The food was good, the service was great, and the people were really friendly. The atmosphere is quite modern. Add some music and it would have been 5 stars for the ambiance.

I have visited 3 times to Michelangelo. The service there is always amazing. The food has quite quality considering that Rothenburg is a touristic city. You'll be satisfied with the visit. I recommend to order special menu than regular menu. They were much better

The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The service was quick, and the food was delicious. Even though the restaurant was full and we hadn't made a reservation, they found a way to get us a table. We highly recommend this restaurant.

In Rothenburg, you have to be careful not to end up in a typical tourist restaurant. Not so at Michelangelo. The food was excellent, with very good value for money. The vitello tonnato with tuna foam was a delicious interpretation. The sea bass with pumpkin risotto and wild broccoli was fantastic. And the tiramisu to finish was truly wonderful. The other dishes (from bruschetta to spaghetti bolognese and filled pasta pockets) also brought smiles to our faces. Only the service seemed a little stressed, but it was very friendly. For my next visits to Rothenburg, Michelangelo will be my preferred restaurant.

The two pizzas were good and not, as is so often the case, completely burnt around the edges. Acceptable value for money. Modern atmosphere. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, the knives were a disaster. The handle was positioned perpendicular to the blade, making them awkward to handle, and they were also dull.

It's a good Italian restaurant with friendly service! We personally didn't find the decor very cozy (the furnishings were cold, the lighting too bright). But otherwise, it's a good restaurant.

One star is too much. An absolute disaster. You can tell from looking at the restaurant that they tried hard but failed miserably; it's just cheap. The water glasses on the table were stained and had white rims. The biggest outrage, however, was the food. The pasta looked completely un-homemade, and the "cream sauce" was a vibrant red/orange and tasted exclusively of tomato, perhaps meant to distract from the questionable taste of the salmon… I've never experienced anything like it, and it was very unpleasant. But since it was my birthday dinner, I wanted to eat something delicious, so I asked the waiter to remove the dishes. Customer service is a foreign concept to the owner, as we had to pay in full for the inedible food, which speaks volumes about the people there. We absolutely cannot recommend this place. Everyone should steer clear of this dump and spend their money on good, tasty food; you won't find it here.

I’d say best food in town. Decent food, me and my wife enjoy it very much. However the serving time takes quite long and we only have 50mins because we did not reserve a table. People are coming in at 6pm. So i gotta finish everything in 30mins because it took long time for them to prepare. Nice food anyways!

The setting is pleasant, the service adequate but not very welcoming. The food is disappointing. I tried the spaghetti bolognese, and it was really not up to par for an Italian restaurant that prides itself on its traditional recipes... appalling! And to top it off, when I asked for Parmigiano, they charged me €2 for it!! I've never seen anything like it 😱 If the dish had been excellent, it might have been acceptable, but I think it would have scared off an Italian. I ate it because I was hungry, but the enjoyment of the meal wasn't there, and I don't recommend this restaurant.

We visited Michelangelo for the first time today, and certainly not the last. The pizza, topped with the finest ham, mozzarella, and pistachios, was probably the best I've ever eaten! We also enjoyed a delicious Pinot Grigio. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and, in the tourist-heavy town of Rothenburg, it's one of the most beautiful and truly stands out. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our recommendation for Rothenburg ob der Tauber!

The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere. The waiters were all very friendly. The food was also very tasty, especially the bruschetta. Even with a spontaneous reservation a few hours in advance, everything worked out perfectly, and we had a nice, large table. The price/performance ratio was also very good. Main courses range from around €10 (pizza) to €25, and all were very large and filling. The wine was also very tasty. The desserts were delicious, and the caramelized topping on the crème brûlée was delicious. We felt very comfortable with the friendly staff and the delicious Italian food. The location was also very nice, and you can quickly get to the city center. Reservations are recommended.

