We were there on July 29, 2024 with a group of 6 people and asked that 2 of the 4-person tables be put together, which was obviously not possible and with comments from the staff in the background (certainly not intended for our ears), here literally "the were probably in the sun for too long. In addition, the service was not particularly friendly, which contributes to the general image of this place. Food and drinks are completely overpriced. The price-performance ratio is absolutely not right here. Only, the decoration is impressive. My recommendation: take a close look at the decorations and stop by in the neighborhood.

We loved this place, is so amazing the decoration, we try the Milanese with mushroom so tasty, the service very good people are very kind here. Thank you 🫶🏼

I waited 30 minutes or so for my food even though there were only two families in the restaurant

Forced to come here as apart of a tour. The most disgusting schnitzel I’ve had in my two years living in Germany. Half pint of beer was 6 euro, .33L bottle of water 4 euro. If you stopped focusing on the decorations on walls and start serving food that is edible and not cooked from frozen, the restaurant won’t be empty on a Saturday night.

You want to know my impression. Well, I didn't expect to find a restaurant like this in southern or central Germany. Here in the Rhineland area, where many restaurants advertise wine tasting, a restaurant with a wine bar called “Zum Anker” is very unusual. Opposite are also piers for the Loreley cruise and other sights. The prices are normal and you will be surprised at the portion size. The boss takes the time and chats with the guests. Personally, I'm torn. We will be back!!!

Catastrophe...if you want to eat really badly and are in the mood for a rude boss, you're in good hands here!

Very special atmosphere that caught our attention. It's all full of decorations. Really everything. According to the motto a lot helps a lot. Unfortunately, it was also the most interesting thing. The food was ready to eat and really not great. The service also brought a meal incorrectly and charged it in full or apologized in some other way. In addition, the service is very slow and not particularly friendly.

I had sauerkraut and ribs, the sauerkraut was overcooked and the service was unfriendly. The decor of the restaurant was impressive.

Well, what do you say...The food was among the worst I've eaten. I had a schnitzel with fries. The schnitzel was something frozen whole, mushy and didn't taste good. Also ordered coca cola which was completely carbonated. The service was below all criticism. The younger clerk got angry when we pointed out that she had come in with the wrong food. Very unpleasant and should have taken a service course how to behave as a waitress! In addition, my husband and daughter became sick to their stomachs a few hours after the visit. They chose different man than what we ate. The atmosphere and decor are an experience. Here, a lot of time is spent collecting furnishings. Unfortunately, however, the only positive thing about the restaurant. Would not recommend anyone to eat here, unfortunately.

Sunken! Avoid! Bad food, bad service. Scolded by staff. 2 had stomach problems. Non-carbonated drink (cola). Got the wrong food that was ordered (fries instead of potatoes, sauce instead of without, etc.).

We have visited this restaurant before. Chose to do it again. A group of 9 people (including 2 children). Started with Diet Coke without carbonation (probably from the tap?). We asked ourselves if we "dared" point this out to the young female waiter but declined.. Ordered rump steak no. 143 with herb butter and boiled potatoes instead of fries. Received rump steak no. 144 with pepper sauce and fries. Pointed out to the same waiter that I received the wrong order. Got a snide comment that I mentioned that I wanted boiled potatoes (correctly) but not which sauce or number. I clearly said that I mentioned the number which then meant only herb butter. The waiter did not accept this but snapped that "we don't throw away any meat and we can't change the sauce to herb butter". I tried to explain that this was not the case. She persisted and was rude, then took the plate lifted it on the table next to the menu pile, took a menu to refute me as a customer!!! Rude!! Unpleasant!! I then pointed to my menu choice.. she went into the kitchen sulking and muttering, then came out and said my order would be replaced. Correct order came in. However, this made me as a customer feel bad and will never eat here again or recommend the place to anyone else...lucky we didn't point out the poorly carbonated Diet Coke. You don't treat guests or customers this way, the temper and muttering comments could be heard all the way to the table too.

Excellent place for food and drinks, also the decor is outstanding, all bought on eBay and shipped over. Its taken years to build up but worth all their efforts. I definitely recommend.

Typical tourist attraction. We had a tour and the meal was included. The food is ok, the service is average and the decoration...well...very doubtful.

I hope i won’t die after this food experience stop, from an organised Rhone Valley tour. I’ve should imagined the taste from the atmosphere inside. AVOID !

Underground. We were there as a group (13 people) and apparently you don't want to make any money. After ordering a round, we were immediately asked to pay. The waitresses then went to "check on us" without saying a word, but we weren't asked for another drink or even something to eat. So after a drink we all got up and went to have lunch somewhere else. This is how you make sales, NOT!

Will not return, only visited because it was part of a tour. Schnitzel seemed as if it was frozen, breading fell off, and just was terrible. Server had the audacity to say "tip is not included", guess what, you do not tip in Europe, you round up.

Great small town German Resturant.

