Restaurant Stadtkrone in Monschau

We had no idea we'd find Spanish people in this small town. Mo (waiter) and Joaquín (cook) were incredibly kind to us. We arrived a little late for dinner, and they served us without any problems. We chatted about many anecdotes and stories about Monschau, and they recommended many places to see in the surrounding area. We'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for everything, guys! 🙂

Don't go there! The host was unprofessional, staring at my girlfriend's clothes and addressing me as if I were his best friend. There was no teamwork in the service, and no communication between staff. We asked for one shared appetizer, but we received both the appetizer and the main course together. Furthermore, the pasta wasn't fresh as advertised. We waited a long time for a request to the waiter, such as a salt and pepper set, forgot the white wine, and asked twice for an ashtray.

Our waiter, Mo, was very pleasant. He created a great atmosphere, and the food and drinks were delicious.

We were the only ones told that only food was allowed at the table. The other tables outside didn't really have food on them, and strangely enough, the place was almost empty afterward. Interesting concept... Schnitzel might have been better at the snack bar.

This is our second time here and we were absolutely thrilled. The ambiance is very inviting, the food is excellent, and the service is extremely attentive and friendly. The prices are absolutely fair. The outdoor seating is particularly lovely – ideal for relaxing under umbrellas. There's even a water bowl for dogs, which we really appreciated. We'd definitely come back!

Nice place in the middle of the center on the market, super friendly staff and delicious food in portions that are just right in terms of price / quality. Several times questions have been answered and solved immediately. Definitely recommended.

Nice climate, good food and service

We wanted to eat there. But when the unfriendly waiter brought the menu, that plan quickly vanished. The tattered pages on a cheap clipboard were supposed to be the menu. What's more, there were still food scraps stuck to the first page. Yuck!!! The health department needs to get involved.

PEOPLE, DON'T GO HERE! Really terrible. The worst restaurant we have ever eaten at. Salad with chicken looked awful. A few small burnt pieces of chicken on lettuce with dressing from a bottle. What a disaster. And currywurst with cold curry from a bottle with some fried onions from a jar. A tiny bit of lettuce with it. Fries were limp and lukewarm. Bad service by a young lady. A chef who can't cook and an owner who really doesn't understand anything. Too bad I didn't read the other reviews beforehand.

We were charmingly looked after and our drinks and food were served quickly. The schnitzel with pepper sauce and the hunter's schnitzel are highly recommended. We'd be happy to return.

Six of us went to the Stadtkrone restaurant last night and were honestly shocked! The waiter didn't seem to be on his best, and his work was accordingly... terrible! He missed every order, had to be reminded, and of course, forgot the bill. At least the seating was good, and we will definitely NOT be coming back!

We spent a wonderful day in Monschau. We had lunch at the Stadtkrone. Beautiful location, friendly service, and very good food at fair prices. Plus, there's a shady spot right outside. What more could you want? We'd happily recommend this restaurant.

Had a very nice meal with ambience

We were on vacation in Monschau. For dinner, we chose a place on the market square, at the Restaurant Stadtkrone Monschau. We both chose the pepper cream schnitzel. Special requests were no problem at all and were happily accommodated. My boyfriend didn't want any salad on his plate, and I was immediately asked if I could have a little extra. He only got a butterfly as a nice decoration. I chose fried potatoes instead of fries. Fried potatoes and fries with the skin on – it makes the taste much better. The service was perfect. The food was very tasty, fresh, and beautifully presented. There were chair cushions outside, and, as is common in city centers, the seating arrangements of the various restaurants and cafés were arranged in rows. We were very satisfied!

Goulash soup without meat - tourist trap!!

This is the only place in this city where they truly understand what good service means. The waiters are extremely polite and attentive. In contrast, our impression of the other restaurants in the square was unfortunately disappointing – they treated us with rudeness or disinterest, as if they had no time for us and were preoccupied with their own problems.

