Unfortunately you can't give more stars... As always, nice, loving and concerned about the guests. A table was made possible even though it was fully booked. Telephone contact for reservations, really great. It feels like coming home. Despite the "full hut" there was a warm welcome, escort to the table, advice on drinks... I don't even know what to write down. The food... completely different. As a sauerbraten. Cool. As a menu with an intermediate course and dessert. I don't know the last time I was so full. It was so delicious that we ate it all. Guys, go, but leave us a spot because we'll be back! Home... Kind regards to the team and have a great time. Super friendly, recommended dessert instead of cake. That's exactly how it should be! Perfect and delicious. Thanks.

Connoisseurs will be happy here: fresh ingredients combined with such sophistication to create wonderful dishes. Top service: even special requests are creatively implemented. Apperetiv menu is seasonally adapted and includes great non-alcoholic drinks, the atmosphere is cozy, we have been there several times and always go home happy and satisfied. Great hosts!

We are disappointed with the way the “boss” deals with legitimate criticism. We arrived at 6pm and had reserved a table for two. There was a drinks menu at the beginning. After we chose a drink, in this case Leffe dark, we were handed the menu after 45 minutes, i.e. at 6:45 p.m. The menu offers a tasting menu with matching wines for a small additional charge. That would all be wonderful, but since as a guest you don't get this information beforehand - the "boss" said when we asked why the guests weren't informed about it beforehand so that the guests could take the chance to make an appropriate decision: "That The house's instructions are that the employees only hand out the menu to the guests later." That would have been ok for us too, we already had a drink anyway. Nevertheless, with the information about this we might have made a different decision. The starter was then very tasty. Afterwards it took until 8:20 p.m. until we received our main course - after repeated requests. Reason: The food was freshly cooked and further reason that we had changed our mind and reordered. As a background, you have to know that sous vide cooked goose was on the tasting menu, but there was also venison as an addition, which was not on the menu. The goose was then completely dry and had nothing to do with what was actually supposed to be offered to the guest. Afterwards, instead of an apology (boss: "I can't do more than apologize and I'll do some research in the kitchen..."), she made an accusation: "... you changed the order again..." One A simple, honest apology for the delay and the extremely dry goose would have been more than enough. By the way, people in the kitchen knew about the failed goose, but gave it out anyway. What a disaster of poor communication. Conclusion: Something can always go wrong and nobody is perfect, but in my opinion at least the communication should be good. It's a shame that didn't work out. Oh, the venison dish was very good by the way. However, the communication with the “boss” really annoyed us.

Das Schnabuleum, etwas abseits des Monschauer Zentrums gelegen, versprach laut Bewertungen eine gehobene, regionale Küche mit einem Hauch von Raffinesse. Leider konnte das Restaurant diese Erwartungen nicht erfüllen. Das Degustationsmenü klang auf dem Papier spannend, aber in der Ausführung überwogen die Schwächen. Das Carpaccio mit Senfsauce und Balsamico-Creme war unangenehm süß, ebenso wie die Kürbissuppe, die als Ersatzgang serviert wurde. Auch wenn die Präsentation elegant war, überwogen Geschmacksschwächen und ein Mangel an Balance in den Gerichten. Das Hauptgericht, ein Iberico-Schweinkrüstchen mit cremigem Wirsing und Kartoffelgratin, war solide und eindeutig der Höhepunkt des Abends, doch selbst dies rechtfertigte den gehobenen Preis nicht. Besonders enttäuschend war die Atmosphäre. Die grelle Beleuchtung war alles andere als einladend und zerstörte die Möglichkeit, den Abend in gemütlicher Stimmung zu genießen. Für ein Restaurant, das sich als gehoben präsentiert, war dies eine ärgerliche Schwäche. Der Service war freundlich und die Online-Buchung unkompliziert, aber das allein reicht nicht aus, um über den hohen Preis und die fehlende stimmige Erfahrung hinwegzusehen. Schnabuleum ist für uns kein zweiter Besuch wert.

