At first I was unsure about a change in ownership, but I was convinced otherwise. The store was very busy, but this did not have a negative impact on service or waiting time. Our food came quite quickly and was impressive. I ordered a steak, medium rare and delivered on point, which is nice to see 👍🏻 My wife had a schnitzel, which she also really liked. We can't say whether this was a convenience product like some of the comments, but if it is, it is a very high quality convenience product. Price performance is definitely appropriate for a restaurant with such a beautiful and central location. All in all, we can recommend the restaurant 👍🏻 We'll be back!

Yes, it was the 4th of Advent - the last Sunday before Christmas, it was snowing and the city was packed. But the restaurant wasn't (one table was occupied), it was between 3 and 4 p.m. and we actually just wanted to have a coffee. That wasn't possible, only with consumption. There was no cake, so we ordered a chocolate lava cake and an apple strudel from the dessert menu and 2 cappuccinos. The coffee was okay, the rest was clearly convenience and just warmed up. We paid €27 for this. The service was moderately friendly and not very engaging. An unfortunately common experience in Monschau: in several attempts I actually only experienced gastronomic disappointments. It's all tourist rip-off, you don't have to win regular customers.

We were in Monschau over the 2nd Advent weekend and stopped by the restaurant for coffee and were thrilled. The prices were fair, the service was super friendly (the owner himself was who took over the restaurant at the beginning of the year) and the apple strudel was delicious and fresh. Not frozen goods but from the confectioner opposite. We thought the shop was so nice that we went there again that evening for dinner. We weren't disappointed there either. In fact, I got really tasty pasta gamberetti there and my three companions were also thrilled by the freshness of the products and the quality of the meat. The owner responded to all of our requests and even bought me a wine because I couldn't fill the glass completely. Nobody would have done that anywhere else (I thought the glass was full enough as it was). So I would come back at any time just because of the pasta and can only recommend the restaurant. Don't let the poor overall rating deter you, I suspect it was from before the change of ownership. 1 star deducted in the ambience for the women's toilet, but that was perhaps also due to the customers during the Christmas market. Maybe check things out more often.

The location is fantastic, a fairytale village, but the place is like a vending machine for drinks but you pay for them as if they were a luxury artisanal product, annoyed and rude service and if you ask for a glass of water they tell you to buy the small bottle at €4, what the heck

Everything was great! I really enjoyed the meal and the presentation of it! People who work there was really kind with us, taking care of the service and for us to feel comfortable. Also the vibe was great! A beautiful restaurant with nice view to the center of the city.

Als we de reviews eerst gelezen hadden, waren we niet langs gegaan…. Maar het leek ons een leuke ligging, pal in het centrum. Zijn geld niet waard! We bestelden 2 cola’s, deze werden in een groot glas geschonken, deze was niet koud en er zat totaal geen bruis meer op. Gerechten: Snitzel met peperroomsaus: de peper leek vergeten?? Rauwkost bij de gerechten was zeer simpel, enkel blaadjes sla 1 schuifje komkommer, 1 schuifje tomaat, wat mais uit blik en een dressing uit een fles. Er kan enkel cash betaald worden en wisselgeld leek niet beschikbaar dus zij voorzien hun eigen tip??

Food was ok, but I would expect it more in a snack bar than in a restaurant. Convenience food, greasy and portion rather small. What was really annoying were the many fruit flies in the dining room, which also seemed very unkempt.

Today we went to the Helloween event with two families. The city is packed!!! We were rejected everywhere. Except here. We were warmly welcomed, had a delicious meal and had a lot of fun with the waiters. Very fun team. When we wanted to pay, my children asked me if they would get another Fanta. I said no, we'll pay now. The waiter noticed this and got the Ninos Fanta on the house!!! So I can't completely understand the bad reviews in the service area. We'd love to come back!

Today we ate with a group of 9 people for the Halloween event after being turned away from 5 restaurants (not full, but only possible with a reservation). The children's plates were really sufficiently loaded with good nuggets and lots of fries. The schnitzel was also served with fries and mushroom sauce. The vegetarian dishes on the menu include a salad and cheese spaetzle (shown with salad, but it was only a small decoration and could be improved). We were also offered pasta dishes that were not yet on the menu. Drinks and food came quite quickly. The kids were treated and treated just as hospitably as any adult; there was plenty of mayo and ketch up and straws. At the end the kids got a soda on the house. Questions about whether it tasted good or whether anything else was needed came, but unobtrusively and in a friendly atmosphere. Many people complain about paying in cash. This is the case in almost every restaurant in Monschau. The location simply makes it unprofitable for the operators.

