Nice, quaint and cozy German restaurant. The food is very tasty and the service is very friendly. We like coming here. Parking spaces are available. The proximity to the S Bhf Kaulsdorf is unbeatable. Unfortunately only cash payment possible!

I can highly recommend this German restaurant with Berlin cuisine! The team is incredibly warm and attentive, you immediately feel at home. The atmosphere is super familiar, which makes the visit a real experience. The location itself is simply great – cozy, authentic and very inviting. And the food! The Berlin specialties are a real treat, everything is delicious and freshly prepared. The wines also have a great selection and they are excellent and perfectly matched to the food. The drive is definitely worth it, even if it's a little out of the way - it's always a pleasure to come here. I always look forward to it and can only recommend it! A real highlight in the city!

Wir waren von Freunden zum Geburtstag / essen eingeladen und wurden überaus freundlich bedient, die Corona Regeln wurden eingehalten, alle servierten Speisen und Getränke haben uns vorzüglich geschmeckt, vielen Dank für den angenehmen Aufenthalt. Update: inzwischen waren wir wieder mehrfach hier, mit und ohne Freunde, und es ist nach wie vor immer noch alles Bestens mit Speisen, Getränken und dem Service drumherum. 🙂👍🏻

Why haven't I eaten here before? I've lived in the area for so long and recently ate here for the first time and I was blown away. The staff was very friendly and always made eye contact. The ambience fits the name 1000% and is really cozy. The food is a real culinary delight and the price is absolutely right for this quality. A highlight of our visit was a wine tasting. Very nicely made and delicious to boot. Thank you for the lovely evening with you and please keep it up.

We've eaten there several times. But we have to notice that the quality and quantity of the food has decreased. My wife had zander fillet that was more like a “goldfish”. When asked whether there was still a possibility of making a reservation for Boxing Day 2025, the only answer from the waiters turning away was "No, too late" - in January 2025, mind you. That's not the way to go and completely corresponds to the Berlin mentality . So for us that means - not again.

Found it by chance, thinking from the name it would be something like an old little bistro by the tram. What we found was a restaurant with a lot of charm. The decoration is truly unique and the food is a poem. I would go there again and again.

We were guests here for the first time today. We had reserved for 5 p.m. The atmosphere is very cozy and decorated in the style of the S-Bahn but not overloaded! The staff is very friendly and quick. The food: A DREAM!!! The portions are more than sufficient, freshly prepared and with perfect cooking points! The game goulash fell apart in the mouth, as did half the duck and rabbit leg, the meat was cooked to perfection on the grill and the fried potatoes were perfectly classic. All in all just perfect 1*****! We won't be here for the last time! Many thanks to the entire team for the lovely evening!

Sehr teuer. Dafür Portionen zu klein. Nur Eisbein groß. Hier gibt es allerdings bei 2 bestellten Eisbeinen nu 1 Schälchen Erbspürree und Senf, zum Teilen! Unhygienisch. Nur Kartenzahlung auch nicht nett. Toiletten ok. Personal versucht, kommt aber nicht sehr nett rüber. Hier müssen wir nicht noch einmal einkehren. Nicht empfehlenswert, meiner Meinung nach…

Great Berlin restaurant. Was here for a Christmas party. It was full, but the service was still flawless. Very friendly and funny staff. Food was delicious. I'd love to come back.

Inconspicuous from the outside, great nostalgic S-Bahn style ambience from the inside. Wooden benches, timetables, old S-Bahn doors have been functionally introduced. Service and food were very good.

Service in terms of payment was poor because card payments were not accepted here and even though everything was ordered on time, you had to sit very uncomfortable and were jostled by other guests and almost injured because everything was so narrow. Food should be served hot 🔥 and not lukewarm.

Good German cuisine, generally very tasty and well prepared. Only recently the goose breast was hard and dry. With many guests there is of course a very high noise level. And the ventilation is not good, old building is difficult. Despite the little things, we really enjoy going.

Gut besuchtes Lokal, in dem aber arg geknausert wird. Das Schnitzel kam mit einem winzigen Klecks Champignonsoße. Dazu wurde kommentarlos für zwei Personen eine kleine Sauciere mit weiterer Soße gereicht. Erst auf Nachfrage gab es eine zweite mit der Anmerkung, man wolle ja nichts wegwerfen. Ein normaler Service wie Austausch von Beilagen für Gerichte kostet 1,40€. Warum, konnte mir der Kellner nicht sagen. Und dann natürlich nur Barzahlung. Der Kunde ist König? Nicht hier.