We were a nice bunch and made reservations for 8 people. A nice atmosphere, no question. After looking at the card I thought some joker had torn out the second page. Not at all. A very manageable map. Starters, entrees, main courses and desserts fit on one menu. I stopped spitting when the menu said 6.90 for a 0.5l juice spritzer, regardless of the flavor (apple, mango, rhubarb, etc.). Half a beer is significantly cheaper. In comparison, 0.75 liters of water just managed to be cheaper than alcoholic drinks. The water is served in a great bottle, but this is not served in an "unopened" bottle but with a cork on it. A rogue who thinks evil of it. Why not a sealed bottle with a label as required? Since we had a large table, people looked puzzled when we didn't all order a menu. This is mandatory with such a large group. Otherwise the kitchen will get off track. The customer is (almost) king and the boss once again exercised mercy under restaurant law. Those who “only” ordered a main course received it after a whopping 2 1/2 hours (does that qualify as “slow food”?). This is completely unacceptable. When we had all finally finished eating, the waitress gave us each a small spoon and a small fork. Should this be the cutlery for a little apology from the kitchen for the long waits? Far from it. The waitress probably didn't know who was ordering a dessert and simply put dessert cutlery in front of everyone. We would still wait today for a “sorry” and perhaps an espresso as a little compensation. Not a bit of self-criticism from the boss, on the contrary, she tried to put a nice spin on a main course delivery that wasn't quite right. Stressed with artificial instead of warm kindness. The food was very tasty, which is a given in this price category. With just the main course and drink you won't be spending less than 40 euros, with the menu (but the portions are smaller than those ordered individually) it won't be less than 70 euros per person. And being full while snorting just one main dish is overrated these days anyway :-) And beyond that, payment for 4 people is only possible as a total invoice. As mentioned above, as a guest you are (almost) king. Food good, atmosphere very nice, the rest has a lot of room for improvement. And that's why it was a unique visit for me and for us. Conclusion: Nice atmosphere, expensive, with a manageable menu. Would I recommend the restaurant to friends? NO !!

Wir waren eine nette Truppe und reservierten für 8 Personen. Ein schönes Ambiente, keine Frage. Nach dem Blick auf die Karte dachte ich, so ein Scherzkeks hat die zweite Seite herausgerissen. Mitnichten. Eine sehr überschaubare Karte. Vorspeisen, Zwischengang, Hauptspeisen und Desserts passten auf eine Karte. Die Spucke blieb mir weg, als in der Karte für ein Saftschorle 0,5l, egal welche Geschmacksrichtung (Apfel, Mango, Rhabarber etc.) 6.90 aufgerufen wurde. Die halbe Bier ist deutlich billiger. 0,75 l Wasser schaffte es im Vergleich gerade noch, billiger zu sein als alkoholische Getränke. Das Wasser wird in einer tollen Flasche serviert, dieses wird aber nicht in einer "ungeöffneten" Flasche serviert sondern mit einem Korken drauf. Ein Schelm wer Böses dabei denkt. Warum nicht eine verschlossene Flasche mit Etikett so wie es eigentlich vorgeschrieben ist? Da wir einen großen Tisch hatten, schaute man verblüfft, als wir nicht alle eine Menü bestellten. Das sei obligat bei einer derartig großen Gruppe. Sonst kommt die Küche aus der Spur. Der Kunde ist (fast) König und die Chefin ließ nochmal Gnade vor Restaurantrecht walten. Diejenigen, die "nur" ein Hauptgericht bestellten, erhielten dies nach sage und schreibe 2 1/2 Stunden (läuft das unter "slow food"?). Das ist gänzlich inakzeptabel. Als wir alle dann endlich fertig diniert hatten, legte uns die Bedienung jedem einen kleinen Löffel und eine kleine Gabel hin. Sollte dies das Besteck für eine kleine Entschuldigung aus der Küche sein für die langen Wartzeiten? Weit gefehlt. Die Bedienung wusste wohl nicht, wer ein Dessert bestellte und legte einfach allen ein Dessertbesteck hin. Auf ein "tut mir Leid" und vielleicht einen Espresso als kleine Wiedergutmachung würden wir heute noch warten. Kein bisschen Selbstkritik der Chefin, im Gegenteil, sie versuchte eine nicht ganz passende Hauptgerichtlieferung schön zu reden. Gestresst mit künstlicher statt herzlicher Freundlichkeit. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft, wobei es in dieser Preiskategorie eine Selbstverständlichkeit ist. Nur mit Hauptgericht und Getränk gehst du nicht unter 40 Euronen raus, mit Menü (da sind die Portionen aber kleiner als einzeln bestellt) nicht unter 70 € pro Person. Und satt zu sein beim Schnabulieren lediglich eines Hauptgerichts wird heute sowieso überbewertet :-) Und darüber hinaus, ist eine Bezahlung über 4 Personen nur als Gesamtrechnung möglich. Wie oben erwähnt, als Gast bis du (fast) König. Essen gut, Ambiente sehr schön, der Rest hat viel Luft nach oben. Und deshalb war es für mich, für uns auch ein einmaliger Besuch.

