Eifelstübchen in Monschau

We were there at the weekend. It's a small, somewhat homespun, almost old-fashioned restaurant, but clean and tidy. Very tasty food, well-seasoned and plentiful. The staff are very attentive and friendly. So why only four stars? Payment is only accepted in cash. If you miss the small sign on the door because you're sitting outside, you might have a problem. Tip: A small note on the menu. Folks, it's 2025 and cash is still the only option??!! Anyone who thinks this is a scoundrel is a scoundrel.

Very friendly and warm team. The schnitzel with Art Monschauer mustard including a small side salad was super juicy and delicious. The breading was crispy and golden brown. Of course the schnitzel was fresh and NOT a frozen product. The salad dressing was excellent and incredibly tasty. The best thing I've eaten to date. The interior is stylish, charming and very clean. It suits the city perfectly. Thank you, keep it up.

Summary: Family business with good service and delicious food, in an outdated restaurant, the Google average rating of 4.4 is more realistic than my four, but it actually wasn't five ⭐, sorry but I can't do anything about the rating system 😉 in detail: in the afternoon we asked for a table for two people, the question about bringing our medium-sized dog was answered in the affirmative, as was the question about a table When we arrived at the restaurant in the evening, all but two mini tables were occupied. It's a good thing we left our dog at home because it couldn't fit under the table or under one of the two chairs. We decided on 2x schnitzel, 1x as a hunter, 1x from the daily menu with Monschau mustard sauce, Drinks came quickly, as did the soup that was part of the daily menu, the side salad that came with both dishes also came quickly, Potato soup tasted ok. Could have used a little more pep, salad everything fresh, delicious vinegar & oil dressing, Since another table had now become free, we were asked before the main course if we wanted to move, we agreed and took the new, much more comfortable seats Both schnitzels were tasty, not outstanding, but solid cooking. After the meal, my wife praised the mustard sauce she had chosen. Since there were still some of the coarsely cut fries left, she was offered a second helping of the sauce She refused that, because when you're full, you're full

Very good, simple food. No frills but the schnitzels are homemade and delicious. The facilities are simple but it is clean. The atmosphere is very cozy.

Delicious food in old walls with a good family atmosphere

I can't really understand the very high ratings for the Eifelstübchen. First of all: the family service and attention are top, there is nothing wrong with that. It's certainly a matter of taste that the junior manager (?!) is out and about in the restaurant in a tracksuit... But what if he feels comfortable...?!? The ambience suggests a former snack bar. Fresh air supply and air regulation are borderline - the textiles need to be washed after the visit 😣. Unfortunately, cosiness in the restaurant gives way to a somewhat musty 70s nostalgia. The food is by no means bad, the French fries in particular were crispy and rich. The pork loin steak was well fried, the actually tasty mustard sauce formed a light film on the surface. The salad, on the other hand, had already spent a long time in the dressing and made a rather bland impression. Conclusion: Nice service, atmosphere with “room for improvement” and unspectacular food.

It is advisable to make a reservation here on excursion weekends, as Monschau is very popular and the restaurants - including these - are often full. In addition to some pasta dishes, there are unfortunately almost only some with French fries as a side dish. Only one fish dish had potatoes as a side dish. I enjoyed it there.

Eifelstübchen is a charming family business that I recently visited and I was really impressed. The food was delicious and the daily menu featured a fantastic main course of soup, chips and salad. I was particularly impressed by the schnitzel with the moonshine mustard sauce - simply outstanding! Everything was fresh and lovingly prepared for each guest. It was even possible to hear the sounds from the kitchen while the chef was preparing the schnitzels. The fries were fresh and not from the freezer, and the meat was top quality. Not only is the quality convincing, but the price is also very fair for what is on offer. You definitely get excellent value for money here. All in all, I can only warmly recommend the Eifelstübchen.

Such friendly and thoughtful service! We are thrilled! Here are just examples: The 2 different soft drinks were brought in small carafes so that the children could try/choose/drink both in their special children's glasses with straws! There was a robber's spoon for each soup Regarding the stroller with our infant, we were offered the furthest and quietest table so that the stroller could stand directly at the table and completely undisturbed! We were able to eat so harmoniously with 3 children! Perfect! PS: we really enjoyed it! Price of the “daily specials” and all of them really VERY appealing for Monschau!

Very tasty food, nice service, rustic atmosphere

We greatly enjoyed the food there! We were four people and each tried different sauces for the Schnitzel and for the sausages. All of them were delicious, our favourite was the moustard one for the schnitzel and the curry for the sausage. The service was very friendly and on time, we want to come back :)

Unfortunately, it's more of a snack bar with restaurant prices. Unfortunately, apart from the salad, a lot of it was canned, and overall it wasn't convincing.

Unfortunately, based on previous reviews, we ate there today. Unfortunately, apart from the salad and the service, I can't say anything positive. The schnitzels were barely soft and the sauce for the Jägerschnitzel was definitely a ready-made sauce and the mushrooms were only chopped raw. The currywurst seemed to have been left on a warming surface for longer. It's a shame, but it doesn't have more of a snack bar feel and it's not really comfortable either, especially when loud pop charts are playing in the background

We rounded off our visit to Monschau with a meal in the centrally located Eifelstübchen. Fast and attentive service, delicious starter soup according to the daily menu and crispy schnitzel. Price/performance ratio is right - the portions are very generous. We definitely have the Eifelstübchen on our radar for our next visit! :-) Small point for improvement: We were there in great weather, the terrace is shared with the adjacent café at the Red House. This means that the seating options at the Eifelstübchen are somewhat more limited with through traffic.

