Restaurant "Weisse Düne" in Norderney

Als ehemaliger Inselarbeiter weiß ich sehr gut, wie herausfordernd der Job ist. Daher möchte ich meine tiefe Anerkennung und Dankbarkeit für das Team der Weißen Düne zum Ausdruck bringen. Ihr seid unglaublich herzlich und zuvorkommend, insbesondere zu Kindern. Meine eigenen, 2 und 3 Jahre alt, fragen ständig, wann wir wieder zur Weißen Düne fahren, was nur bedeutet, dass ihr eure Arbeit ausgezeichnet macht. Ich möchte hier betonen, dass ich die negativen Bewertungen, die auf verschiedenen Plattformen über die Weiße Düne veröffentlicht wurden, absolut nicht nachvollziehen kann. Ein spezielles Lob möchte ich an Fabi aussprechen, aber auch das restliche Team verdient Anerkennung. Ihr seid alle unglaublich liebevoll, besonders zu Kindern.

Eine nette Location, wir sind dort immer sehr gerne eingekehrt. Aber Achtung es gibt dort einen unsäglich schnoddrigen Kellner. Wir haben den Eindruck, dass er entweder von der Konkurrenz eingeschleust wurde, um das Unternehmen zu ruinieren, oder er hat vorher in einem Bums auf der Reeperbahn gekellnert und kann nicht anders. Schade um die Weisse Düne.

Ambiente sehr schön. Kellner nett und höflich. Der bestellte Milchkaffee war nur lauwarm, was ich immer sehr schade finde. Kaffee kam nicht zusammen mit dem Kuchen. Die beiden Kuchen, Apfelkuchen und Zwetschgen-Streuselkuchen waren nicht frisch gebacken. Selbstgemachtes Eis dazu aber lecker. 2 x Kaffee und 2 x Kuchen (1 x mit einer Kugel Eis) für 28,20 € schon ordentlich. In unseren vorherigen Jahren haben wir dort bessere Erfahrungen gemacht.

Early summer weather; hiking boots on; bus to the "Weisse Düne" stop... As we walked past (with packed lunches from the hotel), the terrace was packed. The place seems to be buzzing...

Die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke können wir nicht bewerten, Servicekräfte waren zwar mehr als genug vorhanden, die sich aber krampfhaft an der Theke festhielten und nicht bedienten. Schade wir hätten gerne etwas bestellt.

The restaurant is very nice, both inside and out. The food is good. But the waiter was very arrogant, condescending, and cheeky. He was loudly gossiping about the guests at the next table, even though they were still there. He wasn't allowed to ask about the food either, and he responded very rudely. We've never been served so badly. It's a shame that it puts the restaurant in a bad light. He should find another job.

...On May 12, 2025, around 1:00 PM, we visited the outdoor area and were unfortunately very disappointed by the behavior of the waiter. From the very first moment, he seemed arrogant and uninterested in the guests. He responded to polite inquiries with an annoyed tone and lacked any kindness. Instead of addressing our concerns in a solution-oriented manner, we were fobbed off with rude remarks, which gave the impression that customer service is not a priority here and that the guests are a nuisance. Every other waiter was simply friendly and served us with a smile! I would recommend shadow training for the waiter in question. The food was really very good.... Unfortunately, the service only made it worse.

Das Lokal ist schön, das Essen gut aber der Service eine Katastrophe. Ein sehr eingebildeter , überheblicher Kellner. Der frech antwortet und noch laut über noch anwesende Gäste bei anderen Gästen lästert. Das geht gar nicht!! Schade für das Lokal.

A great excursion restaurant on the Weiße Düne beach on Norderney. It's become quite the in-house, but it's just a great location. Drinks and meals as well as coffee and cake are quite expensive. However, good quality and the cold drinks are really cold - really cold! That's why you're always welcome to come here. It's just a vacation...

When the weather is good, it gets crowded outside as soon as it opens. Pleasant meals at slightly higher prices. And..... of course I ate the currywurst, the meat was very balanced, and the sauce is, as always, a matter of taste, it had too much acidity for me, but was otherwise pleasant and seemed handmade. The staff was attentive and friendly, so a recommendation for a stop over.

The idea of ​​“fresh sea air” is consistently counteracted here with a “cozy” wood fire. But e-bike and car customers aren't bothered by smog here either. So: everything is fine - for you, not for me. I'm just peeing here.

We have been visiting the White Dune on our island vacations for several years. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio no longer fits.

For me a must every time I visit Norderney. Whether in winter/autumn in a cozy atmosphere inside or in summer on the beautiful terrace between the dunes, you'll feel like you're in a holiday mood here! My tip: The homemade currywurst in a glass, a poem!

Restaurant located in the dunes, with outside seating. Sitting outside is nice, but it has to be fought for hard😉. So it's a matter of luck. With all the guests, the waiters have strong nerves!