We sat outside on the market square. The setting is fantastic! The fries were also very tasty. The currywurst was a very good bratwurst, but it was served with very little curry ketchup and a ton of fried onions. The cheese spaetzle were too soggy for my taste. The service was very friendly and quick.

Schmutzige Fensterbänke und Tischdecken waren das erste Anzeichen auf das was uns erwartete . Eine FREUNDLICHE Bedienung war das einzige positive bei unserem Aufenthalt. Das servierte Essen war von minderer Qualität, lieblos auf kalten Tellern angerichtet. Und ganz sicher NICHT FRISCH ZUBEREITET. Ihr schönes Lokal hätte eine regelmäßige Reinigung ( auch hinter dem Toilettendeckel ) verdient. Sauberes Besteck und Gläser sowie warme Teller könnten es schon ein bisschen besser machen. Und vielleicht nur einige Gerichte anbieten dafür aber frisch zubereitet und von guter Qualität. Die Zeiten der Touristen Abzocke sollten langsam vorbei sein .

What a find. This cozy little restaurant near the market serves delicious food in generous servings, and has attentive wait staff. We had the chance to dine here twice, and each time we were received with such warm hospitality. The Spanish gambas is noteworthy.. rich, piping hot, and oozing with flavor. Generous and delicious ! The coffee and hot chocolate are great, too! And your table comes with a nice view. Total value for money. What’s not to like ?

One star for entertainment value, because we've never had such a bad restaurant experience that we could only manage to survive the visit with humor. The spaetzle with beef goulash was the worst thing I've eaten in a restaurant in decades: Both the spaetzle and the goulash were clearly convenience foods, and that's how they tasted, too. It had virtually nothing in common with real spaetzle, and the goulash was at best like canned food, and even within that category, it was on the lower end of the quality spectrum. You have to be able to do that! My friend had spaghetti topped with pureed tomatoes. No onions, no garlic, no spices, no herbs, nothing at all. It was a culinary experience à la a teenager trying to cook for the first time. How they managed to serve all the soft drinks without carbonation is still the subject of wild speculation in our tour group.

Unfortunately, first time in Monschau, very nice city but very disappointed with food in Stadtkrone. Beef goulash had no beef in it and looked like canned food. Simply terrible.

Today for the first time Gambas all you can eat in the Stadtkrone Monschau, it was just amazing. Excellent, kind and attentive service. Here the boss still takes care of things personally 🦾

The restaurant is beautifully located in Monschau, right on the market square. The service was friendly, but unfortunately the food is not recommended. We ordered schnitzel with mustard sauce. The schnitzel came out of the deep fryer, the sauce was a thick mess, but the fries were okay. Unfortunately the glasses were also dirty.

Eating is absolutely not recommended! Spaetzle with goulash was ordered... it's a shame to call it that. It was more like spaetzle with canned goulash!

Today we were there for the second time as we were on vacation for a few days. We were very excited again!!! Great boss and great service!!! The food was very good and the price was right!!! We can only recommend it!!!! If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back!!! TOP!!!

After our arrival in Monschau we wanted to go out for a leisurely meal, unfortunately many restaurants are closed after 6 p.m. The waitress didn't speak any German, but she understood us but unfortunately didn't point out that card payments weren't possible. The portions were manageable and nothing for those very hungry. We had the impression that our food was mainly prepared with the deep fryer. We cannot recommend this restaurant.

Simple tourist hut. Language of instruction Spanish. Very limited lunch menu. Simple vegetable soup, lean goulash soup, schnitzel (prefab) and salty fries.

Unfortunately only TWO stars... There was a mini-mini dollop of mustard with the bratwurst. Demand for more mustard - the plate was brought back into the kitchen and the blob was expanded infinitesimally. The looks from the kitchen were rather offended. The dressing on the salad was very salty...

Have been there many times and always had a good feeling. The service is really great and nice. See you next time