An outdated restaurant with predominantly German cuisine that shines thanks to its special interior. The price-performance ratio is ok and the portions are plentiful. It is located directly on the banks of the Rhine and parking spaces are scarce. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, some of which provide a view of the hustle and bustle on the Rhine. It's definitely worth it to you.

One of the most horrible experiences I had in Germany. We have ordered ripps and not have been told that they don't have ripps at all. They have served us some ham from Lidl instead. And what is the most cynical - we were charged for this ham as for those ripps stated in the menu. Shame on you guys, shame on your methods.

The complete disaster. Never go there to eat. After an hour of waiting for the ordered ribs, we received 2 pieces of heated industrial processed ham with 2 spoons of sauerkraut. The food and service are the worst you can have. The only good thing was the terrace and the Riesling wine. But this you can have everywhere at the neighborhood. To avoid!

Awesome. You must have seen it. Even the toilet is unique. We had some drinks and soup. Super friendly service. Were allowed to look around everywhere.

Called in when they were just about to close up but happy to serve us just beer and wine. Restaurant is a must see with very detailed and intricate wood carvings. Friendly service. Drinks reasonably priced.

We ate here as part of the Rhine River day trip/cruise. I had schnitzel, and it was fantastic. The place is beautiful and full of images pertaining to the local culture. We also did wine tasting here.

Absolut nicht empfehlenswert. Das Essen hat eine miserable Qualität. Der Burger war staubtrocken und es gab nichtmal Pommes als Beilage. Dazu sind die Preise noch viel zu hoch und die Wartezeit zu lang.

Schlimmer geht immer - hier nach unserer Erfahrung jedoch ganz sicher nicht! Im Rahmen einer sehr schönen Rheingau Ringtour sind wir in dieses Restaurant zum Mittagessen eingekehrt. Da der Hunger sehr groß war haben wir bedauerlicherweise nicht vorab in die Bewertungen dieser Lokalität geschaut. Selbst die für unseren Geschmack sehr gewöhnungsbedürftige und völlig überladene Inneneinrichtung hat uns hungerbedingt nicht abgeschreckt. Die Bestellung der Getränke ging recht flott und auch freundlich über die Bühne. Bei der Bestellung des Essens wurde es schon schwieriger. Die Kommunikation war mangels deutscher Sprachkenntnisse seitens der zweiten Servicekraft schwierig. Nach Reklamation und einer sehr langen Wartezeit von fast einer Stunde -das Restaurant war zu diesem Zeitpunkt sehr überschaubar besucht- kam das bestellte Essen. Dabei war eine Portion Pommes. Die Konsistenz der Pommes ist sehr schwer zu beschreiben. Für uns entstand der Eindruck, dass sie nur ganz kurz in der Fritteuse waren. Das ebenso bestellte Hozfällersteak war dahingegen so zäh, dass es, abgesehen von einem Probebiss, komplett wieder zurückgegeben wurde. Für ein Kind in unserer Gruppe hatten wir Kinderspaghetti bestellt. Die Spaghetti waren nach unserer Beurteilung unzureichend erhitzt und auch nur lauwarm. Die Soße dazu ebenso. Auf einem bestellten Tessiner Schnitzel wurde Scheiblettenkäse verarbeitet. Auch die restlichen Speisen entsprachen nach unserm Empfinden sicher keiner gastronomiewürdigen Qualität. Unsere Reklamationen liefen ins Leere. Die Gelegenheit einer Mangelbeseitigung nach unserer Mängelrüge wurde nicht genutzt. Der anwesende gut deutschsprechende Serviceangestellt sagte uns das der Koch schon in die Jahre gekommen wäre... Zum Ausgleich der Schlechtleistung hat man uns einen Kaffee und ein Dessert angeboten. Darauf war uns in dieser Situation jedoch der Appetit vergangen. Bei der Bezahlung bat ich darum die Schlechtleistung und die nicht oder nur zum kleinen Teil verspeisten Gerichte in Abzug zu bringen. Bedingt durch die Nichterreichbarkeit des Inhabers des Restaurants wurden wir um eine schriftliche Klärung der Situation gebeten. Um die Angelegenheit vor Ort und der Familie nicht eskalieren zu lassen willigte ich ein. Die darauffolgende Kommunikation gestaltete sich schwierig, da der Unternehmer zunächst nicht auf meine Anfragen reagierte. Nach Hinzuziehung des Bürgermeisters der Stadt Rüdesheim erhielt ich dann doch eine Antwort des Inhabers. Ich kürze es ab: natürlich war alles ganz anders, als von uns geschildert. Allerdings zeigte sich schon bei der Angabe einer abweichenden Anzahl der Gäste an unserem Tisch eine gewisse Unschärfe in der Erinnerung seiner Angestellten, die möglicherweise u. a. auch der Sprachbarriere einer Servicekraft geschuldet war. Da ein Konsens ausgeschlossen war eröffnete ich ein freiwilliges Schlichtungsverfahren bei der Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes, welche von dem Unternehmer jedoch abgelehnt wurde. Die Vielzahl der fast inhaltlich übereinstimmenden negativen Bewertung in diesem und anderen Portalen können wir nach unserer Erfahrung zu 100 % bestätigen. The food is outstanding! I enjoyed my meal. The service was perfect. The decor is very eclectic with mermaids, wood spirits, miniatures, etc Strange and fun!

