Super delicious food here at the Strandpieper. The freshly baked cakes are especially delicious. A big compliment also to the waitress Theresa, who is really very kind and attentive. The atmosphere is very cozy and invites you to relax and linger for a while. Definitely worth a visit.

Used to be great, but not our cup of tea anymore. 10 euros for a fries. At least they used to be Belgian-style, deliciously dressed with onions and coriander. And now they have exorbitantly priced pizzas. I'd rather eat them at an Italian restaurant. It's a shame. It used to be a nice place to stop for a stroll on the beach. But this price-performance ratio is bad for you. That's it. Never ever.

We stayed until lunch. It was actually a bit overpriced, but that's just how it is in a tourist area... I found the waiter unfriendly. He didn't seem to know the words hospitality or welcoming. It's a shame to work in such a place. The location is great, but the service has a lot of room for improvement.

We celebrated our wedding here. Planning with the restaurant manager and the on-site team was straightforward; they accommodated all our requests, even last-minute changes to the plans, and truly designed everything exactly according to our wishes. On the wedding day, everything was absolutely perfect: the food was delicious, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, the location was simply amazing, and all of the guests were extremely happy. We would celebrate with you again anytime and had the best day we could have imagined!

Someone here doesn't need any sales in peak season! At 10:30 a.m. today we found ourselves standing in front of the restaurant's closed doors. No phone number. No opening hours on the noticeboard. Someone can move to the table at any time. When we asked when it would open, we received the very curt and succinct answer: 11:30 a.m. By then there were about 10-14 people there, who were also pressing their noses against the noticeboard. There were four of us and we would have liked something to eat and drink. Only those who stubbornly stick to their opening hours and thus forgo sales can probably afford it. As a dedicated sales manager, I cannot understand it at all! Thanks for nothing! Therefore, I will not recommend this restaurant and will not visit it on my next visit to the island.

A very nice location and super friendly and attentive service staff. The food is delicious and the selection is also very good. You can tell that the staff puts their heart and soul into their work.

Very unfriendly: We were just sitting down when, without even a greeting, we were immediately yelled at, saying that our dog was in the way, even though there was plenty of space. We left immediately and won't be back.

The surprise menu for €49 per person is and remains an absolute must: creative, balanced, prepared with attention to detail – and simply delicious. A real highlight are the freshly baked rolls beforehand, served with a small, fine selection of olive oils and various salts. This alone sets the mood wonderfully for the menu. The atmosphere is relaxed, stylish, yet informal – perfect for a special evening by the sea. The service was attentive, warm, and competent, as you could wish for. Whether it was the appetizer, main course, or dessert: everything was perfectly coordinated, superbly presented, and tasted top-notch. The accompanying drinks – especially the Aperol Spritz – rounded off the experience. The prices are absolutely appropriate for the high quality and fit seamlessly into the range of the corresponding restaurants in the village. The restaurant is easily accessible by island bus or taxi, and those with good walking skills can certainly also reach it on foot. It is located in the center of the island, near the airport, offering a pleasant change from the local restaurants. The atmosphere is casual, making it a great place to stop after a visit to the north beach, where the restaurant also has a small beach hut. Not only does the outdoor area have a great atmosphere, but on cooler days, the indoor seating is also very pleasant. I would also like to emphasize that you are served exclusively by trained professionals. The service is a delight. Conclusion: For us, the Strandpieper is an integral part of every stay on Norderney. If you want to enjoy excellent food in a beautiful atmosphere on the island, you can't miss this restaurant!

Everything is very nice. Just very expensive.

We used to go to this restaurant quite often, back when it was under a different management. There were three of us there, and the atmosphere was very nice and inviting, but unfortunately, the Coke was not enjoyable at all. The staff was unfriendly, and we ended up paying €18.50 for three drinks (a Coke, a non-alcoholic beer, and an iced tea). We probably won't be back!