A high-priced restaurant with a lot of room for improvement. My rating and criticism is based on the level at which the prices are; at this price level, certain things simply cannot happen. The food is basically good, well coordinated plates with creative ideas. Unfortunately, we had a “sous vide” cooked duck at the table twice, which was far from medium rare in terms of cooking point, it was completely cooked through, which was a shame for the product. Anyone who knows the “sous vide” method knows that this method is actually a surefire way to avoid having to cook the meat through. Some reviews criticize the hospitality of the boss, but unfortunately I can only confirm this. The restaurant opens at 2 p.m. Anyone who greets their guests at 1:58 p.m. with the words “we are still closed” should think about the effect of this hospitality. The service was “nice” but that was about it. At this price level there are simply things in the service that HAVE to work. - empty drinks are on the table from start to finish and are not cleared away - reordering drinks only at the guest's initiative - stocking up on new cutlery between courses was a complete disaster - Is it necessary for the waitress to scratch the dog from the neighboring table and then serve food again? (I own a dog myself) The worst thing for us, however, was the waiting time. We spent a whopping 3 hours in the restaurant for three courses of food. The reason given was a lack of staff, but the restaurant wasn't even 50% full. Information in advance pointing out longer waiting times would have been fair, then you can consider whether you should just choose one dish instead of a menu. The three stars are three very, very well-intentioned ones, because for the price quoted here, they definitely don't deliver enough; the only thing that was almost free of defects was the food. We like to eat something more expensive, so we won't visit again, as other restaurants do much better.

Essen Top, Empfang mangelhaft, Service bemüht. Ich hatte kurzfristig für meinen Geburtstag noch einen Tisch bekommen und mich darüber sehr gefreut. Engster Familienkreis und in freudiger Erwartung ging’s ins Restaurant nach Monschau. Beim betreten sahen wir in ein entgeistertes Gesicht, kein Lächeln, keine Freundlichkeit und auch kein „Guten Tag“. Ich gebe zu, unseren kleinen Minidoodle hatte ich vergessen anzugeben. Da wir jedoch noch nie ein Problem mit ihm im Restaurant hatten, habe ich es vergessen. Die erste Frage entfuhr der Dame „ haben Sie reserviert? Als ich dies bejahte verspannte sie sich noch mehr und fragte, haben Sie den Hund angemeldet? Ich entschuldigte mich sofort, dass ich dies vergessen habe und fragte, ob dies ein Problem wäre? Dies wurde verneint ABER es wäre nun ein sehr schöner Tisch eingedeckt, jedoch für den Hund den schlechtesten! Wir sollten nicht auf ihn treten ….. aber sie sind nur zu zweit und deshalb könnte man den für den Hund besseren Tisch nicht zurecht machen…. Dies wurde dann gebetsmühlenartig wiederholt, bis wir dann endlich saßen… kurzum, wir kamen super zurecht und wir hätten niemals auf unseren Hund getreten!! So einen unfreundlichen und umprofessionellen Empfang braucht kein Mensch. Essen war Top in Ordnung. Es gibt jedoch nur eine Minikarte: ein paar Vorspeisen, 2 Fleischgerichte/ 1 Fisch- und 1 Nudelgericht, 2 Nachttische Der Service naja, bemüht aber freundlich. Getränke 2x vergessen, Besteck vergessen obwohl das Essen schon auf dem Tisch stand. Mein Mann wurde bei allen Getränken und Tellern gebeten, die Sachen anzunehmen obwohl hinter ihm komplett frei war, für den Service. Und die Reihenfolge wann Essen und Getränke geht nicht nach Gastwunsch sondern, wann es nach System ab der Reihe ist. Der Nachttisch wurde von hinten mit einem rustikalen lautem „aufgepasst“ serviert. Das erwarte ich in einer Kneipe aber nicht in einem Restaurant dieser Art. Hier sollte mal nachgeschult werden, dann passt der Service zum Essen und zu den Preisen. Ansonsten haben wir aber das beste draus gemacht, drübergeguckt und einen schönen Abend gehabt.

