HORRIBLE ! It can happen that a meal is bad, but when a polite request ends in an unbelievable rude statement of the waitress and the menace to call the police I can only warn to enter this establishment. I recommend to walk a few steps further and enjoy a visit at Horchem’s Restaurant.

Food is ok, but service is very slow. And they charge you extra if you are replacing a side dish from one to another which is ridiculous

Delicious food you have to order in advance...so you can get a seat in the evening...

Nachdem wir in einem Restaurant zum Mittagessen sehr enttäuscht wurden, sind wir am Abend in das Restaurant Alter Markt in der Nähe des "Roten Haus" gegangen. Schon beim betreten des Restaurnts wurden wir sehr freundlich vom Personal empfangen und bekamen den einzigen freihen Tisch .(Reservierung dringend empholen) Der Chef bedient höchstpersönlich zusammen mit seinem unglaublich aufmerksamen Team ,wobei man merkt das Arbeitsklima einfach nur super ist Alles was da auf den Tisch kommt ist super frisch und vo toller Qualität,die Preise sind fair. Vor allem die exellente Sauberkeit( Sobald die Gäste den Tisch verlassen haben ,wird nach den Abräumen der Tisch desinfiziert.) Wir können das Restaurant nur emphelen. Ich möchte noch Hinzufügen das ich von Beruf Küchenmeister bin,und somit eine ehrliche Bewertung abgebe. Wir wünschen Abbas und seinem Team weiterhin viel Erfolg

Very nice staff. The food was delicious both times (vegan tarte flambée and vegan schnitzel with Balkan sauce). Extremely tasty. Requests are addressed immediately. Cozy atmosphere. You feel very comfortable.

Luckily we were able to reserve a table for lunch and dinner. In Monschau it makes sense to think about the food in advance and then reserve a table. We had a Champion Rahmschnitzel, the food came very quickly. The champions were seasoned with a bit of lavash, and it was also tasty with some additional seasoning. The service was very friendly and helpful. Reserve the Old Market and eat with a good price/performance ratio.

We had made a reservation for 9 people. Evening started well, but ended very miserably badly. Ordered schnitzel 9 times, but 3 arrived late and cold. We neatly passed this on to the waiter. But there was nothing they could do about it...it was busy.... Then reported it to the owner....the response was, you should have reported this immediately. Very unfortunate... The drinks didn't go well either. We gave our order to the waiter again 3 times. Because he kept forgetting what we had ordered, but also seemed to have forgotten that we were still waiting for our drink. Ultimately, after placing the order for the fourth time, we were still served drinks... but unfortunately this was not correct. All in all very unfortunate. Because it is a beautiful location, it seems like a nice setting and atmosphere, but the service is far below par.

Nice nice male employee. Unfortunately we were not served at the same time, 3 people had to wait 20 minutes longer, when the dish arrived it turned out to be cold. Reported immediately, but there was no adequate response. There is no arguing about taste, but I found the schnitzels to be unseasonable and very bland. Ordered drinks were only delivered after reordering 3 times. Not worth repeating.

Das Restaurant liegt im Herzen von Monschau. Wir hatten noch draußen einen Platz bekommen und konnte somit die Aussicht auf Monschau genießen. Die Speisekarte ist gutbürgerlich. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war schnell zubereitet. Die Portionen sind eher etwas klein anzusehen und führen etwas zur Abwertung.

The staff was really friendly! The food was good too, and there are vegetarian options! Only the dessert (Monschauer Dütchen with hot cherries) was overwhelmingly sweet. Overall, good experience, nice restaurant to end your day.

We were here yesterday with the whole family. Really everyone in our 3 generation family was thrilled with the food. But what we have to highlight most is the waitress (Melanie). Even though they didn't have that much space, they made it possible for us to reserve a place for 9 people. If we are in Monschau again, we will definitely come here again. Everything was very good, great service, good atmosphere

Very noisy restaurant, high-priced tourist rip-off. The most expensive espresso at 3.90 and a miserable taste, ketchup for the schnitzel (17.90) costs an extra 1 euro, salad dressing that burns on the tongue. 0.5 l Bitburger for 5.90 euros. Friendly service, but not recommended for this rip-off.

Thank God we got a table without a reservation, which is definitely recommended here. Schnitzels were good. Unfortunately, cash payment is only possible here, as is the case in almost every restaurant etc. in this town. It is probably an agreement that cannot be understood today.

Rustige achtergrondmuziek die niet overheersend was. Een redelijk gezellig omgeving. Een flinke kom met 'Salat' die waarschijnlijk al iets ouder was, maar wel smaakte. Verder een goede Schnitzel met saus. Een glas Weizen bier voor €4,50 was stevig geprijsd

We both had schnitzel with fries and salad, mustard and pepper cream. We were both rather disappointed for the price. Employees were friendly and quick. Wouldn't come again.