It was another great evening! The surprise menu was exceptional, and the prices were moderate and absolutely reasonable. The service was excellent and very attentive. As a guest, it's truly a pleasure to feel appreciated and to experience a thoroughly enjoyable evening in a beautiful setting. A taxi was immediately called for us on the way home, and we sincerely thanked the Strandpieper team. Highly recommended and worth every penny! Go there and try the surprise menu ☺️

We wanted to stop here with the kids after a long bike ride. The staff was obviously not having their best day today; they didn't say anything more than a quick hello. We needed a little more time to choose – but when we saw the prices, we immediately got up. We're happy to pay more, especially considering the location. We also enjoy eating at other upscale restaurants on the island. But €10 for a fries, the cheapest meal, and €5 for a small coffee are absolutely no longer justified – especially since the location here means a view of the parking lot. What a shame! We used to really enjoy coming here.

Het ziet er mooi uit en eerlijk is eerlijk er zijn niet veel alternatieven maar de keuken viel tegen, de frietjes waren prima, de broodjes zelf afgebakken maar niet gaar. Finally, my favorite Hawaiian pizza is available at Strandpieper! Plus a bottle of chilled Pinot Gris – all for a fair €37.50. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and a really cool location. Perfect for a relaxing break. I'll definitely be back!

Update 2025: Unfortunately, the Strandpieper has lost some of its appeal. The menu is significantly smaller and more geared toward quick meals. For example, there are all kinds of pizzas – but if I want pizza, I go to the Italian restaurant. And unfortunately, the prices are extremely high. A non-alcoholic wheat beer costs €7.50, a 0.33 liter Coke costs €4.50. The pizza Margherita costs a whopping €16.50, and the currywurst with fried onions and fries costs €19.90. Sorry, but this has significantly reduced my five-star rating. My original review from 2024: We were at the Oasis Beach and then stopped at the Strandpieper restaurant. Even from the outside, the place looks very inviting. First of all: All expectations were fully met. The service is very friendly and accommodating, the food is creative and very good, and the location is extremely cozy. It's a wonderful place to enjoy a drink, just an ice cream, coffee and cake, or a nice dinner. We've been here four times in total, so we have a good overview ;) We were thrilled each time – and each time we came away with many positive impressions. Since we enjoyed it so much on all our visits, we even reserved a table for our last day of vacation. On my first visit, I had the giant currywurst with Belgian fries. It's actually a very simple dish, but if you're a creative chef, you can conjure up something truly special. The curry sauce was second to none. And the Belgian fries were served in a large can of Beluga caviar. You can't imagine the silly face I made when I was served a currywurst with Beluga caviar :) My companion had salmon with fresh salad and a delicious tomato foam. When we were there for lunch, we had a piece of rhubarb and strawberry cake and an iced coffee. Both were – what else – delicious. On our third visit, my companion and I had braised beef that had been cooked for 24 hours. This was also extremely delicious. On the last evening of our vacation, we were surprised by the kitchen. First, we had a cocktail, followed by a welcome from the kitchen. This consisted of homemade rolls with an unparalleled arugula and garlic pesto. Also served with three different olive oils: one with chili, one with caraway, and one just plain. Add pepper, a spice mix, or salt. For starters, I had (since I don't eat fish) beef teriyaki with various garden herbs. Super delicious! My companion had shrimp in a delicious breading with soy sauce and cucumber salad. This was also particularly delicious. The drinks were brought along with the starters. Here, too, we were surprised. My wife got another cocktail. Since I wanted a red wine and got one, they chose a Red Ginger, a cocktail with raspberries, for her to complement the color. I got a Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon. The main course was corn-fed chicken on truffled purée and green asparagus. The plates were decorated with truffle foam and an edible orchid. For dessert, we had crème brûlée with mango sorbet and a hint of cotton candy. Afterward, we had an espresso, and we were both completely happy. We've been here four times now and have been thrilled four times. In that respect, the full score, or rather the maximum number of stars, is more than justified. For us, this is the absolute winner of all the restaurants we've visited here on Norderney. And we'd love to come back!

The sea bass, in particular, was a dream – you can taste the good quality and freshness of the products. The thai curry was very, very tasty, especially with fresh and still crunchy vegetables. SIMPLY DELICIOUS!! Praise for the kitchen!! The service was also top-notch: attentive, friendly, and very professional. A beautiful place where you immediately feel at home and would love to stay longer. We will definitely be back – a clear RECOMMENDATION for anyone who appreciates good food and a relaxed, maritime atmosphere. Thank you for the great evening!!