In Rothenburg, it's very easy to fall into tourist traps, but it's worth the 500-meter walk from the Rathaus to find this gem. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a super-friendly waitress. But although the service was 5-star, what surprised us most was the food. Its fresh ingredients, freshly made pasta, excellent flavor, and fair prices. Highly recommended. I can't do much more than support by buying, and that's why I decided to leave this recommendation here. So, avoid the tourist traps and treat yourself to Rest Michelangelo. :)

Never happened before: There were four of us at a table and we ordered, and the manager refused our first special request (a bowl of olive oil mixed with salt to dip bread in). Later, when we paid, we realized that she had charged extra for the bowl of Parmesan cheese provided for the pasta, which was truly outrageous. Nice restaurant, good service (except for the arrogant manager), good food, and good wine. Oh well...

They have practically everything gluten-free. The pasta was incredible, although it wasn't much. The house pizza is also delicious, and the staff is very nice.

Everything was excellent all around. We didn't have a reservation, but we had enough time to grab a table before another reservation and enjoy the meal in a romantic atmosphere. The prices were also reasonable.

The service was very fast, there was plenty of seating, and the food was very, very good. We ordered a chicken salad, mixed seafood pasta, and salmon. Everything was delicious.

We were lucky and got a table outside without a reservation. The ambiance by the city wall is truly lovely, the service is very friendly, and the food is excellent. I had a white pizza with shrimp, porcini mushrooms, and arugula. All the ingredients were super fresh, and the pizza dough was simply delicious. We'd love to come back.

We found the price/performance ratio very good for the quality. We'd be happy to go back!

We had the mixed seafood spaghetti and the Bolognese lasagne. It was all amazing! The food has so much flavor to it. It is genuine 100% Italian food. Eat here and you won't be disappointed. The prices are so cheap too!

An incredible experience at Michelangelo Restaurant! The food is delicious, but what really impressed me was the friendliness and professionalism of the waiter, Olsi Biba. Very tasty authentic Italian cuisine with great service 💚

We had a wonderful dinner at this Italian restaurant in the center of beautiful Rothenburg. Both the first courses and the pizza were excellent. A special thank you and compliments to Mr. Olsi Biba for his exquisite kindness and great professionalism.

I've been there several times now. A very good restaurant, one that also has delicious ice cream. Great service.

I was at this restaurant a few weeks ago, alone. Unfortunately, I was already "labeled," which was very upsetting; it hadn't happened to me before. I arrived at the main entrance, was very spontaneous, and asked if there was room for myself. The blonde waitress, dressed appropriately, already looked me up and down, "Just you?" When I explained to her that I would actually like to eat alone, she didn't give me a table inside, saying they were all reserved, but only some were marked with signs. So far, so good; I should try the outside area, which I did. Here, I was seated at the most inconvenient table, even though there were several available. All the waiters were constantly being pushed to the table, as were the other guests; it was a very hectic spot. After that, I had to wait what felt like an eternity before being served. Luckily, another waiter took over for me, who actually made an effort. The food was good, but nothing special. My recommendation for anyone who goes out to eat alone: ​​not here. Here you feel like a burden, that you don't contribute enough as a single guest. In any case, you don't feel comfortable, which is a shame.

Delicious pizzas are available at a more than reasonable price. They also offer gluten-free pasta and delicious gluten-free pizzas.

We had a wonderful meal for two outside on the terrace. Vitello tonata and bruschetta started. Delicious! Then we had pasta with caprese and beef pieces and spicy garlic olive pasta. Excellent! For dessert, we had a delicious crispy caramel ice cream (shared). Also delicious! With the tip, we paid €107.50, but it was definitely worth it!

Excellent Italian food, good service, and a fantastic location in a German-style house located under the city walls of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Generous portions and easy to get to.