Nice service and delicious food. A robber's spoon was brought to the soup that was part of the daily menu without being asked. What a nice gesture. Fries were served with the main course (currywurst and Jägerschnitzel). Since the fries were at the table quicker than the rest of the food, they cooled down a bit and we received another hot portion without asking. That's what I call a service. Thanks so much! The ambience is rustic and simple but cozy and invites you to linger.

The cafe was just opening when we arrived. They had no potatoes so dishes with potatoes were out of the question. We had goulash soup and pasta with mushrooms and mustard sauce as well as spaghetti carbonara. The food was tasty and hot.

Very nice and rustic restaurant. Of course, schnitzel or steak with the Monschau mustard sauce is definitely recommended! We had the pork seaks with mustard sauce. The steaks were very tender and easy to eat and the mustard sauce tasted excellent. There were also thick, crispy Belgian fries that also went very well with the mustard sauce. The menu also included a very tasty and surprisingly generous starter salad. We were more than full. We sat outside here, although there aren't too many seats here - which means you can have some peace and quiet and watch what's going on in the center of Monschau. Clear recommendation!

A family run restaurant, very friendly. They speak German, English, French, Italian and Lebanese. The food portions were quiet big and all the dishes are tasty. I highly recommend Eifelstübchen, one of the best restaurants in Monschau.

Yesterday we had dinner in the Eifelstübchen. After a long day of hiking. Unfortunately we didn't find the taste of the food good. Drinks Radler or Bit Burger fresh from the barrel were anything but good, there was far too little pressure on the barrels so the beer didn't taste good. The table we were given was pretty sticky, tables weren't set for guests. We were handed the cutlery and that was it. We ordered different dishes to eat. The schnitzel was dry, the sauces weren't homemade either. Except for the salad, which was pretty simple, it wasn't really tasty. The price was a bit expensive for such a preparation. But tastes are different. We cannot recommend the Eifelstübchen, more of a chip shop than a restaurant. It's a shame but all the best anyway.

I quite like the food, just one comment: way too much! For someone who only has a small stomach, that is TOO much :D You can park your car within walking distance in a covered parking lot.

We were there for the first time at the beginning of our vacation and were immediately blown away by the rustic atmosphere and the delicious dishes! Schnitzel “Monschauer Style” with mustard sauce. I had never heard of it before, but it was really tasty. Although you usually wait a while, it's also because the schnitzels are being freshly made, which you can also hear, which makes you look forward to eating them all the more. In addition to the soup of the day (which we ordered as a “2-course menu” with the schnitzel), there was also a small salad included, which should also shorten the waiting time. ☺️ Requests were taken into account and the family atmosphere simply rounded everything off so that we went back again on the penultimate day of our vacation. Thank you for the lovely hours!

Nothing about this place is appealing. Food tasted like it was frozen then microwaved. Decor is like a bad diner. Smelled like some sort of gas inside. Plenty of other options in town, except on Sunday which is the only reason I came here.

Hello everyone, the Eifelstübchen looks inconspicuous from the outside, but it's worth taking a look inside. It's just cozy, not modern. The landlady is super nice and fast, the food is really good, and the price is very good, For top quality, reserving a table is a must. A very nice old restaurant, but with a modern structure and still has that flair of Monschau's old town, the food was great, the fries were nice and crunchy and the schnitzel with the typical Monschau mustard sauce was a delight for the palate. The staff was very friendly, the beer was very good. We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the schnitzels were disappointingly heavy and greasy with sauce overload what drowned out all of the flavours. Fries didn't taste like traditional potato fries, they were probably taken straight from the freezer. The salad was, well, just salad. Greens with sauce that was the star here too (not mentioned in the menu). Despite these culinary missteps, I must commend the staff. They were exceptionally friendly and attentive. I appreciate the warm service. :)

Schnitzel with Monschau mustard was very tasty!

We were there as a family and were really more than positively surprised. For under €20 you can get potato soup and a delicious and fresh salad as a starter. The main course for me was a pork loin steak with Bearnaise sauce and fries, which was lovingly prepared and generous. The waiting time wasn't long either. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The family business is highly recommended, we are already looking forward to our next visit!

The pork steak with mustard sauce, a local specialty, is delicious. It comes with french fries so the portion is sufficient. Recommended if you want to feel the atmosphere of a simple German restaurant. Perhaps because it is close to the Bitburg area, the Bitburger beer felt fresher than other places!

Even if the furnishings were neither modern nor hip, the food, the service and a really unbeatable price of 17.90 for a starter soup, a super tasty schnitzel in the typical mustard sauce and a fresh, crisp salad... Food was very nice, we had the Jägerschnitzel and schnitzel with mustard sauce, both came with a soup on the house and a salad. Very cozy/comforting food. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. We were there during a period of very cold weather and snowfall, so it was quite chilly inside! Prices were very reasonable, for two meal sets + two beers we paid around 45-50 euros.