We ate at the Strandpieper last summer (twice) and again this week (once). I was very excited this time, as I'd read some negative reviews in the meantime. But it's always good to see for yourself. Yes, you should check the prices beforehand and be prepared to spend a little more. And yes, you should know that you can only pay by card. BUT: We were very satisfied last year and this year as well. The food is delicious and lovingly prepared. And it's one of the few restaurants where I, as a vegan, can get a starter, main course, and dessert 😊 We will definitely be back.

Good place otherwise extortionate!!

Now you can only pay by card – hardly anything is going on anymore, half the terrace is empty – I can understand why: the price-performance ratio is completely out of whack – even for "Norderney prices." A Hawaiian pizza with a bottle of Pinot Gris (the combination is a matter of taste) was the daily special for €48. Too expensive for what you get. Plus, the unfriendly, annoyed service staff.

One thing to note: we knew about the exorbitant prices beforehand. So, we could have easily decided not to eat or drink there. But we deliberately ordered something anyway. If I were to rate the food (carpaccio pizza + homemade farmhouse bread with aioli) without considering the value for money, I would give it 3 stars. The regular-sized pizza, for an unbelievable €22.90 (!!), was better than the homemade farmhouse bread, which, quite frankly, tasted as bland as ready-made dough from the refrigerated section. The aioli was also just average. And all that for €8.90! A small shandy wasn't available for less than €4.90 either. At these extraordinary prices, in a not particularly chic beach restaurant, you expect at least exceptionally good food. But that was certainly not the case here. We will return to Norderney many, many times, but due to the disastrous value for money, we will never visit the Strandpieper again. I really don't mean any harm, and others may feel differently. But I've rarely received so little for so much money.

After a long walk, we visited for the first (and probably last) time. Prices are simply exorbitant: €7.50 for a bottled wheat beer! The value for money isn't right, and the location isn't particularly good either; it overlooks the parking lot. A glance at the menu put us off our appetite. For example, they're asking €9.90 for 20 French fries, which is completely ridiculous.

Oat milk costs 60 cents extra… long time no see!

We visited the Strandpieper and were completely impressed. The location is beautifully situated and has just the right blend of style and comfort. We had the goat cheese and the carpaccio – both were truly delicious. We were particularly impressed by the relaxed music mix and the attentive, friendly service. We felt very comfortable and would definitely come back!

Norderney is expensive. But this is outrageous. Currywurst 20 euros, fries 10 euros. The prices aren't written in numbers, but rather in words. It's kind of clever, so you don't immediately notice how incredibly expensive everything is. Best to hop on the bus and drive away.

We ordered fish and chips today, looking forward to a delicious portion of fried fish. What arrived, however, were large portions of fries with a homeopathic amount of fried fish. Five tiny pieces of fried fish were draped around the fries, estimated at maybe 75g. But for €23.90 😳, it's completely overpriced... It should really be called chips with a side of fried fish, which would be more accurate. Half a beer for €4.90 is also pretty steep...

Tastes differ! Yes, but an undercooked roll simply doesn't taste good. A pizza made entirely of dough without any topping isn't tasty! Mayonnaise instead of ajíli is simply not nice! We had reserved a table five days before our visit and sat in the corner facing the heater. When we asked to change, we were told we should have come earlier or please sit outside (15 degrees and rainy). Paid full price. The boss served us with sunglasses, a baseball cap, and a very unusual gold chain. Tastes differ. This sentence was thrown at me several times today, but 1 euro is 1 euro and we had to pay the full price. Sorry, not again.

No, not recommended. We were on our bikes and wanted to stop for a quick bite. I can't comment on the food or drinks; we didn't get anything. The prices are very high: plum cake for almost 10 euros, a portion of fries for 9.90 euros. Prices aren't written out in numbers, but rather in full (e.g., 9 euros ninety). A rascal would think otherwise. The table next to us was unlucky; they were served, but first received their coffee, and the cake was forgotten. After waiting for almost half an hour, and the poor, overwhelmed waiter didn't even have time to take our order, we left the place and cycled somewhere else.

