A culinary delight. Very nice hosts. It's worth taking a look at the toilets (look at them all 😉) Be sure to reserve in advance. We'd love to come back. 😋 Our soup of the day was incredibly good. 😋

Staff stressed. Price performance wasn't quite right. Sorry, but it was all a bit careless.

Very good food, but unfortunately a chaotic service. Unfortunately, the service doesn't do justice to the price level either. The location is excellent and we can only hope that the service and price range approach the expected level then nothing stands in the way of 5 stars. Update 10/2024: After avoiding the curd for a long time, I wanted to convince myself of its new qualities after the change of ownership. And I wasn't disappointed. The food is very good, the service was excellent. It's just not necessarily suitable for those on a very tight budget. But if you want to treat yourself to something good in a nice atmosphere, you will find it here. I will come again.

Very nice restaurant. The menu is small but the food is very tasty. The entrance to the mine was very interesting. The tour was professionally done by a former miner. There is no hard work being done on the outside area. We particularly liked the toilet area. Very originally designed. Unfortunately only those for men 😉. The trip to Schortemühle is highly recommended.

We had reserved for 6 p.m. and were already there when the appointment was canceled by phone. We were put off until 7 p.m. because a table only became available. We were so disappointed that we then looked for another restaurant .

Very tasty food, original toilets and exciting surroundings with the old mining industry

The food, the ambience was great! The only criticism I would have would be that the lettuce was cut way too big and the tomatoes were tasteless. No variety of salads, just iceberg. The salad seemed bland at first. Otherwise everything is great!

The service was OK, tables weren't clean, there was no cutlery and not even a napkin for the bruschetta. We have been here many times, but unfortunately disappointed today.

We always enjoy coming here on our vacation. The food is always okay, today we were once again particularly pleasantly surprised with the delicious Italian starter Bruschetta. By the way, the themed toilets are recommended. Just drive in and be amazed (see photos).

Very nice restaurant with a great menu.

It was very nice, the food was nicely prepared and tasted good too. Service (the young man with glasses) was very attentive and courteous, great for unskilled people. All in all very nice. Much better than its predecessor! Good luck to the new owner. The only thing to note...a bit too expensive. Nothing for monthly visits. There are restaurants in the area where the steak of four is €7 cheaper for good taste and a large portion. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Stylish atmosphere and great pizza

The landscape is probably the highlight,...pure nature, with the right concept you can do a lot here. I wish the owner good luck and success, ideas are the icing on the cake.

Extremely nice and attentive service. There was all the sauce on the plate and some was brought straight away with the comment "In Thuringia you need Ditsche on your plate". 😂 🤗 Food was very tasty. And all in a wonderful landscape. What more could you want!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤗🤗

Great ambience and overall a well-kept and clean impression. The menu also offers a good selection for those on a smaller budget - and what we ordered (pizza and lasagna) tasted delicious. A restaurant that can be recommended.

Map very narrow. It used to be better

The food was good but the portions didn't do justice to the price.

We made reservations on a Sunday and placed our food order around 1:45 p.m. After repeated inquiries, including from other tables, we received our food at around 3:15 p.m. I enjoyed a pizza and dumplings with sauce. The time between ordering and receiving the food was unreasonable. The restaurant wasn't even half full. The reason for the long waiting time is probably that when the outdoor area is also open, the same number of kitchen staff is available as if only the indoor area were open. Of course that doesn't work. The service didn't seem particularly professional. Instead of accepting the criticism, people defended themselves: "Food is freshly prepared, it just takes time." Wrong orders were taken, unordered items were brought to the table and there didn't seem to be any organization (waiter 1, table 1-8, waiter 2, table 9-16, etc.). Extra ham for the pizza was forgotten. Of course, this wasn't corrected immediately in the system, but only when I pointed it out when paying. My companions have been to the Schortenmühle before and there were no such problems. Maybe next time I'll order before I set off on my bike in Erfurt. Then hopefully the food will be ready 2 hours later.

Always tasty and a great team. Ambiance really exceptional for the location and location. The attention to detail in the furnishings and the connection to the mine are very well done.

The most idyllic restaurant in Ilmenau and the surrounding area. Very good service and excellent cuisine. And best of all, when the weather is good you can sit on the terrace. Children can play in the large meadows and if you have the time and desire you can take a trip into the old mine tunnels.

