Very tasty, down-to-earth German cuisine, we all had the spare ribs yesterday. It was a really nice evening and we would love to come back!

The food was very tasty and large portions especially the pork knuckle. Just a small flaw, you can't pay by card.

One of the oldest family businesses in the restaurant sector. I was here for the first time over 55 years ago and I am genuinely pleased that this quaint Berlin restaurant has overcome all the difficulties of contemporary history and, today as then, is friendly and courteous and you feel as if you are visiting a friend .

The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of German and home-style cuisine that you don't find as often these days. We chose liver, which was excellently prepared, and it was served with a creamy pumpkin cream soup. For dessert we had cream puffs with red jelly - everything was very tasty and the portions were more than enough. We can only warmly recommend the kitchen. Although the restaurant was very busy and we hadn't made a reservation, we were still able to find a nice seat. The service was quick, attentive and always friendly with a smile on her face. We thought it was particularly great that a birthday was being celebrated that evening, which gave us an hour of free live music. Some guests may have found it a bit noisy, but for us it was a nice touch that rounded off the evening. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening – we’ll definitely be back!

I'm rarely prone to excessive enthusiasm, but here I'll make an exception. The service is attentive and not fussy, but neither intrusive nor cheeky. We both enjoyed the food very much. Down-to-earth cuisine with a bit of a twist. The portions are absolutely sufficient and reasonably priced. The garden invites you to linger in summer, but you might miss the interesting interior. Friends of the Berlin S-Bahn will get their money's worth here. All in all, a clear recommendation!

Our favorite restaurant in Berlin-Kaulsdorf with German cuisine. Very tasty Berlin cuisine, everything always fresh and authentic. Above all, the service is always friendly and attentive, even when it is very busy. You're always happy when you can go to the "Esse" again and maybe meet some dear friends. Always happy again.

The food was quite expensive for a restaurant on the outskirts of town and on the street. Upon request, it was possible to swap the side dish of fries for a baked potato. Unfortunately, an extra 3.50 euros were charged for this on the bill without mentioning it beforehand. What made it very unpleasant at the end was that there was at least one large rat running around my feet on the hedge outside the whole time. We scared them away. I'm glad I didn't get bitten with open shoes. I won't eat here anymore. Only cash payment was possible. Unfortunately no recommendation for a visit.

A small and nice insider tip. Not overcrowded with tourists at all. Huge portions but tasty. The beer garden really invites you to linger. I can't say anything about the ambience inside since we weren't inside. Very friendly staff who are happy to provide you with advice and information.

There is still classic German cuisine here. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Quality and price/performance are also okay. We've eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. It can sometimes be a bit noisy in the garden due to the traffic, but you can live with that. Otherwise you can highly recommend it.

Stopped here to satisfy hunger. The service was nice and friendly. The dish we ordered was handmade and tasted very good. The size of the portion was completely fine for the price. The ambience makes the heart of every S-Bahn enthusiast beat faster and faster, as there are great pictures and other devotional things to discover everywhere. All of this leads to the result: We'll be back!!!

We were recently guests as part of a big birthday celebration. The location is authentic and quaint. Everything reflects the “S-Bahn” theme. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The entire group enjoyed the various dishes. Even ordering dessert late was no problem. Many thanks to the kitchen and the service for the lovely evening. We will definitely take a look again.

Great food and service. Unfortunately, the restaurant can't help it, it's quite loud in places because of the street and the sometimes heavy traffic.

Always nice and good food, only cash payment possible.

The ambience is creative and reflects the name. The service staff took care of us immediately. The farmer's omelet with chanterelles was a disaster. Nests of salt, thick pieces of potato, simply carelessly prepared. I can't recommend it. The staff wanted to cure the whole thing with coffee or ice cream, but... I only ate part of it because I was hungry.

We were there today at 7:45 p.m. and were turned away because they didn't want to serve us any more food. The kitchen is simply closed. I haven't had anything like that either. We then expressed our surprise at the rather early closing of the kitchen when it was open until 10 p.m. We then got a cheeky answer from the waiter and were basically laughed at. I think you're just doing too well there now? With prices like those at KuDamm, you can't behave like that for much longer. Haughtiness comes before the event :)

In the restaurant “Zur S-Bahn” in Berlin-Kaulsdorf we had a hearty dinner, knuckle with potatoes and sauerkraut. The food was delicious, the staff was very nice and the price - for what we had - was quite acceptable.

It's a quaint pub where we had a family celebration.

We were there yesterday with 18 people. It was a very beautiful evening. Everyone really enjoyed the different dishes. The service was very friendly and quick. There were no long waiting times. Can just be recommended. Thanks to the team for the wonderful evening.

We received a very friendly welcome at this restaurant and were fascinated by the extraordinary ambience as soon as we entered. The service was excellent because we were served in a very friendly manner and special requests were fulfilled with a friendly smile. The food was exceptionally good and the portions are quite large. My pork knuckle broke every record in terms of size and was simply fantastic. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here.

