, because the culinary potential is definitely there. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I was particularly impressed by the changing menu, which always offers new taste experiences. Every dish is perfectly flavored and you can immediately notice the quality of the ingredients. The wine selection is excellent and complements the food perfectly. The location right on the Rhine is also a big plus - sitting on the terrace when the weather is nice and enjoying your meal with a view of the water is simply wonderful. Conclusion: ROBERT. is a real gem in Düsseldorf and highly recommended for anyone who appreciates excellent food in a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

I was in a Robert for the first time in a long time. It was absolutely fantastic. As I have always come to expect from Robert in the harbor, the service was as always quick and very friendly. It's always a pleasure and a pleasure to go there.

We were here with a group. Our food was really tasty, but given the portion size, only children would probably be full. All portions were rather manageable, although balanced. Service was good, we were all served appropriately. The ambience doesn't win a flower pot. Maybe we'll come back.

Great selection of delicious, mainly French specialties. You can eat the menu up and down, and enthusiasm spreads every time. The raspberries gratinated for dessert are always worth a sin and should not be shared. Also worth mentioning is the great selection of wines. A visit to Robert is always a pleasure!

Chères lectrices, chers lecteurs, J’apprends que cette jolie brasserie à Düsseldorf est assez réputée pour ses bons petits plats. Allons voir ! Je tente de faire une réservation. On me dit que l’établissement ne prend pas de réservations. Si vous voulez manger la bas, il faut se pointer et faire la queue dehors. Le temps d’attente varie en fonction de l’affluence….nous faisons donc la queue et nous parvenons à avoir une table. Les deux coupes de champagne commandées arrivent sans bulles. Nous demandons à la serveuse depuis quand la bouteille était ouverte ? Heureusement, les verres sont remplacés dans la foulée. La carte : de bons plats d’inspiration française entre autre, à l’image du magnifique bœuf bourguignon par exemple. Le choix est assez large allant des fruits de mer, en passant par des choix de poissons et de viande. Dans l’ensemble tout est fait pour que tout le monde puisse y trouver son bonheur. C’est un bon point. Si les prix sont corrects et les plats globalement bons, nous sommes repartis déçus par le service. Si les fruits de mer étaient bons, nous sommes restés plus sceptiques pour nos plats principaux tel que le carré de cochon ibérique au cumin (tuant complètement le goût de ce morceau noble et savoureux). Attention aux délires culinaires. À force de vouloir trop innover les clients risquent de s’y perdre. Quant à la carte des vins,’nous la trouvons trop courte. Dommage dans l’ensemble. Peut mieux faire.

Quite tasty but very crowded but good service not that cheap

It's always worth queuing. From the awesome lobster soup to the landaise salad to the mussel pot, crispy duck leg, aligot or just fish and chips: IT'S ALL INCREDIBLY GOOD! My husband and I enjoy going there often and wholeheartedly recommend this Düsseldorf pearl.

Very very good food. If you want, you could call it French cuisine with slight German influences. Price-performance is absolutely mega. The service is very professional and very quick, as well as courteous. The only negative thing about the restaurant is that it is almost notoriously busy. Getting a place (especially in the evenings and/or Friday to Sunday) usually involves waiting times. Unfortunately you cannot reserve. If you like, you could also say the atmosphere takes some getting used to because the restaurant is always really well filled and has a bit more of a bistro flair. Accordingly, you often sit close together, it is quite loud, which means conversations can be difficult and the chairs/tables are rather small and simple. However, the food actually makes up for it all. In addition, it is much more pleasant and easier to sit outside in the summer.

Rack of lamb and lobster bisque were to die for. A certain level of noise and hectic pace have been part of Robert Hülsmann's life for decades, as have tables and chairs placed close together, with possible contact with the tables next to them, and this continues unchanged even after his death. If you don't like that, you should eat somewhere else. Everyone else will be thrilled.

I was actually looking for a typical French restaurant for myself and my wife, which Restaurant Robert actually isn't. Neither the chef nor the waiters are French, unfortunately. You have to wait in line for a long time to get a free table because the restaurant is very busy. The tables and chairs (outside) are cheaply uncomfortable. When you finally get a table, you have to expect to sit next to strangers unless you come with at least four people. I can understand that this restaurant is busy because the food there tastes excellent.