I can only warmly recommend the Schortemühle. The food, service and ambience were excellent. The huge terrace and the mountain railway that takes guests through the forest are a highlight.

Today we ate here again after actually positive experiences and were very disappointed. The waitress took the order and didn't even look at us after that. Unfortunately, a repeat order was only possible because the boss noticed that we weren't being served. However, this order only arrived at the counter and not at our table. Unfortunately, the food wasn't satisfactory either. Pizza very sparsely topped and dry, but with a wide edge🙄. The ruccola that came with it was peppered with grass... very tasty 🤔. The observation I had to make in the kitchen wasn't appetizing at all. There was just a "construction worker" with dirty clothes and shoes standing on the counter next to the prepared salad...that doesn't work at all😖. Can't compare with before and can't recommend anymore.

This restaurant impresses with its fantastic ambience as soon as you enter. The food is excellent and the attentive service is simply perfect. Parking spaces are also available directly in front of the door.

The food was really delicious and the price/performance ratio was also right. The conditions were all really very friendly, attentive and always up for a bit of fun with the guests. An absolute must is the toilet, a poem in terms of visual impressions and of course very clean. The “Restaurant Zur Schortemühle” is always worth a visit!

The ambience is really great, we were there on a Friday and it wasn't very crowded.. The first drink order came quickly and so did the food.. The food was delicious.. Unfortunately, we were completely overlooked by the service and we had to wave and shout to draw attention to ourselves. Unfortunately, that was a real shame and it was probably the first and last time I was there..

A beautiful and stylishly furnished restaurant on the outskirts of Ilmenau. The prices are a bit high, but the food is worth every euro. Very tasty and beautifully prepared. The staff is friendly and courteous. Dogs are allowed and welcome.

The 5 stars are not enough to do justice to the restaurant in all areas. The visit is a “must”. Even if it sounds strange, the toilets are awesome, in a positive sense.

Spontaneous visit with 9 people, food and staff everything went well, we were very satisfied, large selection of food and for every taste. Large portions.

Nice beer garden to sit outside. Interior also modernly furnished. The toilets and the path there are a highlight. The service was also good, although there was a slight hint of hecticness when we were there on Friday evening and it was quite busy. Pasta and pizza were good. Roulade and trout were edible, but we wouldn't order them again. We were just looking forward to it. The dumplings were convenience. Red cabbage was rather greyish, everything seemed warmed up. The trout miller was in the deep fryer. This makes it far too crispy and greasy. The potato also adds convenience. Good thing there was still the salad. The garden lemonade was delicious.

The food was of outstanding quality and production. The service was extremely courteous and nice. What particularly stood out were the sanitary facilities & a real feast for the eyes. We were even given a wonderful red rose. When we were here a long time ago, it was improved to its present condition. Overall, I would give it 11/10 points🤣😅 🤭

A mega beautiful, beautifully furnished and idyllic restaurant in the middle of nature. The food here is delicious, but you have to take a lot of time here. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. A second time we had to wait 1.5 hours and today 1.45 hours for our food. We then left. A pity

We went to the Schortemühle for lunch today for the first time and we were impressed by the service, the food and the ambience. Our Moppsi was also welcome. The restaurant deserves an absolute recommendation.

One of the few places in Ilmenau and the surrounding area where you can have a cozy meal 😉 The ambience is nice but partly wildly thrown together, the dining room is cozy, when you go to the toilet you think you are in a scene bar in Berlin with modern elements and partly also very disreputable.

Great, cozy atmosphere and a very special design on the toilet and on the way there. Very friendly service and super delicious food. The prices are reasonable. For my taste, the selection of vegetarian dishes could be a little larger, but that's complaining at a high level. We'd love to come back.

We went out to eat spontaneously, without a reservation and immediately got a table for two people. The atmosphere and staff were great, you didn't have to wait long for the food, about 15 minutes, everything was freshly prepared and tasted delicious. I can only recommend.

On November 24th, 2023 I had a celebration with around 50 people in the Schortemühle. Reservations and arrangements were made quickly and easily. Even though the entire restaurant was full of guests, the service was great. We didn't have to wait long and the food was very good! I would do exactly the same again at any time!

Very nice! The food is really more than good, especially the lasagna and the trout. In the evening you can also have mega cocktails mixed. The staff is always courteous and really friendly. I always enjoy coming here!