Not good. Dear. My wife and my son were served 45 minutes after my daughter and me. Forgot an order. Wrong addition. Don't take the credit card. Serve an adult dish to a child and charge him a full price. My wife had a salmon/shrimp flamechuche served without salmon. Anyway...We won't be coming back. Parmesan and mayo charged extra.

Very good time spent at 8 in this restaurant. Luckily we had a reservation! Copious and tasty dishes for excellent value for money. Smiling and very friendly service. We highly recommend!

Very good restaurant in the center of Monschau. We had Monschau mustard soup, Monschau mustard schnitzel and tarte flambée. Everything was very freshly prepared on site, so you have to allow a little time for the meal, but it's worth it! The staff is very friendly and the price-performance ratio is definitely very good.

We were kindly received. We were allowed to sit inside with our dog (who was given a bowl of water). Order arrived quickly. Delicious Wiener schnitzels with fries. Only pay by contact, but the ATM is almost wrong.

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner in the evening. The service was very friendly and the food was great The vegan alternatives particularly caught our eye as we didn't find anything else like them in Monschau. The restaurant is highly recommended! The only thing that can be improved is card payment ;) next time :)

Ondanks de beoordelingen toch geprobeerd. Het was een volle bak maar er was toch plek. Typisch Duitse kaart. Veel schnitzelkeuze. Snelle bediening en goede salade naast de schnitzel. Veel frites erbij en een leuke prijs.

We had the mustard soup first and then schnitzel with salad and fries. It was really tasty, the soup in particular was very good. Really recommended

The place, personel and service was nice but don't take the pasta with pesto. It is literally a plate of pasta with a spoon of pesto and a lot of olive oil. It was tasteless and totally not worth 15 euro's.

We ate very well here. I had salmon in mustard sauce and my wife had chicken schnitzel with hollandaise sauce. Both dishes were excellent and the service was very nice.

We had a spontaneous meal here yesterday. The first plus point was the reviews online and the vegan options that are already at the door (vegan tarte flambée and two other options.) At first glance, the restaurant seems a bit “old-fashioned German”, but the young, very friendly staff makes the impression better right up. Otherwise very good, nice service, delicious drinks and a good selection of food, the mustard sauce is recommended. Payment only in cash, but there is a machine right next to the entrance.

Stopped here today after our hike because the sign with the vegan tarte flambée spoke to me directly. In Monschau I had almost finished trying to find a restaurant somewhere where you could get vegan dishes without having to ask complicated questions. I basically liked the vegan tarte flambée, but it could have been seasoned a little more strongly. But as I said, it was still very tasty and is now a complaint on a very high level. I found the service at our table to be very friendly and served us promptly. So in my opinion I can only give it full marks.

Quality + tasty schnitzel at correct price can be found there! The portions are big, the atmosphere is nice and the service is good and rapid. I really enjoyed eating at that restaurant 😊

Delicious vegan schnitzel and very nice staff.

Aussenwirkung ist besser als innen. Einen Aufpreis von 3.50 €, wenn man anstatt Pommes gerne Bratkartoffeln hätte und vice versa (vorher angekündigt, aber nicht bestellt), ist nicht nachvollziehbar. Somit würde ein einfaches Austauschen auf den Tellern satte 7 € kosten. Auch ein Aufpreis (welcher nicht angekündigt war) von Mayonnaise und Ketchup von 1 € ist unverschämt. Der Salat leider nicht wirklich frisch (Mais, Krautsalat, Rotkohl und Spuren von Eisbergsalat). Ansonsten waren die Portionen ok. 6.50 € für 0.5 l Eifeler Landbier ist teuer. Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis stimmt leider nicht.

External appearance is better than internal. An additional charge of €3.50 if you would like fried potatoes instead of fries and vice versa (announced beforehand but not ordered) is incomprehensible. So a simple replacement on the plates would cost a whopping €7. An additional charge of €1 for mayonnaise and ketchup (which was not announced) is also outrageous. Unfortunately the salad wasn't really fresh (corn, coleslaw, red cabbage and traces of iceberg lettuce). Otherwise the portions were ok. €6.50 for 0.5 liters of Eifeler Landbier is expensive. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right.

Some of them are a bit expensive. E.g. portion of ketchup or mayonnaise 1,-, Eifel beer 3.90 for 0.3L or cup of tea 3.20 spoils the pleasure a bit. Service attentive and polite and the schnitzels were homemade including the mushroom sauce, no frozen goods or anything like that. That was really good for 20,-

The staff was very friendly. We came in on a Friday evening around 19.45u and it was fully booked. We asked if we could wait at the bar until a table would come free. They really want to offer us a table and said we could wait and would ask the guests who reserved a table if we could join at there table. At 20u we could share a table for six with another couple. If I had to name one negative thing is that the price quality was out of proportion. The dishes were on the high and nothing special. I ordered the falafel and in stead of salad with fried I asked for broccoli or vegetables. I got 5 falafels (homemade) with a hand full of cooked broccoli nothing more I paid €21 for this dish.