Nettes Restaurant mit sehenswerter Innenausstattung. Die Speisekarte ist eher italienisch ausgestattet, was man hier nicht erwartet. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und die Speisen und Getränke lassen darauf schließen, dass man nur auf Laufkundschaft setzt.

Whether it's to your taste or not, the place looks unique with a super interesting atmosphere (it is dark). Haven't had any food there but the drinks we had - juices and wine were actually cheaper than normal, comparing to Frankfurt after inflation. The staff were nice and I don't mind a manager who's wearing glasses, as long as he is respectful, which he was. I actually went there twice and it was only when waiting for the next ship back to Rüdesheim when doing the tour. All in all, I'd recommend visiting it at least once and helping the owner with his business.

Das Restaurant,oder besser das Erlebnisrestaurant ist der Brüller. Ok, über die Küche möchte ich nicht viele Worte verlieren. Es gab ein Industrieschnitzel mit einer Scheibe Scheiblettenkäse und schon hat man ein Toscanaschnitzel. Die Pommes waren nicht richtig durchgebraten und die Mayonnaise war auch abgelaufen. Aber da das Restaurant soviel Ablenkung bietet, war das Menü hier Nebensache. Die Bedienung war sympathisch und entschuldigte sich für das Ergebnis der Küche und die abgelaufene Mayo...alles gut.😉

During our Rhine Valley tour, we were brought here for lunch by our driver cum guide. Since we were vegetarians, the choice was very limited. We were served omelette with potatoes and tomatoes for lunch which was very good. Our two other fellow travelers got proper non veg meals. However this place much is more than food. One has to see the interior to believe it. We have never seen this type of restaurant anywhere in the world. There was a lot of antique furniture, lamps, carvings, paintings, statues, and beautiful artefacts all over the place. There was not even an inch of wall vacant including toilet. They also had a special package costing 295 euro per person where a chauffeur would pick you up for a candlelight dinner with wine served in a beautiful exclusive room decorated with Versace furniture. Don't miss it...

My wife and I visited as a part of a tour group. Stopping in for lunch we had a delicious meal accompanied by very good service. One of the big features is the decor. Gathering nautical items during a 25 yr period, there is so much to see; this truly has a ‘wow’ factor. It’s a must see.

Three friends and I visited this restaurant as part of an ETS Rhine cruise. The tour was good fun and the guide was excellent but the one course lunch was abysmal. The food was horrible and the decor of the establishment was totally over the top and tacky. Every surface of every piece of furniture and every wall, including in the toilets, was adorned in paintings, garish ornaments and coloured lights. Awful! The wine tasting was very disappointing. I would not recommend a visit

Wir waren auf einem Familienausflug und hatten dort vorab reserviert. Es hat ganze 75 Minuten gedauert, bis wir schließlich unser Essen hatten, obwohl Schnitzel und Bratkartoffeln keinen wirklichen kulinarischen Anspruch darstellen. Dennoch waren die Bratkartoffeln nur noch lauwarm. Die zum lauwarmen Schnitzel bestellte Jägersauce war geschmacklich eine Zumutung, da völlig überwürzt bzw versalzen. Sie bestand vermutlich lediglich aus einer gekörnten Brühe, die mit viel Stärke eingedickt wurde. Die für eine Rahmsauce übliche Sahne war anscheinend vergessen worden. Insgesamt wurde kein Essen aufgegessen, da es uns allen nicht geschmeckt hat. Unsere vor Ort gemachte Kritik wurde vom Personal schulterzuckend zur Kenntnis genommen.

We were in a Green Line Tour from Frankfurt that skewered us into the place last week. Our travel was supposed to be a multi course meal, with wine tasting. As we arrived the narrator on the coach made it clear we were having chicken & chips with even water an extra cost. The fact that we were marched past 4 restaurants was a harbinger of the horrors to come. One can barely move for all the tacky dusty junk attached to every surface in the place. An older man and woman alternatively took orders, plopped food/drinks on table and added to the ambiance by being miserable as can be. Don’t order something that your tour operator has arranged as they get aggressively aggravated at any individuality. Avoid at all costs this dive and the so-called wine tasting next door where the decoration horror continues. Really felt sorry for the chap at it when folks expect a glass and are given sewing thimbles of wine.

Lieu chargé de bibelots en tous genres mais endroit sympathique tout de même ! Nous avons effectué une croisière sur le Rhin et avons donc eu droit à un repas de groupe, simple mais correct. N'hésitez pas à visiter les toilettes car je pense que vous n'en avez jamais vu comme celles-là !