Monschau is a beautiful little town but an absolute diaspora when it comes to cuisine - that is, if you expect more than schnitzel and spaghetti. But not in the Schnabuleum. I think this is by far the best restaurant in town. There were four of us there and we were all equally satisfied. The food was really cleverly prepared with a lot of love and an extensive wine list offers plenty of options to accompany it. Absolute recommendation.

Wir durften einen wunderbaren späten Nachmittag mit köstlichem Essen im Schnabuleum in Monschau verbringen. Das Essen ist wirklich außergewöhnlich - jeder wunderschön angerichtete Teller führte uns auf eine Reise vielfältiger Aromen. Ein Genuß!!! Und auch das Personal war aufmerksam und freundlich. Schön ist auch die Idee der Weinbegleitung im Menü. Die Weine sind mit Bedacht ausgewählt und wunderbar beschrieben. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder!

Was für ein kulinarisches Erlebnis. Erstmal Danke an die 3 überaus freundliche und hilfsbereiten Damen. Das Essen hat alles übertroffen, mit dem wir gerechnet haben. Es war mit Liebe zum Produkt und zum mitessenden Auge serviert. Es gab nichts aber auch gar nichts was man hier noch besser machen könnte. Wir gehen nicht allzu oft essen, wenn dann aber in die schon besseren Lokale. Zuletzt waren wir im Umami by Han und im NOVO New Dining in Maastricht. Ihr braucht euch in keinster Weise hinter diese zu verstecken. Das einzige was uns irritiert hat war das fehlende Schild von Michelin. Das hättet ihr wirklich verdient.

What a culinary experience. First of all, thanks to the 3 extremely friendly and helpful ladies. The food exceeded everything we expected. It was served with love for the product and the eye. There was nothing at all that could be done better here. We don't go out to eat very often, but when we do we go to better places. Most recently we were at Umami by Han and NOVO New Dining in Maastricht. You don't need to hide behind these in any way. The only thing that irritated us was the lack of a Michelin sign. You really deserve that. THANKS

The Schnabuleum restaurant was an obvious choice for us when we visited the city of Monschau. We went there without a reservation, but luckily there was a free table for us. We tried a plate of sea bream and one of pasta. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice. Gladly again.

Excellent food, very good aperitifs, nice ambience, prices absolutely reasonable. It would have been 5 stars if the owner hadn't been completely unprofessional. Not only was she rude to the guests at the next table, but she also repeatedly criticized her employees in front of everyone for small things. I am the managing director myself and was shocked by such behavior - especially since our waitress really tried hard and did a good job.

First of all: A huge thank you to Michael and his team for this great and unforgettable evening! I had a really wonderful birthday. The atmosphere is very cozy. The service was absolutely perfect. With a feel-good factor that is second to none. And the food was just amazing. Each of us chose the menu and so we were able to try almost everything. Very appealingly presented and a taste explosion in the mouth. The vegetarian menu was the one with the most varied taste experiences. Always the right wine with it! I don't know when I've ever eaten something so delicious. An absolute recommendation from us and we will definitely come back!