Now I realize something, my battery was empty. The space outside right by the stream that runs through the town is a 10/10 for the great scenery, but the operators can't do anything about it. (That's the reason for the 2 star) Now to eat, as hungry as I was, I had to have a knuckle, my girlfriend had a schnitzel. Inside, the knuckle was cold and the crust was subpar, the schnitzel was more like Eismann brand, the fries were cold and tasted more frozen than freshly fried. Conclusion, make up your own mind, you can drink a beer well, if you want to eat something you should go to other places. Only cash payment is accepted

Nice restaurant in a central location of the tourist hotspot. Had a mustard schnitzel for just under 21 euros. Unfortunately, the side salad was kind of mini. 1 slice of tomato, 1 slice of cucumber, some lettuce and corn. Otherwise the schnitzel was fine.

Owner unfortunately absolutely intolerant and rude. I really feel sorry for anyone who didn't read the reviews of this place before visiting and ended up here without knowing.

The restaurant is ideally located on the market square in the old town of Monschau. It goes without saying that you can't block a table here for several hours with a glass of Cola. Unfortunately, not much was right during our visit. Drinks without ice, until the mayonnaise was added to the fries it took three attempts and a good 10 minutes... the fries weren't necessarily a hit either... it all took an extremely long time even though it was clear. I hope that these are just a few kinks, as the operators are probably new and generally likeable. It simply doesn't do the location justice, and so it's a bit of a shame. Cash-only payments will no longer be possible in 2024.

Niet doen!!!!! Nog nooit zo slecht gegeten. Steak was doorbakken, puree heel waterig. We durfden het dessert niet af te wachten. Het meest positieve dat ik kan melden is dat we lekker buiten zaten.

Vi bestilte to forskellige wienerschnitzler fra deres menukort og 2 1/2 liter fadøl. Vi fik serveret lunkne øl. Selve wienerschnitzlen var 10 x 6 cm. En meget lille portion salat med icebergsalat, dåsemajs og små skiver agurk. Der var en enkelt meget tynd skive tomat. Kød og pommefritter var tydeligvis taget op af fryseren og i friturekoger. Alt smagte dog ok, men til prisen, så er dette en turistfælde man skal holde sig langt fra. Der er meget bedre spisesteder hos deres naboer.

The whole thing was topped off with the exclusive cash payment; a rogue who thinks evil...

Tourist trickery at its finest! Juicy prices for terribly bad food. The dishes were, at best, from the subway's frozen food department; the lettuce was wilted and the glasses were dirty. Only the waiter tried very hard to save the whole thing.

We wanted to have a coffee in the restaurant and CAFÉ (!!), but when the gentleman came we were told you were only allowed to sit here if you also eat something. We politely declined and left. We sat for a while until someone came, the tables around us only had drinks, since you HAVE to eat something you apparently have to wait a long time for it...

Zondagavond konden we hier nog terecht om 20:00 uur. Nooit meer doen . Schnitzel was taai met een zompige saus overladen. Groentesoep was er niet. Personeel was vriendelijk maar eens maar nooit weer. Niet te kauwen.

The restaurant was recommended to us. My wife and I ordered pizza and beer. We both thought the pizza was pretty tasty and the beer was good. Service was also pretty good, neutrally polite and we were asked a few times if everything was OK. Recommended

Don't know why the reviews are so bad. For us it was a great experience after a nice hike. Had a lovely mozzarella salad, bratwurst, currywurst and mushroom schnitzel. Service was very nice, English speaking, and helpful. Would definitely recommend. Hopefully more people help with getting the rating back to where it belongs

The Stadtkrone is a really nice restaurant, the food is very tasty and the service is not only good but also super friendly. I enjoy eating there and so do my friends who were there with me. I can only recommend eating there when visiting Monschau!

My tip to everyone: reserve a table at one of the good (and always full) restaurants in Monschau. We were too late, so we had to walk around and find a place to eat. This place is over priced, not very clean and the food quality and taste is below average.

The food is small but expensive. The service was unfriendly, the wine was of poor quality but also expensive. At first I only got a carafe of wine, no glass. After 4 minutes I got the glass.

One Sunday evening out of season we were very happy to find a restaurant open. So we didn't read the reviews. Fortunately. We ate well (quite standard value for money apart from the glass of water which we found expensive but I don't know if in Germany you can get a free carafe of water). The waiter was completely friendly and did his best with my basic German by adding a little English. The restaurant was clean. In short, I really don't understand the criticism. The fact that you can't pay with a card and I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere is actually the only valid criticism. But there is a vending machine nearby and they didn't put any pressure on us... we had time to finish our dish in peace... I won't comment on the atmosphere since it was a Sunday evening in February it's normal that there are no crowds but I repeat: the staff was completely friendly and did everything to make us feel good.