Stopped in Rothenburg, during our road trip from Germany to Italy and back and had dinner at this restaurant, and honestly it was one of the most disappointing Italian meals we had on the trip. The place was overcrowded, which we thought was a sign of quality, but the food told a very different story. What was advertised as “authentic Italian” turned out to be mediocre at best — bland flavours, average presentation, and nothing that stood out. Even the drinks were disappointing — I ordered a beer and it came with a lemon wedge I never asked for (and hated). For the prices charged, the quality just didn’t match up. If you’re looking for real Italian food, this is not the place. Such a disappointment.

Service died 1000 cuts.. asking for money for napkins is what defines service here. Food is just okay. Very very slow service 15 minutes to waiting just to place the order.

Very tasting food and very kind, helpful and quick service

Despite it being virtually empty, right after entering we have been asked by the lady if we had a reservation -didn't-, she pretended to look at the list, and quickly said she could only offer a table inside, impossible in the nice terrace. Right after that a second waiter arrived, unaware of the presence of the first one, nicely greeted us, and asked wether we would like a table inside or outside. Lady looked ad him in anger and almost mandated us to seat down (that is, inside). We were right by the door, and could see half amused half outraged, that every single person was ofered a table inside or outside, no further questions asked. I understand the lady may have wanted to fill up some inside tables, but the whole performance was quite ridiculous -apart from obviously inacceptable-. That said, I love very spicy food, so I could -with little effort- finish the spaghetti aglio olio e pepperoncino my partner ordered. She couldn't though she likes -normal- spicy food That's not acceptable practice without warning neither. Rest of the food was OK. Don't expect "real italian", but you necessarily wouldn't in such a turistical place . Witjout the two issues mentioned, place would be 3-4 stars in my view.

You feel like you're on vacation in Italy right in the middle of Bavaria. The ambiance is truly beautiful. You sit next to the city wall in a small, cozy garden. The selection is extensive, including homemade pasta and pizza, fish and meat dishes, and salads. Gluten-free dishes are also available upon request. The fish selection varies depending on the day; the sea bream was delicious and they even fillet it for you. Highly recommended if you're looking for that Italian vacation vibe in Bavaria.

The quality and quantity of the food was fine, but there were a lot of flies inside the restaurant (as explained by the staff, they open the windows from noon), and once I started to notice them, I couldn't concentrate on my meal. Always a great experience! There's both a set menu and a constantly changing seasonal menu. The owners put so much effort into it and always surprise you. We've never had a bad meal here and spent the most wonderful evenings both on the terrace right by the city wall and in the cozy interior. Highly recommended.

The pizza was so-so for an Italian restaurant; it would be better if it disappeared from the menu. The pasta with tomato sauce was a plus. The Aperol Spritz was the first time I'd ever had one this sweet; I think someone got the proportions wrong. Perhaps other dishes taste better. It's a cool, atmospheric place.

I spent a few days in Rothenburg in July 2025 and visited this restaurant three times. The food is truly delicious! The wine selection is also excellent. I would especially like to highlight the waiter, who has been at the restaurant for 10 years. Very friendly and takes care of all your food ordering needs! Pasta 🔝, the pizza 🍕 was a flop, dry, stiff dough that didn't even manage to rise. The crust wasn't even crispy, fluffy, and risen enough for a pizza. We had hoped for more. The atmosphere was very nice, though.

Brilliant Italian restaurant and food. Just make sure not to order their wannabe version of an Italian tiramisu, served in a wine glass and tasted nothing like it. Almost pure whip cream. Besides the tiramisu though, the Pasta, pizza and lasagna were amazing.

The best Italian restaurant I've been to in a long time. Delicious pizzas. A beautiful place, both inside and out. It's a shame we were passing through; otherwise, this restaurant had the potential to become my favorite Italian restaurant. We'd love to go back on our next visit to Rothenburg.

We sat outside in the twilight, so missed that "someone" either put out lights on the tables or that "someone" arranged dim lighting - instead, we were kind of half-sitting in partial darkness. We also think the waiters were a little unfamiliar with the situations, so we had to wait a lot for attention. Service is a letdown, but good food.