First class restaurant. Had dinner there. Extensive menu at high prices, but it was worth every penny. The quality and especially the quantity of the food were above average. Top service and also ambience. We arrived unannounced with two dogs, were immediately invited in and allowed to sit down - without complaining. We were very satisfied and would like to come back.

Vorneweg: So eine tolle Location hatten wir lange nicht! Hier gebe ich gerne die volle Punktzahl. Wir sind auf unserer Wanderung an der Schortemühle vorbeigekommen. Die Gaststätte sah so einladend aus, dass wir uns spontan zu einem Besuch entschlossen. Obwohl wir keine Reservierung hatten, besorgte uns die freundliche Bedienung einen Tisch. Eine Reservierung ist gerade zur Mittagszeit zu empfehlen. Die Einrichtung in der Gaststätte ist neu, hochwertig und sehr geschmackvoll. Ein besonderes Highlight sind die Toiletten 😀 Die Preise waren normal und die Pizza war die beste, die ich seit langem hatte! Einfach nur lecker. Hier kommen wir bestimmt wieder hin. Falls man es noch nicht gemerkt hat, ich bin begeistert das so etwas im Thüringer Wald gibt 🤩

Erst einmal zum Ambiente es ist wunderschön nicht nur dass die Aussicht wunderschön ist und du durch eigentlich Wald fährst und denkst wo kommst Du denn hier hin dass du nicht erwartest dass dann sowas auf dich zukommt du kannst mit Kindern in den Berg fahren kriegst so viele tolle Sachen gezeigt wir haben dort einen Geburtstag gefeiert habe dort im Vorabend angerufen bestellt und wurde sehr nett und fachmännisch sehr gut beraten wurde dann auch sehr gut geplant und über E-Mail haben wir auch weitere Sachen für die Feier gut klären und ausräumen und besprechen können sie haben sehr hübsche Blumen für unseren Tisch gestaltet sie haben sehr nette Bedienung das Essen war sehr gut sie haben sehr gut die bergbahn für uns organisiert gestaltet und angemeldet muss ich ehrlich sagen es war auch sehr lecker für 25 Personen wo wir da waren ist zwar der Preis etwas hoch aber wenn man sich mal etwas Gutes leisten möchte empfehle ich jedem der italienisches Essen liebt da mal vorbeizuschauen eine gute Pizza eine gute Pasta wirklich empfehlenswert auch die Antipasti fand ich sehr schön und sehr gut die wir in der Runde hatten auch die Cocktails also die Aperol spritz und auch die Beere und die Weine waren finde ich in Ordnung und angemessen für das Lokal der Kellner sehr nett und bediente uns auf Italienisch wir auf Deutsch sehr korrekt sie waren schnell in der Umsetzung und haben sich auf unsere Bedürfnisse unsere Gruppe sehr eingelassen finde ich top auch unseren Kindern hat der außenbereich sehr gut gefallen sie konnten dort viel toben und spielen nachdem wir eine bergtour gemacht hatten ich hatte die Nummer die Nummer 38 die Pizza funghi sehr sehr lecker beim letzten Mal wie wir schon mal dort waren hatte ich die Nudeln Tortellini schinken-sahne-soße auch ein absoluter Traum und nicht zu vergessen geht mal auf die Toiletten es ist ein Erlebnis nicht nur der Weg zu den Toiletten auch die Toiletten an sich sind der Hammer das ganze Lokal ist der Hammer die riesengroße schneekopfkugel an der Wand wo wir saßen der wunderschöne gedeckte Tisch die gemütlichen Stühle da wunderbar schöne biergarten die wunderbar nette Bedienung des bergwerk wo man durch geht um auf Toilette zu kommen ist der Hammer ein paar hier und da mehr Cocktails oder eine Bar die Cocktails Mix würde mir ja gefallen aber das würde wahrscheinlich nicht vom Aufwand her klappen da ist etwas außerhalb ist und es war sehr voll muss ich sagen am besten einen Tisch reservieren wir waren schon früh da und da war es relativ leer und wurde dann aber gegen 7 Uhr zu abendbrot Zeit sehr voll dort und man hat kaum noch einen Tisch gekriegt gut dass wir als große Gruppe reserviert hatten. Man kann dort super wandern und kann dann dort hingehen und kann sich dort dann verköstigen lassen auch die Radwege dorthin sind sehr schön man darf sich von dem äußeren Eindruck nicht täuschen lassen wenn man durch Wald und Kleingarten und gartenanlagen fährt und man denkt man kommt irgendwie falsch irgendwo raus aber es lohnt sich da mal hinzugehen schaut euch auf der Internetseite um da findet ihr schon Inspiration und die Speisekarte die kann ich euch empfehlen schmeckt alles sehr gut hundefreundlich waren sie kinderfreundlich waren sie alles zu unserer Zufriedenheit.