A spontaneous idea led us to this cozy hospitality. The staff is very friendly, the food tastes good and it was comfortable too... what more could you want? Recommended! The atmosphere brought back one or two memories of earlier times, simply beautiful.

Wonderfully equipped with old S-Bahn relics, but restored in a modern way. Ambience just great. Service consistently good. Toilet very well maintained. Food came quite quickly, we were there around 4 p.m. It's better to order in advance in the evening. My wife and I ate goose leg, which was tender and a little crispy. Plus croquettes for my wife and potatoes for me, plus green and red cabbage for both of them. Beer is non-alcoholic and King Ludwig is dark. The food came relatively quickly at this time. The goose leg was good, a little crispy, tender. We liked the red cabbage very much, but I found the kale a bit bitter. The generous amount of sauce was good for my wife, but my main criticism was that it was too bitter and didn't have enough goose flavor. But it was still good enough for a 5 star rating because my wife was happy. There are other interesting typical German dishes on the menu that I will probably try out.

One of the oldest family businesses in the restaurant sector. I was here for the first time over 55 years ago and I am genuinely pleased that this quaint Berlin restaurant has overcome all the difficulties of contemporary history and, today as then, is friendly and courteous and you feel as if you are visiting a friend .

The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of German and home-style cuisine that you don't find as often these days. We chose liver, which was excellently prepared, and it was served with a creamy pumpkin cream soup. For dessert we had cream puffs with red jelly - everything was very tasty and the portions were more than enough. We can only warmly recommend the kitchen. Although the restaurant was very busy and we hadn't made a reservation, we were still able to find a nice seat. The service was quick, attentive and always friendly with a smile on her face. We thought it was particularly great that a birthday was being celebrated that evening, which gave us an hour of free live music. Some guests may have found it a bit noisy, but for us it was a nice touch that rounded off the evening. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening – we’ll definitely be back!

I'm rarely prone to excessive enthusiasm, but here I'll make an exception. The service is attentive and not fussy, but neither intrusive nor cheeky. We both enjoyed the food very much. Down-to-earth cuisine with a bit of a twist. The portions are absolutely sufficient and reasonably priced. The garden invites you to linger in summer, but you might miss the interesting interior. Friends of the Berlin S-Bahn will get their money's worth here. All in all, a clear recommendation!

Our favorite restaurant in Berlin-Kaulsdorf with German cuisine. Very tasty Berlin cuisine, everything always fresh and authentic. Above all, the service is always friendly and attentive, even when it is very busy. You're always happy when you can go to the "Esse" again and maybe meet some dear friends. Always happy again.

The food was quite expensive for a restaurant on the outskirts of town and on the street. Upon request, it was possible to swap the side dish of fries for a baked potato. Unfortunately, an extra 3.50 euros were charged for this on the bill without mentioning it beforehand. What made it very unpleasant at the end was that there was at least one large rat running around my feet on the hedge outside the whole time. We scared them away. I'm glad I didn't get bitten with open shoes. I won't eat here anymore. Only cash payment was possible. Unfortunately no recommendation for a visit.

A small and nice insider tip. Not overcrowded with tourists at all. Huge portions but tasty. The beer garden really invites you to linger. I can't say anything about the ambience inside since we weren't inside. Very friendly staff who are happy to provide you with advice and information.

There is still classic German cuisine here. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Quality and price/performance are also okay. We've eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. It can sometimes be a bit noisy in the garden due to the traffic, but you can live with that. Otherwise you can highly recommend it.

Stopped here to satisfy hunger. The service was nice and friendly. The dish we ordered was handmade and tasted very good. The size of the portion was completely fine for the price. The ambience makes the heart of every S-Bahn enthusiast beat faster and faster, as there are great pictures and other devotional things to discover everywhere. All of this leads to the result: We'll be back!!!

We were recently guests as part of a big birthday celebration. The location is authentic and quaint. Everything reflects the “S-Bahn” theme. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The entire group enjoyed the various dishes. Even ordering dessert late was no problem. Many thanks to the kitchen and the service for the lovely evening. We will definitely take a look again.