It's always nice here, even if it's always full! The staff still tries very hard to find a place for everyone and to serve all visitors quickly and politely! The White Dune is simply the place to go on the island after a nice, long walk on the beach or a bike ride across the island. When the weather is good, all the guests cavort outside on the large terrace and compete for seats. Then you just have to be patient, which often pays off when you get one of the coveted places. The food is a bit pricey, but the soups of the day are always worth it! Just stop by - the atmosphere is always right!

Great location, great set up. The price-performance ratio is not right at all: completely overpriced. Although the staff is friendly, I waited over 30 minutes for my coffee. It wasn't really possible to reorder because someone else was always referred to. The portion was then for a hollow tooth. I won't go there again.

Prices are rather high (as is generally the case on Norderney). Interior not so harmonious and needs renovation. Animal antlers on the wall look very old and don't fit in with the contemporary portraits on the wall. Given the prices, you should also be able to afford a good interior designer.

Yes, I would like to rate the food, but we didn't get anything. Arrived around 5 p.m. and just wanted to stay for a coffee and a little something to eat. When we still weren't served after 20 minutes, we left without having accomplished anything. The bad thing: there was almost nothing going on! We sat outside with maybe 7 other guests, many tables were empty. The waitress didn't bother to serve us. Inside, the restaurant was being prepared for the evening guests. There are 15 people bustling around, everyone looks nice, but no one wants to serve you

A perfect place for a well-deserved break! The good standard has been maintained here for years. Cozy, rustic atmosphere and fresh, very tasty food. The only problem you have is deciding what to take because everything is delicious and very attractively presented. In any case, you should try the “Türmchen” and the plum cake (mega portion!)

Beautiful place in wind and weather

After a hike on the beach to take a break...wonderful... We wanted to have coffee and tea and were actually asked if we were sure. Because after 5 p.m. everyone only drinks Aperol...aha...is that so? I took a quick look around and...yes, it was like that...🤪🤷‍♀️

Very nice restaurant with good food. However, we wanted to eat a currywurst and were surprised by the price. The menu has currywurst with bread for 12.50. When ordering we were asked whether with bread or chips - no indication of extra costs. We then ordered with chips and ended up paying 19.50. I find the 7€ surcharge for chips and no bread to be cheeky and then without any notice. For the price we would have chosen something else.

At 11:00 in the morning, everything seems to be fine because you can get a free table. But then – the waiter growls at everyone who doesn't wish him a "good morning" and is downright grumpy and even unfriendly. The delicious little cake with Frisian ice cream arrived quite quickly and was simply excellent. Since I'm being shipped off to Norderney on Wednesday, I wanted to reserve a table here for my "farewell dinner." Despite repeated requests to the grumpy man, he ignored my request for a reservation. Reserving at the counter wasn't possible either – there was a line of about 20 people waiting for a table. What's the point – apparently they don't need it here, and I'll go somewhere delicious and good to eat.

I happened to cycle past and had a beer to go. Definitely do it.

Unfortunately, it's just overcrowded and the wait times are long. I'd rather go somewhere else. It feels like a mediocre price-performance ratio.

Unique setting, friendly staff and everything you need to relax.

Very nicely located in the dunes. We had a nice window seat (in March) and could see the sunset. The service was good and the food was tasteful and nicely presented. We were also able to get dessert from the daily menu in the evening.

Totally overcrowded. Long waiting times. Staff taken advantage of in situations. Everything is a bit chaotic. Not recommended. After many years I was back in the White Dune. Since I was there a little early (10 minutes), I wasn't served or asked to leave the restaurant. Staff is very arrogant and unfriendly. Not recommended!!

Nie wieder dieses Lokal. 1,5 Stunden gelaufen am Strand. Ca. 30% der Tische besetzt. Trotzdem Schlange am Eingangsbereich, weil man angeblich wegen Personalmangels, platziert wird. Keiner kümmert sich, Schlange wird immer länger. Die Ersten gehen. Dann hat die einzige Servicekraft mal Zeit, auf die Wartenden zuzukommen und es endet in einer Schreierei und Unverschämtheiten. Wir, und auch andere, gehen jetzt, aufgrund dieses keinesfalls gastfreundlichen Verhaltens. Es gibt, Gott sei Dank, auch noch andere Lokalitäten, in denen man freundlich bedient wird und sich willkommen fühlt.

It's a shame, all charm and coolness has been lost. From “standing in line” to paying, it’s just tension. People - we are responsible guests. If it's too full for us or we can't find a suitable place, we'll just leave. The only thing that matters here is how it best suits the white dune and the operation. What the guest wants doesn't matter. You are led to a place that doesn't suit you and have to sit next to people, which you don't always want to do. Always outside, never inside. So - what a pity - please do everything as before...

We stopped for lunch and had a bite to eat. The service was very friendly and quick. We had the potato soup and the sweet potato soup in a mason jar, very tasty and delicious. We'd love to come back.