Kamen mit 14 Personen ohne Reservierung und bekamen bei fast vollem Gastraum trotzdem noch Plätze für uns. Essen war sehr gut und das Ambiente sehr stimmig. Besonders die Toiletten sind einen Besuch wert.

Total abgelegene Lokalität. Absolute Ruhe, total nettes Personal, super schönes Ambiente und hervorragendes Essen. Absoluter Geheimtipp für alle die nicht aus der Region sind. 👍

Kurz und knapp essen und Ambiente waren sehr gut, aber was man auf alle fälle erwähnen muss ist unsere Bedienung an diesen Abend gewesen, die war mega lustig und hat des Abendessen zu was besonderen gemacht. Danke dafür.

Begeistert von A bis Z. Den zuvorkommenden 1A-Service durften wir schon bei der telefonischen Voranfrage, bei der wir kurzfristig für 13 Personen anfragten und der Kommunikation hieraus erleben. Verspätet angekommen wurden wir herzlich empfangen und freundlich bedient. Ruhig und etwas außerhalb gelegen, haben wir dort auf der Terrasse zu Abend essen, die Ruhe und Gastlichkeit genießen können. Leider war die Zeit zu kurz. Auch wenn es sich etwas 'verrückt' anhört: Die Toiletten und der Gang dorthin waren noch Tage danach - im positiven Sinne - Gesprächsthema. Das Restaurant zur Schortemühle besticht durch das stimmige Gesamtarrangement, überzeugt durch eine gute Speisenauswahl, freundliche Mitarbeiter und ist zu 💯% empfehlenswert.

Wer im voraus bestellt, kann sich sicher sein auch einen Platz zu bekommen. Ich bin auf gut Glück hin und hatte auch Glück gehabt. Das Essen ist ausgezeichnet und wir haben nur 10 Minuten gewartet, dann war das Essen da. Komme jederzeit gerne wieder.

Essen sehr gut und lecker. Sehr schick alles. Außergewöhnliche Toilette im Bergwerk Style. Sehr ordentlich. Gut besucht man muss unbedingt reservieren.

Ein wunderschön gelegenes Restaurant, mit sehr viel Stil und Liebe eingerichtet und selbst der Gang zur Toilette ist ein Erlebnis. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit zügig und das Essen hat gut geschmeckt! Bitte weiter so ,wir kommen gerne wieder und ich werde es in meinen Freundes und Bekanntenkreis weiter empfehlen!!!

Die Pizza war der Hammer! Leider war im Restaurant kein Platz mehr, deshalb mussten wir draußen sitzen. Da wären bei mittlerweile kühlen Abenden Sitzkissen und Decken wünschenswert gewesen. Aber Essen ist empfehlenswert.

An sich super schön gewesen. Hatten uns leider vergessen aber gut kann vorkommen. Haben dann an Getränken was gratis bekommen. Das Bad war echt der knaller. Wie ein König konnte man sich da fühlen und die Bergbahn war quch echt toll gewesen.

Ambiente war schön und sah eigentlich vielversprechend aus. Der Essen war leider lieblos „zusammengemischt“. Bei den Knoblauchnudeln mit Peperoni hat die Peperoni auch extrem vorgeschmeckt. Der Service war überfordert, sodass wir fast 1,5 Stunden auf das Essen gewartet haben und andere Tische zum Teil garnicht bedient worden sind (Personenanzahl und jeweiliges Essen worden im Vorfeld bei dem Restaurant angemeldet).

Wir waren als Wandergruppe unterwegs und haben nach dem Besuch des Schaubergwerks hier Mittag gegessen. Das Essen war sehr köstlich und der Service super. Die Toiletten sind ein Muss 😀