For our wedding anniversary we chose the Schnabuleum. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere is so incredibly cozy. When it's full it might get a little louder, but that doesn't affect the comfort. The staff is happy and accommodating. You feel wonderfully welcomed. I have no words for the food. So ingenious, delicious and attractively prepared. Always with a hint of mustard flavor. A restaurant for connoisseurs with a cozy atmosphere. Our dishes were beautifully presented and, without exception, prepared with a lot of finesse. In keeping with Monschau, mustard is used very creatively. The wine accompaniment to the menu was harmonious. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy and invites you to linger. The menu is manageable but suited our tastes exactly. There is something for everyone here. The price performance ratio is very good. An absolute tip for friends of good cuisine.

The Schnabuleum restaurant is located just outside the tourist center of Monschau, opposite the famous Monschau mustard mill. Not surprisingly, the chef incorporates this local delicacy into many of his dishes. It has 2 floors with 52 couverts and a terrace in summer. In addition to a tasting menu, the menu also offers individual starters and main courses as well as a separate recommendation menu. The menu really appealed to me and after reading the reviews the choice was made quickly. So we were looking forward to dinner at this, over rated, restaurant. What I particularly liked was the option to book online. I asked beforehand whether our small dogs were welcome and after a personal message from our hostess it turned out that they were also very welcome. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating and helped us with our meal. However, the carpaccio with mustard sauce, rocket and balsamic cream was far too sweet for us and didn't taste as good as expected. The tasting menu I chose consisted of 3 courses, but since I'm not a fan of desserts, I was offered the pumpkin soup as an intermediate course. However, this was again very sweet and unfortunately didn't impress me this time either. The presentation, however, was very nicely done. An atmospheric dark gray plate already contained some of the components of the dish. The soup was poured separately into the plate by our waiter from a cute little jug. The main course was more than okay. I wasn't sure what a "crust" was, but it was a fillet of Iberico pork breaded with panko and cornflakes. A kind of schnitzel. There was also creamy savoy cabbage, a potato gratin with Monschau mustard and a sauce made from honey poppy seeds and mustard. For both of us, this was the best dish of the evening. My husband had the normal 3-course meal including dessert and apart from the beautiful presentation, he really enjoyed it too. By the way, I found the lighting very bright and uncomfortable. Normally I take nice photos, but in this lighting it was very annoying. Hopefully one day they will replace the spots with cozy lamps. That would undoubtedly improve the whole atmosphere. Of course, I shared my comments with our host. After all, you don't use a review to express (constructive) criticism or complaints without discussing this with the restaurant.

We had booked the Thursday evening with a 3-course menu and a guided tour. We were absolutely not disappointed. The tour was relatively short at just over 30 minutes, but to the point. The food was absolutely top class and the portion size was also plentiful. We can only recommend it to everyone. The service was also great, quick and courteous.

Very fine, tasty food at the highest level. Home is celebrated here, great Eifel charm. But creative compositions such as monkfish grilled on tonka beans also have their place. The staff was super friendly and was distinctive. We felt more than comfortable and will come back on our next trip to the beautiful Eifel and especially Monschau! Crazy! We had a 5-course menu with wine accompaniment. The starter consisted of a well-known constellation of components: goat cheese, beetroot, avocado, etc. As well-known as it was, these were placed and seasoned in a new and perfect way. It was so delicious all the way through. The kitchen really knows the craft and cooks to a high standard! I would like to mention separately that it is not a given that so much emphasis was placed on my friend's vegetarian dishes. Often the meat/fish components are simply left out and something is replaced, not in the snout! These were simply great dishes! The service was super attentive and the glass was happily refilled a second and maybe even a third time. All in all great cinema! 5 stars to the kitchen 5-stars for the service 5 stars for the ambience

The Schnabuleum offers really good food at star level. We booked for Mother's Day and were very happy with the menus offered. Only the service can still be worked on. So it makes sense to offer more than one menu for 3 people and 2.5 hours for a 4-course menu is also tough. A special Mother's Day menu was advertised on the homepage without ever being specified. But overall we were very satisfied and would like to try the star menu.