The food is correct. You can't expect great quality but quantity makes up for it. I think the price is slightly high for what it offers but it is not over the top either. The problem is that in a place like this, where tourism makes a living, they don't make it easy for you if you don't speak German. Just enough English to relate to, but they don't help you at all with the letter, so if you don't use translate you order blindly. And another big mistake is that you cannot pay with a card and there is no sign or sign that warns you beforehand, only at the time of paying.

Warm atmosphere, the waitress is smiling, welcoming and speaks French well, simple, very good cuisine and fast service. Monschau mustard sauce is a real delight! We recommend!

I was here for the first time with my father. The man with the “Thug Life” hat and glasses is super friendly, so humorous and helpful. Salad: OK, watery The beer: is great, my dad likes it Chicken: really good with the sauce, well cooked I love the mushrooms and the fried potatoes Dry waffle: just a spoon, no knife? Lava cake: without crokant would be better

Very cozy restaurant and very tasty food. Also super friendly staff! You have to pay in cash here, but that is the case in 99% of the cases in Monschau.

My wife and I only enjoyed a long aperitif on the terrace, so unfortunately I can't say anything about the food. The selection of drinks is really wonderful, especially when it comes to beers! The service is friendly and, above all, authentically zealous. We will be back!

Flamkuchen are not freshly made (frozen) and way too expensive. Schnitzels are okay but very small. What is also not friendly is that if you want boiled potatoes instead of fries, you have to pay €3 more for it, while fries are listed for €5.50=weird! Only cash payments which is very annoying.

The food was delicious, yes! Unfortunately, the taste of the schnitzel was like it wasn't hand-breaded, so the breading had a somewhat bland taste. The owner assured me, as you can read below, that it was very fresh and hand-breaded. It still wasn't entirely my taste, but I'm just one of many. I would always come here again for a beer or a steak. It's a quaint pub with very nice staff...

We stopped in around 15.00 on a Saturday, there were two open tables, but were denied when we said we only wanted to have a drink. We were not even allowed to sit at the bar, which had seats and completely empty. Have to give a neutral 3 stars… unable to rate the food, but worth knowing that in this restaurant you may only be served if you intend to eat.

Ligt in een van de wat rustigere straatjes bij de kerk. Persoonlijk vonden wij de sfeer van askleding niet supergezellig maar wel okee. Het personeel was vriendelijk en het eten (biefstuk en een schnitzel) was prima: het heeft goed gesmaakt! Goed om te weten: je kunt alleen contant betalen!

Das Essen ist Top, die Portionen klasse und der Service uneingeschränkt offen und sehr aufmerksam . Trotz vollem Restaurant , sehr schnell bedient worden und sehr herzlichst willkommen aufgenommen worden . Das wird nicht das letzte mal gewesen sein ! Vielen lieben Dank . Wir waren heute als Touristen unterwegs und sind hier sehr herzlich willkommen gewesen. Haben einen heiten Spaß gehabt. Das Personal hat uns trotz unserer heiter und lauten Art und Weise sehr herzlich behandelt. Die anderen Besucher, waren unserer Meinung nach gut unterhalten. Freuen uns schon jetzt auf den nächsten Besuch.

Wir waren heute Abend im Restaurant essen und waren rundum zufrieden. Das Essen war super lecker und die zwei Damen vom Service waren, trotz vollem Restaurant, zuvorkommend, flink und super nett. Könnte man mehr Sterne für den Service geben, würden wir das uneingeschränkt tun. Das Restaurant kann man nur empfehlen. Wir kommen wieder.

Wir waren mit sechs Personen und einem Kleinkind zum Abendessen dort. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und an unseren reservierten Tisch geführt. Nach angemessener Zeit kam dann unser Essen. Wir hatten deimal Lachs in Senfsauce und dreimal Schnitzel mit Champignonrahmsauce. Vorweg, ich bin ein großer Schnitzelfan. Ich habe seit Jahren nicht mehr ein so gutes Schnitzel gegessen. Perfekt gebraten und gewürzt, die Sauce perfekt abgeschmeckt. Dazu gab es sehr leckere Pommes. Die Lachsgerichte standen dem in nichts nach. Preislich absolut in Ordnung. Sehr freundliches Personal. Nun das weniger Schöne....das Ambiente. Da ist noch viel Potential nach oben. Nach Auskunft des Chefs werde in den nächsten Monaten mit der (Kern-) Renovierung begonnen. Aufgrund des phantastischen Essens erfolgt aber kein Punktabzug. Beim nächsten Besuch in Monschau definitiv unsere ersten Adresse zum Essen.