Wir waren heute Vorort im Restaurant, und wir können das Restaurant jedem nur weiterempfehlen Steak und Schnitzel waren super lecker der Besitzer war sehr sympathisch alles war einfach fantastisch wenn wir 100 Sterne geben könnten würden wir es machen es hat uns sehr geschmeckt lg

Kulinarische KATASTROPHE Wir wurden von der Bedienung sehr nett empfangen. Der Tisch war aber nicht sauber, es klebte, und man sah alte Ringe von Gläsern, und die Tischdecke war auch befleckt. Die Bedienung merkte wohl, dass ich darauf guckte und mit der Hand darauf klebte, also wurde der Tisch vor uns abgewaschen und netterweise auch das Deckchen ausgetauscht. Wir haben Schnitzel gegessen, ich mit einer „Senfrahmsauce“. Die Senfrahmsoße war eine Senf Pampe, die aufs Schnitzel geschmiert worden war wie auf ein Butterbrot. Dazu gab es dann zwei Salatblätter, eine Scheibe Gurke, ein Viertel einer Tomate und einen halben Zwiebelring mit einer undefinierbar Sauce. Das Schnitzel und die Fritten waren aus der Pappdose in die Fritteuse geworfen und schmeckten überhaupt nicht. Den „Salat“ haben wir gar nicht angerührt, das ganze wirkte äußerst dubios. Fazit: Dieser Laden wirkt alles andere als vertrauenserweckend, kann man nur einen Riesenbogen drum machen.

Als Ausflugslokal okay. Currywurst und Cordon Bleu waren recht lecker. Service so lala, wir wurden direkt darauf aufmerksam gemacht das drei Gerichte nicht bestellbar sind. Mayo und Ketchup wurden bei der Bestellung vergessen. Unser Hund wurde aber lieb mit Leckerli versorgt. Im Jahr 2023 nur Barzahlung zu akzeptieren riecht nach Steuererhinterziehung. Um uns herum mussten drei Tische noch einen Spurt zum Geldautomaten einlegen, wir leider auch. Das ist wirklich nicht akzeptabel.

Toen we binnen kwamen werden door 2 zeer vriendelijke heren ontvangen. We hebben beide een drankje besteld en gezegd dat we het rustig aan wilde doen en dat was oke. Toen zijn we de review gaan lezen. We schrokken hier erg van. Maar achteraf goed dat we gebleven zijn, er klopt totaal niets van deze reviews. Mensen zijn erg vriendelijk, bediening erg goed. Sfeer is goed, goede achtergrondmuziek, het eten is prima en alles is schoon! Dus ik snap niks van de negatieve reviews.

Waren heute zum Abendessen in diesem Lokal und den letzen freien Tisch bekommen. Haben Lachs mit Bratkartoffeln und Salat bestellt. Die Wartezeit war angemessen, das Essen absolut lecker, der Lachs perfekt gebraten. Wir können die teils schlechten Bewertungen nicht verstehen und empfehlen das Lokal auch für den netten Service. Ich kann die negativen Bewertungen ganz und gar nicht nachvollziehen. Wir sind heute sehr freundlich mit unserem kleinen Hund empfangen worden .... Wir hatten Steak und Schnitzel . Die Änderung von Pommes auf Bratkartoffeln war problemlos möglich. Uns hat es gut geschmeckt. Die Gerichte sind einfach und schmackhaft, entsprechend dem Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Die Location selbst ist entsprechend dem ganzen Ort historisch und sehr gemütlich. Die Toiletten sind modern und sehr sauber . Ein wenig Zeit sollte man schon haben ,denn gutes braucht etwas Zeit. Alles in allem empfehlenswert...

Nettes Lokal inmitten der Altstadt von Monschau mit einer jungen, aber sehr engagierten Servicecrew. Es war kein Problem nur etwas zu trinken und die Getränke wurden schnell und kühl geliefert. Anmerkung: Die Cola Light steht nicht auf der Karte und wurde ohne Eis serviert. Sollte Eis gewünscht sein, bitte entsprechend mitbestellen.

Het was erg druk in de omgeving en hier hadden ze nog plek. Achteraf snapten wij waarom. Bij binnenkomst al niet een heel goed gevoel. Kille sfeer binnen. Erg stil. Het is redelijk donker binnen, met een paar lampen, waarvan het lijkt alsof er al een tijdje niet schoongemaakt is. De voorraden olie staan in het restaurant, dus je krijgt het gevoel in een magazijn te zitten. Het eten is ok. Wij hadden o.a. schnitzel met patat die goed gebakken was. De patat was aan de zachte kant. De apfelstrudel zag er wel wat rommelig uit, maar qua smaak prima. De frisdrank die we besteld hadden, was lauw. Dit was toch wel teleurstellend. Je kon er alleen contant betalen. Er werd een beetje vreemd gedaan bij de betaling. De rekening was ongeveer €120. Wij gaven per ongeluk meer, omdat we het niet goed verstonden, maar er werd ook niet even gezegd dat we wisselgeld terug zouden krijgen. Gelukkig medereiziger meegekeken en het alsnog teruggevraagd.

Absolute Empfehlung! Wir hatten ein Rumpsteak und Lachsfilet, jeweils mit Bratkartoffeln. Beides war sehr lecker, zu einem fairen Preis. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Salatbuffet reichhaltig und frisch. Die Location ist standesgemäß rustikal. Die Toiletten sind sauber und neu.
