Restaurant "Weisse Düne" in Norderney

Price performance is no longer right, too expensive for the service offered. The food, on the other hand, was very tasty, drinks like a glass of Coca-Cola for €5 were a bit of a rip-off in our opinion. Location is now significantly overrated.

The White Dune was once a place to chill. Unfortunately, things have changed quite a bit, as my visit today showed. I can't help it that there are only 2 employees available for the interior area and one of them assigns people places in an annoyed barracks tone and makes stupid statements at the same time. The hype around this place is a thing of the past. Greetings to the company management: Profit is not everything , is once again investing in more and service-friendly staff.

The exact right stop in the right place! Either to refresh on warm days or to warm up in the cold season. There is a corresponding menu and the selection is wide and delicious. We ate at the Weisse Düne three times in 10 days of Norderney vacation! The spicy potatoes are awesome. The service is extremely nice, attentive and funny. The kitchen is fantastic with great ideas and creations. We're already looking forward to March 2025... We'll be back! Many thanks to the great team for the pleasant time with you 😍😍😍

Oh yes… actually everything was great and worth 5*. It's just a shame that the stress was noticeable during operation. Everything would be better if there was more calm. But there is just too much going on in these locations But... all misunderstandings were cleared up and I give the service a lot of credit for that

Ate great apple and plum cake. Really big portions. Coffee in large cups absolutely justify the price. Service humorous, quick and friendly. The long journey from the town is definitely worth it.

After a long walk on the beach you will find a nice restaurant here with a good menu and nice service. If you don't want to walk back into the city after eating, you can easily take the bus that leaves directly below the restaurant. Attention: As of October 2024, 2nd week of vacation, the last bus leaves at 4:55 p.m.

The Weisse Düne restaurant offers an excellent mix of traditional cuisine and modern touches. We had the opportunity to try the potato soup with crab and the braised veal cheeks and loved them. The potato soup was creamy, rich and perfectly seasoned, the fresh crabs gave the dish a delicate, maritime touch. The braised veal cheek was tender and juicy, with a wonderful depth of flavor - simply outstanding. Particularly worth mentioning is the Saukalt from Gruibingen, a very refreshing and aromatic beer that went perfectly with the dishes. The Weisse Düne not only impresses with delicious food, but also with a relaxed, inviting atmosphere and attentive service. A visit is definitely worth it, both for connoisseurs of northern German cuisine and for beer lovers.

I also recommend reserving a table in the evening. It is much quieter than during the day as only people with reservations are there. The ambience in the darkness and the lighting with candles also has its special charm. The menu is different than during the day (although a few dishes from the normal menu are also offered). All dishes have something special. A big compliment to the kitchen. The waitress can always make a recommendation that you can rely on. We'd love to come back in the evening. The photos show the saddle of lamb with mustard crust, mushroom gnocchi and tomato compote.

The Weiße Düne restaurant on the North Sea island of Norderney is the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries after a long beach walk on the northern beach. As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted warmly and shown to a free table. The ambience is upscale, but still cozy, which fits perfectly with the typical North Sea charm. Particularly noteworthy is the cleanliness of the tables and the entire furnishings, which appear very well maintained. Thanks to the spacious rooms, everyone can find a place that suits their individual preferences. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, which makes the stay even more pleasant. From a culinary point of view, the restaurant is particularly impressive with its delicious plum cake and the island's typical Frisian ice cream, which is particularly recommended.

Great restaurant with a very special feel-good factor in every respect! We were able to round off our short vacation perfectly with a visit to the White Dune. Great food with selected ingredients and the taste is absolutely amazing. We had the braised veal cheeks and the rack of lamb, what a poem! The perfect end to this great island. A very nice restaurant that always offers delicious daily reports. The food is always prepared very lovingly and has always tasted very good. I can recommend a visit to the White Dune to everyone! Any intolerances are also taken into account and the staff is very friendly and you feel welcome.

The restaurant is a little outside, you have to walk about 40 minutes from the city center. This walk along the beach is definitely worth it. My wife and I have visited the White Dune several times and would go there again and again.

Die Getränke sehr gepflegt, das Essen (Mittagssnack Burger und ein Salat) waren schmackhaft und lecker, sahen gut aus und die Preise waren angemessen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Such a great restaurant in a beautiful setting. Great furnishings both inside and out. Comfortable chairs and large tables provide space for food. Here you really get decent portions for your money. Mein Bewertungstitel fasst es gut zusammen. Die Reservierung erfolgte problemlos online. Der zugewiesene Platz am Fenster gefiel uns gut. Bedienung über den ganzen Abend hinweg sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war für mich ein Highlight: Lachsfilet Teriyaki mit schwazen Sepia-Nudeln. Köstlich. Auch die Steinpilztortelloni waren ein Gedicht. Die genossene Flasche Grüner Veltliner schlug mit 28 € fair zu Buche. Insgesamt sind die Preise einen Tick höher, was mir insbesondere bei den Heißgetränken (Espresso für 4,50 €!) aufgefallen ist. Der Beilagensalat kostet im Vergleich genauso viel. Insgesamt ist die Weiße Düne absolut zu empfehlen. Wir waren im weiteren Verlauf des Urlaubs ein weiteres Mal zum Kaffeetrinken dort. Und obwohl es rappelvoll war, bemühte sich der Service um ein Plätzchen für uns. Hier kommen wir gerne wieder hin!