We ate here on a Sunday at the S-Bahn restaurant and were not disappointed! A great atmosphere with really nice service that makes you feel welcome. We had schnitzel with asparagus and spiced meat which was really tasty. The portions were generous and beautifully served. The only problem was that you couldn't pay by card. We had cash, but we were not informed in advance. Overall it deserves 5 stars! We will be back.

I have now been a guest in the house about 10 times and continue to enjoy it. The food is delicious and without any criticism. The furnishings are home-style without appearing dingy. The S Bahn theme is well implemented. You don't even have to be a rail fanatic to do this. The service is friendly. Here you feel like you belong. Very good. What I still miss is the option to pay with an EC card. Wheelchair users cannot climb the stairs and have to be carried. This is rather unpleasant.

Many thanks to the great team there. Very quick, attentive and polite. In addition, there is a wonderful selection of food and very good cuisine. Everything is fine, gladly again.

Very tasty food and also very nice staff. We really liked it. I would have expected a little more from the ambience. It's called "Zur S-Bahn" and you can find pictures on the wall everywhere about the S-Bahn, but unfortunately the theme is not reflected in the interior. It would be great here if the benches came from old S-Bahn trains or the door handles came from the S-Bahn... In other words, if it looked something like an S-Bahn from the inside. Otherwise great.

As always, the food tasted very good. Good old Berlin cuisine. You have to know and like the old Berlin charm, then you are in good hands here. The store is always full, so it is highly recommended to reserve seats in advance. I don't think it's the current state of affairs that card payments aren't accepted, but it doesn't seem necessary.

Rustic and original furnishings entirely dedicated to Berlin's rail transport, local transport fans will discover a lot, down-to-earth food in 90s portions, reliable and good service without contortions

Was okay. However, a bit overwhelming with several companies at the same time. Food came very late but was good.

We were here at Pentecost. Had reserved in advance. The cuisine is good and the ambience is also quite original. Everything is based on the railway. There are also real S-Bahn benches at some tables. Every now and then the signal sounds to get in and out 😉 The menu is clear, but there is something for everyone. German cuisine... Not oversized like a Greek or Indian. Here too the prices have risen quite a bit... €29.50 for pike-perch with potatoes, 4 sticks of asparagus and hollandaise sauce.. Pike-perch with spinach and mashed potatoes costs 24.90 (including 1.40 extra because I had mashed potatoes instead of potatoes chose) chicken liver with mashed potatoes and onions 19.50. So the prices don't come from bad parents. However, the taste is very good 👍

We sat outside in summer temperatures, simply wonderful. There were soft and clean seat cushions on the wooden chairs, which is very pleasant. Inside you will find the furniture made from S-Bahn carriages - wonderful. Memories :) The service was quick, friendly and always inquiring (super attentive). The food and drinks (e.g. strawberry punch) were of great quality. Price-performance is reasonable. Many thanks to the staff for this wonderful time.

We took advantage of the nice weather and ate in the garden. Staff friendly. The food was very good. We ate asparagus. That was exactly right. We'd love to come back. 👍

It was another fantastic afternoon

Hard-working service, delicious food - BUT we found 3 sticks of asparagus (200 g) with sauce for €9 a bit steep.

Prices have risen significantly here, by almost 10 euros per dish, but unfortunately the quality has dropped massively. No less than 25 euros for a cold, leather-like roulade with a pure fat filling, which was hardly chewable, you needed a steak knife to cut it, and there was also a very thin ready-made sauce from Maggie. The dumplings were completely overcooked, but the red cabbage. My wife got a weak salad fresh from the bag - you really don't have to go out to eat for that!

Restaurant with a semi-museum character that houses interesting exhibits on the subject of "S-Bahn" and offers great food.

Eating asparagus on the S-Bahn. All good, maybe the asparagus could have been left for 5 minutes longer. A little too firm for my taste. It's a shame that payment is only possible in cash.

We were in this restaurant again after many years. It was just good, very nice service, very good food (I had homemade brawn and my husband had schnitzel with asparagus), absolutely delicious, portions just right and the atmosphere was very interesting....

Nice, friendly service, own parking spaces directly at the restaurant. Soljanka was great, but only lukewarm.... Main course was 2x rabbit legs and chicken liver. Chicken liver and mashed potatoes with roasted onions top. Rabbit was one top, one a bit firm. You're not always in it. Unfortunately, the dumplings were very dry on the inside of both rabbits, which detracted from everything a bit. Will go back when I get the chance and try something different. Overall, the restaurant is recommended.

Wir waren die letzten Jahre immer wieder mal in diesem Restaurant und meistens zufrieden. Dieses mal leider nicht. Die Preise sind in den letzten Monaten immer wieder gestiegen und das können wir auch teilweise verstehen. Die Qualität war dieses mal eher bescheiden. Schnitzel mit Pommes für 20,80 Euro ! lauwarm, wenig bis gar nicht gewürzt und garniert. Das Bier war praktisch ohne Kohlensäure und mit 5,30 Euro auch nicht gerade preiswert. Für mich nicht nachzuvollziehen, wenn man auch noch dabei spart.

Ein sehr besonderes SBahn Erlebnis, urig gemütlich. Lockerer Service, der alles möglich macht ,nochmal herzlichen Dank für Sonntag. Na und das Essen suuuuper lecker 😋
