Great restaurant and delicious sushi

Beautiful modern japanese restaurant in the old town of Konstanz. Both the sushi and soup we ordered were really delicious. Our waiter was friendly. Good for groups, couples, families or singles.

It was a very nice stay, the atmosphere was cozy, the food was very tasty and the service was courteous

A lot of charm is lost due to the timing of table reservations on Friday evening (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. - open). Last Friday around 7:50 p.m. we were asked to hurry up because the next guests were already waiting outside. It makes sense if you plan like that, but apart from optimizing profits it doesn't do much good. Relaxing there with friends Eating is no longer an option. Especially since the service was no longer as good as in the past. For example, sushi and fillet were brought to one person at the same time. We couldn't order dessert due to time constraints, so we went to Il Boccone, where the service was better and we were only allowed to sit for dessert and drinks as long as we wanted.

definitely recommend to go. tempura sushi we really good, however i don’t understand why are there only 6 pieces of tempura sushi… 🍣 also don’t order their cocktails(( they will simply give you juice with alcohol, nothing special. i also order wine, it was good. overall atmosphere was nice, like a family restaurant. loved it

Went to the Christmas party with a group, which was also communicated beforehand when making the reservation. When we arrived we were told we would have the table for a maximum of 2 hours because new guests would arrive. The whole time we were eating we were checking to see when we were going to make sure the table was free again. If I want fast food then I go to McDonalds. Steak itself was delicious and fried in point. But the atmosphere was really bad. Especially at that price, I expect something different.

Very tasty food and great service. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. The food was prepared quickly and was very tasty. The atmosphere was very pleasant. It was full, but the layout of the tables made it feel private. Highly recommended!

Overall we had a nice evening. The sushi was very tasty and the atmosphere was cozy. Unfortunately, the aperitifs were served incorrectly, the crunchy rolls were cold, the staff could have been friendlier and more attentive, especially for this price level.

I'm writing this review again because the stars from my first, but corrected, unfortunately were NOT changed DOWN! I visited the restaurant for the first time three months ago and everything was perfect. I had a lady steak, served with an excellent hot sauce and polenta. Shrimp in tempura batter as a starter. I was very impressed with everything and thought I had found a good new location. Recently I went again. Unfortunately an absolute fiasco!!! I order another fillet, this time - in anticipation because of the good memory - 250g. I wanted the same sauce with it. At that time the employee asked me if I wanted herb butter, and then this great sauce came in a small pan. So I order the same thing and explained everything in detail. Then I wanted to try the fries. After a long wait the food came. What a FIASCO!!! Everything served on a lukewarm slate plate: Filet unseasoned, fibrous, partly charred on the outside. Sauce cold, almost frozen - completely different than I remembered! The fries... I have NEVER been presented with anything like this in over 70 years: they were all soft, literally bent and stuck to each other!!! An absolute disgrace!!! They want €40 for something like that!!! This shop should be closed because something like this is an unparalleled imposition!!! The service employee was probably trying hard and offered me free coffee, but towards the evening I didn't want to drink anything like that anymore. The stars I gave are for you!!! You should be able to give MINUS stars for this restaurant!!! ....maybe that cold fish - sushi - is ok. I don't eat that. But steak - no thanks! You can eat much better food anywhere and at different prices. I don't have to travel from Switzerland to do this either! I actually wanted to try there again tomorrow - after informing the owner - but I'll probably leave it alone - the disappointment was too great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A restaurant that has been established for years with an exciting food paring: Steak & Sushi. The food was good, sufficient but unfortunately nothing special for the price. Therefore: it was nice, but no, not in the future. You can also get this at other prices with the same quality.

Uami is a very tasty restaurant in Konstanz! The service is great and newbies to sushi get great advice, it tastes really delicious!!! The meat in the main course was cooked to the desired point, the only complaint was the fries…..unfortunately not enough…..we were put off with a delicious schnapps……!!! We'd love to come back, but we won't be ordering any more fries... unfortunately they don't taste good at all!!! Best regards Urs Bachmann

It was a very surprising experience. The ambience inside was great, very warm, and the staff was friendly and tolerant. Until the sushi came. We ordered three different sushi and all three were bad. We were very surprised how such beautiful looking sushi could taste so bad. Either they weren't fresh or they were left too long. What we ate was heavy in our stomachs and stuck in our throats, and we didn't enjoy the taste. The only good thing was the homemade iced tea.