We were at the end of the island and, after what felt like 100 km, we were finally able to find our way back to civilization. The walk along Oasis Beach was fantastic. A nice, but probably always pretty crowded, restaurant right on the vast sandy beach. We had beer and currywurst. If the price isn't too high for you, this is definitely recommended. The service was prompt despite the full house. However, one star is deducted for the almost outrageous prices.

5 stars – A true highlight on Norderney! We ate at the Strandpieper and were absolutely thrilled! The location right on the beach is fantastic, perfect for a long, relaxing visit. What's especially nice is that children are not just tolerated here, but warmly welcomed – you can immediately tell by the friendly atmosphere and the little touches for the little ones. The service was consistently attentive, quick, and incredibly warm. You just feel at home. We'll definitely be back!

The website doesn't reflect reality. The outdoor terrace was quite nice, the interior was poorly decorated, and the restrooms were very unkempt. The menu was poorly decorated and worn. The food arrived on time and was nicely presented. The taste was okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, when we paid, we didn't receive the correct bill. The waiter simply held a card reader in our faces and said, "There must have been some confusion between the reservation and another table." When we asked for the bill, we weren't given the correct bill. Furthermore, the waiter was reluctant to hand over the receipt with a rude comment. It was unbelievable... And we also noticed that we weren't the only table that had to argue about a bill. We definitely won't be back!

Ridiculously high prices, making the food nowhere near worth it. The decor was functional but anything but clean. There were cobwebs and dust everywhere. The restrooms weren't clean either, and it smelled strongly. The staff seemed friendly at first, but when we finally received a very unclear and incorrect "bill" and they didn't even want to give us a receipt, the waiter became very rude. I wouldn't go back even if they halved the prices.

Thanks to their monopoly position, they can probably afford these prices. It looked nice outside, but pretty shabby inside. Payment is cashless only. But: first they pull out their card and then get rude when you ask for the bill. It was completely wrong. Even the debit receipt was only given reluctantly. After a long walk on the beach, we were very happy about a stop at the Oase bus stop. The service person was at the table quickly but seemed a bit annoyed that we needed some time to choose from the menu. After the second time he asked, he simply stopped coming; a friendlier colleague stepped in to answer his questions. Ok, it can happen! We only ordered a small thing (baked goat cheese quiche with a side salad) from the starters. What arrived on the plate was anything but a dish from a top gastronomy. The quiche was a hard piece of dough with a goat cheese on top. Some arugula salad (not dressed) and some balsamic vinegar, that's it! A water and a non-alcoholic wheat for a whopping €30.!! This is simply exaggerated even on an island!! Too bad! Luckily, there are also good restaurants on Norderney where you are happy to spend a little more for excellent food! Definitely not here anymore!

Mediocre food and criminally overpriced. You take a price from a small restaurant in East Frisia and triple it. Service was a bit aggressive verbally. In everything sweet, almonds are just a warning.

Although there were only about 10 guests in the restaurant, we were consistently ignored and, after about 20 minutes, ordered at the counter ourselves. Twice and really annoying! The vegetables in the curry were too overcooked for me and the sauce was very thin and little. The prawns were delicious - the price: €29.90 was not appropriate.

Chic, modern restaurant with a great ambience in an exposed location. The food and drinks are tasty, but not exceptional either. The prices, on the other hand, are hefty, so that the price-performance ratio is questionable (even considering the island surcharge). The service is divided: partly very friendly, partly rather ignorant: I went to the counter to order drinks twice myself (with what felt like 20 guests in the entire restaurant); The starter and dessert came too quickly one after the other.

After what felt like an eternity we were finally served. (Other customers left during our stay because they were not served.) Drinks and fries were very tasty. Ambience could be nicer. In our opinion, prices are a bit too high, but this is certainly due to the fact that there are no alternatives in the area. Conclusion: Can, but doesn't have to. 😜

Eigentlich alles super - sehr aufmerksame Bedienung, kurze Wartezeiten, Essen schmeckte auch, aber ab einem bestimmten Punkt ist es dann echt too much. Wenn man für eine Flasche Wasser mehr bezahlt als im Sternerestaurant von Nelson Müller und ein sehr kleines Stück Kuchen acht Euro kostet, dann ist das echt nichts wo wir noch einmal hingehen werden…