The ambience is creative and reflects the name. The service staff took care of us immediately. The farmer's omelet with chanterelles was a disaster. Nests of salt, thick pieces of potato, simply carelessly prepared. I can't recommend it. The staff wanted to cure the whole thing with coffee or ice cream, but... I only ate part of it because I was hungry.

We were there today at 7:45 p.m. and were turned away because they didn't want to serve us any more food. The kitchen is simply closed. I haven't had anything like that either. We then expressed our surprise at the rather early closing of the kitchen when it was open until 10 p.m. We then got a cheeky answer from the waiter and were basically laughed at. I think you're just doing too well there now? With prices like those at KuDamm, you can't behave like that for much longer. Haughtiness comes before the event :)

In the restaurant “Zur S-Bahn” in Berlin-Kaulsdorf we had a hearty dinner, knuckle with potatoes and sauerkraut. The food was delicious, the staff was very nice and the price - for what we had - was quite acceptable.

It's a quaint pub where we had a family celebration.

We were there yesterday with 18 people. It was a very beautiful evening. Everyone really enjoyed the different dishes. The service was very friendly and quick. There were no long waiting times. Can just be recommended. Thanks to the team for the wonderful evening.

We received a very friendly welcome at this restaurant and were fascinated by the extraordinary ambience as soon as we entered. The service was excellent because we were served in a very friendly manner and special requests were fulfilled with a friendly smile. The food was exceptionally good and the portions are quite large. My pork knuckle broke every record in terms of size and was simply fantastic. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here.

We ate here on a Sunday at the S-Bahn restaurant and were not disappointed! A great atmosphere with really nice service that makes you feel welcome. We had schnitzel with asparagus and spiced meat which was really tasty. The portions were generous and beautifully served. The only problem was that you couldn't pay by card. We had cash, but we were not informed in advance. Overall it deserves 5 stars! We will be back.

I have now been a guest in the house about 10 times and continue to enjoy it. The food is delicious and without any criticism. The furnishings are home-style without appearing dingy. The S Bahn theme is well implemented. You don't even have to be a rail fanatic to do this. The service is friendly. Here you feel like you belong. Very good. What I still miss is the option to pay with an EC card. Wheelchair users cannot climb the stairs and have to be carried. This is rather unpleasant.

Many thanks to the great team there. Very quick, attentive and polite. In addition, there is a wonderful selection of food and very good cuisine. Everything is fine, gladly again.

Very tasty food and also very nice staff. We really liked it. I would have expected a little more from the ambience. It's called "Zur S-Bahn" and you can find pictures on the wall everywhere about the S-Bahn, but unfortunately the theme is not reflected in the interior. It would be great here if the benches came from old S-Bahn trains or the door handles came from the S-Bahn... In other words, if it looked something like an S-Bahn from the inside. Otherwise great.

As always, the food tasted very good. Good old Berlin cuisine. You have to know and like the old Berlin charm, then you are in good hands here. The store is always full, so it is highly recommended to reserve seats in advance. I don't think it's the current state of affairs that card payments aren't accepted, but it doesn't seem necessary.

Home-style restaurant with Berlin cuisine. I can only recommend.

Was okay. However, a bit overwhelming with several companies at the same time. Food came very late but was good.

We were here at Pentecost. Had reserved in advance. The cuisine is good and the ambience is also quite original. Everything is based on the railway. There are also real S-Bahn benches at some tables. Every now and then the signal sounds to get in and out 😉 The menu is clear, but there is something for everyone. German cuisine... Not oversized like a Greek or Indian. Here too the prices have risen quite a bit... €29.50 for pike-perch with potatoes, 4 sticks of asparagus and hollandaise sauce.. Pike-perch with spinach and mashed potatoes costs 24.90 (including 1.40 extra because I had mashed potatoes instead of potatoes chose) chicken liver with mashed potatoes and onions 19.50. So the prices don't come from bad parents. However, the taste is very good 👍

We sat outside in summer temperatures, simply wonderful. There were soft and clean seat cushions on the wooden chairs, which is very pleasant. Inside you will find the furniture made from S-Bahn carriages - wonderful. Memories :) The service was quick, friendly and always inquiring (super attentive). The food and drinks (e.g. strawberry punch) were of great quality. Price-performance is reasonable. Many thanks to the staff for this wonderful time.