Very fine sushi, really recommended! Unfortunately the waiting time was too long, almost 30 minutes. Location is great.

Always delicious! The service is sometimes a bit slow or uncoordinated, but we're not on the run ;-) and the excellent (sometimes a bit unusual) sushi is worth every visit.

Zum Mittagessen genossen wir das Tagesmenu mit Bento Box. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis war sehr gut. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Wurden abgewiesen an der Tür weil der Laden zu voll wäre. Laden war aber komplett leer. Total verdiente 3.5 sterne. Rassisssten??!!!!!!

The food is great but the service horrible. The menu had a broken pice and the waitress by mistake thrown the menu in the top of the glass cup. The glass almost went through my fiancé’s eyes, and we are just 10 days before our wedding! I asked the waitress to check all the menus before to see if the others had the metal broken as well and he got mad and rude at me, he said, move away of this table for me to clean the glass or “get out of here”. It was a very traumatic experience for us! I called the manager expecting him to do something nice for us, change us to a better sit, or a discount considering and scared experience due to the negligence of the broken menu, But the manager hasn’t done anything to improve the client's impressions.

The food is amazing, we were 2 guests and we ordered 2 pokebowls, a sakura roll to share, a Water and two drinks. However the waiter made a mistake and dropped part of the broken Beverages menu on to my drinking glass, which then broke into pieces. We were ofcourse startled and scared, because the glass shards went almost into my eyes. This is serious, due to negligence in part of the maintenance of the menue, my eyes and my fisncé‘s were at risk to be lost. The waiter was then also unfriendly to my fiancé. He said either move or go out of here. We then askes to see the manager, but then it was like nothing happened. The manager was friendly and the other waiters too, but the treatment from the waiter that broke the glass damaged our atmosphere and vibes. We were there before and enjoyed it once with another couple, but know we wont remember it the same anymore after this time. The food is amazing though, however, it doesn‘t feel worth this Treatment.

Actually tip top. A mix of sushi and Staek House. The food is very good, although not authentically Japanese. The staff are very friendly, not always professional but with common sense. What bothers me a little, however, is that when the boss/owner sits in the restaurant, he obviously and constantly controls his employees closely - every movement. It could be more inconspicuous, right? ....and relatively expensive, entirely aimed at the Swiss.

Great atmosphere and really tasty sushi! Beautifully prepared and unusual, great special rolls to enjoy! It's something for those with a larger budget, but it's worth it. Big compliment and clear recommendation.

I was recently at Umami in Konstanz and absolutely loved it! The service was extremely friendly and attentive - you immediately feel welcome. The sushi was a real treat: fresh, creatively prepared and extremely tasty. The quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail are noticeable. A perfect place for sushi lovers! I will definitely be back and can highly recommend Umami.

Very long wait and the meat was gray. Have never eaten so badly. Never again!

One of the better sushi restaurants in Konstanz. We got the big plate of assorted sashimi as well as two maki rolls. Topped it off with a beer and a glass of wine and everything turned out to be around 70 euros for two people. Not bad! Service was up to par and the quality of the seafood was excellent — very fresh. Excellent seafood! -1 point because they did not have unagi in the menu (eel). This is usually a staple in any sushi restaurant but they do not have it here. All in all I will return and try other dishes and perhaps try their steak next time!

There was nothing wrong with the food or service. The only negative points: 1. You sit very close to each other outside and 2. the restaurant doesn't accept AMEX. Since the restaurant is in the higher price segment, you can certainly expect that AMEX is accepted...

Rarely have I had such miserable sushi. Rice noodle salad under all the guns. A handful for €14 - let it go back. Still on the bill. Bento Box - Junk Food. I can only advise against visiting this store. Horrible.