Spontaneous lunch break during a day trip to Norderney (group of 7). When the weather was sunny, the White Dune - especially the outdoor area - was very well attended. We were lucky that we were able to get a table inside for our group after a short wait. Food good, service excellent 😊. After dinner we went to the nearby beach.

In any case. One waiter wasn't well-mannered and gossiped a bit too loudly about other guests. He should still work on that

Really cozy restaurant with a fireplace corner to chill out, read, slow down, relax,… Something like a lounge with comfortable sofas and seating. Often very busy so that you have to wait at the entrance until a space becomes available. That shows how popular it is here. It can be stormy and cold outside, but it's cozy and relaxed by the fireplace. Definitely worth a visit and my favorite: the hot chocolate :)

Cake was excellent according to fellow travelers - best in the world according to SERVICE 😄 the ice cream was also delicious.

We were in this restaurant today, February 3, 2025, around 1:30 p.m. after a long walk on the beach. We were looking forward to it because of previous positive experiences, but we were bitterly disappointed, which I would like to describe from my perspective. We arrived pretty exhausted; about a third to half of the tables were occupied. Although we were greeted warmly, we were left standing at the entrance for a very long time. We then asked if we could choose a table, this was answered in a friendly manner, a suitable table just became available (we were in a larger group) the ladies and children sat down, I had them in the meantime Jackets hung up. When I came back, there was a very unfriendly instruction that you couldn't just sit down because you had to wait outside until you were assigned a seat because the table had to be cleaned. Instead of resolving the situation easily and simply giving us another free table, either temporarily or generally, the waiter decided to put the whole group back in front of the door, again pointing to the sign, it very much seemed like an "educational measure for stupid people." tourists." Our group was then invited back in and ate something, which was probably OK, but part of the menu was probably not available due to a supplier failure. Maybe that's why the waiter had a bad day. Personally, I decided not to eat there after this number because I follow the principle of not sitting at a table where you or your family are not welcome. According to the others in the group, the food itself was OK, not great but OK. Maybe it will be better on the next visit, we'll see

It was certainly hard to find such a haughty, arrogant and unfriendly service person! But it was successful. The guest is clearly shown what he is in the "White Dune": a necessary evil in order to earn (a lot of) money, but nothing more.

For many years we have been to the White Dune at least once during every stay on the island, both during the day and for dinner in the evening. We still fondly remember the great vegetarian burger with mozzarella and antipasti, which unfortunately has disappeared from the menu for some time. Unfortunately, over the years we have noticed that the service and friendliness of (the majority of) the staff has steadily declined, more and more tables have been added to the detriment of the ambience, while the prices have increased several times a year in some cases, and the portions for some But at the same time the courts became smaller. The last time we were in the White Dune in the evening was in October 2024. It took three waiters to open our bottle of wine. This is what you should expect for a dinner in this price range. This weekend we went to the White Dune again. Unfortunately, the two waiters who were responsible for our area were extremely rude and left a really annoyed impression. We have always enjoyed being guests at the White Dune; Based on our experiences from last year and this year, we will probably not visit the next time we are on the island.

The White Dune has always been worth a trip. Even in high season you have to expect to have to wait longer for a table and that's totally okay. Unfortunately, in recent years the focus here has only been on maximizing profits. The number of tables has been increased and they are now so close together that you could actually sit down at one table. If someone stands up, the table behind them has to move their chair closer so that they have zero freedom of movement. This means that some tables cannot be served. Everything has to be passed on to several people, which means the volume is extremely high and the comfort is lost.

Wir waren zu einer gemeinsamen Geburtstagsessen dort. In der Dunkelheit Ende November empfing uns eine wunderbare Atmosphäre, die wir bei einem Gin Longdrink (Gin hausgemacht aromatisiert) am Kamin genossen. Dann gab es geminztes Erbsensüppchen, Surf&Turf und Kabeljau und Tiramisu, nebst Weinempfehlung. Es war alles okay, so wie man es bei der Preisgestaltung erwarten sollte. Es ist aber, was Koch-Phantasie anbelangt noch Lust nach oben! Nicht gefallen hat uns der etwas flapsige ( nicht unfreundliche) Kellner mit Basball-cap sowie die etwas zu breit aufgestellte Speisekarte! Weniger wäre hier mehr am Meer. Das wunderschöne Ambiente hat es zu einem sehr gelungenen Abend gemacht!

We love coming to the white dune regularly and enjoy the delicious food in the beautiful ambience of the sand dunes. However, this time our waiter only had bad words for us. When asked if we could pay, he looked at us, rolled his eyes and simply left. Unfortunately for us it was an inappropriate gesture towards the customer. Otherwise we were very happy with the food itself.

The exact right stop in the right place! Either to refresh on warm days or to warm up in the cold season. There is a corresponding menu and the selection is wide and delicious. Very nice and attentive service, diverse crowd. There is a public toilet in the building that you can use without having to eat.