I paid 18 euros for a cheap frozen pizza from the supermarket (€2.49) that was charred in the oven. Plus a 0.2 liter cola for 5.40 euros – not even the original. What remained was a disappointing taste experience and the realization that even the worst product can be sold with the right marketing. My recommendation - avoid and go hungry - rip off

Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The somewhat thin Frisian tea is served with "normal" sugar and without cream or milk (I really expected more). The milk coffee, however, was very good. One question remained unanswered: what is Norderneyer tap water for 5 euros? Sounds like “turn on the faucet and you’re done”……

The Sand Pipit does not have anything directly to do with the beach as some photos suggest. It is well protected behind the dike on the northern beach of Norderney, right next to a large parking lot and at the turning loop for bus lines 4 and 8. From the lighthouse there is a beautiful path through the dune landscape, about 10-15 minutes' walk. We didn't try the restaurants but walked from here directly on the beach towards the city. Fantastic way to slow down.

Nur 2 Tisch am Abend belegt. Das Essen war in Ordnung. Beim Geflügel löste sich das Fleisch allerdings fast nicht vom Knochen, das Rindfleisch hatte einen sehr breiten Fettrand. Nach dem Essen wurde einem der Teller fast unter der Gabel weggeräumt und das Restaurant gesäubert. Da fühlte man sich als Gast nicht willkommen sondern eher als Störenfried. Aus Sicht des Personals vielleicht verständlich, aber dann sollte man kein Restaurant aufmachen sondern einfach nur eine Pommesbude. Auf jeden Fall passt so ein Verhalten nicht zu dem Preisniveau. Nächstes Mal sind wir woanders.

Even if the food is really good, the service and treatment of guests and non-guests is subpar. After a hike to the wreck on the It is not possible to take anything with you on the way back (a fish sandwich or a drink). That in itself is ok. BUT - something like this can also be made understandable to those who ask questions in a friendly manner. However, after a rude answer from the service staff, you are rudely asked to go outside. So the decision was made for us to sit down for a quick drink if necessary. Other guests then told us outside that they had to wait a long time for service and that it was also unfriendly. An older lady was literally scolded after asking for a drink to take away. So - even if the food appears to be good and was attractively presented - for us the way we treat it makes at least as much difference. That's why we would like to give -1 star if this were possible. The ambience is ok. Catastrophic for the only way to get food and drink in the extreme east of the island. Maybe you should just set up two machines there. ;)

Essen - Menu war gut, allerdings zu viel. Vorspeise war sehr gut. Hauptgang ging so. Nachspeise war okay. Letztlich fehlte der letzte Kniff für ein sehr gutes Essen. Der angebotene Wein war sehr gut und der Service sehr freundlich. Allerdings hatten wir als letzte Gäste (um 1915 nach dem Essen ab 1750) das Gefühl zu stören.

The place is a mess...! Don't let a mother change diapers with a 5-month-old child because nothing was ordered. Then you had to do it in the parking lot.

Soooo friends.... The Sand Pipit Norderney is a little insider tip for me.... when I saw what I got for my money from others in the last two weeks, then I really enjoyed spending my money here today. For me the salad is the best on the island. Fresh different types of lettuce, small, tasty tomatoes, great dressing... The cake...hamma, homemade... The service. Great, keep it up. All in all, A+

The cake and café were delicious, but at over €24.00 for 2 cakes and 2 cafés it was pretty steep!!

The praises for the sherry matjes from another review lured us to the Sandpipit, but we stayed and came back for the fries with truffle mayo - simply awesome! Plus the relaxed, summery beach atmosphere, a Sarti Spritz and super nice service. Here you can really endure it and enjoy the sweet life. We'll definitely be back!

Actually a nice shop, great terrace. Nice recipes, but didn't eat anything. What doesn't work is the prices. For example, 0.5 liters of wheat beer costs 7.50 euros! Accordingly, everything else costs around 30-50% too much, even for Norderney. Everywhere on the island the people are very friendly, but not here, rather listless.

As every time you visit there, you have to say that the food tastes good and the quality of the products is convincing. At this point, you are happy to pay a little more.