Unfortunately, the quality of the sushi has deteriorated significantly in the last few months. While I was very satisfied six months ago, this time I discovered that the sashimi was dry around the edges. The sushi rolls were also disappointing as they were pretty bland in taste. What is particularly annoying is that the price has increased without the quality justifying this increase. It's a shame, I was hoping for more.

Unfortunately, the umami is no longer what it used to be. I used to really enjoy going, but now the prices are too expensive for the service. The other day I received an incorrect roll (asparagus was simply added). A waitress then told me that the kitchen likes to make your own creations. Firstly you expect that when you pay almost 20€ for 8 pieces. You pay for sushi, you get what you order and secondly, it is extremely dangerous for allergy sufferers! When I wanted to give umami another chance today, we were served very old and smelly fish (see pictures). When I asked the waiters about it, they tried to convince us that we were imagining it. They kindly replaced some of the pieces, but they weren't much fresher. I have also eaten sushi dozens of times in different countries. So I'm pretty sure I can judge whether the fish I'm eating is fresh or not. Unfortunately, I can't particularly recommend the meat in the restaurant, as in the past it was almost always served cold.

Came here to eat with my family, and knowing I was allergic to fish and sea food I checked the menu to see if there were any options for me to eat (which there was). As we ordered, the waiter said it wasn’t possible for allergies, that the knife and work stations were not cleaned after using fish and it wasn’t possible to make an exception for me. He was very unfriendly and did not seem to want to make an effort. So we left. Very disappointing

Very nice presentation of the delicious sushi and bowls as well as steaks

More appearance than reality. Sushi was beautifully prepared, so a cameraman took photos at the table for social media Sushi tasted good, but I've eaten much better for the price. Unfortunately there are no seat cushions on the uncomfortable chairs outside. Waiter came to the table twice, to serve and to clear away.

The sushi was actually good. Already had better ones, but it was ok. But considering it's a sushi restaurant, nothing special. The fries were cold, rubbery and not cooked through at all. When we reported this to the waiter, he said that's just how they are with them. The meat wasn't good at all and the vegetables were bland. The service was very lousy and hardly paid any attention to us. You had to constantly wave/call them over.

We were at Unami yesterday and unfortunately very disappointed. The service was unfriendly and after we were finally able to place our order, we had to wait 30 minutes without anyone asking if we wanted anything else or wanted the bill. Very bad service, we won't be coming back. ---

At the top, really very good, well served, beautiful setting, even in the rain it’s pleasant!

We ordered a starter, a drink and a main course. The drinks and appetizers also came very quickly and were delicious. However, we had to wait a long time for the main course and we were not informed further when we asked whether the food would be coming soon. When the food (beef fillet and pokebowl) arrived, the food was rather cold and tasted like it had been warmed up. Our guess was that it had been forgotten to be delivered but was simply warmed up briefly.

It was really really bad today. I got massive diarroa 2 hours after the sashimi. I already had a bad feeling during the meal that it wasn't really fresh. All in all massively overpriced. Price/value is not right. It was definitely the last time I was there. Not to recommend. Not worth it.

The unfriendly employees in the world can be found there! If you want to feel really unnoticed and get derogatory looks, you've come to the right place. The food is good but if the waitress rolls her eyes when ordering, that's the last time I've ever been there. But it's also a question of whether I'll come back because there are enough people who still eat there and that's exactly the feeling you get as a guest there.

When leaves the restaurant with mixed feelings. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere was nice. The food was mixed. The steak was tender but the grilled vegetables weren't seasoned either. The sushi, on the other hand, was good.

Actually I want to give zero stars!!! Because I saw or witnessed the employer becoming violent towards an employee. I just hope the waiter filed a report! Because I would even testify as a witness. The food was great, the service was okay, but what was a NOGO was the violence on the waiter in front of the guests! Very unprofessional (as an employer)!!!

Went there today and picked up a sushi bowl, didn't even eat half of it and we felt sick and threw up. The price is absolutely not right either.

Unfortunately very small selection for vegetarians and no vegan options. However, the vegetarian bowl was very tasty, although the portion size was rather manageable. The service was very nice!