Good excursion restaurant on Norderney

Es ist einfach eine Traumlocation. Wozu braucht man da noch Sternekoch? Ich war dieses Jahr zweimal zum Abendessen. Das Servicepersonal ist aufmerksam und mit großem Spaß an der Arbeit. Man merkt der Gast steht bei ihnen im Vordergrund. Es stehen auf der Getränkekarte seltene Spezialitäten. Der etwas höhere Preis für die französische Pampelmusenlimonade lohnt sich aber. Das Essen zeichnet sich durch seine gute Qualität aus. Die Rinderbäckchen sind so zart, dass man sie fast lutschen kann. Das als Beilage servierte Petersilienpüree rundet das Ganze ab. Auch wenn man hier das Wiener Schnitzel bestellt wird man nicht enttäuscht. So soll ein Wiener Schnitzel aussehen. Gross, luftige Panade. Der Gurkenkartoffelsalat als Beilage ist den Preis schon alleine Wert. Dass auch die selbstgebackenen Kuchen ohnesgleichen sind brauche ich hier eigentlich nicht zu erwähnen. Der absolute Traum ist jedoch das Kürbisinferno als Dessert. Karamellisierte Kürbiskerne auf einer Kugel Frieseneis mit Kürbiskompott klingt auf den ersten Blick außergewöhnlich. Hier ist aber dem Koch eine außerordentlich großartige Komposition gelungen.

Great location, great ambience and great service. The prices are typically Norderney exaggerated, but the restaurant is full and therefore the prices are right. Water 0.7l for 9 euros and currywurst/chips (yes in classy) for 19.50 euros - you have to know that. The food tastes good and is well prepared. But: children's food was loveless - schnitzel was tough and dry, spaghetti with tomato sauce was also dry (the sauce might have passed for a “hint of sauce”). This means that I'm not allowed to come back any time soon - my children don't want to. It's a shame, colored pencils and a painting surface are no longer enough.

Die Weiße Düne ist seit Jahren ein zentraler Ort und dient perfekt als Ausgangspunkt, um die 3km zum Ort zurück zu laufen oder als Zwischenstopp, wenn man vom Osten am Strand lang kommt. Personal top. Essen top, leicht erhöhte Preise, Grad noch vertretbar. Location sehenswert, urig zurecht gemacht, gemütlich, stilvoll, es stimmt hier alles zu wohlfühlen, ob drinnen oder draußen, sonnig oder windig. Fazit: für uns jedesmal ein Muss, über die Jahre gut geblieben 👍💪

We liked the food and atmosphere. However, the excessive drinks prices ruin the experience. 9 euros for a bottle of water is simply absurd and a rip-off, even if you can afford it.

The food, service and ambience are outstanding! Unfortunately, over the years, the restaurant for families has increasingly become a trendy meeting place with corresponding prices. Anyone who has the necessary money will feel very comfortable here.

A great location with a great atmosphere and a fantastic location. We didn't eat anything, just drank something because the kitchen had just closed. A wheat beer for €6.90 is not cheap but still reasonable given the location and location. But charging €8.50 for a blackcurrant spritzer is, to say the least, an impertinence. This price is disproportionate and is simply a tourist rip-off. The price certainly won't kill us, but it leaves a really bad aftertaste... It's a shame actually...

Yesterday the three of us were in the "Weiße Düne" restaurant at lunchtime and experienced irritatingly impudent, diva-like behavior from a waiter. Without giving us the card, he came to our table and wanted to take the order. He was loudly upset that we were telling him said "no hello" after greeting us. When we tried to appease and calm him down with humor, he didn't stop being loudly indignant, handed us the card, put on the mask of an insulted-unfriendly person and took the order. The waiter would like to be a “waiter with esprit”, which is completely wrong. It is recommended that he change his job because he forgets that his job is to serve the guests and not to educate them. At a time when there is a shortage of wait staff in the catering industry, it is not surprising that something so unprofessional and tactless would happen in a restaurant. We just wanted to eat and also had to watch the play Watch "I'm the waiter here". The meal was okay. Otherwise the service was courteous and polite.

We arrived twice this week shortly before 10 p.m., an hour before closing time, and were turned away quite immediately both times, even though we clearly communicated that we just wanted a drink. We didn't feel welcome here

The schnitzel was very good and the pieces of cake were not only big but also really tasty. Staff friendly, great atmosphere, felt extremely comfortable!

You can sit really comfortably in the fireplace room, as well as on the terrace and otherwise there is rustic furniture if you want to sit and eat "properly". We were recommended the strawberry crumble, which was very tasty.

The place is a bit hidden in the dunes, so you won't get the beach view as in some other places, but that's the only downside there is. The place is cozy and nicely decorated as well

Excellent wine advice, nice ambience, nice service, but who combines truffled porcini mushroom ravioli with Asian vegetables in a sweet and sour chili sauce on a plate and then puts a salad with raspberry vinaigrette on top? It tastes something like chocolate-covered sushi served in a taco... a completely crazy combination that leaves you pretty stumped.

Absolutely overpriced restaurant. Very noisy inside and not comfortable. The outside terrace is usually overcrowded as there is hardly any competition nearby. Given the prices, you can eat much better in other stores. But the service is very friendly.