First of all, it was surprising to find such a fine dining experience in a place like Monschau, where all the venues are quite "rustic". We discovered this place by chance when we visited the Mustard Mill with which it shares the same courtyard, and when we learned that it was recommended by Guide Michelin, we decided to try it. First of all, they definitely need more promotion. Normally, it is difficult to make a reservation at restaurants in this segment, especially for special occasions, but perhaps by luck or perhaps partly because it is little known by tourists, we were able to find a seat on Easter day. The menu, the food, the taste, the atmosphere, the flow of service, everything was perfect. Harmony of ingredients and clever combinations... All the dishes were very, very delicious. At the exit, we had a short chat with the lady owner of the place, the service was polite and friendly. This restaurant received full marks from us in every respect.

You can't eat better in the area! We are absolutely amazed by the chef's cooking skills. My wife and I have been there twice now and had the 3-course menu on the first visit and the 4-course menu on the second visit. I can only recommend paying the extra charge for the 4 courses. The additional soup that you then get (for us it was asparagus soup) was the secret favorite. The dishes are imaginatively and creatively put together and prepared first-class. Price/performance is really top in my opinion! A star-level kitchen at an affordable price. In the photos you can see the starter with caramelized salmon, the aforementioned asparagus soup, monkfish with asparagus for the main course and a raspberry dessert. We had a successful anniversary - thank you very much!

The restaurant has a cozy chic vibe. All the dishes are fresh and homemade made. The staff is very friendly and helpful and really want to give you a welcoming feeling. My partner ordered the vegetarian mushroom ravioli (maincourse) and I had the vegan vegetable garden (entree). The prices for both dishes the main dish and entree were €20,-. For an entree it was a little bit on the pricy side I thought. Nevertheless both dishes were flavorful. Because of a little misunderstanding and -communication they thought I ordered a pumpkin ravioli as well. The chef freshly made it and it was totally vegan, we appreciated the trouble so we asked if we could take it to go. The waitress was very kind about this and wrapped it up. I would recommended this place.

I read in the newspaper today that the restaurant now offers top-class cuisine, something we didn't experience before Corona because it was a different chef or restaurant manager. My old review with one star was here for some time, so the new owner was wrongly rated negatively. The restaurant is part of the historic mustard mill.

There was something for every taste, it was extremely tasty and special. The menu changes regularly and you can finally find delicious fish dishes! There is also a choice for vegetarians and vegans. It is a small restaurant hidden next to a beautiful mustard factory. Many of their dishes therefore use this delicious mustard. We were here during Valentine's Day. Small but sufficient menu and day menu. Creative and well put together food creation. Even the starter soup is a little poem. Next time I visit, I won't eat anything beforehand so I can still manage to try some of the desserts. Since I'm not a wine drinker, I can't say anything about the wine selection. The ambience in the location is between rustic wood and new accents in the expansion of the stairs and the seats in the upper area, combined with individual objects and figures in metal, matching the surroundings. The pricing is on the high end, but the food was all worth it. There is an absolute risk of repetition.

Das Restaurant "Schnabuleum" hat uns in jeder Beziehung voll begeistert. Zu erst einmal möchte ich die freundliche, zugewandte Begrüßung und Zuweisung des vorbestellten Tisches erwähnen. Die angebotenen Gerichte waren nicht nur geschmacklich überzeugend, auch deren Präsentation war ein wahrer Augenschmaus. Die Menues wurden zeitnah serviert und der Service war weiterhin freundlich und diskret, wir fühlten uns sehr wohl. Was mich dann letztenendes für das "Schnabuleum" eingenommen hat, war die Tatsache, dass uns, bei einem med.Notfall, der plötzlich, während des Essens, auftrat, ohne zu zögern umfänglich( Rettungsdienst, Notfallmassnahmen, etc.)geholfen wurde. Das Dessert, dass wir nicht mehr zu uns nehmen konnten, wurde uns, liebevoll eingepackt, mitgegeben! Das Schnabuleum werde ich insofern gut in Erinnerung behalten und gerne weiterempfehlen!!!