We discovered umami by chance while passing through and had dinner twice. Once 2 go and an evening in the restaurant (outdoor area) - favorite place… It's incredibly delicious. So far we have “only” tested sushi and desserts. Service and food really excellent. Keep it up, we'll be back.

Pure enthusiasm! Ambience top. Terrace is also very chic. Service was very friendly, accommodating but not intrusive. Sushi at the highest level. Fresh, tasty and the special combinations are a culinary delight! Reservation is an advantage. In any case, see you again soon,😉💯

The prices would suggest you are getting premium food, but it was just okay. The menu has lots of options so that's definitely a plus. Ordered miso soup and poke bowl, had to wait 20 minutes is half full restaurant which was on the high side. The location is nice with plenty of outdoors seating.

Beautiful restaurant and very nice ambience and atmosphere. The salmon poke bowl is good (except the kind of Asian green salad and a few hard bits). Fast service but the waiter too often placed things on my table from other tables which he cleared, quite disturbing. A little expensive.

Wenn das Sushi und das Essen nicht so gut wäre, würden wir schon lange nicht mehr hierher kommen. Die Preise sind viel zu teuer für Konstanz und das Personal ist absolute Katastrophe und unfreundlich. Sehr schade, dass man nicht mehr Wert legt auf die Kundenzufriedenheit, aber muss man ja nicht wenn der Laden immer voll ist.

We ordered the sushi platter for 3 people. The sushi was okay, but I've definitely had much better sushi. Especially for the price. A larger selection of starters would also be desirable. We can't say much about the interior, we sat outside.

the place is nice but nothing too special. it’s all very typical „trendy“ sushi and such. our waiter forgot us a little so we had to wait quite long for each item and all that. Also, we had the steak and it was a bit chewy while the sides were very small for their pricing (the polenta barely had any shitake, so why call it shitake polenta…) Overall, it‘s quite pricey even though it‘s relatively basic. It‘s a good choice when looking for a place where everyone finds something and one is looking for a normal „trend sushi“ place

Wonderfully eaten, drank and had a lovely evening. The only negative point was that we sat somewhat exposed in the middle. But I would even sit on the floor for this sushi!!! *.* PS: Huge plus point: gluten-free dishes (the waitress was able to give us great advice and there was even gluten-free soy sauce there!)

I visited Konstanz for a short trip and had lunch at this restaurant. I had the sashimi and my friend had ramen for lunch, and both dishes were excellent. The sashimi was fresh, melting in your mouth. The ramen has a rich, flavorful broth. I recommend this restaurant if you come to Konstanz for a visit.

We've eaten here a few times already. So far we have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately the service today was terrible, the people were very unmotivated, the soup was cold and the criticism wasn't addressed much

The food is so delicious!! Pretty much the best sushi for me in KN. The staff is also mostly good. The only negative point... the prices are getting more and more expensive. That's why I don't go as often anymore.

Best vegi sushi!!! I don't eat fish and it's always difficult to find fine sushi options. My husband had Iberico pork tenderloin which was ok. Grilled vegetables and chimichurri were not very tasty. Drinks not good at all!

Us was told:best sushi in town.. to bad the service could‘t give a ……..No complainmemts towards the kitchen(maybe the homemade fries should be fried a little longer) but our main problem was the very arrogant service!! order of drinks never worked out and we even have to go inside to tell them they forgot(2 times!!) they really don’t give a damn if you come back agian. I think none of the owners was around to see how terrible this place is. and if he was he should be ashame of himself!!! we will come again when the servicecrew is more proffessional!

1. Reservation on a Saturday evening is important. We made a reservation by phone around lunchtime and surprisingly got a table for 8:15 p.m. When we arrived we only had to wait outside for about 5 minutes. 2. Large selection of fish and meat. Vegetarian dishes are also available. The drinks menu is just as big as the menu, so you'll find something for everyone. 3. The quality and price-performance ratio are very good. 4. Chic restaurant, a bit noisy, but the restaurant can't help that. 5. Our waitress was friendliness personified, very humorous and courteous. 6. However, I found the dessert a little “prudish” compared to what was promised on the dessert menu. 7. A second visit is already planned 😍 Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
